Moth of the Week
African Wild Silk Moth
Gonometa postica
Tumblr media
The African wild silk moth is a part of the family Lasiocampidae. It was first described in 1855 by Francis Walker. It is also known as the Brandwurm in its larval stage in Afrikaans, Kweena in its pupal stage in Tshwana, and Molopo moth/mot in English and Afrikaans.
Description The female of this moth is much longer and larger than the male due to having to carry eggs. The male is about half the size of the female and much thinner.
The female has a light brown abdomen with a dark brown thorax and head. The female’s forewings are striped light brown, dark brown, and gray. The hindwings are a yellow-brown with a dark brown edge.
The male has a dark body and wings with a transparent portion of the hindwing.
Female Forewing Range: 35–42 mm (
Male Forewing Range: 21–25 mm (
Diet and Habitat Larva of this species eat Acacia erioloba, A. tortilis, A. melifera, Burkea africana, Brachystegia spp., and Prosopis glandulosa. The larva will feed from the same tree it’s entire life unless there are two many other caterpillars. When there is a large number of caterpillars, they may defoliate the whole tree and the larva must move in order to not starve.
This moth mainly inhabits savannas with many Acacia trees, especially in drier areas. These moths contribute to the Acacia environment by providing food to predators and nutrients to plants through feces. Cocoons are usually found on Acacia tees.
Mating Males detect females’ mating pheromones with their antennae. Males fly to the females because the females are weighed down by the eggs. The female contains about 200 eggs which are laid on the food plant after fertilization. Eggs hatch in about two weeks. Eggs are laid in clumps and the newly hatched caterpillars grow as a group and become more solitary with time.
Predators This moth is preyed on by parasitic wasps and flies. These insects lay their eggs on the caterpillar and feed off of its resources until the moth larva cocoons. The parasites live off the cocoon and grow to adulthood while killing the pupa. Specifically, these larva are subject to parasitism by Diptera and Hymenoptera, the most common parasitoids being Palexorista species from the Tachinidae and Goryphus species from the Ichneumonidae.[6]
To combat external predators and weather, the caterpillars build a tough cocoon. Caterpillars and their cocoons are also covered in stinging hairs to deter predators from touching them. Female cocoons are larger than male cocoons.
Fun Fact In Madagascar, wild silk has been harvested for centuries, and this knowledge has been introduced to southern Africa. The cocoons are harvested commercially in Namibia, Botswana, Kenya and South Africa, and the species also occurs in Zimbabwe and Mozambique. They are difficult to harvest due to the cocoons being covered in calcium oxalate. Oxford University discovered and patented a method known as demineralizing using a warm solution of EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) that soften the cocoons by dissolving the sericin. This lets the silk unravel without weakening it.
- Wild African silk moth cocoons are also used as ankle rattles in southern Africa by San and Bantu tribes. They are filled with materials such as fine gravel, seeds, glass beads, broken sea shells, or pieces of ostrich eggshell.
- Furthermore, the cocoons have long been known to cause the death of cattle, antelope and other ruminants in the Kalahari. During drought periods, the cocoons are eaten, probably because they resemble acacia pods. The silk is indigestible and blocks the rumen of multiple-stomach animals, causing starvation.
- Finally, the protein found in this species’s slik contains many basic amino acids making it a potentially useful biomaterial in cell and tissue culture.

Some Spider Silk Facts
The strongest spider silk is produced by Darwin’s Bark Spider, which is twice as strong as any gossamer recorded before. It has a tensile strength of up to 520 megajoules per cubic metre.
Gossamer is stronger than steel and kevlar, and it has been suggested that a single pencil-width strand of the stuff could stop a Boeing 747 in its tracks.
The reason we can break such a strong material is because it is 20 times thinner than a human hair, usually measuring just 0.003mm across.
There are seven types of silk produced by a spider of Araneus Diadematus: dragline/major ampullate silk (which forms the basic structure of a web and also the web the spider itself dangles from), minor ampullate silk (which forms the auxiliary spiral in the centre of a web), flagelliform silk (which forms the core fibres of the ‘capture spiral’) , aggregate silk (forming the aqueous coating on a web), cylindriform silk (tough outer silk of an egg sac), aciniform silk (soft inner silk of an egg sac also used for swathing prey) and pyriform silk (which is used as a sort of cement for joining and attaching different parts of the web).
These little architects have seven different silk glands, as a result, all of which are employed by the spinnerets at the spider’s rear end.
Gossamer is made up of a blend of different proteins linked together in a chain: it consists of proteins rich in nonpolar (example; fats, oils, gasoline and petrol) and hydrophobic (example; oils, waxes and steroids) amino acids like glycine (C₂H₅NO₂ - white solid) and alanine (C3H7NO2 - white powder) but no (or very little) tryptophan (C11H12N2O2).
Glycine is a compound our bodies use to make protein. It is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cryoprotective and immunomodulatory in peripheral and nervous tissues.
Alanine is an alpha amino acid also used to make proteins. It is a hydrocarbon. Hydrocarbons are divided into two classes in biochemistry: aromatic compounds and aliphatic compounds (from the Greek word ‘aleiphar’ - fat/oil). Alanine falls into the latter category. Another example of an aliphatic compound is squalene, which is found in shark livers and the stomach oil of birds.
So spidersilk seems to be mainly made up of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen, with more hydrogen and carbon than any other element, making it an aliphatic hydrocarbon based substance. (I think. I’m not a scientist, I’m just making an educated guess.)
So why have we not spun our own clothes / harvested spidersilk? Multiple reasons.
The main reason being that spiders can’t be farmed like silkworms due to the fact that they will cannibalise each other in close proximity. The silk is so fine that it would take harvesting from 400+ spiders to make a single yard of silk. And the silk also hardens when exposed to air which makes it difficult to work with.
This silk hardens as it passes through the spider’s spinnerets. Also, the problem with trying to genetically engineer spidersilk ourselves is that we can only partially replicate its chemical makeup.

Also here’s the heckin chungus of a spider in question, with the world’s strongest web:

Tips for Choosing the Best Keratin Hair Serum for Your Hair Type
Choosing the best keratin hair serum can transform your hair care routine, but with so many products on the market, it’s crucial to understand your hair’s specific needs. Whether you have fine, thick, curly, or chemically treated hair, finding the right serum ensures your hair looks and feels its best. In this guide, we'll provide tips on choosing the best serum for dry hair, frizz, and damage while also highlighting the importance of using chemical-free hair serums.
1. Know Your Hair Type
To choose the best keratin hair serum, it’s important to understand your hair's characteristics:
Hair Texture: Is your hair fine, medium, or thick?
Porosity: Does your hair retain moisture well, or does it dry out quickly?
Frizz Level: How frizzy does your hair tend to get, especially in humid conditions?
Damage Level: Is your hair damaged by heat, coloring, or chemical treatments?
Understanding these factors helps you find the best serum for dry hair or the perfect serum for heat protection and moisture retention.
2. Best Keratin Serum for Fine or Thin Hair
People with fine or thin hair often need lightweight products to prevent their hair from feeling weighed down. While keratin serums can add shine and strength, avoid heavy formulas that might make fine hair greasy or flat.
What to look for:
Lightweight, non-greasy formula: Look for a serum that absorbs quickly and doesn’t add unnecessary weight.
Moisturizing but lightweight: Serums with ingredients like aloe vera and silk protein hydrate without being heavy.
Heat protection: Thin hair is more susceptible to heat damage, so a serum with heat-protective qualities is essential.
Recommended product: The OGX Smoothing + Liquid Pearl Serum is one of the best keratin hair serums for fine hair. It provides light coverage, smooths frizz, and adds shine without weighing the hair down.
3. Best Keratin Serum for Thick or Frizzy Hair
Thick or frizzy hair requires a more intensive keratin serum to manage frizz and lock in moisture. Rich, nourishing formulas are often best for these hair types.
What to look for:
Rich, hydrating formula: Opt for a heavier serum that smooths the cuticles and tames frizz.
Deep repair: A serum with keratin, argan oil, or coconut oil deeply penetrates the hair shaft, repairing damage from the inside out.
Long-lasting control: Choose a serum with lasting frizz control, especially in humid climates.
Recommended product: The GKhair Anti-Frizz Serum offers long-lasting moisture and frizz control, making it one of the best keratin hair serums for thick or frizzy hair types.
4. Best Keratin Serum for Curly or Wavy Hair
Curly and wavy hair tend to dry out more easily, making it essential to choose a hydrating yet lightweight keratin serum to maintain natural curls.
What to look for:
Hydration and moisture retention: A serum with glycerin or natural oils can seal moisture into curly hair.
Lightweight yet smoothing: Look for something that tames frizz without stiffening or weighing down your curls.
Frizz protection: A serum that protects against humidity is essential for curly hair to stay defined and frizz-free.
Recommended product: The Keratin 10 Miracle Leave-In Plus is a top choice, offering hydration and softness for curly or wavy hair without weighing it down. It’s also a great serum for dry hair, providing moisture where it’s needed most.
5. Best Keratin Serum for Colored or Chemically Treated Hair
If your hair has been chemically treated or colored, it likely needs extra care to recover from damage. Choosing a keratin serum designed to restore moisture, repair damage, and strengthen the strands is critical.
What to look for:
Damage repair: A serum with keratin, biotin, and amino acids helps repair damaged strands.
UV and heat protection: Look for serums that offer protection against heat styling tools and UV damage.
Hydration without residue: Chemically treated hair tends to be dry, so a serum that locks in moisture without leaving an oily residue is ideal.
Recommended product: The Well Straight Professional Hair Serum is perfect for color-treated or chemically damaged hair. It restores lost keratin, protects against further damage, and locks in moisture, making it one of the best keratin hair serums for damaged hair.
6. Consider Your Styling Routine
Finally, consider how you style your hair. If you frequently use heat styling tools like flat irons or curling irons, a keratin serum with heat protection is a must. On the other hand, if you prefer to air dry your hair, look for a serum that enhances shine and smoothness naturally.
Conclusion
Choosing the best keratin hair serum for your hair type can drastically improve the health and appearance of your hair. Whether you have thin, thick, curly, or chemically treated hair, there’s a keratin serum tailored to your needs. By selecting the right product—whether it's a serum for dry hair or a chemical-free hair serum—you can achieve the smooth, shiny, frizz-free hair you desire.

How would Verbena-Beth regain her strength - magically speaking - after a heavy exertion of her powers? What would such an exertion look like?
Ask Me Anything || Always Accepting
Tumblr media
We scaled the face of reason To find at least one sign That would reveal the true dimensions Of life lest we forget
- Dead Can Dance, “Anywhere Out of the World” ~*~
Quintessence. The Life Blood of the Tellurian and all things within its vast embrace. Heasha Morninglade, the current head of the Verbena tradition describes it as the 'raw silk from which we weave the Tapestry of reality.' By weaving the threads of Quintessence into different patterns and designs, we create all types of energy, matter, and life. Each individual pattern is part of the larger Tapestry and the patterns interact with, distort, enhance, and otherwise affect each other to create the things we see as real. Without that energy, the threads would unravel.
Some Quintessence can be found in solid form; toadstools from a faerie ring, crystals in a cave that resonate at a specific, otherworldly frequency, or even ~amongst those the Traditions consider enemies~ nuts and bolts from a very old machine, wondrous amino acid powder, a little black book whose pages are encrypted in a language even the feared and fabled Ivory Tower cannot suss out. These sorts of things are called Tass. Even the bodies of magickal beings hold this particular energy. How one of the Awakened manages to find and utilise tass can and has been lectured and debated upon for aeons. The best description of it that Beth has heard is that tass is not unlike temporarily frozen shards of Quintessence, floating on that vast sea of Prime, like chunks of ice floating in the ocean. Ice is still water, and will some day return to it's liquid form, yet while it is ice, a sculptor can wield his chisel to create objects of art, a soldier can create weapons, and a healer can create a compress to soothe a fevered brow. Beth finds the best and most significant way to regain Quintessence when she finds herself sorely depleted is to visit her Mother. Scattered all over the earth are wellsprings of raw Quintessence that the Awakened called nodes, and that her other kin might consider Caerns, where the essence bleeds into the real world. Most land-bound places are fiercely guarded by these kin and even her presence as someone who shares their genetics is often unwelcome. There is ancient history there that Beth doesn't like to think about. But Sea is different. The changing breeds are fewer, and the Quintessence that can be found on the shore or in the waters feels somehow...purer. And near Sea or within Her embrace, Beth meditates. Harvesting the energy serenely and storing it within herself while restoring the balance of being human...and not quite. She does not do this often, nor does she need to as her Arts tend to be subtle. A small tug on a thread here, another gentle weaving there. Beth knows the inherent danger of courting paradox, and is loathe to inflict a backlash on the sleepers who are innocent or at least ignorant. Despite her best intentions though, sometimes she finds herself in a position that demands action. ~*~
Beth loves snow. Where others see it as inconvenient at best, dangerous and life-threatening at worst, she's always felt a sense of wonder from the first time she experienced a real winter in New York. Snow is unbearably cold but it comes soft and delicate, each flake different than all others but as a whole they have a certain cohesion. Beth also has the luxury of being indoors, with heat and blankets and cocoa made from scratch. Just not tonight. The weather people had cast their oracles and predicted a bad blizzard. And despite having the night off, Beth knew it was only a matter of time before she got asked to come in for an extra shift, considering what would be the inevitable overflow. She was only two hours into her shift when the power began to flicker. An hour after that and a foot and a half of snow on the ground and the power grid failed, leaving the hospital to run on generators. And those are ancient, cranky mechanical beasts reluctant or incapable of sustaining the needs of the building, the individual wards, the coffee vending machine. Beth waits until there's a lull where she won't be missed before slipping into an unused supply closet. Closing her eyes and breathing out slowly, she takes out an emergency candle from her pocket, then the lighter she keeps in case someone might need it. The small flickering flame draws her half-lidded gaze and focuses her concentration. She watches the small wisps of smoke as they become a shadowy map of ley-lines within the walls, the circuits and wires Beth doesn't know much about. What she does recognise is the hum of electricity, lightning captured and harnessed to serve man. Dredging up a good deal of her own mana, she weaves the two together with the desired effect of prolonging the generator's power in a steady continual path capable of sustaining the intricate machinery and lights and heat throughout the building. It won't last more than a week, but even a few days is enough to ensure the NICU and the Emergency department are able to continue supporting the most fragile lives. Leaving the effect hanging, she snuffs the candle and disposes of the evidence before returning to the ER. For the rest of the night she haemorrhages magick in drips and drabs. Severe but non life-threatening injuries present as much lesser things. Twelve hours later, she's allowed to go home. Beth can barely hail a cab because her body is beyond exhausted. She is starving. But the snow is still beautiful.

Rinse-Off Conditioner for Damaged Hair: A Complete Guide to Restoring Strength and Shine
Hair damage is a common issue faced by many, often caused by factors such as heat styling, chemical treatments, sun exposure, and environmental stressors. A rinse-off conditioner can be an essential tool in repairing and restoring hair health, delivering targeted nourishment and hydration. Here’s a comprehensive guide to choosing and using the right rinse-off conditioner for damaged hair, along with tips to make the most of it in your hair care routine.
Why a Rinse-Off Conditioner Matters for Damaged Hair
Rinse-off conditioners are designed to be applied after shampooing and rinsed out, leaving a layer of nutrients and moisture that helps to repair and protect hair. For damaged hair, these conditioners offer targeted treatment by:
Restoring Moisture: Damaged hair is often dry and prone to breakage. A rinse-off conditioner restores lost moisture, helping to smooth and hydrate each strand, which reduces frizz and adds shine.
Strengthening Hair: Many conditioners contain proteins like keratin or silk amino acids, which strengthen weakened areas of hair and help to prevent further damage.
Detangling and Smoothing: The conditioning agents in rinse-off conditioners make it easier to detangle hair, which minimizes breakage and keeps the cuticle smooth.
Key Ingredients to Look for in a Rinse-Off Conditioner
Choosing a conditioner with the right ingredients is key to restoring damaged hair. Look for conditioners that contain:
Hydrolyzed Proteins: Keratin, silk, and wheat proteins can penetrate the hair shaft to rebuild weakened areas and provide strength. They’re especially beneficial for chemically treated or color-damaged hair.
Oils and Butters: Ingredients like argan oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and jojoba oil help lock in moisture and add shine. Oils work well to smooth and protect the hair cuticle, reducing frizz and giving hair a healthier appearance.
Amino Acids: Amino acids like proline and serine help to repair and nourish hair, making it more resilient and resistant to damage.
Vitamin B5 (Panthenol): This ingredient adds moisture, thickness, and shine to hair, and it’s particularly beneficial for fine or thin hair that needs extra support without added weight.
Silicones: Ingredients like dimethicone or cyclopentasiloxane provide a protective layer on the hair, helping to reduce friction, prevent breakage, and lock in moisture. However, if you prefer silicone-free products, look for conditioners with natural alternatives like squalane or grapeseed oil.
How to Use a Rinse-Off Conditioner for Maximum Benefits
Using a rinse-off conditioner correctly is crucial for achieving the best results. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Shampoo First: Always start with a gentle shampoo to remove dirt, oil, and buildup. This ensures that the conditioner can effectively penetrate the hair shaft and provide deeper treatment.
Apply Generously: After shampooing, apply a generous amount of conditioner to your damp hair, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. These are the areas most prone to dryness and damage.
Massage and Distribute Evenly: Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to distribute the conditioner evenly through your hair, ensuring all strands are coated.
Leave for a Few Minutes: For best results, let the conditioner sit in your hair for at least 2-5 minutes. This gives the ingredients time to penetrate and nourish your hair.
Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse out the conditioner with cool or lukewarm water, as hot water can strip away the conditioning agents and make hair prone to frizz. Ensure there’s no residue left in your hair.
Top Rinse-Off Conditioners for Damaged Hair
Here are some top-rated rinse-off conditioners that offer targeted repair and hydration for damaged hair:
Olaplex No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner: Known for its patented bond-building technology, Olaplex No. 5 helps repair broken bonds in the hair structure, making it ideal for chemically damaged or bleached hair.
L’Oréal Paris Elvive Total Repair 5 Conditioner: This affordable conditioner contains protein and ceramides that help to rebuild strength and smooth the surface of the hair, making it a great choice for daily repair.
SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydrate + Repair Conditioner: Made with manuka honey, yogurt protein, and mafura oil, this conditioner provides intense moisture and strengthens fragile hair.
Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Conditioner: Argan oil and keratin in this conditioner work to nourish and repair, leaving hair soft, shiny, and manageable.
Tips for Incorporating a Rinse-Off Conditioner into Your Routine
Use After Every Wash: Incorporating a rinse-off conditioner into every wash routine ensures your hair is receiving regular hydration and protection.
Combine with Deep Conditioning Treatments: For severely damaged hair, use a deep conditioning mask once a week in addition to your rinse-off conditioner. This provides an extra boost of moisture and repair.
Avoid Overusing Heat: While using a good rinse-off conditioner can help repair damage, it’s also essential to limit the use of heat tools. If you must use heat, always use a heat protectant to minimize further damage.
Be Consistent: Hair repair takes time, so consistency is key. Make your rinse-off conditioner a regular part of your routine to gradually improve your hair’s strength and resilience.
The Benefits of Using a Rinse-Off Conditioner for Damaged Hair
Regularly using a Rinse-off Conditioner for Damaged Hair tailored for damaged hair can significantly improve its health and appearance. With consistent use, you’ll notice benefits such as:
Reduced Breakage: Your hair will feel stronger, which minimizes split ends and breakage.
Improved Manageability: Conditioned hair is easier to detangle, which reduces friction and prevents additional damage.
Enhanced Shine and Smoothness: Healthy, moisturized hair reflects light better, giving it a shiny and smooth appearance.
Final Thoughts
Using a rinse-off conditioner for damaged hair is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to revive your hair and protect it from future damage. By choosing a conditioner with nourishing ingredients and incorporating it into a consistent routine, you’ll start to see smoother, healthier, and more resilient hair. So if you’re looking to restore and protect your damaged hair, start with a high-quality rinse-off conditioner and enjoy the journey to stronger, shinier locks.

How To Stop Hair Loss And Regrow Hair Naturally
Can you let your hair down on every single day? There are going to be days, most days, when you just want to give it a good tie-up and go about your work and chores. While the decision to let down or tie up long or medium-length hair is based on personal preference, hair type, and lifestyle, there are some factors to consider. In this blog, we’ll take you through factors that cause hair damage and loss, the visible signs of unhealthy hair, and the role of edge control for hair growth.
Tumblr media
Allowing hair to breathe can help maintain natural oils and prevent dryness. Some believe that letting the hair down can also promote growth as it reduces the tension of the hair follicles.
At the same time, tying up hair can protect hair from damage caused by friction, environmental pollutants, and the weather. Furthermore, styling your hair can offer certain protective hairstyles too such as twists, braids, and buns. One of the easiest ways to keep your hair out of your face, making it easier to manage is the convenience of tying your hair.
So, here are some important hair health measures to consider:
Protective hairstyles prevent breakage for curly and coily hair types.
Make sure the hairstyles are not too tight, leading to traction alopecia.
Choose styles that accommodate your lifestyle.
Vary between suitable hairstyles from time to time to maintain hair health and prevent damage.
Not taking proper care of your hair can lead to hair damage. You will find visible signs like:
Losing more hair than usual
Frequent breakage at the ends or along the shaft
Dryness and frizz due to hair lacking moisture, making it brittle and difficult to manage
Loss of natural hair shine that signals the hair has lost its nourishment
Itchy scalp, redness, and flaking, signaling scalp issues
Visible reduction in hair density – thinning of hair
Unusual hair loss patterns from circular patches and hair loss along the hairline
Tumblr media
Does Edge Control Grow Hair?
The Mane Drops of Glow Beauty Group works well with natural hair, gray hair, sister locks, protective styles, and 4C hair. It does not cause flaking or create an extremely firm hold. That said, it can hold even the strongest hair for up to 24 hours. The Mane Drops has a clear color, is paraben-free, and is humidity-resistant.
However, there are some edge control products out there that contain alcohol as a main ingredient. Do understand that a sleek and sophisticated look without having a frizzy hair hall out of place requires something strong. Alcohol does the job for that but not without its long-term consequences.
Using alcohol-infused edge control products on your hair for a prolonged period can cause drying of your hair follicles. So, the more you use alcohol-filled edge control, the higher the chances for hair follicles to become permanently damaged, causing hair loss.
The ideal properties of an edge control product
Here’s what you should keep in mind when buying an edge control:
Use alcohol-free edge control or products with low alcohol levels and hair-hydrating ingredients.
Do not leave other product applications on your hair while using the edge control.
Do not leave the edge control application on your hair overnight.
Alternate your hairstyles regularly between tight and loose.
Ingredients to look for in edge control products in the market:
Moisturizers: To prevent dryness and breakage: shea butter coconut oil, aloe vera, or jojoba oil
Humectants: To attract and retain moisture: Glycerin, hyaluronic acid
Proteins: To strengthen and protect hair: Silk amino acids and keratin
Emollients: For smoothening the hair cuticle and reduce the frizz: olive oil, castor oil
Avoid edge control products that contain the following ingredients:
Sulfates: Harsh detergents that can strip the hair of its natural oils.
Parabens: Preservatives linked to potential health concerns.
Mineral oil and petroleum jelly: To create a barrier on the hair but also prevent moisture penetration, leading to dry hair.
Alcohol: Copious amounts can make your hair extremely hair over a period.
Fragrances: Artificial fragrances that can irritate your scalp.
The Application of Edge Control
Tumblr media
When you use Edge Control, there is a specific approach to the application which you can read carefully:
Cleanse your hairline from any previously used products hair like sprays or gels, and so on.
Use a clean and unused toothbrush or our Glow Beauty hair brush. Use less of the application because we’re talking about applying to your hairline and not your entire hair.
Gently smooth the product along your hairline and shape the edges as desired.
If you want to obtain a longer hold, wrap your hairline edges with a silk scarf or edge band.
Once you are done using the edge control product, you can go about your day. However, as we mentioned, do not let the edge control stay on your hairline overnight. You have to wash it off, so here are some useful tips on how to remove edge control from hair:
Apply a mild shampoo to wash your hairline and remove the edge control.
Get a deep conditioner to help maintain a moisturized hairline.
Do not harshly scrub your hair during the wash. Be gentle so your hair-washing process does not lead to hair breakage.
Enjoy the beauty that edge control has to offer while also using it wisely and responsibly.
FAQs
1. How much is edge control?
The Glow Manetainer Edge Control along with the Glow Beauty Hair Brush will cost you $12.95.
2. Does Edge Control cause hair loss?
The Glow Manetainer Edge Control is voted the best edge control and hair growth stimulant for coarse and textured hair. All its ingredients are natural, plant-based, and paraben-free. If you are buying an edge control product from the market, it would be safer to buy a product that does not have alcohol as one of its core ingredients. While alcohol helps with a firm hold and a quick dry, it can also dry out your follicles, leading them to become more brittle and susceptible to breakage and hair loss in the long run.
3. What is a good edge control for natural hair?
Choose the Glow Manetainer Edge Control for natural hair as it has natural ingredients, is paraben-free, and is a plant-based product.

Frizz No More: Discover the Best Hair Serums for Perfectly Polished Hair
Frizzy hair can be a persistent issue, turning sleek, manageable locks into a chaotic mess. Factors like humidity, heat, and even the wrong hair products can exacerbate frizz, making it challenging to maintain a polished look. Fortunately, hair serum for frizzy hair can be a game-changer, providing a solution to tame unruly hair and achieve a smooth, shiny finish. In this article, we will explore the best hair serums available, how they work, and tips on choosing the right one for your hair type.
Understanding Frizz and How Hair Serums Help
Frizz occurs when the hair's outer layer, known as the cuticle, is raised, allowing moisture to enter the hair shaft. This causes the hair to swell and become frizzy. Hair serum for frizzy hair is designed to smooth the cuticle, lock in moisture, and provide a protective barrier against environmental factors that can cause frizz.
Hair serums are typically silicone-based, which helps to coat the hair, making it smoother and shinier. They also contain nourishing ingredients like argan oil, coconut oil, and vitamins that help to hydrate and repair damaged hair.
How to Pick the Best Hair Serum for Your Hair Type
When selecting a hair serum for frizzy hair, it's essential to consider your hair type and specific needs. Here are some tips to help you pick the best serum:
For Fine Hair: Look for lightweight serums that won't weigh your hair down. Products with ingredients like argan oil or silk proteins can add shine and smoothness without making your hair greasy.
For Thick or Coarse Hair: Choose richer, more nourishing serums that can provide the extra moisture and control needed to tame frizz. Ingredients like coconut oil, shea butter, and silicones can help manage thick, unruly hair.
For Curly Hair: Opt for serums that enhance and define your curls while controlling frizz. Look for products with hydrating ingredients like jojoba oil, olive oil, and glycerin to keep your curls soft and bouncy.
For Color-Treated Hair: Select serums that offer UV protection and color preservation. Ingredients like vitamin E, sunflower oil, and antioxidants can help protect your color from fading and keep your hair vibrant.

Tips for Using Hair Serums Effectively
Less is More: Start with a small amount of hair serum for frizzy hair and add more if needed. Using too much product can make your hair heavy and greasy.
Focus on the Ends: Apply the serum primarily to the mid-lengths and ends of your hair, where frizz is most likely to occur. Avoid the roots to prevent your hair from looking oily.
Distribute Evenly: Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to distribute the serum evenly through your hair. This ensures that every strand is coated and protected.
Apply to Damp Hair: For the best results, put the serum on damp hair before styling. This locks in moisture and creates a smooth base for your styling tools.
Reapply as Needed: If your hair starts to frizz throughout the day, you can apply a small amount of serum to dry hair to smooth flyaways and add shine.
Additional Benefits of Hair Serums
Hair serums offer more than just frizz control; they provide several other benefits that contribute to overall hair health and appearance:
Heat Protection: Many hair serums provide a protective barrier against heat damage from styling tools like blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons. This helps to maintain hair health and prevent breakage.
Enhanced Shine: Hair serums can add a beautiful, glossy finish to your hair, making it look healthier and more vibrant. The smoothing effect of serums reflects light better, giving your hair a natural shine.
Detangling: Hair serums can make it easier to comb through your hair, reducing tangles and knots. This is particularly beneficial for those with long or curly hair, which can be prone to tangling.
Moisture Retention: By sealing the hair cuticle, serums help to lock in moisture, keeping your hair hydrated and preventing dryness. This is especially important for frizzy hair, which tends to be drier and more prone to damage.
Smoothness and Softness: Regular use of hair serum can make your hair feel softer and smoother to the touch. The conditioning ingredients in serums help to nourish and improve the texture of your hair.
Conclusion
Frizz doesn't have to be a permanent part of your hair care woes. With the right hair serum for frizzy hair, you can achieve perfectly polished hair that's smooth, shiny, and manageable. Whether you have fine, thick, curly, or color-treated hair, there's a serum out there that can help you combat frizz and enjoy beautiful, frizz-free locks. Experiment with different products and find the one that works best for your hair type and needs. Say goodbye to frizz and hello to gorgeous, sleek hair
