GROUND ZERO FOR ALL THE WILDEST, BEST HARDCORE IN THE SHINJUKU AREA.
PIC INFO: Spotlight on Shinjuku LOFT in Shinjuku, Japan, c. mid 1980s, and reportedly the "Mecca of the Tokyo hardcore punk scene" where countless memorable gigs were held. 📸: Roger Armstrong (R.I.P.).
DISCOGS MINI-OVERVIEW: "Live venue in Tokyo, Japan. Open since 1976, it has hosted many of Japan's independent musical groups. Officially named just Loft, it is almost always called "Shinjuku Loft" to distinguish it from Loft/Plus One, Naked Loft and Loft A, also run by Loft Project."

A LOOK AT JAPAN -- IN THE CATACLYSMIC YEAR OF "WHY."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on the Shinjuku special ward of Tokyo, Japan, c. 1981, plus the world-shattering "WHY" mini-LP/12" EP by English hardcore punk band DISCHARGE, released by Clay Records in May of the same year.
And, for the record, I remain absolutely certain that Japanese hardcore punk band THE CLAY named their band after Discharge's homegrown record label. I mean, c'mon, man, it's pretty damn obvious!! Japan are DISCHARGE nuts!!
Dis nightmare still @$%*!#& continues!!
