Day 25 - El Burgos Ranero to Mansilla de las Mulas
About a 12 mile day according to the book.
Both of us had a really ropey night last night, the earth certainly moved but not in the right way. The woman above me in the bunk seemed to shift about all night, and the rocking was compounded by the man above Jane. He was up quite a few times and as the bunks were so close together would steady himself on mine while getting down.
We were awake before half 6, packed up then had breakfast at the place we had lunch the previous day before getting on the road about 20 to 8.
I don’t think El Burgo Ranero is a place to revisit and we did our best to take our usual early morning photo. They had covered the trees on the path with crochet granny squares which was pretty.
The road was again very straight, very flat, and very long following the side of a quiet road. There were no towns for about 8 miles so it was just a question of plodding on and nattering about daft things.
After a while we came to a dip in the road that had been forested and in the woods were some cows (excitement of the day!). There was also an amusing sign about people not going to the loo in the woods and leaving their mess behind.
About half way we stopped at a picnic area and lay on the benches in the sunshine for a good half hour, finishing off Jane’s chocolate bar and chilling which was very pleasant.
After the rest it was time to break out our headphones and get the music on. Whilst the walking the last couple of days has been boring it has been nice to properly listen to music.
Our coffee stop finally came into view where we made the acquaintance of two Irish guys, Barry and Shane, and had a chat. It turned out later that they also knew Nicole (who caught us up today). It’s like a spiderweb of friendships.
We ploughed on through the last 4 or so miles, and I managed to get a bit of video of Jane dancing to whatever was on her headphones!
The hostel where we are staying is first rate. It’s very modern with a lovely garden and proper restaurant. We had a menu del dia at lunchtime again, then caught up with a gang of friends who had recently arrived.
We chilled, I had a shower then a wander around the village, then Jane had a wander.
When I got back there was a gang having a chat in the garden and when Jane got back we had a group photo. We realised that most of our pics are of the landscape and not of people. So, left to right we have Jane (of course), Ashley (US), Betty (Belgium), Otto I think?, two people from Costa Rica that we met tonight, Nicole (Australia), Laura (Germany), Joe & Charles (US).
Jane and I didn’t want much for tea so had a bocadillo (baguette) with ham and cheese. We sat with the youngsters whilst the others had a proper meal. The young ones all want to go partying tomorrow in Leon, and whilst the bar culture is tremendous I can’t remember any clubs.
So Jane and I are back in the dorm ready for bed. The bunks are more solid tonight so fingers crossed it’ll be a better night’s sleep.

PFL 6 salaries: Shane Burgos tops the list of payouts with championship-level purse
PFL 6 salaries: Shane Burgos tops the list of payouts with championship-level purse PFL 6 was an incredible night of fights unfortunately now marred in controversy after the promotion decided to suspend Raush Manfio and Natan Schulte for essentially a boring fight. The suspension removed Schulte from the playoffs and put Shane Burgos in his place leading fans to wonder if the PFL was…

3 Minutes of Shane Burgos Putting His Opponents Through Hell (Win or Lose)
By: ITP MMA
As PFL is set to run it's 2nd of two NYC shows in less than a week, they have one of the city's most violent representatives in the headliner.
Shane Burgos (16-4) is not supposed to be here in the playoffs for the PFL lightweight season. But some disciplinary nonsense against former champion Natan Schulte led to him making it to the 2nd round. Now in the semi-finals, Burgos will look to make the most of it when he faces off against Clay Collard (23-10) in the main event of PFL 9: 2023.

UFC on ESPN: Blaydes vs. Volkov
#UFConESPN: Blaydes vs. Volkov I wrote this the other day, but finally publish it today. @JustinJaynesMMA and @JoshEmmettUFC were amazing. That's pretty much your takeaway. And @JimMiller_155! The man is eternal.
Curtis Blaydes vs. Alexander Volkov
This was one of those times when a fighter looks great-but-who-gives-a-shit.
Heavyweight Curtis Blaydes knocked out Junior Dos Santos heading into this one, which was a decent recovery after two losses in the last few years to the scariest guy in the UFC, Francis Ngannou. Alexander (just me who wants to call him Nicolai?) Volkov had been on a decent run…

Raush Manfio’s manager, Natan Schulte respond to PFL’s controversial decision to suspend the fighters
Natan Schulte and Raush Manfio are understandably upset after the PFL suspended both fighters after a lackluster fight between them this past Friday night. The matchup, which saw Schulte earn a unanimous decision victory that earned him a spot in the 2023 PFL playoffs, was effectively voided by the promotion after opting to instead promote Shane Burgos into the slot instead…Read More

Fight of the year? UFC fighters react to Josh Emmett-Shane Burgos brawl
Fight of the year? UFC fighters react to Josh Emmett-Shane Burgos brawl
[ad_1]
It wasn’t a surprise that the Josh Emmett vs. Shane Burgos co-main event Saturday was an entertaining slugfest, but even with high expectations, the bout managed to put fellow UFC fighters in awe.
Francis Ngannou called it the fight of the night, but Cody Garbrandt and Henry Cejudo went even further, calling it a fight-of-the-year candidate.
It will go in the record books as a win by…
