ELVEN TRANSLATION HELP!
**MAJOR VEILGUARD SPOILERS AND THOUGHTS**
So I have a really huge thought thing I'm gonna post eventually but this one dialogue between Davrin and (spoiler) at the end I LOVE and I am trying to figure out what is said exactly in elven.
Spoilers below cut:
Solas: "You are Davrin of the grey wardens, and judging by your vallaslin, you are Dalish. I expect you have been urging the team not to trust the Dread wolf, based on the stories you heard around the campfire in your youth.
Davrin: What story should I tell? The one about the Dread Wolf creating the blight when he and Mythal slaughtered the Titans?
Solas: Have you told the Dalish?
Davrin: Why? So it can spread and make the humans blame elves for even more things our ancient ancestors did? Sharing that story would get a lot of people killed. So the best thing I can do right now, as a Warden and a Dalish elf, is stop the blight and clean up your mess.
Solas: Mala shivanis ar athim.
***
Mala - yours
Shivanis - ???
Ar - "I" first person pronoun
Athim - humility
WHAT DOES SHIVANIS MEAN? I remember Morrigan mumbling something about a word with that similar beginning in Inquisition in the temple of Mythal but I need to replay the scene. I'm also wondering if it's in the written media somewhere?
Davrin is practical and wise and GIVES IT BACK TO SOLAS SO GOOD I about fell outta my chair. Lord, he humbled him quick (our beloved egg does need some humbling).
Translation help would be appreciated as I really wanna know what Solas said back, I think he was humbled/humiliated by the truth in Davrin's words.
So this dialogue was literally one of my favorite. I will be honest I have had a distaste for the Dalish since Origins because of how my city elf was treated by them (tldr it reminded me a lot of some of the attitude I got as a mixed kid irl lol but I digress), but Davrin is literally the embodiment of the type of Dalish person I can relate to.
He didn't fit in with the other Dalish but he DOES NOT diminish them the way say Sera or Solas would (and yes I love Solas still) but Davrin is also true to himself AND wise and he grows with your Rook.
Idk man, I LOVE LOVE this dialogue between Solas and Davrin.

"Fair enough, I can respect that. Though now you've really piqued my curiosity about what goes on behind those studio doors," Kye said with a wink. "As for the runaway bride, sometimes it happens. I guess?" He paused, debating how much to divulge about the family drama. Some vagueness seemed wise for the moment. "We met, and ended up married in Vegas. Long story short, I’m just trying to make things work.." Before he could press for more details about her dance studio, Kye's phone buzzed with an incoming call that is business related. "Looks like I'm being summoned. Give me a moment.” Answering the call, he realized he would have to cut this short and deal with the trouble. “Hate to cut this short, but duty calls.” He pulled out his card and handed it over. “My info is all there if you wanna hang out. Have a great day, Shivani.” With a wave and a smile, he walked away.
COMPLETED
Someday works for me. I'm not really in the mood to share a sob story since we've only just met. But a change of scenery...that makes sense.
Oh wow so not just a change of scenery then, since you've got family...I suppose? A runaway bride though, that sounds interesting. Care to share?
The dance studio is pretty incredible, I love it and in terms of stories--I don't like to embarrass any of my students or clients, my lips are sealed mister.

At least they were both on the same page that they could trust Shivani and know she had a better judgment on her head. "You're right with that point." In her opinion, this encounter was going well than she had thought. At first, she initially expected it to be awkward right off the bat, but she felt completely comfortable in Benji's presence so far and she could only hope that it continued throughout the night.
"It happens to the best of us, but sometimes it's warranted to be a little silly. It's a let loose and let go type of situation." She paused and then held a finger up as to add, "But I am self aware that some people are not meant for it due to their two left feet. It's a shame, but I'm sure they have another calling, you know?" Kimberly then chuckled softly before listening attentively to his response as she got to know him. "No way! I was interested in learning to surf too, there's this girl who I befriended that knows how to hit the waves and so I asked her for some lessons and she agreed, so I'm excited! Basketball is fun too and as for me, athletic wise, I used to a lot of volleyball rowing up and then eventually I shifted and committed to eskrima which is a form of Filipino martial arts."
Shrugging nonchalantly, she then added a few more of her other hobbies outside of sports, "Aside from the obvious shopping and eating out, I love to party, karaoke, gaming and ultimately djing. I used to do it when I was younger and in the night life scene." Leaning into her seat, she then added, "I will say that work does take up most of my days, so any moment I have for myself is a blessing."
it was good to hear that the woman in front of him enjoyed shivani's company as much as he did. after all, she had a good heart and she was one of the best friends he'd ever had. he made a mental note to thank her for this date later. that was, if it continued to go as well as it was. "i get it. shivani knows what i'm looking for and so i didn't think she'd steer me in the wrong direction." and well, it certainly didn't seem as though she was. he knew he couldn't say that for sure though since the date did just officially start.
"that's what i've heard. i guess it's not so much that i'm against doing it as i am of making a fool out of myself." though, if anyone could laugh at him, it would be himself. "as for my free time, i like to say i do some athletic things. i'm learning to surf and i go out on a run every morning. i'm all for a friendly game of basketball too." he confessed, "but outside of athletics, i just like to have fun. you know, hit the karaoke bar and grab a drink whenever. what about you? what do you do outside of dance?"

A new episode of Roswell New Mexico titled “Missing My Baby” airs tonight (August 1) at 8PM ET/PT on The CW, and to promote this week’s episode, we were able to speak with actress Rekha Sharma who plays Dr. Shivani Sen in the current season. Sharma is no stranger to TV audiences, especially fans of genre television, having been seen on such series as Smallville, Supernatural, Star Trek: Discovery, Battlestar Galactica, V, and The 100; she was also recently seen on Showtime’s Yellowjackets and is in the upcoming series The Imperfects.
“Missing My Baby” aims to be a big one for her character of Shivani and you can read our interview below.
KSITETV’S CRAIG BYRNE: Would you say that tonight’s episode of Roswell New Mexico is where Shivani is finally out with it about why she is in Roswell working with Liz?
REKHA SHARMA: It does seem like she’s much more open, and certainly, it has the most exciting moments that we’ve had so far, in terms of making this discovery and acquiring this technology.
How much of Shivani’s story arc was laid out for you when you signed on?
REKHA SHARMA: I had a really rough sketch of the whole thing, and I was looking forward to seeing the specifics on how it unfolded as we went along. These scripts are so fun.
Is it rewarding as an actor to play a role that can see through other people’s BS?
REKHA SHARMA: She does! She really looks, and listens, and sees where people are coming from, I think.
You’ve been in so many acclaimed TV programs. What made this show and this character special for you?
REKHA SHARMA: There was something about it that just leapt off the page for me when I got the audition. This woman is so full of life. She felt like a female Tony Stark to me, with all the money and the intelligence and the desire to help forward humanity by working with incredibly intelligent people. And she’s just got a drive to her and a wit. That’s really fun. I hope that all comes across.
For those unfamiliar with Shivani, what has she done in the current season of Roswell New Mexico so far?
REKHA SHARMA: She has made an alliance with Liz that was not welcome at first, but she has through her sincerity and her ability to listen, and her warmth and kindness, been able to forge a real connection and some trust, even though she’s doing some strange things and riling people up a little bit.
How frustrating is it for her that with all of her money and connections, there are certain things that she cannot save?
REKHA SHARMA: Absolutely heartbreaking. I think it’s part of her wisdom and her intelligence, but it’s her blind spot all at once if that makes any sense. That’s life. It doesn’t matter how much money you have, there are things you can’t change, and certainly not with money. You might be able to change more with other things.
How far would she go to save her daughter?
REKHA SHARMA: I think she’s willing to go further than she even knows.
Would she possibly put the aliens in danger to save her?
REKHA SHARMA: I think she has a true enough heart that she would never choose anything like that on purpose. But in her heartache, grief is intense… the possibility of losing somebody you love is absolutely blinding, and I think she might miss some things.
What was it like to film in New Mexico?
REKHA SHARMA: I loved it. It was challenging with the elevation and the lack of humidity, so climate-wise, it was quite an adjustment coming from Vancouver. The people in the town of Santa Fe are so lovely. I did a lot of hiking; the nature there is gorgeous, and I’m definitely a nature-oriented person. The crews on this show, and the cast… everyone was just such a breath of fresh air. Really authentic, warm people. It was a really special time.
Will we see Shivani’s wife again before the series is over?
REKHA SHARMA: You’ll have to wait and see!

Flash Fiction Friday: Strange Lands
@flashfictionfridayofficial @cawolters @jaimistoryteller @inexorableblob @goblin-writer
It has been six months since the whispering fire changed Ember’s hair and eye color, and she still couldn’t get used to it for real. There was always this moment in the morning when she wondered who was this in the mirror. She just finished dressing when the door burst open and Larik and Shivani stormed inside. Larik got a bunch of parchments in his arms and the broad smile he wore told Ember that he found something interesting. “Good morning, I can’t recall I invited you in.” She dropped a playful bow combined with a death glare. “Like I haven’t seen you naked before...”, Shivani huffed with a grin. She fell into the bed. “Please sit down. Don’t you like some tea as well?” “Oh that would be nice.” Ember knew Shivani good enough to know the elf ignored her sarcasm on purpose, so she turned to Larkin instead. “And why do you bring all these papers in my room?” “These are the travel reports of High Mage Ashten from the circle in the south. He came back from his travels to the continent in the south-west weeks ago and we just got the copies. You have to read this.” Before Ember could answer he already pulled a parchment out and handed it over to her. “Why should I? I am not interested in some strange lands and their boring politics.” “You will be interested in this”, Shivani promised her. The growing grin in the other woman made Ember curious. “Fill me in.” “They have necromancy! Their only magic is necromancy. They don’t know about our kind of magic. Ashten traveled to an empire that soon will be ruled by an empress once the ruling emperor dies.” In a fast movement Ember grabbed the parchment. Her eyes scanned over the paper so quick it Shivani was barely able to follow. “What do you know about this empire?”, Ember asked. “Well, Ashten described the heir as an enchanting young woman with a weird behavior. She seems to have a habit to hiss at people like a snake and he deems her an impressive manipulator for her age. Someone who will be able to hold everything together if she acts wisely.” Ember spat out disgusted. “I wanted to know more about their necromancy. How did it come it is their only magic? What strange land doesn’t know of elemental magic?” When she didn’t get an answer Ember lowered the parchment and found her friends as confused as she was. “We have no idea but, by the goddess, I don’t want to ever find out.” Shivani shivered visibly. “Cowards. It could be useful someday. And you know as well as me the wrong kind of people already can do a lot of damage with elemental magic. You have to see the strategic advantage necromancy can give us in case the wrong people rise to power.” “Why is it always about fights with you?”, Larkin questioned as he got up to grab her by her shoulders, “Sometimes an advantage isn’t worth the risk.” “Sometimes the risks are worth the lives they might save.” For a long moment, Larkin and Ember stared at each other. They got disturbed when Shivani got up. “Ok, I leave you two alone. This is nothing I can take on an empty stomach. And you two can do whatever you want.” “Shi!”, Ember yelled after her friend with a small fire orb in her hands. Much to Shivani’s luck Ember was a little to slow to catch her before the door closed, so the orb hit the door instead of the elf’s head. Larkin’s chuckle didn’t make it any better. “It’s all your fault.” “No, it’s your temper’s fault.” With a grin Larkin showed the last time at the tiefling court he took the parchment from her. “And you won’t go to see this continent until we proved we can take care of ourselves during missions.” With a silent prayer and her eyes aimed at the ceiling Ember tried to push down the growing feeling of frustration. She hated it when he acts as her voice of reason.

“So you’re suggesting that I should potentially question a victim of a recent kidnapping?” Gwen countered in a disbelief tone. It was simply her way of telling Axel to choose his words wisely, especially when they were in the precinct no less. He truly needed to compose himself if he didn’t want to dig his own grave in this whole investigation. If it weren’t for Shivani, she probably wouldn’t have believed him until she received some sort of circumstantial evidence. However, to hear his admittance and for him to cooperate rather than walk out and cause a scene made it clear to her that this lead was a dead end.
“There’s two things I want to clear up on top of your alibi during each incident that took place.” Tossing the notepad onto her desk, she crossed her arms and leaned back against her seat. “The maps and diary. Are you willing to share that with me for review? So I could cross reference it against all that has happened. I need to make sure all our bases are covered when it comes to your innocence." As she met his gaze, she then pointed at him and said, "And I need you to lay low. No more mouthing off or expressing your opinions on the City. You never know how others might take it, especially when emotions and turmoil are high. I get that you're still grieving the loss of your father, but that doesn't mean you have the right to echo your opinions that could potentially bring harm people."
Axel leaned forward, his gaze meeting Gwen's. The weight of the situation pressed down on him, a familiar tension coiling in his gut. He understood why he was a suspect—his past plans for Wilmington weren't exactly a secret anymore. But in this particular mess, he was truly innocent. The irony wasn't lost on him. He wasn't the villain, yet here he was, prime suspect number one. He took a deep breath, trying to keep his composure. "I promise you, it wasn't me. I don't have anything against Benji. If anything, he should be the one who should be holding the grudge." The words tasted bitter in his mouth. Benji, his childhood friend, the one person who knew the depths of his twisted plans and still stood by him. Guilt gnawed at him. If he could grab ahold of the people responsible for Kim and Benji's kidnapping, he would wring their necks. The thought of anyone hurting Benji made his blood boil. "I get it. The evidence looks bad. But I swear on everything that's dear to me, I had nothing to do with this mess."
He was in a tight spot now, but he would never back down on this. Not when he was innocent. The irony of the situation wasn't lost on him. Here he was, pleading his innocence when he'd been guilty of planning far worse. But this time, he truly hadn't done anything wrong. The frustration of not being believed, even when telling the truth, was maddening. He needed to clear his name, not just for himself, but for his best friend and everyone else who mattered to him. He couldn't let this destroy everything he'd built—everything he'd worked for. "I'll do whatever it takes to clear my name. Just tell me what you need."

Do you think general audience shares your view about sanjeevani? As in, will it be another IPKKND 3?
IPK3 was doomed from the start thanks to many things: fandom, the hate against Shivani, the pressures and expectations for Barun’s return/character, the out-there-nonsense plotline..... Sanjivani has been received much better, both by the public and the initial critical reviews I’ve read. Ratings-wise, it’s held steady as a rock at 0.9 for many weeks now. So I think it’s more of a time slot issue than anything else. It just cannot hold up against the super melodramatic Choti Sardarrni on Colours; hence the plot changes to make SJ more like it, tonally. But it’s not gonna help, coz the watchers of Sanjivani aren’t in it for that kinda drama - they’re here for SidIsha and the platonic bonding (the residents’ gang, Shashank + residents, Juhi + residents, Shashank + Juhi professionally) and the medical stuff. And instead they’re getting everything but that. God knows what its fate is gonna be post Jan 10th, but it’s def more of a success than IPK3, seeing that only lasted 70 eps before being yanked off air unceremoniously.

"As you should." He mused, after all, he didn't give out compliments often. So, it was always wise to take it when he did. As she began to call him on, he smirked, quite amused that she had noticed that. "Well, look at that, I guess I wasn't the only one taking notice." Although, very likely in a different way. When she gestured for him to sit, he didn't hesitate; pulling the stool out and plopping onto it. "Don't gotta tell me twice." He mused, turning to the bartender, he quickly ordered a whiskey. Turning back to Shivani, the male laughed, "Don't thank me yet." He warned her, just as the bartender set his drink down. Picking up the glass, he bought it to his lips, "You never know what I might bring to your evening. You might crave boring and quiet by the time I'm down."
“That is high praise then, I’ll take it.” Shivani chuckled at his words before taking a sip from her own drink before glancing at him with a raise brow, "but then should I assume that I also held your attention and interest since you were at the dance class for a while whenever you'd come by to pick her up.” She had said this mainly as a joke because she knew with their waiting area being part of the studio, anyone who came to drop someone off or pick them up would inevitably be seated there for a bit as they watched. A grin was on her face as he held up his hands in defence which had her giggling softly before nodding at him and gesturing for him to take a seat with her. “I’m not expecting anyone tonight so I’ll happily take your company. Thank you for saving me from what would’ve been a boring evening Ryat,” she told him with another grin before clinking her glass with his and taking a sip.
