Kagome went about her bedtime routine with newfound excitement.
The nightly ritual of taking a warm bath, putting on the most comfortable clothes available in her closet, following every step of an intricate skincare and eagerly succumbing into her soft mattress was always a divine experience on its own, but this night was different. Special.
Because this time there had been someone in the bath with her, complaining without pause that the water was way too hot and accusing her of scalding attempt. This time, her lace babydoll was tossed aside in favor of a worn out Queen t-shirt that did not belong to her. This time, her beauty products were interspersed with aftershave, cologne, deodorant — each one presenting a comically aggressive masculine title to describe their particular fragrance — and the second toothbrush that had now taken permanent residence next to hers. This time, there will be someone waiting for her on that mattress. And the night after that. And the night after that, and the night after that, until they equal a lifetime.
Kagome watched her reflection smile at her in the mirror, delighted at the concept of never having to say a long lasting goodbye, of coming home to him every single day, of falling asleep and waking up in his arms.
Not that she was a complete stranger to the feeling — they had stayed over at each other’s places as often as their work schedules would allow them — but there was a certain solemnity, an inexplicable sense of finality brought forth by calling her apartment theirs. And to be quite frank, Kagome loved the sound of that.
At the restless age of twenty six, the world insisted on shifting under her feet. Change itself was the only constant, the only steady variable in her life.
Until Inuyasha came along.
Suddenly, everything changed again, but for once it was in a way that made complete and perfect sense. As if, in the great scheme of things, every twist, every push and pull, every switch and every turn had led her there. Exactly where she was supposed to be.
Maybe it was naive, to believe in fate. Kagome wouldn’t go as far as to call herself a believer, at least not until he happened. Even so, if there really was such a thing, she had no doubt hers got sealed the minute his golden eyes locked with hers.
And life will go on, as life goes. Things will change, as things do. But this won’t. In a roaring sea of transformation, wave after wave of novelties and adjustments, Inuyasha was the shore she kept crashing into, a continuous presence she could forever rely on. That unshakeable knowledge was what made every other change bearable — almost irrelevant — because Kagome might not be one hundred percent sure of anything else, but she was completely and irrevocably sure of him.
That’s why there was little to no debate on whether or not they should take their relationship to the next level. It was a natural decision. Simple. Obvious. Water was wet and skies were blue and they needed to live together.
He had moved in with her that very morning.
Kagome finished applying the unscented moisturizer she got acquainted with ever since they started dating and stepped out of the bathroom to find Inuyasha taking full advantage of their shared Netflix account, lying in her bed — their bed — on the side he had unconsciously claimed as his for what it felt like had been ages ago.
His attention turned to her right away, as if he had been aware of her every move the entire time.
Which he probably was.
A wide grin broke into Inuyasha’s face while he appreciatively scanned through her figure. Keeping his gaze on her, he raised the remote, effectively making the incessant noise of explosions, gunshots and people screaming bloody murder on whatever action movie he was watching come to an end.
“Ready for bed?”
Inuyasha himself was a sight to behold, nothing covering his body except plain white sheets and the pitch black ink of his tattoos. It was amazing how he managed to simultaneously look like both a fish out of water and the final piece that fit precisely there, setting the puzzle of her life complete.
“That’s an understatement,” she said.
He had done all the heavy lifting for the day while Kagome had helped out in any other way she could, cleaning, unpacking and organizing until there were no boxes left. Although her tasks were considerably less demanding, physically speaking, it’s also true that Inuyasha had the upper hand: his demonic genes made it so he had an infinite supply of energy.
She was exhausted. Inuyasha, on the other hand, seemed positively unbothered by the exertion — be it from moving furniture around, be it from the R rated bath they took after to celebrate.
Kagome turned off the lights and joined him on the bed, where she was welcomed with a chast, sweet kiss. They had to be careful. The smallest of touches, the simpler of looks could reignite a blaze they knew Kagome was too tired to put out.
At that moment, she wanted nothing more than to be cuddled and Inuyasha could instinctively tell. There was a point — and neither Kagome nor Inuyasha were able to put the finger on the exact second it happened — when her needs became as clear and as important to him as his own.
He pulled away ever so gently, surprisingly faking a yawn and turning his back to her, hogging the blanket in the process.
“Good night.”
Her lips hung agape, still tingling from the touch and paralyzed in confusion.
Kagome blinked fast, recovering even faster.
“Oh,” she snorted, “so this is how it’s gonna be.” Partially retrieving the covers and tucking herself in, her back strategically turned to Inuyasha. Two could play this game. “Fine. Suit yourself.”
“What?” He asked, feigning ignorance. “Did ya want somethin’?”
She could practically hear his infuriating grin, picture with astonishing accuracy the little fang stubbornly poking out.
Hell would freeze over, though, before Kagome gave him the satisfaction of begging for it. There had been plenty of begging during their bath already and she refused to indulge his sadistic habit of making her thrash and plead for something they both wanted, only to give it to her anyway.
That she had done just that not much earlier was irrelevant.
This was a battle of wills.
And she had every intention to come out victorious.
“You’re the worst.”
Pretending nonchalance, Kagome waited.
Then waited.
And waited.
Inuyasha didn’t budge an inch. So she did.
Knowing he wouldn’t resist physical contact, Kagome moved backwards. Closer. Carefully. Slowly. In what she was confident to be a subtle, elusive advance, hoping to try and ask with her body what she refused to demand out loud.
In retaliation, Inuyasha caught one of the many, many pillows at his disposal and deliberately set it between them.
“What are you doing?!” Kagome half chuckled, half exclaimed and completely amused that he was onto her. And rather quickly. People used to say she is an open book and perhaps that’s true. Or perhaps Inuyasha is the most avid reader she has ever met.
“Tryin’ to sleep,” was his answer. Kagome wasn’t having it. Unceremoniously and unapologetically, she grabbed the offending pillow that separated them and tossed it to the other side of the bedroom. Without a word, she resumed her previous position, feeling like she had won that round.
Inuyasha took another pillow and simply replaced the one she had discarded.
That was it.
“Inuyasha!”
Before he could properly nestle it between their bodies, Kagome stole the pillow away to hit him with it. Repeatedly. He broke into a fit of laughter, not an uncommon occurrence when it was at her temper’s expense.
“Alright, alright,” Inuyasha surrendered, lowering the toned forearms that shielded him from her fury to regain the pillow, tossing it aside and pulling Kagome to him in a swift moviment, her back perfectly molding to his chest. He sneaked his arm under her shirt — a compromise he made so he could see Kagome in his abnormally large clothes without having to fully give up the enjoyments of her naked skin — and wrapped it tightly around her waist. “That's what you wanted?” He breathed in her ear, forging a trail of kisses from her neck to her shoulder.
Kagome let out a satisfied sigh, her sleepy mind hoping that it’d be enough of a confirmation. Their legs tangled up on their own accord and her eyelids closed, at last.
“Sweet dreams,” he wished.
But she was already living in one.

A/N.: hey @inukag-week it's officially my favorite week of the year! Happy Inukag Week, everybody! Today's prompt is "domestic" and it coincided with Valentine's Day here in Brazil, so I went extra fluffy there.
Speaking of Brazil, those of you who watched Big Brother Brasil this year have probably caught the "pillow fight" reference I threw in there. Don't judge me. I'm only human.
Last but not least @lostinfantasyworlds I can't believe I missed your birthday. Here, have a very short, very belated and yet full of love birthday gift dedicated to you. Hope I can offer you something juicer next year.

Kagome could barely contain her enthusiasm.
Precisely five years ago, she and Inuyasha shared the kiss that marked the beginning of everything.
And five years from now, Kagome was sure she’d still remember how magical it felt. The lights. The band. Slow dancing to Thing For You. How his lips touched hers and a crowd of thousands disappeared.
Which is why she knew from the moment Hinder announced a concert in their town on the exact same date of their anniversary, that she had to take Inuyasha as a gift. Even the most cynical of men couldn’t ignore a sign when the stars aligned and Kagome was no cynical nor man.
She had made the purchase the very night the tickets were available, not wanting to ever risk them getting sold out before she secured theirs, but steep prices aside, this was the easy part.
Keeping it from Inuyasha had been the real challenge.
It was a true miracle that Kagome made it. She had lived in constant fear that he would see right through her or that she wouldn’t be able to hold her tongue for much longer. The temptation to tell him was almost irresistible. Almost.
Retrieving the little cards from their hidden place — the far end of the spice cabinet Inuyasha avoided like the plague — Kagome walked with her hands behind her back to the living room, where her boyfriend sat casually on the couch.
“Alright, it’s gift exchanging time.”
Inuyasha put his phone down, a devastating grin slowly gracing his features.
“And what makes you think I have a gift to give you?”
“Because you do.”
He rolled his eyes and Kagome chuckled.
“Smartass,” Inuyasha muttered, “I’m guessing from the way you’re nearly jumping from one foot to the other that you wanna go first.”
She nodded and brought her hand upfront to finally reveal its content.
“Hinder is playing tonight and I bought you a ticket,” Kagome blurted out “actually, I bought us two tickets,” she clarified, her fingers sliding so the second ticket could be seen.
“Kagome—”
“Yes, I know we had a budget limit. I just thought that the opportunity was too perfect to ignore. I mean, when will a Hinder concert ever happen here, on this, of all days? It’s gotta be kismet, right?”
“Kagome—”
“Plus, don’t you think we deserve to have some fun? Even if it’s a bit expensive? How long has it been since we’ve done something for the hell of it? Let’s go have an adventure and… why aren’t you excited?” She questioned, noticing that he looked less thrilled the more she rambled.
Inuyasha sighed and got up, making his way to the notebook case laying on the table. Kagome watched, puzzled, as he unfastened the zipper, fished something out of it, then returned to her side.
“Happy anniversary," he said, offering her an identical pair of tickets.
Dumbfounded, Kagome stared at them. At Inuyasha. And back at them.
“You gotta be kidding me.”
“Nope.”
The couple started laughing. Uncontrollably.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Inuyasha and Kagome asked, in unison. “I wanted it to be a surprise.” They replied simultaneously.
Kagome giggled.
“Are we becoming the same person?”
Tickets still in hand, she wrapped her arms around his neck.
“Fine by me.” Inuyasha pulled her close, his hands finding her waist with expertise.
“What do we do now?”
“We can try and sell two of these, get our money back,” he suggested, “or we can invite Miroku and Sango to come along.”
“It’s only fair, considering they were there the last time.”
“Hey, as long as we get to ditch them again.”
“Are you planning to take me on a romantic getaway?”
“You bet your sweet ass I am.”

A/N.: @inukag-week wrote this for the "anniversary" prompt. It's not much and I'm super late, but here it is.
Also, I really love Thing For You by Hinder so if this sounds awfully self indugent... it's because it is.

CHAPTER TWO: Is Your Seatbelt On?

“Alright!” Inuyasha let himself fall comfortably on the passenger seat of his car and closed the door beside him in a swift move, his arm already hanging carelessly on the open window. Riding shotgun was a foreign sensation, but he didn’t mind. Not when it was her behind the steering wheel. “You ready?”
“I don’t know,” admitted Kagome, sinking on her spot slightly. Her hands were squeezing the wheel harder than necessary and — Inuyasha could only assume — also sweating.
His girlfriend didn’t know how to drive.
And what kind of man would Inuyasha be if he didn’t offer to teach her?
“Don’t worry,” he said, stroking her hand with the intention to ease the tension of her white knuckles. “I’m here, aren’t I?”
That seemed to do the trick. Kagome let out a deep sigh and slowly pulled herself up.
“Okay,” she muttered to herself, a moment before her confidence caught up. “Okay, let’s do it.”
And there it was: the determined expression that never fails to get him weak in the knees. Kagome had been blessed with the kind of beauty that simply could not be denied. And he should know. He had tried to. For some people, it was the body: petite and curvy. For others, it was the angelic face: delicate and impossible to forget, framed by long black locks and decorated with the most gorgeous doe eyes. For Inuyasha, it was all of it. But mostly the way her fierceness highlighted everything else.
Without permission, a wide grin spread across his face.
“That’s my girl.”
Knowing she had previously studied the theoretical part of it on her own, Inuyasha limited himself to walk Kagome through the practical basics, instructing her to start the engine as soon as she got the hang of it.
It amused him to no end, to think there was a time he couldn’t figure her out. Now, he was almost able to listen to her, mentally reciting and crossing off the items of her list as she went through it: put on the seatbelt, check. Get the car started, check. Shift the car into drive, check. Set the turn signal on, check.
“Is your seatbelt on?”
Inuyasha looked at his girlfriend as if she had grown a second head.
“What?”
“Your seatbelt,” she repeated, even though both of them knew half demons didn’t need a seatbelt and that he had heard her just fine.
“You can’t be serious.”
“Of course I am.”
It was too much. The laugh Inuyasha had been suppressing roared through the air and brought tears to his eyes.
“What’s so funny? You wear it all the time.”
“Yeah, so I don’t get a ticket. But there’s no one around.”
He had purposefully picked a deserted road. Since it was her first time driving, might as well make it easier on her.
“You could still get hurt if anything goes wrong.”
“And I’d be good to go by morning, but I’m glad to see how much you believe in your own skills.”
“Jerk!” She hit his shoulder with her tiny fist and Inuyasha couldn’t help but to keep laughing. “Maybe you don’t care if you get hurt, but I do!”
The honesty of her statement made him stop. After his mother died, he was alone, having to take care of himself every step of the way. It always took him off guard, when someone else did it. Softening his expression, Inuyasha leaned towards her.
“Babe,” he breathed, closing the gap between them and allowing his lips to show her with actions the appreciation they couldn’t with words. Fluent in his love language, Kagome kissed him back until he finally pulled away. “You’re such a pain.” Watching her flushed face regain awareness of time and space, he laughed again. “‘Is your seatbelt on?’ I should be the one asking you, clumsy.”
“Well, I fastened mine ages ago. Unlike you.”
If the raised eyebrow wasn’t suggestive enough, Kagome made a point of gazing at his seatbelt, then at him. Rolling his eyes, Inuyasha gave in.
“There. Happy?”
“Very.”
The brightest smile graced her features while she nodded. God help him, he just might end up marrying this one.
“Then quit stalling and let’s get the hell outta here.”

“Ugh! I’m so bored.”
“And what of it?”
“Well… shouldn’t I be heading home, then? Let’s be honest, we’re ice cold. Naraku is nowhere to be found and I haven’t sensed a shard in weeks. At least there I could get some homework done.”
“No fucking way! You sure like to take your sweet time whenever you go home and I always end up having to drag your ass all the way back here. What if something happens while you’re away?”
“You said it yourself. Go through the well and fetch me!”
“Kaede’s village is two days away! Ain’t got no time for that.”
Kagome groaned, knowing he had a point but refusing to acknowledge it out loud. Lying down on the soft grass with a thud, arms and legs spread, she blew a few hair strands out of her face, only to watch the cotton white clouds parade across the blue infinity of the sky.
It was a beautiful day.
“Geez! Should've gone searching for supplies with Miroku and Sango if I’m such a bother to be around.”
Rolling over to her belly, Kagome turned her attention to him, chin carefully placed on her hands.
Inuyasha was sulking against the trunk of a tree. Legs and arms crossed in his signature pose. For someone so rough around the edges, he could certainly be sensitive sometimes. Noticeably when it came to stuff she says. Kagome had yet to find out if this was truly an isolated phenomenon or if she was just looking too much into it.
“Of course I couldn’t go with them! It would totally kill the mood. Besides, I like hanging out with you, but you’re not exactly the talking type.”
“I just figured you’d do enough talking for the both of us,” he retorted.
“Usually I would. Guess I ran out of topics.”
“Never thought I’d see the day.”
Kagome showed him her tongue and they fell into silence. Customarily, it tended to be comfortable. Bickering as they might, they were still friends. And there was a deep solace, an indescribable enjoyment they found in each other’s company. Except for when those familiar feelings come creeping in. Anxiety, for falling behind her classmates. Guilt, for the lack of productivity. When she was studying, Kagome felt like she should be hunting the jewel pieces. When she was hunting the jewel pieces, Kagome felt like she should be studying. When she was doing neither...
Kagome sighed heavily.
A quick scan of their surroundings revealed nothing she hadn’t seen before. Tree. Tree. Wild flowers. Tree. Shippo using Kirara as a pillow while the duo took a nap. More trees. Her backpack…
Her backpack!
She jumped to her feet and raced to it.
Unfastening the zipper, Kagome shoved her hand inside, combing between items.
“Oi, watcha doin’?"
“I have an idea.”
Toilet paper. No. Matches. Also no. Towel. Flashlight. Blanket. Pads. Toothbrush. No, no, no, no, no. Finally, as she was about to give up and flip the damn thing upside down, her fingers caught what she wanted.
Kagome zipped the backpack closed and walked to Inuyasha, kneeling in front of him with the mini necessaire in hands, barely being able to contain her excitement.
“Can I do your makeup?”
“What?”
“I actually brought it for Sango, but you’re here and she isn’t. Please? It’ll give me something to do.”
“I don’t wear that shit.”
“There’s a first for everything.”
“No.”
“Please?”
“No!”
“Please?” Kagome pouted, waiting for him to break and trying her best to give off the adorable, pleading puppy effect.
“Nope. And that ain’t gonna work this time. Quit it with the pleading eyes.”
Relentlessly, she sustained his gaze for a bit longer, until she felt his resolve cave.
“Please?”
A second passed. Two. Three. Then Inuyasha finally rolled his eyes.
“Fine,” he sighed, “but nothin’ too gaudy.”
“Really? Oh, thank you! This is gonna be so much fun.”
“Keh. Whatever. Just get it over with.”
Kagome didn’t need to be told twice. Smiling up at him, she opened up the makeup bag and got to work.
First step was skincare.
She inspected her human palette. Or half human palette, as it were. He looked… Ethereally clean. A perk of being a supernatural creature, perhaps? Kagome knew, however, that this alone didn’t mean she was free to skip washing and cleansing altogether.
Slowly, Kagome brushed his bangs out of the way, noticing how utterly perfect his skin was. Did he even have pores? Inuyasha stiffed under her inspection as she applied the cleanser, crinkling his nose at the smell.
“Have you ever had a pimple in your life?”
“Have I ever had a what?”
“Nevermind,” she chuckled, immensely amused and a tad jealous. That was the only answer she needed before moving along to moisturizing. He was soft and warm against her fingertips as she spread the lotion gently. Red colored his cheeks and when Kagome threw Inuyasha an inquisitive look, she caught him already staring.
He cleared his throat and fixed his focus somewhere else. Anywhere else.
“Th-this one smells kinda nice.”
“It’s orange blossom and wild strawberries scented,” she explained, “one of my favorites.”
His head snapped back to her.
“Fruit? Can I eat it?”
“Absolutely not! It’s not food.”
“But you said—”
“You can’t eat it,” Kagome interrupted, putting the moisturizer away for good measure and fighting the urge to laugh, knowing he would take it the wrong way if she did.
There were no flaws to cover, so foundation and concealer were mostly used to keep the makeup on for longer, highlight his best features and humor herself. Like magic, every angle became sharper, every contour line firmer and well pronounced. Thinner. More mature. His jawline, always defined and strong, now seemed able to cut glass.
“Close your eyes.”
Inuyasha obeyed, the vision bringing a sweet smile to Kagome’s lips. His expression was so vulnerable, so peaceful. It was crazy to think there was a time he would never have let his guard down around her, never have allowed her to get this close, never have trusted her this much. It was a privilege she refused to take for granted.
Kagome fished the eyeshadow palette out of the necessaire, its tones rich and vibrant.
Nothing too gaudy, she remembered him saying.
Ditching the product, Kagome went for a pitch black eyeliner instead, appreciating how smoothly the pigmentation adhered to his eyelids with a sleight of her hand. Satisfied, she proceeded to apply her most powerful mascara for volume and elongation.
“Can I open my eyes now?”
“Hold on,” she said, finishing a second coat of mascara. “Alright. You can open them now.”
Kagome forgot how to breathe the moment he did.
There was something about the way the dark ink contrasted with his golden irises and moonlight hair that filled her stomach with butterflies, all of them taking flight at once, encouraging her to float.
“What? What's wrong?”
It took a while for Kagome to find her voice.
“Nothing,” she hurried to soothe, not wanting him to panic. “Nothing. It’s just… It brings out your eyes.”
It was an understatement.
It felt like the sun had made permanent residence in his gaze, giving up the skies to become the center of her universe, keeping her warm, causing something she couldn’t quite name to grow inside her chest with its light.
“My… my eyes?” He repeated, dumbfounded. “Don’t be stupid.”
“I’m not stupid, I’m serious.”
“Do you… Do you like me better this way?”
Surprised by the intensity of his tone, Kagome pondered the question in her mind, willing to treat it with the importance it required.
“This is a nice change, but… I like you just the way you are.” It was her turn to blush, pretending not to see the sheer relief that crossed his face when he nodded. She combed through the purse for the final makeup items, holding one on each palm for him to pick. “Now… Chapstick or lipstick?” Inuyasha pointed to the product on her left hand. “Chapstick it is. Open your mouth.”
“What the hell?”
“Inuyasha, what did you think a chapstick was for?”
“I dunno, but this feels… Weird.”
“It’s not weird. Stop being a baby.”
Despite her words, Kagome didn’t apply the chapstick directly on his lips, choosing instead to use her fingers. It was her personal chapstick and the idea of Inuyasha’s lips touching the same object that touched hers daily made her heart race.
Inuyasha followed her every movement as she carefully ran her thumb through his stubbornly sealed lips.
“Alright,” she announced, breaking the spell. “I’m done.”
“It tastes delicious.” He stated, licking the chapstick away.
“Maybe cherry flavor wasn’t a good call.”
Putting some space between herself and Inuyasha, Kagome stood back to admire her masterpiece when a sudden realization made her press her lips together to prevent a laugh.
“What now?”
“Nothing.”
“Let me see it.”
“Inuyasha, there’s really no n—”
“Now, Kagome.” She reluctantly handed Inuyasha a mirror and observed as he faced his own reflection. “I don’t get it. I thought you liked it.”
“I did. It’s just… You kind of look like your brother.”
“KAGOME!”
His indignant scowl was what did her in.
She exploded into laughter, loud and hard until her side began to hurt.
“Inuyasha, wait. Wait, wait, wait, where are you going?”
“To take this crap off my face before the runt wakes up and sees me!”
