Straight after Valentines Day when the heart emojis are no longer aflutter and the flowers are now half-priced comes I Am Giant’s brand new video for ‘Dead Flower.’

In it, a guy is tortured by memories of a former love, chronicling the relationship from romantic bliss to the inevitable breakdown along with the shuddering riffs and unforgiving blast of drums to match. So, the moral of the story? Don’t fuck it up, ‘cos you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone...

As Paul Matthews explains via press release:

“Some of us are addicted to learning the hard way and the chorus in the song is “She holds my dead flower where I can’t live without her” which I think says about all we need to on the meaning of the song.’

'Dead Flower’ also marks the first time long-term band member Aja Timu takes lead on vocals, with drummer Shelton Woolright remarking: ‘People have always commented on the strength of Aja’s backing vocals at shows [...] and this track shows just how great his voice is and why he’s the perfect fit to front the band.’

‘Dead Flower’ is from I Am Giant’s upcoming third album, out later in the year.

Very excited to announce my next solo exhibition 'Street Life' in partnership with the Auckland City Mission. It's time to acknowledge the very real growing number of people living on our streets. I'll be donating proceeds of my prints to the Mission, to go towards those sleeping rough.
