Chinese Finger Painting

Traditional Chinese finger painting uses the tips of the fingers and the nail instead of a brush to paint on surfaces. This style of painting offers a spontaneous and somewhat impressionistic presentation. The painting shown from the early 20th century is drawn from our Tse-Tsung Chow Collection of Chinese Scrolls and Fan Paintings. It appears to depict a rather animated discussion over a picnic meal. The title doesn't help much, it simply notes that this is Fushan Lu's figure finger painting executed in winter.

We know quite a bit about many of the artists in our Chinese calligraphy and painting collection, but we know nothing about Fushan Lu, whose art name is Shouyan. Still, he seems to be a very accomplished finger painter. There are three Chinese seals or chops, one for Fushan Lu, another for Shouyan, and the third for the collector, Zhou Cezong (i.e., Tse Tsung Chow).

I mean for sure one can argue that gujin punishing ahyin was for the greater good because it made no sense to everyone else why he wouldn't. him just saying he believes her wasn't enough to satisfy the public like I get that and logically, gujin would not have killed ahyin if he knew that's what he was doing... his intention was never to kill her but him thinking "I'll have to destroy the one place that she sought after and fought for literally her whole life, but I'll explain to her why when we get home" COME AWWWWWWWWWWWNNNN!!!!!! how would you expect her to forgive you after that. that's the whole point I guess but there's a preview where phoenix is speaking to gujin. she says something regarding ahyin's story that upsets him and he's like "no matter who you are, you don't have the right to speak about ahyin in that way" and phoenix basically says "If you loved her as much as you say you do, then where were you when she died?" questioning where was he when she needed him the most, and what right HE has to get upset now. she's right about that. I don't even hate gujin but ahyin literally did not have to go through hell and back MULTIPLE times and doubt what she meant to him, and be confused about their relationship and then DIE BY HIS HANDS. I don't even hate gujin like when he cries or is visibly very sad, I feel bad for him but when shouyan said "albeit short, ahyin lived a life much more brazen and bright than all of you. she loved deeply, and left proudly. If she never met you, she may not have had to suffer so much. when she was alive, you didn't cherish her and now she's gone for what purpose do you have behaving like this?" I was like GET HIM!!!!!!!!!
