Find the Words!
This tag came a while ago from @cabbojage, so thanks for including me in this game!
Passing it along with soft tags to @magic-is-something-we-create, @sender-paulson, @sam-glade, @lychniscitrus, and @irathgo, as well as keeping this an open tag!
Rules—share an excerpt from your wip/s for the words given to you, then tag as many people as you choose and give them some words to find. Your words will be lucky, steady, indestructible, and final. If you can't find one, leave a fun fact about your WIP, OCs, or writing process!
My words were fall, sky, gloat, and calm
Fall  Curious, Nuka leaned closer as well. More wolvins had come over to join the diggers. The snowfall was so heavy in the field that they seemed to materialize out of the white haze. Nine more, all of them much larger than the others. The diggers paid them no heed and the newcomers didn’t appear at all interested in the hole. Instead they set themselves up around the little gathering of workers, their backs to them.
Three of them sat while three stood and the last three paced all around the group. Every single one of them was alert. Their ears were pricked forward, twitching at every sound. Their eyes, though they couldn’t be seen in the mirror, scanned the snowy landscape all around them. Their noses lifted to every fresh wind, scenting for danger.
“They look like they’re guarding them,” Nuka said after the nine new wolvins had settled into their positions.
Sky  It was true that Nightwish had gone before. He’d had a team of six, the first elites, and he was the only one that had made it back out. In the darkness of the never-ending labyrinth of tunnels and caves, they couldn’t see what had attacked them. Whatever it was had blended so well with the shadows that they’d fought blind. The creature had picked them off one by one until Nightwish was alone.
He’d only survived because he’d stumbled upon an exit to the tunnels and the creature hadn’t followed him out into the sunlight. It had stayed in the cave, far back away from the sky, screaming in rage that he’d gotten away. The noises were like nothing he’d ever heard before, and nothing he’d heard since.
Gloat  Not in this doc, so a fun fact! There's a lot of stuff in the Castle world that I don't have time to touch on in the story itself, such as a mysterious ruin on Iverness near the river. I've always felt like an open-world video game would be a really fun and neat way to expand on that
Calm  “Please, please, please!” (the mouse) squeaked at Hank, no longer trying to squirm out of his grip. “Don’t let him eat me!”
“No one is eating anyone here,” Hank said, but it didn’t calm down.
“Try telling that to him!”
Hank turned to the cat. “No one is eating anyone here.”
The cat laid his ears back in annoyance. “I can hear just fine, thank you.”

[ FOUND ]  or [ DISCOVERED ]  for the prompts :)
Accidentally made this 2.5k words sdjksdjs but its soft and sweet so its ok <3
[ FOUND ] sender is staying with the receiver who had them take the bed while the receiver takes the couch. In the middle of the night, the sender goes out to join the receiver on the couch because they don’t want to sleep alone.
Despite being much smaller than him, she was very strong. She pulled him by the hand and led him to the living room, as if he didn’t know where it was. She threw the pillow and blanket onto the couch and let go of his hand. Absentmindedly, she gave him a big hug as thanks, before pulling away quickly.pent time with the others up in the presidential suite, only making an appearance for food or to attend meetings with the gang.
It had only been a few months since he had come to live at the Lucky 38, but Summer felt like he didn’t even live there sometimes. Elysio was still ever so elusive, rarely ever actually in his room. Summer thought about asking him where he goes but always decided against it. She was scared that he would tell her that he was scouting for new places to live. She knew him leaving would make everyone happy, especially Arcade and Boone, but something inside her wanted him to stay. Perhaps forever. Summer pushed the thought from her mind as soon as it arrived. She didn’t have time to entertain such thoughts.
It was almost midnight now, the static from the radio in the other room crackling as another song started. Summer needed the ambience when she was alone, the silence was borderline suffocating to her. The less than a handful of times where she was at the Lucky 38 alone for the night were always hard for her. Along with the radio, she kept the lights on as well. Getting shitty sleep was a small price to pay to feel a little less alone, a little less scared. The slightest bump in the night would have her in tears. Sure, she could take her blanket and pillow to go sleep on the couch in the penthouse, but she didn’t want House to think she was some child that needed coddling. And there was no way she could sleep on the casino floor without Elysio inquiring as to why she was down there.
She fiddled with a loose thread on her blanket deep in thought when she heard the elevator ding, signaling someone's arrival. Summer jumped off her bed, a smile on her face, racing to greet whomever was home. Maybe it was Arcade, he vaguely knew of Summer’s dislike of being alone at night. She rocked back and forth on her feet, hands clasped behind her back, waiting eagerly for whoever it was. Just the thought of someone else being in the suite with her had almost melted away all of her worries. The elevator doors opened to reveal Elysio in his pajamas, who immediately looked at Summer with vague surprise on his face.
“Oh! Elysio!” Summer sheepishly straightened her posture, her face heating up in embarrassment. “Whatcha doin’ up so late? Midnight snack?” Summer moved out of the way so he could exit the elevator. He simply nodded before turning towards the kitchen. Summer silently groaned as she hung her head. She still hadn’t mastered the language of Elysio, much to her chagrin. She slowly made her way to the doorway of the kitchen and dining room and peeked in. Elysio was preparing a sandwich, he had to hunch over quite a bit due to the counters being very short. Were pre-war people super short or something?
Elysio turned and grabbed his food and headed to the table to eat. He could feel Summer’s eyes on him as he sat down but chose to ignore her. Summer, ever so casually, waltzed into the kitchen and over to the fridge, grabbing a nuka cola. Popping the cap off and setting it on the counter, Summer walked over and sat down at the head of the table, two seats away from Elysio’s right. She took a sip before setting the bottle down, looking down at her hands.
Summer rarely felt anxious when wanting to make conversation, it was something she was a pro at. But something about Elysio threw her off her balance, made her question herself. Sure, just months ago he had arrived in the Mojave hellbent on killing her, but that was the past, this was now. She stole glances at him as he ate, being on his right side meant he wouldn't be able to tell, due to his right eye (or lack thereof) being covered by an eyepatch.
Elysio was almost finished with his food, which meant Summer would be alone again once more. She pouted in her seat as she took another sip of her drink. She felt stupid, to say the least. She was grown, she shouldn’t need to have someone near her at all times to feel comfortable and secure. But here she was, almost in tears again.
Sniffling, Summer downed the rest of the Nuka Cola and tossed the bottle into the trash before sulking to her room, cracking the door just a bit. She sat down on her bed and pulled her pillow to her chest, burying her face. She was sure Elysio would just carry on his way and head back to his room, or wherever he would go in the middle of the night. Maybe once he was gone she could just wear herself out from crying. She squeezed her pillow in an attempt to ward off the tears when she heard Elysio walking out of the kitchen.
Summer prayed he wouldn’t even glance in her room, she wasn’t in the mood to have to pretend she wasn’t just crying into her pillow like a child. She heard him by the elevator and her heart sank, if only she had the courage to ask him to stay up here tonight. She lifted her tear stained cheeks to look up towards the door when she froze. Elysio stood outside her room, staring in through the ajar door. Neither of them said anything for a moment, Summer too stunned and confused to speak. Elysio continued to stare for a moment longer before speaking.
“Are you okay?” Elysio said in his usual low, monotone voice. He made no attempt to open the door any more, just stood looking through the crack. Summer forced herself out of her stunned state to speak.
“Oh! Y-yeah! Just peachy.” She lied through her teeth. Having only one eye meant he wouldn’t have good depth perception so maybe he wouldn’t be able to tell she had been crying from where he was standing, and he didn’t seem like the type to pry. Summer put on her best fake smile, ignoring how strained she probably looked. Elysio stepped forward and pushed her door open, causing Summer to shrink back a little bit. Great. Just Great. What am I supposed to say to him?
Elysio entered the room and walked up to Summer, arms and hands at his side and he looked down at her. Summer timidly looked up at him, hugging her pillow closer to her. Her heart was racing a million miles a minute, her face was probably super flushed now from crying and being suddenly flustered.
Elysio took his hand and tilted Summer’s chin upwards with his thumb and pointer finger, so she was fully facing him. Summer knitted her eyebrows together in annoyance.
“You have been crying. Why?” He asked, his hand still tilting her head up. Summer knew she should pull away, but her soul was relishing in the physical contact, so she stayed put. His fingers felt rough, but warm. She wanted to lean into his touch so badly, but she still had some sense left.
“Oh, it’s nothing, Elysio. Really. You don’t gotta worry about me.” Summer looked up at him and offered a small smile, hoping it would be enough for him. (It wasn’t) He simply stared at her, as if not being able to move until he heard the truth.
Perhaps it was a mix of how tired and stressed she was and now being very flustered, her facade began to crack as tears filled her eyes, lip quivering. She pulled away from him as she pulled her pillow to her face to cry. She felt so pathetic, she just wanted to crawl under the covers and hide from him. Summer knew he was just staring at her as she cried, which honestly made her feel worse. Why couldn't he just leave already?
Summer heard him step away and she almost sighed in relief when she felt the bed dip to her right. She sniffled a little bit before pulling away from the pillow to look at Elysio. He clearly was unsure of how to comfort someone in distress, let alone Summer in distress. He had his hand up clearly in preparation to give her a comforting pat, but he had gotten lost as to where he should pat, so he simply hovered his hand in between them. Summer looked from his hand, then to him, and then back to his hand.
Elysio finally made a move, and patted the top of her head twice, before resting it on his lap again. Summer couldn’t contain herself, she began to giggle like crazy, using her pillow to muffle herself. Elysio seemed confused, but satisfied. She had stopped crying after all, so it was a win in his book.
“If I tell you what’s wrong, promise not to laugh, okay?” Summer turned to him, serious. Elysio simply nodded. Summer held up her pinky. Elysio looked down at it before furrowing his eyebrows. Summer rolled his eyes and grabbed his hand, wrapping her pinky around his, shaking their hands up and down a few times before releasing him.
“It’s called a pinky promise. If you break it, then it means you’re super untrustworthy.” Summer was stern when she spoke. Elysio nodded once more, unsure what the fuck a pinky had to do with promises. Summer fidgeted with her fingers as she spoke once more.
“I’m… scared of being here… alone. I don’t do well by myself…” Summer looked at her hands as she spoke. “I haven’t been by myself in a long time so I just…”
“You are not alone, I’m downstairs.” Elysio said, a matter of fact. Summer chewed on her cheek in annoyance.
“I mean, like, I am alone in my immediate vicinity.” She wildly gestured around the room with her hand. “There’s no one up in the presidential suite with me.” Elysio nodded, then pondered his next words. Summer felt so small now that her feelings were out in the open.
“I can sleep on the couch in the living room, if you would like.” Elysio looked at her intently. She would have preferred if he slept on the couch in her bedroom, but it was currently in use by the thirty seven teddy bears and fifteen dinky dinos. Summer felt herself light up, almost jumping into his lap to hug him, but she refrained.
“Oh, would you?! Yes, that would make me feel so much better!” She quickly stood and practically ran to one of her wardrobes to grab an extra blanket and pillow for him to use. She tucked them under her arm as she went to grab his hand.
Despite being much smaller than him, she was very strong. She pulled him by the hand and led him to the living room, as if he didn’t know where it was. She threw the pillow and blanket onto the couch and let go of his hand. Absent-mindedly, she gave him a big hug as thanks, before pulling away quickly.
“Do you need anything else?” Summer clasped her hands in front of her, waiting for her next task. Elysio looked around and shook his head. He picked up a book off the end table and sat down onto the couch, opening it up to the first page.
“I am capable of getting what I need. But thank you. Goodnight, Summer.” Elysio began to read as Summer stood there. She murmured her ‘goodnight’ before practically skipping back to her room. She turned off all the lights except for the hall light before cracking her door and getting into bed. She must have been more tired than she realized as she quickly fell asleep.
Summer awoke with a jolt, whatever nightmare she had been having causing her to wake. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself before sleepily looking around. The clock read that it was almost three in the morning. Summer thought about going to wake Arcade for comfort when she remembered that no one was home, besides for Elysio on the couch in the next room. Summer anxiously stood, legs wobbly. Maybe just seeing that Elysio was still here would help put her mind at ease.
Quietly padding into the now dark hallway, faint light could be seen coming from the living room. Summer stood in the doorway to see the only light that was on was coming from the almost silent radio. Summer squinted her eyes and was able to make out Elysio’s sleeping form on the couch.
Elysio had fallen asleep while reading, book still in hand. Summer quietly tip-toed over to him and lightly grabbed the book from his hand, setting it back onto the end table. Her eyes had adjusted to the dim room and she looked at Elysio’s face. He was a very handsome guy, but when he was sleeping, he looked like an angel. Only when he slept did he truly look at peace. Summer felt a pang of guilt surge through her.
Summer began to back away to head back to her room when she suddenly heard thunder. Jumping three feet in the air, Summer decided that going back to her room was a fool's errand. Eyeing the other unoccupied part of the couch, Summer grabbed the unused blanket off of the lounge chair and curled up on the couch carefully so as not to disturb Elysio. She snuggled into the pillow and attempted to try to fall back asleep when another clap of thunder roared outside. Summer squeezed her eyes shut and pulled the blanket over her head.
She began to feel Elysio shift, hoping that he wouldn’t be upset that she was out here with him. He mumbled something, clearly still asleep, before sandwiching his way in between Summer and the couch. Summer’s eyes shot open as she removed the blanket from her head, slowly looking behind her, coming face to face with Elysio. He continued to shift a bit before throwing an arm around Summer’s waist, pulling her close as he buried his face into the crook of her neck, before sighing softly.
Summer attempted to stay perfectly still but felt herself melt into his arms, snuggling into him now. Another clap of thunder sounded, but she didn’t flinch at all, she was safe and sound in Elysio’s arms.

I HEARD IT FROM THE NUKA-GRAPE VINE...
here’s a little writing prompt to get the creative juices flowing! for this prompt, all you have to do is send a quote said by ‘DWELLER 1′ (written in bold) to someone who has reblogged this meme. the recipient will have to choose one of ‘DWELLER 2′’s responses, and write a drabble around their chosen response depicting a conversation between your muses. the sender’s muse will be ‘dweller 1′ and the recipient’s muse will be ‘dweller 2.’
although there is a set of responses you must choose from, feel free to expand as much as you want on the idea behind your chosen response and the interaction between your characters. share your muse’s thoughts and let them express their feelings. you can also use the drabbles you write as starters ~
DWELLER 1 -- knock knock. DWELLER 2 -- no, NO. please, no more knock knock jokes... -- aggh! somebody’s knocking on the vault door! it’s a raider! he’ll kill us all! -- nobody’s home. see what i did there? -- come on in. -- who’s there?
DWELLER 1 -- what’s up? DWELLER 2 -- oh, you know. a ceiling made of steel. with a copious amount of asbestos, by the looks of it. -- not much! just happy that i’m here in the vault, and not out in the wasteland! you know... dying. -- well, i’m busy. what about you? don’t YOU have somewhere else to be? hint hint.
DWELLER 1 -- want to play a game later? checkers or something? DWELLER 2 -- checkers? what are we, ten years old?? we will play chess. -- oh, maybe. i’ll check my duty schedule and get back to you. -- sure! that sounds like fun!
DWELLER 1 -- can you help with my crossword? five-letter word, ends with “t.” - “often terrible, always uncomfortable.” DWELLER 2 -- sorry, i’m more of a math person. -- that’s easy. bigot. no, wait--theft! yeast? -- vault.
DWELLER 1 -- i wish i had a pet. what about you? DWELLER 2 -- i wish i had a chameleon. but i bet the radiation would make it all... weird. -- you know, i always wanted a dog. -- nah. but a robot servant would be pretty great.
DWELLER 1 -- don’t get too close. i think i’m coming down with something. DWELLER 2 -- don’t worry. that was never on my agenda. -- oooh, what is it? black death? typhus? super ebola? the blue flu? -- yeah, looks like you’re coming down with an acute case of hypochondria.
DWELLER 1 -- is it true what they’re saying? about... you know who? DWELLER 2 -- sure is. and he seemed like such a nice guy. -- what? no! of course it isn’t true! really, you can’t believe everything you hear... -- i really hope not. i hate the idea of living in the same vault with a person like that.
DWELLER 1 -- i’m reading this great book. it’s about a school teacher who falls in love with a mechanic. DWELLER 2 -- "rulers and wrenches”? yeah, that’s a good one. -- oh! i read that one! she dies at the end. it’s so sad. -- i read that, too. seven times. we really need more books.
DWELLER 1 -- who would win in a fight? a radscorpion or a yao guai? DWELLER 2 -- you’re kidding, right? radscorpion. all the way. -- hmm... scorpion against bear... gotta go bear. -- who cares? super mutant behemoth vs. deathclaw. now that’s a REAL fight.
DWELLER 1 -- want to listen to the radio later? DWELLER 2 -- maybe. so long as you don’t start dancing. it’s kind of embarrassing. -- okay, but no sad songs! i need to stay positive. -- sure! maybe we can pick up a frequency from someone on the outside...
DWELLER 1 -- is it night or day? i’ve lost track. DWELLER 2 -- night. i think. -- day. definitely day. -- i lost track. does it really matter?
DWELLER 1 -- how many other vaults do you think are out there? DWELLER 2 -- other vaults? there are other vaults? -- i bet... two others. maybe three. or five hundred. -- you know, i’ve never thought about it. our vault is so amazing, why would i?
DWELLER 1 -- i’ve been reading about the creatures of the wasteland. they sound frightening! DWELLER 2 -- i know! flies the size of dogs! scorpions the size of cows! glad i’m not out there. -- i’ve heard there are lots of animals with two heads. apparently it’s a theme. -- i don’t know. some of them sound kind of cute. like “yao guai”---how bad could that be?
DWELLER 1 -- if raiders attack, can we count on you in a fight? DWELLER 2 -- you know it! i’ll gladly lay my life down for this vault. -- yeeeeeaaaahhh... see, i’m more of a ‘lover not a fighter’ type. -- absolutely. i’ll be there right next to you. well, maybe behind you...
DWELLER 1 -- we’re safe here in the vault... right? DWELLER 2 -- of course! the overseer would never let anything happen to us! -- compared to what exactly? -- safer than we’d be outside, that’s for sure!

Your OC as a Companion: Snake Eyes
How are they recruited by the Sole Survivor:
At Railroad HQ, after completing Tradecraft, Dr. Carrington suggests you take her along with you to “get her out of my hair for a while” then pass a medium speech check to convince her.
Weapon: Knives
Perk: Femme Fatale: Permanent +1 to Charisma
Romanceable: No (Has flirt dialogue options available, and will flirt back but cannot romance). There is an option to ask outright about it, but she’ll abruptly end the conversation.
Her first few affinity conversations are mostly about her joining the Railroad and life as an agent.
In her final affinity conversation. she tells you about how she grew up in a vault, out west. When questioned further, she’ll share the story of her escape from the Omertas and journey over to the Commonwealth. She will also answer any questions about New Vegas.
If her and Deacon are left at the same settlement, they will have unique ambient dialogue between them. "Looks like it's time for a shave, chrome dome." "Are you offering to help?" "You really wanna trust me with a razor right next to that pretty little neck of yours?"
If she is your companion while visiting Railroad HQ, she’ll ask Carrington if he misses her “Not on your life, Snake.” Or she’ll quietly ask Tinker Tom how he’s doing and give him a wee pep talk, reminding him to ease up on the chems.
Personal Quest:
Before Rockets’ Red Glare, she will ask to speak to you (if she isn’t with you at the time, Drummer Boy will relay her request). She asks that you get someone off the Prydwen before blowing it up. If the Sole Survivor can pass a hard speech check, she will tell you that she wants you to rescue her estranged younger brother, Knight Ty, who is a member of the Brotherhood of Steel. “Even if you have to physically drag the asshole out of there, just do it. Please.” If the quest is not completed and he perishes in the resulting explosion, you cannot gain her highest affinity level. She won’t blame you for it, “It’s his own fucking fault, signing up with a bunch of buckethead bigots..” but it clearly pains her. If he is rescued, she’s immensely grateful and asks you not to tell anyone about this. Later on she will relay that he decided to return to the Citadel. She’s disappointed but “at least he’s alive, right? Ungrateful jerk.” Sole can then either empathize with her or remind her that they just blew up his home, with a response of “I knew you’d understand.” or “Well, you’re not wrong there..” respectively.
