👔👙🪞🖤✨
I don't know if I'll leave these sketches like this or define them better...I'm reflecting.
After making an illustration that celebrates body positivity and freedom of expression I had to somehow reconnect with Adachi and how he is the exact opposite 😅 :
I think all his doubts and considerations about himself were buried by the incessant hours of study. The non-existent interactions he had with his peers didn't give him the opportunity to reflect on them or be rejected or criticized (convenient in order not to falter and follow this lonely path).
As long as Adachi was successful and continues to climb up, any doubts had no validity because 'I'm winning'
I am convinced that he tried to have relationships or went to certain clubs to satisfy his urges because it is one of his main themes in the game (for me Adachi is not a virgin lol). And when he reached his elite job position, why would he still hold back? He had studied incessantly, he had obtained his much desired position, now he had the right to have everything he wanted, right? (no🤣)
But with his social inexperience and stereotyped beliefs about men and women, relationships and everything else...things couldn't end well. As long as it's just sex or superficial dating? everything's ok. But when do you start to get to know each other better?
😬
It's not that I want to justify Adachi in any way but...if you have never confronted with someone else, had friendships (both with men and women) your vision becomes increasingly narrow and your character more abrasive than ever.
You just think you're right about everything and it's other people who are stupid (😀)
Kubo is an extreme example of how Adachi could have end up, not being disciplined and studious btw (but Kubo didn't have the same kind of parents that Adachi had so...there's always some more food for thought 🤔)
The women's rejections come from them being 'stupid bitches' not because there was anything wrong with Adachi. He's the 'perfect man' for society, he did everything that was required by society to be a successful citizen so it was definitely not his fault (😀👍🏻✨)
But when he was demoted and transferred to Inaba this certainty disappeared and the doubts resurfaced one after another.
There is no certainty that your effort will be rewarded.
And if you are not good-looking, talented and charismatic it is impossible to succeed in work and relationships.
At 27, he no longer had any hope for anything. From the beginning he lacked what was necessary.
Adachi began to hate the world and himself until he reached a stage of 'enlightened resignation' especially once he had been 'chosen' by God.
Aside from the crimes he committed and the thought that he didn't 'deserve' the affection that the Dojima family (I also include Yu in this) genuinely offered him...it's the belief that it's impossible to be loved that makes it easier for him to reject their bond.
'I have nothing lovable. You're lying. What do you really want from me?'
He also doesn't want to be hurt any more than this. Adachi cannot and does not want to bear it.
(🥲)
Coming back to the initial point, Adachi finds Dojima more tolerable than Yu because although he embodies the figure of the virile, loved and well-liked man...he has his flaws and Adachi is the one who knows them best of all. He should hate him but...his rude genuineness, his opening up only to him have won him over (🤭✨)
Yu, on the other hand, is much more difficult to accept because...he's perfect. In everything, he has no visible flaws, is talented, good-looking, popular and has a bright future ahead of him. He embodies everything he is not and should have been to be successful and happy.
I find all the 'girlfail' sides of Adachi very cute and endearing 💖, but for him they are all disgusting flaws.
He was supposed to be the classic 'Alpha male' but he isn't at all. Compared to Dojima and Yu he feels even more at fault but...the two of them appreciate him for how he is now. They only knew this Adachi. An Adachi without 'future and success'.
The Dojima family 'inexplicably' loves him (🥺)
There is again a new conflict between how he believes the world works (and people work) and how it actually works.
(This all stemmed from Adachi in lingerie btw😀👍🏻✨)
Enough, I've already talked too much for today and it's not even lunch time asfgddgjjfyeyjduk
