pessimistically, how things are now, each of the remaining League seemed to have met their appropriate fate given their crimes
Dabi: burned to a crisp
Toga: major blood loss
Spinner: brain damage
Shigaraki: disintegrated
though they've been given a measure of relief and peace ("saved") before they were done. Still, they're defeated and gone, so there's no need bring them back. Pessimistically, it's very possible that all heroes need to do is defeat AFO by themselves and that's that. Loose ends all tied up.

YOU’LL SEE ME IN HINDSIGHT
touya todoroki x reader
you spend one last night with your husband before he goes to battle shouto and endeavour.
angst/smut, mha official ending spoilers
part 1/3
inspired by wildest dreams
Tumblr media
2 years of hiding. 2 years of silence. 2 years of putting the outside world on pause. 2 years of bliss.
to fall of the face of the earth with your beloved was possibly the most romantic thing you could have ever experienced. you existed in your own snow globe, dancing in circles round and round shielded from the outside world. but you both knew it wouldn’t be forever.
you had a quiet house on the countryside, surrounded by gorgeous acres of land. for you and touya, it seemed much to large for both of you. but acres of nature’s serene solitude provided the two of you enough time to escape from the world. you, at least, wanted to escape. for touya, it was more like purgatory. this is where he spent his time before death.
the backyard was perhaps your favourite part. you sat on the old wooden steps on the porch, eyeing the lush vegetation that seemed to thrive despite the ever-increasing fleetingness of the moment. soon, no one would pick the peaches from the trees, or harvest the sweet strawberries from the bushes. no one would admire the flowers that grew for miles or the sweet smell of life. no one would ever see the beauty of the land that touya todoroki loved you on.
you hear his creaky footsteps come up behind you, watching you as you watch the world- like you are his world. for a moment, he sees nothing.
“the magnolias.” words finally escape your lips.
“hm? whats that doll?” he asks.
you take a deep breath, prying your eyes away from the garden and finally turning to face your lover. your hand raises to point at the delicate white petals bundled together like a stanza.
“those ones over there. magnolias. they smell the sweetest.”
his blue eyes follow over to where you point as he sits down next to you. he simply nods, looking at the flowers you told him smelled the best.
a thought crosses your mind. you overheard him talking it over with shigaraki. you knew what tomorrow was. yet you were hesitant to let the words leave your mouth. you didn’t even want to dare it.
“…you know you’re going to die, right?”
the words leave your tongue like a curse.
at first, he looks over at you, bewildered by the statement. but touya isn’t dumb- he knows you can pick up on things. and he knows he isn’t dumb enough to wanna lie to you- though admittedly the lie is better. the lie is so much more comforting in this instance.
“…i know, doll.” touya tells the truth.
you don’t say anything, but your silence is perhaps the loudest thing he’s heard all day.
“its too late to give up on it now.” he says it like he’s trying to salvage it. as if theres any way to fix all the pain he hasn’t even caused you yet. he knows your grief is only inevitable.
“…thought so.” you sigh, getting up from the creaky wooden steps and moving back into your home. its a home that you and touya have built together. dirty rugs with tracks stained from his large black boots. your coat and his hanging from the door, his so much darker and larger than yours. the dirty bowls in the sink you have yet to wash, leftover from soba night. the memories, the dreams, the love. the world was about to see dabi, but for two years you got to love touya.
so many memories were suddenly engulfed in fire. dancing barefoot in the kitchen, trying on his coat that reached the floor on your frame, hugging him and feeling the warmth only he could give you. all of it was soon to be ash.
he follows you into the house, watching as you move about. he’s silent, since words always seemed to fail him when it came to you. theres a heavy tension that lingered in the house. soon, this wouldn’t be yours and touya’s home. soon, these walls would be haunted. soon, this would no longer be a home.
“you know theres no way you’re getting out of this alive, right?” you ask as if to confirm your worst fears. funny, since you already knew the answer.
“…as long as i take that old bastard down with me.” touya says, a familiar flicker of revenge ruminating in his brilliant turquoise eyes. perhaps love wasn’t meant to end suffering, after all.
and thats enough to make your voice resonate with that familiar crack of anguish.
“…what about me, touya..?”
he winces. he expected you to yell, to scream at him. to tell him how much of an asshole he is. how much you hate him. somehow, your strangled, quiet cry hurts more.
“you… you’ll be fine. you manage.” he’s lying through his teeth and you both know it.
what else could you say?
you turned away from him, walking upstairs to your bedroom. this was the room you loved the most. so many late nights and sunny, early mornings. god, getting to see him all tuckered out from the previous night, the deepest morning voice you have ever heard. his cheeky remarks, half lidded blue eyes looking into you. the way he pulls you back into bed, asking where the hell you think you’re going. all of that love was packing its bags and moving on.
he follows you again, not knowing what else to say but not wanting the conversation to end either. maybe he just didn’t want you and him to end, despite the fact that neither of you had a choice.
“i was never apart of your plan, was i?” your voice cracks again, asking him to confirm your deepest hurt. you knew it to be true. loving you was never something touya ever intended on doing. yet he stayed.
he only sighs, trying to find the right words. “i’m sorry. i never meant to drag you into this-“
“don’t be.” you quickly cut him off once you realize he’s not denying anything.
touya was a man of promises. he knows that he’s made a vow. a vow to bring endeavour down, to expose him for all the suffering he’s condemned him to. to show his father that he was the worst thing to ever happen to the flame hero. he branded that promise deep into his heart, and he had 0 intentions of letting it up now.
not even for you.
the sound of cooing causes both of you to stare out the window. there, perched on the window sill, are two doves- happily chirping to one another, unbeknownst of the pain just lurking behind the glass.
“you know, doves mate for life.” you say, looking at the smaller one nestling into the snow white feathers of its much larger companion.
“kind of romantic, isn’t it?” touya shrugs, also noting the way the two birds hold onto each other like nothing else matters. even with the ability to fly, to sore the sky and see the stars up close, the two birds loved each other like none of that was even remotely interesting.
“it is romantic.” you agree. “loving each other for the rest of their lives. even if that life is short.”
he quickly catches on.
touya swore he’d love you for the rest of his life. even if that life was too short for him.
touya watches the birds alongside you, their delicate, graceful forms seeming to symbolize something more than just a couple of birds resting on a window sill. they continue to coo quietly to each other, cuddling and nuzzling against each other, completely at ease and content with the love they’d found.
after a moment of silence, touya speaks up, his voice quiet and hesitant.
"you know i don’t want to leave you, right?”
wanting seemed irrelevant, here. it didn’t matter what you or touya wanted. fate was decided, against what either of you want.
“i know.” you say, solemnly. you rest your hands on touya’s side of the dresser, like a wounded soldier hanging his head low. your heart was hurting. by this time tomorrow, he’d be gone. the love of your life would be gone.
for a second, touya is lost in his own world of hate. he hates himself, more than he’s hated anyone in his entire life. he hates himself for letting you love him. he hates himself for having to leave you here, all alone, safe and stranded.
he’s then pulled out of his trance when he sees you in his drawer, holding the ring he’s kept hidden from you for months. a beautiful, silver ring with a sapphire as deep as the blue sea. alongside is his ring, just a simple, silver band. he mentally curses himself for not hiding it well enough.
his heart beats out of his chest, watching you slowly turn to him, holding the ring.
“you remembered i like sapphires.” you say, not a question but a statement. of course he remembered your favourite gemstone. touya remembered every little thing he loves about you.
“yeah… course i did, doll.” he says, as if its obvious he remembered.
he wishes he could actually cry when he sees you slip it onto your left ring finger. god, it fits you perfectly. his eyes remain mesmerized as you flex your fingers, seeing how it looks on you.
you legs carry you over to him, pulling him in close. you rest your hands on his chest and your forehead against his. touya’s scarred hands find their way to your waist, drawing you in as if to shield you from all the heartache thats to come.
“you know we can’t actually get married, right?” you dryly chuckle, your voice barely a whisper. “especially not legally.”
he hums in response. he’s well aware you two could never go down to a courthouse and officially commit to one another. “you think i care ‘bout that?” he manages a smirk. “i still wanna marry you. even if its just between us.”
“so, you’re really gonna turn me into a widow tomorrow hm?” you ask.
his blue eyes flicker down to your ring, his brain still unable to compute that its real. “i guess so.”
you smile, though theres an undeniable hint of sadness in your eyes that touya knows all too well.
“i know you don’t wanna leave me, touya.” you whisper, looking into his eyes, staring into his soul.
he physically feels his heart clench at your words. and at the look in your eyes, he feels a wave of emotion wash over him. he wants to reach out and take you into his arms, to hold you tight and never let go. but he can’t. he has to stay strong, no matter how weak you make his resolve.
“i.. i know i don’t want to leave you, i don’t want to leave you behind. but i have to. i have to do this. i have to take him down.” he says, gritting his teeth at the thought of that bastard.
“i hope you do.” you encourage. “fuck that guy.”
touya almost laughs at this, pressing his forehead against yours. “yeah. fuck that guy.”
“i… i hate him. i hate him for doing this to you. for turning you into this. for taking you away from me. from what we could have had.” you can’t help the tear that falls from your eye just thinking about it, thinking about what you lost. the husband you could have had, the kids, the future… all of that could only live on in your dreams, now.
touya’s eyes widen in surprise and pain at your words. he honestly hadn't thought about it like that before, hadn't considered how endeavour’s actions had impacted you, too. he knew that his hatred and need for revenge had caused a rift between the two of you, but hearing you say it out loud, seeing the pain in your eyes, it cuts straight to his heart.
he looks at you, his expression torn between anger and guilt.
"i’m sorry. i’m sorry I've put you through all this, doll. i’m sorry i let my anger and hate consume me. its all i know.” he says, closing his eyes. he can’t bare to watch you cry over something as pathetic as him.
“i… i think you’re a murderer. and a villain. touya.” you seethe. and he accepts that hatred from you, because he doesn’t deserve anything more or less.
“and i also think you’re a deeply traumatized person who was stuck as a kid who feels like nothing but a failure after, being in a 3 year coma.” you conclude your true feelings. he doesn’t say anything to that for a moment.
he knew that you saw him for what he was- a killer, a villain, a monster. but hearing you say it out loud, hearing you sum up his entire life, stung.
he tightens his grip on your hips, his fingers digging into your flesh slightly as he struggles to keep his emotions in check. he keeps his eyes averted, unable to meet your gaze.
“i know what i am. what I’ve become. i don’t know what else to do.” he says, defeated, like the end of a long battle.
“can you love me? is that an option?” your question is more of a plea than anything else. finally, he looks you in the eye, as if the answer to that question is obvious.
“you’re the only thing i think i’m capable of loving.” he admits, more to himself than to you.
“you’re the only thing thats made my life worth living. and im so fucking grateful. for you. and your love.” the way he says it like a goodbye hurts all too much. but its words you need to hear. making him feel love was an absolute honour.
you pull him close to you, wrapping your arms around his neck desperately. oh, to memorize the feeling of his body against yours as his strong arms circle your waist, pulling you up to match his taller frame.
“you’re the best i’ve ever loved.” you say.
“you’re the only thing i’ve ever loved.” he confirms.
“then spend one last night with me. as your wife. whatever you do in the morning is up to you, i don’t care, but just give this night to us.” he can’t deny the way you beg him- even though you don’t even have to ask. he was already planning on it, visualizing all the ways he was going to physically show you he loves you in the bed tonight. but he needs to make sure, first.
“are you sure you want that, doll? one last night?”
“what i want is forever, touya.” you clarify. “but if i can have just one last night, i think we can make it work.”
and once he’s gotten your consent, the rest of the night is set.
✧.* ⋆.˚ ☾ .⭒˚ ✧.* ✧.* ⋆.˚ ☾ .⭒˚ ✧.* ✧.* ⋆.˚ ☾ .⭒˚ ✧.* ✧.* ⋆.˚
most think that guys can only fuck or make love- but touya gave you both and everything in between that night.
the way his hands roamed over every inch of your body like he was trying to etch himself onto you. god, the way his cock slid in and out of you at an unreasonably fast pace. he can’t help that he wants you, that he wants to be the only guy to ever throw you onto the mattress and fuck you till your absolutely spent all over him.
“fuck. yeah? ya like that doll?” he groans into your ear, the filthy sounds of skin slapping together filling the room. “gonna fuck you so good. god, your pussy is so fucking good.”
he has you on your back, turquoise eyes drinking in the way your eyes roll to the back of your skull. to say it looked absolutely filthy was an understatement, but to you two and just you two, this was how you showed love. touya was never a man of words- sure, he could tell you that he loves you, that he wants you, and that he doesn’t want to leave you, but you both already know that. so he lets his actions speak for him: spreading your legs to opposite sides of the room, playing with your pussy until your absolutely gushing, and not even daring to stop even when you can barely form a coherent sentence. he loves how he gets you like this. because he fucks you until your sobbing- partly from the mind melting pleasure, and partly from the fact that you know you’ll never find a cock this good ever again.
and touya’s not usually a huge biter or a kissed, but god, does he go crazy over the way you scream when he sinks his teeth in. and he won’t stop at a few nicks- you’re funny. the way he loved you is agonizing. loving you manifests as an all-consuming entity. he’s driven wild by the pleasure, and he wishes he could just have you whole right now.
if theres one thing you learned from loving touya, its that the idea of love being just a feeling, a simple chemical in the brain, was simply incorrect. no. love is not a feeling. love cannot be summed up into a simple 7 letter word. love took over your senses, the sight, the ears, the touch, the smell and especially the taste. you honestly wished touya would just consume you. and not just for lust or for petty desires. you wished to become a part of him. he wanted to taste your flesh against his lips like it was god damn salvation. let his being be apart of yours as his lips bless your skin, begging for another bite. let him feel something that is so wrong yet so right. let him want something that feels too good to be true. because its him. god, the way he loves you as if he’s savouring the rhythm of your heart- only he makes it beat that way. he watches, absolutely mesmerized as your fluids drip down your thighs, watching how he makes you melt. in the end, the two of you are reduced to nothing but empty space. because you were touya’s favourite part of himself.
you scream his name until his throat runs dry, as he continuously chases the feeling of your velvet walls clenching around his cock. god, the way he feels when your nipples slide over his pecs. how you scratch down hid back, how he actively has to keep his quirk in check as not to burn you- not that you’d mind a brand in the shape of his hand. he’s already left his fingerprints all over you, anyway.
“p-please! ah! don’t stop!” you moan for probably the 100th time. not that touya’s complaining, he loves your desperate side. he loves that he’s the one who can coax it out of you.
you’ve lost track of how many times you’ve come. from his fingers, to his mouth, to his cock that felt like it was shaped especially for you. your thighs tremble around his waist desperately, begging him to pull yet another orgasm out of you. and touya happily obliges. he loves to fuck you till all you can think of is him.
he can feel himself unraveling, wanting nothing more than to see his cum dripping down your beautiful pussy. he knows that this is the last chance he’ll have to take you like this. and when you arch your back and scream ‘TOUYA!’ at the top of your lungs, he loses it.
the groan he lets out in your ear as he finally releases himself into you is mouthwatering. warm, thick, ropes of his seed stuffing you to the absolute brim. you feel your toes curl and your mind blank, only being able to focus on the sensation of his love melting away every single worry or doubt in your mind. the way the sweat from his and your body forces you two to stick together as he holds you against him, helping you come down from the intense high.
his body collapses down beside you, mustering all his leftover energy to pull you closer to him. he pulls the blanket over you and him, like cementing his rightful place next to you, holding you in his arms.
“could lay here with you forever.” he utters, somewhat hoping you won’t catch what he says.
“i wish you would.” of course you catch on.
he pulls back slightly to look you in the eye. having you here, hair sprawled out, in his arms. you’re covered in the evidence of him like your a crime scene- his favourite crime at that.
his heart clenches at the thought of tomorrow. that at this time in 24 hours, he won’t be with you anymore. and that made him want to scream.
your hands move up to cradle his chin, brushing your thumb over his lower lip. your voice is rasped from your recent activities as you ask your question: “can i ask you something?”
“anything, doll.” he says confidently.
you inhale deeply. “can… can you feel me here?”
you motion to his burnt lower lip, and then to his patches of purple, burnt skin, barely holding itself together. its a question you’ve wondered for years, yet have always feared the answer.
his silence is nerve wracking, before finally answering.
“yeah. i can.”
even then, you’re not convinced.
“even when i kiss you?” your voice is barely above a whisper.
he leans in closer, as if its important to him that you hear this.
“you’re the only person that makes me feel things, doll. yes, i can feel you.”
he inhales again, knowing that he needs to ask you this sooner or later.
“promise me something, babygirl.”
“anything.” you nod.
“promise me… promise me that when i walk out that door tomorrow. promise me you’ll find some other guy. someone that makes you happy and protects you. that..”
that loves you like he does. but touya knows that no one will ever love you like he does.
to say your heart shattered at that was an understatement. how could you ever even think of finding another man, when your heart irrevocably belonged to touya todoroki?
“…is that what you want?” you asked, still shocked.
the question hits him like a punch to the gut. no, he absolutely, unequivocally does not want that. the thought of someone else with you, loving you, holding you, being with you… it makes him sick to his stomach. no, he can’t even bare the thought of someone being tangled with you like this. dreaming of you like he does. loving you with a love so bright it burns- it made him sick.
and when he thinks of that. of you moving on without him.. selfishly, so fucking selfishly, it makes him want to burn the world down. because if it’s nothing but ash, no one will get to have you, even he’s gone. maybe to love him meant burning it all down, anyway.
and for a moment, he's tempted, so very tempted, to say no, to tell you that he wants you to never move on, to tell you to love him and only him, selfish as it may be. but he can't. not when he knows he never even deserved you in the first place.
"…yes."
and you have the audacity to scoff.
he looks on confused, and a little offended. what was so audacious in this moment it had you laughing?
“touya.” you call his attention. his blue eyes never even left your sight as he nods.
“do you honestly think love just ends when you leave?”
it stumps him, for a moment. like his heart stuttering at the thought. he tries to figure out where you’re going with this as he answers.
“no. i don’t.” he affirms.
“exactly.” you say. “it doesn’t. in fact, i don’t think i’ve loved you any more than i do right now. love is felt the strongest when its leaving.”
your words do more to him than he’d like to admit. he gulps.
“so even right now, you love me?”
the answer to that should have been obvious.
“i’m never not loving you.”
he manages a dry chuckle, pressing his forehead to yours. god, he wishes he could have this forever. but he knows a demon like him can’t enter heaven.
so for now, he embraces you fully, rubbing circles onto your back and hushing you to sleep. the cool air blows through the room, so he shields you with his body, wanting you to feel nothing but the warmth and the comfort you deserve. he may not be the guy you deserve, but he sure as hell can protect you like he his.
and for what might be the last time, he savours the way your lips bless his in a kiss. your the only name on his lips, the only one that could ever feel what its like to love him.
he feels his heartbreak as you fall asleep. he hopes you dream of him. dreams are so much happier.
“…i’m never gonna stop loving you.” he whispers.
and with that, touya falls asleep.

Why do you believe Toya won't die? He's basically a burnt corpse that can no longer move and barely talk. Horikoshi's writing could be changed to emphasize how the family can now fully move on from Toya and Endeavor and it was a Greek Tragedy on Endeavor's end while hopeful for Shoto.
This is not a Greek tragedy, it's a Japanese shounen manga that focuses on kids becoming heroes.
"He's basically a burnt corpse" isn't it just lovely then that a fantasy story about people who have varying superpowers could so easily fix that?
I'm sorry you guys have never read stories where people look like they are beyond saving or actually dead, only to come back just fine because the author said so.
The only tragic part is the fandom being so dead set on the villains dying somehow being a satisfying conclusion rather than the tragic part of this only being that such a conclusion would be poor writing.
The themes of the story have been uplifting, focusing on the fact that people can get better in the right environment and if given a second chance.
"The family can now fully move on from Touya" and that is shown where? I see nothing but people being hopeful for a future where they can talk to him after ten years of being separated from him. The family does not want to move on from him. They want to talk to him, want to come see him. They had ten years to move on from him and couldn't, so suggesting that finding out that instead of dying before, he had been alive and physically and mentally suffering this entire time, is somehow the magic ingredient that was missing from their ability to move on is beyond me.
It is also unclear to me how it would be "hopeful" for Shouto to know he was able to prolong someone's life by a few weeks and have that person find closure before death like that somehow is the mark of a successful hero. He wants a relationship with his brother - wants to get to know him, have soba with him, hang out with him. That has been his goal since being a kid and wouldn't it be nice if he could get that?
Touya has been surviving a lot and as said before, if Horikoshi had wanted him dead, he could have done so at the end of the war instead of keeping him alive so that his dad can tell him he's retiring.
If you want to worry and tell yourself Touya and the rest of the lov are dying, I won't stop you but this idea is simply not supported by the story and with only 4 more chapters left, some of you should maybe just wait it out silently instead of spreading fear and holding on to this tragic mindset the same way Touya has been holding on to life.

No matter how bnha ends, I'm grateful that I became invested because it brought me joy, and it gifted me the euphoric experience of getting to know one of my favorite characters ever: Touya Todoroki, Dabi. I will always love him, and he will always have a special place in my heart. Nothing can change that or take that away from me. Shouto, too. The soba brothers are eternal to me.
It's so typical of me to be drawn to the mysterious, cold, brooding characters, haha. Shouto and Dabi immediately captured my attention when I first watched/read bnha with @fox-conscious. I took a break from following the series for a few years until November 2020, when I casually logged into Tumblr after months of not checking and saw chapter 290 Dabi's Dance leaks. It must have been fate. Suddenly, I was fully immersed in the manga again, excited that the obvious familial connection between my two favorites was officially confirmed. This reveal reignited my excitement and gave me something to focus on and look forward to during a challenging first semester in grad school, when I was on the cusp of realizing I needed professional help for my eating disorder.
To deal with the stress and have fun, I turned to reading and writing meta, and trying to make friends to share the experience with. That's the most important thing that has come from following this series... I've met so many incredible people who mean a lot to me:
@haleigh-sloth has become a really dear and close friend of mine. We met because of this manga and bonded over crepes, breakfast foods, pasta or ramen dinners, shopping at the mall, swimming in the river, walking her dogs, sleepovers, traveling, and road trips because of our shared love of the characters and story. We are basically the same person and constantly say the same things at the same time. Through the ups and downs of school, work, moving, and even now, we've always had each other's backs and shared countless moments of laughter and ugly cackling because we can't take shit seriously, ever. She's one of my best friends for life and I can't imagine NOT having her around!
@todomitoukei was one of the first friends I made in this fandom. I can always count on her to make the funniest jokes I've ever heard, especially during a completely serious conversation, and I'm astounded how smart, quick-witted, and talented she is. Truly an inspiration. I always look forward to seeing notifications that she messaged me because she brightens my day <3
I've had the great pleasure of meeting and hugging @hamliet TWICE! She has a generous heart and an inviting, calm aura. Her kindness and intelligence are remarkable. I genuinely enjoy discussing all sorts of topics with her, both silly and serious: life, hopes and dreams, fears and daily struggles, funny memes, reading and writing. I also love seeing her pet photos and can't wait to meet them in the future.
@transhawks is truly my most insane friend, and I say that lovingly and in the most ironic way because he's level-headed, creative, articulate, and self-aware. I'm always learning from him. I can talk to him for hours and never run out of things to say, and I always look forward to his insightful commentary about anything and everything.
And of course, I'm grateful for all the discord shenanigans with my friends: watching the anime together, voice calls, memes, sharing ideas, etc. @chocolate-biscuit who always pops into the chat with funny one-liners that leave me cackling for days when they flash in my head randomly, @bootlickerhawks who is the bestest horse person ever and I get excited to see on my dash, @helga-grinduil who is the saltiest and funniest person on this hellsite and also happens to make the best bnhaedits in this entire fandom, @jecook who is one of the sweetest people I've ever met and can't wait to read fix-it fics from, @mettywiththenotes who sends cute dog pictures and makes the most hilarious memes. Together we are all unhinged, and I love it. Despite living in different time zones, different counties, we've all create a fun space to cohabitate, and I think that's really cool and beautiful.
Hmm. Looks like the real treasure was the friends I made along the way, and the shared trauma of having our favorite characters mishandled by their creator was worth it. Can't wait to keep writing fics, making memes, and making new friends like @shortstrawberryshake because of this manga. And, I can't wait to keep loving Touya and Shouto Todoroki, of course <3

okay i just gotta talk about bnha's ending
and what i thought was gonna happen based on the way the narrative had been setting things up.
some light bnha meta. spoilers obviously.
i will preface with i am not concerned with ships. i would be fine with whatever, really, because ultimately, i am my favourite characters' girlfriend (and you are your fave's significant other, etc.). moving on.
1) the first major red flag for me, as a writer, was when we barely spent any time at all at shigaraki's childhood home with dark!deku. it signalled that midoriya wasn't going to fully understand what was going on with shigaraki and therefore lose some nuance/meaning to [what i thought was going to be] shigaraki's redemption. by only having the audience understand shig's tragedy but not midoriya, midoriya is not making a fully informed decision and therefore his choices weigh a bit less.
1a) additionally, with dark!deku, it sets us up to have a thorough examination of shig/deku mirroring each other. doesn't really happen. and midoriya's getting his arms back within one chapter takes away from the overarching motif of taking someone's hand to finally accept help. like captain kirk once said, the three most beautiful words in the universe are "please help me." this could've been a chance for deku to ask for help from shig or the vestiges and further blur the line between villains and heroes.
2) when nana shimura holds shigaraki--this is probably the most confusing narrative decision from my perspective, because i figured we were about to go into OFA with both shig and deku, have some sort of glorious discussion over a fight about what a hero is and saving yourself and accepting help and friendship and stuff, but we just...don't. we don't go see all the vestiges with shigaraki. i thought that was what we were building up to, this ultimate scene with all the OFA users and shig all in the same place, accepting shig as someone who was used/abused and could still move on. i fully thought this would happen and that some unfamilar, bodily form of tenko would be spat out after the discussion, a tenko who's shoved off all shreds of AFO and can begin as solely himself.
instead we get that weird-as-fuck evaporation scene where shigaraki still wanted to fight. which is weird to me, because i haven't read shigaraki as wanting to fight for a long, long time. i've been reading him as wanting to rest.
3) i didn't want toga to die, but i could feel it coming bc "bury your gays" pervades pop media. but holy shit. not even on screen? the last scene seems to set uraraka and toga up to sacrifice each other for the other, and i figured they'd survive, though both severely injured. toga's death (and other villain deaths/putting away in a box) feels contradictory to the story's themes of saving people, that anyone can change to be anything they want. killing/punishing the villains seems to be saying that villains will always be villains, and even if they showed some remorse, they have to die, because they did bad stuff once.
4) touya is more of that "punishing bc he's a villain" stuff. uh. okay. narratively, he seems to be alive to show endeavor's regret. okay. a better way of showing this would be to have touya medically healing and have endeavor supporting him every step of the recuperation. (not that i would personally want this, bc i don't think endeavor's shown enough growth to do this.) and like. how it is now, with endeavor saying that no one has to talk to him, but he's gonna come visit touya and how the others are going to visit touya as well--it feels like they're arguing over who gets touya in the divorce lol (well, it would be lol, except they're dehumanising/objectifying touya again).
4a) why set up the soba eating with touya/shouto if we're not going to see it. why do that, hori. why would you
5) the timeskip to the hospital was jarring. we spend over a year in this one battle, and then we don't see it wrap up. we're left with questions about characters that could've been answered here, in this moment, in the transitional period of getting everyone medical help.
6) okay this is me being very selfish, but as someone with a focus in disability studies, i'd like to know more about everyone's recuperation. mostly, you'd FUCKING THINK that once they're at the hospital, they'd be able to get a whole-ass edgeshot out of bakugou. that's unfair to both of them. edgeshot was taking the place of medical equipment on the battlefield, so why not replace him with actual medical equipment now that bakugou is safe? we also spend a bit talking about bakugou's damaged arm, so why don't we see him working with it?
7) weird amount of focus on new students. i understand some focus, because setting up the new generation, and all, but since hero society appears to be exactly the same, it means significantly less to set them up to be better than the mistakes this generation made. since society/worldbuilding isn't changing in a major way, the audience desire is primarily to see what's happening with the characters we care about. so this feels unsatisfying.
8) also. attached to point 2 about shigaraki being redeemed. hero society should be changed. there should be a new status quo about what being a hero means and how the whole system works in light of this knowledge. shigaraki, touya, spinner, and toga should be alive and out there doing other stuff, showing that you can grow past what you've gone through. deku should still be out there doing "hero stuff" regardless of quirk/power, because of his character and fortitude.
why the hell is the ending message that anyone with power can be a hero instead of the obvious (and more moral) moral of anyone with courage/determination/"my body moved on its own" to help others, as deku did, can be a hero, regardless of birth or status. it was right there!!!! how was this sidestepped!!!
9) no bookend to spinner? no spinner? babe. i'm not even the greatest fan of spinner, and it feels like we left him unfinished.
10) scratch that. it all feels unfinished. rushed. did something happen to end it this way?
anyway. thanks for reading. i'm confused about the writing choices.
TL;DR: recent narrative decisions make no sense based on what the manga has set up for us, particularly the evaporation/death of shigaraki bc it contradicts the message that anyone can be a hero, regardless of your past, and that it's okay to ask for help.

"He ruined their lives" 😭 literally, I get that Touya is family and all that, and there's complicated feelings amongst the Todofam BUT like it's a bit wild that they all want to talk to him(at least Enji, Fuyumi & Rei do, not sure on Natsuo), I guess it's because technically he's dying so I guess they want to change it this time 🤷‍♀️ like this time they're with him! Also why so "forgiving" or like no anger?! Shouto wanting to know Touya's favourite food, I liked it but surely he should be at least a bit angry(I guess he did critique during their fight but still) and I don't think we're meant to take that as forgiveness but that's definitely not anger or criticism! Like maybe we're to think that maybe some harsh words were shared with him off-screen(like in future visits), because sure have your guilt your grief and all that but you must have some harsh truths you got to say to him?! right?! Like I'm not necessarily against them visiting Touya, because he is dying and the family probably would heal better with closure but it's the lack of critique or anger on their part!
However, I don't think he ruined their lives completely, at least not in the sense in that they won't ever be happy again. We've got Shouto moving forward, and making a name for himself and his future seems pretty bright. Fuyumi lost her job, but she got a new one thanks to a friend etc.
Yeah, Horikoshi simplifies the situation A LOT because he wants to make a feel-good story where two such different and separated brothers talk about their favorite food. I think this is a classic "I want the plot to go there, so I don't really care if it makes sense"
Rei was not thought out as a character at all. She acts more or less the way the plot needs her to act and the way a "mother" character would. Tbh mha is not a feminist masterpiece, so I wouldn't expect any deep dives into female psychology. Uraraka vs Bakugou fight was the biggest statement ever for Horikoshi, and it's nothing new. So perhaps he had no idea what to do with someone with such a complex history as Rei's. So, yeah, she wants to talk to Touya because she is his mother and that what a mother would want to do
Fuyumi... In the manga, she appears so well put together, but god, in real life, she would need to go to therapy for 10 years, at least. Like, she represents the type of victim that forgives (in short) vs Natsuo who doesn't and lowkey Horikoshi wants to represent that both are ok, but he makes them almost a caricature? Natsuo is much more well-done but Fuyumi... Even if she forgives he father and wants him to be better and forgives her brother and wants him to die surrounded by family it doesn't mean she must NEVER get angry. Not even once. She looks like such a people-pleaser and "everyone should act nicely" and "shove your feelings deep inside" and I am not buying that shit as being ok. She is not ok but the narrative pushes that she is fine idk man. You had to quit your job because your brother turned out to be a terrorist!!! Please, have a reaction
And in general, it is just so so horrible for the entire family. Here is your dying mass murderer arsonist member of a terrorist group that ruined your hometowm brother who told everyone details of your private life so people will look weird at you for the rest of your life. Now. He is dying and you feel so bad so you will have to go visit him. Out of sympathy 🥺🥺🥺 Don't you feel bad for him? Do you even have a choice not to visit? Will your consciousness allow you that? Bruh this is such a guil trip I don't care I hope that cocroach dies in a week so they wouldn't have to go through humiliationg of going to see someone who actively put their lives in danger or outright wanted to kill just because he is their brother
God!!!!! Dabi told Enji he wanted to bring him Shouto's head. How the hell is this ending supposed to even be bittersweet, it's just nasty. I don't want them talking about soba!!! Fuck that
I guess I wrote that but in general I don't like to think of anything as ruining your life to a point of no return. A person can always recover and find new happiness. But Dabi-Touya very much actively tried to destroy as much of their lives as he could. Mostly, it might have been a collateral of destroying Enji's life, but the lack of thought towards his siblings and mom is terrifying to me

I used to be in the "let Dabi live" camp but my staying there required very specific circumstances which have long passed 🤣🤣 I only lead with this because the recent chapter spoilers have got me sooo displeased. It IS cruel. The entire family needs to let him go. I get him apologizing to Shoto (if that ends up being true? I wouldn't trust it until an official translation drops but I am also mostly avoiding spoilers atm haha) because he had always wanted to apologize to his family, but let him go. Please 😭
so from what i can tell from the fan translation + scans, it LOOKS to me like he apologized to an empty room. the ‘sorry’ bubble is being said when the family is outside the facility, it appears????? unless i’m being entirely fucking delusional LMAO
i like this a lot better than touya apologizing to shouto’s face because 1. it feels much more in character, and 2. i’d argue it makes that soba moment a helluva lot more impactful. it almost feels like the final nail in the coffin of realization for touya, like he’s going ‘damn, he is actually JUST LIKE ME, we could’ve been enjoying soba together and i didn’t realize he wasn’t dad’s puppet; i didn’t realize he was also a victim’. when touya first comes face to face with shouto (as dabi), he hasn’t seen him in several years, he has NO idea what the fuck was going on in that house or how shouto truly is as a person or how shouto feels towards their father and all of the abuse he endured at the hands of their father, and touya has created and clung to this narrative in his head of shouto being enji’s lil masterpiece, enji’s pride and joy. shouto subsequently shows him throughout their various fights that this is truly not the case. i think you could argue that now that touya’s on the brink of death with nothing to do but THINK in that godforsaken machine they’ve locked him in, he is finally truly reflecting on everything that happened and coming to some realizations before he dies. at least, that’s how i see it!!
other than that, i’m so so so upset with how everything is being handled. i’m SO glad touya calls them out and says he feels like a tourist attraction because YEAH. yeah. that’s what they’re doing to you, baby. they’re keeping you alive and prolonging your inevitable death so THEY can talk to you, for THEM, not for you. ugh honestly i could write you a whole essay on how disgusting and disrespectful this whole thing is, i’ve been rambling all damn day to my friends about it HAHAHA ._. it’s just so goddamn selfish!!!!!! the fact that enji just speaking had touya’s heart raising to DANGEROUS levels already says so much. like you’re really just going to prolong his fucking suffering so YOU can all absolve yourselves of your guilt??? you can’t give him the one thing he has wanted and planned for for several years (death)??? fuck right off

A Bond Between Brothers
Retracing Our Steps: Natsuo
series masterlist
“And what hurts the most is people can go from people you know to people you don't” - People You Know, Selena Gomez
a/n: my writing for natsuo is far from perfect but I imagine him trying to bond with shouto is a little awkward so bear with me 😭
Tumblr media
Even though it’d been a few hours since everything went down, things had yet to settle down in and around the hospital. Walking back from the canteen, he tried desperately not to spill anything as nurses and doctors bumped into him.
They were speeding down the halls, still bringing in the injured that were caught up in the chaos that ensued in Jaku City. It looked like a lot of people weren’t able to evacuate in time. However, the crazy atmosphere of the hospital wasn’t what had Natsuo stopped in his tracks, though.
He’d passed a few people laying on gurneys in the hallways, waiting for available rooms. Their families were with them too, and they were crying. Crying because their loved ones had been injured— crying because they didn’t know if they’d make it or not.
Natsuo had cried like that once. When he heard that Touya had burned up and died on Sekoto Peak, he sobbed into his pillows of the bedroom once belonging to his brother. When he wasn’t at school or hanging out with Fuyumi, he’d sneak into Touya’s old bedroom and talk to himself as if he were talking to his brother. He used to act like he never even left as a way to cope.
When he got a little older though, he stopped doing that. It’s not like he ever got over what happened to Touya, so he wasn’t entirely sure why he stopped.
Instead, like his father, he’d sit in front of the shrine with Touya’s remains. He still liked to talk to him like he always did, even if it was just to a photo. That was the only picture of Touya his father didn’t pack into a box, so he always made sure to sit down with him whenever he came home.
When he really thought about it, Natsuo spent more time talking to a portrait than he did talking to his little brother who was still here. Sad as it was, he just couldn’t find it in him to get over Touya. It’s why he was so shocked when he watched the video live streamed by the villains.
“Sir! Excuse me, you’re blocking the hallway.” A nurse said, placing a hand on his shoulder before pushing past him with yet another gurney in tow.
“...Right, my bad.” he said, though the nurse was already leagues away.
He kept his head down as he walked down the hall. He wasn’t sure at first, but he decided to check up on Shouto before meeting his mom and Fuyumi again. It’s why he picked up some cold soba from the cafeteria before he came up here. It wasn’t anything fancy, but he didn’t want Shouto to starve so it would have to do. His room wasn’t much farther and before he knew it he was standing right outside the door. He could hear voiced coming from inside. They were probably some of Shouto’s classmates.
“Ugh, maybe this was a bad idea,” he murmured, second-guessing even being here. He didn’t want to intrude on his brother and classmates. He could tell they were all worried about him.
Shouto and those two other kids took the brunt of the Liberation Front’s attacks. But before he could even think about turning around and walking away, the door slid open and he was met with a few kids. The one right in front of him was a boy with yellow hair and a black zig-zag down the side.
“You are…” the teen trailed off, waiting for Natsuo to introduce himself.
“Natsuo. Shouto’s brother,” Natsuo answered. He awkwardly presented the food. “I brought him something to eat. Is he up?” he asked.
“Oh, yeah. He’s awake now, we were just visiting.” the blond said. He turned around to look back into the room. “Yo, Todoroki! You’re brother’s here, so we’re gonna bounce!” he said, trying not to shout too loudly. Natsuo peered into the room and met eyes with Shouto for a second before looking back at the group of students leaving the room so they could have some privacy. “Nice to meet you bro,”
“Uh… yeah, you too.” he said, waiting until the group was gone before slipping into Shouto’s room, shutting the door behind him. It wasn’t that he’d never talked to his brother before, but it was still a little weird given the fact they never saw each other growing up. They barely saw each other even now, and Natsuo didn’t know the first thing about Shouto.
“Natsu?” Shouto’s voice was still hoarse from all the burns Touya gave him. “I…” he let out a scratchy cough and brought a hand to his throat. “I thought you were with mom.” he said.
Natsuo just shrugged as he walked more into the room. “I was… then I went to look for some food,” he said through a dry laugh. It wasn’t funny, he was just trying to break the ice. “I got you some soba while I was downstairs though. It’s cold,” He held out the packaged soba for his brother to take. Shouto cleared his throat, but Natsuo noticed that it looked painful. “You don’t need to talk if your throat’s feeling bad. I just wanted to check on you.”
Shouto nodded, taking the food. His hands didn’t hurt nearly as much as they did earlier, but the bandages limited their flexibility and movement. “Oh. Thanks,” he whispered. There was an awkward tension in the air as Shouto struggled to fully take the lid off the soba, but once he got it off Natsuo had offered to help with the chopsticks. “Can I… ask you about Touya? Is that okay?”
It caught Natsuo off-guard. He didn’t think Shouto was going to speak to him, much less ask about Touya— now known as Dabi. Nonetheless, he nodded. He could understand Shouto wanting to know more about their older brother, and it made sense that he would ask him. After all, him and Touya were attached at the hip when they were kids.
“Sure.” he answered, sitting down in the chair beside the bed. “What do you want to know?”
Natsuo shook the thoughts of Dabi from his mind, wanting to keep Touya separate from the maniac villain. He didn’t want to imagine that the brother closest to him had tried to kill him. The thought –though he didn’t show it– hurt him too much to think about. It caused an indescribable pain to swell in his chest. One he thought he’d forgotten long ago.
Shouto shrugged as he slurped his noodles.
“Anything. What kind of stuff did he like?” he asked. Honestly, that was all he wanted to know. He wanted to get to know Touya vicariously through what his family remembered about him.
“Well…” Natsuo trailed off. “Touya and I used to collect Pokemon cards. We had pretty big collections, but he always got the good cards. He liked to draw, too, which was honestly surprising. They weren’t any good though.” he said, a small smile creeping onto his face. He looked down at his hands and sighed.
It didn’t hurt to think about Touya as much as he thought it would. Talking about him actually felt good in a way. Like a weight was being lifted off his chest or something.
“And there was that one time Touya tried to make breakfast for mom and dad, but he burnt everything. You should’ve seen the looks on their faces when they bit into it. They ate all of it, though. They didn’t want to hurt his feelings.”
“What was his favorite food?” Shouto asked. Natsuo looked up again. “Touya’s favorite, I mean. Do you know what he liked?” he asked. “I’ve been—” Shouto coughed, “Nevermind.”
Natsuo wasn’t sure what to say. Even he didn’t know Touya’s favorite foods growing up. He knew that Touya liked to snack, though, not so much on sweets. He preferred savory snacks like chips as opposed to candies. As much as he wanted to answer Shouto’s question, he couldn’t. “I wish I could tell you,” he says through an exasperated sigh. “I’m sure Fuyumi knows. She did most of the cooking after the housemaid quit.”
The look on Shouto’s face could only be described as disappointed. Natsuo couldn’t help but feel bad, especially since Shouto was the only one who didn’t have any kind of bond with Touya other than blood. He didn’t get to experience a childhood with Touya like him and Fuyumi did. Much like he didn’t get to experience a childhood with Shouto.
Maybe if he had, things wouldn’t be so awkward between them. Maybe he wouldn’t have to wait fifteen years to find out what his little brother’s favorite meal was.
“You know… uh, well— I’m surprised I even remember this,” Natsuo muttered. Shouto looked up from his noodles to see his brother running a hand through his hair.
“What is it?” Shouto asked.
Dragging his hand to the back of his neck, Natsuo opened his mouth to speak but quickly shut it again. He wasn’t sure if he should speak what was on his mind right now. If not for himself, than for Shouto. He wasn’t sure how Shouto might react to hearing it, since he didn’t know his current feelings about Touya at the moment. Hell, Natsuo didn’t even know how to react to it when he first heard it. The words Touya gave him one night when he was barely awake.
“Touya. H–He told me something when we were kids. It was about how he tried to attack you when you were a baby.” Natsuo spoke. “He said that… uh— shit, I don’t remember, I was half-asleep,” he sighed. He brought his eyes to the floor again, already sick of the speckled pattern he’s been walking on all afternoon. “Oh, right. He knew he shouldn’t have been mad at you. He said that he knew it wasn’t your fault. I just— I thought you should know that, I guess.”
For a moment, it was silent. Concerned, Natsuo met Shouto’s gaze only be met with widened eyes and an unsure look contorting his face. He seemed frozen as he processed what he had just heard. For a minute, Natsuo wasn’t sure if he believed him. Or if he even heard him, for that matter, he sat awkwardly in his seat as Shouto continued staring blankly into his soul.
“He said that?” There was a slight waver in Shouto’s voice, but Natsuo didn’t mention it and just nodded. His two-toned brother paused again, running his word over and over through his mind. “Dab– Touya said that…” he finally said, but it didn’t sound like he was asking this time.
“I can’t know for sure what he thinks about you now. But I hope you know that he didn’t always hate you. He’s only trying to kill you to make Endeavor suffer.” Natsuo said. Upon seeing Shouto deadpan, he brought his hands up in surrender. “Uh– not that that’s an excuse or anything! I’m— I–I’m just saying that deep down, maybe he doesn’t hate you as much as you might think! And trust me, for someone who turned out to be a mass murderer… Touya’s a real big crybaby. Don’t let the patchy face scare you off,”
Shouto couldn’t help the small upturn of his mouth as he listened to his brother yammer on. He knew that Touya was still his brother. They were bound by blood, after all. And he knew that fate would bring them back together again, whether they liked it or not.
“Natsuo… thanks. I’m happy you stopped down here. This is nice.”
“Uh– yeah, no problem. You’re welcome, Shouto. If you want… I could tell you more about Touya. He was a real trouble maker in school, I heard. Fuyumi knows all the details, but I heard once he set a toilet on fire,”
Shouto’s eyes blew wide and he suppressed a snicker.
“He did? What did mom and dad think?”

BNHA MANGA 291 SPOILERS
(I GET MOST TRANSLATIONS/INFO FROM @.atsushi101x ON TWITTER)
Title: "Thank you for being fine"
TW CHILD ABUSE, OVERWORKING, DEATH, SWEARING
This chapter we got the rest of the Todoroki family reacting to Touyas reveal and pictures of baby Touya :))
Lets start with the other Todoroki siblings reaction to Dabi coming out as Touya
(THEORIES + PICTURES BELOW)
Tumblr media
(is this a bad time to talk about how pretty Fuyumi is)
We know Touya and Natsuo were the closest as kids and he seems the most hurt by this.
A lot of people were theorizing that Natsuo knew about Dabis plan but this proves otherwise (there is still a chance but its a LOT less).
He was watching the broadcast and seems really hurt by this (mfer HUG ME I LOVE U), while Fuyumi was in the classroom and the school staff had to call her.
Tumblr media
We all believed Endeavor forced Rei to keep getting pregnant until they had the "perfect child" but this scene shows that Rei was the one that suggested it.
I wonder if she ever regretted that choice.
Even with both Fuyumi and Touya not having the quirk Enji wanted. at the time he was okay with that as Touya already had a more talent that him.
Tumblr media
BABY TOUYA BABY TOUYA !!
translation (text on full picture that i cant find): "if its you" (I DONT KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS !! AT ALL !!)
We see Touya burning his own skin, so his current scars are probably self inflicted.
Enji noticed that part of Touyas hair turned white in this picture, which he at the time didn’t take seriously by saying ‘No way, I’m a grandpa?!.
Tumblr media
He quickly moved on after that.
translation of this scene (not by me) below
"You possessed a fire power even greater than mine."
"Nevermind that! Show me your special move!"
("special move" can also be seen as finishing blow/ ultimate move)
It seems that Dabi wasn't abused from a young age like Shouto, but this doesn't mean that Enji was any better at parenting him.
Tumblr media
Oh god look at this ANGEL !! I LOVE HIM !!
Not shown here but we're told that Touya 'died' in a "Sekoto dake" (Im sorry I have no idea what that is but its described as a fireproof place where Endeavor trained him) with temperature reaching 2060C, its implied that Endeavour wasn't with him at the time it happened.
They only found a piece of lower jaw bone. (DABI ARE YOU OKAY BB WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR JAW ???)
Tumblr media
Back on the battlefield Endeavour didn't believe Dabi, but this smart bastard showed his DNA test with a 99.99% match, the results were broadcasted. Who the hell gave Dabi a DNA test? I have no idea.
He used the blood he had gotten from Endeavour in the kyuushuu encounter for the test.
The rest of the league of villains were shocked, saying it was the first time they heard about this.
He also explained his view on Endeavour, the way he was using them, Shoto's birth, and saying that Endeavour never thought of anyone but himself. He asked the public if such a person was worthy of having the NO.1 hero title.
Tumblr media
The kyuushuu kid didn't want to believe it, but Dabi began to expose Hawks by showing a video of him killing Twice.
The fact that Dabi was RECORDING this leads me to believe he may have known about Hawks being a traitor and that Twice would die.
Tumblr media
He told the public that Hawks killed both him and Best Jeanist. He then went on to explain that Hawks father was a villain (more specifically a serial killer and robber) and Endeavour picked him up.
In the broadcast he said that he cannot forgive Endeavour for being a man with such a dark background and becoming a hero.
Hawks wings are still burnt off but Tokoyami is taking care of him. Cause hes a GOOD BOY !!
Tumblr media
Endeavour was too shocked to move while Shoto was screaming at him to move back, he said that him and Nejire will handle Dabi.
EVERYONE STOP HURTING SHO CHALLENGE. (please give him forehead kisses and cold soba after this he deserves it)
I mean... even heroes have to cry when they need to.
Tumblr media
While Endeavour was still not moving and Shoto was in a panic, Dabi jumped towards Endeavor, most likely to kill him, ‘Thank you for being fine until today’.
Dabi was caught by a wire, before Best Jeanist appeared (MFER WHY ARE YOU NOT DEAD !!) saying that he will be returning to work.
(WILL REBLOG WITH MORE PHOTOS AND STUFF SO CHECK NOTES !! )

A Ghost Of Ice And Fire
-
Fuyumi had wanted to be a hero when she was young. However, both her father and mother told her she couldn’t. For two different reasons.
Her father thought she had an ice quirk like her mother’s Frost, her mother said no because she knew the truth.
Fire and Ice.
Everyday she would train in order to keep it hidden as her mother demanded. “You can’t let him know!” Her mother would cry once her youngest brother was born. “You were lucky that not as much red came through.”
Those moments stuck in her mind. ‘I can’t let him know. I can’t let him know.’ Her mind would repeat day after day as she got better at controlling both of her sides. She trained everyday- in any way she could.
But she knew she couldn’t be a hero. Even as she desperately wished she could. She had to hide.
‘I hate him! I hate him! I hate him.’
During the first two years after Touya’s death, she searched and searched. She couldn’t believe her father’s words. They had to be lies. She found nothing.
‘I’m sorry Touya, I’ve failed you.’
During her training periods where she knew no one could find her, she let go of her control and watched as her white flames and snow surrounded her.
She would feel peaceful for a little bit after that. Her flames were hotter than Father’s own. She still felt bad.
‘How dare you?’
She wanted to scream. Her mother burnt Shouto’s face. Mother who was always so kind to her, burnt her baby brother’s face! All because of the thing that hurt them!
Her mother went to a hospital and she took over raising her siblings. She made sure laundry was done, that Natsuo and Shouto got to school, that they got patched up, that there was food, and even helped with any homework.
She hadn’t needed to play those silly games anyways. She was a teenager. It was high time she acted her age.
‘I hate this place!’
Even when she finally decided on being a teacher, throughout college she would come back to the place where all their misfortunes thrived. She couldn’t leave her brothers alone.
Natsuo wanted to go into the medical field. She was so proud and made his favorite meal once he got accepted into the college. When Shouto, her brother(who felt more like a son), went into UA she was crying tears of joy.
“You did it!” Fuyumi had told him. “I’m so proud of you Shouto!” With Natsuo at school and their father at work, the two of them ate the soba she made.
“Touya…”
Her breathing became heavy. There was that familiar ringing in her ears whenever she went to let go of her control. She had to get out.
“I’m so sorry! Big brother please!” She had screamed in her nightmares. As her brothers would blame her. Touya, Natsuo, and Shouto would let her know how much they despised her.
She gets into the forest and lets go. The trees started burning on her right, ice covering her left. She hears people coming.
She has to run.
She makes it back home and calms her nerves. All this time. Her brother had been alive. She wants to scream, to cry, to beg, to fight, to- to be forgiven.
She doesn’t quit teaching. Her kids need her there to help them.
She doesn’t move out. Shouto still needs her to keep dad away the best she can- even with the dorms.
She doesn’t hunt Touya down. He wouldn’t want her too.
She does go out. She needs to fix what’s been done.
She does fight. Every night. Heroes and villains both.
She does use both sides of her quirk and studies up on more fighting styles.
They all wonder who she is. Father defends her because as he knows, she has an ice quirk. Her mother gives her a disappointed look every time they meet. Fuyumi knows what Rei wants to say but neither brings it up.
Natsuo talks about the vigilante, “Ghost,” as dubbed by the news for her ethereal and pale looks. A ghost of fire and ice. How fitting.
Day after day, more heroes who were corrupted- more villains who took their goals too far- she stopped them. Some speculated that she was a Stain copycat. They were wrong.
She could see the flaws of everyone. Even All Might. But she didn’t let that make her remove all heroes. Some had value, some had honor.
Others did not.
She will right the wrongs that happened. Somehow, in some way. Until then, she had to help stop Touya. She had to finally stop her father.
She could not lose.

Your natsuo fics are GOD level... and season 5 natsuo is sooo 🥵🥵. Once I saw him I ran to your blog to reread your fics. What are your thots on season 5 natsuo???
Tumblr media
BAHAHA omg thank you! 🥺🥺🥺
as for season five natsuo I am.... so very pleased with how he looks. so big and huge, truly endeavors son 🥵 broad ass shoulders and strong thick legs, this man is gonna fuck a woman (me) through the wall by accident and I wouldn’t even be mad about it.
on the other hand it did bring up an old thought I had about natsuo and why he still never bothered reaching out and like... trying to get to know shouto (mayhaps it’s still a sort of loyalty towards touya??? as it’s been almost 3+ months since his drastic change in heart). him saying he didn’t know shouto loves cold soba until that day kinda told me he doesn’t know anything about sho but I guess it can be a “we haven’t talked about this shit yet” but it just made me ngghhh :( poor shouto

How would the Todorokis be with their s/o?? Like Natsuo, Fuyumi, Shouto and Touya/Dabi??
I really believe that there should be a spin off called ‘Keeping up with the Todorokis’ where each one of them brings home their s/o and shit hits the fan. I love this prompt and I love ya. 💖💖💖
P.S It’s 4 am and I can’t sleep so please excuse any typos or grammatical mistakes. I’m in a daze. Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Natsuo Todoroki
-He met you at a convention.
-He was in his second year of university and he decided to attend one of those medical conventions, to feel more like a doctor.
-You bumped into him as you were entering the conference room and being as smooth as always, he asked you to sit with him.
-After that your friendship blossomed.
-You found out that you were actually in the same university but in different classes and that’s why you didn’t know each other.
-Being in the same campus helped a lot with the development of the relationship.
-It didn’t take long for him to fall head over heels in love with you.
-He realized just how in love he was with you after a particular brutal confrontation with his father.
-He had been so angry and desperate for comfort that his body responded by itself and led him to your door.
-You of course helped him as best you could, making him some tea and quickly fixing him up with something to eat.
-You could see his anger as it radiated off of him.
-Also the temperature dropped so...yeah.
-You didn’t push him to talk, opting to stay silent and allow him to talk when he felt like it.
-And it worked.
-He opened up to you, letting everything go.
-About his past, about Touya, about his father and eventually how much he wants to just hold but is afraid that he’ll just be like him inn the end.
-He is terrified at the possibility of him hurting you like his father did his mother and making you miserable.
-He told you that he truly loved you.
-You were in tears at that point.
-His past accompanied by his confession was just too much for you to handle.
-You jumped into his arms, wrapping him into one of the tightest hugs he had ever experienced and you just sobbed.
-You said you loved him too and that he was one of the loveliest and sweetest people you had ever met, he could never be like his father.
-Of course at some point he started crying as well and you two became two sobbing messes on the floor of your apartment.
-Your relationship was like a fever dream.
-Natsuo is a fun guy but he’s also one of the most crackheaded people on this earth.
-One minute you’re being smothered with kisses and the next you are being manhandled to the floor in an attempt to get the TV remote.
-It’s...it’s a fever dream.
-He likes showing his goofy self to you and making you question his intelligence.
-I mean how could one person be an astounding medical student while challenging you that he could fit more marshmallows in his mouth than you?!
-He values his family even if it links with his father’s abuse.
-So expect to meet Rei and Shouto after your one year anniversary or so.
-Fuyumi is the first family member you meet and that’s completely an accident.
-You were over at Natsuo’s and she came to drop off some food because he can’t cook for shit and she saw you.
-All the Todoroki’s adore you.
-And when I say all I mean all.
-Even fireball man.
-He doesn’t really like you at the beginning because YoUr qUIrK iSn’T gOoD enOUgH, but later he warms up to you and is actually excited for your visits.
-Shouto claims that you make incredible soba so he automatically worships you.
-Lowkey had a mini crush on you but it lasted for like a week and then he got infatuated with his s/o so you were long forgotten.
-Rei loves you because Natsuo loves you and because you are literally a ray of sunshine.
-Dabi....he takes his time because being in contact with his family after so many years is weird and seeing them slowly building their own families is even weirder, so you get the point.
-All in all, they can’t wait until they get to call you an official Todoroki.
Fuyumi Todoroki
-MY GIRL IS A LESBIAN.
-Change my mind....see you can’t.
-She’s the shy one of the Todoroki group and it shows.
-You have to do the first move and every move for that matter.
-You two met when you were dropping off your nephew off at his school because you are a responsible AUNT!!
-You almost left without him tbh.
-You were being led to the class by him because you had lost every sense of direction.
-Once inside the class you were greeted with 17 pair of eyes on you which later changed to squeals of excitement.
-Kids are weird okay... they get excited from the tiniest of changes and seeing a new face in the class had them ECSTATIC.
-They asked you question after question and you were slowly suffocating by a particular kid having wrapped his arms around your middle and squeezing, until a soft voice was heard from behind you.
- “Kids go to your seats please, and Daichi please let go of the lady.”
- “But she’s so pretty.”
-It took some time to get him off of you, mainly because you weren’t helping.
-You were to busy being in a daze as you looked at Fuyumi.
-She apologized about their behavior and asked if you were okay.
-You, trying to be smooth, said you were fine and asked for her name.
-She answered with a smile and you started talking until a cry was heard from inside the class and she had to leave.
- “I hope to see you around, Todoroki-chan.” you said with a wink and left.
-She was blushing like crazy and barely mustered a ‘goodbye’ before hurrying into the classroom.
-After that you would regularly drop your nephew off only for a chance to see her again.
-Finally, after many attempts, you mustered up the courage to ask her out and were taken aback by her excited squeal of approval.
-Your relationship could be described as the definition of softness.
-Fuyumi is a soft person and prefers tranquility over anything else, so that translates to a relationship argument free and just a ton of fluffy dates and cuddle sessions.
-You’re relatively protective over her, especially after she shares her past with you, and become a literal watchdog every time Endeavor is in the proximity.
-You click with Natsuo mainly because you have your crack moments and he can’t help but vibe with you.
-She’s super understanding and knows when work has been especially hard on you.
-She will make some tea and give you a massage, followed by a mini make out session and maybe some steamy times.
-She introduces you to her mother only after you two have exchanged ‘I love you’s because that’s when she knows that you are serious with her.
-Rei A D O R E S you.
-She lights up when she sees you with Fuyumi.
-Shouto is a little more closed off so you’ll have to try and get him to really like you.
-With some help from Natsuo’s s/o you’ll be on his good side in no time.
-Endeavor was from the first people to meet you mainly because you were visiting Fuyumi at their house frequently and he didn’t like you.
-You two could become feral if Fuyumi didn’t intervene.
-Eventually he warmed up to you.....because Fuyumi was marrying you so he didn’t really have a choice.
-After he realized the importance of family he started having the mindset that if his children were happy he was happy.
-And you made Fuyumi happy.
-Still salty over your nonexistent/normal quirk though.
Shouto Todoroki
-You were in the same class.
-And he found you beautiful since day one.
-So it was kinda inevitable.
-Like come on, you were perfect to him.
-You were beautiful, smart, caring and super strong.
-He fell head over heels after he fought you at the sports festival.
-He spoke to Midoriya about this weird feeling he was feeling in his chest and he diagnosed him with love.
-Okay, Shouto has no idea what to do.
-His perception of love was obliterated by his dad and his mom wasn’t in his reach for advice.
-Fuyumi was an option but he didn’t really feel comfortable.
-So what did he do?
-He googled it.
-He googled how to flirt and how to make a girl like you.
-And you can imagine the results.
-Kaminari level flirting.
-Thankfully you found his attempts cute and finally comforted him about the whole flirting thing, asking him if he liked you.
-He said yes, you know, bluntly and asked you out.
-Your relationship was awkward at first because he had no idea what he was doing and you didn’t want to overstep and make him uncomfortable.
-After some time, and many kisses and reassuring later, he relax and let himself go.
-TOUCH STARVED BABY BOY!
-He’s clingy af and if he traps you in his arms, he won’t let go.
-You’re his now.
-End of story.
-You help him cope with his trauma and encourage him to reach out to his mom and siblings.
-You become his shoulder to cry on/ rant about his father and you are there for him for everything.
-During the Nomu incident with his father, he was really shaken and that’s when he said ‘I love you’ for the first time.
-You were in his dorm room, him having his head in his hands as his breaths became labored.
-You didn’t say anything, instead opted to massage his back and just envelope him in a loose hug.
-Everything he felt for his father, the hatred and the anger, had momentarily disappeared and had been replaced by dread for his safety.
-He had destroyed his mother and their family, but he was still part of him.
-Shouto stayed there, in your arms, and just contemplated about his feelings towards everyone, not just his father.
-And that’s when he realizes that he loves you.
-And he just blurts it out.
-You are taken aback to say the least, but you still return his sentiment.
-He decides to introduce you to his family after that.
-First stop is Rei, who loves you.
-Seeing her Shouto looking at someone like that, with so much love in his eyes, is addicting and she couldn’t be happier.
-Next stop, Fuyumi and Natsuo.
-You go out on a triple date and things are hectic.
-Chaotic energy overload.
-But everything works out and the all of them end falling in love with you.
-Endeavor, tolerates you because of your quirk.
-Not that you care.
-Shouto keeps you away from him anyways.
-A wholesome boyfriend.
-Husband material right here.
Dabi/Touya Todoroki
-Burn me you flaming ball of daddy issues.
-Friends with benefits.
-That’s how it all started.
-Just some fun nights, shared between two partners in crime before returning to murdering people.
-The thing is that, in order to make Dabi fall in love you have to do something crazy af.
-You two were on a mission to spy on Overhauls rookies, when someone spotted you.
-He was about to shoot one of those quirk erasing darts right on Dabi’s back when you pushed him out of the way, getting your quirk erased and hitting your head because of your unceremonious landing.
-You have never seen one (1) Dabi roast 20+ people faster before.
-Your whole body felt stiff and heavy, making even the slightest of movements a challenge.
-Dabi was on his knees in no time, calling your name like a mad man and trying to keep you conscious.
-He scooped you up in his arms, cold sweat running down his spine as he watched you fall in and out of consciousness.
-Even after you closed your eyes, you could here him faintly calling out to you, spewing nonsense just to stir a reaction.
-Once at the hide out, he almost roundhoused Shigaraki’s ass because he got in his way, he rushed over to the new healer of their group.
-After being told that you were going to make it, he disappeared for a week.
-You woke up and he wasn’t there, which kinda hurt.
-Okay, you may or may not have feelings for him for some time now, but of course you won’t say anything..
-You will scare him off.
-Little did you know though that Dabi was getting himself wasted in an attempt to drown his feelings for you.
-His plan failed and he decoded to confront you about it.
-Get it out of the way.
-He came back and dragged you out of the hideout and aggressively confessed to you.
-You two are now exclusive.
-Congrats!
-Things are really chill.
-He worries when you go on missions by yourself, especially after seeing you like hurt after that Overhaul mission.
-Cuddles with him are based on his mood.
-If he doesn’t really want to cuddle, he won’t .
-You can’t change that no matter what.
-You are the only one who knows about his backstory and his family.
-After being together for a long time you encourage him to reach out to his siblings or his mom.
-His dad is a no no from both of you.
-And eventually he actually does.
-He introduces you to them and they have to warm up to the both of you.
-Because having your until recently deceased brother introduce his s/o to you is kinda....overwhelming.
-In the end, they are happy to have their brother back.
-And seeing so happy and trusting with another person, had them warm.
-Dabi deserves love.
-Poor baby suffers and he doesn’t deserve it.
if you feel like answering, why is natsuo your favorite character? like what do you like most about him? what made you connect to him/what made him stand out to you?
Ohhh boy better buckle up because this is gonna be a long one.
First off, thank you so much for the ask, and sorry it took so long to strap down and answer you! Naturally, I have a lot to say and I'm always looking for opportunities to rant about my favorite character 👀
The chapter that first opened my eyes to Natsuo as a character was chapter 252. I was caught up with the manga at this point so I read it right when it was released and it really touched me. From then on I became invested in his character, particularly his relationship with Touya which I really dug into and channeled into my Brother animatic. He's been my favorit from then on, and there are many reasons for this.
I think the main reason his character resonated with me so deeply is because I've never encountered a character who hits nearly as close to home as he does. I didn't have the best relationship with my father growing up, and despite it being a different and much less serious situation than what Natsuo lived through, I can relate to and understand a lot of his resentment on a personal level. Many of his one-liners are things that I have said or thought before almost verbatim, so needless to say Horikoshi definitely knows what he's doing.
It is very important to me how Horikoshi goes out of his way to give this seemingly minor character so much development. Every scene he is in, every word he says has so much thought behind it and contributes to his character tremendously, and some of the best examples of this are in the latest chapters with him.
Tumblr media
He has significantly more developent than most of the minor characters in 1a, despite them obviously appearing much more often. This is because whenever Natsuo does appear, he's very outspoken and the scene normally ends up revolving around him in some way.
I also want to talk about his relationship with his family as a whole- one thing about his character that I don't think anyone else has really mentioned before is how humble he is. He grew up in a household where he was neglected and essentially seen as worthless (regardless of his quirk or lack thereof but I have a whole nother essay for that alone), and even Touya wasn't exactly the kindest to him from what we've seen. Despite this, Natsuo was able to forge his own path and become the person he wanted to be. He got through highschool with good enough grades to get into a pre-med program which in Japan is a very hard thing to do considering national standards, not to mention how different the medical field must be with the variety of mutation quirks that exist.
As for humility, I think the fact that he can be proud of Shouto for forging his own path as a hero despite his personal distaste for hero society, and is immediately thankful when he’s saved from a villain by a group of high schoolers. He doesn’t act like he’s better than anyone else because he’s older, or because he won’t forgive Endeavor (quite the contrary, he seems to view his distaste of Endeavor as a shortcoming on his part).
Another thing that I really just adore about his character is how kind and gentle he is, regardless of (or perhaps in spite of) his upbringing. Considering that he's a male character in a shounen manga, this is particularly interesting to me. Out of his brothers he is physically the most similar to Endeavor, but personality-wise the most different. A huge component of this is that he was raised mostly by Fuyumi and continues to be incredibly close to her. Natsuo is a social person and an emotionally driven character, and he is certainly not afraid to speak his mind- if nothing else, he is honest. Compare this to Shouto, who is definitely an introvert and prefers to keep to himself, kind of blunt about things and definitely lacking in emotional awareness. It’s hard to separate Shouto’s personality from lack of socialization as a kid, but even Endeavor shares many of the same traits. Touya is also an emotionally-driven character but in a completely different way, he’s self-serving and angry and driven for revenge. Perhaps if he had a normal childhood Natsuo and Touya would have been much more similar, but Touya’s early signs of mental illness as a kid festered with lack of treatment. Back to Natsuo, he also is very caring and thoughtful, and we really see this most in the 5th light novel, (official translations aren’t out but here’s a link).
We consistently see just how much he cares about the rest of his family (other than Endeavor, obviously). I think this is seen really clearly through his attempts to connect with Shouto. He knows nothing about his little brother but still tries to connect with him in any way he can think of- playing soccer, eating soba, talking with him about his friends and just generally showing interest in his life.
Another interesting point here is that he almost seems to look up to his siblings as being better than him, especially Shouto. This is not in a jealous way, but more self-deprecating as he sees Fuyumi and Shouto letting Endeavor back into their lives and feels guilty and unkind because he is unable to do the same. He is proud of Shouto, but they are different in so many ways that it’s hard to find a middle ground. Shouto is mature in that he is already halfway to a lifelong career and has experienced many dangerous situations, while Natsuo is a college student and years away from helping people on the same level that Shouto does in high school. Inversely, Natsuo is more socially competent and outgoing, while Shouto is sheltered, and has a unique innocence to him. Natsuo is more familiar with their family situation and thus has a more complex understanding and much stronger stance than Shouto, especially because he knew Touya.
He also goes out of his way to try and help Fuyumi and re-iterate how much she means to him (even if it fails, it’s the thought that counts, amirite?). He consistently comes to dinner when Fuyumi invites him, knowingly exposing himself to his pervasive trauma upon seeing Endeavor to allow her to entertain the fantasy of having a happy, normal family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really want to re-iterate here how much of his own pain he puts to the side in just agreeing to show up for dinner. Both times he is visibly uncomfortable and almost upset by Endeavor’s presence as if it makes him anxious (which is understandable), and he is mentally incapable of staying in said situation without freaking out, which he does whenever he can’t escape; the first time when Endeavor puts a hand on his shoulder to stop him from leaving, and the second time mere minutes after an incredibly traumatic near-death experience. (Side note: Endeavor should not be getting up into his personal space like he does, knowing full well how uncomfortable Natsuo is with his mere presence).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He puts his own trauma to the side to help his siblings ,and if that isn’t selfless I don’t know what is.
Tumblr media
With all of this deliberate development and the advent of the Dabi reveal, I am confident that Natsuo is going to play a larger role in the future and will contribute in some major way to bringing Dabi down. If there's one thing I trust Horikishi for it's that he doesn't develop his characters for nothing. There's always a payoff at the end that puts everything in place, even though he plays a slow burn. I'm always scared that whenever Natsuo shows up he's gonna do/say something that's inconsistent with his character so far and disprove one of my theories/assumptions/headcanons about him and every time I am proven wrong.
In conclusion: I love my salty son.
If you want to read even more of my thoughts on him, here's a link to a rediculously long meta about his trauma and emotions:
Thank you again for the ask. I very much enjoyed writing it and I hope you enjoyed reading it as well!!!
I received my English copy of the bnha fifth light novel today and ahhh, the Todo family chapter was so insightful, fun to read, and sad all at the same time. I loved all the little details because they tie into the manga. These are just a few of my random incoherent thoughts and reactions I wanted to share with y'all:
Natsuo reflects that as a child, before Shouto was born, he wanted his father's "love and care" , so "he would act energetic and eager" for attention whenever Endeavor was around. But his father never acknowledged him. BUT, Natsuo is grateful that he had his "warm and caring" mother to "help him cope" with that rejection... UGH!! It's horribly devastating that his first memories are of being ignored by someone who's supposed to love him more than anyone else on this planet.
Natsuo goes on to think about how he felt like Shouto stole his mom from him after he was born because she started giving Shouto so much attention. As an adult, Natsuo understands that she was just projecting Shouto from their abuser, but it still hurt. That makes sense - Rei was the only source of parental comfort and acceptance he received and suddenly she was also gone. He must have felt emotionally abandoned, and even moreso (I imagine) after Touya died.
Speaking of Touya, Natsuo thinks about him in passing and I get the feeling it's painful to think about Touya. That makes sense too, considering why Touya died. In the chapter, Natsuo also reflects that Touya will always be the same age he is in his picture at the altar so it feels like time stands still in that room 😭 😭 😭 UGH!!!
Natsuo is just incredibly angry that his family is broken. He blames Endeavor because he sought out Rei for a quirk marriage, treated them like they don't matter, and abused Shouto.
Natsuo's onii-chan instincts start to kick in as he tries to make small talk with Shouto because they've barely talked. He kicks himself (mentally) for being so awkward but again, blames Endeavor because this is all his fault that he doesn't have a relationship with Shouto...
Meanwhile, Fuyumi really does go out of her way to make a happy family. She and Natsuo dance around each other awkwardly when Natsuo says something angry about their dad and she tries to be positive, trying to not upset the other. This makes so much sense in light of chapter 302 where Fuyumi says she always knew her family was broken but tried to pretend it was all okay. Ahhh. I love that this really ties into that chapter, which hadn't even been out yet at the time this novel was published in Japan. Hori must really guide this author and approve of things beforehand.
The amount of guilt and inadequacy that Natsuo feels because he couldn't do anything to protect his little brother when Endeavor was actively beating him is genuinely awful. That also coincides with his comment in 302 about slugging Endeavor and making him talk to Touya. This poor boy is filled to the brim with unprocessed sorrow and feelings of helplessness and powerlessness. Not surprised either - this is a fairly common reaction for survivors of abuse and dysfunctional families, but it hurts to see Natsuo carry around this pain and misplaced responsibility.
Fuyumi does try to console Natsuo and tells him that his pain is still valid after Natsuo compares his abuse to Shouto's. UGH!!! 😭 😭 I love that even though both Natsuo and Fuyumi are on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to their dad (anger vs. willingness to give him a chance) that they don't dismiss each other. They're actually very considerate of each other's feelings. LOVE IT!! There's a sentence in this chapter about how Natsuo and Fuyumi have been together in this all this time and he can't hide his feelings from her. She knows him too well. YESSS, that sibling bond ♥
Fuyumi sets it up so that Natsuo and Shouto spend some alone time together while she cooks. Natsuo tries to play ball with Shouto but they just end up falling in the koi pond. Later, Shouto says he was caught off guard when Natsuo threw the ball because that was the ball Natsuo and their other siblings would play with all the time and Shouto always watched them and wished he could play too. 😭 😭 😭 😭 Natsuo sheds a few tears fndjdjsjsjdj. What could have been... 😭 😭 😭 This is literally a grieving process for them both - they lost their childhoods. There are no do-overs. And Natsuo blames himself for not going out of his way to invite Shouto to play. Like, Natsuo... You were also a baby 😔 don't be hard on yourself.
Shouto's baby-of-the-family genes kick in too when the soba he and Natsuo were making is a major failure and he's feeling emo about it. His siblings chuckle at him and tease him. Shouto is like, "THIS IS A TRAGEDY IT'S NOT FUNNY" 🤣 but smiles with them anyway.
Endeavor is almost crushed by a villain with a King Kong quirk lmao. The siblings watch this on the news. After Endeavor wins, Shouto goes back to mourning his soba. lmao.
At the end the siblings wish this is just the first of many get togethers!!! And I hope so too!! 💞
How The Police Found Out Dabi’s Identity
Dabi, after being captured by the police: Look, I promise this isn’t some evil ploy. I just want cold soba. Please, I’m begging you. I’m having withdrawals and it won’t be long before-
Police Officer #1: Before what?
Police Officer #2: Don’t entertain him, he’s obviously just fucking with you.
Police Officer #3: I don’t know about that, I mean, look at his face.
Police Officers: *look at Dabi’s face, all seeing how pale and sick he looks*
Dabi: I’m telling you the truth, I swear. Please. You don’t understand. The last time this happened I almost killed my entire family!
Police Officer #1: *terrified*
Police Officer #2: *doesn’t believe him*
Police Officer #3: *conflicted*
Dabi: Look, just call Shouto, he’ll tell you. He may not know who I am at first, he thinks I’m just some random villain, but he’ll know once you tell him.
Police Officers: *conflicted but agree to call Shouto anyways*
*Shouto is on the phone*
Police Officer #2: Yeah, we’ve got Dabi in custody claiming he’s going through “withdrawals” from not eating cold soba. I know, we’re wasting your time, sorry kid-
Shouto: I’ll be right there! *hangs up*
Police Officer #2: *looks at phone in confusion*
*Later, when Shouto shows up at the station*
Shouto: Hi, I’m here to see Tou- *clears throat* the villain, Dabi.
Police Officer #3: Yeah, he’s right in there. *points at interrogation room*
Shouto: Okay, thank you.
*walks into interrogation room*
Shouto: Hello Touya. *angry voice*
Dabi: Look Sho, I’m sor-
Shouto: No. First I find out you’ve been alive this whole time and didn’t tell any of us and that you’ve become a villain to kill dad and didn’t even think to ask us if we wanted in- and now I find out that you’ve been having withdrawals. You know you have to have to eat cold soba regularly! You know what happens to the people in this family if we don’t.
Dabi: *sighs* Yes, I know. It wasn’t on purpose. I swear.
Shouto: Ok Touya, but I’m still mad at you for not telling us about you being alive and your plan to kill dad. We all would’ve joined you.
Dabi: *disbelieving noises*
Shouto: Anyways- back to the topic at hand. We’re getting you cold soba right now. Come on, let’s go.
Dabi: We can’t just leave, I was literally arrested, Shouto.
Shouto: *Pulling Dabi out of the interrogation room* We can and we will.
Police Officers: Whoa whoa what are you doing?
Shouto: I’m taking my brother, Touya to the hospital. You see he has this condition that makes him act like other people. That’s why he was acting like Dabi. But, you can clearly tell that he’s Touya since he has the same disease as all of the other members of our family.
Police Officer #2: What disease?
Shouto: Well, it’s not a very known disease, in fact, we’re pretty sure it’s only the Todoroki’s that have had it, but it’s very serious if not properly taken care of. When we go without cold soba for a certain amount of time, we first start to go through withdrawal symptoms almost identical to drug withdrawals, and then we end up being very violent to whoever is near us until they give us cold soba. If we don’t get cold soba, there is a huge possibility that a blood bath will occur. The only way to treat the disease is to eat cold soba regularly, and to never skip *stops talking to glare at Dabi* like Touya here did.
Dabi: I already said it wasn’t on purpose.
Shouto: Yeah, okay. *sarcastic*
Police Officer #1: *Getting increasingly more terrified as the minutes go by* Ok, well your brother is free to go then, you should get that cold soba as soon as possible.
Shouto: Thank you. *drags Dabi out of police station*
Police Officer #2: What the hell, Mike! You just let Dabi go- the wanted villain Dabi!
Police Officer #1: Steve, you really think I give a shit? You heard what he said! If he had gone to jail everyone would be dead right now. There is no cold soba in jail!
Police Officer #2: *sighing* Ok, you’re right, I’m sorry.
Police Officer #1: It’s okay Steve, you’re just doing your job.
Police Officer #3: Ok, let’s just pretend that never happened. Who wants donuts?
I can’t believe Touya even survived, like why did Hori even have him live? Like sure he’s dying a slow death now but the last time we saw him he had like one arm gone, his other arm you could see the bones, one of his eyes was gone he was basically a skeleton….he should have died on that battlefield! Realistically no one survives that!(I get it’s fictional so I guess anything is possible but still) Though honestly to me it feels like Hori doesn’t stay consistent with his injuries and consequences to said injuries - Enji loses and arm, gets a punctured rib and sure his feet are severely burnt so now he’s wheelchair bound, but All Might suffered sever injuries and look at him! Mirko lost limbs look at her!
On another note, I want to know what lotion he used for his hair because my gosh how that shit managed to stay intacted all the way till the end of the battle is amazing 😂🤣 I mean they probably shaved it off to fit him in that tank thingy but still!
I don't know why! I supposed he really wanted to have him talk with his family one last time? Maybe he imagined him telling Shouto he likes soba and thought, "That is genius. I must put it in no matter what. ".... Bruh, at this point, was it even humane to keep him alive like this? No amount of painkillers could help him deal with this amount of damage. It must hurt like hell, every minute. How is he even conscious to begin with???
Horikoshi is really bad with injuries and treatment consistencies. At times, it feels like medicine has progressed centuries ahead, but sometimes it is not that different? With all the quirks, there must be talented doctors doing wonders, like Recovery Girl! We see how crazy prosthetics are with Miruko
Oh, and speaking about Miruko. I really hated the way he treated her, making her constantly lose limbs and adding more and more prostethics without any recovery or rehabilitation. It feels almost pornographic to me. And the fact he does that with a female character like 🤨 Writer's barely disguised fetish⁉️
Characters in manga never get bald, no matter if they were thrown in a fire or had brain surgery. Their hair is intact. Except Deku, but that honestly was so careful, like they shaved just a bit, and it looked almost stylish... Be brave and make your character get a buzzcut... bald... make them wear a wig. idk. I like realism in small things like this. It's not that scandalous
