Anyone who respects your Shaykh will never disrespect someone else's Shaykh, and knowing the value of your Shaykh, you will know the value of all the other Shaykhs because your teachings are the same. I don't know anything about any other murīd, but all I know is that a murīd of Shaykh Ibrāhīm Niasse (Allāh’s mercy on him) has no right to disrespect any Shaykh.

Salawat Al-Fatih / The Salutation of the Victor
Allahumma salli `alaa Sayyidinaa Muhammadini ‘l-faatihi limaa ughliq, wa ‘l-khaatimi limaa sabaq, naasiri ‘l-haqqi bi ‘l-haqq, wa ‘l-haadi ilaa Siraatika ‘l-Mustaqeem, wa `alaa aalihi haqqa qadrihi wa miqdaarihi ‘l-`azheem.
Scholars have said if you recite this once, it is as if you recited Dala`il al-Khayrat 600,000 times! Another says if you recite salawaat on the number of human beings from the time of Sayyidina Adam (a) until Judgment Day, that is the value of Salaat al-Faatih!
O Allah, bless our Master Muhammad, who opened what was closed and sealed what was before. He makes the truth victorious by the truth and he is the guide to Your Straight Path. And bless his Household as it befits his immense stature and splendor

NASRUL ILM AMERICA ZIYARA 2016 Nasrul Ilm America is a nationally registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It was inspired by the efforts of the late Shaykh Hassan Cisse (RA), a renowned Islamic scholar and humanitarian from Senegal, West Africa. His legacy of service to humanity has helped countless men, women and children in the United States and abroad. Our mission is to promote the principle of service to humanity through education, humanitarianism, and cultural exchange – three areas of focus that typified Shaykh Hassan Cisse's work throughout the world. Our organization’s name, Nasrul Ilm America, was given to us by Shaykh Hassan Cisse shortly before his death. It is derived from the name that his grandfather, Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse – one of the most influential religious leaders on the African continent in the twentieth century – gave to his global spiritual community, Jamiat Nasrul Ilm. This Arabic phrase loosely translates to “the community of beneficial knowledge.” In the Islamic tradition, knowledge, or ilm, is not simply information. Rather, knowledge is predicated on action. In other words, to possess real knowledge implies that a person act on that knowledge. Sound knowledge is, in turn, considered a prerequisite for correct action. Nasrul Ilm America is informed by this holistic understanding of what constitutes knowledge. We believe, therefore that the true "benefit" of knowledge is to assist humanity beyond just the dissemination of facts. As leader of the community of beneficial knowledge – Shaykh Hassan Cisse, worked tirelessly to feed people, to provide them with access to medical care, and to facilitate moral and Islamic education, as well as secular education, for scores of students from around the world. Following Shaykh Hassan’s model, itself patterned from the model of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Nasrul Ilm America is an organization that is dedicated to the core principle of service to humanity.

Imam Sayed Abdus-Salam - Great American Sufi
By Rasul Miller and Samiha AbduRahman
Nov. 8, 2017
Al-Hajj Imam Sayed Abdus Salam was a pioneer in New York City's Muslim community. Born in 1942, he became involved in Harlem's local Black Nationalist scene as a teenager. As a young man, he joined the Nation of Islam. Following Malcolm X's departure from the Nation, Imam Sayed also left and attended the first meeting of Malcolm X's Muslim Mosque Inc. Subsequently, he studied Sunni Islam and frequented various NYC Mosques that were active during the 1960s, such as the International Muslim Society or '303' in Harlem and the State Mosque in Brooklyn.

Imam Sayed then lived in Guyana for a brief period, where he encountered Tasawwuf through members of the local Muslim community there.
He returned to New York and became a cofounder of the Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood (MIB) in Harlem in the late 1960s. There, Imam Sayed served as the Na'ib (assistant Imam) to Shaykh Ahmed K. Tawfiq, the founding Imam of the Muslim Mosque Inc. In this capacity, Imam Sayed developed MIB's curriculum of study and oversaw the religious education of new shahadas, drawing on his exceptional errudition. In addition, he gave numerous shahadas and performed the general duties of the Imam (delivered sermons, etc) when needed.
In the later half of the 1970s, Imam Sayed left MIB on amicable terms due to what he saw as a need for the community to move in a more 'spiritual' direction. In 1978, he met Shaykh Hassan Aliou Cisse, a young Senegalese Islamic scholar and humanitarian who would go on to become his generation's most celebrated representative of the Tijani Sufi tariqa, and the spiritual guide for the largest community of Black American Sufis in the country.
Tumblr media
Imam Sayed became the first American man to join the Tijani tariqa and was appointed by Shaykh Hassan as the the first American muqaddam in the tariqa. Upon traveling to Medina Baye Senegal, a prominent hub for the Tijani Sufi tariqa, Imam Sayed also received an ijaza and muqaddamship from Shaykh Hassan Cisse's father, Shaykh al-Hajj Sidi Aliou Cisse, the top student, aid, and successor of the world renowned West African Muslim scholar Shaykh Ibrahim Niass (RA). Imam Sayed went on to send many of his children and grandchildren to Medina Baye to memorize the Quran and pursue Islamic scholarship -- some of whom are still studying there today.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Imam Sayed served as Imam for the Tijani community in the US for the next 40 years, teaching and promoting Islam and Tasawwuf. Imam Sayed has benefited countless people by giving them shahada, teaching them Islam, giving them the tariqah, and/or teaching them the fundamentals of tasawwuf which, for him, revolved around purifying the heart, improving one's character, and increasing one's love for the Prophet (SAW) and adherence to his Sunnah. In the mid-2000s, Imam Sayed and his wife Sister Najah Abdus-Salaam opened their home in Brooklyn to serve as a Tijani zawiyah, where members of the community have gathered each week for more than a decade for dhikr and fellowship.

Imam Sayed is survived by his wife Sister Najah, fourteen children, and many grandchildren.
May Allah grant him the highest paradise. May He forgive his sins and accept all of his good deeds. May the acts of worship and goodness offered by his children and grandchildren, and the many people that he taught, inspired, and encouraged to remember Allah and follow His straight path continue to benefit him. May the mosques and communities he helped to establish thrive and continue to serve as lights for humanity. May Allah reward Imam Sayed for fostering love for Allah and His Prophet (SAW) in the hearts of so many people, and keep him in the company of His most beloved (SAW).

200 Cows Donated & Distributed for Eid-ul Adha in Medina Baye
9/2/2017
The people of Medina Baye are thankful to Turkish organization IDDEF for an amazing contribution to the Eid holiday in the city of Baye Niass. The organization first contacted Shaykh Mahy Cisse last year through our #IamMedinaBaye communications team with interest in building a young adult madrassah in the city. Later they fed hundreds of people in Medina Baye for Iftar during the last 10 days of Ramadan.

Now, for the Eid of sacrifice, the organization for the third time through Shaykh Mahy Cisse has again shown much selflessness. This time IDDEF has contributed 200 cows and yesterday they were slaughtered and distributed to hundreds of families in the Medina Baye area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The entire slaughter was under the leadership of Shaykh Mahy Cisse and organized by Shaykh Muhammad Babacar Konte, Oustaz Baye of AAII, Shaykh Ibrahim Mahy Cisse and covered by the MIDAF Alfityanu and #IamMedinaBaye media teams.

Once the cows were slaughtered the meat was divided up in hundreds of 25lb bags and transported to the African American Islamic Institute in Medina Baye where thousands of men women and children lined up in hopes of receiving a portion. Tickets were distributed according to lists of names compiled by the Shaykh. In the end all listed names were able to receive meat plus an overflow of others.

Alhumdulilah, we thank Allah for this kind donation of support by the IDDEF team during this Tabaski holiday. Many families will be fed and inshaAllah we look forward to the upcoming opening of IDDEF’s madrassa in Medina Baye and further contributions in the future.

Ivy League and HBCU Students Hold Exclusive Class at AAII Medina Baye
#IamMedinaBaye Staff: 2/17/17
Its been said that traveling is the best way to learn. Experiencing the world in it’s entirety and diversity is an education far more effective than without. Apparently the 23 students led by Dr. Mansa Bilal King agreed. The students were selected to spend a semester abroad studying various subject and course majors. Their 17 week semester consists of a month in each Senegal, Italy and China. The students, mostly from Yale, Spelman and Morehouse visit various cities and in particular spiritual sites researching the Islamic marabouts and their murids. During the trip they sat down and received a powerful and informational lecture from their Professor at the African American Islamic Institute.
Tumblr media
Here in Medina Baye they were hosted by our #IamMedinaBaye team including Sayyda Kubra Askari Cisse, RJ and Aliyah Mahdi, Muhammad Ali and others. The students were given a tour of Baye City as they asked questions and took notes for their research. Dr King and only one other student were Muslim, but the entire group was completely engulfed in the spiritual attraction of the city as well as the history of Sheikh Ibrahim Niass.
Tumblr media
After visiting the Grande Mosque and rouda of the Sheikhs the visiting grad students were fully interested in learning more about the Tariqqa Tijani and the Fayda Ibrahima. The group also paid visit to Clinic Shifa Asqam, built by the late Imam Hassan Cisse and American Dr. Khadija Askari Cisse. The facility staff met with the students to talk about things like healthcare costs, pharmaceuticals and operating procedures. Likewise at the African American Islamic Institute. The group met with school administration, visited classes and discussed the education system before hearing both Quran and Arabic school students recite Quran.
Tumblr media
Lastly the group sat down for exclusive lectures in the new AAII building built by Sayyda Kubra Askari Cisse. The large bright classrooms were the perfect setting for the instructor, Dr. Mansa Bilal King to give an in-depth analysis of the ancient West African kingdoms and the influence of Islam. In a later conversation Dr. King explained the following:
“We ended this talk by walking through several of the major polities established by Muslim reform and rebellion movements in the period after the fall of Songhay....And after that, it becomes noteworthy that the single largest spreader of tariqa Tijani was Ibrahim Niass, whose family was from a traditional lower strata occupational/endogamous group (blacksmiths). And after that, one notices that the rise of the Tijaniyya and the Muridiyya ends the domination of the Qadiriyya in the region. The Qadiriyya is 1,000 years old, started in Iraq, and was spread into the region through light-skinned Arab-dominated Mauretania (a land noted for both a high level of scholarship AND enduring anti-dark skin stigma...a big puzzle that I would like to resolve on day). The Tijaniyya is just over 200 years old, and starts in North Africa (likely among rather chocolate North Africans at that, but the incontrovertible evidence still needs to be marshaled and published). The Muridiyya is THE ONLY tariqa started from the very beginning by an unquestionably dark Black African Wali of Allah. And the Murids have had a meteoric rise since the community was established in the 1880s. So, the reform movements are also connected to a reordering of tariqa dominance in West Africa. NOTE: I do not engage in debates about which tariqa is "better" or whose Shaykh is the {holiest}. I engage in the analysis of changing structures of wealth, power, and status.”
Tumblr media
Dr. Mansa Bilal King is a Professor at Morehouse College with a PHD in Sociology out of John Hopkins and D.C. HBCU, Howard University. He later posted the above photo on his Facebook page stating:
Medina Baay was an amazing part of our trip. The students fell DEEPly in love with the people and the place. Their understanding of Islam, and the role of sufism within the tradition was expanded much. Dr. Kubra, Bro RJ Mahdi (on my left in the pic), Bro. Muhammad Ali (on my right in the pic), and so many others made us feel welcomed and loved.
Their openness and sincerity cannot be overstated! Their love for Allah's giving the world Baay Niass and his beloved family, students, and city was oozing through the pores.
