Watched all of Senorita 89 on BBC i-player + I ended up really liking it tho’ it did take me a bit to get into it. It’s about a group of young women who are all competing to be the next Miss Mexico, they get packed off to this big house in the country to train to be more successful and while they are there a murder happens that changes everything. It’s also about bigger themes of manipulation and corruption, sexism and misogyny, ambition and love. There’s a wlw couple in it. And wow, the ending hits so fucking hard.

Alejandra Madrigal revamped and headcanons;

Her actual name is Alejandra Botero-Yee.

She was Alma's bestfriend and sister-in-law via Raimi.

She is half Chinese, half Filipino.

She left home when she was 15 and eventually found her way to Alma's village which she made her home.

She met her future husband, Raimi, not long after that at a festival when she noticed he didn't have a dance partner amd volunteered herself to be said partner.

She soon became good friends with his sisters—Alma and Catalina as well as the woman who would go on to become Senorita Guzmán.

They got married 3 years later and not long after, their oldest daughter, Miranda, was born.

She became good friends with Alma's husband, Pedro.

She is an ancestor/somewhat distant relative of the Lee Family from turning red.

3 years after that, their youngest, Beatrix, and their nieces and nephew (Pepa, Julieta, and Bruno) were born.

She died fighting off the ruthless soldiers that invaded their home in hopes of keeping her children, nieces ,nephew, husband, and good friends safe.

When she was alive she loved dancing, sword fighting, horseback riding, rock climbing, swimming, making lanterns, and cuddling with her husband.

She was protective of those she loved and had a firece personality.

And yes, Alejandra did inherit the family ability to turn into a red panda. She left home solely to keep it from being taken from her.

She also passed this gift to her daughters.

Raimi was in awe when he discovered this power of hers (since he had never seen anything like it before since this was pre-encanto creation).

Alejandra was just surprised he wasn't afraid of her.

It's one of the reasons she fell in love with him.

She loved roses and had a couple of those hairpieces that Alma gifted her on her sixteenth birthday.

She was four years younger than Alma and died when she was 21. Though Alma would not discover this fact until years later.

While sad, Alma was not surprised as it was very in character for her friend to fight till the very end.

She had a statue built in her friend's honor that they placed in the house.

Alma and Raimi also placed Alejandra's old decorative taxidermy animals up around the house. Which somehow caused them to come to life and be able to talk.

No one is quite sure how that happened, why they insult people, or how to get them to stop.

Alejandra would have found it funny, despite her no nonsense nature.

Her favorite colors were red, gold, black, and pink.

She preferred having her hair up over having it down.

She would have been 89 years old by d3 if she had lived.

Has anyone watched Senorita 89? I found it recently watched all of it in a day (obviously) i got obsessed and i need to discuss the series with somebody cause none of my friends has watched it!!!

gale’s death isn’t funny because it’s sad and it fucked up jesse for life but also it is EXTREMELY funny because the whole reason gale got wrapped up in this mess is he got gus’s gay little chemistry scholarship and was so good at fucking idk vacuum distillations that gus recruited him to be his special little meth consultant and assigned him to be walt’s new partner. then gale fell in love with this abusive salt lamp of a man to the point where he recited poetry to him and gave him a fruity little present, only to promptly be fired because walt couldn’t go six minutes without psychologically tormenting jesse and then he gets fucking shot in the face by this very psychologically tormented baggy t-shirt boy who is sobbing and crying the whole time?? in his own home?? in his own little gay sandals?? fucking unbelievable.

funniest part of breaking bad is that jesse lived in like three separate places over the course of the show and every single time he moved somewhere new, a character had to come in and look around and reenact this exact panel while jesse just stood there half-asleep in a 3XL t-shirt

the breaking bad dvd episode commentaries are funny because the cast is super funny but the funniest gd thing ever said in those commentaries was when they were doing the episode where andrea and brock come by while walt is talking business with jesse and walt awkwardly interacts with brock and someone on the cast was like “oh man!! i wonder what was going through walt’s head here haha :)” and bryan cranston got super close to his mic and was like (insidious walt voice) “i wonder how much poison i can fit in that little body”

why in the fuck is it so impossible for people to be normal about mitski and her music?? the woman gives interviews and talks about her music and her creative process and where her emotions and sounds come from, and people talk over her to claim it as their “feral sad girl music” and paste labels on her and present her as a commodity, like a music box that they can wind up and will play them what they want to hear....you all literally need to Be Normal For Once

Watched all of Season 2 of Senorita '89. I think it's such an under-rated show. It's set in Mexico (this season moved forward to 1990) + deals with themes of power + corruption, misogyny + female activism. Personally I liked the way they ended it. It's not an easy watch (due to some of the subject matter/scenes) but I think it's worth persevering with. Both seasons are available on BBC i-player

Raimi Madrigal revamped and headcanons;

Raimi Madrigal's actual name is Raimi Emmanuel Botero.

He is Alma and Catalina (Disaster Lady)'s younger brother.

He is younger than Catalina by 2 years and younger than Alma by 4.

He is 89 years old by d3 like his wife would have been.

Raimi's wife being Alejandra Yee.

He is the father of Miranda and Beatrix.

He was in awe when he found out about his wife's ancestral gift (she can turn into a red panda) because at that point he had never heard of anything like it before.

He found out about it a year after he met her, when he was 16.

He married her at 18 and at 21 he was a single father of two after her death at the hands of the ruthless soldiers who invaded their village.

And if that wasn't bad enough, he, his children, and Catalina were separated from Alma, Pedro, and their children when fleeing their village.

They found Pedro's body not long after they found Alejandra's but didn't find Alma or her children until after the events of encanto.

Despite all the tragedy in his life, Raimi has managed to maintain his mainly happy go lucky, optimistic attitude.

His daughters didn't understand it growing up until he told them that if he didn't—that if he lost himself—then their mother and uncle's deaths would be in vain. Which cleared alot of things up for them.

Raimi hasn't remarried and doesn't plan to. One love was enough for him.

He loves making and wearing hats, dancing, taxidermy, making candles, gardening, and fishing.

He never threw out Alejandra's taxidermied animals and took good care of her horse for as long as it lived.

He never made his daughters fear their ancestral gift and warned them ahead of time that it would happen in hopes of lessening the shock.

It kinda worked.

Upon seeing the taxidermy animals coming to life and insulting those in the Casita, he burst out laughing, just knowing that Alejandra would have gotten a kick out of it.

He, Alma, Senorita Guzmán, and Catalina reminisce about Pedro, Alejandra, and Senior Guzmán from time to time.

He was saddened by Beatrix's choice not to marry or have children but supported her regardless because he wants nothing more than for her and Miranda to be happy.

He did the same years before for his older sister, Catalina, when she decided she wanted to be child free.

He was the one to gift Alejandra with the sword she fought off the invading soldiers with. He purposed to her with it.

She loved it and said yes obviously.

The hat he wears 90% of the time is the last birthday gift she gave him.

He is great at giving advice and is always willing to deal it out to anyone who will listen.

He misses his younger days even if he'll never admit it.

Pedro was his best friend and he misses him greatly.

Raimi gets along great with Camilio, Felíx, and Agustín.
