"Fair enough, I can respect that. Though now you've really piqued my curiosity about what goes on behind those studio doors," Kye said with a wink. "As for the runaway bride, sometimes it happens. I guess?" He paused, debating how much to divulge about the family drama. Some vagueness seemed wise for the moment. "We met, and ended up married in Vegas. Long story short, I’m just trying to make things work.." Before he could press for more details about her dance studio, Kye's phone buzzed with an incoming call that is business related. "Looks like I'm being summoned. Give me a moment.” Answering the call, he realized he would have to cut this short and deal with the trouble. “Hate to cut this short, but duty calls.” He pulled out his card and handed it over. “My info is all there if you wanna hang out. Have a great day, Shivani.” With a wave and a smile, he walked away.
COMPLETED
Someday works for me. I'm not really in the mood to share a sob story since we've only just met. But a change of scenery...that makes sense.
Oh wow so not just a change of scenery then, since you've got family...I suppose? A runaway bride though, that sounds interesting. Care to share?
The dance studio is pretty incredible, I love it and in terms of stories--I don't like to embarrass any of my students or clients, my lips are sealed mister.

At least they were both on the same page that they could trust Shivani and know she had a better judgment on her head. "You're right with that point." In her opinion, this encounter was going well than she had thought. At first, she initially expected it to be awkward right off the bat, but she felt completely comfortable in Benji's presence so far and she could only hope that it continued throughout the night.
"It happens to the best of us, but sometimes it's warranted to be a little silly. It's a let loose and let go type of situation." She paused and then held a finger up as to add, "But I am self aware that some people are not meant for it due to their two left feet. It's a shame, but I'm sure they have another calling, you know?" Kimberly then chuckled softly before listening attentively to his response as she got to know him. "No way! I was interested in learning to surf too, there's this girl who I befriended that knows how to hit the waves and so I asked her for some lessons and she agreed, so I'm excited! Basketball is fun too and as for me, athletic wise, I used to a lot of volleyball rowing up and then eventually I shifted and committed to eskrima which is a form of Filipino martial arts."
Shrugging nonchalantly, she then added a few more of her other hobbies outside of sports, "Aside from the obvious shopping and eating out, I love to party, karaoke, gaming and ultimately djing. I used to do it when I was younger and in the night life scene." Leaning into her seat, she then added, "I will say that work does take up most of my days, so any moment I have for myself is a blessing."
it was good to hear that the woman in front of him enjoyed shivani's company as much as he did. after all, she had a good heart and she was one of the best friends he'd ever had. he made a mental note to thank her for this date later. that was, if it continued to go as well as it was. "i get it. shivani knows what i'm looking for and so i didn't think she'd steer me in the wrong direction." and well, it certainly didn't seem as though she was. he knew he couldn't say that for sure though since the date did just officially start.
"that's what i've heard. i guess it's not so much that i'm against doing it as i am of making a fool out of myself." though, if anyone could laugh at him, it would be himself. "as for my free time, i like to say i do some athletic things. i'm learning to surf and i go out on a run every morning. i'm all for a friendly game of basketball too." he confessed, "but outside of athletics, i just like to have fun. you know, hit the karaoke bar and grab a drink whenever. what about you? what do you do outside of dance?"

A new episode of Roswell New Mexico titled “Missing My Baby” airs tonight (August 1) at 8PM ET/PT on The CW, and to promote this week’s episode, we were able to speak with actress Rekha Sharma who plays Dr. Shivani Sen in the current season. Sharma is no stranger to TV audiences, especially fans of genre television, having been seen on such series as Smallville, Supernatural, Star Trek: Discovery, Battlestar Galactica, V, and The 100; she was also recently seen on Showtime’s Yellowjackets and is in the upcoming series The Imperfects.
“Missing My Baby” aims to be a big one for her character of Shivani and you can read our interview below.
KSITETV’S CRAIG BYRNE: Would you say that tonight’s episode of Roswell New Mexico is where Shivani is finally out with it about why she is in Roswell working with Liz?
REKHA SHARMA: It does seem like she’s much more open, and certainly, it has the most exciting moments that we’ve had so far, in terms of making this discovery and acquiring this technology.
How much of Shivani’s story arc was laid out for you when you signed on?
REKHA SHARMA: I had a really rough sketch of the whole thing, and I was looking forward to seeing the specifics on how it unfolded as we went along. These scripts are so fun.
Is it rewarding as an actor to play a role that can see through other people’s BS?
REKHA SHARMA: She does! She really looks, and listens, and sees where people are coming from, I think.
You’ve been in so many acclaimed TV programs. What made this show and this character special for you?
REKHA SHARMA: There was something about it that just leapt off the page for me when I got the audition. This woman is so full of life. She felt like a female Tony Stark to me, with all the money and the intelligence and the desire to help forward humanity by working with incredibly intelligent people. And she’s just got a drive to her and a wit. That’s really fun. I hope that all comes across.
For those unfamiliar with Shivani, what has she done in the current season of Roswell New Mexico so far?
REKHA SHARMA: She has made an alliance with Liz that was not welcome at first, but she has through her sincerity and her ability to listen, and her warmth and kindness, been able to forge a real connection and some trust, even though she’s doing some strange things and riling people up a little bit.
How frustrating is it for her that with all of her money and connections, there are certain things that she cannot save?
REKHA SHARMA: Absolutely heartbreaking. I think it’s part of her wisdom and her intelligence, but it’s her blind spot all at once if that makes any sense. That’s life. It doesn’t matter how much money you have, there are things you can’t change, and certainly not with money. You might be able to change more with other things.
How far would she go to save her daughter?
REKHA SHARMA: I think she’s willing to go further than she even knows.
Would she possibly put the aliens in danger to save her?
REKHA SHARMA: I think she has a true enough heart that she would never choose anything like that on purpose. But in her heartache, grief is intense… the possibility of losing somebody you love is absolutely blinding, and I think she might miss some things.
What was it like to film in New Mexico?
REKHA SHARMA: I loved it. It was challenging with the elevation and the lack of humidity, so climate-wise, it was quite an adjustment coming from Vancouver. The people in the town of Santa Fe are so lovely. I did a lot of hiking; the nature there is gorgeous, and I’m definitely a nature-oriented person. The crews on this show, and the cast… everyone was just such a breath of fresh air. Really authentic, warm people. It was a really special time.
Will we see Shivani’s wife again before the series is over?
REKHA SHARMA: You’ll have to wait and see!

Things that did NOT Spark Joy-4x08
So, an episode for the Malex fans! *deep sigh* How we doin’ fam? If you answered “expected nothing but the show still managed to dig lower than that and let me down” you’re not alone! Come into the salt mine and we can all yell into the void together. If you’re looking for some specks of light, those can be found here, otherwise, welcome to the trash bin.
Starting off strong with Clyde being the knock off Jones with none of the delightfulness Jones brought to his villainy. I think we should all appreciate NDP a little more right now for what he brought to Jones.
Love that m*ria is sticking with the ghost theory on how to contact Alex instead of IDK, talking to Isobel the mind-walker about how might be the best way to reach out to Alex. Also, it’s so telling that last episode and this one the only things they have to connect to Alex are references over a decade old that have never been mentioned to the audience before, and a sweatshirt from the Air Force. Tell us the writers know nothing about Alex besides his character outline without saying it 🙄
The mention of Kyle is something I find interesting because Kyle was able to reach out to Deep Sky and get info that they hadn’t heard from Alex, and I just want to know why no one else did this LONG before now, like oh IDK, when someone DIED or when Michael was SICK and lost his powers, and they still didn’t hear from Alex. it’s dumb that he’s still in Mexico but he clearly HAD to be, because he would NOT allow anyone to keep this info about Alex from Michael. But also, WHY isn't Kyle allowed to be part of the "let's go after Alex" plot when he is the ONLY one who has been a friend to Alex this whole goddamn show?! WHY isn’t Kyle, their DOCTOR, allowed to be in on the sick alien plot when HE was the one to care for Isobel when SHE was sick? It would have been great to see him and Michael being bitchy at each other in a reluctantly fond way, and we could have gotten to FINALLY see our Science Bros! team of Liz, Kyle, and Michael actually working together instead of just being told about it later. What a waste of Trevino’s character and the dynamics we’ve been begging to see.
I always love having Rosa back, but BOY did it not make sense to have to have all those scenes in NY just for Shivani to make the connection about Rosa/Rosalinda when hearing Liz mention and talk about Rosa all season and then her showing up in this episode could have accomplished the same thing in much less wasted screentime while also giving us little tidbits about Rosa! Also, having her have to be the “adult” and “mentor” everyone else through their struggles even though she’s barely out of her teens and they are all 30-ish is irritating to say the least. I would rather see her getting lessons from Michael about science and how to try and locate humans instead of aliens (or at least Alex’s necklace since I thought her whole thing was based on the resonance of the thing that makes the alien cells and glass do the glow-y thing) instead of being the “wise sage” for m*ria and Michael while the show walks back m*ria’s loss of powers so they can keep inventing things for her to do because otherwise she’s again needless to the story. This “new power” of seeing other dimensions should belong to Rosa. She’s tuned into the alien soundwaves, is it such a stretch for her to see light waves related to alien things too?
Also, lets take a second to mention that instead of having Alex’s best friend and Michael’s sister who can pop into people’s minds and reach out over distances to contact people, looking for Alex, we are stuck with Michael’s ex gf who has actively made Alex’s life worse while manipulating him and continuing the cycles of abuse and being made to feel like he’s not allowed to have feelings about things that directly, negatively affect him, and someone whose ONLY scene with Alex is a flashback from someone else’s POV where they were in the same room as teens. I cannot express how much I hate this.
I see Dallas and Bonnie have been gone for less than 24 hours and they are already forming search parties which honestly feels just...SO insulting to Alex at this point.
Liz saying she’s been leaning away from the science legit made me laugh out loud because like, WHERE?! WHEN?! Even when she was teaching she was teaching science and I hardly thing saying that “fringe science” is her most authentic self makes the point the writers think it does when we’ve seen all the underhanded, unethical things she’s done, including taking an outsider actively looking to exploit alien stuff for her own purposes to see the pods without running it by ANY of the pod squad first. And all in an effort to control Max’s bodily autonomy. Really? THAT’S what we want to call her “authentic self”? I have always liked Liz but the writers are doing her sooooo dirty and a lot of that boils down to the cyclical nature of the only conflict her and Max are allowed to have and never, ever learn or grow from. Also, Shivani was RIGHT and Liz was being incredibly hypocritical given what she did to figure out what happened to Rosa, to get Max back, using unknowing and unconsenting human test subjects, the list goes on.
Speaking of Liz and the choices the writers are having her make, lets talk about her deciding that Michael is too volatile (though when Max impales her with something in a fit of uncontrolled rage at someone else it’s fine) to be told about the man he is in love with and LIVING WITH is missing under suspicious and CLEARLY alien circumstances. I mean, what the actual fuck? And Max was right, he SHOULD have put up more of a fight, and WE should have gotten to see Michael throw a well-timed “what if it was LIZ” back in Max’s face. But we apparently cannot have nice things. The fact that m*ria and Rosa went along with this idea solidifies that they are the LAST people who should be involved in this search. NO ONE who truly cares about Alex would try to exclude Michael from the equation .
Soooo, did Clyde take Dallas’ car and joyride around and then abandon it somewhere random? Because it’s not the spot of the quicksand. Is it? Neve rmind I don’t care about Clyde.
I’m no longer confused about how all the aliens ended up in Caulfield if they’re just leaving their pods all over the place where anyone can find them. That broken pod Shivani had came from Mexico so whose pod was it? It couldn’t be Tezca’s because she was already brainwashed so the pod didn’t do it, and Sonya got put in hers. Is there another alien out there? We will never know unless they cram that into the end of the season too which honestly I wouldn’t put past them. But also, Liz has worked with the pod fluid before so how did she in all her genius not clock that it was being used in whatever Shivani was doing that she was working with?
Sticking with my theory that m*ria creepily keeps hair from Alex though supposedly there was a beanie involved in the scene, though her riffling through Alex’s stuff without telling Michael isn’t much better. And again we’re back to what exactly Rosa’s power is and if it even works on humans without the alien cells, or how she has been “practicing” her skills without any aliens to work with.
So did m*ria lose her powers or not? I thought the serum destroyed the alien cells that were killing her brain so HOW is she manifesting new powers? How is she having an alien “puberty” that brings new powers when the fully alien pod squad didn’t have anything like that? Max and Iz actually had to work really hard to do telekinesis which supposedly as we were told this season, ALL aliens can do and it isn’t a “special additional power”. They really just could not think of ANYTHING for her to do but be in the very middle of the Malex story? Why didn’t they ship HER ass off to Mexico for multiple episodes? It’s not like any of that ended up really being that much about Kyle’s family, Most of it could have been an email and they could have sent her to go look for what’s her face with Eduardo off screen instead of benching Kyle.
DO NOT walk into the desert without shoes. Ever. If the wildlife isn’t enough of a deterrent, the millions of stickers and prickly plants should be. And after filming for so long in NM you’d think someone would realize this is a terrible idea, but they also film in Santa Fe and made this into a hippie, “connect with the earth” thing which is not too surprising I guess.
Where did Michael come from in that absolutely flat area that we see in all the shots is barren of life? Maybe he has his own dimensional portal he isn’t telling anyone about? Or just the audience doesn’t know about because it would explain how they get from place to place without any time passing. It’s another thing they discovered and utilize off screen.
Liz has worked in enough labs, I feel like “put away the sensitive research projects” should be like, second nature basic lab rules and safety at this point, but doubly so for ALIEN stuff in a lab that we’ve seen other people in and out of.
I made a few other posts about it but this storyline with Isobel is so random and doesn’t really fit in this season since it’s focused on Jones and what’s going on with Tezca and Jones is dead now. Also, in Sonya’s form, she was a WAY better/more enjoyable villain than Clyde. Also also, does Isobel really need another mother figure?
I have to say that while I didn’t particularly mind Bonnie as a character and have enjoyed some of her moments, I did not notice or care that she was missing this episode. These guest characters should never have eaten up as much time as they did and it’s clear now that things don’t feel “missing” when they aren’t here the way they do when characters like Alex, Kyle, and Rosa are missing. Maybe if they had fewer guest stars, they could have paid to have Trevino’s contract upped to be in all the episodes. 🙃
Did they really show us Dallas picking up the alien necklace, one that if Michael has been wearing the other half and they’ve been talking at all he should know belongs to Alex, only for him to leave it behind? Did he run into Alex and Alex told him to leave it there? Who is checking on them in this interdimensional cave? Who knows?! Not fucking us, ever, that’s for damn sure.
Okay folks, it’s time for the main bone of contention with this episode. I feel like it’s been talked about a lot at this point by me and by several people far more eloquent but there are a few things that NEED to be addressed.
Let’s start with the incredibly insulting “this one’s for the Malex fans” line in an episode centered around Echo drama we’ve all seen multiple times before, and literally everyone undercutting Malex’s relationship by keeping information about Alex away from Michael, Michael having to apologize for being upset about caring for Alex and that this information was kept from him (which we’ll get to in a bit), that very half-asses “fan service” moment with the song while using m*ria in every scene and forcing her into the middle of this relationship when no one, but ESPECIALLY not her, should be the middle-man between Alex and Michael when they have a “cosmic” connection that should be the center of this story. I made another post about all the contradictions happening to force her into this plot so Alex for some reason ISN’T in the center of it, but it feels particularly egregious after 6 weeks of no Alex to get told we were having a Malex episode only to get Echo and m*ria. I WISH I could enjoy that scene but centering it in the Pony and around what Mimi would do and having m*ria there keeps it from being really personal and connecting to Michael and Alex. And I don’t WANT to see Michael strumming a guitar in front of m*ria again with Alex only present as a ghost, not visible, and reaching out to his “cosmic soulmate” through Michael’s ex. It’s GROSS and it’s certainly some kind of baiting of the audience to promote it specifically for the Malex fans when this is what they delivered.
This was mostly folded into the point above but I’m going to talk about it some more because I’m disgusted and furious. The deliberate choice to stick m*ria into the middle of Malex is just, so, so gross and an absolute betrayal of cosmic soulmates story. There is no real good reason that Alex couldn’t be reaching out to Michael through things that connect directly to THEM and not random moments from more than a decade ago with two people who have not lifted a finger to lend a hand to Alex since the show started. We wanted Malex to exist outside of their bubble in that we should be seeing them in group scenes with their friends and being a normal couple like Liz and Max and Isobel and Anatsa were allowed to be, just casually interacting with each other and with the group. NOT that other people needed to be in the middle of what should be personal moments for MALEX.
Even with forcing other people into the story, they are STILL undercutting Malex’s importance to each other at every turn with assumptions about Michael cheating, and Michael having to say he’s been too busy thinking about leaving the planet (a sensitive subject for him and Alex specifically) that he missed Alex trying to reach out. But wait, didn’t he JUST say he was thinking about Alex the whole time? How can it be both? 🙄 Which circles back to the show TELLING us Michael has been thinking about Alex this whole time without SHOWING us all these moments. If he was thinking about Alex every day, we should have seen every scene have a little something. Him sending a text, or leaving a voicemail or touching his alien necklace or making casual asks about if it’s weird he hasn’t heard from Alex or if he’s just making a big deal out of nothing. It's extra annoying because the set up for Alex being gone is actually fairly easy to deal with, without having to have Michael not notice Alex is missing! Have Michael realize right away, try to go to him, get told they need to wait and make a plan, have him start carrying lights or something for Alex to communicate with him, and go undercover with the dark triad to get answers! You get pretty much the SAME STORY but this one centers Alex and Malex in Michael's story, and keeps Alex involved when Tyler wasn't filming! If they were going to pull the "you need to be here to help pull Alex back" line, then they needed to have done that as soon as Alex went missing and then had that be the reason Michael infiltrated the dark triad so the whole season is about Michael doing what he has to, to get Alex back instead of the show just acting like Alex missing is normal and no one cares.
Finally, lets talk about Michael and anger because whooo boy was it cathartic to see him lay out NOTHING BUT FACTS in incredibly justified anger at being kept in the dark. I don’t think it’s wrong for him to say he shouldn’t have hit Max or even said he was wrong for saying what he did about m*ria in the way he did, but he was NOT acting like a child, it was NOT a tantrum, and he actually did not need to apologize for being upset, OR forgive any of them, at least not right away. Painting it like Michael was being unreasonable when we have seen Max verbally and physically lash out for FAR less with no apologies when it came to Liz also undercuts Malex and their love. Max is allowed to raise the dead for Liz, Liz is allowed to steal a body for parts and have Alex intimidate people and lie about it being military related and commandeer the hospital’s surgical suite to operate on Max expressly against his wishes to not be saved, and that’s all well and good and romantic but Michael is the unreasonable one? And that’s just season 1 and the start of season 2! Max literally killed himself bringing Rosa back, out of the blue when no one even knew where he was or what he was going to do. At least Michael has a whole crew of people there! They could test tying a rope around a rock to see if they could pull it back up and then let him go down and at least look around! But no, Michael is just being a hot-head and needs to slow down and wait before acting rashly. And all that is bad enough but for a character who has spent his whole life having to hide and temper his emotions and be constantly told that he’s too much of this, not enough of that, never, ever good enough and a victim of near constant, ongoing childhood abuse and neglect, and continued emotional neglect as he got older and more and more trauma heaped on top? It’s just more people invalidating his feelings, and pretending like his anger was not justified. And it’s especially gross with m*ria who he doesn’t allow to even think about apologizing (because she can never do any wrong ever, as we’ve seen before).
I’m sure there’s more but it’s late and I’m so, so tired. Looks like we’re going back to forgetting about Alex again next week. Can’t wait 🙄🙄🙄

As Shivani mentioned Axel, Nina’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Oh wow, that’s awesome!" It seemed like everyone around her was finding their person or someone promising enough to be that for them. Nina had been so enthralled in her world of ballet that she hardly gave anytime to dating anyone besides a soccer player for two years and a businessman. Both served their purposes, but they weren't anyone she envisioned spending the rest of her life with. "I’m really happy for you! And I totally understand the fear of being too happy...” Reality could quickly humble you at a moment's notice. It was wise to be a bit pragmatic when it came to certain things in life. "So... what is it about him that you like so much?"
It was encouraging for Shivani to see how dedicated of an instructor Nina was. She truly thrived in this environment and Shivi could see how much it meant to her to have students who truly enjoyed the classes. “You’re doing an amazing job,” Shivani told her with reassurance, hoping the other knew what an irreplaceable facet she was to the studio. As the other spoke about what was going on now in her life she found herself nodding along and resonating with it even if she didn’t come right out and say it. Shivani too had been almost thrown for a loss when her accident had occurred but finding the studio truly had saved her in a lot of ways. “I understand that,” she nodded with a smile before reaching over and squeezing the other’s hand. “Just take your time, you will figure it out of course..” Shivani smiled when the other tossed the conversation back in her direction before shrugging. “I’ve been doing okay—of course the current happenings around the city are a little unnerving but I’m trying to focus on the good things like…I’m not sure if you’ve noticed him popping around the place a bit more, but Axel and I finally got together after dancing around each other for years,” she said with a laugh before shrugging. “I’m happy but almost—afraid to be too happy, you know?”

Flash Fiction Friday: Strange Lands
@flashfictionfridayofficial @cawolters @jaimistoryteller @inexorableblob @goblin-writer
It has been six months since the whispering fire changed Ember’s hair and eye color, and she still couldn’t get used to it for real. There was always this moment in the morning when she wondered who was this in the mirror. She just finished dressing when the door burst open and Larik and Shivani stormed inside. Larik got a bunch of parchments in his arms and the broad smile he wore told Ember that he found something interesting. “Good morning, I can’t recall I invited you in.” She dropped a playful bow combined with a death glare. “Like I haven’t seen you naked before...”, Shivani huffed with a grin. She fell into the bed. “Please sit down. Don’t you like some tea as well?” “Oh that would be nice.” Ember knew Shivani good enough to know the elf ignored her sarcasm on purpose, so she turned to Larkin instead. “And why do you bring all these papers in my room?” “These are the travel reports of High Mage Ashten from the circle in the south. He came back from his travels to the continent in the south-west weeks ago and we just got the copies. You have to read this.” Before Ember could answer he already pulled a parchment out and handed it over to her. “Why should I? I am not interested in some strange lands and their boring politics.” “You will be interested in this”, Shivani promised her. The growing grin in the other woman made Ember curious. “Fill me in.” “They have necromancy! Their only magic is necromancy. They don’t know about our kind of magic. Ashten traveled to an empire that soon will be ruled by an empress once the ruling emperor dies.” In a fast movement Ember grabbed the parchment. Her eyes scanned over the paper so quick it Shivani was barely able to follow. “What do you know about this empire?”, Ember asked. “Well, Ashten described the heir as an enchanting young woman with a weird behavior. She seems to have a habit to hiss at people like a snake and he deems her an impressive manipulator for her age. Someone who will be able to hold everything together if she acts wisely.” Ember spat out disgusted. “I wanted to know more about their necromancy. How did it come it is their only magic? What strange land doesn’t know of elemental magic?” When she didn’t get an answer Ember lowered the parchment and found her friends as confused as she was. “We have no idea but, by the goddess, I don’t want to ever find out.” Shivani shivered visibly. “Cowards. It could be useful someday. And you know as well as me the wrong kind of people already can do a lot of damage with elemental magic. You have to see the strategic advantage necromancy can give us in case the wrong people rise to power.” “Why is it always about fights with you?”, Larkin questioned as he got up to grab her by her shoulders, “Sometimes an advantage isn’t worth the risk.” “Sometimes the risks are worth the lives they might save.” For a long moment, Larkin and Ember stared at each other. They got disturbed when Shivani got up. “Ok, I leave you two alone. This is nothing I can take on an empty stomach. And you two can do whatever you want.” “Shi!”, Ember yelled after her friend with a small fire orb in her hands. Much to Shivani’s luck Ember was a little to slow to catch her before the door closed, so the orb hit the door instead of the elf’s head. Larkin’s chuckle didn’t make it any better. “It’s all your fault.” “No, it’s your temper’s fault.” With a grin Larkin showed the last time at the tiefling court he took the parchment from her. “And you won’t go to see this continent until we proved we can take care of ourselves during missions.” With a silent prayer and her eyes aimed at the ceiling Ember tried to push down the growing feeling of frustration. She hated it when he acts as her voice of reason.

“So you’re suggesting that I should potentially question a victim of a recent kidnapping?” Gwen countered in a disbelief tone. It was simply her way of telling Axel to choose his words wisely, especially when they were in the precinct no less. He truly needed to compose himself if he didn’t want to dig his own grave in this whole investigation. If it weren’t for Shivani, she probably wouldn’t have believed him until she received some sort of circumstantial evidence. However, to hear his admittance and for him to cooperate rather than walk out and cause a scene made it clear to her that this lead was a dead end.
“There’s two things I want to clear up on top of your alibi during each incident that took place.” Tossing the notepad onto her desk, she crossed her arms and leaned back against her seat. “The maps and diary. Are you willing to share that with me for review? So I could cross reference it against all that has happened. I need to make sure all our bases are covered when it comes to your innocence." As she met his gaze, she then pointed at him and said, "And I need you to lay low. No more mouthing off or expressing your opinions on the City. You never know how others might take it, especially when emotions and turmoil are high. I get that you're still grieving the loss of your father, but that doesn't mean you have the right to echo your opinions that could potentially bring harm people."
Axel leaned forward, his gaze meeting Gwen's. The weight of the situation pressed down on him, a familiar tension coiling in his gut. He understood why he was a suspect—his past plans for Wilmington weren't exactly a secret anymore. But in this particular mess, he was truly innocent. The irony wasn't lost on him. He wasn't the villain, yet here he was, prime suspect number one. He took a deep breath, trying to keep his composure. "I promise you, it wasn't me. I don't have anything against Benji. If anything, he should be the one who should be holding the grudge." The words tasted bitter in his mouth. Benji, his childhood friend, the one person who knew the depths of his twisted plans and still stood by him. Guilt gnawed at him. If he could grab ahold of the people responsible for Kim and Benji's kidnapping, he would wring their necks. The thought of anyone hurting Benji made his blood boil. "I get it. The evidence looks bad. But I swear on everything that's dear to me, I had nothing to do with this mess."
He was in a tight spot now, but he would never back down on this. Not when he was innocent. The irony of the situation wasn't lost on him. Here he was, pleading his innocence when he'd been guilty of planning far worse. But this time, he truly hadn't done anything wrong. The frustration of not being believed, even when telling the truth, was maddening. He needed to clear his name, not just for himself, but for his best friend and everyone else who mattered to him. He couldn't let this destroy everything he'd built—everything he'd worked for. "I'll do whatever it takes to clear my name. Just tell me what you need."
