Azul's fry are very small after they first hatch. Their eggs (fully formed) are the size of golf balls. When they hatch, most already have hair and vibrant colors, but they are incredibly small still as they had to fit inside of the egg. So they don't get lost or hurt, most Merfolk put their young in tanks with lids so the young can't escape. It is all too easy for fry to get caught in ocean currents and dragged out where they are not safe (how Azul lost most of his siblings) especially in terms of Octopus fry who are already poor swimmers.
When Azul's fry are young/eggs, they need to be kept submerged, so Azul will likely be back in the Coral Sea with his fry and the Eel twins. Their tank is rather large but it is kept closed unless Azul (or the Human) is visiting with the fry and taking care of them. The tank stays sealed so the fry don't get loose and get injured, eaten, or stolen. When they grow bigger- about the size of human infants- they will move out of the tank and into their own octopus pots. Azul is extremely stressed at all times that someone- *cough* poachers *cough cough*- might try to steal his fry. They always swim up to see Azul or the Human any time the tank is unsealed and will often seek refuge in Azul's hair or the Human's hair if they can. They feel safer with their parents nearby and will often hide among their tank decor if anyone other than Azul or the Human tries to open the tank.
In the Harem Route, The fry are often visited by Jade who adores the many colors and has actually befriended most of Azul's fry. The only one of Azul's fry that Jade has not managed to win over is the one that looks most like Azul as that one is more skittish and refuses to come to the top of the tank to see anyone other than the Human or Azul.
I have Names and Genders for the Octo-fry already, and I took inspiration from the tale of Triton and his Seven children representing the Seven Seas, hence why Azul gets Seven fry.

Taste Checklist ✓
“You want to know my preferences? You must have a lot of time on your hands.”
A weirdo who will look after me.
I hate loud mouths.
A woman who is self-aware isn’t bad.
Take good care of yourself as well.
Deep inside, I’ll always remain a Do-S. (You’ll have to live with this if you want to date him).
To capture Shu's heart, who usually remains indifferent to his surroundings, you have to be the one to take initiative. However, he hates an overly pesky attitude. Trying to approach Shu somewhat carefully is best. All you need to do is be quiet and listen to what he says at the end of the day (DL Visual Fanbook Shu's Chara. Profile).
Immediate Family
Karlheinz (Father)
Beatrix (Mother)
Richter (Uncle)
Reiji (Younger Brother)
Ayato (Paternal Younger Half-Brother)
Kanato (Paternal Younger Half-Brother)
Laito (Paternal Younger Half-Brother)
Subaru (Paternal Younger Half-Brother)
History
Shu was born to Beatrix, the second wife of the Vampire King, Karlheinz. He was raised in the Sakamaki Castle located in the Demon World. As the eldest son of the family, Shu's mother focused all her attention on him in order to raise him into an heir. Being a little boy, he felt suffocated by the restrictions and responsibilities placed on him. This eventually led Shu to run away from home.
He used the underground passageways in the castle that connected the demon world to the human world. There, Shu met Edgar, a human boy from a remote village. The two got along well and became best friends. Thus, Shu made a habit of running off to play with him, but he never revealed he was a vampire to him, afraid it would drive him away. (DL game: More Blood, Shu's Route). At one point, Edgar gifted him a german shepherd puppy. Shu promised his friend he would take care of the pup, only for his mother to take the animal away from him (DL anime: Sea. 1, Ep. 7).

Young Shu [left] (Sea. 1, Ep. 7). Little Shu [right] from Maixsu.
One day, Edgar's village was destroyed in a mysterious fire. Despite Shu's protests, he went into the fire and died. Although it wasn't his fault, he blames himself for his friend's death and developed severe trauma from the incident. As a result, Shu is distant with humans and is afraid of fire. (DL game: MB, Shu & Sea. 2, Ep. 19).
Reiji would also bully Shu through mocking jabs that he was useless and couldn't do anything for himself. This, in addition to the consistent pressure from his mother, cased him to withdraw from life. Shu soon lost interest in doing anything except when Reiji provoked him.
Beyond this, he has always had a passion for music since he was young. Once, his father gave him a violin as a gift. Shu believes he lost it, but it was suspected Reiji broke it (DL game: MB, Reiji's Maniac Prologue).
At some point, little Laito ate all the candies in the refrigerator and hid the candies wrappers in Shu’s pant pockets. Thus, Reiji scolded Shu instead of Laito. Shu says he’s still angry at Laito about it (DL 5th Anniv. Book: Shu's Interview).
As teenagers, all of the Sakamaki brothers were required to learn Japanese when moving to Japan. However, Shu is fluent in German because it's the native language of the Demon World.
In high school, Shu failed his exam and had to repeat his senior year. To punch him, his father exiled him to the North Pole. Shu said he had to be careful not to fall into the ocean. Ayato comments it was a real survival trip since Shu had to fight polar bears and was seen scratched when he came back home.

Relationships
Yui Komori: Because of his past experience with Edgar, Shu tends to push Yui away at first since humans die too easily. He does this by claiming she's bothersome, talentless, annoying and a waste of time. However, if Yui keeps pestering him to do something for himself [on Shu Routes], Shu will enjoy teasing her about wearing unattractive panties and bras. He shows a more perverted side than Laito because Yui seeks his attention. Shu also calls her lewd or dirty girl.
Reiji Sakamaki: The two brothers have a sour and hostile relationship. This is due to multiple misunderstandings and unfortunate circumstances of their past. In addition, their mother pinned them against each other for her approval. Currently, Reiji will insult everything Shu does if in the vicinity, while Shu will leave the room to avoid dealing with him. Additionally, his secondary rival for the girl he loves is Reiji.
Beatrix: Shu hated the training and restrictions she placed on him because it robbed him of a childhood. However, he did care for her because she mostly used guilt-tripping manipulation on him to make him behave the way she wanted.
Karlheinz: Even though he has received gifts from his father, Shu rarely communicates with him (DL game: MB, Reiji's Dark Epilogue). He doesn't like him because he believes Karlheinz is the main reason for all the burden and lack of freedom he feels.
Laito Sakamaki: Shu holds a grudge against Laito for causing him trouble once in their childhood.
Yuma Mukami: Although all the diaboys are rivals to one another, Shu's biggest rival for the girl he loves is Yuma.
Tumblr media
DL game: MB, Shu's End 3.
Kou Mukami: Kou and Shu relatively get along with each other. Due to being friends, in addition to Kou's compliments, Shu once asked if he would like to become his younger brother. Kou rejected the offer because "Ruki is best suited for him."
Shin Tsukinami: Shu once forcefully slept on top of Shin in his wolf form because he wanted to use him as a pillow (DL game: Lunatic Parade, Shuu’s [Sub scenario w/ Shin]).
What do you think? Did you learn something new about Shu's character? Did you like this article? If not, why? Please share with me!

King of Ogygia
So yeah this is my AU where Calypso successfully brainwashes Ody into being her pet man. I'm hoping to post the full fic to Ao3 at some point in the future but for now, here's the first 3 chapters condensed into 1 part. Also this is a rough draft so if u see any typos, no u don't.
+++
Summary: Every day for the past seven years, Odysseus had spent his time living in paradise with his beautiful wife. Calypso provides all that he asks and he gives his whole heart to her, as well.
Yes, she's a bit... demanding. But she is a goddess and he is only a man. It must be expected that, in exchange for such a wonderful life, there's some discomfort along the way.
Word Count: Approx. 5.8k
(WARNING FOR: on-screen SA, though brief, and some other depictions of domestic abuse.)
+++
Ogygia was a beautiful island, if not small. One could wake up at dawn, walk along the soft, white sand that met the sea, and return to the spot he started at by dusk.
Which was what he was doing. He’d asked his kindly wife to let him wander the shores on his own for once, wasn’t he finally ready?
When asked why he felt compelled to do so, he merely said he’d like some time and silence to think and to enjoy all the sights their home had to offer. After all, while she had gardens to tend to and tapestries to weave, he had little in terms of industry to keep his hands occupied. Whenever their sprawling home was damaged, he did not have to take up nails or a hammer to mend it, for his wife could repair any damage from rain or wind with a deft flick of her wrist. Nothing in her paradise could ever be broken.
She let him go, on the condition that he return by nightfall and not a moment later.
He understood her warning well, that there would be punishment if he disobeyed his dearest wife. So he packed a rucksack with enough food to serve as a midday meal and a waterskin, his sandals at the bottom of the bag, and set off at dawn.
It only took about half a day to reach the far side of the island. Here, the sand was still soft and white, but it grew cold under the shadow of the island’s mountain.
What Ogygia lacked in size, it made up for in splendid geography. Beyond the beaches, there was a ring of wooded land where all sorts of strange plants bloomed and where beautiful birds sang. And at the center of the island, a small mountain peak. The most magnificent thing about it was that the mountain was hollow; within its sprawling caverns hid a beautiful palace adorned with marble columns and balconies overlooking the sea from every angle. The mountain’s face was adorned with neat stone paths, creeks, fountains, gardens, gazebos and arches. Though it was a struggle to memorize all the routes, once he had them in his mind, he found it quite easy to go anywhere he wanted on the island.
This side of Ogygia though… it held somewhat less of a splendid sight.
A massive series of cliffs rose high over his head, nearly as tall as the mountain itself. The sheer rock, exposed to the wind and other elements, was a dull gray color. For the longest time, his wife had refused to bring him here, insisting there was nothing worth looking at. But he saw.
He saw the nests the seabirds made on the cliff ledges, could occasionally hear their cries. He’d yet to find any fledglings, leaving him to wonder if they had their offspring somewhere far away.
And there were tide pools in the shadows of the cliffs, who hosted an endless supply of little creatures to find. He had to be careful, though. At low tide, it was easy to walk out and find the secret entrances to underwater caves where more adventure awaited. Though they tempted him, his wife told him firmly to never venture there. She would not let him be caught by the high tide.
So he sat with his back to the sheer rock as he unwrapped and ate his salted fish, fresh bread, and honied dates, sipping his water as he watched the seabirds glide toward the horizon. Though he’d been walking for hours, he didn’t wait to pack away his belongings and continue on his way. If his wife found out he’d lingered on the far side of the island, she’d surely grow upset.
After about an hour, his feet began to ache from walking barefoot all day. He stopped to pull a hefty branch from a wiry tree by the beach and used it as a walking stick. His discomfort wasn’t to the point where he would want to don his sandals, so he kept walking. In truth, he wasn’t sure he’d done much thinking on this little trek of his. Mostly he thought of nothing, observing the lapping waves and enjoyed the silence that came with isolation.
After another hour or so, he shivered and came to a stop. He glanced over his shoulder, unsurprised and yet relieved to see no one there.
What was this strange feeling that compelled him to stop?
It almost felt like he was being watched, but he knew what it felt like to have his wife’s eyes on him. Beyond gardening, weaving, cooking, singing, dancing, and reciting poetry, his wife’s most favorite activity was to keep him within her sights.
Maybe if he had more time, he’d investigate. The forest, while lacking much complexity in its design, had fewer pathways than the mountain and it was easy to feel lost among the trees and foliage. He would’ve liked to venture outward. Perhaps there was some curious little creature his wife had yet to mention to him…
Making his choice, he tapped his walking stick against the sand and kept walking along the beach. He knew his wife would have dinner ready by sunset and did not want to disappoint her.
He kept rubbing the back of his neck as he walked, still bothered by the thought that something was watching him. Which was likely, all things considered. A number of animals also called the island their home. Some, like the rabbits and wild goats, he used to hunt freely. Ogygia was fully under his wife’s control, so the populations never seemed to dip as a result of his hunting. Though lately, he set traps and pursued prey less and less. There wasn’t much thrill in it, not like his occasional dream of a massive, wild boar charging at him.
With the sun sinking beyond the horizon, the air much cooler than midday but not unbearably so, he came around the final bend and upon the pathway that’d take him up the mountain at a gentle slope.
He stopped dead in his tracks and dropped his walking stick. “What?”
And then he was running.
He ran past the pathway that would take him home and dropped to his knees before the prone figure lying face down in the sand. Whoever they were, they didn’t respond as he touched their shoulder. Their face was obscured by long, brown hair and most of their body was covered by a ragged, wet chlamys. Fearing that, somehow, a corpse had washed up on their isle, he turned the body over with a grunt.
His eyes widened. It was a woman. Even with her hair a tangled mess, her skin having taken on a sickly pale pallor, he could tell she was beautiful. She had the angular nose and jaw of a proud, stately woman, coupled with a kind of serene grace to her soft lips.
He pressed his ear to her chest in the hopes she was alive. For a moment, he wasn’t sure he could hear anything. But faintly, very faintly, he made out a dull beat like a distant drum. He breathed a sigh of relief and fetched the water skin from his bag. Gently, he brushed the sand from the woman’s face and hefted her head and neck onto his knees. He was careful to let only a thin trickle of water into her mouth to avoid choking her. He stroked the length of her throat to coax her to swallow.
At last, the stranger stirred. She coughed, then groaned. He could hear the rasp in her voice and said, “Please, drink more.”
Though she didn’t open her eyes, she slowly drank more water.
“Don’t worry,” he said softly, unsure if she could hear him, “My wife is a healer, shell be able to mend you.”
He hurried to slip on his sandals before hefting the woman into his arms. Though he wasn’t a strong man, he found strength enough to hurry up the path toward home. He followed the sound of singing until he came upon the outdoor kitchen where they often dined in the evening.
“You’re nearly late!” a voice called, “It’s almost dusk. You had me thinking I would have to go out and-”
His wife turned around. Her supple smile fell from her face as she took in the sight of her husband, breathing hard and brow beaded with sweat, as he set the strange woman down on their dining table.
“Calypso!” he said, “Come-”
She was in front of him before he could blink, her hand wrapped around his wrist. She pulled him even closer, eyes narrowed and cold.
“Please,” he said, voice lowering to a murmur. He felt the hand around his wrist tighten. He knew what it felt like when his bones were on the verge of breaking, she did too, and she was merciful enough to spare him the pain.
“Who is she?”
He answered truthfully, “I don’t know, I found her on the shore. Can you help her?”
Calypso narrowed her eyes. She was always wary of strangers.
“Why would I do that?”
He stifled a flinch as he felt the pressure begin to build. He was losing sensation in his fingertips. He said, “I was once a haggard stranger on your shore. You spared me, won’t you extend the same kindness to another lost soul?”
Calypso dug her nails into his flesh. Thankfully, she kept them short so she could do her work more easily.
She asked, “You promise you only found her just now?”
He nodded. “Please, my wife.”
At last, she sighed and let him go. Calypso waved her hand and the chairs flew from the table. She turned the woman’s head from side to side, frown deepening as he fetched her jars of herbs and ointments from the storeroom inside. Calypso, ever the healer she was, rubbed some sort of salve on the woman’s chest.
It was so pungent, it made his eyes water. But he stayed, curious to see how his wife would tend to someone else. Once, maybe a long time ago, she nursed him back to health as well and saved him from the brink of death.
Using some hot water from the pot over their fire and a handful of herbs, she crafted some kind of herbal tea. Calypso blew on the surface as she delivered it to the table.
He tucked one hand under the woman’s head and raised it ever so slightly so she could drink more easily. Calypso drip fed the woman, her face laced with disinterest.
“My dear husband, if this doesn’t work, then this poor woman should be considered a lost cause. You might as well get to work chopping some trees for her pyre in the morning.”
After a moment, Calypso added, “Or we could bury her in the garden, put her to good use.”
The stranger surprised them both by sitting up of her own accord to go into a coughing fit. Her coughing had a wet quality to it, though he couldn’t tell if it was from the sea water or the tea. He winced in sympathy for her.
“Where-” she began. Tears laced her eyes from how fitful her coughing was.
He quickly said, “It’s alright. You’re safe here.”
Calypso shot him a look that he knew very well as a silent warning. He urged the woman to lay back down.
As she blinked her eyes, he could see that they were the loveliest shade of green. Verdant like a field in early summer. Of course, not quite as lovely as his wife’s golden, immortal eyes, but fair enough for a mortal.
“Thank the gods you’re alive,” he said, glad to see the woman was not as close to death as he was when he first arrived at Ogygia.
His wife cleared her throat. “There’s only one goddess here.”
“Of course,” he said, daring to hold out a hand. Calypso took it and squeezed, refusing to let him go. “My apologies.”
The woman’s eyes narrowed slightly as she stared at them. “Who are you?”
His wife pressed her other hand to her chest, “I am the divine Calypso, queen of Ogygia. And this is my dear husband, Odysseus.”
Since his wife, wise in ways beyond that of mortals, didn’t seem interested in speaking further, he asked, “Tell us, where have you come from? Who are you?”
The woman’s eyes shifted from Calypso to meet his own. She sat up slowly, unblinking.
“My name is Penelope.”
A lovely name.
“Well, Penelope!” he said, “We have plenty of food here. And rooms, too. If my wife and queen is willing to oblige.”
Isn’t that right, Calypso?
But his question died on his tongue. Odysseus had seen his wife in all manner of moods. He’d seen her happy, calm, solemn, and furious. He thought he knew her well by now.
But the sheer venom in his wife’s eyes as she glared at Penelope was unrivaled by anything he’d ever seen before. Her hand squeezed tight around his own and Odysseus didn’t even have a spare second to warn her, to plead, to calm her before–
Not a sound passed his lips as a clear crack sounded through the still air.
Odysseus only turned his head away so that their guest could not see him grimace. A sharp, throbbing pain began to radiate from the side of his hand, running from his thumb to his wrist and quickly spreading.
Calypso blinked and schooled her expression, but she didn’t let go of him, seemingly content to ignore the fact she had broken his hand. Perhaps that was for the best. He knew she didn’t mean it and it would be preferable to not scare their guest. He was sure she had survived horrors of her own on the open sea and did not need to witness more.
Odysseus cleared his throat and put on a smile. “Ah, so, who else is hungry?”
+++
(SA starts here)
This was his punishment.
Nothing needed to be said. Nothing needed to be explained to him. For all the ways he was a fool, he knew what he’d done.
He brought another woman into Calypso’s house, even carried her in his arms.
Odysseus went through dinner without complaint, ignoring his injured hand even as it throbbed and hot sparks seemed to shoot through his arm every time he flexed his fingers. They were silent throughout dinner, Calypso uninterested in entertaining, Penelope hungry and reserved, and Odysseus trying to not mind the pain.
They gave their guest a room, one far from their own wedding bed. He was grateful for this.
Almost as grateful as he was for the sight of his beautiful wife over him, the curve of her bare breasts and soft hips visible in the moonlight. She’d let her hair down, her delicate braids flowing over her shoulders. Calypso devoted so much time to her hair and it showed; her braids were dressed with beads of gold, pearls from the sea, and streaked with a rich, lavish violet dye that came from her own garden.
He felt the weight of her golden stare upon him and attempted to reach out to her, to pull her into a kiss, but she would not be cajoled. Instead, desperate, he touched her waist. She let him, but didn’t do much else.
His other hand, his injured hand, was pinned to the bed by his head.
Calypso moved effortlessly, rocking herself on his cock as she pressed her thumb into the flesh of his palm. Not enough for it to hurt, but just enough that it was a constant reminder.
He was never certain if it was a trait of the divine or just his wife, but she could do things to him. Make him do things, too. She could manipulate his body to her liking, just as she was doing now. Odysseus had no idea how long he laid under his loving wife, only that it was late into the night and he was tired.
He craned his head back, taking labored breaths as he remained throbbing, leaking, wanting, even though he was exhausted and Calypso’s ministrations had begun to hurt.
He whispered, “Please…”
They’ve gone at it like animals until sunrise in the past, though that was mostly back when he was new to her island and still learning how to please his wife. She could be ravenous when she wanted to be. And while she could stir the lust within him with no effort at all, just a snap of her fingers, he was just a man.
He caressed her hip. “Calypso...please…”
Finally, she spoke. “But doesn’t it feel good?”
Odysseus’ head swam. He wanted to rest. He wanted his wife to take pity on him.
The thumb against his palm pressed ever so slightly harder, sending fire through his veins. He choked out, “Of course it does.”
“Don’t you love me?”
The pressure was unrelenting. Her hips had slowed to a ceaseless grinding. He gasped. “I do.”
At last, Calypso leaned down. He tried to meet her for a kiss.
Her lips brushed against his ear. “Then act like it.”
She twisted her thumb into his palm. His hips bucked as his teeth clenched and his wife hummed in satisfaction. He felt so wet and hot, and tired. Despite the pain in his hand, a disorientating numbness had also settled deep under his skin. The air smelled of sweat and lust.
It took a while longer until she was satisfied. When she was, Calypso settled against his side, her bare body against his own. He cradled her close. She traced her fingertip in circles across his chest before splaying her palm flat against his skin. He had so many scars and yet she still loved him, still called him handsome.
Her fingers trailed up to his throat and caressed the side of her neck.
She closed her radiant eyes and sighed, “This is why I shouldn’t let you wander on your own. You always get into trouble.”
“I’m sorry.”
She didn’t respond. Odysseus exhaled slowly and closed his eyes, sinking into a fitful sleep as his hand and body continued to ache.
+++
When morning came, he knew she had forgiven him.
Odysseus woke up and was met with no pain and the ability to freely flex his fingers. The rest of his body was free of any discomfort as well.
Such an amazing healer. He rolled over and kissed his wife awake.
The sun was only just rising. Their gossamer curtains fluttered with the gentle breeze. Some days, they were both up early to tend to whatever needed tending. Other days, Calypso willed a soft rain to befall the island. The cool, sleepy weather would compel them to stay in bed all day long, lounging and feeding each other fruit and whispering sweet nothings. Such was life with a goddess.
Calypso’s eyes fluttered open and she smiled at him.
He whispered, “Morning, sleepyhead.”
She yawned and stretched her legs. She suggested a bath together and he agreed, thinking he should clean himself up before facing their guest.
There were multiple options when it came to bathing in Ogygia. There were a number of mountain springs where the water was always clear and clean of debris. Or they could venture deeper into the mountain, where a system of hot springs awaited them. There was also a plain old bath house a short walk from their chambers, it held a rather nice view of the island’s south side.
Calypso took him to her favorite waterfall carved into the side of the mountain. As she stood under the spray, letting the water run over her face, Odysseus pressed his chest to her back and kissed the nape of her neck. They were nearly the same height. She stood a touch taller than himself, his gracious and buxom wife, and he only loved her more for it.
He felt her hand reach back to caress his hair. He grinned softly.
Without warning, she forced his head forward until he was under the fast-flowing water. Odysseus sputtered and murmured his protests against her shoulder. When she let go of him, she was laughing as he pushed the wet hair from his eyes.
“Very funny,” he said.
But the important thing was that she was laughing. Nothing mattered more to him than his wife’s happiness.
When it was his turn under the waterfall, Odysseus had that strange sensation of being watched again. He glanced around but found no one else present, not even their guest. It was just him and Calypso, wasn’t it?
He soon waded out of the water as Calypso finished drying herself off.
“So…” she said, donning a beautiful emerald peplos trimmed in white. “How are we going to get rid of our intruder?”
Odysseus froze as he rubbed a towel through his hair. He stared at her.
“What do you mean?”
“Her,” Calypso said, as if even speaking Penelope’s name was beneath her, “We can’t have someone else on the island with us. You know that.”
Well, it was true that wherever Penelope had come from, she was never going back.
Calypso fitted a golden band around her wrist and said, “Now, if you aren’t willing to kill her, then I’ll have it done by sunset. What do you say, Ody?”
He used the excuse of dressing himself to hesitate. Odysseus donned the iris colored chiton his wife worked so hard to weave and dye. Such a color was typically reserved for royalty only, but even the finest and rarest dyes could be made in abundance here.
“Odysseus,” she said.
He sighed. “It seems cruel to kill her while she’s helpless.”
Calypso approached him. He leaned forward without being told as she tied a silken strip around his head to keep the hair out of his eyes. One by one, she slipped the leather bands over his wrists and laced them tight.
“My tender-hearted husband, then what are we going to do with her?”
He wanted to ask why she was so against someone else staying with them on the island. Perhaps Penelope was god-sent to provide them with companionship. Why refuse her refuge when Odysseus was given endless kindness?
But he knew the truth. Penelope was a woman, and Calypso as the resident goddess-queen had no interest in female company.
“She might not recover from whatever she’s been through.”
Calypso gave him a skeptical look. “So you’d rather she have a long, slow death?”
“I’d rather see what the Fates have to say about her, before we do anything.”
She didn’t seem very happy with his response. If she wanted to kill the newcomer, Odysseus would have no way to stop her.
Calypso sighed. “Either way, her life ends.”
“As you wish,” he said. It was getting to be mid-morning now. He should bring Penelope something to eat and drink, at the very least. Hunger was a terrible beast, and thirst just as wicked.
Odysseus ventured down to the storerooms and filled a tray with bread and spiced olive oil, fresh figs, and ripe olives. He knew the water on the island was safe to drink without intervention, but thought it’d be more polite to offer their guest the opportunity to drink according to her homeland. He didn’t know much of the outside world, but was aware that the water was unclean and had to be mixed with wine to make it potable. He filled a larger pitcher with water and a smaller cup with wine.
Penelope’s quarters consisted of a guest house at the foot of the mountains, shaded by the lush forest and complemented by a pond where a pair of white swans were known to frequent. He entered the front exterior, climbing the marble steps and venturing inside, where the far wall was hewn from the mountain’s very stone and dotted with uncut gemstones.
“Penelope?”
He set the tray down on the nearest table and ventured farther inward. He was surprised to find her on her feet, examining the tapestry upon the wall of her bedroom. Threads of sapphire and silver mimicked the crashing waves at midday. Her hair hung in loose tresses around her face, still stiff from saltwater.
Penelope met his eyes and didn’t seem startled to find him in her quarters.
“Good morning,” he said, “I’ve brought you something to eat.”
A little songbird had settled on the windowsill above the front entrance and was warbling out its pretty melody. Penelope followed Odysseus and took a seat at the table. He sat across from her at a respectable distance and pushed the tray closer to her. She stared at him.
“Does your hand not hurt anymore?”
“Hm?” he looked down at his hand, “Oh, no, no! I’m fine. Please, eat.”
She didn’t eat. Her green eyes seemed cold despite the sunlight streaming through the windows. She pushed the tray until it sat in the middle of the table and said, “I feel it inappropriate to dine while my host does not.”
It was true that he didn’t have anything to eat yet. Most mornings, he fixed himself a meal. Sometimes, his wife joined him. But being a goddess, she didn’t have quite the same need for food as he did. She simply ate when she wanted to.
Then it occurred to Odysseus that maybe Penelope was afraid. He offered a smile as he took a bit of bread, proving that nothing had been poisoned or tampered with.
Penelope finally plucked a fig from the small bowl on the tray. She took a bite of its supple flesh and chewed slowly, brows furrowed in confusion. Odysseus chuckled softly. He knew the food here was perfect. As an island paradise, every bite of every meal was without flaw. It was something that took time to get used to.
For a little while, the two of them sat and ate in silence. Odysseus was amazed that Penelope had recovered so quickly, when he had vague memories of being bedridden for days, or even longer, when Calypso first found him. He was weak, malnourished, and suffering from multiple infected wounds.
Penelope was first to break the silence, “Tell me something, o’ King of Ogygia.”
Odysseus cleared his throat in surprise. “King? Please, you misunderstand! It’s only myself and my wife here. And while she’s certainly queen, I’m only her husband.”
Penelope was silent for a moment. She studied him, her eyes narrowing before her entire expression smoothed over. She leaned forward and asked, “Where are we? I’ve never heard of any island by the name of Ogygia.”
He was beginning to realize that Penelope might very well make a full recovery. Which meant she may have to learn of Ogygia’s true nature, that no one can leave. But why torment her with knowledge she didn’t need to know yet?
And if she was going to die, she might rest more peacefully having never known the full truth. He pitied her silently, as he would never age or grow sick while he called this place his home.
Odysseus gestured to the paradise outside, “Well, it’s Calypso’s island. Her paradise. You cannot find Ogygia by searching for it. As far as I understand, it’s simply a matter of fate if the island finds you.”
Penelope nodded in contemplation. She continued to study him. Of all the questions he expected her to ask, she found one that nearly made him shiver in the warm morning sun.
“Then… if you are no god, where did you come from?”
His smile began tighter, more pinched, as he tried to answer honestly, “I don’t know. Whatever life I had before… I don’t remember. Calypso tells me I was very hurt when I arrived. I assume whatever injuries I had led me to forget.”
He shrugged and added, “Or perhaps I was bewitched!”
Odysseus chuckled at such a silly suggestion and stood. He was going to take a walk through the gardens and thought the fresh air might do Penelope some good. She agreed to accompany him. He walked at a slower pace than usual to accommodate Penelope's gait. She walked slowly, as if fatigued already. It didn’t bother him, he spent the time pointing out the many beautiful fixtures the island had to offer.
Past the series of stone arches draped in vines and flowers, the pathway split into two. One led farther up the mountain while the other led to another guest house. Odysseus walked right past it, ignoring the building with its overgrown ivy nearly concealing it from sight.
“The bath house is up ahead, if you’d like to… Penelope?”
Odysseus suddenly realized he was alone. He looked around and spotted Penelope making way for the neglected guest house. He jogged after her, confused as to what could be so interesting about this place.
By the time he caught up with her, she was standing in the open doorway, gazing inside. He came to a stop next to her, but found nothing of interest. The house was as it always was, dim inside since the vines and ivy overtook the windows. The air was a little stale and musty, and cold.
Penelope spoke softly, “You say this island is a paradise, but this place stands neglected and derelict. Why?”
Odysseus didn’t have an answer. “I’m not sure. It’s my wife’s will.”
This was the house she kept him in while he was recovering, however many years ago that was.
“What are all the markings on the walls?” Penelope asked.
He looked closer. He’d nearly forgotten.
“Oh, I did that,” he said, embarrassed, “I suppose I was overcome with a little bit of madness at the time.”
The walls of the modest house were covered in thin scratch marks. Not erratic like an animal, but in neat rows.
“I think I carved a line for every day I was here. I can’t possibly fathom why, though.” Odysseus laughed and rubbed the back of his neck, “I’m grateful for Calypso’s patience. I doubt most women would forgive their husbands for vandalizing their house.”
It was probably why Calypso did her best to hide this building from sight. She didn’t need it and Odysseus wasn’t comfortable being reminded of his confusing, maddening past behavior.
“Come, there’s more to see,” he said, eager to leave.
+++
What a coincidence it had to be, for a woman named Penelope to arrive on her shores. Calypso was certain it was his Penelope defiling her island at this very moment. The two of them acted as if they had never met before, but what if it was a ruse on that wretched woman’s part?
Penelope could simply be biding her time, waiting until she thought Calypso’s guard was down to steal her man away.
But Calypso was no fool. Odysseus was her love, her husband, hers now.
It had made her stomach twist to see Ody carrying another woman in her arms the night before. It made her furious when he left this morning to fetch that bitch something to eat, believing Penelope was nothing more than a wayward traveller.
But Calypso knew better and it was up to her to protect her husband from any pains his past might bring.
In a moment when she was alone, Calypso closed her eyes and concentrated her divine power. She was no mere nymph; she was the daughter of Atlas, a goddess of beauty and magic. Calypso searched her island for a host and found it in a songbird nesting in one of her branches.
Ogygia was hers to control. All its inhabitants made up her domain.
She poured her mind into the little bird and took flight, following Odysseus as he wandered down the path to Penelope’s quarters, bearing a tray of food as if he were a mere servant.
Calypso watched her husband sit with Penelope and even eat together. It disgusted her, made her want to flood the island up to the guest house’s level so that Penelope could drown. But alas, her poor, foolish husband would be in trouble, too.
Odysseus caught her attention when he said, “...and while she’s certainly queen, I’m only her husband.”
At least he knew his place. At least he remembered who he had to be faithful to.
Penelope was a clever one, probing Calypso’s unsuspecting husband for information. She seemed curious about him and where he had come from.
It could’ve all been a coincidence.
But Calypso was no stranger to fate. She was stranded herself on this isle with no company for a century. The only other times she saw another face was when the occasional god came to visit her with stories in exchange for the ripe fruit or luscious flowers from her garden. But that was only once a decade if she were lucky.
Then her Odysseus came. Her handsome Odysseus, who needed her hands to heal his broken body and broken heart. But he was a married man when she found him, another cruel twist by the fates.
Now that he was her spouse, she was never going to let him go.
Especially not when faced with her greatest challenge yet, another woman.
Calypso took flight and entered a window high in the mountain where she landed upon the floor of her private chambers. She pulled herself from the body of the poor little bird, now dead from the strain of carrying divinity within itself.
Her husband knew better than to venture here, to the zenith of the island. Calypso’s most powerful potions and charms laid hidden here, accrued over the many lonely years should she ever need them.
Stained glass windows in shades of emerald, sapphire, ruby, and gold threw colorful, shifting beams of light across the floor, where a mosaic of the heavens resided. Marble columns lined the circular room. The tables and shelves here were all cluttered with sealed boxes and bottles, some glowing and others humming faintly with power.
Calypso waved a hand and a heavy, wooden chest popped open. She rifled through its contents until she pulled out a bottle that fit in her palm. It looked as if it were filled with plain water, but she knew better. This was the end result of much trial and error until she had a colorless, odorless, tasteless, and lethal poison.
She closed her hand around the bottle.
“You can’t learn,” she said to herself, “You can’t remember. I won’t let you.”
All she had to do was mix this poison with their pitcher of water at dinner tonight and Penelope will be dead by morning.
Calypso herself might have a faint stomach ache, but it was a price worth paying. Though she wasn’t quite sure of how it would influence her husband, she was more than able to protect him from death here.
“I’ll keep you safe,” she promised. Safe from the world, from his past, from himself. It was what any good wife would do.
+++
Alright! That's all I'm posting for now!
FYI, it's made pretty clear throughout the fic that something's up with Penelope & it's really clear after this part that something else is going on with her. Sorry to spoil the fun, but it's actually Athena in disguise. She's doing some recon on Ogygia to try and figure out wtf happened to her bestie bc she really thought for sure that Ody would recognize her.

For day 5 of @terroryuriweek - alternate universe
(click for better quality!)
Portrait of arcane navigator Le Vesconte and saint-guided navigator Fitzjames, who were assigned as core navigators for the expedition tasked with mapping out the spatial anomaly known as the "Northwest Passage". Taken in 845 A.C. near the skyport of New Greenhithe, colorized.
More about them and this AU under readmore:
This is the Skyship Navigators or simply Navigators AU, which exists in a universe I created a couple years ago, and just plonked the Terror guys as women in there. Actually, there are 2 stories taking place in this world before this AU which have nothing to do w The Terror, but more on those at another time.
In a nutshell, this universe is somewhat similar to our Earth, yet the rules of magic, science and such are different. No machine more advanced than a steam engine can really exist in there; at least, not in a large scale because of Anomalies.
Centuries ago, an event called the Seven Days of Calamity happened, which then made advanced machinery unusable, and caused pocket disturbances all over the planet (think of the book Roadside Picnic or the Divine Cities trilogy). These Anomalies vary in shape, size and abilities, but they essentially made land travel very risky and travel by sea nearly impossible. This is why humanity uses skyships for trade and travel, and the role of navigators has changed as well.
Because in the aftermath of the Calamity, new powers entered the picture: the fae, the arcane and saints which each existed before, but on a much more obscure scale. Also, there is no Christianity or Catholicism here they way it is in our world, it all works differently as the saints don't pray to God to grant miracles or to save someone, they themselves help their navigator.
There are 4 types of navigators: the Faeguided, arcane navigators (commonly known as ‘conduits’), saint-guided navigators (c.k. as ‘vessels’) and the Comedians, a rogue faction relying on lost then unearthed knowledge. Their job is to ensure the ship takes a safe route through the sky, with some help.
For brevity’s sake, arcane navigation relies on harnessing arcane magic to find safe paths, but it is highly addictive, and prolonged usage will lead to loss of sensation in the limbs and then to gradual paralysis. This can be mitigated by using arcane yet again to regain feeling, but this will make it all worse in the long run. But it’s the most powerful navigation type, as a conduit can also protect the ship itself from outside damage by conjuring shields.
Saint-guided navigators, as the name suggests, rely on the guidance and protection of their patron saint, each navigator having one. It is the “safest bet” of navigation, and the most prestigious. The Aerial Admiralty, who issues out navigators and deals with their training prefers it over the others.
Now for Dundy and Fitzjames:
Henriette Tamsin Dundas Le Vesconte (or Dundy to her friend(s)) is a middle-grade, but competent and reliable arcane navigator, assigned to be the core navigator on HMS Erebus alongside Fitzjames, with HMS Terror having saint-guided navigators Garnet Gore (originally from Erebus, a last-minute change) and Johanna Irving. Dundy is easy-going and easy to like, yet under the surface she can be quite headstrong and selfish, and can sometimes treat people with elegantly disguised impatience. She and Fitzjames have known each other since their early days at the Admiralty, had a thing back then, split while remaining the best of friends, but still land in each other’s arms from time to time.
Now, “She Who Lights the Way”, James or Jamie Fitzjames (she uses both) is the poster child of the Admiralty, the ideal saint-guided navigator. Her patron saint is Saint James the Unblemished (partly why she decided to stick w James), whose jawbone she keeps sealed inside a compartment in her helmet (many vessels do this with relics). Normally, a prolonged patronage of a saint leads to the loss of individual identity, hallucinations and dissociation, but so far James remained largely unaffected. Graceful, decisive and brave, she is often first in line to protect the ship and has been employed on warships before, earning a gilded reputation. However, she keeps her past battle injuries a secret and her presence can be somewhat of an annoyance with her seemingly endless anecdotes. She never said it out loud, but losing Dundy would be a great tragedy for her, as she remains her best, and perhaps only friend.
But much will change during the course of that fateful expedition…

Tumblr media
genres: dating simulator, otome, comedy, romance
Did you ever wanted your favorite book character become alive? Of course, you did. So in this game MC has a chance to meet characters from books and even fall in love with one of them (or with every one of them). Because they came out of their books to help MC open her aunt's bookstore in time. You will have a lot of work, but also plenty of time to spend it with your bookish bachelors. You can talk to them, found a place in our world that they would like to visit for a date, and even read into their story - literally - and find more about them.
Tumblr media
This game is pretty short, cute, funny and colorful. It is lighthearted and heartwarming, with a tiny bit of drama. The art style is unique, because it differs for every character.
Tumblr media
Because a novel is so short, romance feels too rushed, of course. Characters confess love after two days knowing each other. Ok, let's call it love on the first sight.
Tumblr media
(yeah, on the first day it is too soon, let's talk about love in two days)
The other problem is that each route alone lacks a conclusion. I think that a little scene in the end would be nice. But after all, if you finish all the routes, you will have a conclusion and some bonus pictures.
MC (Nameable)
Tumblr media
MC got a degree in English literature, but now she has a writer's block and in the meanwhile decided to come and help her aunt with the bookstore-opening project and maybe gather some inspiration for writing in the future. Hopefully romance with a book character will help with it.
Tumblr media
She is funny, sassy and independent, but kind. I would say that her personality more or less depends on the character she is pursuing
My rating 4/5
Love Interests (MILD SPOILERS AHEAD):
Tumblr media
Klaus
Tumblr media
Klaus is literally the strong silent type. He is the knight from a fantasy novel and he doesn't talk a lot, but when he does, it is appropriate and to the point. He's really so cute, especially after first date. How can you not love a man, who loves all the creatures, big and small? And also cooks! Definitely a keeper.
Tumblr media
My rating 5/5
Dr. Vincent Asimov Nightshade
Tumblr media
Nightshade is a [mad] biology scientist from a sci-fi novel. He has seven PhD in botany - and other kinds of fantastic botany. A typical tsundere, and I love tsunderes, scientists and men in glasses. He's a bit of a narcissist, he likes talking about himself. He's sassy, clever but in fact you will find it east to embarrass him, because deep in his soul he's bashful and afraid of his own feelings. So he's confused, but it is a good thing that he will have MC at his side to help him sort the thing out.
Tumblr media
My rating 4,5/5
Rosamel
Tumblr media
Rosamel is the opposite of Nightshade. He's a poet from a fairy tale and he's in love with love. Sweet-talking, tender and romantic. Prepare yourself for a full-time love bombarding from him.
Tumblr media
He seems giddy and airy, but I really loved how bittersweet his backstory turned out. You'll find out why despite his appearance his favorite color is blue and not pink.
Tumblr media
My rating 5/5
Amos
Tumblr media
Amos is a PI from a mystery detective series that MC liked as a kid. He's working with a bright young detective girl and speaks very fondly of her. So he's the only one whom MC really knew before. He's funny, smart and has got a bubbly personality and a zest for life. There's so many things that will light his interest. And he won't stop talking about them.
Tumblr media
For me his story and character were a bit bland, not my cup of tea, but he is a nice guy anyway.
My rating 4/5
Morgan MacAllister (Mac)
Tumblr media
Mac is a sea captain from a classic adventure novel which MC has heard about, but hasn't read, because she was intimidated by the seriousness of it. Probably it is a reference to a Moby Dick, though the plot of Mac's book ші different.
Tumblr media
He's looking pretty much intimidating and not very talkative. Definitely not a romantic. But if MC chooses to know him better, she'll find out that he has a kind heart and a crude sense of humor. In the past he was harsh to his crew and did thing that he regrets now. But nevertheless now he's caring about MC and tries hard to help her and make her feel comfortable.
Tumblr media
My rating 3,5/5
Overall:
Visual: 5/5
Story: 4/5
Characters: 5/5
Romance: 3/5
Originality: 3/5
My Rating: 4/5
The game is free! You can get it on itch.io

“   Even in the darkest night, if you strike a match, the shadows will flee. This is a law of nature; the darkness yields to the light, no matter how small the flame. ”- Shaera to Dany
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Daenerys looks at the Lady Velaryon from behind her shoulder as she turns to face her, with the green dragon Rhaegal snorting smoke and staring directly at Shaera. The Queen of Meereen slowly nods in agreement shuddering as she recalls the House of the Undying in Qarth, the way shadows grasped and clawed at her. It was only through Drogon that she was able to escape that place alive, leaving it a ruin. Clad in the colors of House Targaryen and a crown of amethyst and three dragons upon her silver gold hair with bells interlaced with them, Dany sits on her pillows. It was an exhausting law of nature, truth be told. Soon, House Targaryen was leaving Meereen and Dragon's Bay behind to begin her conquest of Essos... then Westeros.
After the rest of the slavers were crushed by Ser Barristan Selmy, the Unsullied and her supporters while she was away in the Dothraki Sea, the siege had been lifted momentarily but only enough for them to buy some time with the slavers' remaining soldiers establishing themselves further down the Ghiscari coastal roads. Victarion Greyjoy's Iron Fleet and the magic of the red priests of Rh'llor utterly crushed the Volantene fleet capturing hundreds of ships in the process and Tolos quickly being defeated by Victarion and the Meereenese fleet in Yaros and the Battle of Fire took longer than expected, that is, until Daenerys rode forth to Meereen with all the might of her now united khalasar, sworn to her under Vaes Dothrak. The arrival of the dragon queen and her horselords in such sheer numbers sent many of the slavers' armies into a frenzied panic, with many sellsword companies either deserting or turning their cloaks for her and the masters were forced to return to their walls. The Dothraki considered such a thing a sign of cowardice and they had been proven right.
She had just returned from making quick work of razing Yunkai to the ground and burning Astapor for their insolence leaving Ghiscar and the Skahazadhan open again. Elyria surrendered willingly by sending tribute; Tolos resisted and sent a pitiful excuse of an army up the demon road to blockade the Painted Mountains only to be taken quickly by storm by Victarion and the combined Meereenese fleet and later Yaros while the army was away. Qarth had been a short, bloodless siege for the city of merchants were meek, especially when she flew over the three walls of Qarth on Drogon. She had rejected all peace proposals to execute those who betrayed her including the Pureborn, and the Ancient Guild of Spicers, both of whom wished for her death, and Xaro Xhoan Daxos for the Qartheen had scorned her most when they betrayed her. Xaro, the thief so sick with greed, had told her that the Qartheen loved the clink of gold most of all so after she had her bloodriders drag him out of his palace she gave him all the gold he could ask for by pouring molten gold into his eyes, ears and mouth just as Khal Drogo gave her brother Viserys so many years ago, his face seared inward and spilling at her feet. She would have their complete submission and nothing else. She decreed that the Tourmaline Brotherhood give portions of their wealth to the common people, that all the thrones made of great woods, gold, amber, onyx, lapis and jade be destroyed so that the gemstones and woods be used for her supplies, trade routes and house the poor and seven of the Thirteen must be chosen by freedmen henceforth forevermore and left with several chests of riches, precious jewels and spices, treasure ships, eight hundred ships from the Tourmaline Brotherhood, all thirteen hundred ships from the Ancient Guild of Spicers that she'd taken after executing every single member in the guild, a thousand ships from the Thirteen and camelry, all the things that the Qartheen once denied her she took it herself. New Ghis surrendered shortly afterward and sent an elephant cavalry as tribute; it was wise to do so after all they'd heard. Qarth and her colonies Qarkash, Port Yhos and the island of Qal followed suit. The Jade Gates were hers. Daenerys then used a glass candle to gaze upon Asshai beneath the Shadow and touched the dragonhorn Dragonbinder gifted to her by Victarion Greyjoy after he had told her the dangers of King Euron I Greyjoy, how he'd traveled to Valyria, taken Valyrian armor and glories and riches beyond imagining and his intentions for the kraken to marry the dragon much to her horror, and read books on dragonlore and sorcery given to her by Marwyn the Mage of the Citadel. With every passing day, Daenerys Targaryen felt more like a dragonlord sorceress.
Now she has finally returned to Meereen to consolidate her forces and has destroyed the Sons of the Harpy once and for all and executing her royal husband Hizdahr zo Loraq for conspiracy and treason, sending ravens to every daughter of Valyria save Braavos, proclaiming herself as the successor to the Freehold, and all must submit or be brought fire and blood. She would leave Meereen to bring her enemies to heel. She would fight so that no child would ever know what it meant to be bought or sold, and she had every intention of continuing that fight here and beyond. She intended to marry off the sisters, daughters and cousins of previous khals still fiercely loyal to Khal Drogo's cause to her vassals so they could rule those cities in their husbands' names then have them killed in the frontlines of war, reward those loyal to her and place them in high positions in her armies and households, highborn or lowborn, and forbade the selling of slaves, theft, fighting among the Dothraki, hunting of animals during the breeding season, and exempted the poor and the clergy from taxation.
Daenerys' next destination was westward henceforth to Mantarys then Volantis where she intended to throw the masters she'd spared into moats by catapults before crushing them with siege weapons, use her elephantry to charge her enemies, break their ranks instilling fear and terror in them, fly over the Black Walls and set the Old City aflame and let the slaves revolt against their masters like the red priests preached. Most of the work would be done for her, really. Volantis likely didn't require much of a siege or a battle at all, it was simply set up for failure. High Priest Benerro had made certain of that, the red priest Moqorro had reported, with the way thousands of slaves and freedmen gathered in the temple plaza every night to listen to him scream of bleeding stars, a sword of fire that will cleanse the world, that Daenerys Stormborn was the one who was promised, from the fire of Khal Drogo's pyre she was reborn to remake the world, breaking the chains and liberating the slaves, crucifying the masters for their sins and her dragons were firemade flesh. With the Volantene fleet destroyed in Meereen, they would be unable to defeat her armada at sea and lost any advantage they had, the most prominent sellsword companies were either in Westeros as the Golden Company were currently fighting in Westeros for Aegon VI Targaryen, changed their cloaks to Daenerys or destroyed in Meereen, and the majority of the tiger cloaks followed the Lord of Light Rh'llor, and not to mention the popular support she already had amongst the followers of the red god. The siege would be short. Who knows, perhaps the grand revolution would already begin before she even arrived. The true doom of Volantis was its slaves, for it had more slaves than anywhere else in the known world outside of the recently liberated Slaver's Bay, and with the Masters utterly destroyed, Volantis was now the last major practitioner of slavery from the Bones Mountains to the Sunset Sea. Most of the slaves would know this. The rest would be left unsaid. Volantis and all her holdings along the Rhoyne would fall to Daenerys, with many of the city's elites slain.
After Volantis falls, she would reach a zenith, for there would be no one left on the continent of Essos to put up significant resistance to her after she brought the entire coalition of slavers and the most powerful of the Free Cities to heel. With the common people behind her, a few Westerosi knights, several sellsword companies, the Unsullied, a united Dothraki horde at her back, an elephantry, a camelry, large siege weapons taken from Dragon's Bay and some bought from Yi Ti, her armada, and three massive firebreathing dragons, no one in Essos could stop her. With Volantis and her holdings upon the Rhoyne defeated, she would claim the Rhoyne and sail up the river to capture the northern Free Cities of Qohor and Norvos after the others—the Quarreling Daughters Lys, Myr and Tyrosh—would wisely submit, end slavery and welcome her as House Hightower of Oldtown once welcomed Aegon the Conqueror.
Perhaps there was some level of merit to being raised in the Free Cities with Viserys. Dany had loved seeing the ships that came in and out of Braavos as a child so when she asked a sailor from the Summer Isles if she could have a ride on one, the man kindly agreed, and it was one of the most lovely experiences in her life but when she came back to port, Viserys was furious and she'd woken the dragon as he pulled on her hair, screaming that that man could have been one of Robert Baratheon's assassins and he'd kept a closer eye on her ever since, and she'd been grounded in the Sealord's palace for a month. The girl didn't necessarily mind, however, because she could play with the animals in the Sealord's menagerie. She remembered begging Viserys to attend the Festival of the Unmasking and he accepted once they'd received Ser Willem Darry's permission. Dany had worn a dragon mask of crimson and ebony fabric and purple silks that night while she had fun amongst the common people. That was one of the rare times that she enjoyed her girlhood. She'd loved to sit under the cherry blossom trees in Illyrio's manse in Pentos, where it was said that he'd gotten them from the fabled lands of Yi Ti. Dany recalled absolutely adoring the painted glass artisanry, the Myrish lace dresses but most importantly how she desperately wanted to attend academy to learn more about the world, but Viserys thought it would be too great a risk, but in subtle rebellion, she would sit closely nearby when a class was taken outside and listen very carefully. She remembered Viserys having them dye their hair with Tyroshi dyes in multiple different colors in shades of blue, red, green, indigo and even purple to always be one step ahead of Robert Baratheon's assassins. It'd taken his pride but it was better than having their throats slit; she'd wondered if the Tyroshi would make an intricate set of armor for him one day. She barely remembered Lorath and Norvos save for the freezing temperature, mazes created by the mazemakers and the three beautiful bells. Dany recalled having watched a ritual sacrifice to the Black Goat in Qohor in horror and fascination. She used to play in the Rhoyne in on one very long and hot summer day with other children while remembering being absolutely in awe with the Long Bridge and the Black Walls of Volantis while they were under the protection of a noble Volantene family known as the Qoheros, who were heavily involved with the gold and spice trade in the Far East and having three separate manses, one within the Black Walls, one in the city of Volon Therys and the last in the city of Valysar. She remembered playing on the beaches in Lys, running for hours along the sand under the palm trees and into the clear blue waters, and on the rare occasion, she'd managed to get Viserys to make castles of sand where they'd make their ancestral homelands in the sand and to come play with her in the water as she laughed when he'd carry her on his shoulders pretending she was the Queens Rhaenys or Visenya on dragonback; it had been one of their only fleeting happiest moments.
Using her knowledge of the cities and the magisters, archons, and merchant princes who once welcomed the last Targaryens in their homes (only for them to shut them out the longer Robert Baratheon the Usurper reigned) to her advantage, she intended on splitting her forces into two to strike northern and southern Essos at once before the rest of the smaller slaver cities formed another alliance against her. While Daenerys and her main host took Volantis, the Dothraki horde would ideally take both Qohor and Norvos. Daenerys had need for the beautiful colorful armor for her Westerosi knights and sellswords said to be superior to the armor made in Westeros and unrivalled Valyrian steel forges of the Qohorik, for they were the only ones in the world to this day who still possessed the knowledge on how to rework Valyrian steel. Archibald Yronwood had told her that the late Quentyn Martell's mother was Mellario of Norvos and she'd intended on sending Gerris Drinkwater home to Dorne with Quentyn Martell's bones while Archibald Yronwood stayed behind with her to give the Norvoshi noblewoman the news of her son's death intent on winning her and her ex husband Prince Doran Martell of Dorne's allegiances after explaining everything that had happened with Yronwood as her personal witness. Lorath did not practice slavery so she had no need to march further north, the Lorathi along with Saath the last city of the Sarnori people would submit to her rule without any complaints nor objections; she'd intended to use the famed scythed chariots pulled by teams of bloodred horses and driven by both men and women of Sarnor for it was custom for men and women to make war together; the kingdoms of Sarnor and the Valyrian Freehold were once allies, perhaps a renewal would be beneficial. Pentos had no army. It would offer no contest, though she had every intention of paying Magister Illyrio Mopatis a visit after the words that Tyrion Lannister had told her about his treachery. She would give Pentos to the Tattered Prince and ideally Tyrosh to Daario Naharis. The Three Quarreling Daughters would likely have little if any sellsword forces left to defend them and if she played her cards right, she would make the Lyseni family of Rogare powerful both in Lys and in Westeros as they had been centuries ago in the Lyseni Spring after the Dance of the Dragons, for her ancestor was no other than Larra Rogare. It was wise to have more than one financial center for a country as the Rogare Bank and Iron Bank were long ago, too. King's Landing prospered due to the Rogare Bank and increased trade with the Free Cities of Braavos, Lys, Myr, Pentos, and Tyrosh, and other cities and towns of the Seven Kingdoms greatly benefited as well, including Duskendale, Gulltown, Hull, Lannisport, Maidenpool, Oldtown, and White Harbor, and with the financial debt caused by the Baratheon Dynasty, it would be wise to bring more trade back to Westeros. After her conquest of Westeros was over, she had every intention of making trade in Westeros flourish once more. Perhaps she would begin her network of spies in Lys with the help of Daella Velaryon. Myrish lenses would be critical for her armies and scouts, too. Braavos was her final destination in Essos. House Targaryen owed a great deal of gratitude for the Braavosi, particularly the ailing Sealord of Braavos, and she'd have need of the Iron Bank; perhaps she could hire a faceless man or two. She had no intentions of using her armies nor her dragons on Braavos. Most of all, though, Daenerys Targaryen wanted to see her childhood home, that house with the red door and the lemon tree one last time before sailing for Westeros.
She'd already had plans for Victarion, the Iron Fleet and her armada to sail around Valyria while having already sent one of her bloodriders Aggo with a large section of her khalasar to threaten Qohor in the north while her main host of sellswords, her legions of Unsullied and freedmen, her two other bloodriders Jhogo and Rakharo and the vast majority of her khalasar and her dragons crossed the demon road she'd intended on renaming to the dragon road by right of conquest. With Yunkai and Qarth defeated, Daenerys intended to march across the dragonroad to defeat the last of the slavers' coalition. The Mantaryan army would be crushed and the city would fall soon after; she would punish the leaders of Mantarys for executing her envoys, leaving Volantis open. The Dosh Khaleen already called her The Stallion That Mounts The World whom her son Rhaego would have been before the Mother of Mountains and the Womb of the World after slaying her rivals Khal Jhaqo and Khal Moro with dragonfire avenging Eroeh and showing the Dothraki that she indeed was the Unburnt and uniting those who gathered in the Khalar Vezhven all into one khalasar.
She would never abandon her quest to end slavery in favor of the Seven Kingdoms, the slavers' vile retribution had done nothing but harden her resolve and Daenerys realized upon the Dothraki Sea that slavery must be ended everywhere root and stem before sailing for Westeros. Upon the Dothraki Sea, she knew that she was above all else a dragon, not meant to rule Dragon's Bay nor Westeros, but all of it, she was Valyrian and of the blood of Old Valyria and as such she would claim all of the realms of the old Valyrian Freehold and then Westeros like her ancestors Aegon, Rhaenys and Visenya Targaryen the Conquerors. This time, however, it was for a much nobler cause.
Daenerys was finally ready to leave Meereen and Dragon's Bay behind with a set of instructions for Skahaz mo Kandaq the Shavepate who she'd commanded to stay behind with her trusted Meereenese officials Galazza Galare the Green Grace of Meereen and several of her Brazen Beasts in the city after sending her cupbearers home to their families and pyramids. The Ghiscari and the Qartheen were now her vassals and Volantis was next. Dany had taken both Daario Naharis whom she'd recently freed in Yunkai and Irri into her bed that night to relish in their victory.
The armor and saddles she'd commissioned Tyrion for her dragons were just about complete and she'd need to talk about breeding them with him at some point. The ships in her armada were unlike any other, built like swan ships and a combination of techniques of both the Velaryons from their Summer Islands heritage, the fastest ships in the known world and the Greyjoys from the Ironborn reavers. Incredibly quick upon the open seas, it would greatly benefit her and her armies.
Dany would miss these gardens, her persimmon tree and the view of Meereen. The Red Keep of King's Landing was her true home, however. Drogon and Viserion flew above the Great Pyramid and over the armada that had recently just been completed, the red three headed dragons on black sails accompanied by ships of the silver Velaryon seahorse on teal, great ships of red Celtigar crabs on white, ships of the Greyjoy kraken on black, ships of the golden Tyrell rose on green and ships of the red and yellow Martell sun and spear on orange making her heart swell with proud joy.
She'd invited Shaera Velaryon who'd been the closest thing she ever had to a mother and one of her fiercest supporters since the beginning to her gardens in the queens' apartments to discuss important matters before they set sail westward to Volantis.
❝I have decided that as a reward for your loyalty to House Targaryen, I will grant House Velaryon and House Celtigar access and a base of its own in the Jade Gates as your ancestor Corlys Velaryon the Sea Snake and their ancestors sailed past them centuries before to contact Yi Ti, Leng and beyond to bring eastern trade back to Westeros. Now... Lady Shaera, do you perchance recall the House of the Undying in Qarth?❞ the Khaleesi asks, hoping that the other woman did, because it left bitter memories. The Warlocks were not forgiving, yet while she was in Qarth they were no more. ❝The warlocks were trying to consume me... but in that house of dust I received many visions. One of them... I recall discussing it with Ser Jorah. My brother Rhaegar stood with the Princess Elia Martell with my nephew nursing. He said that his son Aegon was 'the prince that was promised and his is a song of ice and fire' and 'there must be one more, the dragon has three heads'...❞ Rhaegal crawls forward, neck lowering slightly, bronze eyes changing from contracted slits to dilated slits and gives a friendly chirps as a greeting, almost as if asking for pets should Shaera be bold enough as the sun's rays illuminate his scales an emerald sheen, tail lashing. Daenerys looked visibly confused, her brows furrowed. Quaithe's visitations didn't help matters either.
❝I've half a mind to bring it up to Marwyn the Mage of the Citadel but I ask you first. You once told me you served my mother the Queen Rhaella Targaryen. You knew my brother well. Did Rhaegar ever speak to you of such things when he was alive? Lord Tyrion tells me that there is a pretender waiting to take my throne in Westeros as we speak. According to him the exile Griffin Lord Jon Connington assists him and Magister Illyrio Mopatis of Pentos has manipulated and lied to me, raising this pretender in secrecy and safety while he sold me to Khal Drogo. He claims to be my nephew Aegon VI Targaryen from the grave.❞ Her voice wavered with pain and venom. She had always wanted a family for so long she would've done anything for it. Was this truly her nephew back from the grave? Rhaegal screeched, several rows of teeth peeking out from his gumline as he growled, taking to the sky to join his brothers, ❝I believe that Rhaegar was right. The dragon has three heads. Three riders for three dragons. Two husbands, perhaps. Long ago, as I'm sure you know, Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and the Blacks called for dragonseeds, Targaryen bastards and descendants to ride other dragons to war promising knighthood, lands and wealth to anyone who would master a dragon. I intend to do the same. I may be their mother, but there has never been a rider who mounts more than one dragon; I will require control over the other two dragons if my conquest of Westeros is ever going to succeed like Aegon and his sisters have before me. Lady Shaera, whom would you suggest be capable of riding Rhaegal and Viserion? Whom would you suggest would be capable of such a task? I am the last trueborn Targaryen.❞

The route from Isafjordur to Dynjandi Waterfall takes you through the dramatic landscapes of the Westfjords, where steep cliffs meet the sea, and narrow roads wind through untouched wilderness. The Westfjords are one of the most remote and unspoiled parts of Iceland, making the drive a rewarding experience for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike.
The Dynjandi Waterfall tour from Isafjordur typically involves a drive along the winding coastal roads, offering panoramic views of fjords and mountains. As you approach the waterfall, the anticipation builds as you catch glimpses of Dynjandi from a distance, its powerful cascade visible even from miles away. The tour offers a blend of adventure and tranquility, with stops along the way to admire the Westfjords’ unique scenery.
The Magnificence of Dynjandi Waterfall
Upon arriving at Dynjandi, visitors are immediately struck by its grandeur. Dynjandi is actually a series of seven waterfalls, with the largest at the top, cascading down like a bridal veil. The main waterfall, Dynjandi, drops 100 meters, but when you factor in the entire series of falls, the total height exceeds 300 meters. Each waterfall below the main one has its own name and charm, contributing to the overall beauty of the site.
The Dynjandi Waterfall tour allows you to walk up a well-maintained path that leads closer to the base of the waterfall, giving you the chance to feel the mist on your face and hear the thunderous roar of the water. The hike is relatively easy and offers several vantage points where you can stop and take in the view of the cascading water against the backdrop of the Westfjords’ dramatic mountains.
The area around Dynjandi is also home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. During the summer months, the surrounding fields bloom with wildflowers, and birds such as puffins, Arctic terns, and eiders can often be spotted in the vicinity. This natural diversity adds another layer of interest to the Dynjandi Waterfall tour, making it an enriching experience for nature lovers.
Why Choose a Dynjandi Waterfall Tour from Isafjordur?
Choosing a Dynjandi Waterfall tour from Isafjordur offers several advantages. so the @thebreakfastgod posted these excellent looks yesterday and then I listened to “Test Flight” from the How To Train Your Dragon soundtrack for two hours and entered a fugue state and this happened
It’s hard to hear.
Between the band doing their best to egg the crowd on, the shouts and jeers and chants from the stands, and the blood making the ringing in her ears pulse a techno beat Kara can barely make out that Alex is speaking. Sam knocks their pads together, raising a brow when Kara meets her eye. A thumbs up with her good hand, a knock and grimace back around her mouth guard is all she has breath for at the moment. Plus Alex is halfway through her motivational speech. She’d hate to interrupt now.
“- and fuck Gotham thinking they can steal this game!” Alex is yelling now, more than her usual bark. Her eyes burn as she looks around the huddle. “This is our house, our game, our title!” The team growls their agreement around her, louder and louder with every word out of their quarterback. “We’re too far to kick and fuck stopping the clock anymore.” Alex locks eyes with Kara.
Black face paint smears down her cheeks from sweat and Kara knows for a fact Alex is two seconds away from chewing through another mouthguard this season. Kara’s own head throbs. Her wrist aches something fierce from that last tackle. It’s definitely sprained; maybe even fractured since she’s pretty sure she can’t move her thumb. But her sister is giving her the same look she used to when they were kids right before giving the neighbor boys hell.
And Kara feels like she could fly.
“Run the route,” Alex says, steady and firm. Kara nods. It’s Sam’s turn to get an order as Alex barks out the play - “Super Reign!”
Their yell is almost immediately swallowed by the crowd as they break the huddle. The techno ringing in her ears picks up again, beating faster as her pulse races. A quick glance up at the board only makes it worse. Twenty-three to twenty-seven, Gotham. Third and Ten. Fifteen seconds of play left in the game. And the play clock counts down underneath it all.
20…
19….
She knows she needs to focus, needs to line up, needs time to set in order for the play to work. But Kara stands unmoving from where the huddle broke and scours the crowd.
It’s dumb. She’s wasting time. She said she wasn’t going to come - she never comes to games. All noise and drunk bros and middle-aged alumni reliving their glory days through adrenaline filled kids slamming into each other on gridiron field… but Kara still searches.
15…
14…
“Danvers! Move it!”
Brainy’s obnoxious green hat sticks out in a sea of NCU blue and white and Gotham black and gold, Nia hopping from foot to foot next to him. They’re tucked about halfway up the stands behind the home bench, almost obscured by the giant frat bros in front of them. But Kara can just make out the hint of a blue and white beanie, crammed down over dark hair and a maroon scarf pulled up over what Kara knows is an anxiously bitten lip.
Lena came to watch.
12…
11…
“Kara!”
She’s half in position when Alex turns to spit fire. The maniacal look is back in Alex’s eyes as she calls out nonsense. Gotham on the other side of the line doesn’t even twitch. Kate Kane’s mouth moves in a smug sneer, taunting Sam with whatever trash talk she’s come up with between plays.
7…
6…
Sam tilts her head over her shoulder to meet Kara’s gaze.
5…
“Argo!”
Kara watches Kane’s mouth stop mid-word as Sam sprints backwards towards the pocket. Kara’s almost halfway to the line herself before Alex finishes the word. Her feet set, same time she knows Sam’s do behind her. One second. Two. Gotham’s golden helmets swing back and forth trying to track the last minute change of position.
“HIKE!”
The ball snaps and Kara’s over the line. No flag, no whistle. She’s free.
Time starts ticking down what little’s left in the game and Kara knows this is it. In the corner of her vision she sees the line shift. X’s and O’s run colorful arrows as the play runs in her head. A “fake” shovel from Alex to Sam. Gotham takes the bait, following the quarterback as she breaks towards the sideline, trying to stay in the pocket. Kara charges ahead. For a moment, Montoya’s in front of her, confusion plain behind her face mask as she watches something happen behind Kara. It’s just a moment. Kara’s already blowing past, counting in her head.
3… 2… 1…
She looks back just in time to see Sam launch the ball. Out of the pocket and miles away from the nearest tackle, Sam’s throw is a thing of beauty. An absolute rocket of a pass. One Kara would normally sit back and watch in awe and appreciation if it weren’t for the fact that her lungs were burning with the effort to push her body to the limit to catch up.
She’s not worried about being caught. Kane’s the only one with the speed to catch her and Kara’s pretty sure she’s fifteen yards back and away. Nothing between her and the rapidly approaching end zone but open field.
Just have to catch it.
The ball arcs down. Kara reaches up, hands flexing open. Her wrist pulses in protesting agony and suddenly something clips at her heels – Kane? Kara doesn’t look so much as shifts slightly to see a flash of black and gold barreling down on her.
And it’s brief. Only a second. But the check on Kane makes Kara fall the barest bit behind the ball flight path.
It’s just out of reach. Sinking closer and closer to the field. Kane’s almost on her and the end zone is right. There. Kara tries to go faster, tries to push off harder as she runs but there’s just not… enough… time.
Somewhere behind her Sam and Alex scream. The ringing pulse in her ears drops away and the crowd holds their breath.
Kara dives across the end zone line.
Later, they’ll tell Kara how Kate Kane ran like something possessed to catch up with her. They’ll show her replay after replay of her fingers tipping the ball back into the safety of her sticky palm, Kane dives for Kara’s ankles. They’ll ask her over and over again how it feels to make the championship winning catch with only one hand and a leap of faith.
But lying there in the grass, ball held up over her head and the fans roaring so loud she can barely hear herself pant for breath, Kara can only beam at the sky and wonder if this is what it means to soar.
