The 'Goddess of the Theater' Murayama Yuiri who has performed 1,300 times, the most in history, reflects on the last performance before the AKB48 Theater renovation on September 1st

The AKB48 Theater in Akihabara, Tokyo, which opened in 2005, will enter renovations after the "AKB48 Theater's Final Performance Before Renovation ~Thank you for the memories of 6843 days and 6552 performances~" on September 1st. On the 19th, Murayama Yuiri (27), known as the "Goddess of the Theater" for her record-setting 1,300 appearances, reflected on her feelings for the current theater, which she considers her "starting point," and also expressed her anticipation for the new theater, which will reopen on December 8th, its 19th anniversary.

Having stood on the AKB Theater stage more than anyone else, she harbors complex feelings about its renovation. When she first heard about it, her honest reaction was "sadness." She said, "It was my second home, a power spot, and a place of learning. I grew up in this theater. I’m feeling lonely that it will change significantly." She looked around the theater floor, savoring every moment.

In approximately 13 years of tenure, she reached the highest number of theater appearances in history. “I was just having fun on stage, and before I knew it, I've already reached 1,300 performances.” During the time when the team system was in place, she was prepared to step in for any member who was ill, whether it was for performances for Teams A, K, B, or 4. This effort contributed to the impressive number of performances she accumulated.

Murayama and the other 13th generation members joined in 2011, when the group was in its peak. She entered senbatsu more than six years after joining the group. “I realized that it's not just fun and games. I saw the harsh reality. I was compared to others, I didn't know how to gain popularity, and I couldn't see my goals. The days when I couldn't attend school continued, so I once made up my mind to quit when I was a kenkyuusei. It was to the point where I was ready to announce my graduation on the blog the next day.” However, it was the theater staff at the time who persuaded her to stay.

Above all, one reason Murayama decided to stay was the presence of her senpai, Nakata Chisato. She expressed her gratitude, saying, "I was not very good at dealing with my seniors, except Chiichan (Nakata) who has given me great support." As the number of outside work for senbatsu members increased, "Chiichan continued to perform at the theater. And when she told me, 'It's hard to convey the importance of treasuring the theater to the juniors,' I became determined to protect the theater myself." It marked the beginning of her journey to becoming the "Goddess of the Theater".

From that point onwards, her activities focused heavily on the theater. She even cried over her reduced opportunities to perform in the theater when she entered senbatsu and was given outside jobs. After the group's general election's system changed to a candidacy system, she also decided to not participate in it. "I'm not denying the worth of general elections, but I felt it wasn't suited to me, and I didn't want to burden my fans. I wanted them to come to the theater instead," she explained as she maintained a firm resolve to prove that one could still become a popular member by continuously performing at the theater.

Even after experiencing live performances at venues like Tokyo Dome, she emphasized, "I love the AKB Theater the most." She highlighted the charm of the theater’s exclusive intimate setting, saying, "With the concept of being 'idols you can meet', the theater's "sublime proximity" is part of its charm."

From September 2nd, they will be travelling all over Japan for "AKB48 Theater 'Under Construction' Nationwide Tour," with the stage that Murayama produced. Additionally, the new theater, which will be inaugurated on December 8th with an original new stage written by Akimoto Yasushi, is hinted to have 'an even more dream-like world view.'

Murayama intends to continue performing at the new theater. She expressed her determination, saying, "I don’t want anyone to surpass my record (for the most performances)." She added, "For me, the theater is what it means to be in AKB. I've revealed all my emotions here. I want to give back to this theater for the rest of life. I'll work hard so that I can remain the Goddess of the Theater, even after the renovation," reflecting her strong resolve.

INS48's 5th single "Flying Get" is released with Fan as the center.

It is the first single without Taco.

Salt announces that OJ is her boyfriend. Fans were happy until OJ makes an announcement about how what Salt said wasn't true at all. It makes Salt get demoted to a trainee. After a theater performance, Salt came out to publicly apologize. She was promoted back to Team Hotel one day later.

INS48's 6th single "Are You Watching the Sunset? (Yuuhi wo Miteiru ka?)" is released with Trophy as the center.

Knife breaks his leg, so he takes a break from performing.

Fan opens his blog, showing how it is like working with INS48.

A few months later, Knife's leg heals and he is able to perform again.

Team Grand Slams 1st Stage "The Last Bell Rings (Saishuu Bell ga Naru)"

Dough joins the group as a member of Team Grand Slams.

INS48's 7th single "Test Tube from Above (Ue Kara Test Tube)" is released with Test Tube (obviously) as the center. The members were chosen by the 2nd INS48 Senbatsu Election.

Dough immediately gets dismissed after the first theater performance of the single for unknown reasons.

Team Hotel 1st Stage "My Sunshine (Boku no Taiyou)" aaaaaand thats all! ik some stuff is kinda dum 😭 yeah now im gonna make designs for the characters in the au :D stay tuned!

shocking results during the 1st prelims for the ssk.

i’m disappointed earn is so low. i hope her fc and fans will use this as motivation to vote more. last time, she was in ug during the prelims so i’m worried she won’t move higher. but i’ve donated today and will continue to do so.

i’m so happy for PANDA! she didn’t rank last time despite ranking in the GE2. i hope she climbs higher. this is her last one and she deserves it.

i was gagged when i saw lookked into the senbatsu. i thought she was popular from her handshake sales but now this proves that she has some clout. good for her. if she gets into the senbatsu on her first election, that’ll be incredible for her.

peak is in! popper also ranked high. i think she can get into the senbatsu. my prédication is that monet and yoghurt will drop down to ug.

nana is a great position. i think her performance in gingham check really helped up her popularity. so many people were talking about how charismatic her performance was. even i started oshi-ing her after that performance.

STANG AS CENTER. i didn’t even think that was a possibility but i would be so happy with either her or wee as center. if they’re able to do it, it’ll be the first time a 2ki solo centers a single. to do that after iam treated them like shit and during their last ssk would be a huge “FU” to iam. i think it’ll be a battle between her and kaning though. her fc is strong.

i hope sita is higher. i know she was disappointed because it means she could drop the ug again. she’s a popular member so i get so confused when it comes to the ssk and her fans just don’t vote…

#45-48 will be a battle. the lower positions always are but i think janry, satchan, and fahsai have a strong chance of ranking. janry is pushed by iam, satchan is a 1ki and fahsai has seniority over palmmy.

my HOPE is that earn, jingjing and eve move higher but meen was in ng last time so her fc has proven that they can keep that position or even higher.

L is semi-popular and will probably be ng center.

#28-32 will be a battle like i said. i hope panda moved up but her fc has to step it up. myyu might move up as well as ping. pancake is always iffy to me because she’s popular but her fans don’t seem to come out for her.

popper will go to the senbatsu and either fortune or kaiwan will be center. aom will go to the senbatsu. fame might move up as well.

the strongest contender is obviously stang or kaning. i think pim will either be #3 or #4. kaning will be #2. minmin might be #2 too. wee will be #4 if she’s not center.

It’s been one year

One year since the day Jurina won the AKB48 General Elections. It was a day of lots of emotions. There was passion, there was frustration, there were tears, and there was joy.

This was something she had worked for 10 years to achieve. She pushed herself to the physical and emotional limit, voiced her strong passion to her fellow members, and stood alongside them with pride.

She may have given harsh words to some, but they were out of the desire to bring the group back to the top.

She gave kindness to Sakura, her rival, when she had just moments earlier cried in frustration.

She hugged so many members who ranked in and shared in their happiness.

She took her place on her throne.

Although there were lots of bittersweet memories from when she took her hiatus, it still made me so happy to see her shine when she had finally reached the goal she had been pursuing for years.

I hope that this summer, she will burn brighter to make up for the time she was absent during her hiatus last year. I will continue to support Jurina and SKE48!

This year General Election has finally begun!!

For me, it's been 2 years since my last election.

I decided to not run for last year election.

I do not think that I made a wrong choice. Thanks to that, I was able to rediscover myself.

But, for the past year there is also a fact that I came off AKB's front line.   Senbatsu and Kouhaku, the other things also did not go well. There are many occassions which are frustating and painful. I'm often depressed by my own uselessness.

That is why, For me this is the time to compete. I must change it with this one.

With this, I would like to say that I can bloom again and shine more as an idol!

I would like also to increase the opportunities to interact with you who always support me. I want to increase our fun time and happiness(^^)

Up until now, I never rank down in the election.

Therefore, many people told me at the handshake event that this year would also be alright. But, I do not want you to think like that.

I often check ranking prediction on the internet and magazine, I am so happy to see my name on it, but at the same time I am also afraid.

There is no guarantee about what will happen in the future.

But, I believe in people who support me, and of course, you.

Thanks to you who always support me, I am here now. I believe in this bond (^^)

Let's do it together!! This general election is a crucial moment for me!
