Before the outbreak, Beau Clary was just about one of the most charming fellas you could hope to meet in a place like New York City; he was raised on the notion of southern hospitality and helping thy fellow neighbor, and even after gaining more fame and fortune than a small-town boy like him knew what to do with, Beau never let it warp his attitude or his ego or make him forget his roots. Beau Clary was born in a small town in rural Alabama where the number of stoplights could be counted on one hand, everybody knew everybody else’s family, and twice a year, the local high school had a drive your tractor to school day. There wasn’t a whole lot to do growing up, and when Beau wasn’t at school or helping tend to his family’s land and animals, he was playing pickup games with friends out in wide, open fields, quickly proving himself to be a natural at football. Despite the limited opportunities available for someone like him - and they were few and far between in a town nestled so far below the poverty line and nearly forgotten by the rest of the state - Beau was determined to make something of himself and get out of Alabama. He channeled this energy and determination into the sport, excelling on his high school team and garnering the praise and encouragement of local coaches and faculty. In his senior year of high school, Beau’s dedication finally paid off. Even out in the middle of Nowhere, Alabama, there were universities sending out talent scouts. He’ll never forget the way his mama cried and hugged him the day she found his acceptance letter from Clemson in the mailbox - she didn’t even wait for him to get home to open it, and she was waiting at the door when he walked through because, in her words, her baby got a full ride! With his tuition covered and his degree paid for, Beau was able to focus all of his energy on honing his skills at the sport. At Clemson, Beau continued to shine on the field, becoming a dominant force in the league and a leader amongst his teammates. When he wasn’t on the field, he was studying for any number of his horticultural science courses - academics did not come naturally to him in the same way athletics did, but Beau worked hard to ensure he maintained a respectable GPA the entire time. He was well-liked by his peers and his educators, a friend to everyone who happened to cross his path, and in the end, his limitless positive karma and perseverance paid off. His success on the field coupled with his natural charisma and leadership skills caught the attention of NFL scouts and, when draft day came, Clemson University running back Beau Clary was selected in the first round by the New York Jets. He drove back home after that to spend a few weeks back home in Alabama before flying out to New York to get settled in his new place before he left. A photo snapped by a sports photographer at the airport of an openly-crying Beau hugging his mother goodbye achieved viral status after it was shown on ESPN, and from that moment, his name became a household one and his life was never the same. 

Despite the pressure and public scrutiny that came from being such a high draft pick, Beau seemed to thrive in the world of professional football. The chaos and cacophony of the city were certainly something to get used to, but Beau quickly acclimated - or, if not, he made enough trips home and flew his family out to the east coast enough that he was able to keep grounded in an overwhelming concrete jungle. The next several years were spent working hard and playing harder and he’d been in the middle of an incredibly successful — and potentially Super Bowl worthy— season and it could be argued that Beau was in the prime of his career - and his life - when the outbreak hit New York. The explosion of the entrance to the Wexley was, in a sick, twisted sort of way, the perfect visual representation for the tumult of emotion that accompanied such catastrophic panic and grief. His entire world was in shambles, and it took significant convincing from those closest to him not abandon his apartment for a foolishly suicidal mission to get back home to Alabama — to his family. He did, however, make two separate trips to try and find his partner, the man he'd been beginning to grow serious with just before the outbreak ; both trips to his apartment were met with disappointment, and no evidence whether he was dead or alive. Not knowing only made it worse. Winter was long and hard, and though Beau could often be seen around the Wexley, coming out of the woodwork wherever work needed done to lend a quiet hand, he’d frequently slink back to his apartment without a word once the work was done, keeping to himself. He grieved the loss of a family he feared he’d never know the truth of, nursed the guilt of knowing that if they were gone, it was in part because he’d not been there with them. He hadn’t been there to help them, to protect them. 

On December 23rd, when rock bottom opened up like a giant chasm beneath the Wexley — quite literally beneath it, in the basement — and Mr. Wexley encouraged everyone to abandon the building in light of the newly-chompified residents and return once it was safer, Beau was among those staying behind and forced to evacuate. In the chaos, he tried to help anyone else he came across in his own pursuit to safety, and he and the few people he could find holed up in a bodega not half a block down from the Wexley that had been ransacked but appeared secure — save for two chompers that Beau managed to dispatch with the aid of another survivor to secure the premises. When he finally returned, it was to devastation and grief — it seemed inescapable these days. He dove headfirst into cleaning up what he could of the physical mess left behind by the chaos, his body and his mind itching for busy work. He just needed to keep himself occupied, focused. Distracted.

With a single long sleeve and a daring plunging V-neck, the asymmetrical sequin jumpsuit exuded the essence of confidence and boldness. It also flared dramatically at the legs, allowing Gaga to move freely as she belted out the hauntingly beautiful "Sweet Sounds of Heaven".

What truly set Gaga's ensemble apart was the striking design: one side was adorned with glistening black sequins, while the other featured a dark maroon and pink diamond pattern.

'Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr. were among the A-listers boycotting the premiere of their widely-praised drama Oppenheimer in New York City on Monday amid a SAG-AFTRA strike preventing them from promoting their film.

Instead, the only big name who appeared to walk the red carpet at the AMC Lincoln Square was the film's director, Christopher Nolan, 52, who posed alongside his wife Emma Thomas, 51.

After the strike was announced last week, Universal Pictures announced the cancellation of the premiere's red carpet, but would still be moving forward today with a screening honoring those who worked behind-the-scenes on the movie.

'In support of the ongoing SAG strike, the filmmakers of 'Oppenheimer' will not be proceeding with the NY premiere as originally planned, and will instead screen the movie to celebrate the crew and craftspeople who contributed to making this landmark film,' Universal Pictures said in a statement.

Last week, the film's cast walked out of the film's UK premiere after the strike was announced, and Nolan expressed solidarity with the strikers at a subsequent premiere screening of Oppenheimer.

Christopher looked smart in a grey suit with silver tie and sleek leather shoes as he posed beside his wife of 26 years.

Emma looked stunning in a silky black dress paired with gold jewelry and peep toe black heels which displayed her pedicured toes.

Christopher was pictured signing autographs for fans awaiting him outside the venue.

He also was seen speaking with audience members inside the theater, delivering several remarks ahead of the special screening solo.

Oppenheimer, which stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the 'father of the atomic bomb', has been receiving glowing reviews following its premiere in Paris last week. It is set to be released in the U.S. on July 21.

Hollywood is set to grind to a halt for the forseeable future as unions take militant action over how streaming services are pushing down pay and the increasing use of AI in production.

The move could delay the release dates of blockbusters in the UK, with filming already halted today on the Buckinghamshire set of Wicked, starring Ariana Grande, while Deadpool 3, Beetlejuice 2 and Speak No Evil also face being pushed back.

The likes of Cillian Murphy, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and Rami Malek were all on the red carpet at the Odeon in Leicester Square last week, before leaving prematurely to 'go and write their picket signs' in preparation for the 'imminent' strike by the actors' union.

Footage from the black carpet, which was brought forward by an hour to avoid clashing with the strike's announcement, showed the cast posing for photos before making their way back to their hotel in London.

The last minute change came after the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists announced it had voted in favour of taking action, after a deadline to reach a deal passed.

Among the affected films is superhero blockbuster Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman - which may have its scheduled release date of May 2024 significantly impacted by the strike.

Similarly, new film Wicked starring US singer Ariana Grande, actress Cynthia Erivo, Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey and Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, which is being shot in a village in Buckinghamshire could also be affected, as the release date is currently set for November next year.

The set of Wicked appeared like a ghost town on Friday after it was abandoned last night following the announcement of the industrial action.

Other UK productions that face being impacted include vampire thriller The Radleys and psychological thriller Speak No Evil.

It is believed the highly anticipated second season of House of Dragon, however, can continue filming in the UK despite the ongoing strikes across the pond.

This is because the cast is made up of primarily British actors whose contracts are under the local union Equity - whose members are legally not allowed to strike in solidarity with US workers.

Pictures from the set, in an undisclosed location in Britain, on Thursday morning showed crew members preparing for another day of shooting.

Fortunately for fans of The Lord of The Rings: The Rings Of Power, the second season has just recently finished filming - in good news for Amazon which is expected to spend more than $1billion producing the series.

But for some of the biggest hits this year, from Barbie, to Oppenheimer and Mission: Impossible 7, the strikes mean studio executives face being unable to market their big-budget productions.

Meanwhile in the U.S., from Los Angeles to New York, actors, writers and other workers are now taking to the streets while holding up signs and demanding better pay.

The industrial action means press junkets for summer and autumn film premieres will be cancelled, and the Emmy awards face being postponed.

In a red-carpet interview with Variety, Matt Damon revealed that 'once the strike is officially called', the cast is 'going to walk obviously in solidarity'.

'That's why we moved this [red carpet] up because we know the second it's called, we're going home,' he said.

Speaking to Deadline on the red carpet earlier, Emily Blunt added: 'I hope everyone makes a fair deal and we are here to celebrate this movie.

'And if they call [a strike], we'll be leaving together as cast in unity with everyone. … We are gonna have to. We are gonna have to. We will see what happens. Right now it's the joy to be together.'

Just before the strike was announced, Kenneth Branagh said on the red carpet: 'We know it's a critical time at this point in the industry and the issues that are involved need to be addressed - there are difficult conversations.'

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), the group that negotiates on behalf of studios, said it had offered significant gains to union members, reports Reuters.

They included the highest percentage increase in minimum pay levels in 35 years and 'groundbreaking' protections around the use of actors' images by generative AI, the organisation claimed.

It said: 'Rather than continuing to negotiate, SAG-AFTRA has put us on a course that will deepen the financial hardship for thousands who depend on the industry for their livelihoods.'

After the Oppenheimer cast then failed to enter the cinema after appearing on the red carpet, director Christopher Nolan told the audience: 'You've seen them here earlier on the red carpet.

'Unfortunately, they're off to write their picket signs for what we believe to be an imminent strike by Sag, joining one of my guilds, the Writers Guild, in the struggle for fair wages for working members of the unions, and we support them.'

Christopher then attended a second premiere screening of Oppenheimer and voiced his support for the strikes while introducing the film as he praised the 'talented' workers.

According to Deadline, he told the audience: 'They are here in spirit, and you'll get to see their incredible work and the reason we value these talented people so much and need to care for them and make sure they're looked after.'

'Thanks so much for being here and we hope you enjoy the film,' he added as the audience applauded his supportive words.

'This is a moment of history, a moment of truth - if we don't stand tall right now, we are all going to be in trouble,' SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher told a press conference, following the union board's unanimous vote to strike.

Writers had already spent 11 weeks protesting outside the headquarters of the likes of Disney and Netflix, after their demands for better pay and guarantees over the use artificial intelligence were not met.

Movie studios have already begun reshuffling their calendars, and if the strikes drag on, major film releases will be postponed too.

Both SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) are demanding increases in base pay and residuals from streaming television, plus assurances that their work will not be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI).

The actors' union said on Thursday that its board had unanimously agreed to a strike after failing to reach a deal with studios including Walt Disney Co and Netflix Inc . Officials said actors would join picket lines in New York and Los Angeles starting on Friday.

The WGA's work stoppage has rippled throughout California and beyond, hitting caterers, prop suppliers and others who rely on Hollywood productions for business. The economic damage is expected to spread after actors join the picket lines.

Fran Drescher, former star of 'The Nanny' TV show and the president of SAG-AFTRA, called the studios' responses to actors' concerns 'insulting and disrespectful.'

'We are the victims here,' Drescher said at a press conference on Thursday, 'We are being victimised by a very greedy entity.''

I'm back bitches! My stepdad is pretty awesome, he's letting me use his laptop to write and post and such. I figured I'd start small, and get a bunch of writing done before I post any chapter stuff. So here we are, no beta but Grammarly is dope. Hope you guys like it. :D

He stared at the brown paper package in his hands with furrowed brows. The paper was coated in various stamps as it went through transit. With slight trepidation, Leonard McCoy carefully opened the package. The Enterprise in her time had made many enemies, and he had a few targeting him alone. Leonard wouldn’t put it past any one of them to send him a bomb or disease; though it would be hard with the ‘Fleets screening process. Physical mail was rare so they were incredibly thorough. 

Underneath the brown paper was honest to god handwritten letter wrapped around a long jewelry box. Tossing the wrappings and setting the box down, Leonard smoothed out the letter and began to read. He couldn’t help the broad smile spread across his face and the warmth that filled his heart to the brim.

I know I know this is really corny but I just couldn’t help myself. By the time this reaches you, we must have talked dozens of times and I’ll have started my first year at Cerberus Academy But I didn’t want to miss your Birthday! Grinning Leonard paused in reading his daughter's letter to open the box sitting on his desk. Nestled inside: a necklace, silver chain, and casing with a glittering blue jewel. He didn’t often wear a lot of jewelry, other than his class ring, but this? This he was going to keep close. Looking back at the letter he finished the rest of it as he gently pulled the necklace from its pillow and fiddled with the clasp so he could put it on. 

- It’s an Aquamarine, the birthstone of March (according to the lady at the store), and being that we were both born in March I got myself one too! Now we both have something to connect us. Something to look at or hold on to that will bring a smile to your face. You need to smile more often daddy I swear you’re grumpier than a wet cat sometimes. 

Anyway, this is a reminder that you’re not alone. You have me, Uncle Jim, Auntie Ny, Uncle Spock, and all the others. Just because you’re gonna be in places unknown exploring doesn’t mean you have to be all bottled up and stiff. Have fun, would you? And for the love of Nans pecan pie be careful!

The necklace sat warmly against his chest and he wasn’t about to admit to anyone that he tearing up. Smiling softly he cleaned up the box and letter, locking them safely away in his desk drawer. Wiping his face and eyes, Leonard checked the time, it was almost time to go to his surprise party. Snorting he shook his head at the fact that they thought they could pull one over on him. Clearing his throat Leonard wandered out into Medbay in a much lighter mood than when he first walked in.
