week11 Summative assessment prep-session1

In the 11th week of CTS, the theme was Manifesto. In this journal, I will describe the group manifesto created during class, my personal manifesto, and how CTS B influenced my design process.

Firstly, in the group manifesto, we selected four categories: 1. Communication, 2. Simplicity, 3. Attention to detail, and 4. Reflection.

Communication: We focused on designing to convey information easily. We aimed to minimize or remove unnecessary elements and create designs that allow important information to be easily and quickly perceived.

Simplicity: Inspired by Dieter Rams' design philosophy, 'Less, but better,' we emphasized designing with minimal elements to achieve maximum efficiency.

Attention to Detail: We concentrated on the underlying philosophy and intended meaning of the design. Simultaneously, we differentiated between important and unimportant elements, preserving the delicacy of the design.

Reflection: We adopted an attitude of continuous research to identify existing design flaws and strive for better designs.

Additionally, I will add my personal manifesto.

Innovative: I will fearlessly explore creative attempts that allow consumers to experience creativity in my designs. My proactive approach involves analyzing how I can transform new experiences as a designer, finding various ways to empathize with people. For example, when I first encountered techniques like mark making and cyanotype in the context of Image and Materiality, I didn't know how to integrate them into my design. However, through experimentation, observation of how other designers utilize these techniques, I found unique ways to incorporate them into my designs, developing my distinctive approach. I will continue to attempt to discover new designs from existing ones.

Find joy in what I design: In my opinion, if I don't enjoy my studies, exercises, or learning experiences, genuine results cannot be achieved. I believe that to create designs that are truly empathetic and resonate with everyone who sees and uses them, I must first enjoy what I design.

Lastly, CTS B helped me find ways to utilize my interests in design. Specifically, during the branding process for the Archifest assignment in the studio, inspired by the 9th-week theme 'Creative Process,' I used my interest in Brutalism architecture.

This interest facilitated the branding process as I integrated the concept and various references related to Brutalism into the branding, aligning with the keyword 'Sustainable.' Through CTS B, I learned how to apply the creative process to various design aspects, including texture representation and the boldness of buildings, which I learned from studying posters designed by Brutalist architects.

Ultimately, the most crucial aspect was the efficient utilization of my knowledge and the diverse references I consult for design, allowing me to apply them effectively to my new designs.

had our 10th session of dnd with my friends and omg I missed it soooo much

it was like 2weeks but it felt like forever and it was so fun

we made it to the capital city that we were all heading to since session1, made it to level3, registered our weird little group as The Blue Moons (cause that’s how often we’re useful, my friend thought of it and i think it’s amazing).

My character, Nym Suda a changling in disguise, saw some people from his past at the market docks, his young flame/crush that was partially responsible for the death of his parents and Nym being run out of town when Nym revealed his changling self. But there was also this guy that looked like my disguised form which means the random disguise I found ended up traveling with my lost love (poetry, heartbreak, intrigue!!! I’m so excited to see how this goes)

We did little actual quests, vermin hunting in shops, THERE WAS A FIGHT PIT TAVERN AND I GOT MY ASS BEAT! Incredible!! I was also told there was something familiar about the guy I fought, so I’m thinking my monk mentor in disguise or someone who trained under him We also rescued a fire breathing puppy that belonged to a nobleman's daughter so that’s got us some good rep
