His friends teased him for it, but he didn’t mind. He liked talking about her, he liked telling everyone that he was her boyfriend, or all the little details about her that he loved so much. Even she teased him for it. 

“I’m starting to think you have a crush on me,” She told him one day, looking up at him with the smile he liked so much. 

They had been dating for two months at that point. Shotaro could only smile. 

“I have such a big crush on you,” he told her, wrapping his arms around her waist. “How could you tell?”

How could he help himself? Not only was she adorable, but she was sweet, the sweetest girl he’d ever met. She always cared for him, even when they were just friends, she made him feel valued, loved. When they got together, he thought it was the best day of his life. Soon enough, he realized his life would only get better. 

When he first confessed his love, and she said it back, he decided he’d do everything in his power to keep her. To keep his light.

They sat on his couch together, his arm wrapped lazily around her shoulder, pressing his cheek against her arm. She Kissed his forehead, smiling as their TV show played. Neither of them were really paying attention to the plot, really just enjoying their cuddle time. 

YN’s eyes threatened to close every moment, sleep creeping up on her as Shotaro wrapped his arms around her. His gaze was fixed on her, looking over at her sleepy figure with a smile. He felt his own need for sleep creeping up on him, trying to keep his heavy lids open, trying to look at his pretty girlfriend even more. 

She snuggled into him more, letting her eyes fall shut, as shotaro adjusted around her, rubbing her shoulder gently. 

“You’re so pretty,” he whispered into her hair. All he got back was a little hum, YN was too tired to really say anything back. He knows she would’ve called him pretty too. “Have I told you how perfect you are?” 

“You told me this morning,” She sleepily replied, a little smile on her lips as shotaro wrapped his arms around her, resting her head against his chest. 

“I just want you to know,” He mumbled, lips brushing against her ear before he kissed her cheek. He heard her soft hum. “I love you,” he told her, it was probably the tenth time he’d said it in the past hour. 

“I love you too,” she mumbled, sleep close to overtaking her. 

“I love you more,” he whispered against her skin. “So, so much,” his voice was muffled, she barely picked up on what he said, close to falling asleep completely. He knew this, and picked her up gently, wrapping his arms around her carefully and carried her to their bed. 

He laid her down carefully, seeing her sleep-heavy eyes looking up at him, a little smile spread across her cheeks. He draped a blanket over her, before climbing in next to her, and snuggling up next to her. They fell asleep in each others arms, dreaming each other into the morning.

wonbin, being the polite man he is, nods and thanks her, but you can see the shift in his demeanor.

you looked away, not wanting to watch any more of their interaction. you hate feeling this way—jealous, insecure.

“hey,” he murmurs, his voice gentle and concerned.

“what’s going on? you seem upset, did you not like the set?”

you force a smile, but it doesn’t quite reach your eyes.

“it’s nothing,” you lie, trying to brush him off.

“the set was amazing as usual, im just feeling a little tired..”

wonbin wasn’t convinced, he knows you too well. he gently tugs you closer, his other hand coming up to cup your cheek, forcing you to look at him.

his dark eyes search yours, and when he speaks again, his voice is firmer, more insistent.

“tell me what’s wrong, baby..”

the concern in his voice breaks down the walls you’ve been trying to build, and before you can stop yourself, the words spill out.

“that girl… she was all over you. and she knows we’re together, wonbin. it just… it made me feel like…”

the moon painted the skies with a glow, and despite the cold winter air, you can feel the warmth coming from everyone enjoying the winter carnival.

it was even more beautiful when the first snow began to fall. you extended your hand to feel the gentle caress of the snow against your palm. a white blanket slowly started to form beneath you and you can't help but think about the boy who is sitting beside you as you watched the scenery unfold. his eyes told you that he's equally amused and contented with everything that is happening at this exact moment.

this boy will be loved by millions and you were certain. just like the snow, he is pure, gentle, and he brings happiness to everyone whom he comes across to.

"anton," you spoke, fingers now fiddling with the fur of your coat, "do you know the myth about the first snow?" the male in question knitted his brows in confusion, "i think i know the most famous one about true love." he answered, perplexed at your sudden inquiry but obviously showing interest. "ah yes, the one about true love. very famous." you replied. anton looked at the evening sky, admiring the way how the moon lights up while you both try your best to ignore the frantic beating of your heart without the other one knowing.

"indeed. witnessing the first snow with someone you like may just grant you and your beloved true and eternal love. it's my favorite." sighing with a heavy breath, you continued "but i have another favorite myth. when the first snow falls, you can tell any lie and the deities will forgive you." he smiled, admiring the way how your eyes shone as you spoke.

anton admitted that he was helplessly in love with you a long time ago, and realizing that this may be the last holiday that you two would be spending together is breaking him beyond repair.

"i'm in love with you, anton." you confessed.

your words laced with sincerity and hope, made anton's heart to swell with warmth. he wanted to hear you say those words for so long, but with everything at stake, he can't tell you what has always been his truth- his heart belongs to you too.

you tried to meet anton's gaze, but he held his head down to prevent you from seeing the tears that will soon escape his eyes.

he balled his fists to prevent himself from giving in. he tried his best to ignore what his heart is telling him to do. he thought about how he worked hard, how he convinced his parents to let him pursue his dreams, and how he endured everything to get to where he is now.

if he tells you how he feels, there's no way that you'll both be content of just knowing that the both of you felt the same. you will want to love each other. surely, you'll agree to dating him in secret, right? but he can't do that you. if he loves you, he would give you the world.

because when he loves someone, he will always be there for them. he will give his all, and he will not ask for anything in return. that's the love that you deserve, and with him pursuing his dreams, with the distance that will soon stand in between, he's afraid that it won't work at this time.

his eyes found yours, making his knees tremble and his lips lost for words- but he had to speak, he had to lie, and even if the deities will forgive him tonight, he knows that he can never forgive himself for the words that will come out of his lips. "y/n, i don't know what to say, i-"

"lies. i just wanted to see your reaction." you laughed heartily, trying to sound alright "i was just trying to make this night more memorable so you won't forget me, after all, it would be difficult to get hold of you in the future." you continued, hiding the silent shattering of your heart into millions of pieces.

"how can i forget you?" you're my first love. he wanted to add. "we'll still see each other when i come home. i'll still send you memes and playlists. i won't forget you, i promise." anton swore.

"i will be your biggest fan, toni. now, go to korea, live your dream and make me proud, okay?"

his eyes darkened before he reached out for an embrace. for a moment there, you swear that you almost saw his soul breaking, just like how yours did.

you lied. you have been in love him since you can remember. he lied. he was lying all the time. he didn't want you to know that you owned his heart.

neither of you will ever know, that the lies you told each other that night will never be forgiven by the deities who listened.
