I have to take a moment to pause and post this as it hits so close to home for me personally.
Tumblr media
I am electing to "borrow" and repost something I saw posted last year as it is so poignant. I hope you take a few moments in the next few hours to reflect.
On this day, 22 years ago (9/10/2001):
🔹️246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights
🔹️2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning
🔹️343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift.
🔹️60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol
🔹️8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift
None of them saw past 10:00am on Sept 11, 2001.
In one single moment, life may never be the same.
As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight, before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

50 years ago, today, the "other 9/11" took place in Chile
It was on this day that the democratically elected socialist Salvador Allende and his government was overthrown by C.I.A backed fascists, led by Augusto Pinochet.
Pinochet's regime would play straight into the hands of U.S imperialists and businessmen, implementing neo-liberal reforms that drove millions into poverty, persecuting leftists and labour activists, imprisoning and torturing and murdering tens of thousands of innocent people.
Remember the victims.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember those who knew and supported what was being done.
Tumblr media
Remember that this is what spreading "freedom" and "democracy" means to the United States.

I find it sad that saying October 7th was the most Jews killed in one day since the Shoah wasn't enough.
Like it wasn't enough to get most goyim to understand the magnitude of the massacre.
So then it had to be compared to 9/11. October 7th was X amount of times larger in scale than 9/11, October 7th was like if X happened on 9/11, etc.
It is so tragic to me that we had to compare our tragedy to another nation's tragedy to just get people to at least start understanding the magnitude and significance of what happened.

"Everyone was calling everyone. I was honored to call one of the family members of the 9/11 victims; I called the House Homeland Security Committee and [Secretary of Homeland Security] Janet Napolitano. While I was in the Situation Room, I overheard one of the White House operations, saying [on the phone], 'Oh, I'm so sorry -- I didn't know you didn't work for President Clinton anymore. Do you know where I can reach him?' President Obama was calling his predecessors, George W. Bush and President Clinton. The operator is trying to find President Clinton. I looked at him and I said, 'Hold on one minute.' And I stepped back into the main room, [Secretary of State] Hillary [Clinton] was there, and I said, 'Madam Secretary, I'm really sorry to bother you, but do you have your husband's phone number?'
-- Mike Leiter, Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, on the immediate aftermath of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden on May 2, 2011. President Obama was trying to get in touch with his immediate predecessors to notify them about the successful special forces operation and bin Laden's death, but there was some trouble finding contact information for former President Bill Clinton until Leiter realized he could simply ask Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the former President's phone number.

It’s late but happy 9/11 MCR day! As I said to my friends about 5 minutes ago; best thing to come out of 9/11 (fuck tsa).
I unfortunately met my friend’s boyfriend and he thinks MCR is trash. I think y’all should blow up this post to prove him wrong.

i hate that this is a controversial take but i don't find 9/11 jokes funny. making fun of the victims of a terrorist attack isn't edgy or amusing nor is it some sort of incisive intellectual political commentary. it's just pathetic and cruel.
and no. there is no excuse. ever. it's not ok to do it with victims of 9/11 or of any other terrorist attack. just like it's not ok to act like that about victims of any other horrific violence - whether it's a school shooting or a serial killer's murder spree etc.
people try to justify their cruelty in various ways but it's all lies. you're not critiquing US foreign policy. you could do that any time. but no. it's crickets from you the whole rest of the year until it's time to mock a day set aside to remember innocent victims of a tragedy. and then suddenly you've got lot's to say. that is not a policy critique. it's just vile.
and then you try to act like anyone who calls you on your behavior is stopping you from engaging in legitimate political discourse when that isn't what's happening. you're just a bully who is trying to use faux activist catchphrases to shield yourself when you got called out.
murder isn't funny. terrorism isn't funny. the death of innocents isn't funny. just like it's not funny when it's a school shooting.
it's not funny when it happens to people in Istanbul or in Riyadh. and it's not funny when it happens in New York either.
