It honestly means so much to me that Sherlock & Co had Sherlock state that he was AuDHD because Sherlock is literally what got me to start researching ASD/ADHD and I realized after much research that I was AuDHD. It changed my whole world and validated so much of my life to learn that and made me understand why I do things a certain way. It’s also made my parents understand, it’s been in our family for a very long time (based on the behaviors of my family members).
It just means a lot that this character that I’ve adored for so long and relate to so much, openly states being AuDHD. I honestly can’t even put into words how happy that makes me. I feel like other adaptions of Sherlock have skimmed over it but haven’t really spoke openly about it.

Inktober No. 26 - 'I never knew daylight could be so violent'
Sherlock knows daylight can be overwhelmingly violent because he is autistic and has sensory issues. It takes a lot of time, silence and darkness to recover from a sensory overload.
My first work in the 'Sherlock & Co' universe.
From the @whumptober promptlist for Inktober 2024.

I am going to fight everyone who has turned Sherlock Holmes into this edgy, rude, arse of a character. This man is kind, caring, sympathetic, and knows how to interact with people (even if he'd prefer to avoid doing so).
I get the whole genuis-who- can't -relate- to -the -way- normal -people- function, but y'know what, he's not condescending about it. He doesnt necessarily think himeself to be above the masses. He admits to being beaten without throwing a tantrum about it.
Being a genuis doesn't mean or necessitate being cold and unfeeling

I have autism, but not in the Shaun Murphy/Sheldon Cooper/Spencer Reid way, but in the Gregory House/Sherlock Holmes/10th Doctor way

I'm normal. I'm SO normal. In fact I'm so normal that I totally don't freak out whenever people (myself included) say "no shit" because I think "no shit, Sherlock" and that's a Sherlock reference and I love Sherlock why would you even say something like that ahahahaha

I've been working my way through the ACD canon and have started watching the Granada series.
I've seen people people call Sherlock autistic and I've seen some people call him ADHD, but this man is AuDHD and you will never convince me otherwise.

Listen to me ramble abt my special interests and how they work (Or don't idc)
For those who DON'T know (idk how, but we ball) I'm autistic. I have very profound interests in things. I have 6 main special interests and then like sub catigories dw I'll explain it:
SO: Ancient Rome/Greece, Writing, Art, Musicals, Animals, & Shows (Specifcally like TV14 shows) LET ME EXPLAIN:
So the first 4 have a lot of overlapping simularities, so here are the sub catigories to those:
The Riordanverse
The Song of Achilles
EPIC the musical
Hadestown
The Lightning Thief the Musical
Bloom of the Sun (How tf is a sub-special interest of mine my own writing? idfk)
THEN shows like:
Brooklyn 99
Sherlock Holmes
Sweet Tooth
Dead Boy Detectives
Young Royals
And all that are shows I have a deep interest in as well.
For ANIMALS, this one I have had since I can remember:
Since I was a kid I have LOVED animals, specifically aquatic ones and ones you can keep as pets
Like I have spent 5 hours straight as a kid researching *mollies*, yk, the basic pet fish
Same with snakes, otters, dolphins, all that
SO dear viewer, my special interests have sub catigories too them, I blame it on my ADHD needing different stuff all the f-king time but my Autism needing the same stuff. I literally have a google drawing for my sub catigories.
I also opened up this post to rant abt Greek Mythology??? Idk bro

i highly dislike that a lot of the buzz surrounding sherlock & co is the fact that johnlock aren’t going to be canon (there’s gonna be no romantic subplots, it’s not queerbait when THERES NO ROMANCE IN IT), when IT SHOULD BE ABOUT THE INCREDIBLE and ‼️CANON‼️ AUDHD REPRESENTATION
to me it’s honestly such a breath of fresh air to see this and it be about unconditional platonic love like it’s just as important to me to see that audhd people deserve a wonderful platonic support system !!!!

You know, as absolutely hilarious it is to make jokes about, I hate that so many of us on this site look back on the 2012-2016 days with so much embarassment and cringe at how we spent time on here. My corner of this site was about what you expect, superwholock, bandom, cringey crossover edits, etc. But my corner of this site was also largely a big group of autistic teens having fun with their interests in whatever way they wanted to, without really caring what society thinks of it. Those of us with autism have often been labeled weird and cringey by neurotypicals for how we enjoy our interests, and its honestly kind of depressing how now as adults we look back on that portion of our lives and go "damn that was embarassing lol". Yes, certain things were VERY dumb in hindsight. But we were a bunch of literal children coming on here and using our imaginations, having fun, basically being children. That is not cringey, that is growing up. We basically did the same thing with Goncharov recently, except now we're older and can do it with a bit more skill, so it seems much less embarassing. My point is: don't look back on your teenage years on here in disgust and embarassment. Look back on how much fun you had.
