Friendly reminder that you don't have to be trans to be a trans icon.

It's unfinished but idc. Had this in mind for a while then a "Samus isn't trans" thing showed up and rustled my jimmies.

Firstly, her being trans doesn't stop her from being a woman. This is just more representation not "taking away a strong female character." Second, yes, in the canon of the games she's cisgender, but that doesn't matter because it's fiction anyway. You can provide all the evidence you want to argue anything about a story, but any additional information can be added or assumed on the audience's side if they want to. It's even encouraged to do so if that makes the story better. Third, it straight up makes the story better. The idea of the first game was just a standard "the best bounty hunter in the galaxy fights the most dangerous monsters in the galaxy." And then, on a whim, they creators thought "Hey let's make this generic guy a girl." That is the one thing people remember most about those early days of Metroid. Samus' gender was a plot twist. It was something that said, "Hey! Look! It's not some guy, it's a woman! Aren't you surprised?" And then the next thought that comes to mind might be, "Why are you surprised? What about this is surprising to you? A woman went and did all that and you're actually caught off guard? Why?"

It directly challenges our presumptions about gender. And this is the lifeblood of the entire franchise. Samus consistently finding herself up against the worst the galaxy can throw at her and then overpowering them against all the odds while someone somewhere sits in disbelief. (The audio logs in the Prime games, Adam the computer in Fusion.) This is a marvelous story for a trans character!

A TALK WITH “SHEZOW” CREATOR OBIE SCOTT WADE

On Friday, we told you about the new Hub Network cartoon series, SheZow, about the exploits of a boy who leads a double life as a superhero. A lady super hero. The creator of this unique children’s show is Obie Scott Wade, who was kind enough to answer some of our questions about the show’s inception, its place in superhero mythos, and the controversy that’s already brewing over it.

NERDIST: How did you come up with such a unique idea for a TV show, much less one aimed at kids?

OBIE SCOTT WADE: I first had the idea when I was a kid. I grew up loving superheroes, and one day was struck with the question. What would happen if I put on a superhero power ring that was meant for a woman? Would I get her powers? Would I suddenly be dressed in her super clothes? And I assumed the answer was yes. As a kid, I was a huge fan of TV in general and I especially loved Bewitched. From a very young age I dreamed of growing up and creating my own TV show about somebody with a magic secret, and it became SheZow.

N: In the first episode, Guy is actively against girly things; at what point in the idea process did you decide to comment on gender roles in society?

OSW: I didn't decide to comment on gender roles. I just set out to make a comedy. Commenting on gender roles was never my goal. I just wanted to make a TV show that I'd imagined as a kid. I did, however, need Guy to be a rough-and-tumble boy in order for the conflict to be present in the story when he changes into SheZow.

N: What was your pitch like to The Hub and how much of the concept changed from conception to now?

OSW: We originally pitched the series to Ted Biaselli at The Hub. He was our biggest supporter there. Ted's advice was invaluable. The concept never changed throughout the entire production process but the execution and the approach to storytelling did morph over time. And that's a good thing. We stayed fluid during the story development phase and tried new things. Some things worked, some didn't. It really developed as we went along.

N: There's already some controversy brewing over the show; how do you react to some of the fervor around it?

OSW: I would just ask that people actually watch the show before they develop an opinion about it.

N: At some point, will Guy's sister, Kelly, get to be a superhero? Maybe one that's traditionally a dude?

OSW: Good question. I want to say "yes" but you'll just have to wait and see.

N: Do we get to learn about the history of the SheZow persona a bit more? More of Aunt Agnes and her adventures?

OSW: Yes, we do. There is a time travel episode in which Guy meets some of the SheZows past including 1920's Flapper SheZow, Wild West SheZow and the original SheZow whose name is She-anderthal.

A hero needs good villains, so who are some of SheZow's rogue's gallery people can look forward to seeing? I think we have a great group of comedic villains like Candy Rapper, a rapping candy bar, and Mocktopus, a silly sea monster with a tendency to mock people. But one of my favorites is Tattoozala. He's the world's oldest tattooed villain, who possesses the power to bring to life the creatures tattooed on his body. By uttering the phrase "Inkubate" he summons these monsters and they attack SheZow.

N: What do you hope audiences, and maybe specifically young male audiences, get out of watching the show?

OSW: Laughter. The best times in life are those filled with laughter. SheZow's just a comedy that's finding its place in the superhero universe, and I'm happy to learn that it's appealing to both boys and girls.

She loves to steal junk food also. She's a alien. She is a goo woman not from this planet she is made from goop and cheese. But her cheese is poisonous to some humans but not to some humans she trusts.

It makes them sick. She has the power to cheesify to turn items in to cheese with her hands. She also has a cheese form with feet so she can blend in with expensive cheeses so she can't be caught.

She also has chipadilla claws and on scorpion chipadilla like tail. She also has a cheese whiz like nozzle on her head where she can also spray cheese out the top of her head. And her hair is also made of 3 cheeses but the orange is 3 cheese.

And the inside of her hair that is green is the goop. She also loves steal chipadillas even though she can cause weird storms in Megadale that causes chipadillas to fall like rain and make it snow Fizz Burp too. But is low dose toxic to humans.

She can make a cheese goop army and can make any type of cheese with her powers. She can change into a human form and cheese beast form.

She can shoot cheese whiz out the top of her head but it's like losing blood and she needs to eat junk food or cheese to regain her health back. It acts like pepper spray and is called the queen's share.

She wants to make earth's moon and sun into cheese. Since the planet she was on was destroyed by a unknown force or was it?

SheZow Happens

SheZow Intro so after getting a higher quality way of watching this i can finally make out some more of the words in the intro and it's not the worst but it's still pretty hard to make out and goes a bit faster than i would expect

SheZow Happens things i liked- Guy and Maz are voiced by the same people who voice Aerrow and Finn from Storm Hawks which makes me feel at home in a way A main character is named Guy "OH MY GODDESS!" I say that all the time The show wastes no time boring you with set up and gets right into the superhero stuff, which, build up is nice, but it's hard trying to rewatch superhero shows when you've already watched them once before, I dread restarting Ben 10 bc there's so much boring junk first screaming as a power Guy is almost totally down with being SheZow the moment the car comes into play, cars get the girls I guess Kelly says, "You know what girlfriend." I like the heels

Things I Disliked- Guy is named Guy but his sisters isn't named Girl Aunt Agnis is dead that that's a total nonstarter for any conversation even though she was Shezow? The show just totally glosses over that part SheZow is suddenly a child and not a fully grown woman and no one bats an eye not even as a joke Guy starts transforming before he actually says "you go girl" The ears look weird The computers name is Sheila and not Shel-ai, missed opportunity Computer is rooting for the cop Dad's a cop Sheila says something like, "Holy ship of fools." and I don't know how that's a joke "Oh great, SheCow coming to steal all the glory again." rude af come on man. "clean up after ShePlow."

Final Thoughts- Good for a first episode, can't say the opener was very great. When I first saw this episode I thought there might be a bit of a superman thing or a Miraculous Ladybug thing about identities and such but alas. I think it's entertaining, but there wasn't much to get out of the first episode.

this post is long overdue, but incredibly necessary. fork (squigglegigs) has been active on tumblr since 2011. she’s gone on and on about how she’s been a responsible adult in the many child/teen-targeted fandoms she’s in, but while she’s been befriending minors as young as 14, she’s also been consuming NSFW works of children just as young. below is a detailed account of how she’s been doing this since 2013 and still does it today. a google doc will also be listed if that’s easier to read.

Fork clearly knew about and supported this blog. She reblogged non-NSFW on her main blog (because it wasn’t “that pinecesty so it can go here”, implying that she had a secondary blog on which she did reblog the pinecest art) and mentioned doublepines several times in other posts. These posts confirm that Limey was the person who operated doublepines, such as a post reblogged from the doublepines account where Fork calls DP Limey in the tags.Here is Fork liking a

She has several pieces of Randy Cunningham Ninth Grade Ninja art reblogged on her main account that depict a 14 year old character in risque positions/outfits. The artist who drew this piece is hyperdolk, and Fork has several other pieces of their art reblogged. A simple google search will find that this artist was infamous for drawing NSFW between Randy and another minor.

ENJOYS/SUPPORTS NSFW ART OF MINORS (SECTION 2)

This section spans from 2018 to today.

In 2018, Fork liked porn of the ship Montacroix, two OCs from her Suh Sire Project, one of which belongs to Fork. Her character who is in this art, Merl, is at least 15 and, at most, 17. The other character is listed as being 17 on the Official Suh Sire page. Fork would have been 25 at the time. (video evidence of her liking FOUR pieces is in the NSFW section of the google doc). 

Limey creating pedophilic NSFW art which Fork then enjoys is something that continues to this day.

Limey currently runs a tumblr account called gan-man in which she posts NSFW art of April and Donatello from the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series. April is canonically 16, and Donatello is canonically 15. 

Limey posted a page of NSFW doodles of the two minors having sex in August 2020. Fork liked this post from her main blog, squigglegigs. Fork is 27, Limey is 29. They are both almost twice the age of these characters. (video, image evidence is provided in the NSFW section of the google doc)

FRIENDSHIP WITH SEVERAL MINORS

Fork has maintained several friendships with actual minors from at least 2017 continuing to today. For safety and privacy, no minors will be named in this document, regardless of whether they are now 18+ or not. However, even with anonymity it is obvious who several of these minors are due to their popularity and association with Fork. We ask that you do not attempt to discover their identities or harass these people in any way over these allegations. 

Fork has been friends with two tumblr users beginning in 2017. At this time, Fork was 24 years old. These two users were 14 and 17. Fork had a private chat with these two minors and glamorized the relationship to outsiders. The group had its own name, received fanart, etc.

Fork is friends with several other minors as well. Several collaborators on her Suh Sire project would have been minors when she included them in her project and had them design characters for her to use.

Her guyslikeus discord had members as young as twelve. Askguyslikeus was a BMC ask blog which has some NSFW-ish content. Fork was at least 24 at the time of its creation. 

In response to a question asked about the chat, she: acknowledges that there are 12 year olds present, acknowledges the NSFW content, does not attempt to discourage other 12 year olds from joining, and basically says that anyone above the age of 10 is welcome to join.

In her invite-only Discord group chats upwards of half of the members were minors, some being as young as 14. Unfortunately only first-hand accounts of this are available, as these group chats are now deleted.

Fork continues to involve herself in fandoms targeted at children/teens and mostly populated by minors, such as: Gravity Falls, Be More Chill, Trolls, TMNT, SheZow, etc. While nothing is inherently wrong with being an adult in these fandoms, Fork befriends minors in these fandoms, then turns around and consumes porn of characters around the same age.

The NSFW evidence for this is present in the google doc. I recommend you either save a copy of it or this post in the off chance that Fork is able to remove it somehow.

TD;LR: Fork is a grown woman who continuously participates in fandoms targeted at children and teens, befriends several minors through those fandoms, and then turns around and consumes porn of child/teen characters the same ages as her young friends.  The way she uses her platform to befriend minors while consuming NSFW porn of minors secretly is deeply concerning and, frankly, should not be tolerated.

Yup, we watch Pee Wee’s Playhouse in this house and we will always watch it. We will not explain any double entendres nor ‘heard any good jokes lately’ to those too young to understand them. We will enjoy what we’re given and ponder the philosophy of Penny cartoons.

Early in the process of drawing Neil. I could have stopped there, hooked up with a gallery, and asked for a million dollars. Sad thing is someone would have paid it. 

Sadder is there are people who think nothing of tossing life changing money like that around but they won’t use it to change the life of someone like me who could do amazing things after that life change. 

Not bad in the scope of how I feel I can do with my skills, not a shimmering star but not bad. The fivehead thing is what irks me and reminds me why I trace a lot. 

It’s like I got an El Greco thing going on and that’s not bad either. 

What pencils I used doesn’t matter, they’re artist quality and I generally want to improve my color pencil skills and hair drawing skills. A big problem I have with hair is literally getting lost. So I should probably pick some hairy reference pics to use. I should do some of the exercises in Andrew Loomis and Jack Hamm’s books. 

If there is an arting thing you struggle with the best thing to do is more of it. 

And I read someone’s interesting idea on Shezow yesterday and commented that they should get that idea train back on track. 

Don’t self doubt your idea trains. Read their signals, note them down somewhere, use them as you need them. Every plot bunny has it’s hutch and they will find each other.

OK, I JUST found this show...

It’s about a guy who gets a power ring to turn into a super-hero. Here’s the catch: The superhero is a girl named Shezow.

Tuned into Netflix today and found this for the first time. It apparently first aired in Australia in 2013, but somehow I only found out about it four years later. (God-damn conservative social mores!) It’s awesome enough that I’m using it as a teaching tool for my daughter to explain how Daddy is going to transition into a woman.

Only to find out it got cancelled after a single season because of those ASSWIPES in the so-called “One Million Moms” and the American Family Association decided they were going to piss all over a kids show!

Now I don’t just want Ever After High or the Avatar series or My Little Pony to straight up openly have a lesbian couple for representation purposes, I insist one of them do it because these entertainment juggernauts need to stick their thumbs in the eyes of these bigoted assholes!
