Finally picked up my copy!
Pretty cool to see my art on the cover of a sourcebook. My cover art for Shadowrun: The Needle’s Eye.

This looks like for Roll20 has Shadowrun 6th world Quick Start Rules for free to use on their system today. I got the email and thought I should share with the rest of my chummers. https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/compendiumexpansion/19329/shadowrun-sixth-world-quick-start-rules

"Scavenge Squirrel" for Shadowrun: Wild Life (2024)
Got to paint this little fiber optic fellah for Shadowrun: Wild Life last year! One of my first two official creature illustrations. The 3rd edition D&D Monster Manual was a big deal for me as a kid, and it felt very cool to be a part of an RPG creature compendium. Reading two romance books back to back violently reminding me that the reason I identify with Dak Rambo is there is no pining in the way he loves—it’s full-chested and loud and too much and yet at the same time he can’t force himself into a shape that is easier to love than what he is now.

this is such a good metaphor. Especially because seeing a Skyrim mod well done is a huge artistic undertaking and a lot of work, and can pay off in a great version of the game! It's just that if you want a half-life game, somebody's already made the thing. You can have fun with Skyrim mods, but they're a hassle and it's really easy for it to feel clunky and tacked on. Because it is, inherently, either something clunky and tacked on, or a different game built from the ground up but with all of the design baggage of skyrim dragging it down. Brennan Lee Mulligan can do wonderous things with heavily modded 5e. That doesn't mean you have to sink hours and hours into it to do the same thing but worse.
The state of TTRPGs if it was video games
“Oh I wanna play a Half-life video game; instead of playing Half-life 1, Blue Shift, Opposing Force, Half-life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, Portal, Portal 2, E:0, or E:02, I’ll just download 10,000 mods for Skyrim until all the draugr are replaced with Combine soldiers.”

I keep thinking that I want to replay DA2, and finish my DAO replay, and replay PoE and PoE: Deadfire. But what I really want is to find and play a completely new game that scratches the specific fantasy rpg itch those games do; one I've somehow missed after a decade of playing fantasy crpgs.
