Here it comes, SimTalk monthly, a magazine for Sims, by Sims! The idea came to me at work one day and now, after weeks of hard work, I can finally show you all what’s been cooking inside my brain ☺️

making your own sims vs playing with premades

why? who the fuck actually cares? heres a marvel idea: if you dont like others' sims, MOVE ON. aint no motherfuckin reason to talk shit and belittle others, we're all here to have fun and share photos of our games.

you wanna play with premades? cool! lemme see!! you wanna play w/ your own sims? cool! lemme see!! you wanna mix'em up like i do? cool! lemme see!!

thats the beauty of the game, playing how YOU want so why be a fuckass about someone else's sims when it makes THEM happy? ya gotta shut the hell up, this conversation has been and continues to be extremely annoying and tiresome for years now.

whether or not they didnt mean to sound shitty, it absolutely comes off super elitist, tacky and all around WEIRD. some people straight up do not have the energy, time, or creativity to make their own sims sometimes so they play with premades. or some people genuinely enjoy playing with them for XYZ reason. it is TOTALLY OK!!! to play with premades and/or your own sims.

its 2024, go on and grow up already. do not @ me, i will full-on ignore you bc i am right and that's a fact <3

time to say goodbye to generation nine 😭 i loved playing heathcliif! i had never played vampires before in such detail and i had never lived in forgotten hollow either! if ulysses and ambar from gen4 were the most in love couple, heathcliff and georgiana come right next!

it was a crazy haze to have so many kids, but i wanted to have a full household in this challenge so i don't regret it! six amazing kids! we leave most them as kids now but during gen10 we will learn more about their whereabouts!

SimTalk: WHY WOLFIE??

Wolfie in the Runaway Teen Challenge’s one of my first instances of hooking up an Original Character-type Sim with a Premade Simin a very long time. Usually it gets into the taboo I’ve developed as a fandomer of shipping “OC” and “Canon” ( if you’d truly consider a Premade Sim a “Canon Character.”) I recently decided that Premade Sims are a bit different because they are designed for the players enjoyment. A lot of them are single so you can decide their love life however you please. Heck, if you decide that Mortimer Goth would be better off with your Original Character Sim than Bella you have the right to brea them up ( but why would you they’re the Gomez and Morticia of Sims. )

Second of all, Why Wolfgang? Let me just note I did not plan this. As a matter of fact I had no appreciation for Wolfgang Munch as a Sim at all before this challenge. I definitely discriminate on Sims who are either “Mean” or “Evil.” And he is Mean. Now he’s one of my favorite premades. I’ve spent a lot of playtime playing with Pheobe off-camera. She has a club called the TeenieBoppers which i used to keep her Social Need up ( if she got too lonely she became useless. ) She was closest to Wolfgang and she built up a bond easier with Wolfgang than she did with the other members of her club. 

So I started to ship it despite myself. I quit the save file for a long time; and during that time my opinion on Premade x “OC” Sims changed. 

I put a lot of thought into this.

Everytime I saw Wolfgang in my or another Simmer’s playing I’d think of Pheobe; they slowly became synonymous to each other in my head. Today i decided i had to do it.

It started of with I was just going to make them date; then I added Wolfie to my current household via cheat originally as a temporary thing just to get him to give her a promise ring ( because it wouldn’t make much sense if the poor and virtually homeless Pheobe did ) 

I’d also like to note I used no money cheats when I added Wolfie to my household. Him “Buying” the San Myshuno apartment was completely a story thing.In reality,  That was all Pheobe’s money; I was able to buy the aparment unfurnished and still have a little over 4,000 simoleans left if i bought it unfurnished. I very sparsely decorated itand the rest is history.. Also if you don’t know how Add to Active Family cheat works; it adds no extra to the household funds unlike Ask to Move In. I just found I had more money than i thought I did by selling that giant property with the tiny building and downsizing to a 400 dollar apartment with no furniture. I actually made money an honest way in the process. And the rules to the challenge specifically state you can  move between lots and apartments and you don’t have to stick to the same lot ( Mid-NoWhere in my case. ) that you start the challenge with.

Also, I’ve started sending them both to school; that’s the only rule Ive specifically been ignoring because with the addition of Parenthood you get a lot more negative side effects to skipping school on their Core Values and in my expeirience Poor Performance can cause them to enter moodswings which are giving me headaches. ( These two dont stop with the moodswings. )  I miss Sims 3 runaway teen challenges where I can just delete the school from the neighborhood and not have to think about it again.  Also if I have to get one more call from that dang Principle. I also pretend that the landlord isn’t an adult when I have to call him to fix my apartment issues ( I refuse to repair the electric box when it glitches out; ) but we can just say Wolfie’s lied to him about their age. I try to not rely on the landlord as much as possible. 

I’m really enjoying this dramatic storyline and spin on the challenge I’ve made that Wolfie and her and posing as an adult married couple despite only being teenage Sims who are promised at best. I’ve kept most of the challenge rules and am seeing where this storyline takes me. I hope you guys are enjoying it to.

@anon, I don't think it's a glitch that the lot time continues from when you left the lot originally. Im pretty sure it was intentional. It can be remedied by using the community time project, I have used it for years and will continue to do so. Before I started using CTP I played all the EPs just fine without it, it's not a glitch. But ofc this community continues to put out superb mods and all creators have my respect for their time, patience and efforts wrestling with Sims 2 to provide them.

Hot take: if the sims 2 had an open world, or at least not the weird glitch where time goes back when you return home from a community lot, it'd be the best game in the whole series

like imo ts4 has a great cas and build mode but those are the only features that feel relatively well polished, the gameplay isn’t engaging at all

ts3 is a great game but it’s not really playable with all EPs installed (plus imo the aesthetics have aged badly). otherwise its fun and i miss it a lot sometimes lol

ts2 is just really balanced and the gameplay is actually engaging? i wish it wasnt so difficult to set up and get it working on modern pcs tho, that’s def its biggest downfall

i’m not sure i like the way tumblr’s so good at reducing things that are complicated to narrow, neatly drawn lines. you can hold more than one, even contradictory opinion, at the same time. example: - i dislike taylor swift’s new single - i think taylor has handled her beefs very badly - i don’t think she’s anywhere near woke enough to wield her privilege appropriately nonetheless: - i listened to 1989 more than i really felt like i should have - i respect what she just did, as a victim of sexual assault, in court, facing and then eviscerating her accuser in a public arena - i recognize the way public opinion about her twists on the edge of a dime  tl;dr people are complicated and contradictory. your reactions to them can therefore also be complicated and contradictory. and you can ask her to do better without making yourself part of the problem.

Simtalking about: Steam Direct

Steam’s Greenlight system is finally coming to a close. After what it feel like decades Valve finally stepped up and putting an end to its first promising sound program than shitfest and replacing it with Steam Direct. Now I would be happy to something treacherous going down but I can’t help myself to shake away my doubts that this new system will work at least tolerable. So let’s check out what Valve has learnt from Greenlight and the feedback from the users during this couple of years.

In case if for some reason you don’t know how Greenlight operated basically every developer had to pay a fee of a hundred bucks after that they could submit their stuff to the Greenlight page where the community decided if it will be on Steam or not. Of course a voting system based on gullible idiots and a minority of people with brain can never go wrong and will work 100% correctly. Sadly if there’s just a little loophole or chance to abuse the system people will find it and use it for their own advantage aka what I like to call ‘the Hungarian way’. So game code exchange for votes has become a big deal as well as putting up quickly made shitty games with Trading Card support for earning a quick buck, it was just a mess. It got so out of hand that 60% of Steam games got released in 2016! Over all we got a flood of games with very low quality and even suffocated games that were in desperate need for attention. But how the new Direct system will handle these sort of issues and help us to enjoy only the quality titles that we deserve?

The big change that Steam Direct brings is that you have to pay a fee between 100 and 5000 USD after every new title you wish to put up on Steam. So basically you have to pay after every game and not just one entry fee. Now this potentially could be a good way to stop bad developers to quickly cobble together a barely working game with Steam Card support because of the returning fee would simply not allow for these types of people to make a profit. On the other hand this is could be a really huge setback for developers who truly put their hearts and souls into their game but simply can’t afford to pay the fee. As of right know we don’t really know the exact number that is required to cough up for Valve so I can’t really decide if this is going to be a good or a bad thing in the future. But if the price is too low nothing will change, but if it’s too high that could be a big slap in the face with a fish for good devs. If you ask me what I would do is if the game gets good reviews and a healthy game page and community I would keep the fee for the developers for such games as low as possible and a guaranteed spot on the main page. That would help developers get the attention that they deservers while trying not to fuck them up monetarily. Of course if your game is total garbage and you act like a total cunt than I would raise the fee and after a time I would just stop selling (and maybe completely remove) your games from Steam.

(I hope that the new system will be the downfall of groups like these)

It’s all nice and good and with a well balanced fee this could potentially help to root out shitty games BUT I still have an issue. My main concern is that this new policy basically a new way for Valve to earn more money by not doing anything. Steam got flooded with terrible titles, games that are not working correctly, asset flips or just flat out missing the executable to run the title. What we need is quality control and we are asking for it since ages! You can increase the entry fee but that won’t change the fact that shit can still be put up on Steam. If you want to stop the flooding you need REAL people doing some quality control. There has to be some kind base line that a game has to reach for getting on Steam. I’m not talking about the unreachable heights that Valve required back in time, but you know at least some basic standards like the game can run or work properly so that the quality testers’ taste and objective wouldn’t get in the way. Of course that would require at least two or three people to do and that would be a huge investment for a small company like Valve.

(It’s sad to say but I’m not going to miss Greenlight at all)

Over all right now I’m not satisfied about the changes that Valve is trying to implement. A lot of things are still unclear and it won’t change the fact that we want true quality control (I should have looked up a synonym for that word already) from real people. I hope that this new system will improve the games that will end up on the store page but I still wish that a few people would start manually sort out the crap. I have an idea Valve! Ask me to do it! No really. Give me a tolerable pay check and I would gladly sit in front of the computer playing some shitty games until I inevitably hang myself from the shitness.

Sim upload delays

Hello there happy simmers of Tumblr! and to who have followed me, thank you very much for that by the way! ;)

I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the Simblrs that liked my last uploads of the Sims Screenies that I posted and got some real good feed back of likes from posts such as Abby's day to day life and the room creations in Vallery Babcok's house :D 

So sorry for not uploading anything sim related screenshot for the past month or so, my computer with all my sims on it sadly died and I haven't been able to up load anything on onto my Tumblr account :( so in the mean time I am borrowing a computer until I can get another one. Hopefully once I get a new computer (not sure when) I will be back on track with my sim uploads! Though also that means that 'Abby', 'Vallery Babcok series' and all the other characters you know are sadly obsolete and will not be continued :( due to the fact is would be just too hard to remake and re find all the mods that where needed to create the characters and homes :( (and there were a lot)

But! on the upside however, there will be newer characters! new Adventures, Challenges and more!! in the new yet to be upcoming Sim Screenies!!
