Hey, how aware is the general American public that Congress is currently shitting the bed on passing a one-year extension of the Farm Bill (no surprise, but they're fighting over the same thing they've been fighting over for the last 18 months) and if they don't pass a one-year extension by the end of the year, some programs will expire, including programs that affect the price of food. Like, for example, the milk commodity program, without which the cost of most dairy products would double. Prices for corn, wheat, and other staples would also increase, and some programs that focus on getting food out to low income folks would also be affected, like the program that connects farmers with food banks.

Like, in theory, law makers have every incentive not to let the Farm Bill expire, but we all know these jackals don't actually give a shit about us or our well-being. The word today is that they have reached a tentative agreement to pass a one-year extension, but that's not the first time they've made that announcement. It's just wild to me that the cost of food has, rightly, been so prominent in recent months, but there has been pretty much no discussion in the mainstream that I've seen about how close Congress is getting to letting the Farm Bill expiring which would almost immediately cause the price of at least some foods to sky rocket. And look, right now, I do still doubt that they're going to let the Farm Bill expire (not because it would be bad for the public, but because it would be bad for the ag industry), they're letting it get really fucking close, and I'm not sure that the general public is even remotely aware that they're currently 3-4 weeks away from seeing $10 gallons of milk if Congress doesn't act.

yay paper! i did just recently get a new natsumehandmade book cover for my sketchbook (midori a6) to match the one i already had for my journal (stalogy365 a6) and im super happy with it!!

these are my favourite book covers as they're cheaper and roomier than hobonichi book covers while being just as pretty! they also have a TON of pattern options on every shop listing!! if i was the type id buy like a bunch more, but having any that sit around empty waiting for a turn or just hold an old book to go on a shelf feels too sad to me. these things are precious and gotta see use! it took me so long to choose which pattern i wanted both times cus of that XD

With all the new game trailers out recently is there anything that looked interesting to you ?

Yes, Top Three are:

Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Another LiS game with Max Caulfeild. I'm so excited. I also need to find time to catch up on the series.

Wanderstop wouldn't normally be my thing but it's made the developer of The Stanley Parable and the trailer left me wondering.

Starfield creation kit is big for me. I've been waiting for good mods to play more and shattered space dlc is just the cherry on top.

But also,

The lineup of upcoming games is impressive but I personally am not invested in Doom, Dragon Age, Black Ops, etc.

also I understand why people do the whole "mint in package" thing with their collectibles but also like... how is that fun? I understand that it's about the appreciation of value and maybe being able to sell it later on, but personally I want to take them out of the box and look at all the little details and put them in a place where I can glance at them and smile.

No hate to the people that do collect things with the intent to sell them, but that's just not fun for me.
