all white ensemble so far for the return and the new revolutionary arc = white representative of purity/innocence/new beginnings ?
wm40 was the death of his selfishness and cruelty as he lost everything and sacrificed his gold in order to protect cody, someone he was notably very cruel towards prior to their alliance. killing yourself to become something better. idk.

#I'm new to WWE#Have mercy on me#What would say his character is? I have limited knowledge
(disclaimer: i have not watched wwe regularly since 2019. i have a general idea of what seth's character arc has been but i cannot speak to the minutiae of his story since then.)
i'm always happy to educate and share knowledge. if you're really interested in him as a character and his story, you'd probably be best off watching everything he did (if you don't have a wwe network account or don't feel comfortable giving them money, this website can help you out), but especially from his heel turn in june 2014 to him winning the universal title at wrestlemania in 2019.
the thing is, seth was a selfish asshole. no one's disputing that. and according to seth himself, that was the first time he had a proper, defined 'character' in wrestling who was heavily featured on the shows and would cut long promos etc., so i think this era was really important in shaping his overall character. and it was the golden boy of the authority who betrayed his brothers for gold and glory. who fought with dean for months and months and did terrible things to him, stole the mitb briefcase from him, put his skull through cinder blocks, all while dean came after him relentlessly because he wouldn't ever let seth forget what he did to them. the 'we were just business partners' line is significant because i think that's how seth saw himself in the years following this. the calculating, machiavellian architect who did not have personal relationships, who put all emotions aside, who used people for his own purposes, who didn't care about anyone or anything but climbing the ladder to the top of the company. but he never could quite live up to it because there were always hints that he might have regrets, that he missed dean and roman, that he was lonely and miserable at the top of the mountain. every time he told dean 'it wasn't about you' it started to feel like he was trying to convince himself. nevertheless, he did it. even while alienating and betraying the people around him and self-sabotaging all meaningful relationships, which is a recurring theme in the seth rollins story, he did what he set out to do. he won the title, and was the first former shield member to do so.
fast forward 8 months and before the big title match he was supposed to have with roman, he injures his knee at a house show and is out for six months. i mean, besides how much this sucked for seth irl, that seems like karmic justice for his character, right? well, seth doesn't realise this yet. but he will.
he returns in may 2016 and immediately goes after roman who is the wwe champion after beating triple h at wrestlemania. the match is set for money in the bank. seth wins.
and then what happens? dean cashes in his mitb briefcase that he'd won earlier in the night. the title, that was seth's life, that was the only thing he cared about, snatched out of his hands five minutes after reclaiming it. more karmic justice from the universe. and seth's still oblivious.
seth loses to dean two times more and then loses to finn at summerslam for the brand new universal title (which finn immediately has to vacate due to injury) and then two weeks after, during the match for the vacated title, when triple h returns and he expects him to hand him the title on a silver platter -- he does the opposite.
and ah. now he gets it. well, sort of.
triple h avoids him for a few months and when seth finally confronts him, this leads to the most important part of the story. triple h has samoa joe attack seth and this causes a legit knee injury. yeah, the same knee. there's a possibility he might miss wrestlemania. and we get this promo. the week before wrestlemania, we get this promo from him to triple h.
he beats triple h at wrestlemania on one leg. after that, he reiterates that he's trying to be a better person now, to not take the easy way out, to actually earn the success he wants, and that it's because of the audience accepting and forgiving him that he could accept and forgive himself for his past.
but the audience's acceptance and forgiveness isn't all he needs.
i've talked about this a million times obviously but you can watch his and dean's reunion arc here. so seth apologises to dean, basically asks him to punish him if words aren't enough for him, teams up with him, saves him from beatdowns at a cost to himself etc. dean doesn't trust him and stubbornly refuses a shield reunion for a long time, although it's clear from his actions that he actually does want seth back too.
cue the reunion and the hugs and the title celebrations and the honeymoon period etc. and then cue the shield reunion and the hugs and fistbumps and brotherly love and backstage bickering and everything you could want etc.
even when he wasn't teaming with dean and roman in the early part of 2018, he was proving himself to be the man who would make them proud and make the fans proud. the workhouse, the fighting champion, the guy who didn't take the easy road, the guy who fought for and earned what he wanted, who would never quit. he became the underdog hero we all knew he could be.
what matters is: seth with dean and seth with dean and roman was a totally different person then. the opposite of selfish. yeah he still cared about titles and winning, like everyone does in wrestling, but there was no doubt that he loved dean and roman more than anything else.
and that continued until dean left in april 2019 and even in the months after with him and roman.
the messiah and visionary characters are more muddled to me. the best i can explain it is that he was pretty unmoored after the shield disbanded for the last time and he lost his title and the audience and the locker room rejected him and this was his way to try to control everything and everyone around him by proclaiming himself the 'leader' and 'saviour' of mnr. he'd kind of lost everything that mattered to him so what else was an insecure control freak with abandonment issues supposed to do? i don't know how much consistency there was in his actions and how much coherent character development happened through those years. maybe someone else who watched all of it can help you out. but seth as champ now and a babyface again thankfully -- he's talked about how he's finally being himself and the audience is accepting him and because of that he can be content with who he is and his life and his past (although he obviously still harbours some guilt and regrets which is only natural and understandable). which is what i always wanted the conclusion of his arc to be but unfortunately there wasn't as much actual onscreen development to lead him to this place as i would've wanted. he's also talked about setting aside selfishness and his own pride in service of doing the right thing, i.e. helping cody take down the bloodline instead of just focusing on his own title. so i think you can see why seth reverting to the guy he was a decade ago, to help someone who's constantly belittling him and has said he hates him and will never forgave him (after teaming up with seth for years and acting like it was all fine between them btw), would be pretty illogical storytelling and a baffling character decision.
in summary: what is seth like? complicated and conflicted and pulled in two opposite directions a lot of the time. i think his first instinct is still to put his own goals above everything, because he's just always been that extremely driven, ambitious person which isn't inherently bad, but he's made the choice when it matters to put the people and things that are more important first instead. he's probably still dealing with that insecurity that's always plagued him (because he's spent so much time and effort just wanting to be the best, to achieve everything there is to achieve, to go down in history, and he's still afraid of falling short of his own ridiculously high expectations) but i think now he's happier and more self-actualised than he was just a few years ago. seth's biggest character flaw to overcome for a long time was that he never knew who he really was or what he truly wanted and he tended to just twist himself into knots trying to become what other people around him needed and wanted from him instead of figuring out what really makes him happy without external validation. and what people don't appreciate enough is that seth is actually very emotional and sensitive and is driven by his emotions, which is the opposite of what his facade has come to be. he is very much all heart and you see that really shine through in his best storylines and character moments.
"seth's a selfish asshole! that's why we love him!" nah you're just a dumbass with a poor memory who doesn't know shit about seth and should shut the fuck up about him.

Crown Jewel 2024 (before post)
There's a wrestling PLE this week-end so here's my usual post where I note down my thoughts on it.
First of all, Crown Jewel. I'm not a big fan of Saudi Arabia politically-speaking, so it dampens my enthusiasm quite a bit. But I really wanna see some of the matches on this card, so I'll watch it anyway. I always do so via pirate means so at least I'm not putting money there.
Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill (👑) vs. Chelsea Green & Piper Niven vs. Meta-Four (Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson) vs. Damage CTRL (Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane) (WWE women's tag team championships)
I'm not a fan of how the women's division is booked lately. I tend not to like when all the tag teams are shoved in one match together, but it can result in cool spots. I think either Damage CTRL or Belair & Cargill will win this. If the latter do, I want to see Cargill do at least half the work for once. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Meta-Four, especially Lash Legend.
LA Knight (👑) vs. Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes (United States championship)
The match I look forward to the most. I want Hayes and Andrade to take their frustration out on Knight, for me. I think Carmelo Hayes will win (in an opportunistic way maybe) and I would be happy with that (I'd be happy with Andrade too).
Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens
I'm not very interested in this one. I think Owens will win, to further his current build-up.
Seth Rollins vs. Bronson Reed
I want to see Rollins wrestle (the only match of his I've seen was at MITB and I knew so little about wrestling then that I didn't notice anything), so I know what to expect for his upcoming feud with CM Punk. I think he will win, because it makes sense, but I really like Bronson Reed and want to keep seeing him.
Nia Jax vs. Liv Morgan (Crown Jewel championship)
I know there will be interventions left and right in this match, which sucks because I really want a squash. I want Nia to flatten Liv Morgan so bad, I can't stand her anymore. And I'm liking Nia more and more. I think she'll win, but it 100% depends on the interventions. I also want Tiffany to cash in, hopefully on Nia (but I also like Nia as champion so Idk).
Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther (Crown Jewel championship)
Don't care, do what you want <3
The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jimmy & Jey Uso) vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga and/or Tonga Loa)
Why not. I'm starting to like this story. The Jey and Jimmy reconciliation feels fragile yet, and (when I write this) we haven't seen Jey and Roman talk. We don't know yet who will be in the match on the New Bloodline's side (it's 3 against 4 for now). I hope Solo's team wins, because I like him and they need a win to credibilize them.

Some ramblings about wrestling soulmates:
I cannot stop thinking about the way that these stories are. Wrestling soulmates’ lives and careers are defined by their relationships to each other, their stories often deal with how they reconcile that. To be defined by someone else is to be forever dependent and reliant on them, and in Every Wrestling Story, at some point, someone in the pair gets bitter and snaps (Kevin steen, Seth Rollins). But they can’t stop loving each other just because it would be the convenient thing to do. At some point, soulmates find each other again, and embrace that dependence, that vulnerability. Kevin steen says he will be nothing without Sami zayn, Seth Rollins begs dean Ambrose to hit him with a steel chair, Kenny omega can finally look kota ibushi in the eye. They come to discover that there’s beauty in stories about love and love each other enough to keep seeking each other out, even if that means dependence. They choose each other, again and again. On a meta level, they chose each other even during that very first betrayal; in their kayfabe hatred they expressed their love. They will find each other across promotions, across decades because they love telling stories with each other and about each other.

WWE End of Year List - 2024!
My first full calendar year as a wrestling fan!! Normally my interests don't last this long but this one must be special or something. I had fun doing a list last year so it's time to run it back and see what's changed!
Wrestling is still so neat 🥹
Current Favorites
Commentary team: Vic Joseph & Booker T (AW YEAH MAAAAAN)
Faction: No Quarter Catch Crew aka NQCC aka WrenQCC 💛 (Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne, Tavion Heights, Wren Sinclair)
Men's tag team: Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) *The Wolf Dogs (Bron Breakker & Baron Corbin) were my favs for the first 4 months of the year till they split up. It hurts me that I can't put them in this spot. I WILL NEVER FORGET THEM 🐺🐶💞
Women's tag team: The Meta Girls (Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson)
Men's singles wrestler: Drew McIntyre
Women's singles wrestler: Longest reigning Women's US Champion Chelsea Greeeeeeeeeen
Storyline: Drew McIntyre: Bloodline Hunter *Drew out here with a 2-year streak of having my fav storyline at the end of the year, you love to see it
Misc Stuff (warning: major yapping ahead, this is where I'm gonna just let my thoughts out)
Went from Disliking to Liking: Seth Freakin Rollins *What a comeback from last year!! *"A man I could talk about for hours" - Cody Rhodes *Ahhhh so could I Cody, so could I... And I will - in another post because it was getting waaaaaay too long for this one!! *The very short version is that Seth was the hero of WrestleMania 40 and also the most consistently solid and believable character all year long
Went from Liking to Disliking: Sami Zayn *Okay hold on hold on! Dislike is a strong word!! *This category is more like an "I don't get it" type deal. Like how I didn't "get" Seth Rollins last year. I didn't buy into what he was doing even tho I was generally having a good time when he was on screen and his matches were always fire *Same is true for Sami now. I didn't love what they did with him this year. The build to him beating Gunther at Mania was weird, Bron beating him in under 3 minutes at SummerSlam was weird, this OG Bloodline situation is weird. He's just at the center of a lot of odd booking/storyline decisions imo *BUT this year has taught me to be very patient so I'm hoping 2025 turns things around for Sami like 2024 did for Seth!! This OG Bloodline stuff could end up being reeeeeeeally good if they just tighten up some things *One of the coolest things about wrestling is how every single character has potential to be your next fav, even if you don't vibe with them currently *I try to always remember that when I'm feeling kinda meh about someone
Best match: Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk - Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood 🩸 *They say being in a HIAC match can change a person forever but what they don't tell you is that just watching one can also change a person *I have been altered forever *This match is 31 minutes long and not a single second is wasted *Absolutely brutal and I love it so much *Also I finally started liking CM Punk after this!!
Best in-ring moment: Cody Rhodes finishes his story 🤩 *I mean what can I even say *Genuinely perfect
Best out-of-ring moment: The Rock beats Cody Rhodes bloody in a rainy Chicago parking lot *I was in the crowd for this one!!!!! Holy shit what a wild night
Biggest laugh: Crowd at Backlash - France singing that Phenomenal song whenever AJ Styles did anything in his match with Cody *LA LALALA LA LAAA LAAAAAAA
Biggest gasp: "You broke your neck... So what??" - Kofi Kingston *I still can't believe they said that shit oh my god
Thing I most want to see happen in 2025: Roman Reigns apologizing *If they do this right I will be sobbing on the couch *I WANT to be sobbing on the couch!!!!
It's been a bonkers year. And very special to me. Sooooo many things were first-time experiences for me as a new fan. My first Rumble, my first Mania, my first SummerSlam, etc. My first time going thru the heartbreak of a tag team split. My first time feeling frustrated that someone was called up from NXT and then barely used - or worse, released from the company. My first time seeing brand new titles get introduced. My first Miz heel turn!! My first KO heel turn!!!! It's been really fun to be active in the community and aware that these are all tropes but still get to experience them like they're new. And I haven't gone thru it all yet!!
There's so much more I could babble about that happened because of wrestling. Taking my mom to a live SmackDown (she had no idea what was going on but she saw Ludwig Kaiser in a dark match and decided he's her favorite). Hosting watch parties at my house for every PLE to force my friends to watch with me (they like it now!!). Making bingo cards for Mania with a square that said "finger stuff" for Pete Dunne's small joint manipulation and hearing everyone in the room scream when it finally happened. Going to the CW premiere of NXT and getting mediocre pizza from CM Punk after the show. Meeting neat people online and getting to read their thoughts on every episode. Having something to look forward to every single week. Making art!! Writing fanfic!!! Unironically becoming a fan of the Final Testament!!!! Oh my god there's just so much and I have to stop now or I won't get anything done today
Happy Early New Year!! 🎉
WWE End of Year List - 2023!
I've only been watching for 4 months but I wanted to write some shit down to see how my thoughts and feelings change in 2024
Wrestling is so neat y'all 🥹
Current Favorites
Commentator: Booker T
Faction: The Judgment Day 💜
Men's tag team: Pretty Deadly
Women's tag team: Piper Niven & Chelsea Green
Men's singles wrestler: Ilja Dragunov
Women's singles wrestler: Rhea Ripley
Storyline: Drew McIntyre's heelish quest for the world heavyweight championship
Misc Stuff
Started watching: August 14, 2023
Went from Disliking to Liking: Alpha Academy ✌️✌️
Went from Liking to Disliking: Seth Freakin Rollins
Best match: Carmelo Hayes v Ilja Dragunov at No Mercy
Best in-ring moment: Trick Williams winning the Men's Iron Survivor Challenge at literally the last minute at Deadline
Best out-of-ring moment: Jey Uso & Cody Rhodes's post-Fastlane press conference
Biggest laugh: The Miz's interview with an invisible John Cena
Thing I most want to see happen in 2024: Cody Rhodes finishing the story
Not a lot of niche or hot takes in this list but hey the big superstars get the most screentime so it's easier for me to form opinions on them. Also the list is very Raw-heavy but I like the characters and stories on there more than on Smackdown rn - that could change in 2024 tho! I wanna see more big things for Dragon Lee in particular 🐲

That Bastard Son
Pairing: Gen, but we all know what’s up. Words: 1.5k Rating: T, for suicidal ideation. It’s pretty casual and brief, but sincere.  A/N: I’ve recently come to terms that I find seth really relatable, so I guess I’m trying to redeem his fool ass to myself. whatever. title is from here.  Tags: let me know if you want to be tagged  @sleeplessandcynical @breadclubrising @kidvoodoo @205-live
“I think I actually want to die,” Seth tells Sarah on a Tuesday. Sarah is his therapist. She’s cool, he guesses, for someone he’s been paying for six months to help him deal with himself. He wouldn’t get a beer with her. Maybe go look at shelter dogs, or something. She’s that type of cool.
“You sound pretty casual about that,” Sarah says. She doesn’t write anything down, but that’s because she doesn’t have a notepad. She doesn’t really look anything like the therapists in movies do, which is kind of why Seth picked her to begin with. He’d thought that maybe it’d be more like just talking to a friend, instead of someone trained to crack his skull open like an egg.
It’s really not like talking to a friend at all. Seth’s only cried once in front of a friend, and he and Finn didn’t talk about it afterwards. Seth’s cried in front of Sarah more than thirteen times, and she always makes him talk it through when he can talk at all.
In some ways, having a therapist is a lot like wrestling. It hurts pretty much all the time, and feels incredible maybe an eighth of it. But the incredible part is worth it, somehow. Actually, now that he’s thinking it through, most of his hobbies have to do with feeling really shitty for a majority of the activity and high as a kite on the outcome. He’ll mention that to Sarah when he remembers.
"I think it’s been an ongoing situation and I’m just used to it,” Seth says musingly, leaning forward so he can prop his forearms on his knees. When he’d first started therapy, he’d sat up ramrod straight, like he was going to get points off for bad posture. Sarah had told him, in no uncertain terms, that you couldn’t win at therapy, and even if you could it wouldn’t be because of sitting, and then sat on top of her desk.
“Well,” Sarah tells him bracingly, “it’s not great, but at least it’s not an active death wish. Can you remember when you started feeling like that?”
She doesn’t watch wrestling. It’s another one of the reasons that Seth chose her. It definitely made sense at the time, but now he kind of wishes that she did watch wrestling. He doesn’t have an easy way to tell her that trying to get Hunter to fight him is definitely something of an active death wish.
“I guess-- oh. You know, actually, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this might be my brain finally figuring some stuff out.”
“Very mysterious,” She says. “You know I work hourly, right? Like, there’s an appointment after yours.”
“You’re the worst therapist ever,” Seth lies. She’s the best person he’s ever met, probably. “I’m going to be fighting my boss soon. And, uh, I guess I just realized that it’s at least a little bit his fault that my life sucks? I mean, it’s also my fault, because I’m the-”
She gives him a stern look. It’s apparently against the therapist code of honor to let him shit talk himself. It usually helps, but in this case it’s pretty inconvenient.
“-- Because I had poor self esteem, and I let him manipulate me, so I-- I just.”
“You turned your back on your two best friends and brothers-in-arms to get a guaranteed advancement in a company that you love?”
Seth looks at her, betrayed. Sarah looks unabashed.
“I thought you didn’t watch wrestling,” Seth mumbles, kicking his heel petulantly against the couch. The couch doesn’t do anything back, which actually makes him feel a little bad.
“I don’t. Seth, you know that I can and do Google everyone I work with. Not only am I nosy, I also like to be good at my job.”
Seth guesses that’s fair. He also likes to be good at his job. Googling your clients is probably the therapist version of watching 26 straight hours of Daniel Bryan matches.
“I don’t like it,” Seth says, sucking in his cheeks. He feels like a toddler, kind of, but Sarah is all about sharing his feelings and he is feeling this particular one very strongly.
“I’m sorry.” She tells him forthrightly. “I should have told you that I was going to. I wasn’t ever going to not do it, but I shouldn’t have sprung it on you like that.”
Seth blinks. He’s a little surprised by the quality of the apology. Maybe they teach that in therapist school. Wrestling school definitely left out good apologies.
“I-- thank you, that actually makes me feel a little bett-- Oh.”
“Oh?” She always does this. She’s pretty good at realizing when he has realizations.
“I think that I feel kind of-- I think I owe them an apology? I guess?”
“Is that a question? I’m pretty sure you know how you’re feeling on this one.”
He makes a face at her, and she grimaces back at him comically. She really gets him.
“I feel guilty,” Seth says slowly. “About how all of that went down. I’m not-- I don’t think I’m sorry for.. For doing what I did. Not exactly. I loved being champion, and I deserved it, but I think-- I was scared of them leaving me behind, so I left first and doubled down and that was wrong.” He peeks at her to make sure that he’s saying the right stuff.
Sarah looks thoughtful, and kind of like she’s processing what she’s going to say. It’s the most Seth’s said in basically one breath all session, so he’s happy to give her a second.
“It sounds like you feel that you owe them an apology,” She’s picking around her words in a way that she usually doesn’t. Usually, when Sarah talks like a therapist, it means that he’s really close to either an extremely good realization or an extremely bad one. Much like professional wrestling, there are very few mediocre moments in therapy.
“Yeah.” Seth says, more to himself than to her. “I would do it different, if I could, and since I can’t change it I want to apologize for it.” He looks up at her, brows furrowed. She’s perched on the arm of her chair with her chin propped up on her palm. “I don’t know how to apologize. I don’t think I’ve ever meant a single apology I’ve given.”
She nods, echoing his ‘yeah’, and then adding, “I think most people don’t. We fall out of the habit of saying sorry when we’re kids and we stop knocking people’s blocks over.”
“Can you-- is there a... Class? An apology class?” It sounds stupid as soon as it’s out of his mouth, but he doesn’t take it back because he really means it. Sarah is a proponent of the no stupid questions brand of therapy, and Seth is going to make her walk the walk.
“No one can teach you to give an apology that you feel, Seth,” She says, strangely serious. “People can tell when apologies are sincere. If you want your apology to be accepted, you’re going to have to really think about what to say and how.”
“That sucks,” Seth tells her, and he really means that, too.
“Yeah. Life would be a lot easier if there was an easy answer for everything.”
The contemplate that together, for a second, before she unfolds herself like origami and claps her hands on her thighs.
“We’re done for today?” Seth guesses, also standing and wiping his hands on the outside thighs of his jeans. His palms are so sweaty. Therapy always makes him clammy, even though he never really feels that anxious.
“We’re done for today,” Sarah agrees, herding him towards the door. She’s five foot nothing, but she makes a hell of a sheepdog.
Before he can fully reach the door, she stops him, one hand on the knob.
“Do you still want to die, Seth?” She asks him, and her tone is serious. He looks at her, and she looks back.
“No,” Seth says after a long moment. “I think I figured it out. I think I just want to move-- forward.”
“Good,” She says, and opens the door to let him out.
Seth walks to his car, feeling the kind of dazed he only ever feels after a hard session. It’s a washed-clean kind of emptiness, and he realizes that this is what people mean when they say a weight off your chest. He feels lighter, having a direction that he can go, even though he hasn’t actually taken a step yet.
His hands are shaking as he gets his phone out of his pocket and opens it up to the group text that he hasn’t touched since June 2nd of 2014.

Can we talk in person? I want to apologize. You don’t have to forgive me but I think you both deserve to hear me say it.

Hey! i love your ambrollins meta and basically your ramblings in general, so i was hoping if you could write a meta on seth's character? i love how he's a self-destructive asshole who is high maintenance, and makes bad decisions while he believes he's being pragmatic. he's arrogant, but I believe inside he's constantly anxious tbh. I've seen someone headcanon him as having intrusive thoughts and I think it fits very well. How would you characterise Seth? Sorry if this is random!
Oh, wow, I don’t even know where to start tbh. But rest assured, I’m probably going to keep talking about Seth’s character for a long time to come. I actually started writing a post a while back that was kind of a ‘defense’ of Seth Rollins – but not really a defense, because he’s legitimately done some bad shit. It’s more an exploration of his emotions and thought processes over the last year. And maybe I’ll finish it sometime. I just get annoyed when people dismiss him as just being a selfish, manipulative asshole – and I’m not saying he’s not that sometimes – but he’s so much more than that, too.
I think Seth’s one of the most interesting, complicated characters in WWE right now. And definitely one of my favourites. I actually relate to him quite a bit, personally. And I don’t know if I would’ve said that a year ago. His story over the last year is what got me really invested in him – because it’s a rare thing for a face turn to be so slow and so painfully realistic. And I think Seth was absolutely the right person to do that with. Because he had one of the most devastating heel turns ever, and then spent the next couple years being the most despicable person in the company – and you can’t just erase that with one moment or one segment or one promo.
And even now, Seth’s still a really flawed human being. And he’s not hiding that. I feel like he’s truly letting himself be openly vulnerable and emotional for the first time. I think that Seth tries really hard to compartmentalize his emotions, and sometimes it doesn’t work out so well for him. I sort of touched on the duality and conflict inherent in Seth’s character in an ask before, but yeah, Seth’s the kind of guy who would jump off a balcony to save his brothers one night and then betray them a month later – and maybe that seems like incongruous behaviour, but it’s not for Seth. I think Seth destroyed The Shield because he was afraid – he was afraid that it was going to happen eventually on its own and he’d be left behind and he couldn’t let that happen. So he did it on his own terms and said, and really believed, that it was best for all of them. (And can you really argue with him? They all became WWE Champion within the next two years.) But yeah, he didn’t expect it to blow up in his face the way it did. Because again, he’s bad with emotions, and especially with empathising with or reading other people’s emotional states. I think that’s completely clear most of the time he’s trying to get Dean to forgive him. He just doesn’t get it. He thinks that rationally, it’s been years since he stabbed them in the back, so there’s really no reason to hold any grudges anymore. Which is…not how real people work, Seth. But he’s getting better at it, at really trying to understand other people and putting their needs first – we’re seeing that every week with him and Dean.
And yeah, I agree that there is a lot of stuff going on in Seth’s head right now. And at all times, basically. He’s still struggling internally with everything that’s happened and everything he’s done. When he says he doesn’t trust himself, I believe him. When he says he thinks about the mistakes he’s made every day, I also believe him. I think there are still some dark impulses lurking deep within his subconscious, and time will tell if we’ll see them manifest or not. Seth’s a master of self-sabotage, as you said, and he’s usually the architect of his own destruction. He’s happy right now, that’s obvious – but I don’t know if he does well with being happy. He doesn’t trust it. He’s sure it’s going to eventually be ruined – maybe he’ll do something stupid and fuck it all up again. Or maybe Dean will remember he’s a lying piece of shit and leave him again. It’s a lot of shit to deal with, especially when you’re Seth and you’re always considering the possibilities and you always have an exit plan that’s meant for your own self-protection in case things go sideways. Except maybe he doesn’t right now. Maybe he’s finally content enough to not think so far into the future. Maybe he’s changed. ...Or maybe he hasn’t? We’ll probably find out eventually, and we’ll see whether or not it leads to his downfall.

on seth rollins’ redemption chapter, and his descent into darkness once again
considering that seth rollins has gone through an extensive redemption arc (and honestly, he’s the only character who’s actually repented for his sins), seeing seth ‘revert’ to darkness is like seeing a person who has defeated his demons but is now falling back into bad habits again. (i’m being kind of dramatic here, but still.) but the thing is, it was so liberating to see him finally snap.
see, it’s not the same kind of darkness that seth let himself be led into 5 years ago. his first heel turn happened because he wanted a better spot on the card. he felt like he was going to be left behind, and he felt like he wasn’t being appreciated enough, so he accepted triple h’s offer and turned his back on his brothers and, consequently, the crowd. he mocked them. he belittled them. he became a whiny, insufferable brat who was too chicken to do anything without daddy’s approval.
but after being betrayed by his father figure, he was finally able to put things into perspective and realise that he actually liked himself before he met triple h. the person who promised him the whole world on a silver platter had become his demon: someone he had to defeat to break away from the cycle of abuse. and he finally did at wrestlemania. but life didn’t stop there, he had to get back his two brothers he betrayed. it took a while, and he tried everything – just simple talking, sacrificing himself physically, imploring to be hit with a steel chair to make dean feel better – and finally, finally he was able to regain the trust of his brothers. and throughout this journey, the crowd he’d ignored, the same crowd he’d mocked and belittled back when he was a heel, began to support him again. by the time he won the ic title, they fully appreciated seth, and his genuine love and passion for the business.
and this supportive relationship between seth and the fans continued until they decided that seth was just not good enough. even though it took seth rollins years to regain respect and trust from the crowd, it only took a couple of days for the crowd to turn their backs on him. but seth, he wasn’t going to let that get to his head. he loved the business too much. he’s been through a lot, he’s learned to be a better person. he wasn’t being selfish here, no, he wanted his team, team raw, to be the very best and deliver the very best show, so that the crowd can be happy – but they failed to deliver at survivor series. he became desperate, so frustrated during the match at one point he screamed that he was the one who built nxt, and he would be the one to tear it down… only to let his ego get him eliminated from the match. this was the first glimpse into his destructing mind.
the next night, he held a ‘meeting’ with the whole locker room and demanded that they do better as a team. he commented that they all sucked. and hell, if veterans and other leaders like randy, rey, or charlotte refused to step up, then he would steer the ship and push his team mates to do better. but why is no one listening to him? he’s right, surely he’s right, he had only said those harsh words to charlotte, randy, and rey because he cares about the locker room–and obviously they fucking don’t–and yeah, he said some things he didn’t mean to kev, but hey wait, fuck kevin owens, he only thinks for himself… either way, i’m right, i’m seth rollins, and i’m the only one who cares about raw here, i’m speaking from my heart, unlike all those other guys who don’t give a shit about raw, i’m the only one who’s willing to make this better, what more do i have to do for the people to be happy? what more do they want?!–
and thus began seth rollins’ descent into madness. his need to deliver the very best to the crowd, his need to have his brand, the very brand he poured his heart and soul into for years, to deliver the best show, to make things right and get people to love them (him) again, but not being good enough for anyone began to eat at him. this was a different kind of darkness that was threatening seth. it wasn’t like a few years ago, where his darkness was in the form of greed to be the only guy at the top, which isolated him from the fans and his brothers. it was the fact that after dedicating everything to the fans, after doing everything for the fans, after caring about the fans too much, that was slowly isolating him from them again. his need to make things right was turning him into a villain again: a different kind of delusional, self-righteous heel.
and now? he’s finally snapped, and he’s finally asked the people, what more does he have to do to make them happy again? he fights through injuries, he works every single fucking week, he sticks his neck out for his company, he’s defeated brock lesnar twice to bring that stupid title back to raw, but even so people aren’t giving him the respect, the validation, he wants and craves from them. why did they turn their back on him? what does he have to do? does he have to go out into the ring and kill himself? will that make them happy? what is good enough for them?
after being treated poorly by the fans for so long, seeing seth rollins finally snap and demand an explanation from the fans, lay out the facts and accuse them of being fickle was quite honestly a liberating experience. and i’m sure it was liberating for seth, too: to finally realise and verbalise the fact that he wasn’t being treated right by the fans, by the people he would have done anything and everything for.
once a beloved, redeemed hero, seth rollins has made his descent into darkness to become the fallen hero.

Part two...
So Dean is different right?
And yeah Seth is so caught up in the excitement of having Dean back that he misses things or he chalks Dean's differences in behavior to him getting back in the swing of things.
But listen my dudes…cause this is important…
DEAN AMBROSE IS A GROWN ASS MAN!!
Dean in a lot of ways is more emotionally aware (and mature) then Seth will ever be.
Seth is inherently childish. He's the baby of The Shield in way more then just age. He's the least mature in damn near every way.
Dean getting mad at being called a lunatic?
Well, Deano? Nobody knows what bothers you unless….
YOU FUCKING SAY SO.
Especially if it's something you've never shown issue with in the past. We
This is my issue with putting the blame on Seth in this instance. Everyone is acting like Seth should have read Dean's mind.
It takes away from that fact that as an adult sometimes you have to put your big boy pants on and talk about your shit even if it's hard.
(I've always said that if Seth had talked to his brothers about how he was feeling instead of listening to Hunter the OG Shield Breakup wouldn't have happened but that's neither here nor there.)
So instead of saying anything, Dean keeps to himself.
And the rift between he and his brothers grows and grows.
Dean's got all these things coming at him from different directions
He's got his own toxic thoughts.
He's got the Dogs of War in his ear.
He's got Seth's and even to an extent Roman's perceived indifference to his situation.
Now I like many others have always headcanoned Dean as having some sort of mental illness. So this next part is with that headcanon in mind.
HAVING A MENTAL ILLNESS DOESN'T ABSOLVE YOU OF THE FOLLOWING THINGS.
(And before anyone tries to accuse me of ableism because Tumblr?…I'm Bipolar so I'm speaking from my own experiences here)
You still have to tell the people in your life that your hurting. Nobody is psychic.
When you fuck up and do shitty things to your friends..….it's still your fault
In the end Dean still hurt someone he professed to care about on purpose…at the worst possible time. Whatever excuse or reason he has doesn't make that go away.
So let's talk about last night…cause I have so many feels about that….
Seth was fucking PISSED
He wanted answers, he fucking deserved them.
When he called Dean cold hearted, and selfish and a lunatic?
HE WAS TALKING ABOUT THE WEEK BEFORE.
Dean took a moment that was supposed to be not only about Roman, but about Seth and Dean reclaiming what Seth thought was still rightfully theirs in a way
The Raw Tag Team Titles.
And Dean made it all about himself instead of about them all.
That's why I think Seth called him selfish and said that it was about the spotlight to him.
Seth is angry because now he's alone again and Seth doesn't handle being alone well.
A lonely Seth is a self destructive Seth, Seth is afraid of being alone because he's afraid of falling back into old habits. Without Dean, with Roman as even a guiding force? Seth…slips. Seth's darkness, the darkness Hunter helped awaken and foster and feed is still there, sleeping but there.
And now just as Seth inadvertently woke up a darker Dean?
But let's not pretend Dean hasn't probably done the same for Seth.
Angry, Emotionally compremised Seth does things like hijack a Takeover to call out Triple H.
This Dean is going to be supremely dangerous.
I don't think anyone is thinking about how dangerous Seth is going to be.
Dean wasn't really around for that portion of Seth's life. So I really don't think he understands quite what he's done.
As far as the crowd chanting you sold out?
I have to agree.
Dean emotionally sold out on Seth.
It’s been ONE WEEK Tumblr and I’m already completely over watching Seth be villified on my dash.
So *cracks knuckles*
Let’s focus on Seth for a moment.
Seth is a lot of things, not all of them good. He’s a very flawed man AND HE KNOWS IT.
He admits that joining The Authority was the biggest mistake of his life and for someone who is as obsessed with always being right as Seth, someone who strives for perfection as much as Seth does that’s huge. Like ridiculously huge.
Remember the Gauntlet Match?
Seth lasted an hour and five minutes, he beat Roman and Cena back to back….
And it wasn’t enough for him. In the end that amazing achievement DID NOT MATTER because he didn’t win the whole thing.
That’s Seth’s level of perfectionism.
When Dean got injured, Seth was devastated.
(A huge thing I’ve seen is people saying Seth didn’t care when Dean got hurt, I want to know what show they were watching then cause it sure as hell wasn’t Monday Night Raw.)
Seth took on JJ as a favor to Kurt Angle, a man that he not only admired, Kurt helped Seth and Dean when he could and tried to keep things as fair as possible, Kurt’s also ya know HIS BOSS so saying no wasn’t exactly an option.
JJ drove Seth fucking insane. When JJ DARED to even infer that he was a better tag partner then Dean…
SETH WENT OFF.
His exact words?“You will NEVER be Dean Ambrose”
Does that sound like someone who doesn’t care that his best friend was hurt?
Seth said flat out that he was struggling without Dean at one point but you know what?
Life goes on….
And after trying his damnest to hold on to the tag championships…
….after getting decimated by the Bar when JJ was injured during their match and then trying to reclaim them with Roman only to fail?
He has to find a new focus. So he focuses on doing the one thing he hadn’t done yet, that BOTH his brothers had already accomplished…
Becoming a Grand Slam Champion.
Along the road to Miz and the IC Title Seth rekindles his rivalry with Finn Balor and some and some of his fire returns. Finn has a similar effect on him that his brothers do. Finn fires him up. Finn is a worthy opponent…to the point where he even sometimes forgets that Miz is supposed to be his ACTUAL focus.
Seth wins the IC Title and due to Brock being Brock he’s The Man on Raw
Fuck Monday Night Raw, nah It’s Monday Night Rollins now.
Seth is in the spotlight like he always wanted like he was with The Authority but this time, it’s even BETTER
Because?
He did it the right way.
No shortcuts, no BS. He fucking did it for real.
Dolph becomes a thorn in Seth’s side, bringing along Drew and Seth is in a word FUCKED.
The numbers game is one Seth knows like the back of his hand. Hell most of Seth career is based on it.
There is no way Seth can take back his IC Title on his own.
So Seth calls in the ringer.
Dean.
And Seth is so excited Dean’s back he’s vibrating.
But Dean is…. different.
To be continued….

Shield Reunion and the Dean Situation
The Shield has always been beyond what WWE want it to be, at least in its last couple of runs. Its three men with mutual respect for each other as the work horses of the company they took over as theirs getting the chance to work together as one. Share the ring and a bond with the group that define their career and story. Shield shared a story that pierced through the characters they played and affected the men behind those characters.
Roman, Dean and Seth all were visibly shaken up when Roman made his announcement. That moment they shared with their Shield pose was haunted by a dark cloud. All three men didn’t know if they would ever get a chance to be together again as the Shield. A lot of stuff happened since then. All the hell broke loose for Dean with Roman being gone. He’s not a guy who’ll take shit that’s against everything he stands for. I genuinely believe lot of his frustrations came from the Roman situation and how WWE forced him to use something that was hurting him emotionally a lot for storyline purpose. And in the end it all served no purpose whatsoever and his heel turn fell flat. He was back to square one.
I honestly believe this ‘one last time’ reunion is more personal than anything else. Like I can go into deep details and analyze stuff but at the end of the day, the vibe I got off of it all was that these three men behind these three characters getting to have one final run as a unit that defined them all the best during the course of their careers cuz they might never get a chance to do this ever again.
Roman has been through an experience that has made him grateful for little things in the world. I know he would love to have his best friend stick around, be his road partner, but Roman’s also a very considerate guy. He would want what’s best for Dean. I’m getting a feeling that if Dean really leaves in the end - which I’m strongly feeling at this point - maybe he’s got some personal reasons rather than something business related. He’s happy ever since Roman returned. You can easily see it in his face and the way he’s performing. I don’t doubt that Roman is on the quest to get his contract situation sorted out, but at the same time last night’s events made me feel like Roman has made peace with whatever Dean decides. He’s gonna enjoy his boy as long as he has with him in WWE.
According to recent reports Dean hasn’t signed a new contract yet, and he’s not been given the creative control he wants but everything else has been offered. So nothing has changed basically. Maybe Roman wants to give Dean a good send off, hence the way they reunited. I also feel like when they are together as a unit, most of their stuff comes straight from them. So yeah, the emotional moments, the dramatic turns, I give all credit to the boys. Roman is influential backstage nowadays and after what he went through and still came back to WWE, I’m sure they wanna give him whatever he wants cuz they owe it to him. And WWE can be nice when it wants, with the people it wants.
So the point I’m trying to make here is, this reunion really is not based on storylines and long sorted out plots. Its not that deep and that’s how I feel. This reunion is for a possibly departing Dean, and sending him out on a high note alongside his best friend who loves him a lot. Roman and Dean deserve to spent these last few months together in case Dean’s leaving cuz they both have been through a lot in last few months and maybe that’s the one good thing WWE can offer Roman cuz they certainly can’t give Dean what he wants.
I also see some people complaining bout Dean not paying for what he did and Roman wanting him back like nothing happened...Lmao, its sad how many people claim to be fan of these boys but have no understanding of their characters whatsoever. Its like they don’t hear what Dean says, don’t watch the way he acts. Seth and Dean both have characters with ton of layers, there’s no black and white with them. Roman’s always been the guy who’s all heart and love. He’s the only saint out of the three. And at the end of the day, its widely acknowledged how badly botched Dean’s heel run really was and now he’s leaving WWE cuz of constant bullshit thrown his way. How are people having a hard time accepting this after his situation became such a public knowledge is a little strange to me. I mean, plot holes from WWE are widely accepted as a normal occurrence. Why can’t we have it for the sake of Dean departing on a high note and his best friends sending him off the way they want? Right by his side.
I would also like to add that Dean’s turn was based on emotional turmoil, and it was evident losing Roman fucked him up royally. People say for what he did to Roman’ and I’m like, he said some disgusting shit, but he put himself right in the same category as Roman. He implied him and Roman paid for their sins, and Seth still had to. Dean never went out to insult Roman, or called him names. Or said he never cared. He never even threw Seth’s past in his face. He was mentally in a bad place and he snapped. THAT’s the plot Dean was selling. No brainer. Then WWE creative stepped in and ruined the whole emotionally loaded storyline with their lazy disgusting bullshit that was filled with plot holes and ugly shit that made no sense and ruined Dean who suffered through such a personal blow to gain nothing in the end. Dean’s character NEVER recovered from that, and it got so bad that Dean decided to leave. We never found out the reasons and motives behind Dean’s doings, we never found out the reasons behind those tears. We never got the answers to those hints Dean dropped.
So really, what exactly should Roman be mad bout at him? His best friend, the man who was emotionally broken found a family in Roman. He found someone he could trust, love, without the fear of being betrayed by him ever. Roman has been the only one who has stood by Dean even when Dean was acting out. Whether it was over insecurities or his emotional issues. We have been led to believe Roman knows, understands and handles Dean better than anyone else can. So how can Roman not understand what has been going on with Dean? I see people saying Roman’s naive, but I think people are understating his character here. He has always taken great pride in being Dean’s only family. Roman no sold Seth’s reminder of Dean’s betrayal, its like he didn’t want to acknowledge it. Cuz really, he’s Dean’s best friend and knows him suffering such an ill fate and leaving Dean alone was meant to destroy his best friend mentally and emotionally. He accepts Dean’s flaws. He wants his family back. He KNOWS he can have him back. That’s what matters to him. He understands Dean’s turn was triggered by the news of his illness, and he knows now that he’s back he can have his Dean back too. Dean wasn’t greedy or some puppet...Dean acted like a mentally ill person. Roman knows Dean too well to not know that.
Seth on the other hand, he was rightfully wary. But he showed so much character and growth. He has always been selfish, but for once he wasn’t. He might not have such an open mind when it comes to Dean, cuz Dean and Seth don’t have a bond like Roman and Dean. But for Roman’s sake, he’s willing to be the bigger man. He also still cares bout Dean, and the Shield. I think the whole episode was beautifully done considering the awkward situation and the fucked up storyline him and Dean suffered post Roman’s departure. Also, Roman never asked Seth to apologize, and Seth had directly and selfishly hurt him for personal gains unlike Dean. So, basically if you understand Roman’s character, everything did make sense. Seth showed growth. Dean showed emotional vulnerability he should have based his heel run on but creative fucked it up. Roman showed what real life is all bout. Family. Love. Bonding. Living in the moment.
I hope people can look past the shitty part of WWE’s writing and just enjoy Dean with his brothers one last time, cuz we probably will never get a chance to ever have this again. That’s the feel I got. From Roman, from Seth, and even from WWE. These three men share a very deep bond, specially Dean and Roman. They should get a chance to celebrate it before their brother leaves for good.

this is a serious meta about the current ambrollins storyline
here’s the thing
if this storyline was about seth trying to prove that he is a bear, and dean trying to prove that he’s leather daddy, this would have made much more sense
dean doesn’t care about belts, he cares about titles and the title he cares most about is Leather Daddy. he’s worn leather jackets for the longest time, yet people only started calling him daddy once he got jacked. and he’s pissed off at that. it’s like, i tried to look leather daddy for the longest time, yet you only start calling me daddy now? and it pisses him off. he’s not in a good state.
meanwhile, dean’s also pissed off with seth’s lies. his lies? pretending he’s a bear. dean’s always called seth a stupid twink to piss him off (’seth, remember your emo twink days-’ ‘dean SHUT UP’) but to see him now parading around, claiming he’s a bear? it pisses dean off to his core. all lies. seth rollins has always been a lie. he has NEVER been a bear. how the fuck is he a bear? what a fucking delusional dumbass.
seth on the other hand, is desperate. becky’s taken his title as the man. dakota’s taken his title as the kingslayer. who knows, someone might even call themselves seth freakin rollins and no one would bat an eye. he’s scared. anxious. so he decides the only title he gets to keep? The Undisputed Bear of WWE.
but then, the undisputed era crashes in and tries to pry that title away from seth. ‘UNDISPUTED? you think you can use that title, seth? that’s cute,’ adam cole (bay bay) says. cue a friendly feud within the undisputed era about who gets to keep the title of The Undisputed Bear of WWE. (which, let’s be real, is none of them lmao)
now seth has NOTHING! NOTHING! he cries, dramatically falls into a heap in the middle of the ring. he’s crying. he hasn’t cried this much since dean hit him with a dirty deeds on the concrete after screaming, ‘YOU’RE NOT A BEAR, SETH!’ a few months ago. this is too much for him.
but no wait! dean comes into the ring. he’s been watching seth cry at his loss of monikers. he grabs seth’s shoulders. hugs him. seth is surprised. ‘No you don’t, seth,’ dean insists. ‘you don’t have nothing. you have the title... ‘OTTER’!’ that’s right. seth was never a bear. he’s changed since his emo twink days. he’s an otter. dean nods at seth encouragingly.
next part i’m gonna write like a script because i cant be bothered
seth, tearfully: oh dean ;-; you’re right. i’ve been denying this for far too long. i am... THE OTTER.
michael cole: well wwe universe this is how this story is going to end, their brotherhood has come together once again to celebrate their newfound monikers, their new titles. they have fought against each other for the past few months, but this is what is ultimately bringing them together. leather daddy and otter. good night everyone, we’ll see you next monday
*next monday night raw*
seth: hang on, why does dean get to keep leather daddy???
*everyone gasps. has the drama not yet finished?*
dean, in his og leather jacket: you called?
*seth is blown away by dean’s leather daddy aura. the charisma is overwhelming.*
seth: oh. you’re right dean. you are the leather daddy
dean: and you are the otter
they hug again. the feud has truly ended. the end

I was asked this on YouTube,
Do you think Dean would have betrayed Roman? In my opinion, Dean would never have betrayed Roman. It seems strange to me that I betrayed Seth just when Roman is no longer there. :(
and ended up with a meta type answer again. So I thought I'd post it here, too.
No, I don't think he'd ever betray Roman. When Seth turned on them in 2014, Roman and Dean kept their bond going. And nothing and no one could put anything in the middle of them.
I do think they are all very close and strong brothers, but I feel it's a lot like a real brotherhood. There is the one brother in the group that if you take him out, the other ones don't know what to do with themselves.
When Dean is emotionally compromised he returns to the little boy/teenager that was constantly abandoned and had to look out for and stick up for himself. He never fully forgave Seth or at least never fully could trust him again. And without Roman to be their to play mediator, Dean 's lack of trust in Seth not to leave him again to is what in my opinion made Dean snap. He has to hurt others before they hurt him is how I see this.
And in a way, Dean's fear was proven when Seth immediately went after him, calling him a lunatic, etc. To Dean that probably feels like Seth never saw him as anything other than the crazy, lunatic guy.
But anyways, back to your regular question, no I don't think he turned on nor ever would turn on Roman. Ever since Dean returned and has been feeling unwanted and out of place, Roman has tried his best to be there for Dean in a way that it seems Seth hasn't.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on Seth here. It just feels like deep down Roman and Dean may have a much stronger bond overall  than Seth and Dean. Of course, I'm not saying their bond isn't very strong, too. It just isn't as strong as it was before Seth sold out back in 2014.
But all in all, I don't think Dean will ever trust anyone more than he trusts Roman at this point. Therefore, it would never make sense for him to ever turn on Roman, and I don't think he ever would either.
