People got accustomed with time, but for Leo, who had JUST sent Casey to save the world (then died immediately rip bozo), it was hard to even comprehend. My guy almost has a mental breakdown in an abandoned alleyway but then the reader finds him. They talk to him and invite him for coffee after he calms down.
