Have you seen Jodie Comer in Prima Facie?
I haven't! I actually haven't even seen Prima Facie at all, which is terrible. I wanted to see the MTC production with Sheridan Harbridge last year, but couldn't afford it at the time.
Always thrilled see an Australian play do so well though.

To the cinema to see some theatre: #CinemaNova Prima Facie #NTLive. I was lucky to see Suzie Miller’s play at its premier at #Griffin in a minimalistic production that gave full force to Sheridan Harbridge’s amazing performance. Here, in a more elaborate London West End production, Jodie Comer is similarly impressive, however the full-pelt direction doesn’t give enough time to let the audience catch up until… it’s too late. Dramatic, but we have to build empathy first. Also the didactic ending is even more pronounced here. Nevertheless worth seeing. Opinione (Spoiler Free) Davvero bello!
No!
Io voglio vederla ;)

The Hair Salon
World premiere Sydney Festival 11-29 January 2017
Welcome to a world of big hair, frizzy fantasy, curly cabaret and wild performances. A fabulously kitsch hair salon presented for 18 nights at the Meriton Festival Village. Featuring some of Australia’s best bands, Osadia (Spanish hair sculptors) and ‘The Big Hair Show’ hosted by cabaret queens Lisa Fa’alafi and Leah Shelton together with fabulously coiffured Salon Manager Bob Downe.
From 6pm-10pm The Hair Salon gave Sydney audiences free entertainment full of energy, colour, dancing and spectacular hairdos. With bands including Lake Street Drive from the US and some of Australia’s best disco, soul, funk and Latin bands such as Mighty Duke & The Lords, Cumbiamuffin and Spectres of Love.
Spanish hair sculptors Osadia invited volunteers to surrender their scalps in the name of art. Each night, a lucky few were plucked from the crowd and elevated to hair-styled stardom live on stage.
Delighting audiences with hair-abandon, The Big Hair Show provided a heady mix of cabaret, colour-enhanced acrobatics, dance and music. With Salon Receptionist DJ Sveta spinning up tunes and Salon Owner Bob Downe showing his skills as the comb king to the stars. Special guests The Amazing Ari and Lucia Carbines got heads turning with an array of aerial and contortionist acts. Each evening special guests took to the stage including Amanda Palmer, Catherine Alcorn, Paul Capsis, Costa Georgiadis, Sheridan Harbridge, Brendan Maclean, Alice Terry and more.

Nosferatutu (or Bleeding at the Ballet)
09 January 2017
Best bloody heckler. Ever. The audience has settled in for the much awaited “One Man Swan Lake” at Griffin Theatre. Sadly Kevin (Tommy Bradson) gets a bit over-excited by the show. Sorry, a ‘bite’ over-excited. See, Kevin is a vampire (beat that, De Niro or Defoe). Trapped in the stage lights, and with the star (mostly) out of action, the embarrassed patron throws his (un-dead) heart into making sure The Show Will Go On. To that end, Kevin enlists (read: forces) the help of the terrorified though resourceful usher (“Are you an actor? Of course you are!”) - Sheridan Harbridge, A-Positive good as usual. The brilliance of what dual-duty-ing Bradson (writer) and Harbridge (director) do is to straight facedly set up a scenario – live theatre going on and going sideways – and then tear into it with an insiders’ affectionate, entertaining glee: Fourth Wall shattering (audience and crew: You Are In The Show); “Swan Lake” as never before (or again); removing the makeup of production tricks; improvising your lines when forgotten or never known; Horror clichés and vampires; selecting Just The Right Song (Bowie would have loved his song cameo) and dancing to it; tortured artists going a bit Method. And that’s a sample. Get along, ideally in the front row (Kevin doesn’t bite. Much). This is awesome fun.

Songs for the Fallen does its best to plonk the audience in the middle of this party-girl world. Mixing an 1847 setting with 2015 references, the show features dancing, power ballads and pillow fights, while Marie moves out through the crowd to “harass and seduce anyone and anything she can”.

#Griffin Prima Facie, a new one-woman show by Suzie Miller. Although Kate Mulvany couldn’t be in this production, it was a thrilling occasion with the wonderful Sheridan Harbridge. Though slightly didactic at the very end, this is an important and engrossing exploration of the personal impacts of #metoo (at Griffin Theatre Company) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxuAOJcH2t-/?igshid=9uukyrxpg238

Songs for the Fallen (Sheridan Harbridge)
20 January 2016
Marie Duplessis – courtesan, lover, gambler, dead far too young – would have delighted the media ghouls and moralists all her short, eventful, and tragic life. Today she would have an entire web site industry, plus a (graphic) HBO/Showtime TV Event “honouring” her. This is the cabaret take on her story, told already in Australia by Brigid Dolan’s brilliant theatrical “Courtesan Remixed”, and genre ace Sheridan Harbridge, creatively aided by Basil Hughes, takes a coal-black humoured look at Duplessis’ last hours – she knows she’s dying (and isn’t happy about it), her (many, many) ex lovers don’t look like they are even going to say goodbye... but, oh woman, she’s going to perkily party and reminisce as long, and as well, as she can. Terrific show that is careful to keep focused on the tragic protagonist: a flawed woman, for sure, and still a person that the audience quickly comes to cares for, and to hope for a happy ending they – and Marie – know simply isn’t going to happen.
