Stan Headcanons

♤ He is bisexual; since the day Wendy 'transitioned', he realized he liked guys.

♡ The dude writes songs but is top embarrassed to do anything about them. He wants to share them with people, but ever since the hybrid song, he rather just keep them to himself.

◇ He's a sucker for sad love songs. He likes how much emotion is in them, and he could listen to them for days. He has a private playlist full of them. He has a variety of songs he listens to, but sad love songs are 1000% his guilty pleasure.

♧ He has lost his inhaler multiple times. Either it slipped out his pocket or something. They aren't cheap, and it has cost Sharon a good amount to get him a new one, every time.

☆ He loves his friends and sees them as an extension of his family. Kyle is his best friend, his twin brother, Kenny is his lovable and stupid little brother, and Cartman is the annoying sibling he would wish he never had.

♤ Stan loves Wendy. He would usually be the one to get her a gift for their anniversary if they managed to even reach a year between their on and offs. Usually, anything he thinks she would love or would even make things for her.

♡ Stan is the second shortest person of his friend group. He doesn't mind it much unless someone sticks it in his face constantly.

◇ Stan is a gamer nerd. He knows a shit ton about any game that has come out. How to olay it, what/who is the best to play as, etc. He has the combo moves and would gladly help someone if they are struggling.

♧ Dude loves the ocean, he wants to be a marine biologist when he grows older. His favorite aquatic critter? Sea bunnies.

☆ Sparky is his lovable companion. He likes to take Sparky out for walks and sometimes helps tries to find a partner for his gay dog, usually failing in the end. He has bought a rainbow bandana that he has attached to Sparky's collar.

♤ Stan drinks due to 1. having asthma, and not being able to smoke due to it; 2. it's the one thing he has in supply at home, due to his dad being an alcoholic too. At some point, he was drinking in public while still underage. He did get Randy in trouble with the police, but he was let go a day later.

♡ Stan writes down his emotions, either writes or types them. He likes to keep them written down in case he reads back on it and it gives him a bit of inspiration for his songs. Most of his songs are probably about how he hates his dad's weed farm.

◇ His parents are actually divorced, they coparent and live together for Stan and Shelly's sake. Though Stan has found out, he doesn't want to really open that can of worms just yet.

♧ He has dreams of living back in his old home. Dreamt of burning down the farm and just returning to his normal life. He loves his dad, but he has honestly lost respect for him once the weed industry has taken over him and his life.

☆ Stan has always tried his best in school. Though, do to Cartman dragging him into the most unreal experiences, he hasn't had the best school record.

this is a GREAT question! i’m gonna expand to the nonpodcasters too btw.

butters’ parents: they are beyond humiliated by his very existence. the second he moves out their relationship starts to fizzle out, going from occasional talks and sometimes seeing each other on holidays to no contact at all and only linda acknowledging that he’s even their son. by the time the cheating scandal (and therefore his being gay) comes out, neither of them acknowledge him. as far as they’re concerned, he’s not their son anymore. when asked about him, they play dumb. he used to send them money but he doesn’t anymore. they never asked about this either because this requires contacting their son who isn’t their son. never an official disownment. and it hurts for butters even more because he didn’t even get the closure of his dad screaming at him about how much he sucks, it was just quiet. overall BAD situation.

kyle’s parents: they’re so embarrassed of him. constantly talking about how ike is a LAWYER and has a REAL job even though kyle is objectively more successful. sheila at least is occasionally nice about it because that’s her baby but gerald doesn’t even try to hide his disappointment. kyle is a failson to him and this kind of predated him doing fireside so now it’s just WORSE. permafailson. kyle tries so so hard to impress them and it does nothing, he will always be the disappointing son who had the potential to do so much more and instead is fucking around in los angeles with his bum musician boyfriend (as they see it).

cartman’s mom: cartman can do NO. WRONG. that is her baby. liane is so SO proud of him no matter what. he could kill someone and she wouldn’t give a fuck. she hates butters and kenny forever about the cheating thing too because they hurt her poopsiekins. she listens to fireside and swears to cartman that she thinks kyle’s jabs at him are awful, but secretly she finds them HILARIOUS and laughs out loud every time.

craig’s parents: cannot stress enough how little they give a shit. like, they love him and all, but his career is just so nothing to them. they sometimes even forget he has a podcast at all. their relationship is fine.

tweek’s parents: tweek’s parents are in jail. he visits them sometimes and they’re like “hey. we’re so proud of you for your podcast.” even though they don’t listen to it on account of they are in jail. they’re like “hey are you still gay? awesome. that’s so great. that must be fantastic for listenership.” tweek can’t bail them out because the charge is too big but they ask him every time nonetheless.

tolkien’s parents: they don’t get it but they try to be supportive anyway. he calls them once a week and they have a pretty good relationship. neither of them really attempt to understand his career and they don’t listen to the pod because they find it irritating, but if their son is happy, they’re happy! he doesn’t really discuss it with them.

clyde’s dad: he’s already a podcast listener, so when clyde told him that he was starting a podcast himself he was immediately supportive. he doesn’t really listen to catg because he doesn’t get it, but occasionally he’ll tune in and try to enjoy it a bit. it’s just not his thing, he’s more of an npr kind of guy. he also listens to mbmbam at his big age. but he gets a kick out of telling people about his popular podcaster son.

jimmy’s parents: they love him but they think his podcast and his comedy in general are so fucking dumb. his mom is more polite about it but his dad outright tells him that it’s stupid and unfunny. they’re very serious people so the shit that he does is unfathomable to them.

stan’s parents: i mean randy obviously is his producer so his take on what stan is doing is clear. sharon is SO SO PROUD!!!!! she is always showing people videos of his shows and playing his songs at work, telling people in the waiting room that that’s her baby singing, and look how talented he is! she doesn’t quite get it, and the music isn’t her style, but by god is she playing that shit anyway because stan is her little angel.

kenny’s parents: carol doesn’t care what he does, not in the enabling way that liane has, but more in the way of that’s her little boy and she’s happy that he made it out, regardless of how he had to do it. as opposed to stuart, who is actively resentful of kenny, kind of similar to the way he resents gerald. he sees kenny’s success as a betrayal to their family and the very fact that kenny is living well is as though kenny is basically straight up saying that he sees himself as superior. kenny tries to send his dad money multiple times and he always sends it back and tells him to fuck off with that.

i’m seriously in awe of how supportive sheila and gerald were towards stan and kyle’s relationship. same with sharon too! randy ofc could use a little more “work”, but i’m sure he’ll come around. right?

i consider WTSAU to have 4 main antagonists (if you can call them that). some get redeemed, some don’t. 

when i think about whether their parents would be supportive of them, i think about a few things. how tweek and craig were supported when they came out (whether you think the reaction was right or wrong), how they’ve acted thus far in the fic, and instances where they show support for stan and kyle in the show.

with sharon i think back to the ‘nightmare on facetime’ episode and ‘spookyfish’. she loves him and does her best to support him. in the fic, sharon’s the only parent who knows from the beginning they’re together, but even before that she saw how happy stan was because he was acting like a lovesick idiot. since finding out and realizing how serious their relationship is she’s been their silent supporter.

for sheila on the other hand, i think of ‘it’s a jersey thing’ and the fractured but whole.

kyle and sheila don’t always get along in canon, but they have an indisputably strong bond. kyle is a huge mama’s boy, and while sheila can be strict and bullheaded she always has his back. she does what she thinks is right, even when it’s not the right solution. most of all, she wants kyle to be happy and find a life partner, because she knows it’s hard to date when you’re overweight. she even feels personally responsible for putting him in this position because she let him get fat, so there’s an added layer of guilt on top of everything else.

it’s why she’s so excited for him in ETL when he has a date for valentine’s day, and why she’s quick to excuse the fact he doesn’t have a girlfriend in WTSAU chapter 3. she wants him to know he shouldn’t feel bad about not having a girlfriend, but it comes across to kyle like she’s saying she doesn’t think he could find someone to day. this is why kyle saying “You never even thought I could get a date!” cuts so deep. it’s what she wants for him most of all.

if i could go back and write additional scenes that didn’t make it into the fic, one of them would be the conversation between cousin kyle and sheila. sheila goes up to bat for cousin kyle in chapter 5 for the same reason she wants kyle to find love. cousin kyle’s this overweight gay kid who’s never dated anyone, and he comes to sheila saying he’s being excluded--and somehow it comes up that he might have a little crush on stan. sheila is determined to help this poor boy however she can. encouraging him, forcing them to hangout, etc. 

it’s all the same stuff she would do for kyle if she’d known the truth, because she sees her son’s struggles with dating reflected in cousin kyle, and now she actually has the opportunity to help fix them. after the events of chapter 5 she realizes where she fucked up and has to rethink the whole thing.

i don’t have much time to address it later in the fic, but post-WTSAU sheila ends up being the biggest advocate for their relationship. she lets them do basically whatever they want. sleep over as much as they want, go out together whenever they want, miss curfew all the time knowing they’re probably off on some date--because she likes stan and he’s so outspokenly protective of their relationship. this is basically sheila’s dream. so while kyle is embarrassed that stan is yelling shit like “I LOVE HIM! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM!” it inadvertently gives him the free fuck pass.

i imagine a scenario after the story where ike is like “mom can i go to a concert tonight with karen?” and sheila’s all “absolutely not! that’s way too late and i’m not letting you stay overnight with her!” and ike’s like “but you let kyle go out with stan all night all the time!” and she just tells him tough luck, because she will do everything in her power to protect their relationship.

in regards for the dads...

this gerald is more of an early south park gerald who hangs out in the background being mostly harmless. newer season gerald is a fucking asshole. the broflovski's would be perfect without him he doesn’t deserve to be part of their family after all the skankhunt shit. fuck you gerald. 

i’ve said it before, randy is a narcissist who cares about stan’s image more than stan, because of what it does for him. he’s got a hotshot athletic son who he thinks can get all the poon he wants, and that makes randy feel like he’s some kind of hotshot for fathering him. the fact that stan’s dating kyle completely destroys this fantasy and randy’s only concerned with how it impacts his image, which makes it very unlikely for him to admit wrongdoing and change.

okay i have SO MANY 😩 but i can’t say all the best ones until later cuz they involve SPOILERS

so i’ll try to say all the ones i can with the information given:

Style:

- Kyle’s had feelings for Stan since he realized he was gay, which was in middle school. When Stan came out as bi he told Kyle first, before Wendy, even though they were dating at the time. Kyle’s insecurities prevented from acting on his feelings even after they broke up.

- Wendy has pegged Stan in the past, but Kyle is the first guy Stan’s ever been with. Wendy has come around to support their relationship since the events of ETL chapter 4.

- Stan is always the first one to say ‘I love you’.

- Kyle was the last one in their big friend group to lose his virginity, but he has one of the highest sex drives of the guys. He and Stan switch off being top almost equally, but Kyle prefers to top and Stan prefers to bottom. they fuck daily.

- When they want to have a hard, passionate fuck Kyle tops. when they want to have slow, emotional sex Stan tops. Kyle has slight sadist tendencies (inflicts pain) and Stan has masochist tendencies (receives pain). Stan is especially into breathplay (choking, face sitting, crushing, etc.) and assplay. he’s the best ass eater (so call him a bottom feeder 😂) and Kyle’s superior in the blowjob department.

- Stan has hyperhidrosis, meaning he sweats more than the average person. this is why their rooms/the truck/anywhere they fuck smells so strong. there’s a few hints for this in ETL/WTSAU, he keeps antiperspirant in his locker and in the truck, he gets really sweaty whenever they have sex. Stan also has asthma and acne, which Kyle’s been helping him treat. Kyle loves popping his zits for him.

- Conversely, Kyle is super hygienic and always tries to keep himself clean and dry. when Sharon comes into Stan’s room in chapter 1 and describes the smell, the gym locker scent is Stan, the Old Spice is Kyle, and the ‘inside of a rubber balloon’ is their latex lubricant. 

- Everyone at school considers them the obnoxious, overly romantic couple. they hold hands, cuddle, kiss, and dirty talk in front of everyone. they think they can get away with it without people noticing but they’re chronically conspicuous and not stealthy. the working title for the fanfic was actually ‘Ain’t Slick’ for a while before it changed to What They Say About Us!

- they’re fucking devoted to each other and are exclusively monogamous. Stan is especially protective of Kyle and Kyle is fiercely possessive of Stan. 

- Kyle applied as a math major in his college applications, and will eventually get a PhD for logic and set theory. Stan’s a bio major and wants to go into physical therapy.

- Stan doesn’t smoke weed out of principle (because of his dad) so Kyle also doesn’t smoke in solidarity. 

- Kyle is a type 2 diabetic, and doesn’t need to always take insulin. his weight gain began with the World of Warcraft episode and was maintained instead of lost like in the show. his weight is a cyclical feedback loop of: genetics (mom’s side of the family), too much insulin (when using insulin therapy), and diet. this led to him developing lordosis (excessive weight warps his spine) so he didn’t grow as tall as he would have, and makes his weight appear more exaggerated. short stature, weight, and body image issues led to quitting basketball which in turn contributes more to his weight. this impacts his self-worth which leads to stress eating. his biggest fear is that he’ll never stop gaining weight and will end up as big or bigger than Cartman.

- Stan has gained a few pounds since he started dating Kyle, while Kyle has lost a few.

Cutters/Bunnyman/Kenrietta:

- Kenny is straight, but has voluntarily sucked dick before. he and henrietta have hooked up a few times in the past after running into each other at poetry slam events which Kenny takes Karen to. 

- Butters and Cartman are exclusively gay, and think girls are fucking gross. they’ve only every slept with each other.

- Kenny, Cartman, and Butters are all best friends and do pretty much everything together. even though Butters and Cartman are dating, Kenny never feels like a third wheel because they rarely act romantic in front of anyone (including him). however, when Style start dating and Cutters come out about their relationship, Kenny begins feeling like a fifth wheel.

- Butters lives almost entirely at Cartman’s house. His parents actually don’t mind because they enjoy not having him around. Liane is 100% the cool mom from mean girls who asks them if they want snacks or a condom. Sometimes all three of them crash at Kenny’s house for variety (or when he has to watch Karen because his mom is drinking/out of the house).

- Kenny wants to study psychology in college and become a family therapist or social worker. he’s taking a gap year to save money then going to community college. Cartman and Butters applied to the same schools and plan to stick together long-term.

- Butters and Cartman’s relationship started as experimenting with each other as their sexualities developed, and began after Cartman confided that he had sexual feelings for Kyle. Cartman and Butters have also developed genuine feelings for each other, and overtime their relationship transformed into what it is now. because of how their relationship started, they’re very open about any sexual feelings they have for other people and have a ‘hall pass’ for friends they’re allowed to fuck if given the chance, without it considered cheating.

- Butters is a huge gossip. he will promise to keep secrets and then immediately turn around and tell Cartman--which totally happened after Kyle said he thinks Stan has a crush on him in ETL chapter 2. Butters and Cartman keep nothing from each other, and the only secrets they won’t tell are the ones about each other. 

- Kenny is the easiest of the larger friend group to confide in, and keeps every secret he’s given. he’s known Cartman and Butters have been together since the beginning, about Cartman’s crush on Kyle, and Kyle’s crush on Stan. People naturally come to him for advice and to vent. The least likely person to confide in him is Kyle, who’s more likely to curl in on himself instead of expressing his feelings.

-SO much shit about Cartman and Butters’ relationship I can’t say yet because it comes up in the fic 😩 please ask me about these two again later when i can say more!!!

Creek:

- Tweek is a dom top and Craig’s his catamite. they try to get away with sex anywhere they can and have gotten very stealthy because of it. Tweek also has one of the highest sex drives of their friend group, and Craig will let him do whatever he wants anywhere, anytime. 

- Tweek is constantly high on stimulants (cocaine, meth, adderall, etc.) and Craig experiments with him in certain settings. this is what gives Tweek his boosted self-confidence and flippant attitude. 

- Pete Thelman (hair flip goth) is their coke dealer. Tweek trades him his ADHD meds for it, which Pete resells to posers. If Tweek doesn’t have enough to cover the cost he and Craig make up the rest by giving Pete sexual favors. sometimes they have threesomes for fun too.

- Tweek and Craig both think Kyle is hot and would fuck him given the chance. being open about this with each other makes them feel closer and strengthens their relationship. they have roleplayed as Stan and Kyle in bed before while high out of their minds.

- they're deeply in love and would do anything for each other. Craig could get Tweek to stop taking drugs if he wanted to but right now they enjoy experimenting with them together. in the words of everyone who know them, ‘Tweek and Craig are perfectly fucked up for each other’. 

Kyle’s family:

- Sheila’s biggest regret as a parent is letting Kyle get fat, because she was also overweight as a kid and dealt with the same issues he does now. It’s the same reason she feels obligated to help Kyle’s cousin overcome his weight dilemma (by trying to get him and Stan to hang out).

- Ike is an eboy who loves lil peep. He, Karen, Tricia, and Firkle all make tiktoks together and complain about their gay older brothers/friends.

- random fun fact: If Ike and Karen get married that would mean Kyle and Kenny are brothers-in-law, which would mean the main five all end up as extended family to one another.

Stan’s family:

- Sharon has plans to divorce Randy but is waiting until Stan leaves for college to not uproot him from school and his friends.

- Grandpa Marsh is still kickin’ in the old folks home and Shelly’s off in college.

- Randy’s a narcissist who lives vicariously through Stan’s accomplishments in sports. the easiest way to explain it is: Randy’s not as proud of Stan for being a successful athlete and attractive jock as he is proud of himself for producing one. Stan’s ability to get laid with (he presumes) hot girls makes Randy feel like he has game too. one of the reasons he’s disgusted by Stan’s relationship with Kyle is if Stan’s fucking some big fat guy it doesn’t align with his narrative.
