I read up to volume 14 of Shimizu Reiko's Kaguya Hime, so I'm now halfway through the story.
Some opinions under the cut, about the plot and f/f status of the story (spoilers)
The series has taken a turn towards a lot of the recurring male characters being into Akira to mirror the tale of Kaguya Hime and her various suitors. For some of them, it's quite sudden and theorized by a few characters as them still being used as sacrifices to the moon people and potentially part of a bigger plan.
The scale of the story is now pretty ambitious and it can feel a little bit over the place with the switching to different places and characters.
When it comes to f/f, the content is either older women being into Akira and trying to get their hands on her, while she's very much not into it, and girls around Akira's age who are enamoured with her and who she likes in ambiguous ways.
Mayu's love for Akira is painted as kinda removed from sexual one at points: she talks about her wish for them to stay together forever as virgins and it feels like she has a bit of issues around sex and "purity". She seems to want a platonic or asexual relationship in part because of being disgusted by what her mother did but then she also has some pretty kinky thoughts at times... Like wishing for a BDSM-styled lady to whip her instead of a random dude, when she's threatened with corporal punishment in one scene.
Outside of that, Gyokurei was killed and with her, the only f/f content not involving Akira has died down. There aren't many significant interactions of female characters outside of those with our protagonist. Maggie, one of the earlier recurring female characters, has been missing for a while after somehow losing off-screen a gas mask she had to protect herself from poison and being sent to a military hospital. Some recent plot points seem to hint that she's probably not alive anymore.
So it's not exactly super heavy on that front. Honestly at that point, it really feel like there's no way for much more to happen and Akira has been very much centered on Yui (main male character) as her love interest, which feels like it's probably not gonna change, although who knows given some of the twists in this story.
I'm still intrigued by the general plot and since I love the artstyle, the illustrations and little f/f scenes we get, however small they are, I'll try to read to the end.
But depending on how much the "every dude is in love with Akira" takes front focus and how some characters are treated (like Mayu being relegated entirely to annoying comic relief or Satton sometimes seeming like he's being flanderized into an Angry Black Man stereotype), I might also drop it.

My best friend and I are trying to decide which manga to read together (previously enjoyed: Kuroko no Basuke, Banana Fish, Teppu!, Yasha, Happy!, and Eve no Nemuri: Yasha Next Generation). This is one of the titles we're considering: Shimizu Reiko's Moon Child.
Moon Child is the story of a ballet asshole and the amnesiac twink he hits with a car and assumes responsibility for under the strict aegis of car law. He has an ex-girlfriend who will cut you if you remind her she used to date him. He is failing to live up to his adolescent promise. There are at least two identical twinks who appear to the amnesiac twink after the ballet asshole gives him absinthe. The twink has telekinetic powers. This is in the first chapter.

Hi 🪻
For the manga asks: 1,8,19 and 20
hii ! thanks for the ask
1. Your top reads of 2024
Okayyy I thought a lot and these are my picks (part one)
Onna no Sono no Hoshi / Karaoke Iko by Yama Wayama. Soo fun and refreshing in the current manga landscape, I love a guy with glasses
Definitely Kaze to Ki no Uta bc I read the second half this year and it was devastating in every sense it’s just a great manga I think if you’re okay with pain you should read kazeki at least once. I’ve read a bunch of Takemiya stories this year
Banana Bread no Pudding by Yumiko Oshima really shocked me with how many things she understands about the human condition without needing to tell them in a “digestible” manner if that makes sense.. it’s not even that I just don’t understand how someone could come up with Banana Bread no Pudding. So good.
Dungeon Meshi was big this year, I read it super fast and had a lot of fun!
Himitsu The Top Secret by Reiko Shimizu ohh. It’s a good story.
Initial D by Shuichi Shigeno, I’ve read so much of it and I will keep doing that
Litchi Hikari Club by Usamaru Furuya - Hear me out. I don’t even feel much for litchi I mean it was good! but what it says and how it’s told is now woven into my creative mosaic so I think about it constantly heh
8. A recurring theme in the stories you’ve read
I think I've read a bit too much about death and grief
19. Your highlights of the year ! (could be something you learned, a cool style, a community you joined, an adaptation you liked, anything)
I think my highlights are short stories and vintage manga!
and I'll save 20 for the next one...
