Hi ma'am. It was said that Shusei and Hotsuma tried to have children to increase Zweilt population in their former life but "no such children were born". Does this mean they weren't able to conceive or just the children born weren't of Zweilt nature? Maybe its irrelevant but its kind of sad if they weren't able to conceive at all :(
Sorry it took me a bit to reply. I have a loooot going on. I always assumed it meant they couldn’t conceive since Zweilt x Zweilt would have a pretty good chance for having a Zweilt. I could get technical and talk about how the phrase “no such” implies that rather than no children, there were “no such” (aka Zweilt) children. I think that’d be looking too far into it since that’s a translation thing since thing do slightly vary by translation. Example, German translation says Reiga plays Dragon Quest, English says Zelda, and Japanese says off brand zelda

the recent ask that u got about btu got me in a yapping mood 😩 i really love btu and i think about that series at least twice a day lol
i've always thought that shuji was such a coward with the way he acted around y/n when they first got together and i honestly applaud y/n's patience for dealing with shuji's shitty treatment 😭 idk how y/n was able to put up with all of that and it really seemed like she wanted to try and make the marriage work or at least just get along with shuji but he's just not cooperating and straight up being an asshole towards her 😪 i also have a few questions and if u don't feel like answering any or all of them then it's totally fine!! but here are my questions:
1. is shuji y/n's first time? bc if he is, then i wonder how it went like did it happen on their honeymoon? actually, did they even have a honeymoon or shuji didn't even bother to give her that 😭
2. did any of the other bonten members and rival gangs find y/n really attractive? and were there any rival gangs who were also asking y/n's hand for marriage?
3. if ichika and shuji were together for quite a while, why didn't shuji marry her already or even made their relationship public? was it bc shuji's been long aware that kisaki will set him up for an arranged marriage?
4. my last question and also my roman empire!!! i've always thought about an alternative scenario wherein y/n and chifuyu's relationship actually went well bc chifuyu's feelings for y/n always seemed genuine 😌 like what if they're living together in hiding and y/n's feelings for shuji are completely gone, and when shuji finds out about all of that i wonder how he will react 🤭
again i apologize for having a lot of questions, im just into btu like that 😭 thank u for giving us btu and i am looking forward to reading ur future works, i hope that u'll have a great day 💙
nonnie im so sorry for the late reply, i was marinating the reply and didnt want to give a half-assed response so im firing up my yapgine for you !! i lovee how you love this series sm and im so grateful to always receive asks for it <3
honestly, youre so valid. y/n really did want to work things out with shuji even after her memory loss because that was her default intentions even before she encountered the accident </3 but shuji wasn't cooperative because to him, y/n didn't really matter :(
oooo i loveeee questions !!! i'll do my best to answer them !!!
1. due to her strict upbringing, y/n is in fact a virgin and yes, shuji was her first time. its alluded in the first chapter that they didnt have a honeymoon because shuji went on a holiday with bitchika instead and left her stranded
2. y/n's beauty is more understated and shes not as showy as the other girls hanging around toman (because of her upbringing). the one person who did find her quite charming is our second man chifuyu ofc
3. actually 🤓☝️ it was ichika who wasnt ready for marriage with him. it's hinted in chap 4 or 5 that shuji did want to marry her, but because of the trauma she endured from her parents (i didnt state it but they're actually dead so she and her sister were raised by grandma harumi) and her perception of how dangerous shuji was as the reaper, she was reluctant to consider commitment with him
4. OHHH i love this scenario !! i think if y/n's feelings for shuji were gone, she would 110% be with chifuyu! he's respectful and sweet (plus kinda hot too if we're being honest hfhfh) and she would have no problem falling in love with him after working through her trauma ..... as to how shuji would react, it would honestly be the most soul crushing thing to him and he would try his damndest to break them up using shusei as ammo to repair their marriage back

Parlay (Kuroo x Reader) | Chapter 5
-Pairing: Kuroo Tetsurou x Reader (ft. Roommate Kenma)
Word Count: ~2,300
Genres: Fluff, angst if you squint, general buffoonery
CW: Some more swearing, secondhand embarrassment lol
Summary: (Y/N), a first-year student attending Tokyo U, is living with her best friend, Kozume Kenma. Little did she know, her life would be turned upside down after being exposed to Kenma’s volleyball teammate and close friend, Kuroo Tetsurou. One wrong move, and the parlay’s stakes only get higher each time.
Chapters: First | Previous | Next
Grandmother had nearly given herself a stroke from agreeing so fast to (Y/N)’s request for a half shift that day.
“Is it for school? Is it for friends? Oh, (Y/N)-chan, is it for a man or a woman?” the old woman bombarded the girl she treated like a grandchild with questions. It was rare for (Y/N) to take a day off, much less request one. She shook her head.
“Nothing like that, Gran. My friends invited me to watch their volleyball game. Our school is very highly ranked.”
“Ah, your Tooru-kun plays on that team, doesn’t he?” (Y/N) watched as Grandmother cut a mango into slices and presented them on a bed of sticky rice. The young girl served the dish to a table by the window: a young father and his young daughter.
“The usual, for my favorite father-daughter duo!” she smiled sweetly at the pair. The father looked up from his computer.
“Thank you, (Y/N)-san. Look, Miki! What’s this?” he asked his 2-year-old. The little brown-haired girl looked away from the window to meet her father’s gaze. She had plump little rosy cheeks streaked with dried milk.
“Mangey!” she chirped. Before her father could react, the child had taken a fistful of mango and shoved it mostly into her mouth, though, the majority ended up on those round cheeks of hers. The man sighed, but not without a nonetheless adoring look at his daughter.
“I’m glad she likes it, “ (Y/N) giggled, “I’ll be back to check on you two in a few minutes, Suzuki-san.”
Making her way back to the kitchen, leaning against a side table covered in clean glass cups, (Y/N) took a moment to bask in the warm embrace of the place that felt like her true home. The kitchen was smaller than most tea houses of that size and of that popularity than the average place would normally have. Grandmother, however, made sure the place was immaculate. (Y/N) looked over the small plastic bins of ingredients, each one placed based first on health code requirements, then by frequency. Filling for songpyeon took up the largest bin. Continuing her conversation with Grandmother, she said, “Yes, Tooru is on that team,” she chuckled, “They practically begged him to play for them.” Grandmother dried her hands on a dish towel.
“Well, if you ever manage to pull him off the court, feel free to bring him around. That boy’s always neglected to eat,” the old woman griped.
Opening her mouth to reply, the ringing of the front door bell interrupted (Y/N)’s reply. With a quick swipe her hands over her apron, she swung out of the kitchen and greeted their new guests.
“Welcome in-- Oh! Hi, you two! Welcome in.” Before her stood her best friend and roommate and his tall, stressfully attractive childhood friend. Kenma’s dyed-blonde hair was mostly grown out - he’d been too busy (and too lazy) to get it redone. Kuroo’s catlike eyes crinkled as he smiled at her.
“Good morning, (Y/N)-san.”
“Hi, (Y/N).”
The female led the two boys over to a booth across from the kitchen entrance. Away from the volleyball players’ line of sight, the other three servers working today poked their heads out from the kitchen doorway. Chisato, Grandmother’s actual granddaughter, was fanning herself dramatically, while Shusei and Tamaki were busy ogling Tokyo U’s handsome spiker. (Y/N) rolled her eyes at them. The boys took the menus she handed them.
“Can I start you two off with anything to drink?”
“Water, please.”
“Just a water,” because they were in college, and broke ass college students can’t afford not-water.
Kenma didn’t even open his menu before handing it back to her.
“Something with pork,” he said, after which he pulled out his phone and started scrolling through his emails.
Without batting an eye, the server girl replied, “You got it!” Then, she turned to Kuroo.
“Would you like something specific or if you want, you can give me a general preference like Kenma did, and I’ll give you something you’d like.”
The menu was somewhat thick for a tea house, which Kuroo noticed was because they didn’t just have one country’s dishes, as Chisai’s selection contained an incredible variety.
Now, Kuroo wanted to say either, ‘I trust your judgement’, or ‘I’ll enjoy whatever you put on the table in front of me.’ Sadly, the poor mess of a boy was so preoccupied with thinking about how the girl in front of him was definitely not super adorable in her white collared-shirt and her totally not endearing plaid apron, much less how absolutely unlovable it was that she had flour in her hair from tucking it behind her ear so often. He ended up making a strangled choking sound and saying, “I table.”
Everyone blinked. Forget being a cat, Kuroo fought to repel his inner badger that wanted to dig a hole, crawl inside, and never come out. Kenma was turning red keeping his laughter contained, and as if the universe hadn’t decided it wanted to be a complete dick to the wild-haired boy, he accidentally glanced up at (Y/N)’s cute expression with her brows furrowed, and her lips puckered in confusion.
‘Ahhhhhhhh,’ he thought as his brain short-circuited. Finally, finally, (Y/N) smiled at him gently.
“It’s alright, I do that a lot. Try again?” Oh sweet Karasuno’s resident Jesus, what a sweetheart. Desperate to redeem himself, Kuroo cleared his throat.
“Ahem, I-- Uh-- What’s your favorite dish here?”
‘Amazing job, Tetsurou. You fucking nailed that, Tetsurou. You, sir, are a smooth criminal,’ he told himself. (Y/N)’s bright expression from his question was almost worth making a fool of himself. Almost.
“Ah! Well, I love everything here, and I promise I really do, I’m not contractually obligated to say that, hehe, and it really depends what you prefer personally - everything is delicious.” Kuroo’s soul left his body when she shuffled to his side and leaned over him slightly to point at specific dishes on the menu. She smelled of fresh linen and of fresh baked goodies.
‘Hngggghhhhh, smell good, good smell,’ the poor boy’s brain cells were failing him at the moment, and had been for the past couple of minutes.
“So, if you like shrimp, the har gao comes in orders of 4 and they’re more filling than they look--” (Y/N)’s voice faded away as Kuroo’s brain kept trying to figure itself out like a computer with too many open tabs and had a software virus called, ‘(Y/N) Smells Divine And It’s Not Fair.exe.’ Kuroo knew he was better than this. He knew he was charming and likable. There was no reason for him to totally crumble like he was. From knowing Kuroo so long, Kenma could tell he was struggling, and, out of pity, he lightly kicked his ankle so the girl above him wouldn’t notice. Luckily, that little jolt woke him up enough to catch the tail end of her explanation.
“--you can get it with egg noodles, which I love personally, and Gran gets the duck from a nearby vendor, so you know it’s fresh. It’s especially popular around this time since it’s getting a bit cold,” she finished. It looked like he hadn’t been zoned out for too long. Steeling himself, Kuroo shifted in the cracked burgundy seat.
“That last one sounds great, thank you,” he croaked. Taking the menu from him, (Y/N) told them their order would be out “in a jiffy,” and Kenma’s wheezing stopped him from short-circuiting again.
“What-- Hah-- What was that?” he cackled. Kenma didn’t laugh very hard. Even when he watched Plant compilations or looked at memes, he mostly just blew air through his nose, at best, but here, Kuroo was starting to worry about the shade of blue his friend was turning.
“I--uh” Kuroo started, ‘got distracted by the way she was being adorable and the way her perfume--NO! Tetsurou! BRO-CODE!’. “I’m just a little out of it today I guess.”
“Clearly. You stumbled your words in front of (Y/N) like a panini-head.”
Kuroo couldn’t deny that statement one bit. How had he managed to look like such a panini-head? Why now of all times? Was he nervous? God forbid if he thought he might have a slight crush on this girl because for heaven’s sake he wasn’t about to break the sacred Bro-Code. Before he could go off on his own tangent, (Y/N) walked over to their table carrying a couple of plates in her hands.
“Alrighty, so I’ve got the house cha siu bao for Kenma, and the egg noodle soup with roast duck for Kuroo-san. Is there anything else I can get for you guys?”
“I’m good for now thanks, (Y/N)” Kenma replied as he quickly began eating the fresh, hot pork buns.
“It looks great!” Kuroo responded, his face gleaming with excitement and anticipation of how the food will taste. His expression suddenly changed to a sly smirk, “but you know (Y/N)-san, this meal would be much better if you join us~”
‘Nice, I’ve redeemed myself. Ten points to gryffindor.’
“I’m sorry Kuroo-san, but my shift doesn’t end for another couple of hours. If I end early, I might not be able to make it to the game like I promised.” (Y/N) smiled back innocently.
Before Kuroo was able to say anything, he heard Kenma let out a small, “Pft, rejected”, from beside her.
‘Aaaand, just kidding’
Kuroo miraculously recovered, somehow, and managed to say, “Ah I see. Well thanks for the food, I’m really looking forward to it!”
“Of course! Please enjoy, and let me know if you guys need anything else.” And with that, (Y/N) went back to the kitchen to get more food to serve to customers.
Kenma was deep into his second pork bun when Kuroo dug into his own meal. The duck was perfectly moist with a savory skin. The egg noodles were boiled to a perfect texture. He could’ve wept. The exquisite flavor of the egg noodle soup distracted him from his horrific failure as a human being just a moment ago. Once he’d sated his appetite, he leaned back in his chair. The setter across from him looked totally boneless, a satisfied smile on his face. Kuroo rolled his head over towards the window.
There, the young lady that had been messing with his mind all day was squatting in front of an adorable little girl while the girl’s father laughed heartily across from them. The little girl clapped in delight at the funny faces the waitress was making for her. Kuroo’s heart beat a little faster.
“You’re staring.” Kuroo jumped. Kenma’s intelligent eyes were boring into his soul. Suddenly feeling even guiltier than he already was, Kuroo looked away.
“Kenma, I swear I—“
“Relax. She’s cute. Flirt, stare, call yourself a table, I don’t care.”
Kuroo spluttered at the reminder of his royal screw up. Then, he was puzzled at how Kenma could be so nonchalant about anyone looking at his girlfriend like that, especially his own best friend. He knew for a fact that if Kenma truly didn’t like his ogling at his super cute girlfriend, he would have said something. Maybe they were one of those open relationship-type things? Sounded pretty odd for Kenma, but Kuroo supposed that people change in college. If he were in Kenma’s place, though, he doubted he’d be so willing to share (Y/N)’s affection. Not that he wanted it, of course. Nuh uh, no ma’am.
When (Y/N) gave them their check, they tried to politely decline taking her generous discount, but once she threatened to bring Grandmother from the kitchen, they ended up just tipping her a little extra to make up the difference and exiting the tea house.
~~
“HEY, HEY, HEY.” The ace spiker with the interesting hair crowed as he landed after a vicious spike that went untouched by the other team. Tokyo U’s other team members came together and gave a quick cheer before quickly resuming their positions.
“Damnnnn, how the hell is this entire team so fine?” Shusei moaned.
“Mm, especially that number 6. He’s so pretty,” Tamaki nibbled on her thumb nail.
“Ooh, the handsome guy from this morning is up!”
(Y/N) blushed as Kuroo rotated into the front row. Gone was the stuttering, flustered mess from earlier, and he was replaced by Nekoma High’s scheming captain, all fire in his eyes ,and supported by skill and years of experience. (Y/N) leaned against the rail. Something about that focused look in his eyes captivated her completely.
Kuroo was an excellent blocker. He was smart and had the technique to support it. But despite this, the other team had powerful spikers and was starting to close the gap just enough to make the crowd uneasy. The coach leaned over and whispered something to one of the managers, who scurried off through the door to a side gym.
(Y/N) had already been a little (a lot) thirsty since Kuroo stepped on the court, but Akaashi tossed the ball into the air, Kuroo jumped up, and hit a straight right by the blockers. Suddenly, the gym air felt too stale, her cardigan too hot.
“Ohhhh my goddddd.” (Y/N) shushed Shusei and Tamaki’s moaning.
“Jealous much?” Shusei sassed.
“Wha—? Just— Just stop being weirdos!” she said louder than expected.
Tamaki wiggled her eyebrows, “Oh, so you admit you were jealous?”
(Y/N)‘s face felt hot. Her retort was interrupted by squealing all around them.
“Kyaaaaaa!”
“Omg he’s here!”
“I want his babies!”
…yeah, people get weird when they’re thirsty.
Shusei cheered and clutched Tamaki’s shoulders, “Whooo! What are we screaming about?”
“Some things never change,” Tamaki mused.
“Bitch, what?”
They stopped their bickering when their friend chuckled. She had a fond look in her eyes, but they also held something else they couldn’t quite place. (Y/N) smiled softly. She turned to them, “The Grand King loves making a grand entrance.”
~~
(A/N): You know who’s coming soon, and I’m really excited about this next chapter! Thank you all for the support you’ve shown us so far in the series, and please look forward to the next few chapters as well! Chapter 6 is planned to be released in about two days or so. See you guys soon!

[OTBS - Headcanon] I'll Never Let You Go (Tsumugu Kido)
Genre : angst, hurt/comfort, fluff
SPOILER ALERT : Tsumugu Kido's "Season 3 : Three's a Crowd" and "Three is a Crowd His POV"
.
.
.
"Wait, Tsumugu! Please, don't go! Listen to me-" but you were cut by Tsumugu as he walked out from the house. You're having a quarrel after the new intern of Saison that also your childhood friend, Hinata Yayoi, was confessed his feeling to you, and it pissed him off. Tsumugu thought you will be happier with Hinata since Hinata is more rich and can makes your dream come true. It's just something that Tsumugu can't do and he lets himself to bow out in sake of your happiness.
"Just go with him and be happy." Tsumugu glared at you coldly.
"No! Wait, Tsumugu!" You begged but he keeps walk away and you can only stare at his back as the tears come down from your eyes. The house now is silent and it sadden you.
In the next morning, as you prepared to get ready for work, you packed Tsumugu's favorite strawberries. You hope you can give it to him and sort things out and ask him back to Jiyugaoka.
You can't think straight at work and too scared to ask him. During the lunch break, you searching for Tsumugu and he is nowhere at his desk. Then you go to the rooftop while bringing the pack of the strawberries. At the rooftop, you shocked that he isn't taking a nap. He just standing and hold on to the railing. When you just about to call his name, he said,
"I find a girl I like, go ta live with her an' fall in love with her more, an' make my once-in-a-lifetime proposal to her.. I'm such an idiot." Tsumugu sighed.
You stopped and taken aback by his words as your trembling hands slipped out the strawberries package and make a thud sound. He immediately turned his head and shocked looking at you. You just lowered your head and said on verge of tears, "I-I'm so sorry!"
Then you straight leaving the rooftop since you don't want him to see you in this such miserable state.
"I don't know that he feels that way. Is he going to break up with me?" You said as you looking at the ring that was given by Tsumugu when he was proposed to you.
That night, you can't help but only cried all night long. In the following days, you barely get enough energy to wake up because of the sleep deprived and also you not eating enough due to the stress. You only thinking about your beloved fiancé and it makes you feel sad. You supposed to have a lovely wedding with Tsumugu in the next several months, and now you can't picture anything of that plan anymore.
In the office you try to regain your composure because you don't want your personal matter affecting your work. You always try to fake a smile because you don't want the other guys worry about you even though you feel wrecked deep inside.
"Hey, ______! Do you want to join us for lunch?", Shusei asked.
"Hmm.. maybe I skip for today. Still have works that need to be done.."
".... are you okay? You look a bit pale. Have you eaten this morning?"
"Y-yeah.. Thanks for asking but I'm good, really." You smiled.
"Well, if you say so. Don't forget to take a break, will you?", Shusei pats your back.
"..of course." You ended the conversation.
Then, Ayame asked you and Hinata to looking for some articles in archive room. As both of you went to the archive room, you bumped into Tsumugu and about to say hello to him, but he averted his gaze from you as you expected. Then, you and Hinata arrived at the archive room.
"_______, are you fighting with Tsumugu?" Hinata asked.
".. no, we aren't.. Why do you asking?"
Suddenly, he embrace you from behind.
"W-what's wrong with you? Please, let me go!"
"You know ______... I like it when you smile but it's been a while since you are not and I know it is because of Tsumugu, right?", asked Hinata.
"I don't know what are you talking about. Let me go, Hinata. I'm only consider you as my brother. No more than that." You said softly and slowly he releases his embrace and feels disappointed.
Suddenly, Tsumugu walked in into the archive room and said "Sorry, I did knock."
"No, it's okay.. " Hinata responds him with a smile.
"I didn't mean to interrupt. Excuse me." He sighed.
You shocked and run after Tsumugu "W-wait, Tsumugu!" He just stops dead but doesn't turn his face. "L-listen.. we weren't doing anything, you know...", you said hopelessly.
"It has nothing to do with me." he replied.
In this situation you just looked like a girlfriend who get bored with her boyfriend and cheated on him.
"I'm in hurry, so if you wouldn't mind."
You look at his back as he walks away from you.
You went back to the office and slouched in the chair. He must be hating you right now. Feeling depressed, then you feel someone approaching your desk.
"Keiko, can I talk to you in my office for a sec?" Ayame asked.
"Okay, I'll be right there!" You responded him immediately while straighten up your posture.
As you stand up, the feeling of dizziness rush over to you. You closed your eyes and hold on to your desk for a while to regain your senses. But slowly you start to lose your consciousness. You can't support your body any longer and everything was pitched black.
A few hours later, you open your eyes and see an unfamiliar white ceiling and realized you are lie down on the hospital bed. You looking around and startled to find Tsumugu was asleep at side of your bed.
"Tsumugu..." You said gently.
Then he started to wake up.
"______....", he replied.
"What are you doing here?"
".. accompany my fiancé duh..", he answered lazily yet you feel kindness in his words.
"well, except ya don't want to be accompanied by.. I'll be going then."
"N-no! I mean.. You have been busy right? You have to go back to the office."
"Nah, I already finished my job."
"Oh, okay then."
And now both of you surrounded by silence and the awkwardness. You just lowered your head and aren't brave enough to look at him. Then you trying to break the silence.
"Uh, Tsumugu. I'm sorry.."
"For what?" He asked.
"For me disappointing you and also made you upset."
"...." He just stared at you and said ".. ya fool."
"Huh?" Then you lift your head and look directly at him.
"I know that ya don't have a feelin' to that puppy." He said.
"Uh.. well?" You don't know how to react at his answer.
"After yer brought to the hospital, he told me everything 'bout yer rejected his feeling. Sorry I don't listen to ya. It seems I couldn't help myself and get jealous over him." He added.
"W-why? You know that I only have feeling for you, right?"
"Well, he's more wealthy and ya don't hafta hold back 'bout yer dreams. I know he'll makes ya happy and not suffering like I did right now."
"Hey, that's not true. The only dream I want to realize is just build a family with you. I was so frightened when you said that you regret for proposing me." You hold his hand tightly.
"I'm sorry fer sayin' such things. Jealousy got over me and of course I didn't mean that. But from now on, I won't ever let ya go, especially fer that puppy." He smiled.
You chuckled and feel the happiness overflowing from your heart.
"I love ya, ______" He said bashfully.
"I love you too, Tsumugu." You replied happily and after that you two share a sweet kiss together.
*BONUS*
"Oh, it reminds me. What happened to the strawberries that I brought to you at the rooftop?" You asked Tsumugu.
"I cleaned that."
"You eat those strawberries?"
"Of course, stupid. Ya can't just threw those poor strawberries away duh.."
"I-I'm sorry!"
"It's okay. We can buy another next time." He smiled.

Birthday Surprise!-A Kaoru Kirishima fanfic(OTBS)(FLUFF)
Requested by @lin-ful
The coruscating sunrays greeted me in an upbeat manner this energetic Tuesday morning. I glanced up at the wall-clock, which served as a gentle reminder that it was 7 am. I was up early, so I had plenty of time to get dressed for my special day, my 25th Birthday. The other half of the bed lay empty; much like I was used to waking up to, since the past 2 days. All of our team had been immensely busy over the scores of new projects, articles and campaigns that had come over. Kaoru more so, since he was sent for most of the client meetings and interviews, thanks to his prowess with languages. I had barely seen his face, for he left very early for breakfast meetings, and returned when I was fast asleep. I did not wish to burden him anymore than he already was, but I missed him. It had been 11 months since we started dating and I truly enjoyed every moment of my time spent with him. I remembered having mentioned my birthday to him a few months ago, but under the sheer workload that we were, I doubted he would remember. Yet I couldn't avoid my hopes being unsparingly dashed when I opened my phone, to discover a birthday wish from everyone at Seasonelle, except Kaoru. Heck, even Growler had a message for me. Maybe he really forgot my birthday.
A small part of me felt miserable despite the special occasion. I stretched a little and began my routine. After a hot shower and a hairwash, I felt significantly better. I dressed up in my favourite black skirt, a new red peplum, stilettos and my go-to lip-stain. Just as I opened our shared closet, my eyes fell upon the velvet box in the front drawer- a pair of earrings and a matching pendant. Kaoru had gifted them to me sometime back, for no apparent reason. I ran my hand over the royal blue velvet as I contemplated wearing them. They did go well with this attire although I couldn't help feeling a bit wistful at the thought of Kaoru not remembering my Birthday. One last look in the mirror, and I looked ready to kick some ass at work.
In the office, everyone had their own little birthday cards for me, in their unique handwritings.
After I'd seen them, Chiaki walked over to me and said, "Hey _______, Kaoru apologised for not being able to be here because of the meeting. But he did leave these flowers and a card for you." I could see a mysterious glint in his eyes, and I knew something was up, but I accepted the gift nonetheless. So Kaoru does remember my birthday! That instantly made me feel a lot better. He also remembered that Stargazers were my favorite flowers. I opened the card, eager to read what he had to say.
"To my dear _______,
I am extremely sorry for not being there on your special day, but no matter where I am, my heart shall always be with you. I hope this new year in the chronology of your life brings you loads of happiness, so that I can see more of that beautiful smile. I hope you get every single thing that you ever wished for, and even more.
Happy Birthday my sweetheart.
Yours,
Kaoru."
I could feel a big grin creep up my face as I imagined him standing here and saying this to me.
"So what has Kaoru written that got Pommy grinning like an idiot?" Minato asked, in his loud, obnoxious voice.
"I think it must be something very very special" Shusei added.
What were they trying to say? Oh crap, this could be bad. "N-nothing different. It's just that he is otherwise so quiet, but he sure writes a mean birthday greeting." How could I not smile while thinking of my boyfriend? I silently made a wish to be able to see some of him today, if not much.
The day wore on, the others came and went, but there was no sign of Kaoru. Jeez, he atleast could have called up once. I missed his voice and I so badly wanted to spend the day with him.
Soon, it was time to leave, and I got up to get a can of soda from the vending machine like I always did. Chiaki walked along with me and waited as I put in the money.
"Do you miss Kaoru, _____?"
"Yes, I really do." I said, not thinking at all. Only when I saw Chiaki raise his brow, did I realise what I had said. "I mean, I was planning to take you all out for dinner, and he's gonna miss it, so I felt a bit bad." I elaborated. The more flustered I got, the wider Chiaki smiled. Just what was with this guy today?
"I bet he misses you too"
I looked up at him. What was he trying to insinuate? Did he suspect something between me and Kaoru? I fumbled, searching for a fitting reply, "It isn't like Kaoru to miss anybody. That too me of all people."
"You never know", he said, with a meaningful look and left. What was that just now? Collecting my can, I walked back to my section, thinking deeply, failing to notice that the office was dark and deserted. When did everyone leave? A tiny flicker of light on Kaoru's desk made me shiver slightly. What? I went closer to find a chocolate cake with an illuminated candle.
"What's all this now?", I asked, more to myself.
At that very instant, I felt a pair of large hands being placed on my shoulders. "Happy Birthday baby" his gentle, husky voice whispered in my ear. Kaoru! I turned around to look at him, in his tall, suave and handsome glory, donning my favourite black shirt of his, with a smile on his face so forbearing, I felt my heart flutter. So he wanted to surprise me which is why he stayed mum.
"Where are the others?" I whispered, finding it very difficult to take my eyes off him. Even in that muted light, his sharp features stood out.
"You look gorgeous. Those earrings do go very well with your face. I knew I'd made the right choice." His smile deepened and I could feel my cheeks tinting under his ardent gaze. "Would you like to cut the cake now? Unless you wish to taste some melted candle-wax too.", he said. That's when all the lights came back and so did all of the others from under their desks.
"Thank goodness Kaoru, I thought I might get stuck under this tiny desk" Minato said.
"_______, blow the candle.", said Tsumugu. And so I did, while everyone chanted the birthday song. With Kaoru, this felt so much better. I fed cake to everyone in the room, including Growler (and I swear I could see him blushing). And then there was Minato who smeared a huge dollop of cream on my nose and cheeks. To top it all, Kaoru stuck a chocolate chip on my nose which frankly made me look like a raccoon.
"Look, a real pommy!" Shusei said, and the others burst into laughter.
"Guys are you freaking serious?! You too Kaoru?"
"You look adorable" he said, but I could see his shoulders vibrate with controlled laughter. Finally, after I'd washed up and reapplied my makeup, Akiyoshi made me sit in a chair and insisted that I make a wish. This morning, I had wished to see Kaoru, and it came true. Now the only thing I could wish for was for our love to last forever. When I opened my eyes, my heart almost stopped at the scene before me- Kaoru, down on one knee, for once at eye-level with me, with a velvet box in his hand, displaying a dazzling ring.
"OH MY GOD!" I almost shrieked. He was doing this right in front of everybody! That means they all already knew! So that is why everyone has been so bubbly since the morning!
"______, ever since you walked into Seasonelle with your klutzy head all those months back; you've caught my attention. You carved your way into my head and heart. My time spent with you has never been dull. With each passing day, my adoration for you grew, and now, I can no longer imagine a life without you being all up in my business. I love you _____. Be mine. Marry me." I was dumbstruck and speechless. "Please?" he added, and I could see he was holding his breath. When I finally found my voice, it was like a squeaking mouse. "Yes. Yes yes yes! Oh shit!" Grinning, he lifted the ring from its encasement and slid it onto my finger and I swear, I had never seen him beaming that way. We stood up and I pulled him for a kiss. I just couldn't hold back.
"GET A ROOM!" The others chorused.
"Since when have you guys known this?" Now I was damn curious.
"Kaoru called a meeting this morning and told us everything. I see you two live together. Nice work hiding it. I didn't have a clue." Akiyoshi said and Chiaki smirked. Of course Chiaki suspected this. Now that I think if it, he's always given us an idea. Kaoru planted a soft kiss on my forehead and Minato rolled his eyes, cursing under his breath.
"Why, she's my fiancé, she deserves to be shown off a bit now" Kaoru said.
Not being able to hold back at all, I pulled him into a tight hug. He looked blissed. Oh how we had grown- from couldn't care less strangers, to coworkers, to step-siblings, to lovers. I ran my fingers through his hair, knowing he was content. He had been through a lot, he deserved to be happy, and I swore to god I'd make him the happiest man on this planet. I had never known solace better than being wrapped up in his strong arms, where I'd forever be, starting this moment.

Can you do one where mc from otbs gets her memories back please
Based on Minato’s POV
She hesitated when I opened the door for her to step in and Miki was holding her hand, urging her to come in too.
“Mummy, this is our house.” Miki exclaimed.
I bet that she must be feeling insecure. She met with a car accident and lost her memories, even our marriage and our 6 years old girl. It must be hard for her to deal with.
“Come on in, it may help you remember something.” I smiled nervously.
“That’s right! There is nothing to worry.” Shusei smiled, who accompany us.
She finally took a deep breath and step in. Miki dragged her around the house and finally to our bedroom. She stood in front of our wedding photo which is hanging in the room and keep staring at it. I watched her nervously. Please tell me that you remember everything after looking how happy and lovely we are. On the bedside table is our family photo with Miki, smiling happily like a lovely family. However, there is no response to my wish.
“You have a rest first. I will go prepare dinner.” I smile wryly at her. “I will call you when it ready. Miki, do you want to give me a helping hand?” I continued, leading Miki out of the room.
Soon dinner is ready and everyone seated at the dining table. “This is all your favourite food.” I smile and place some on her bowl.
“I help to cook this.” Miki said proudly.
“Minato used to burn the whole kitchen down. He had learned cooking for you. You are so love by him.” Shusei teased.
“Shut up!” I blushed at his comment before meeting my eyes. Does she feel it? But all she did was just smile and look away panicking. It’s hurt a lot to see that.
We told her a lot of other past memories which she don’t remember any. With each moment went past, I can feel my heart sink further. I don’t want her to forget me. I need her. I want to hold her in my arms. Soon it night time, Shusei left and Miki wanted to sleep together with her.
“Miki, Mummy is tired. I will accompany you tonight.” I smile sweetly at her but I can see that Miki looks sad. She went to her room dragging her feet.
“I will be sleeping in Miki’s room for the time being.” I replied softly and turn to follow Miki.
“Minato!” She called my name and I paused. Please tell me that she don’t want me to go.
“Thank you!” She smiled wryly.
“There is no need to thank me. We are husband and wife.” I replied sadly, lifting my hand up toward her cheek and she immediately step backward. “Sorry! Goodnight.” I muttered with heavy heart and left.
“Daddy, is mummy going to forget us forever? Does she not love me anymore?” She whispered softly, sadly while hugging me tightly in her room. I can feel that she was trying to hold back her tears.
“Of course not! Just that mummy is sick now. Mummy will remember us. She sure will.” I replied cheerfully, but I can feel my heart breaking into pieces. What is going to happen if she can’t remember us forever? I don’t want to imagine that. I am trying hard to hold back my tears in front of Miki as I tried to comfort her.
The next day, Miki was in school while I took leave to accompany her.
“I can handle by myself alright.” She tried to assure me.
“No way I am leaving you alone here.” I replied. “Do you want to fetch Miki together with me?” I asked nervously and she nodded her head. I hope it will help her remember something.
By the time we reached the school, Miki is already waiting for us outside. She got excited when she spotted us and dashed out to the road running toward us. A car is horning loudly and my blood run cold. Just then, ______ dashed over to her without thinking.
“Miki, _______!” I shouted in panicked and run toward them, pushing us to the side of the road as fast as I can.
“Sorry, daddy!” Miki was crying hard.
“Don’t you ever run over like that!” I scolded her while hugging her.
“______, it is alright now.” I turned to her, who had turned pale. She is shaking in fear
She looks at me, tears start flowing down and I got even more panicked. “You are not hurt are you?” I asked while pulling her toward me.
“Minato, I remember. I remember everything. Your pommy is back.” She sobbed. “I recalled how I got hit by the car when I heard the horning sound just now. I was buying Miki favourite cake nearby when a car lost control and hit me. The rest of my memories started to flow back slowly.”
“Thanks goodness! I really don’t know what I can do, if you still can’t remember. You really got me worry.” I sobbed, hugging her even tightly.
“Mummy?” Miki sobbed.
“Yes, mummy is back. Sorry for making you upset.” She cried, breaking away from me. She hugged Miki tightly and kisses her forehead, showing the love as much as she can.
I wrapped my arms around them, smiling and crying at the same time.
“Let’s go home together. Nothing is going to break us a part again.” I exclaimed happily. I helped them up on their feet and carry Miki in my arm. I then wrapped my other hand around her shoulder tightly, as if I am not going to let her go. No words can describe how I feel now. I am just grad that she is finally back.

Fanfic - The gamer and the journalist
Yes, I’m productive lately. I had this idea a while back and it wanted to be written.
Hotsuma is a passionate gamer who has moved to the USA as a kid and Shuusei studies journalism and stayed in Japan. And now they can meet after twelve long years on a gaming convention.
The Gamer and the Journalist
Shuusei looked at his cell phone and typed something into a chat window.  Perhaps he would get an answer some time in the near future. Preferably before he fell asleep.
 -God, this meeting is so boring. Are you online or still at university? - He looked at the phone’s clock: half past nine in the morning, so it was half past four in the afternoon the previous day where his chat partner lived. And thank god the little lamp in the top left corner of his phone announced an answer after a few minutes.
 -Just booted my PC. Had to stay longer because of a test tomorrow {>-<}-
 Shuusei inwardly shook his head. He could almost see how his chat partner disliked spending more time than necessary at his university than necessary.
 -Do you feel prepared?-
 -*shrugs* It will be enough to pass. What’s the meeting about?-
 Shuusei decided to ignore the other’s lack of interest in his studies. They had discussed it often enough and he didn’t want another discussion right about this topic right now. They had argued about it much too often and he would not provoke another one.
 -The upcoming issue of our student’s newspaper. They think about sending someone to the big game convention next weekend and write about it.-
 -Cool! Will you go?-
 -Me? Hotsuma, you are aware that I only know the difference between a PC and a console because I work with a PC but never on a console. I belong to a game convention as much as a plane to a boat exhibition.-
 “Usui!”
 “What?” He looked up just as his phone announced the other’s reply as he heard his name.
 The young woman who led the university’s newspaper’s redaction, Suzuki Hiromi by name, wore a stern expression. “Stop playing on your phone and pay attention. You will go to the con as well and write an article as someone who doesn’t know much about gaming.”
 “What?” Shusei repeated. Had he heard it correctly?
“You brag about being a non gamer. So you will go there on Saturday and write about your experience. Here’s your ticket.” She handed him a piece of paper which was indeed a press-ticket for the con.
 Shuusei sighed. “Really?” He had just told Hotsuma why he didn’t mean to attend and now he had a ticket and a job to do. Great. He sighed.
 “Do you have important plans on Saturday? Like grandma’s 90th birthday? A wedding? Funeral?”
 Shuusei shook his head.
 “So it’s settled. You will have a look around and write about it. It would be much more interesting than a gamer’s report about it.”
 “I’ll come with you, so you will not get lost in those many people,” another girl said. She was called Wakabayashi and everyone knew she loved games.
 Shuusei sighed. So he didn’t have another choice but to go and write an article about an event he didn’t care about. “Okay… I guess I don’t have a choice, have I?”
 Now he had to spend the rest of the meeting paying attention. Wakabayashi told him what he should pay attention to like cosplayers or the upcoming finals of an international championship of a famous game. Shuusei only knew the name because Hotsuma played it and was very good at it and also played in international competitions. If he would be there?
 When he looked at his phone an hour later, he froze:
 -I thought we could meet? I’ll play there!-
 That was… big news. They had been childhood friends but Hotsuma had moved to Los Angeles twelve years ago. At least they had the internet to stay in contact for which Shuusei was very thankful. And if he could meet his old friend again it would be worth spending a whole day at a place which didn’t interest him at all and was too full of people. They were still very close with each other and meeting again after so many years would be fantastic.
 -I’m going to work there. Do you have time for an interview with a complete noob who is supposed to write about it from his view?”
 Then he put his phone back into his pocket. He didn’t expect a quick answer. Hotsuma was too dedicated to his games, so he would not have patiently waited for him to find the time to reply. But he supposed getting an interview with one of the best Warcraft players in the world who above that preferred to avoid publicity would make sure they could meet and he would totally surprise Suzuki. He liked that idea.
 ~~~
 “Ahh Shuusei! I’m so looking forward to see you for real on Saturday!”
 Shuusei grinned into his webcam. It was Wednesday and Hotsuma would have to depart for Japan tomorrow. “Have you already packed your things?” he asked. He had just returned from university and Hotsuma had had the whole evening to pack his things. Now it was half past eleven at night over there
 “Naah, not yet. But I’ve started.”
 Shuusei sighed deeply. “Then finish it. I won’t start watching the next episode unless you have finished packing.”
 “Really? I’ve waited sooo long for you to come home!”
 “You could have used that time to get everything ready.” Shuusei shook his head.
 “I have everything ready. I just need to click on play.” Hotsuma protested. “I have to leave after lunch so I have enough time to pack the rest tomorrow.”
 “And I know you well enough that you will oversleep and then forget half your things.” Shuusei said while he opened the streaming service where the newest episode of Game of Thrones was already online so that they could watch it together. Shortly after the start of the first season Hotsuma had come to him and proposed to watch it together since Shuusei had once told him he had read the books. And now it had become a nice ritual between them to spend one evening the week together to watch something. Shuusei liked it. He was no big fan of mainstream TV series but he liked this one and it was something that could get Hotsuma away from his games so that they had a bit more time together. Time which they both seemed to value very much.
He had now found the newest episode but instead to telling Hotsuma he took a book from his desk and opened it.
 “Do you have underwear?” he asked without looking up from his book. “Socks? Trousers? T-Shirts? Your gaming outfit? Sleepwear?”
 “You sound like my mom!” Hotsuma protested.
 “You would have forgotten you sleepwear then.” Shuusei stated and when he looked at his monitor he found Hotsuma packing a bit more into his suitcase.
 “Toothbrush?” he asked and Hotsuma got said article together with toothpaste and his hairbrush. “Anything else for your daily hygiene?”
 “In here.” Hotsuma grumbled and held a smaller bag up.
 “Good. Shoes?”
 “Already packed.”
 And so it went on until Shuusei was satisfied and Hotsuma really had anything he needed. They were disturbed once by one of Hotsuma’s flatmates who wanted to know if it was okay for him to still take a bath at this hour but Hotsuma just nodded and sent him away. He would stay awake for more than an hour. By then the bathroom would be free again. Shuusei was already used to Hotsuma’s two flatmates coming in once in a while and wanting something from him.
 And then they could finally start to watch the next episode so Shuusei put his book away and turned his full attention to his old laptop. They clicked the play button at the same time and both had a small window of their video chat in the top corner of the monitor so that they could still watch each other and comfortably talk about what they saw.
Only once Hotsuma had to interrupt the episode to open another messenger Shuusei didn’t know to tell one of his gaming buddies he didn’t have time to play with them today because of quality time with his oldest friend. And somehow this made Shuusei feel warm. That he really was important enough to Hotsuma that he didn’t rush over to his games because someone wanted to play with him.
 ~~~
 The moment Shuusei saw the queue in front of the halls he wanted to turn around and go home again. But of course Wakabayashi didn’t let him and he had to remind himself that he would meet Hotsuma after the tournament.
Despite their press tickets it took them almost an hour to get into the large halls. Almost every gaming company had an own stand where people could play the demo of an upcoming game. Besides that there was a cosplay area and of course the area where the tournaments would be held.
 Shuusei first wanted to take a look at the cosplayers. He took notes and asked some a few questions about their hobby. They didn’t have an allowance to take pictures here though so when Shuusei’s curiosity – if you could call it like this – was satisfied they left for the main part of the event and took a look at different game developers. Everywhere were many people who wanted to have a look at the new games and try them out. At one company Wakabayashi said she desperately wanted to try a game so he was supposed to look around by himself for a while.
 “Okay. But remember I have an interview when the Warcraft tournament ends.” He reminded the girl.
 “Oh right. But I want to watch it as well so we can meet there. You still haven’t told me with whom.”
 Shuusei winked at her and kept quiet about it. “I think you have heard his name,” was all he said.
 Then he went off. He didn’t want to wait with her until it was her turn to play the game. So he strolled through the halls and looked at what the smaller companies had to offer. At a barely crowded stand he even tried a game which looked quite interesting. It was a kind of Adventure puzzle game. He didn’t despise it but since he didn’t want to invest into a console and his laptop was quite old he doubted he would ever be able to purchase the game. He talked to the people at the stand and asked them questions and they quickly noticed he barely knew anything. But they were friendly and explained him everything to detail. When he looked on his watch afterwards he noticed time has rushed by and he left to look for the tournament place. And on the way he noticed a well-known figure: Asian features, blond hair, upright posture, clad in a black Warcraft shirt, black jeans, sunglasses and – his trademark, Shuusei never understood the purpose of that – a long, black, floating coat with an applied flame and the Japanese character for flame which identified him as the famous gamer “Firegod”. A smile crept onto Shuusei’s face and he cleft a way through the crowd to that person.
 “Hey.” He said when he fell in step next to that person, knowing he wouldn’t like him to call him by his real name here.
 “Shuusei!” The young man looked at him at first surprised then overjoyed and hugged him. “God, it’s so good to see you again!”
 Shuusei was a bit overwhelmed but then he returned the hug. It had been so long that they had met in person.
 “How are you? Nervous?” Shuusei asked.
 “A bit. But I’ll rock it.”
 Shuusei laughed. “Of course you will. You’re on your way there?”
 “Yup. Care to join me?”
 Shuusei nodded and they continued their way.
 “And how are you?” Hotsuma asked.
 “Overwhelmed. Too loud, too many impressions and way too many people. I guess I’ll leave as soon as I have the interview done with you and cut the world off as soon as I’m home.”
 Hotsuma nodded. He knew Shuusei well enough and these events were nothing for his friend. “As long as you don’t forget the interview.”
 “Never.” Shuusei chuckled. “That’s the only thing I’m looking forward to today.”
 Hotsuma laughed. “I’m curious what kinds of questions you have prepared.”
 “Don’t expect too much. You know how much of a noob I am.”
 “But at least you know the meaning of the word ‘noob’.”
 “Thanks to you.”
 Hotsuma grinned. But then they reached the tournament area. “So. I have to leave you here… Or wait… I think I can provide you a seat.”
 Shuusei hesitated shortly. “I wanted to meet with Wakabayashi-san here… I guess you can’t wait.”
 Hotsuma shook his head. “But… look down there… the first row which is empty? These are the seats I mean. I’ll reserve you two seats there.”
 “Usui!”
 Shuusei turned around and Shuusei smiled. “I guess you can take us down by yourself. This is Wakabayashi-san. She’s also in the newspaper club with me.”
 Hotsuma nodded at the young woman who seemed shocked. “Y-yo-yo-you’re Firegod!” she stuttered.
 “He’s an old friend of mine and the one we’re going to interview after the tournament.” Shuusei introduced his friend without mentioning his real name.
 “What? Your… friend?”
 “We played together in the mud as kids.” Hotsuma explained and bumped Shuusei’s shoulder in a playful way.
 “Come now, I don’t have much time left or the tournament will be delayed or I’m disqualified for not showing up and I could need a bit of price money if I don’t wanna starve.” Hotsuma said and with a flattering coat he led the two down to the first row seats and after shortly talking to one of the officials Shuusei and Wakabayashi could sit down at two seats at the side of the row.
 “You… I can’t believe you know HIM! I am a big fan!” Wakabayashi whispered excitedly. “Why didn’t you ever tell anyone you know him? You know he’s famous!”
 “Yes, but for me he is my closest childhood friend and that’s what I’m seeing in him. I don’t care about games so yes, I know what he’s doing and everything I know about video games is the stuff he has told me, but that’s not important to me. I don’t care much about ‘Firegod’ but about the person behind this name. And we haven’t met in more than a decade,” Shuusei explained and shrugged. Really he didn’t have to tell everyone, that one of his closest friends happened to be a bit famous.
 “Wow… So that’s how you got the interview in the first place. He’s not known to giving many.”
 Shuusei nodded. He knew Hotsuma was very active at gaming but there wasn’t much known about him.
 They had to wait a while and then the tournament started. When Shuusei watched the people it seemed to be an exciting game. He didn’t understand enough of games like this to understand the thrill of it. But he watched it until the end no matter how bored he felt. Sometimes he noticed his eyes wandering off to Hotsuma. His friend was a bit more interesting to watch. He was so focused on his game. He barely knew him being able to sit down quietly. Whenever they had skyped Hotsuma always needed something to occupy his hands with. But now he was sitting totally still while he played his game and was 100% focused, and by watching him he knew why Hotsuma was so invested in his hobby.
 The tournament dragged out. It was quite late when it ended and Shuusei was glad when he could get up again and walk a few steps. Hotsuma had made it to the second place which also would provide him a nice price money so he wouldn’t have to starve in the near future.
 “You didn’t fall asleep.” Wakabayashi teased him. She was very excited.
 “But I was close.” Shuusei yawned and they went to the place Hotsuma had left them and where they wanted to meet him again. They had to wait another ten minutes until he showed up.
 “So I’m done. Let’s grab something to eat and then I’m ready to answer your questions.” He said when they had both congratulated him.
 And so it happened. Hotsuma had bought a very big portion of fries and some other fast food things with which he led the two to a more quiet room which had been used for a workshop in the morning and was now empty.
“Feel free to take some fries.” Hotsuma offered and shoved two bottles of water over to them.
 “Thank you!” Wakabayashi said and took her bottle.
 Shuusei was not interested in eating much but he as well was thirsty.
 Hotsuma took off his sunglasses and relaxed after he had shoved a burger into his mouth in record time.
 “So, I guess I’m ready now for your questions.” He grinned.
 “There’s a sesame seed between your teeth.” Shuusei winked and watched while Hotsuma tried to get it away. Then he started the voice recorder of his phone and started the interview. He tried to keep a bit of distance so that it was kept professional but a few childhood memories slipped in nevertheless. And Wakabayashi also had a few questions she wanted to ask her idol.
Shuusei couldn’t deny that this was really the best part of today. No matter how advanced today’s communication devices got, nothing could replace meeting face to face and at one point Wakabayashi was completely out of the window for them. She just didn’t have a place in the conversation of two old friends.
 It took about two hours until a man looked inside the room. “The con is closing soon. And you’re supposed to have dinner with the other gamers, Firegod.”
 Hotsuma nodded. So the interview had to end. Shuusei had a final question but then they had to leave.
 “How long are you still in Japan?” Shuusei asked when the three of them got up.
 “Until Wednesday. Are you free on Tuesday?”
 Shuusei smiled. So Hotsuma had understood why he had asked and he nodded. “I am always free for you. We can meet at the usual place at 11 o’clock?” he asked and Hotsuma grinned.
 “I’d love to.”
 He stretched out his hand to Wakabayashi and then he hugged Shuusei again who this time had expected it and returned it instantly. And when they distanced each other again he could feel Hotsumas lips brushing against his very softly. Shuusei smiled at him when he let go of him.
 “See you on Tuesday.” He said and left the room after Hotsuma.
 “Has… have I seen it wrongly or has he really kissed you?” Wakabayashi asked in shock on their way out.
 Shuusei looked at her and shrugged with a small sheepish smile on his lips. “Perhaps?” He had enjoyed that fleeting kiss very much but he didn’t expect anything to drastically change between him and Hotsuma. He lived in Tokyo after all and his friend in Los Angeles. Something serious between them would be difficult to manage no matter how much he might like Hotsuma.
 ~~~
 On Tuesday Shuusei had to attend to the usual meeting of the student’s newspaper and delivered his article to Suzuki who looked over it.
 “How did you manage to get this interview? I hope you didn’t spend any money on it. I can’t give it back!” she asked.
 “He’s a good friend of mine.” Shuusei shrugged. “And he was happy to grant it to me so there was no money involved.”
 “Wow. I knew it would be good to send you there. This issue will sell great!” Suzuki grinned.
But after the meeting ended Shuusei left. He had a course but he had decided to skip it. He wanted to have as much time as possible with Hotsuma.
 When he reached their old meeting point, a tree in a near park, he found Hotsuma already standing there. Shuusei had never moved too far away from their old neighbourhood. He smiled and went over to him. “Hey.” He greeted him.
 “Shuusei!” Hotsuma was obviously very happy to see him and greeted him again with a warm hug. “How was your meeting?”
 “Quite okay. Suzuki-san was surprised about the interview.” Shuusei smiled.
 “You didn’t tell her?”
 Shuusei shook his head. “No. I wanted to surprise her that even I can get an interview with someone from the gaming scene.”
 Hotsuma laughed. “I’d have loved to see her face.”
 “It was quite a sight.” Shuusei smiled.
 “I can imaging. Nee Shuusei?”
 “Hn?”
 “Does the crêpe stand still exist where we used to go as kids? I’d love to have a good old Japanese crêpe with mango and chocolate! I sometimes really miss the good Japanese sweets!”
 Shuusei chuckled.
 “No our old stand doesn’t exist anymore but I know another one which makes delicious crêpes. Let’s go there.”
 “Okay.” Hotsuma agreed and took Shuusei’s elbow.
 A bit surprised about Hotsumas proximity Shuusei looked at him.
 “Sorry.” Hotsuma let go of his arm again. “It’s just… I’m so happy to spend some time with you again. Y’know… I have friends over there and all but… you are still my best friend and I… I’m so glad to be able to see you in person again.”
 Shuusei smiled and now it was him who took Hotsuma’s arm. Should the people think what they wanted. “I’m also happy to see you again” he agreed. Shortly he thought back to Saturday and the short kiss, but he didn’t want to think too much of it. He just wanted to be close to his friend.
 When they arrived at the crêpe stand he had to let go of Hotsuma’s arm again. They both got a different crêpe. While Hotsuma indeed got his mango-chocolate filled one, Shuusei ordered one with strawberries and cherries.
“Is there anything else you want to do? Need a new game? Want to see anything?” Shuusei asked after he stole a bite from Hotsuma’s crêpe.
“No. I have everything. And we had a big sightseeing tour yesterday.” Hotsuma said and accepted Shuusei’s offer of trying from his crêpe as well.
“Then let’s go home and watch the new episode?” Shuusei proposed. He didn’t have another idea what he could do with Hotsuma.
 “That sounds like a great plan!” Hotsuma grinned. “Do you have any snacks?”
 Shuusei didn’t so they stopped at a supermarket to buy a few things before they returned to the dorms where Shuusei lived.
 “How are your parents by the way?” Hotsuma asked when they entered the buildng.
 “As always, very stuck up. But when we last phoned they were fine. And yours? Have you heard of them lately?”
 Hotsuma shook his head. “Nothing. But I guess that means they’re fine. They just drop a note when they want money. I stopped caring.”
 Shuusei sighed and put a hand on Hotsuma’s shoulder. His relationship with his parents had always been difficult and since he started earning money with playing video games they had stopped caring about him. “I’m here for you, you know?” he said.
 “I know. And I am here for you.” Shuusei smiled and pulled his hand back to get his keys out of his pocket to let them into his small apartment.
 “Cozy.” Hotsuma stated when he looked at the room for the first time. He usually didn’t see too much of it through the webcam. It was one room with tatami mats at the floor so they of course pulled their shoes off. At one wall was a small kitchen and at the window was a desk with Shuusei’s laptop and some books for his studies. On the windowsill stood a few plants. One wall was empty but Hotsuma supposed behind it was the wardrobe. A small door indicated that the apartment even had an own bathroom. It wasn’t big at all but tidy.
 “I guess an apartment for one person alone is not very cheap.” He mused and Shuusei nodded.
 “Yup. But I can get by.” Shuusei smiled and started to boil some water. “Tea?” he asked.
 Hotsuma nodded and took a look at Shuusei’s laptop. “Wow how old is it? And how does it still work?” he asked.
 Shuusei chuckled. “It’s good enough for me. Don’t forget I don’t play games so I don’t need a high end PC. As long as it can still run a video stream and a video chat with you at the same time I don’t need a new one.”
 Hotsuma chuckled. “I guess I would curse this thing if I had to work with it for only one day.”
 “You don’t have to. I have to deal with it.” Shuusei smiled and looked at his friend mockingly.
 “I know. Just wanted to say… As long as you are happy with it.”
 “I am.” Shuusei boxed Hotsuma into the stomach which led to them playfully fighting each other like they used to do often when they were still kids. Only the water kettle separated them and grinning Shuusei gave up in favour of preparing their tea.
 “You can already plug the laptop in and put it there into the corner.” He said and motioned to the corner next to the writing desk.
While Hotsuma did as he was told Shuusei went to the wardrobe and pulled his futon out to spread it behind his friend so that they could watch their episode comfortably.
 “Ah this is the view I usually have when we watch GoT.” Hotsuma said when he turned around.
 “Exactly,” Shuusei said and threw their snacks over to his friend. “Shall we order some real food later?” he asked. “I don’t want to spend much time cooking.”
 “Aw But I wanted to eat something made by you…” Hotsuma pouted. And Shuusei could hear Hotsuma typing something on the keyboard and looked over sceptically. He had locked his laptop with a password but…
 “Oh god, you really use THIS as your password?” Hotsuma asked when he managed to unlock the computer at the third try. “You’re too obvious, Shuusei!”
 “Why? You’re the only one who knows that this place is important to me.” Shuusei replied. His password was the place he and Hotsuma had spent much time as kids. “And my passwords in the internet are much more secure.”
 “I hope so. Or I have to give you a lesson in password security.”
 “I know the basic rules for creating good passwords thank you.” Shuusei replied. “So back to the food topic: I have prepared a dessert for you. Can you live with this?” Shuusei said and when two cups of tea were done Shuusei put them and the teapot on a tablet and carried it over to the futon.
“Well... then I guess I can.” Hotsuma sighed. “We can order something to eat later. But first I wanna watch this episode!!” he sounded almost like an impatient child. Shuusei snipped his fingers against Hotsuma’s forehead and sat down next to him so they could find a comfortable position to watch the episode.
In the end they lay next to each other on their stomachs and looked at the monitor of the laptop. The futon was not very broad so their shoulders touched. Shuusei enjoyed being so close to his friend even more when Hotsuma took his hand. He shortly looked at him but soon turned his attention back to the monitor and squeezed the hand he was holding. It was really sad that Hotsuma had to return to America tomorrow. It was so nice to have him back here in person.
 They watched the episode and shared their impressions just as they always did and slowly their snacks vanished into their stomachs. Okay Hotsuma ate more than Shuusei but that was okay. Shuusei was no big fan of sweets after all.
 When the episode ended Hotsuma let go of Shuusei’s hand and stretched. Lying so long on the stomach was not the most comfortable position. “Ahh that was interesting. I wanna know what happens next!!” he said.
 “You want me to tell you?” Shuusei asked grinning and turned around to stretch as well. He needed to change the position, but he didn’t want to get up and give this closeness up.
 “Nope. Keep it for yourself. In the end they change it as they so often do and then we’re both disappointed.”
 Shuusei chuckled and turned to his side. “As you wish but the way of storytelling doesn’t indicate they change that detail.” He shrugged and looked over to Hotsuma and notciced he was watched.
 “Am I this interesting?” he asked amusedly.
 “Yup.” Hotsuma said and smiled.
 In the end none of them knew who had started the kiss. One was probably as guilty as the other. Shuusei had closed his eyes and slowly tested how it felt to have Hotsuma’s lips moving against his while he returned the kiss. And he couldn’t deny he liked it.
 “Wow!” he stated when they separated after a while.
 He noticed how Hotsuma brushed his fingers through his hair. “Damn. I didn’t intent to go this far…” he said. “I didn’t even want that on Saturday
 Shuusei smiled and took Hotsuma’s hand. “It didn’t even surprise me… on Saturday I mean. And I liked it.”
 Hotsuma struggled for words. “But… what now? I have to leave tomorrow. Shuusei… I didn’t want you to know what I feel for you…”
 “But now I do.” Shuusei replied. “I don’t like he thought of ignoring what happened and go on like before.” That had been possible until ten minutes ago. But now… Hotsuma had just admitted that he had feelings for him and if Shuusei was honest he didn’t mind it at all.
 “But… I don’t know when we can meet again…” Hotsuma looked at Shuusei and seemed a bit despaired.
 “We will find a way.” Shuusei said and squeezed Hotsuma’s hand which he still held. “I will think of something. Perhaps an exchange year would be good if I really want to make use of my journalist’s degree…”
 “Are… you sure? Shuusei… I don’t want to urge you into something you don’t want to! I can deal with my feelings!”
 Shuusei sighed and moved over so he could put an arm around Hotsuma – for which he had to let go of his hand. “Hotsuma… If I didn’t want to be with you in this way, I’d make that clear. I know our friendship is strong enough to survive. But I want to be at your side.”
 Hotsuma stayed quiet for a few seconds before he put his arms around Shuusei and pulled him close to him. “I love you,” He said quietly. “I don’t know how long.”
 Shuusei smiled and moved his hand over Hotsuma’s back. They would find a way to spend more time together. He didn’t know exactly how, but there would be a way. “I love you, too,” he admitted and closed his eyes to feel more of Hotsuma’s warmth.
One Last Taste
Fandom: Our Two Bedroom Story (Love 365)
Pairing: Shusei x Reader
“Cheer up! There’s plenty to celebrate tonight!” Akiyoshi shouted over the music and lively conversations.
You watched as Shusei shrugged him off just to toss back the last of his drink and motion for another one.
”Just because she’s here doesn't mean you gotta drink yourself into a coma,” Kaoru said.
“I’m not drinking just because of her,” Shusei retorted.
You shifted uncomfortably on your chair just a few seats down and avoided looking in their direction.
Did they know you could hear, or was it pure accident? As if you didn’t feel bad enough already! You weren't blind to the strife that Shusei had been going through since you two split, but you couldn’t focus on him. You needed to focus on yourself.
 "Yeah right,” you muttered, tapping your nails against the bar. You couldn’t enjoy anything lately. Shusei's sad face loomed everywhere. God, where was your drink?
"Sorry about that ma'am. Here you go. That’ll be six dollars.”
As you went to slide your card to the man, another hand slapped a ten down beside you. "Such a beautiful lady should never pay for her own drinks.”
You looked up to find Chiaki staring you down with a predatory smile. You stammered out a thank you as you tried to figure out why he was buying you a drink.
"No problem, cutie. You should come join us. We need some good company. What do you say?” Chiaki invited.
As he spoke, he got closer to your face until you could feel the heat from his breath across your cheek. It was tempting. You and Shusei had broken up over a month ago and you hadn’t paid attention to any advances from men since then. Maybe now was the perfect time to get back in the saddle.
"Let me go powder my nose and I’ll join you,” you replied.
He grinned and said, “Sounds great. Allow me to hold your drink?”
You smiled, "Sure, thank you.”
As he waltzed off with a satisfied smirk, you watched him and slowly realized you might have just made a mistake. Of course he was sitting with Minato! Would that be considered treason, to sit with your ex-boyfriend’s ex-best friend?
You shook your head at your confused thoughts and rushed off towards the back bathrooms. You didn’t really have to pee or anything, just wanted to check your make up and hair and psyche yourself up.
Only halfway down the hall, you were suddenly grabbed and shoved into a dark room. Letting out a small scream, you tried to beat your assailant but they blocked your attacks easily, shoving you against the wall face first.
You felt the erection against your ass at the same time as you felt his hot breath tickling your neck. "P-Please, don’t- don’t do this!” you begged, tears creeping into your eyes.
“Isn’t this always what you wanted? To be roughed up, taken forcefully?”
A relieved sob escaped your lips as tears ran down your cheeks. "Damnit, Shusei, you scared me,” you whispered, “Let me go.”
His response was a harsh bite on your neck that made you cry out in agony, clawing at the wall to brace yourself. "No." His voice was low "I’m going to show you just what you lost, ______.  One last fucking hurrah if you will. I’m going to do exactly what your slutty heart wanted. I’m going to fuck you and leave you sitting alone in your tears and our cum.”
Despite being torn apart by sadness and panic, lust shot straight to your pussy. Where the hell was this aggressive side coming from? His hands slid promptly to your skirt and shoved it up while his upper body pinned you to the wall.
"You’re not serious?” you asked.
"Oh I’m serious, ______...Before you go fuck those two, I’m giving you one last taste. Something to savor through the disappointment.”
"I wasn’t going to-”
He cut you off when his fingers deftly found your clit and started rubbing fast and hard. Shudders ran up your spine and you couldn’t help but arch into his hand.
”Don’t lie to me. I know that’s the kind of shit you wanted.” He growled in your ear.
"S-Shusei,” you moaned, trying to fight through the haze, “Please just stop! People could see and-” but he cut you off, "Don’t care,” he retorted harshly.
Biting your lip hard, trying to fight off more tears, you succumbed to him and stopped struggling. He let out a snide chuckle and his fingers slipped down before plunging into your entrance.
"Fuck!” You gasped.
"See, such a slut. Didn’t even really put up a fight. What if it was someone else? Never mind, I know. You’d just spread your legs for them too.” His voice was full of hate and jealousy.
"Stop it!” you spat with heaving breaths.
"Why? It’s the truth. Isn’t that what happened back in the hotel? You got a little bit tipsy and just gave yourself to the first willing male which just so happened to be Minato?"
Shaking your head, you tried to block out his harsh words but they were hitting just as hard as his fingers. You couldn’t fight, couldn’t reply in any sensible fashion, and collapsed against the wall in sobs and moans until the coil in your stomach burst. Curses and moans and cries fled your lips as you ground down against his hand.
Shusei moaned against your neck and yanked his fingers out just to shove your panties down to the floor. You could hear the sound of his belt unbuckling then his pants hitting the floor before he forced you around. Your back smacked the wall so hard you whimpered and cringed. He didn’t seem to pay any mind to your pain, simply hooking his hands around your thighs with the command to jump. Your heart raced and your breath quickened as you leaped and wrapped your legs around his waist.
Familiar emotions flooded your veins when he thrust in and you couldn’t help but pull him into a kiss. Thankfully he kissed back, but it was nothing like the sweet kisses you loved. It was bitter and biting and left traces of iron coating your tongue.
He slammed your back against the wall again and started hammering into your body. Fuck it felt so good and hurt so bad at the same time, like you would cum and cry until your body broke into pieces on the floor.
“I almost forgot how good you feel. Can’t blame Minato for wanting a piece of this. Your pussy feels so good, _______. You look like you’re feeling pretty good too. You enjoying this?” Shusei breathed in your ear.
”God, yes… no, I don’t fucking know!” you groaned, scraping your nails along his biceps.
"You are. You’re so wet I would probably drown if I ate you out right now.”
Oh the mental image of that made your breath catch. His tongue was just as talented as the rest of his body.
”I bet you’d like that. My tongue licking your little clit as I finger you until you can’t cum any more.” He sounded like he was just as close to cumming as you were, his voice wavering and his breath catching. "You better enjoy this, because it’s the last time it’s ever going to happen,” he growled suddenly.
“Oh, Shusei, I-” you moaned and he grunted and smashed your mouths together again, seemingly silencing you on purpose. Giving back all you could, you plunged your tongue against his and scratched up and down his skin until you were holding onto him for dear life as you teetered on the edge.
Panting and huffing, he drew back and pressed your foreheads together. "Fucking cum right now you slut.”
It snapped then, hard and fast and overwhelming to the point you felt you couldn’t breathe but you got out the words you needed to say.
"I love you, Fuck Shusei, I love you so much!”
He moaned and buried his face in your neck as you felt his cum flood your core. Both of your bodies stilled and you went silent, the music from the bar filling the space instead. He lifted finally and your eyes locked for a moment.
"If you loved me, you wouldn’t have cheated on me then left me, ______.  You’ve never loved me as much as I loved you.”
With that, he set you to your feet, redressed himself, and left with you watching at a loss of what to do. Then you fell to the floor, broken inside just as much as you were outside, crying into your hands. God what had you done?
Okayy Dawnn thank you so much for replying. <3 AHHH ok so what if when y/n found out Shuji cheated, Tomio had a minor stroke and just needed a days rest therefore when y/n goes to visit him and tells him Shuji has been cheating, Tomio forces y/n to marry someone worst or even better than Shuji, and when Shuji finds out he is absolutely devastated but accepts it's his own fault y/n left and is now happier without him and Kisaki is mad another gang got Tomio's turf and Shuji's punishment is watching his wife be happy with another man and Shusei calling another man "tou chan" instead of him. (I also like to think y/n married another man who is buffer and possibly stronger than Shuji like a Taiju built kind of man that Shuji would absolutely lose to). Thank you for this amazing series Dawn and I love imagining all the possible ways a minor inconvenience could change the plot so much with all your series. ❤️❤️❤️
dis be sooo late am sorzz !! ngl this ask got my brain tingling shrhfh that would be so heartbreaking for shuji since he’s already so so in love with her :’)) just the fact he would never get to have a happy family with her + watching his past mistakes catch up to him would forever haunt him me thinks
also !! big hugs for ur love on this series mwahh <33
Out Of The Office Drama: Rose Bangs Seasonelle. Client Profiles: Kaoru Kirishima x Akiyoshi Zaizen.  (MATURE)
Tumblr media
MJS: @smile-smile-ichthys @hifftn @whatdoyouexpectthistime
Staring at her reflection in the mirror, Rose smoothed down her dress.
That’s right, her dress.
She sighed. Dresses weren’t her thing, while she could admit the simple strappy, long length, black dress looked great on her. She just wasn’t a dress person.
Give her a pair of ripped jeans and a shirt and she would be happy with that. Unfortunately for Rose, the event she was going to required something a little more upscale than that.
Luckily for Rose, her parents being designers, she was often gifted with unreleased or handmade garments specifically made for her on special occasions – such as Christmas and birthdays. So she didn’t have to worry about making the effort to buy such items.
This one, she received earlier on this year as a birthday gift from her Mother. Her Father designed it and her Mother hand sewed it. They were a dream team when it came to this stuff – they worked so well together, like needle and thread.
Rose smiled, her parents were great and she really did appreciate and love them a lot. She’d have to take Ryosuke to see them soon. And hopefully she’ll get to introduce him as her boyfriend – it still sounded weird, but maybe that was perhaps because he wasn’t actually her boyfriend yet, not even close.
Ultimately, Miho and Rose hadn’t come up with a feasible plan to get Ryosuke to ‘bare his fangs’. All of Miho’s ideas where pretty X-rated and would probably kill him. Poor pup.
A little buzz from her phone snapped Rose out of her thoughts. Ah, speak of the devil.
Miho
‘Rooosseeee, I’m going to be a little late. So get the party started for me.’
Chuckling, as if she could actually hear Miho saying the words and fluttering her eyelashes unapologetically at Rose, she replied with a simple ‘Fine.’ She didn’t want to know why she was going to be late – probably something Goto related. They were even more inseparable than they were before, if that was even possible.
Rose put her phone back in her bag and gave her appearance a once over before she got ready to leave.
This party was going to be a test for Rose, in more ways than one.
Getting out the taxi, Rose sighed. She wished Jazz and H or even Izumi had decided to come – they were invited after all. But she understood since the people hosting the party had only dealt with Rose and Miho.
Rose looked up at the familiar tall building and sighed again. She was here now, may as well get it over with.
“You actually showed up?” A voice said as soon as Rose walked through the door. “I was expecting you to bail.”
Rose turned to see Minato leaned against a pillar a few feet away from her.
He wasn’t wrong, she did want to bail initially. Parties and fancy dos along with dresses were not her thing but Miho had encouraged her to go – well, her actual words were ‘If you don’t go, I’ll fire you.’ So she really didn’t have much choice.
Although with Rose no longer being a test driver, she wasn’t exactly sure what her position at MJS would be or if she even had one. She’d have to ask Miho after her wedding, no use stressing her out about it now.
“Waiting for me like a good Master?”
Rose smiled a little sinisterly at the sudden panic on his face as he realised what it must look like him standing there and Rose showing up at that moment. He quickly composed himself and pushed off the pillar and leisurely walked towards her.
“Don’t get too big for your pommy boots. I just needed some air, that party is too loud.”
Rose linked her arm through Minato’s and ignored him. The gesture completely innocent on her part, she didn’t do it because she wanted to touch him, more because he was something familiar in the unknown. It may have been inconsiderate of Rose to do something so casually and not consider his feelings but she looked up at him and he didn’t look the least bit concerned or affected by it, just simply allowing it. As if he understood.
It wasn’t as if she was afraid to walk into a party, it was more that while Miho hadn’t arrived she was the sole representative of MJS. And with Rose’s abrasive, blunt and somewhat lacklustre personality, it could negatively affect the others and MJS.
“Sorry, Mr Man of the hour,” Rose rolled her eyes, “Congrats on your article’s success by the way.”
She began to walk as she spoke, walking into the party would bode better with Minato than on her own, he could introduce her rather than she introduce herself. Especially, since as far as she was aware Minato was the only person other than Miho that she’d know at this event.
That wasn’t true and Rose was going to find that out very shortly.
The reason for the event was thanks to Minato’s article on MJS. The magazine had sold so many copies that they had to increase production. Rose remembered on a day of one of their trysts, Minato bringing her a copy of the magazine not long after it hit the shelves.
It was a really good article, tasteful and conveyed how professional and how much dedication everyone at MJS put in to finding each person the perfect match. Minato had a way with words that was quite impressive, he was a smooth talker under that arrogant side to him.
“Thanks, I couldn’t have done it without you,” Minato rubbed the back of his neck a little shyly as they walked through one set of doors. “And Miss Fujiwara.”
Rose nodded, that was true. Although, he should be thanking Miho more so than her. But Miho wasn’t here yet so she would accept it on Miho’s behalf.
The noise of the party started to ring loudly in their ears as they walked further down a corridor. Rose let Minato lead her, her last time at Seasonelle she barely managed to navigate the many different floors and corridors.
Although, they were still on the ground floor, makes for an easy escape – And Rose might just need it.
Words were sparse between Rose and Minato as they stood outside the doors to what Rose assumed was where the party was being held. It was awkward, they didn’t actually talk all that much. They just let their bodies consume each other.
But it was comfortable that way. There was no reason to get attached when they didn’t know very much about each other. That’s why their fuck buddy relationship worked so well.
And now that it was over, they had to figure out what they were to each other which was the awkward part. Perfect strangers or friends?
It wasn’t like either of them disliked the other, after all – there was a mutual connection there through their lonely hearts and that connection wasn’t just through the insatiable lust to consume and be consumed sexually.
“Are we just gonna stand in front of the doors all night?”
Rose asked as she loosened the already loose hold she had of his bicep. She looked up at Minato and saw his brow was creased and his expression looked like he was having an internal war with himself. Perhaps he too was trying to figure their situation out.
“Showing up and looking like that after breaking off our ‘friends with benefits’ relationship,” Minato paused and pinched the bridge of his nose. “You’re really making it hard for me, literally.”
Rose chuckled.
There was no malice in his words, no underlying anger or upset with Rose and her decision just sexual frustration.
“Did you want me to show up in jeans and a t-shirt?”
Rose nudged his arm intending to make a joke of the situation.
“Wouldn’t have made a difference, I know what you look like underneath them,” Minato shrugged and looked down at Rose. “Although, I’m not sure I’m looking forward to every guy in that room creeping on you, so maybe jeans and t-shirt would have been better.”
“You’re being incredibly honest today.”
Minato shrugged.
“Shall we?”
Minato gestured as he placed his hand on the door, ready to push it open. Rose nodded back letting go of his arm and smoothing down her dress, she needed to get this over with so she could go back to figuring her love life out.
Lucky for Rose, when Minato pushed the door open, the atmosphere wasn’t as formal as she was expecting. This wasn’t a grand entrance and people weren’t staring or whispering as she stepped over the threshold and into what she thought was going to be hell.
Rose let out the breath she hadn’t realised she was holding and she scanned the room, searching mostly for Miho hoping that she was already here although she knew she wouldn’t be.
There were groups of people casually drinking and laughing and enjoying the success of their top dog editor. It was funny really, out of everyone that should be happy, the man of the hour looked like he was pouting.
“Minato, there you are!”
An all too familiar voice came from the right of them.
“Where have you been hiding? This is your party.”
The voice grew louder as he approached and Rose had almost forgotten that Minato and Shusei were from the same magazine.
“Went out for fresh air and bumped into this one.”
Minato had turned towards Shusei and motioned with his head backwards to Rose who was shielded from view by Minato’s broad upper body. Rose took that as her cue to step from behind Minato and into view.
“Hey.”
Rose said, her smile pleased to see him but wishing it was in a different environment.
“Rose! Minato said he didn’t think you were coming.”
Shusei stepped forward, bypassing Minato’s protective stance and ignoring the glare from his best friend. He bowed at Rose and she stared blankly back at him. Formal greetings like this were another of Rose’s least favourite things. Especially after being around three women who weren’t originally from Japan and didn’t use such greetings with people they were friends with or familiarly acquainted with.
“Don’t do that,” Rose said, touching his arm lightly. “I didn’t know if I was either, but Miho said I had to come.”
“Of course you did.”
Minato said, throwing his 2 cents into the conversation rather than watching idly.
“Minato’s right. Without you and Miss Fujiwara, the top dog wouldn’t have been able to write his article and the big bosses wouldn’t have thrown this party for us.”
Shusei smiled, that same beautiful boyish smile with a hint of mischievousness she remembered from about a month or so ago. Rose smiled back, she was happy to learn that after he picked one of the matches Miho and Rose had chosen for him, they began dating almost a week or so later.
“Did you get the flowers I sent you?”
Rose nodded, she remembered when they arrived at MJS. She had never seen such a large arrangement of flowers. All roses. Mostly red but there were a few white ones, it was beautiful and before reading the card attached to them, she somehow knew they were from Shusei.
“They were beautiful. I think that was the first time I’d received flowers.” Rose smiled.
Shusei had leaned in to have this private conversation, although the music and chatter of other guests probably masked their conversation very easily. But with a quick glance over Shusei’s shoulder at Minato, she could see that the closeness of them both pissed him off.
“Shusei.”
A monotone voice came from behind Rose. She looked up to the sky scraper of a guy behind her and her heart nearly fell out her ass.
“Ah, Kaoru. Don’t worry, I found Minato.”
Out of every god damn crazy fucking coincidence in the world.
Rose was pretty short stood amongst these three men but she now wished she was even shorter or better yet, she wished she was invisible.
Noticing her gaze Kaoru looked down.
“Rose?”
“Hi.”
Rose said, her voice coming out as shocked as she looked.
“How do you know each other?”
Minato’s voice boomed through the awkward atmosphere.
But that was a question neither of them could answer without lawyers becoming involved.
-FLASHBACK-
Rose sat in the restaurant verified as a ‘safe place’ by Takao and H. Her client was sat opposite her, his face stoic but expressionless at the same time.
He read over the menu, aware but not phased by Rose’s gaze as if he was completely used to the attention of eyes on him.
His face was handsome and his eyes intense as he read over each meal option. Messy black locks, that looked untouched as if he’d just woken up, framed his chiselled bone structure. His upper body, even though he was sat down, still towered over Rose’s. He could certainly be a model if he wanted to be.
Yet, he was a journalist – that seemed to not to like to talk. Rose had a little chuckle in her head of the irony of a not so talkative journalist.
Which in reality didn’t bode well for the observer – who also wasn’t an extraordinary conversationalist. But this was work and she needed to know more about him in order to find his perfect match. And that required talking.
But first, the waitress arrived to take their orders.
Rose hadn’t even looked at the menu once, she was too buy gawking at her client. So she ordered the same as him – it sounded good enough. And all she really needed was something to fill the gas tank. It’s not like she enjoyed food all that much, unless it was with Ryosuke.
Rose shook her head, now was not the time to think about her childhood friend.
She was working.
“You okay?”
Rose’s head snapped up to the looming presence opposite her.
Staring at his expressionless face made Rose’s heart thud against her chest once. He was handsome while he was staring at his menu, he was even more handsome when he was directing his attention directly at her.
She wondered briefly why so many handsome men come to MJS. They clearly would have no problem finding a girlfriend.
“Yeah, sorry,” Rose said ignoring her own thoughts. “So Mr Kirishima, a journalist huh? That must be interesting?”
“Mm, it can be.”
And that was all the response Rose got. Well, getting him to open up will be pretty hard.
He didn’t seem uninterested or disappointed in her being his partner for the date scenario. More like he was just a quiet and reserved person. And Rose could respect that since she was similar in many ways. But that respect was only to a degree, she had a job to do after all.
“You can call me Kaoru.”
Rose was a little shocked as he shifted his gaze a little bashfully.
“You can call me Rose.”
She said back, looking directly at him and smiling as sweet as was possible for her.
“Rose.”
He repeated, an almost smile playing on his own lips.
After the awkward second introductions were made, things seemed to drastically change. The atmosphere wasn’t nearly as intense – more relaxed even with the silence.
“What are you looking for in a future bride?”
Rose asked, she toyed with the idea of getting her notebook out but that seemed too formal for a date. She could make mental notes for now.
“Likes cats.”
Kaoru said after a brief moment of him furrow browed and thinking hard.
Rose did a little squeal in her head – all animals were great but cats and dogs for Rose were like her kryptonite.
“Do you have a cat?”
Rose asked – definitely for the profile and not for her own sake…
“Yeah, her name is Tama.”
Kaoru smiled fondly as if she was in front of him right now and Rose’s hand that was fiddling with the edge of the napkin twitched slightly. His smile was unexpected but so beautiful.
“Do you have a picture? If you don’t mind showing me of course.”
Rose asked, a little more eagerly than she had intended and it showed as Kaoru let out a dry chuckle as he reached for his phone in his pocket.
He said nothing but complied with Rose’s request and it took him less than second to pass his phone over the table to her.
Rose’s hand damn near snatched the device out of his hand before he’d even reached it to her. She gave a small smile as an apology but quickly turned her attention to the screen.
A fluffy little grey tabby curled up in what looked like Kaoru’s lap – Rose hadn’t had a chance to look at that area yet but she assumed. She looked soft and sweet and totally comfortable being around him.
“You can tell how much she loves and trusts you even though she’s sleeping. She’s so cute.”
Rose smiled, her heart warm but also a little envious. Her parents never allowed her to have a pet. Before they moved away, they couldn’t afford one and always joked that Ryosuke was her pet anyway. And when they could – they didn’t think Rose was capable of looking after something when she was still so young. Eventually Rose just gave up on the idea all together.
She could get one now. But was that really fair when she was working and studying all the time? No, it wasn’t. Maybe after her degree.
“Do you have any pets?”
“No.”
Rose shook her head, mostly to get rid of the slight tinge of green lacing her bloodstream and passed his phone back over to him.
“I’m too busy and won’t be able to take proper care of one.”
Kaoru looked at Rose for a long moment. It was like he was looking at her for the first time. And Rose stared back, unable to look away from his hypnotising gaze.
“Are there any other qualities you’d like her to have?”
“Who, Tama?”
“Tama?”
Rose cocked her head before realising that he thought they were still talking about his cat.
“Oh, no I meant your future bride.”
He looked down again, his brow furrowing once more.
Rose rested her head on her hand as she watched him think. Perhaps he hadn’t actually thought that much about his future bride. He was only twenty-six after all, there was still plenty of time for him to figure out what he wanted.
The food came an interrupted both of their train of thoughts.
Dinner was quiet.
Rose ate whatever it was on her plate. Not really noticing the taste – like she expected, it tasted of nothing. Kaoru ate too, sitting tall and stoic.
Dinner really was quiet.
But somehow it was comfortably quiet, not intense or awkward, just quiet. The last question Rose had asked hadn’t been answered but she almost didn’t want him to. She could see the pain in his eyes each time he lost himself in thought. She didn’t want him to hurt.
She was not the person who could take that pain away. Maybe she could find someone to heal him though.
A broken heart needed patience and understanding. Rose knew that and she hadn’t even had her heart broken. Although she often wondered if she had a heart anymore. But she remembered to write it down in her report.
After dinner, they went up to the hotel room – Rose wondered if Miho had anything to do with this rule rather than H and Takao. Save money on expenses like travel and such. She wasn’t a cheap skate by any means, but with the increase on security since the stalker incident. Money was considerably a lot tighter.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Rose got out her sketchbook while Kaoru went and looked out the window at the beautiful view of Tokyo.
One flick of Rose’s pencil and she was off. She got lost in her drawing and in Kaoru’s profile. He was every artist’s dream – so beautiful on the outside but what was underneath the surface she wanted to scratch away with her pencil and capture completely. There was something so soft about him despite the distance he keeps between himself and other people. And maybe if Rose and he had met under different circumstances, she may actually want to close the distance.
“Oh, god damn it.”
Rose snarled in a English as she pressed too hard on the page and the led in her pencil snapped clean off.
“You speak English?”
Kaoru said suddenly, making Rose remember that she was working. She wondered how long she had been immersed in her drawing for a second before answering.
“Um, not a lot. One of the girls I work with is from England. She curses in English all the time and I kind of learnt it from her.”
Rose chuckled remembering H chunter and swear in English over that Butler she was having disagreeables with.
“Do you?”
Rose looked up briefly before she went in search for another pencil.
“Mhm. German too.”
Rose’s head snapped up again.
“No way? My other co-worker is German.”
Rose’s eyes sparkled with mischievousness as she stared up at Kaoru who was now facing her with his back leaning against the window.
“How do you say ‘Lost any knickers today?’ in German?”
Kaoru looked at Rose, if he was confused it certainly didn’t show on his face.
“Heute schon dein Hoschen verloren?”
He spoke clearly but it went straight over Rose’s head.
“Hut shun dein Hosen verlor?”
Kaoru laughed, the first human like emotion she had seen on his face other than when he was talking about his cat. And that made her smile, instead of being embarrassed about her terrible attempt at speaking German.
“Nice try. But not quite,” He said after he finished laughing and came to sit next to her on the bed. “Heute.”
“Heute.”
Rose repeated.
“Schon.”
“Schon.”
“Dein.”
“Dein.”
“Hoschen.”
“Hoschen.”
“Verloren.”
“Verloren.”
Rose kind of regretted asking him to teach her such a long sentence. German was so much more difficult than she had anticipated.
“Now say the whole thing.” He instructed.
“Heute schon dein Hoschen verloren?”
Kaoru smiled and patted Rose on the head. If this was anyone else she would feel incredibly patronised by this gesture but somehow she knew this was his way of saying ‘well done’ without actually having to say it.
Rose repeated a few times until she was sure she had it memorized – she even wrote it down, after finding her pen.
“Okay, how do you say ‘A Butler knows how to service their Master.’ In English?”
Rose knew what ‘Butler’ and ‘Master’ were in English. She just needed to fit them into a sentence. Plus, she knew this would piss H off and she’d go off into an angry tangent and they were kind of amusing to watch.
Seems like Miho was rubbing off onto Rose.
“A Butler knows how to service their Master.”
“A Butler knows how to service their Master.”
Rose repeated not needing any more help than that. She wasn’t fluent in English by any means but she could string an almost sentence together. Kind of.
“You got that easy.”
Rose beamed at Kaoru, her mischievousness satisfied for the time being. She’d say them as soon as she saw the girls the next day.
“Thanks, I can’t wait to use them!”
She looked at Kaoru who was now looking at her sketchbook that she had placed in between them while she wrote down notes for her language lessons.
“Ah. Sorry, I kind of draw people without asking. My hands kind of have a mind of their own.”
Again, Kaoru’s face was back into ‘expressionless’ and he was harder to read than Goto. She wasn’t really sorry, but she learned it was probably better to apologise in case he didn’t like the idea of being the subject of her artistry.
Before Rose had time to apologise again or offer to rip up the drawing, she was on her back. Kaoru’s large hands wrapped tightly around her wrists which he had pinned either side of her face. One of his knees lodged between her thighs.
If Rose wasn’t here for the purpose she was and didn’t want to sleep with him, she would had kneed him straight in the crotch. Rose didn’t push the sex part of the date scenario because it wasn’t like he had to and she couldn’t read him well enough for any signs that he did. But she also wasn’t going to stop him if he wanted to.
She wanted to say something, to ask him if he was okay, to check he actually wanted to go through with it. But he kissed her before she could.
While his hold on her was rough and tight, his kiss was as gentle as kitten kisses. And Rose found herself moaning at the contrast. It was something that turned her on so much.
She clenched her fists, her fingers that had been desperate to capture the tornado of his beauty on paper now itching to just touch him. To feel the sparks of his feelings surge through her.
Clothes were shed quickly. Kaoru taking full control. Undressing her then himself.
Rose made a mental note that he liked to take the lead.
After clothes were gone. He held her again, this time he was on his side, his arm under her head as she laid on her back. It wasn’t quite as dominating as his first intimate touch but still wonderful all the same. There was something more than just sex lingering in his touches and Rose had to wonder if maybe he was imagining someone else.
His fingers that had left marks around her wrists were now dancing with persistence down her bare stomach. His lips hovered over her ear and his hot and heavy breaths echoed through her ear drums right down to her nether regions.
He was slightly teasing in the lowering dips of his fingers that immediately retreated back upwards when Rose’s body began to tremble with anticipation.
Small growls escaped from her to show her frustration and desperation to be touched lower than her belly button. And Kaoru chuckled sadistically in her ear as his response but seemed just as frustrated with his own teasing and made a beeline for her pussy.
The first touch was bliss on its own. His large finger pad touching her bundle of nerves with little to no pressure but it felt good. Then he began to move his finger anti-clockwise and it was so good even the narrator had trouble thinking of a word to describe the pleasure Rose was feeling.
He did this for a possibly twenty seconds, making her clit swell with desire before he moved his digits lower. Sliding his fingers through her wet folds and collecting some of her wetness onto his fingertips as lubricant before teasing her open.
Rose turned her head towards Kaoru when his finger was inside her. His digits were long and certainly reached further than anyone else’s fingers ever could. She wanted to say something, make an innuendo or some dirty talk but when their eyes locked, he began to move and broke Rose’s train of thought.
He knew what he was doing. He could read Rose better than she would have given him credit for. Especially after only meeting twice and barely speaking at all. That explains how he can be journalist without having to talk much.
The first few pumps of his wrist were soft but quickly gave way to faster and slightly rougher ones. Rose’s cries increased with each thrust and she needed to grab onto him, thankfully her hand was level with his crotch, she pressed her palm softly against his cock.
Already fully stood to attention.
That stuttered his continuous wrist action but he didn’t stop. He slowed his pace and waited for Rose to wrap her fingers around his length – which by the way matched his height, although was a little girthier than expected, and start to stroke him before he continued the previous speed of his movements.
Harmonies of their moans and deep breaths began to fill the room. The air con that was blowing silently in the air was null and void with the amount of heat radiating off them both.
They were still staring at each other while they continued. Kaoru occasionally kissing Rose or resting his forehead against hers when their paces began to pick up.
“Are, are you close?”
Kaoru whispered against her sweaty forehead.
“Y-yes.”
Rose replied, her hips bucking against his hand. Her eyes shutting ready to fall into abandoned bliss when he moved his hand so his palm grazed against her clit with his thrusts.
But she didn’t.
Kaoru removed his hand from her and untangled himself from their position.
Rose was almost there and then poof. She could feel the rush of blood circulating to her orgasm starting to thin. She opened her eyes when she felt the bed dip and his warmth leave her.
He padded over to where he’d thrown his trousers, searched through one pocket and then the other before pulling out a little foil packet and then returning to her.
“From reading the rules, this is over once I cum right?”
Rose stared at him for a moment before nodding her head slowly. That was the rule Miho and Jazz came up with. But Rose had heard many stories of them breaking their own rule.
The sadistic flicker in his eyes made an appearance for the first time. It made the blood in her veins thicken and head straight back to her pussy.
“Seems unfair if you get to cum as many times as you like but I only get to cum once.”
He smirked and Rose couldn’t hide the surprise on her face. She liked to pride herself in being able to read people very well. But Kaoru seemed to have become a master of poker face.
He ripped the foil, tossed it and rolled the condom over his cock. Rose watched, the anticipation making her heart thud hard against her chest.
Kaoru rolled Rose onto her front, her torso laid flat on the bed as he raised her ass upwards. When he was sure Rose was comfortable, he ran his cock from her clit to her entrance and back again before he sheathed himself inside her. Fractionally pushing her up the bed.
“No cumming without permission.”
Kaoru said and Rose nodded and whispered a ‘yes’ into the bedsheets.
Rose had experienced orgasm denial many times. It was one of Kyobashi’s favourite kinks and he specifically enjoyed teasing Rose about how much she actually loved it as well. Which she did but admitting it to Kyobashi was the same as admitting to Ota that he made a good piece of art.
Painful.
He was relentless from his entrance. His hips were fast and brutal with their thrusting. The sound of skin slapping against skin was loud and echoed throughout the room.
The soft and subtle moans that were once occupying Rose’s windpipe were now dry and hoarse as she nearly screamed with each pound from his hips. When he introduced his well-practiced fingers strumming a perfect rhythm on her clit, he was making it damn near impossible not to cum.
When Rose would feel her orgasm coming close, Kaoru would feel it too. The increase of the clench of her walls surrounding him and he would stop and change position.
They ended up going at it for hours – against the wall, the window (curtains closed, Rose remembered that even in the heat of the moment), she rode him, she gave him a blowjob, he ate her pussy, each time they both felt their orgasms right around the corner they would deny themselves it.
Kaoru’s stamina was impressive, even with Rose’s alarm blaring in her bag that the date was over. They continued. Until finally, in the missionary position, kissing and holding onto each other’s hand in an almost loving hold. They came, Rose first followed seconds later by Kaoru.
In the end she didn’t need to ask for permission, it was like after how long they had been going at it, it didn’t matter anymore.
It was strange, after they’d cleaned up and got dressed. Kaoru was exactly how he was when they first met in the restaurant but he seemed a little lighter and like he wasn’t brooding anymore.
He handed her the drawing back that ended up somewhere on the hotel room floor.
“I want this when you’ve finished.”
He said, rubbing the back of his neck once Rose had accepted the sketchbook off of him. She looked at her drawing and tried to understand what about it made Kaoru make his move. She couldn’t see it, but she was often told she captured parts of people that they thought they’d mastered at masking.
“You got it.”
Rose closed her sketchbook and put it back in her bag. Satisfied physically and with how the date scenario went.
-BACK TO THE PRESENT.-
“She found my cat.”
Kaoru suddenly said, making Rose blink twice, remembering how she couldn’t walk properly for the next two days thanks to him, before going along with the story.
“Yeah, she was stuck up a tree meowing at me, so I got her down.”
Rose smiled slightly, as Minato stared at her, then looked to Kaoru for further explanation.
“I was looking for Tama and bumped into her getting her down from the tree.”
Kaoru shrugged, his face that emotionless canvas it was when Rose first met him. Suppose it was good that he had the face he did especially when these kind of situations pop up. He gave nothing away that he was lying.
Shusei however, smiled a little more than necessary as if he knew. Which he probably did. After all, he knew how MJS worked better than Minato. And he also knew that Rose was a test driver, which Minato didn’t.
“It’s great that we don’t need to introduce you or anything but we should probably introduce her to the Chief, don’t you think Minato?”
Shusei smiled at Rose for a second before looking at Minato.
Rose wasn’t that phased but was still grateful for Shusei’s attempt to change the subject. She’d been in more awkward situations than this before but she had to be careful what she said and who she said it to. If she somehow accidently breached MJS protocol that could cause some major trouble.
“I guess, just keep an eye on Yuasa. We all know he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”
Minato began to walk away, Shusei following behind, leaving Rose with Kaoru.
“Thank you for the picture.”
He said patting Rose on the shoulder before following the direction of Minato and Shusei. Rose walked behind him. She knew her little legs wouldn’t be able to keep up with his pace so she didn’t bother. She was actually surprised when he slowed down to walk beside her.
“It’s really good. When you have your own exhibit can I write a piece on it?”
Kaoru asked and Rose found herself smiling in response.
“Sure, you might be waiting around a while though. With work and doing art projects I don’t get much chance to do pieces for myself.”
They continued to walk, leisurely following Shusei and Minato as they hunted down this ‘chief’.
“Oh, thank you for teaching me the German and English phrases. They went down wonderfully.”
Rose chuckled as she remembered the way both the girls reacted.
-MINI FLASHBACK-
“Hey Jazz, Heute schon dein Hoschen verloren?”
Rose said as soon as she walked through the office doors to MJS. She had been reciting these phrases the entire journey to work. Nothing would be worse than missing the pun because of mispronouncing a word or leaving out a word entirely so the sentence didn’t make sense.
Jazz, H and Izumi were all stood around his desk. Prime time for using the sentences in their natives tongues. Two of her victims in one place, it was perfect.
“What the hell did you just say?”
Rose grinned before repeating the phrase Kaoru had taught her.
“I, I don’t know whether to be impressed or insulted that you know how to say that? Who taught you?”
Rose tapped her nose, implying that is was a secret.
“Avoiding the question huh? Guess it must be a few then?”
Rose shrugged her shoulders.
“I’ll have you know, now that I am happily in a relationship, I don’t lose them. Just misplace them in various places in the apartment.”
Rose laughed but then her attention turned to H and Izumi who were staring at them with a questioning eye.
“H, I figured out the solution to your Butler problems.”
Rose smiled, although it wasn’t a smile of sincerity, more of mischief. H eyed her, clearly expecting something unhelpful to come from Rose’s lips.
“A butler knows how to service their Master,” Rose said clearly in English “So you just have to become his Master.” The second part of her sentence was in Japanese.
Rose was surprised that nothing came flying at her like a pen or a ball of paper or Izumi – H was like the Hulk when she was angry. She didn’t hold back and that was something Rose loved about her. Women were still so reserved in Japan – not expressing the extent of their feelings. So coming across likeminded women was one in a million chance. But here she was surrounded by three of them.
“You’ve been waiting to use these since you learnt them, haven’t you?”
H said rolling her eyes hard at Rose before laughing at the grin she had plastered on her face.
Overall, it was a success. Neither were offended, quite the opposite they both seemed pretty impressed. Rose needed to thank Kaoru again for the language lessons.
-BACK TO THE PRESENT-
“Heh, I’m glad. You didn’t screw up the pronunciation then?”
Rose raised her eyebrow, the little tease in Kaoru’s tone was a nice change from the deep monotone voice she had grown to think was the only tone to his voice. She was also a little surprised by how chirpy and talkative he seemed in comparison to when they met.
He was obviously in love with the girl whose profile he picked. That was good.
“Heute schon dein Hoschen verloren?”
Rose said, proud that even though she had used them and probably wouldn’t have need to say them again, she still could remember and pronounce them correctly.
“Impressive.”
Kaoru acknowledged.
“Ah, Rose. Over here.”
Rose turned to the direction of Shusei’s voice and saw him waving to her through a crowd of a couple of people.
“After you.”
Kaoru said, waiting for Rose to walk before he did.
Considering this was an event that she didn’t particularly want to come to nor did she want to be the sole representative of MJS. She was actually not hating it – she nearly forgot she was in a dress, nearly. Yet she still couldn’t wait for Miho to arrive.
Smiling as nicely as she could she stood next to Shusei and Minato and looked between them before looking to the other man they were with.
Rose’s heart had already nearly fallen out of her ass when she bumped into to Kaoru. Now it definitely had.
Her eyes widened but she kept a small smile on her face. The look on his face was professional despite his eyes widening the same as Rose’s.
“Rose, this is out editor in Chief – Akiyoshi Zaizen.”
Minato said and Rose nodded and bowed slightly. She had already admitted to meeting Shusei and Kaoru under false pretences, surely none of them would buy it if she made up another little lie about how she knew their boss.
Best to play dumb.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Rose, from MJS matchmaking and wedding planning agency.”
Rose introduced herself even though he knew EXACTLY who she was.
“Pleased to meet you. Thank you for allowing one of our journalists to write a piece on your business.”
He bowed back. The politeness something Rose remembered well.
-FLASHBACK-
“Thank you for joining me this evening.”
Akiyoshi said, standing when Rose reached him at the bar he was sat at.
“The pleasure is all mine.”
Rose responded before going to pull a chair out to sit but Akiyoshi beat her to it and pulled it out for her and gracefully sliding her close but not too close to the bar once she had sat comfortably before reseating himself.
“What would you like to drink?” he asked.
“Whiskey please.”
Rose said and smiled at the little bit of shock on his face when she’d asked for such a ‘strong’ drink. He ordered both of them a drink and sat silently as the bartender poured them and then once the bartender had gone to serve some other customers, he turned slightly to Rose.
“This is my first date in a while, so please forgive my awkwardness.”
He said twisting the glass in his hand.
Rose smiled at him, the honesty from him was nice. He looked incredibly put together and sure of himself from first glance but she could see the fidgeting as signs as nerves.
It was cute.
“You’re not awkward at all.”
Rose smiled, he was six years older than her and maybe in his age and lack of dating lacked the confidence of her previous clients.
“But we should probably get all the ‘work talk’ out the way if you want this to be more like a date.” Rose said.
Although much of these conversations would have been had back at the office with Miho, it was best Rose had a clear idea of what kind of person he was and the kind of woman he’d like to end up with. Not just what she’s like in the sack.
He nodded his agreement and turned more fully and confidently towards her.
“What would you like your future wife to be like?”
Rose took a dainty sip from her whisky – which wasn’t her usual style of drinking but she had to be fully alert to be able to remember everything he said.
“She has to be patient and understand I am married to my job first.”
Patience, important for other reasons too.
“I don’t mind if she can’t cook since I can but she has to be willing to learn. I can think of nothing more homely than being stood side by side with my wife cooking dinner.”
He seemed a little bashful at his comment but continued anyway.
“She has to have drive and passion.”
“Are we talking about towards her goals or in the bedroom?”
Rose asked deadpan. It was a serious question after all.
Akiyoshi however was caught by surprise and a light sheen of beer that he’d sipped into his mouth sprayed out from between his lips and all over the bar surface. And he grabbed a napkin from the dispenser next to them to clean it up.
Rose cocked her head. Really? Twenty-nine years old and a woman saying something like that had him all shook? He was like a blushing virgin and somehow it reminded her of Ryosuke and she found herself smiling without even meaning to.
“Um, well both I guess.”
He answered as he scrunched up the used napkin.
“Well what about her appearance? Short, tall, curvy, skinny, ass, boobs?”
“I don’t have a ‘type’ when it comes to looks. She just has to be confident in herself and her appearance. That makes a woman one hundred times more beautiful.”
Rose nodded, she agreed. Nothing was sexier than a woman who loved herself.
“You for example are not the type of beautiful the media portrays.”
He started before Rose interrupted.
“Watch it.”
She glared but there was no anger behind her gaze but he wasn’t afraid of her reaction. He was right though, she wasn’t the type of girl you’d see in all the magazines and called the face of ‘2017’. She was sat with him in a plain pair of black jeans and a tucked in white polo shirt with bright red hair and simple make-up.
Not exactly what you see on the cover of magazines or on mainstream tv shows.
“But you are so beautiful because you are confident in what you have.”
Rose’s eyes widened slightly. Two compliments in one sentence. This guy was a real smooth talker and it looked like he didn’t even know it.
“Thank you.” Rose smiled.
“No need.” Akiyoshi smiled back.
This was more like a date than any of her other clients. It felt almost easy talking to Akiyoshi about anything, like when she was with Ryosuke.
You seriously need to stop thinking about him when you’re working, girl. Otherwise these weird feelings of guilt in the pit of your stomach are gonna make that whisky come back up straight into Akiyoshi’s face. – said the narrator to Rose.
“Shall we?”
Akiyoshi said bringing Rose out of her internal conversation with the narrator. He’d offered Rose his arm after they’d finished their drinks and like a true gentleman escorted her perfectly up to the hotel room.
Rose was quite amazed by how gentle, patient and kind he was to her. Once in the hotel room, he took her bag and her jacket and placed them sensibly and carefully on a chair by the door. They say romance is dead but Akiyoshi clearly didn’t get the memo.
Normally, Rose would have started drawing her client by now, this was the first time she hadn’t had her sketchbook close to her – especially when such a delicious model was stood in front of her.
She hadn’t really noticed in the dimly lit bar just how incredibly built he was. His shoulders were broad and looked toned and muscular. His neck was long and pale. She licked her lips thinking about how beautiful a pattern of hickeys would look on is skin.
Drawing him is a must.
“Feel free to say no to this request,” Rose started, heading towards her bag. “But would you mind if I draw you?”
Rose wasn’t one to normally ask for permission before drawing. She had a bad habit of letting her inspiration take hold of her before common sense. But with how polite Akiyoshi was, she had at the front of her mind the curtsey to ask first.
“That, that might be the first and probably the last time someone has asked to draw me.”
He said, a little unsure on the question and the answer he wanted to give.
“If you’d agree, I’d ask you to be my model all the time.”
Rose said evenly.
“That’s a big compliment from an artist.”
He nodded.
Rose nodded with him. It was a big compliment – she didn’t just draw anyone. There was something in everyone she met recently that made her want to draw. The inspiration hitting her like a truck and if she let it pass by she wouldn’t be able to create anything worthwhile.
“I don’t have problem with it but I can’t guarantee I’ll be a good subject.”
Akiyoshi seated himself on the edge of the bed while Rose shifted the chair into a good position and got out her equipment.
“That position doesn’t look comfortable, here.”
Before seating herself, Rose walked over to where Akiyoshi sat and encouraged him to sit against the headboard. He’d be much more comfortable and that would make his expression better.
She tipped his chin slightly up towards her as she stood over him. She had intended to move his face into a position where she could capture the length of his neck.
Their eyes met in a shojo manga style ‘almost kiss moment’. But unlike those kinds of stories, Rose wasn’t one to shy away from a kissing scene.
BUT.
She also didn’t like making the first move with clients, it was their decision to make. Not hers.
“Can I kiss you?”
Rose grinned, that wasn’t the first move she was expecting. But it matched the way he acted the rest of the date. And it was insanely adorable. Like they were on a real date.
Even though she was smiling and not opposed to the idea in the slightest, Akiyoshi didn’t bring his face any closer to hers or attempt to bring hers to his until she voiced her consent.
“Yes.”
Wrapping his hand around her neck and under her hair, Akiyoshi brought Rose’s face lower until their lips met.
It was just a peck at first, then another and another, until pecks gave way to making out. Rose naturally gravitated to seating herself in his lap.
Adjusting himself, to get her comfortable first before worrying about his own comfort was another mental note Rose made. He said he was married to his job first before a relationship but Rose could tell in his actions even if he was busy with work, he’d do anything to make sure his woman was aware of how much he cared and loved her.
The woman he ends up with was going to be cherished.
He was even so gracious as to ask permission by licking Rose’s bottom lip before their tongues made an appearance into their kiss.
Rose still wasn’t used to soft and gentle sex. She didn’t dislike it, but rough sex didn’t complicate feelings quite as much. And while Rose was fully aware she didn’t have feelings for Akiyoshi, everything he was doing was something that she had lacked experience in and made her a little nervous.
Not in a bad way.
His hands eventually wandered from her hair and trailed down her back until he reached her ass and softly grabbed onto her. Grinding her hips into his using her ass as leverage.
Rose broke the kiss.
“Ass man, huh?”
She pecked his lips and started to grind on him a little harder. She couldn’t help saying something to perhaps spice it up, she would claim to herself that it was to see all sides of his sexual preference but it was more for her own.
“With an ass like yours, I don’t know a man alive who wouldn’t be.”
Rose smirked, she wasn’t known for her outrageously big ass or even her boobs for that matter. But she prided herself on them both being firm, well-rounded and perky. She could thank practicing martial arts since she was eight for that.
“And here I thought you were being a gentleman all night, but you’ve been staring at my ass.”
Rose ran her fingers through his hair, tugging slightly so his head tilted and his neck was on show to her, all while she continued to grind. Enjoying when she increased the pressure on his lap and the soft groans that escaped him.
She kissed his neck once, then twice.
“You make it hard to be the perfect gentleman.”
He groaned into Rose’s shoulder. And she smiled into his neck before nipping at his skin. She wanted desperately to bite down on the plain canvas of his neck and leave a bright red mark that would evolve into a beautiful purple, yellow and red flower but she knew she couldn’t.
“I know, I can feel just how hard.”
Rose breathed into his neck. Every so often she could feel the bulge under her press into her and it was teasingly wonderful.
Abruptly and almighty growl escaped Akiyoshi as he rolled her onto her back and positioned himself above her. The sound he emitted reminded her of the roar of a male lion laying his claim to his territory. It was a sound she was sure he could make, but she wasn’t sure it was one he would make in the throes of passion.
Rose giggled in response, not squirming but move sensually under him. Acting as enticing as a dying wildebeest to the king of the African plains. Her hands slowly travelling over her own chest before moving up to his. The feel of the firmness of his pecs under his clothes was solid and soft at the same time.
God, he was hot.
Akiyoshi kissed Rose again, this time not asking for permission to initiate it or the use of his tongue. He wasn’t forceful but he was dominate.
Clothes were slowly shed, he took his time in appreciating each part of Rose that was exposed to him. He was still tentative in his actions, allowing her the time to react if she didn’t like something he was doing.
VERY tentative – noted.
Once Rose was naked under him, it was her turn to undress him. He was busy kissing her chest and making his way to her nipples and breasts but she stopped him and he let her.
She pushed him up until he was kneeling on the bed and she joined him in that position. Ridding him of each article of his clothing. He kept contact the entire time, making sure to kiss her at every opportunity that presented itself.
Once he was as naked as she was, she pushed him down onto his back.
So he was okay with relinquishing control and letting his partner hold the reigns – noted.
Before Rose chose her position, she scurried over to her bag to retrieve protection. While most of her clients were the ones to bring the condoms, it was always safe for her to have some on herself in case they ‘forgot’ one.
Straddling his thighs, she took hold of his cock. Giving him a fair amount of attention before she teased the condom over him.
Jazz would have been proud.
Straddling him once more but this time directly over his cock and with her back facing him – so her ass was in his eyeline, she placed herself against his cock and began to run her pussy up and down the length of his cock. Raising her hips and repeating when he growled sexily behind her and gripped onto her ass much harder than his previous touch.
“That feels so good.”
Rose smiled to herself and continued for a few more moments before the almost infuriating friction she was causing on herself was just no longer enough. She raised her hips high enough to break contact between their intimate parts and used her one hand to steady herself on his thigh while the other she used to hold his cock steady herself onto.
His tip stretched her open to make way for the rest of him. Rose’s head fell back with each inch that entered her. It seemed never ending, when she was sure she was at the last in there was more. When she finally rested her ass against his hips, she let out the breath she didn’t realise she was holding in.
“Shit.”
Rose breathed out but didn’t allow herself to enjoy the sensation of him filling her up.
She moved her hips, grinding once more in his lap before she leaned forward, gripping onto his knees and raising her hips and bringing them the same speed back down.
Akiyoshi was a proper ‘growler’, the animalistic noises that came from him each time Rose thrust herself up and down on him was spurring her on more and more. She kept a change of pace going, grinding then riding then back to grinding. Keeping him of his toes.
His grip on her hips and ass area was bordering on painful – just like Rose liked.
Sweat coated both of their skin as she rode him, it wasn’t until she felt his thighs begin to quiver under her that Rose slowed down.
At that moment Akiyoshi gripped her arm, she looked behind her and down at the heavenly body under her.
“Turn, turn around. I want to look at you.”
Rose like the authoritive tone to his voice, it was superior to that of anyone she had ever heard before and it was like music to her ears but there was a sweet fondness there as well. One that she could certainly get used to hearing but knew she couldn’t and wouldn’t.
She complied and rotated herself to face him without disconnecting him from her.
As soon as she was comfortable he sat up just enough to pull her down to his face for a long heated and slightly sloppy tongue and saliva dominating kiss.
His hips moved before hers, bucking up into her and encouraging her to move along with him – which she did, more than happily. And she encouraged him to use a hand to give some attention to her severely neglected clit.
They remained in this position until they both reached their orgasm. Their gazes locked, occasionally their lips and at one point their hands too.
By the way, she got to draw him after their tryst – well a certain part of him, until it filled full of blood and needed some relief. But Akiyoshi was a gentleman and made sure she came first both times.
-BACK TO THE PRESENT-
“It was a great article. You have a good team.”
Rose smiled and bowed back.
“Of course it was a great article, who do you think wrote it?”
Minato looked down at Rose with that shit eating smirk of his and Rose wished she hadn’t complimented him in front of other people.
It was at that point looked around herself.
She had slept with four people that worked for Seasonelle. She couldn’t help but feel like that was some kind of achievement. But she couldn’t understand why had Miho not told her that they all worked for the same damn magazine and that they would all be at this damn party?
She was just glad that they all didn’t know that she had slept with them. She could just imagine the headline:
‘Rose bangs Seasonelle.’
Obviously they wouldn’t actually write that as an article but she wouldn’t be surprised if Miho made a ‘fake’ magazine with that as the headline now that she was aware she’d slept with the majority of the Seasonelle editorial team.
“Would you like a drink?”
Akiyoshi asked and Rose nodded.
He turned to the table behind him with the various amounts of liquor sitting on it. After pouring a drink he turned back and handed Rose her drink.
Whisky.
Uh-oh. They were playing the ‘perfect strangers’ role but he remembered the drink she chose at the bar. This was bad.
“Whisky’s a little strong for a lady don’t you think, Chief?”
Shusei questioned.
“Is he trying to get her drunk so he can have his way with her?”
A blond haired man said as he entered the group. Rose glared at him, she remembered him from the day she came to the Seasonelle. He made her hackles go up back then and this time he made her hackles go up and her claws come out.
“No, but isn’t it obvious I don’t drink the frilly girly shit that’s obviously in your glass?”
Rose growled but immediately regretted it when she remembered where she was and that she was here representing MJS.
“Woah, defensive Pommy jumping to the Chiefs rescue.”
Minato said a little taken aback and disgruntled by Rose’s change in loyalty and Master to no other than his Boss.
“Looks like she is a little fond of the boss.”
Shusei joined in on the teasing.
“Knock it off, all of you.”
Akiyoshi growled that made all the men recoil and zip their mouths shut. It was a similar type of growl to the sound she made when Rose was riding him. And she had to sip her whisky to stop herself from smirking.
“I apologise. These guys are idiots, is whisky okay? I’m sorry I just assumed it was your drink of choice.”
Rose smiled sincerely.
“Whisky is my poison, thank you.”
After the close call, they stood huddle in a group chatting and getting acquainted for quite a while. Minato seemed to read Rose pretty well every time the blonde she found out was called ‘Chiaki’ spoke or got to close to her, he would purposely put himself into the conversation or physically moved between them both.
Rose however was almost at the tipsy point – she’d lost count of how many drinks she’d had to cover up the intensity of the situation and the uncomfortableness she felt of being here without Miho. She could feel her skin getting hotter and getting redder. She decided that was a good time to stop drinking, she wasn’t sure getting drink around four people she’d slept with was a good idea.
Miho would be mad, so it would definitely be a bad idea.
Overall though, the alcohol had given her the confidence to enjoy this as much as she could. She was chatting away and getting to know each man when they were amongst friends and their peers.
It wasn’t until she was chatting to Minato that she noticed that people were staring at direction of the door. She couldn’t see what everyone was staring at. Everyone around her seemed like giants in comparison.
The huddle of Seasonelle journalists she was stood with were too interested in what was taking place by the door.
Eventually the cause of the commotion made herself know.
“Miho.”
Rose looked her boss up and down and realised why her boss had made a wave in the crowd.
“Am I drunk or is she wearing a cat woman suit?”
Rose said to no one in particular, but Minato moved next to her.
“No, she’s wearing a cat woman suit.”
Rose sighed.
“If I’d had known this was the reason she was going to be late, I wouldn’t have given her that suit as a Bachelorette party gift.”
Rose let out a slight chuckle, sometimes Miho could be so unpredictable.
She let out a breath happy her boss was finally here but still a little taken back by her extravagant entrance. However her gratefulness of her boss finally arriving was short lived when a copper haired male that was following behind her came into her line of sight.
“Ryo?!”
Rose nearly shouted but managed to capture her voice. Her surprise but happiness to see him was shown on her face, she couldn’t hide the smile that began to take hold of her lips as she watched him sheepishly look around the room until he looked directly at her, his gaze intense and unreadable.
Unreadable.
That didn’t make sense, he was always pretty easy to read.
“You’re welcome.”
Miho stated when she got close enough before she walked back the way she came.
“What the hell, Miho?”
Rose called after, but Minato put his hand on her shoulder as if to stop her and pointed in the direction of Ryosuke.
Whose gaze intensified when Minato touched her. He made his way towards her, his footsteps full of purpose.
“Akane, we’re leaving.”
Ryosuke grabbed her hand – the touch as rough as his tone, and then turned dragging her behind him leaving behind a whole room of confused journalists and publishers.
👻 Minato X MC 👻 Shared-house Scares 👻
Just a typical day in the seasonelle shiki shared house, the guys gathered in the living room, sipping on coffee or tea. So peaceful. "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, MINATO!!!" "Shit! Hide me!" Well, almost peaceful. It's become a daily occurrence that Minato does something to piss Jess off. Minato dives behind the sofa out of view from the door in case she came in. "What's going on?" Chiaki asked as he kept an eye on the door. "I may have embarrassed her." "MAY have?" Shusei exclaimed. "Well, she hangs her laundry on her balcony so we can't see it, but some of it fell onto my balcony. I may have teased her about it." "What was it?" "Her panties." Some of their faces curled into a smirk, but that doesn't stop the constant banging of doors from the female herself. "Did you give them back to her?" "If I did I don't think she would be so angry." "Minato! I'm sure if you give them back to her now, she'll calm down." "WHERE ARE YOU, YOU LITTLE SHIT?!" "...or not." "Shusei, she won't get mad at you. Can you go out there and lure her into the kitchen so I can sneak out of the house?" "Minatoooo!... Fine!" Shusei gets up and goes out into the hallway to find Jess with a baseball bat in hand. "Woah! Calm down, Jess! I get that your angry, I'm sorry. Come on, let's go to the kitchen and I'll make you a hot chocolate. She lowers the bat and Shusei escorts her to the kitchen. However, Jess still roams the kitchen, opening all the cupboards to look for him. "Are you okay, Jess? Come here, talk to me." "Hah... It's just Minato really knows how to get under my skin. It's bad enough at work, but now I have to live with him for a month. If only I knew ways to get under his skin..." Shusei's face dropped in defeat as he could see how agitated Minato made her. Upon seeing his face, Jess' dropped too. She knew how concerned he was of her and it was really sweet of him. 'How does someone as kind as him become best friends with an asshole like Minato,' she throught. That gave her a sinister idea. "Say, Shusei... You've known Minato for a while, right? Does he have any phobias?" "Ah...sorry, Jess. I can't tell you something like that." "Please! I'm begging you! Peeves? Does he not like a certain food? Anything I could use against him?" "... Actually... I never thought Minato had any phobias for a while until he once invited me over for a sleepover and we watched the shining." "He's scared of the shining?!" "Hates it! He hid behind a blanket the whole time, screamed and I swore he almost wet himself." "Oh my God! How old was he at the time?!" "16." This could be useful, she thought to herself as she went back to her room with a cup of hot chocolate. A few days later, Jess kept really quiet which scared Minato. Eventually he thought he was safe. Minato wanted to use the bath but stopped short when he saw the towel over the door to signal that Jess was in there. It was when he turned around, the door opened and Jess came out with a towel around her head and a robe which hugged her body. "Bathrooms free." Minato walked in, not before quickly admiring her body. He was still a man after all. He got inside and removed his shirt when he saw something red in the corner of his eye. Doing a double take, he saw the word 'REDRUM' written in red. Across it was a mirror that perfectly revealed the word MURDER. "AAAHHHH!!!" Jess sat in the living room, smirking when she heard Minato's girly shriek. "Jess, are you okay?!" The guys fanned into the living room, where she was reading a book on her tablet. "That wasn't me." She replied with the most sinister smile. Some of them swore they saw a black, ominous aura around her. Thumping from the bathroom could be heard approaching the living room. "SHUSEI! YOU'RE DEAD!" Minato bursts in fuming and shirtless, looking for Shusei. "Why me?! Jess was the last in the bathroom!" His glare switched to the girl - who he just realised is in clothes with dry hair instead of a robe and towel - for a second before he charged towards her. She ran behind Kaoru and used him as a shield. "YOU BITCH!" "It's your fault for pissing me off, sissy!" At those words, he stops fighting to get to her and begins to leave, not before threatening, "So that's how it is? Just know, Jess, I don't like not having the last laugh." Uh oh. Jess kept her guard up wherever she went. She knew Minato wasn't going to be nice after his last threat, but what scared her was the fact that she didn't know what he was planning. Every cabinet she opened, she moved out of the way in case something would pop out. She looked from all sides to make sure there wasn't going to be anything to scare her. To avoid trouble, she went to the only place she thought she was safe. Her bedroom. Once she was inside, she closed the door in front of her still looking through the crack of the door in case Minato was outside. The soft click was heard before she exhaled, releasing her stress and anxiety. She turned towards her bed, near the window, where she planned to go back to her book. Just as she looked up, on her balcony was Samara Hardaway, the creepy girl from the ring. The ghostly figure was seen on the outside reaching up to the handle of Jess' balcony door. Upon seeing, Jess screamed at the top of her lungs as she scrambled to unlock her door. The moment it opened, she ran straight into Kaoru and Chiaki who heard her screaming. "Jess, what's wrong?" Chiaki asked softly in an attempt to calm her down. However, she still shook violently until Kaoru enveloped her in a hug. She finally began to calm down but she still couldn't form a sentence. The most she could do was hold a shaken finger in the direction of her room. Chiaki moved slowly to her door and peeked inside. As soon as he saw it, he flinched but went in. Kaoru and Jess followed and Chiaki grabbed the outstretched hand of Samara. As soon as he did, the limb broke apart from the body. On further inspection, it was clear it was a mannequin. There could only be one person who would do something so vile. She ran to her balcony, kicked the mannequin away and screamed below her. "MINATO!!!" Surely enough, he was lounging against the railing of his own balcony, looking up with a smirk. "What's up?" His arrogance only pissed her off even more to the point when her face was completely flushed red with anger and embarrassment. She groaned and slapped her hands on the railing as Chiaki and Kaoru joined her in looking down. Similarly, Shusei joined Minato after hearing the screaming and shouting. "You BASTARD!! You're going to regret this!" At that moment, Akiyoshi from the window across Minato's growls to the group. "What's going on?!" Jess couldn't handle the added company to her embarrassment and decided to storm away from the balcony. She would have gone to the length of leaving the room before she realised it was hers. Instead she face planted into her pillow on her bed hoping to hide her reddened face from Kaoru and Chiaki. The two thought as much and excused themselves. Meanwhile, Jess considered her next course of action. The next few hours were bliss for Minato as he wandered the house in boastful victory. Now that he made a point that no one can cross him, he thought Jess would have learned her lesson. Thought. Minato had gone downstairs for a beer from the fridge before going back up the stairs to his room. Halfway up the stairs, Minato catches sight of a peculiar shadow. He stopped to analyse the shape of it but frowned as he couldn't figure it out. Taking a few more steps, the object from the shadow in question was in fact a blood red tricycle. His heart pace picked up to a mile a minute as he carried on to the very top of the stairs. He clenched his eyes shut in fear of what be in the corridor. He opened one eye but in the same moment, both of them shot open. Just outside of Akiyoshi's room were two identical twins, both in the same blue dresses. Minato was frozen; legs shaking. "Come play with us." Both of the twins said in monotone. "AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!" Minato threw himself down the stairs to get away as fast as he could. The twins looked at each other before smirking and heading upstairs. "What's wrong?" "T-t-t-twins! Two girls upstairs! Believe me!" Minato stumbled over his words while dragging Chiaki with him. Minato couldn't look but Chiaki did. He furrowed at the empty corridor. "Minato, there's no one there." Minato peeked over Chiaki's shoulder, shocked by the disappearance of the twins. He felt ridiculous for being so scared that his fear turned to rage quickly. He thought of his best bet and dragged Chiaki up to the second floor. The twins weren't there either but Minato knew they wouldn't be. Instead he hammered his fist onto Jess's door. After a good ten seconds of knocking, the door opened to a grinning Jess. "Ah! Minato, Chiaki, what brings you here?" She had the same smugness that Minato had after his last prank. "Thought I would check in. What're you doing alone in your room?" "Oh, I'm just spending time with my favourite nieces, Sofia and Olivia." She gestured to two twins who were back to different, modern clothes. Minato wanted to scream and shout but he had to keep his cool. Instead he said through gritted teeth, "Good to know. This isn't over I hope you know." He stormed downstairs leaving Chiaki with her. "Nicely done, Jess." He holds up a fist. "Thanks, Chiaki." She smirks as she returns his fist bump. Jess parted ways with her nieces after her sister, Amelia, picked them up. She spent most of the day in the game room with Shusei and Kaoru as the three alternate between games of pool. In their most recent game, Kaoru potted the black whilst Shusei still had four balls to pot. "Aw...honestly! When are you gonna let me win?" "You beat me all the time in Cabo." Kaoru shrugs as he hangs up his cue. "What's Cabo?" Jess asked and Shusei readily answered. "It's a card game. Each player gets four cards face down and the goal is to reduce the sum number of your cards. If you pick up a 7 or 8, you can look at one of your cards. If you pick up a 9 or 10, you can look at someone else's cards. Finally, if you pick up a Jack or a Queen, you can swap cards with someone. King is worth 0 and you can end the game on your turn once your happy with your cards." Jess loved card games and this one was new and intriguing to her. "I have a table and cards in my room. Do you guys want to play up there?" The two smiled in agreement and Jess lead the way to her room on the second floor. As they reached the bottom of the stairs, Minato was heading down. "Jess, can I just say... I'm sorry." Huh? "I just spoke to Chiaki and he warned me that I took it too far. Can we just let this go and let bygones be bygones?" She couldn't believe how mature he was being. She might actually be able to enjoy these few weeks left in the shared house after all. Gratefully, she smiled at Minato's new resolve. "Well, thank you, Minato. In fact, we're going upstairs to play cards. Would you like to join us?" "Lead the way." The four skip the steps two at a time as they head to Jess' room. She readily opened her door to her new friendship with Minato only to come face to face with a hanging Chucky doll holding a knife. "AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!" She jumps back and ends up falling on the floor, shaking. Minato bursts out with laughter to the point where he's clutching his stomach and slapping his knee. Chiaki from next door, opens his door to find everyone outside and Jess hugging her knees. None of the other guys were amused, instead they were fucking pissed. They themselves were getting fed up with these pranks and their screaming. Having thought that they were done with this, the trouble just continued. Jess shook with both terror and fury as she wasn't expecting it. It almost gave her a heart attack. Why was he still doing this? "Jess, are you okay?" Shusei asked as he nudged her shoulder slightly. Minato was still laughing like an idiot and this was when she decided she had had enough. "*sniff* I can't deal with this anymore. There's no way I'm putting up with this for the next three weeks! Are you happy now, Minato?!" Her voice rose with every word which threatened to break her voice. It was now that he fully looked at her; shaking, crying and miserable. She shoved past Minato with emphasis to get to the stairs but her path was blocked by a green apron. Her tear streaked face looked up to a concerned Akiyoshi. His eyes widened once he saw her and he too had had enough. He spun her around and gently motioned her forward using a hand on her back. He wasn't so gentle with Minato as he practically dragged him by his upper arm. Akiyoshi nudged Jess inside of her room but shoved Minato in too after taking the Chucky doll hanging from it's string. "You two can leave once you've worked things out!" He growls before slamming the door shut. Minato tested the doorknob to find it was locked as Jess huffed and flopped onto her bed face down. Well this isn't awkward! "Umm... Jess?" "What?" She muffled in her pillow. "I really did take it too far now, didn't I?" She turned towards him as he awkwardly stood by the door on the opposite side of the room. "Geez, you think!" Perhaps he was pushing his luck to join her on the bed after he almost gave her a heart attack. Keeping his distance in case she had decided to strangle him, he sat at the very end. "I'm sorry, Jess. Genuinely this time. It's just things didn't turn out like I'd planned." "Things? What things?" Sitting up properly, she faced him with her back against the headrest. "Well, do you remember your first day joining Seasonelle? You forgot your ID. Your clumsy introduction. You spilt coffee on the both of us." He reminisced thoughtfully. "You got so flustered I thought you were really adorable. I just teased you for the sake of seeing you flustered." The revelation hit Jess like a bus. "You like me?" "Yeah! A lot! Why else would I tease you so often?" "To piss me off because you thought it was funny? Because you hate me? Some third reason?" "You really don't understand men, do you?" "No! I don't!" Even seeing her exasperated now made his heart flutter. "If anyone asks you about your day, do you say that a coworker of yours has been pranking you?" 'All the time,' she thought. In fact she couldn't remember a time when she didn't talk to Tam about Minato. Either Jess would bring him up or Tam would. "So you tell people about me." Minato smirks teasingly. "Well, when I talk about you, I tend to use some pretty colourful language." "Yeah, but you still talk about me. Do you talk about the other guys?" If she was being honest she rarely mentioned the others. Maybe once or twice but putting those times together would be no where near as many times as Minato came up in conversation. "...sure." "You're lying." He sang crawling towards her on the bed but she huffed and turned away with reddened cheeks. "Whatever... Can I just say though? Your technique could use a little work." "I didn't think you would retaliate like that and use my weakness against me." "Yeah... I'm sorry about that by the way." They were both a little shy but it wasn't uncomfortable. Deep down, Minato was a little nervous but he had to say this eventually. "So, now we're on a clean slate, will you consider what I told you earlier?" He avoided her gaze. Was this supposed to be his way of asking her out? "Well... Since we're on a clean slate, why not?" They finally made proper eye contact and smiled shyly. "It was interesting watching you scream like a girl though." Jess said with sudden confidence. Minato scowled. "It was a very masculine scream thank you very much!" He wrestled her teasingly which left her in fits of laughter. Minato's lock on her turned into a cuddle. "... Should I call chief to let us out now?" "Alright." One call later and the guys were there to unlock the door. They took their time to make sure Jess was alright while Minato went ahead because he was starving. As soon as he turned the corner, he screamed and ran but up to Jess' room. The guys and Jess turned to the stairs to see Ghostface from scream by the stairs. Before they could react themselves, the mask was removed and Akiyoshi was behind it with a childish grin. "I had to alright. It's what he gets after messing with our girl." She grinned gleefully at their antics. It was rare to see the chief so relaxed. "Thanks, guys." ------------- Hello, my sweeties! 😊 Hope you liked this. I always worry whether my stories are good enough so I hope you like it. Honestly, I'm a slow writer 😞 finally on break for ten days off school. I can finally get back to writing for a bit. Including non voltage stories, I found out I have 26 unfinished stories that I've started. Damn. Thanks for reading! 😋
Let Me Convince You Otherwise
Authors Note: Hi all. I’d like to introduce myself as I am new to this. This is the first story that I have written and I would love to get your feedback. I would like to know what you think, how you liked it, and maybe what I should improve on - if that’s not asking too much. You are able to get a pretty good idea of what my writing style is like from this piece. This bit features Akiyoshi x MC. I hope you all enjoy this little story.
“Hey,”
“Mmm?” I curtly replied as I pushed my breakfast around on my plate. I had yet to find my appetite this morning.
“What’s wrong?” He spoke carefully, his tone at almost a whisper. I set my fork down as my gaze met his. I could see the worry the loitered in his eyes as he patiently waited for my response. I knew he was expecting me to put up a fight as I always did when he brought this up. A bit of hope flowed through his body, hoping that maybe I would have a civil conversation with him for once. Well, he was wrong. My gaze turned cold.
“You already know what’s wrong,” I spat. The worry never left his eyes as we sat in a moment of palpable silence. I could almost hear his hope shattering as he internally fought to hold on to whatever piece of it he could. We have had this conversation a lot the past few weeks and every time it ended the same way. No matter what I said or what I did, we would never see eye to eye.
“I want some eventually. I just don’t think that now is the right time. With work and the wedding… Why can’t we wait a few years for when we’re both ready?”
“Because if we wait until we’re ready, we’ll never have any!” My words came out like ice. My voice began to slightly raise. I watched as the worry in his face twisted into frustration. His hope now slipped from his reach as it disappeared. I sat up straighter as I prepared myself for this morning argument.
“Come on, seriously? I don’t know why you’re all of a sudden in this huge rush to get pregnant and start our family. Think this through for a second and use that damn head of yours!” He shouted back.
“Do you not think that I haven’t thought this through? For someone who likes to think they’re so smart, maybe you should use that ‘damn head of yours’!” I mocked him as my heart began to race. Many of our afternoons at home were now spent like this. The two of us unwilling to accept the others valid points and us trying to fight to change a mind we know we could never change. Akiyoshi rolled his eyes. He didn’t prefer to start his mornings like this and I knew that. Recently, I’ve been finding it hard to keep my emotions in check. I found it hard not to explode on him for every comment he made at home or in the office. It frustrated me too. I’d rather spend my time wrapped in his arms and lounging around the house, but instead, we have this.
“If you weren’t so bullheaded, maybe you’d be able to see my side of things,”
“I do understand your side. It’s you who doesn’t see mine!”
“I’m not ready for a baby! Okay? I don’t want to have kids right now! We haven’t even told the guys about our relationship yet!” He had also lost his patience at this point. He threw his fork down at his plate and folded his arms across his chest. This maybe would have intimidated me if I didn’t know he had a tender soul and cried during animal documentaries.
“Well then, we’ll tell them,”
“Yes, eventually. There’s a time for everything, but now is not a good time for either of those things,”
“I think it’s time for both, actually. I don’t thi- “
“No! No baby! Just accept it, okay? Can’t we just have one meal without you doing this?” His eyebrows furrowed as his low growl echoed off of the walls of the house. I knew that this tone meant that he meant what he said. After his outburst, the room once again filled with silence. We never broke eye contact as I spoke.
“I can’t accept that,” As if almost defeated, my weary voice came out quiet, like it was trying not to disturb the silence that welcomed itself into our home. I was frustrated and honestly, I was hurt. I clenched my jaw together as I tried to fight the tears that threatened to fall. Akiyoshi was taken aback by the sudden quietness of my voice, I could see it on his face. He knew that if he said anything more, he would end up pushing me over the edge. Breaking the eye contact, I looked down, struggling to not trip over the edge he pushed me so close to. I could feel his gaze that rested upon me. He again waited patiently as he watched to see what my next move was. A dense silence continued to fill the room as I stared at my uneaten breakfast.
I pushed my seat back as I stood up. Frustration took over me as I lost the battle to hold my tears back. I let out an involuntary sob as the tears began to stream down my flushed cheeks.
“Hey, babe. No, please come back here. I’m sorry,” Done with the conversation, I decided to head to work early. Walking towards the hallway, he gently called after me. I heard the squeak of his chair scooting back as he followed me, stopping to stand in the entry way. I knew exactly how he felt about this, but it got to me every time. We were two thick skulled people, unwilling to change our opinions to support the other. “Where are you going to go?” He asked, already knowing the answer.
“Away from you,” I said in between sobs.
“You can’t leave for work yet. You’ll be over an hour early,” He moved in closer. His voice was soft as he tried to make up before I stormed out of the house. I stood to face him. I knew that he really cared and I knew that he hated leaving things unfinished like this. He had a personal rule that he tried to follow: Never go to bed angry and to never leave the house mad. Unfortunately, today he wasn’t going to be able to abide by that rule. “Hey, please,” He opened his arms as he came to comfort me with a heartfelt embrace.
“Don’t,” I pushed him away as he came in closer. I couldn’t push it aside this time. I couldn’t make up or let it go. I could see that I hurt him too. We were both guilty of not being able to control our tempers until things got too far out of hand. I wiped my cheeks dry for a moment as I grabbed my purse and keys.
“Please don’t do this, this morning. At least leave the house with me,” Leaving together was something he almost never offered to do. I knew he was really trying. I wasn’t trying to forgive him this morning or tie up any loose ends, I was only trying to put space between us so we both had a chance to think and calm down. Being away from him was what I thought I needed at the moment. I couldn’t think clearly, my thoughts and logic covered by a mass of gray storm clouds. I walked out of the house without saying anything more. I stood by the front door for a moment before I closed it with a slam behind me and walked away. “Damnit!” I could hear the frustration in his voice that made its way through the door.
I cried almost the entire way to the office. I didn’t care about the side glances that I received or care about the whispers being spoken behind my back. I desperately tried to compose myself before stepping foot into the office. I knew that there was no way I could hide the fact that I’ve been crying, my puffy eyes and the sulky frown I couldn’t wipe off of my face told the whole story. If I just threw myself into my work, maybe nobody would ask me about it. As I walked into my new department, I saw Ayame sitting in his office. I could tell that he arrived only minutes before I did since he was still removing his jacket and starting his computer. I decided to do the same, hoping that I could go another moment without notice. Unfortunately, he caught my eye before I was even able to sit down.
“Ah, what a pleasant surprise to see you so eager to work this morning,” He casually greeted as he walked over to my desk. I gave him a smile, hoping to ward him off but he didn’t buy it. I knew he could see the sadness that masked itself over.
“Morning Ayame,” My voice cracked as I casted my greeting to him.
“To see such a beautiful woman filled with such a deep sadness, what a shame. What’s wrong?” His voice became softer as he asked the reasons for my being.
“Nothing major. Just a bad morning is all,” I lied. My heart was actually broken, torn in two and I had no desire to be here. My stubborn being wanted to fight off everyone who looked at me the wrong way. Ayame decided not to prod me any further, knowing if I wanted to talk about it, that I would have done so. He patted me on the back as he left the office department. This was his way of showing that he cared. As I promised myself, I threw myself into my work. I sulked, finding it hard to keep my mind off of this morning’s events.
“Hey, hello? Are you listening?” A familiar voice broke through my line of thought. I turned to see who it was and saw Minato standing next to my desk.
“Oh, sorry. I was lost in thought,” I didn’t notice when everyone else piled into the office either. When I looked up, I saw Tsumugu sitting in Ayame’s office, probably going over his current case assignment. The time on the clock said it was almost past one.
“Yeah, dopey. I’ve been calling your name for five minutes now. Akiyoshi wants you to bring those documents about the baseball scam to him,” I took a file from my desk and handed it to him. He put his hands up and shook his head, refusing to grab the file. “Hey, I have an interview I’m heading out to. You’ll have to deliver those yourself,” His remake was filled with an underline of sass.
“Great,” I mumbled under my breath as I turned back to my computer to finish typing the sentence I was on. Minato silently walked out of the office before I had a chance to stand up from my chair. It seemed as though he was also in a bad mood. I wondered why before I let the thought slide. I swooped the file off of my desk and marched down to Seasonelle. As I entered the department, I was greeted by Shusei, who had a smile plastered on his face as always.
“Hey, long time no see! To what do we owe the pleasure?” He called out.
“I’m just dropping off some documents to Akiyoshi,” Shusei lost his smile when I brought up his name.
“He’s been in a bad mood all morning,” He mentioned in a quiet voice as if trying to hide his thoughts from Akiyoshi.
“Yeah, he’s been growling at us non-stop since the minute he walked through the door,” Kaoru chipped in, peering over his computer. Chiaki nodded his head in agreement. I guess I’m to blame for that. I shrugged, as the thought went through my mind. I walked over to his office door and knocked twice.
“Come in,” A muffled voice called from inside. I opened the door as I walked in. He leaned back in his chair, placing his pen down on his desk once he saw it was me. “Do you have those documents that I asked for?” His tone was harsh, taking this morning’s frustrations out on me. I held them up before throwing them on his desk, refusing to directly hand them to him. My actions matching the same coldness in his voice. He looked at the documents that laid scattered across his now messy desk, spilling out of the file. “Don’t forget that I’m your superior here,” He Growled.
“Don’t forget that you're sleeping out on the couch tonight,” I spat matter-of-factly in his face. His eyes immediately left mine to look behind me through the still opened door. He stood up as he watched to see if anyone overheard. He heaved a heavy sigh as he walked around his desk towards me, keeping a respectable distance since we were still at work. He quietly shut the door.
“I’m tired of this. It’s so damn frustrating. Please, tell me how we can fix this,” He spoke in a whisper, trying to keep his voice down as if to not raise any commotion. I saw the desperation that laid on his face. To be honest, I was tired of it too, but I wasn’t about to give up my position on the subject.
“You already know the answer to that,” I spoke in the same hushed tone that he used.
“Without doing that. Isn’t there a way we can meet in the middle? Like adopting a dog or something?”
“No,”
“Why not?”
“Because, Aki, a baby,” I rubbed my belly as I spoke. He looked down at my stomach as I did. His eyes following the circular motions I made.
“No,”
“I know you don’t want one but It’s going to happen sooner than you think,”
“No, It’s not,” He denied, becoming visibly irritated again. He tried to keep his voice hushed but his aggravation won the best of him. “I don’t care what you say, it’s not happening,” I knew his voice could now be heard through the door. The sudden raise of his voice probably started to grab the attention of the few left in the office. I knew this wasn’t a conversation to be having here, but we both had a hard time holding our tongues.
“Yes,” I pleaded.
“No!” He shouted.
“You say you want to work things out but you never listen to what I have to say!” I began to raise my voice to match his. Knowing full well that this conversation was meant to be had at a different time. I could imagine the confused looks that they were probably sharing with each other to the sounds of our muffled yelling.
“That’s because you say the same damn thing over and over again!”
“I just want you to accept it, that’s why,”
“That’s what you keep saying, but I don’t know what that means. What. Do. You. Mean.?” Each word being over emphasized. The anger rang clearly through his voice.
“I want you to accept this,” I could feel the tears that began to well up in my eyes as I continued to shout back my response, pointing at my stomach.
“Accept this? You are unbelievable. You’re talking crazy,” I knew he took that the wrong way. He threw his hands in the air, turning away from me for a brief moment.
“Now you’re calling me crazy?”
“No, that’s not wha- stop putting words in my mouth!” His eyes glared daggers through me.
“You know what? I’m done,” My voice beginning to quiver. Weak and emotional, the tears once again raced down my face. A moment of silence filled his office before he spoke.
“This always ends the same way. You get hurt then cry and I end up confused and frustrated. We have to quit doing this,” He lowered his voice once again, trying to bring it to become a civil conversation.
“Fine. Then I guess were over,” I couldn’t contain my sobs any longer. My feelings hurt and my heart was exasperated. Akiyoshi stood there in silence, completely frozen to his spot. His eyes wide in disbelief. I could see that my words played through his mind numerous times as he tried to figure out if he heard me correctly. He was at a loss for words. He opened his mouth to speak before closing it once again. My cries becoming louder as I wept harder. I reached for the door, opening it in one swift motion before walking out of his office. I could feel the stares from the guys as they quietly questioned what all the chaos was about.
“Hey! W-Wait a second,” He rushed out of his office as he called to me. I could hear the panic that layered his voice. That was something that I’ve only ever heard once before. The usually cool editor-in-chief was starting to lose himself. I ignored his plea as I walked towards the hallway, about to leave the department. “Ple-Please, wait,” He called out again. His voice becoming even more distressed. This was something that I’ve never heard before. I like to think that’s why I stopped and turned around. He was hurting. I could see it clearly painted on his face. He was on the edge of a breakdown. “Please, I know we can work something out,” He said as if almost holding back tears of his own.
“I’m not getting a dog, Aki,” Tears still rolling down my burning cheeks.
“Can’t we wait until after the wedding, then?” He tried reasoning with me. Knowing that if he didn’t he was going to lose me.
“No, we can’t,”
“Why?” He continued to question.
“Because I’m pregnant,” I bluntly stated. I watched his face as all emotions drained from it. For the second time in a brief period, he was once again left speechless. He placed one of his hands over his mouth as he casted down his gaze.
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Because I asked you about it and you said you weren’t ready. I wanted you to be ready when I told you because I wanted you to be as excited as I was,”
“That explains a lot,” His eyes were still cast towards the ground as he spoke. His hand never leaving its place at his mouth. “How long have you known?”
“Almost two months,” The tears still streaming down my face. “I’m sorry. I guess that’s two things you have to be ready for,” He lifted his head up. His eyes first landing on my stomach before casting his glance around the room, catching the wondering gazes of his employees. He gently grabbed my hand as he pulled me into his arms. His chin resting upon my head as I listened to the quick rhythm of his heartbeat. I closed my eyes as I accepted his embrace. I longed for this moment for many weeks and I knew he missed the closeness we once shared. I knew he was always confused when I pushed him away.
“You were right, it was time to tell them anyways,” He moved his lips to my hair, letting them rest there as he tried to collect himself. “I love you,”
“I love you too,”
