Sweets thief
Pairing: Spencer Reid x BAU!Reader
Warnings/Content: none. pure fluff, a wee bit of bullying to spence (totally harmless and friendly though), crushes, unhealthy amount of candy ingestion lol, no y/n, gn!reader too
Summary: You've been stealing sweets from your resident genius.
Word count: 1.2k
✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆
It wasn't unusual for the BAU members to carry snacks with them.
The job was hard, stressful and, most importantly, it had unpredictable hours. So finding time to eat a proper meal wasn't always a viable option.
Nevertheless, eating is a basic human need and even if it's not completely healthy, the agents often found themselves battling their hunger with quick snacks.
As a relatively new member of the BAU, buying said vital snacks wasn't yet ingrained in your mind, resulting in you continually forgetting to buy something to munch on during cases.
Stealing was always an option though.
After several months with your coworkers, you are proud to say that you have managed to eat at the expense of all of their pockets, for experts in human behavior, they don't hide their treats so well.
However, after several months, you have come to know their go-to snacks and, subsequently, you have become picky.
Morgan eats some kind of high-protein bars with an awfully bright neon wrapper.
Emily loves those salt and vinegar chips every station has on their vending machines.
JJ, ever the healthy mom of the group, always has a few packages of oatmeal raisin cookies on hand.
Rossi carries eucalyptus and mint gummies like the old man he is.
And Hotch buys the most bland granola bars known to mankind.
With all of that said, the conclusion was obvious.
Spencer has the best snacks.
It is not only that he always has sweets but that he's the only one that manages for variety instead of a fixed thing. A bit ironic considering he is the most prone to sticking to a rigid routine. Well, you aren't complaining though, especially not this month.
You realized quickly that Halloween was a big thing for the resident genius, seeming to make the grown man regress to the mentality of an overly eager seven-year-old. It's lucky for you because that means that he chooses to try a new candy every single day of October.
It also means that you had begun stealing exclusively from him and, being surrounded by profilers, it wasn't long until you were discovered as the culprit.
A shadow had eclipsed your desk suddenly, making you look up to a squinting Dr. Reid. “Did you take my last Peanut Butter Cup?”
You shook your head, “No...”
Derek snorted on the desk nearby, “You've still got chocolate on your face, kid,”
Cleaning your mouth with the back of your hand, you smiled up at Spencer sweetly.
His converse sounded hard against the floor as he stumped away.
Apparently, you weren't that discreet. He ended up catching you many more times after that.
"Hey!" Spencer swatted your hand when you grabbed yet another handful of his M&Ms.
You shrugged, feigning innocence, “Hey to you too Reid, but we've been in the same room for a while.”
He huffed, inching the box slightly out of your reach.
Many more times.
Your hand was literally inside the familiar size bag of Starburst candy when Spencer came back from the bathroom.
“Oh come on!” he groaned, taking the bag out of your grasp, “Buy your own.”
You went back to the local police station office, giggling to yourself like a child with your hands full of candy.
At this point hunger had become a secondary motive to your stealing. The number one reason being how adorable Spencer's reactions were when he caught you.
In all honesty, you harbored a bit of a crush on the man. You didn't have the courage to tell him upfront, making your silly brain manifest your feelings like a preschooler pulling on the pigtails of their crush. Oh, but teasing him was so fun, and it got you free candy so it was even better.
Then, yesterday, there was an incident.
The team was on the jet, another kidnapped girl had been safely returned to her parents, fairly quickly this time too. Spirits were high at wrapping up a case with such a positive outcome, making most of the agents mingle and play games on the usually quiet ride home.
You were perched on one of the individual seats, scrolling away in your phone and absentmindedly eating some candy (you had bought your own for once).
You jolted a bit when a hand dived into your candy bag. When you looked up, you found a smirking Spencer standing right in front of you, looking fairly smug and popping a piece into his mouth. He thought he was finally getting back at you for eating all of his sweets.
His joy lasted for about three seconds before he realized his mistake.
See, to the untrained eye, he had just eaten a couple of innocent looking bear gummies. Except, these were not regular gummies, they were your favorite kind, the most sour kind.
Spencer's face scrunched up with disgust, the sour effect of the gummy doubled at taking him by surprise, the acidic taste completely taking over his taste buds.
You couldn't help it, you bent over your belly with laughter, inadvertently drawing attention to Spencer's predicament.
The whole team snickered as they watched him rush back and forth on the narrow hall of the jet until he got hold of a tissue to spit the offending candy.
“What the hell is that?” he turned around to confront you.
You gave him an apologetic smile, “Sour candy?”
More laughs filled the space and Spencer had sat down on the furthest chair from yours, pouting with his arms crossed over his chest.
Back to today, you feel actually kind of guilty about what happened. You have been munching on all of Spencer's treats for weeks and the one time he does it to you, the whole team ends up making fun of him. A bit of teasing was fine but you don't want the man to actually feel bad.
So when you see him stand up from his desk and walk into the kitchen, you quickly jump out of your chair and grab something from your bag, trailing right behind him through the bullpen.
He's making himself an exaggeratedly sweet cup of coffee when you corner him.
“Spencer,” you call, making him turn around. Your hands are inconspicuously behind your back, “Trick or treat?”
His eyebrows furrow suspiciously, “Neither if you're going to give me one of those monstrosities you like.”
You huff out a laugh, “No, no, I promise it's not that. Come on, trick or treat? ”
After measuring up how much he trusts your statement, he relents, “Treat.”
“Ta-dah!” you sing, revealing a single Hershey’s Kiss in your palm.
Spencer's eyes light up.
“I know it doesn't make up for everything I ate but it's an offer of peace.”
He gives you a small smile, “Thank you, I appreciate it.”
As his hand extends to grab the chocolate, your brain has an impulsive thought.
You lean forward and peck his lips.
It lasts barely a second but it's enough to make your heart beat wildly against your chest.
Spencer stares at you frozen in place, a crimson color spreading all over his face.
“A kiss for a kiss,” you mumble dumbly, like saying that makes it better somehow.
‘Stupid, stupid, stupid!’ You think to yourself, your feet are prepared to flee the scene when he unexpectedly grabs your wrist.
“I– I...” he stammers, his cheeks turning impossibly redder, “I wouldn't mind if you stole more of those.”
A shy smile spreads on your face. Perhaps you won't start buying your own snacks soon.
✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆✰⋆
it's a bit silly but I was feeling halloween-y and craving sour candy

a/n: i am not going to finish kinktober on time but trust...it will be finished...and i know i skipped over havik, but i'm giving my fav a little extra time for his fic
pairing: johnny cage x afab!reader
warnings: nsfw (MDNI) fucking machine, orgasm denial, teasing
Tumblr media
it had cost a somewhat large amount of money, and you were not at all delighted or excited to see the package in Johnny’s living room
he still totally thought it was worth it however, now that he was staring at your blissed-out face as he holds the vibrator right up against your pretty clit
you are an addicting sight, skin covered in a slight sheen of sweat, his bitemarks decorating your skin along with the bruises of his hickeys
his hands had tied all kinds of pretty knots around your smooth skin, ensuring that you wouldn’t be able to move, and you’re spread wide for him to ravish you with his sight
Johnny bites his lip as he hears another pitiful moan echo from you, voice hoarse and slightly crackly at how loud you had been earlier
his own cock sat flushed and dripping with pre-cum against his slacks, but he didn’t really care about that
no, not when you looked so delicious laying on the soft sheets of the mattress, legs tied wide apart by the bedposts and messy cunt on display as the machine fucked into you
“Jo-Johnny, mmgh uunngh ple-please-!” your hips jerk as much as they can in place, thighs trembling with effort to try and grind your clit further into the vibrator he holds against you
he had been holding it for so long that his hand had started to go numb, but he didn’t particularly mind, the feeling was secondary to the pleasure rushing through him at the sound of you begging for him
how long had it been since he had you tied up here? dancing along the edge of pleasure and your orgasm, keeping you just out of reach
the inside of your thighs are coated in your arousal, the slick sounds of the machine fucking into your pussy loud and wet with the sound of buzzing in the room
“just one more time, one more time i promise.” Johnny says it breathlessly, almost mumbling it as he stares at how your chest heaves up and down, trying to stay calm as you barrel closer and closer to your orgasm
your back arches off of the bed, legs shaking and trembling, trying to fight out of their binds and clamp together from the overwhelming pleasure
he pulls away the vibrator just as you go over the cusp, and you whine and sob in betrayal, your pussy clenching around the toy and causing it to slip out of you and bump into your clit messily
it isn’t enough, and you sob and cry tugging at your restraints in frustration and desperation, “fuck! no-please, please, i can’t-i don’t-please, i need to cum! please, Johnny-”
your own sobs cut you off as he pets your clit with his thumb gently, simply moving it side to side with his thumb and pulling back the hood to admire how swollen and sensitive it had gotten in the past hour
his fingers slide down to spread your pussy lips, and Johnny licks his lips at the sight of you clenching down around nothing
he helps the toy slip back into your cunt, and a whine peels from your lips as he picks up the vibrator again and presses it against your clit
“i promise. this is the last time…” Johnny flicks the vibrator to its lowest setting, watching in adoration at how you squirm in his bindings and how you whimper out his name

Recommendations for societies with mixed halfling/human races follow. The average halfling is assumed, from demographic estimates, to weigh 30 pounds (14 kg) and stand approximately 3 feet (1 meter) tall.
All public places where people are expected to be seated need a mix of regular/small seating. Ideally, all chairs and tables will be adjustable, but this comes with cost considerations.
All doors must be accessible for people of all sizes. This presents a challenge for doorknobs and door handles, and the recommendation is a long vertical bar accessible for both, along with low "minimum force" levels for opening and closing. Problems with locking mechanisms remain, and while floor bolts are height-neutral, they're more suited to secondary locking mechanisms.
All restaurants, cafeterias, and vending machines should stock two differently sized portions. The average halfling consumes roughly a third the amount of food as a human. Because of various frictions (packaging, labor), prices are expected to be more than one third for a halfling portion. Because of this, it's best to have systems in place that allow splitting human-sized dishes, or bringing home leftovers, or making packages resealable.
Housing presents a serious problem. A single-family dwelling for a halfling family requires roughly one fifth the volume as for a single-family human dwelling, though costs do not scale down at the same rate. However, if built to halfling scale, the interior of the dwelling will only be accessible to halflings, which presents serious problems for e.g. police, firefighters, social workers, repairmen, or anyone else who might have cause to go into the interior of the home, to say nothing of friends and coworkers. Building for halfling scale is attractive for a variety of reasons, with cost being one of the biggest, but this might result in de facto segregation, and puts considerable strain on civic infrastructure and city markets due to duplication. Another social concern is that all interactions might, by default, take place inside human homes which have worse accommodations for halflings. Special note should also be made of mixed-species couples, who suffer extra burdens within the household. These problems are intractable, as some trade-off must always be made.
Tools, household goods, and clothing are naturally split into two markets. For clothing, near-complete segregation is expected. For everything else, partial segregation is expected: a halfling cannot effectively use many human tools due to differences in grip strength and grip circumference, to say nothing of brute strength. However, many consumables can suit both species, and it's expected that cost reduction efforts will inevitably result in a single offering for both in cases where that makes remotely makes sense. Purchases using refillable containers from bulk are encouraged, as each person can determine what's best to fulfill their own needs.
Due to lower costs (housing, food, clothing), halflings can in theory work for lower wages. For certain jobs, particularly those requiring physical strength, humans are more capable on average, and for others, particularly those requiring manual dexterity, halflings are more capable on average. For jobs which do not have significant differences, wage discrimination is recommended by contentious, and is an ongoing conversation.
There are a number of "segregationist forces" in society, driven by convenience, culture, and market forces. Once segregation has become, there is every expectation that it will snowball: a neighborhood which is inaccessible to humans will have businesses that cater only to halflings, and once halfling business is concentrated, any "mixed" business has less incentive to cater to halflings. Legislation can counterbalance these forces by requiring that all businesses be able to service both humans and halflings, and accommodate both human and halfling services, but this admittedly comes at enormous cost.
Overall, there are certain recommendations that are nearly costless and can be implemented as best practices immediately, and more complicated, costly reforms that will take significant political will and budgetary consideration. Beyond that, there are questions of social engineering and the level to which it is important or preferable that these things be done.

Tattletail - The Dilemma Of Potential
Becoming a franchise isn't a requirement for success, and yet, out of all those indie mascot horror games that rose to immense popularity in the late 2010s - lets call them the 'Chainbase' games - it seems like only one of them didn't attempt to maximise its potential as a franchise...
While Bendy and the Ink Machine and Hello Neighbor followed the path carved by Five Nights at Freddy's, franchising from singular hit videogames into a sprawling mess of sequels, spinoffs and even books, only one game stopped at...well, one game.
Tumblr media
Tattletail released just over eight years ago, with a DLC in early 2017...and that was it.
Despite numerous similarities to Baldi's Basics or Doki Doki Literature Club - having masses of fanart of their respective icon characters, numerous fan songs that capture the vibes of some childhood nostalgia turned dark, and/or fan theories about the meaning of their mysterious lore - Tattletail never became a series, or recieved any tie-in media like the rest.
Because of this, Tattletail is in the unique position of being a popular and revered Chainbase game despite not being a franchise.
Even as recently as last month, people have still been posting video essays on YouTube praising the game!
youtube
youtube
However, although Tattletail certainly has its merits, I'd argue that it doesn't really hold up - it plays the same and leads you on exactly like the other Chainbase games, franchise or no franchise.
In terms of gameplay, I personally find Tattletail bland and generic - much akin to Bendy and the Ink Machine, the majority of the gameplay is a walking simulator that requires you to go to an objective, press a key, and repeat ad infinitum.
Also akin to Bendy - specifically Chapter Three - there is some free roaming gameplay, but only in specific scripted sequences. There are only four (five if we count the DLC) sequences in the game that are non-linear and have consequences for failing to manage resources, and they're all trivial to accomplish. Although this is fine for a first-time playthrough, replayability is weakened even further than it already was by how simplistic the gameplay is. Even the beta of Chapter 1 of Bendy had more secrets to find on repeat playthroughs, but all Tattletail has going for it is some ridiculously hidden eggs and a telephone call. Once you've looked up a guide on all the egg locations and gotten both endings, there is very little to do in this game.
In terms of story, Tattletail is so vague and mysterious that half the details presented cannot ever be explained, which is very unsatisfying.
I do really like the allegory of childhood neglect/abuse presented through 'Mama' being the antagonist and our actual mother never responding to our knocking on her door, and the creepy implications of the seance...but we have yet another 'evil/incompetent corporation' in the form of Waygetter Electronics, and a clear direction for the lore that, instead of manifesting in a sequel or prequel, remains unfulfilled. As a result, so many fundamental questions are left without any clues for an answer, e.g., why are the Tattletails sentient? Are they haunted? What's the deal with Mama tattletail? How come four other Tattletails show up at our house? Who calls the phone, knocks on our door and leaves all these packages for us, such as the tape? Is it the same writer of the 'mysterious notes' from the Kaleidoscope DLC? It is possible to speculate, but because Tattletail remains a standalone game there is too little information to really create any concrete theories...
Tattletail's real strengths lie in secondary aspects of the game - despite the use of stock assets, its visually charming, and its sound design is the best thing in the game. The ambience, sound effects, stingers and voice acting are all top notch! Of course, its mascot characters have personality and are memorable because of their quirks - its not a bad game by any means, but its not any better than most of the other chainbase games. Watching it on YouTube is more fun than actually playing it, because it has more style than substance.
Tumblr media
So - does all of this mean that Tattletail should've franchised, and taken the opportunity to improve its core gameplay and develop its story? All the other IPs franchised, so surely franchising is optimal for chainbase games, or any indie game more generally?Well...
On the one hand, there is a risk of unfulfilment. 'Tattletail 2' would need to be similiar enough to the original to appeal to the fans, but also different enough to stand out and actually add something to the franchise. It would need to sell to established followers and newcomers, whilst also maintaining quality and expanding on the story in rational, interesting ways, and enhancing the gameplay to be more complex and challenging. Its a tall order for an indie game with limited resources, and perhaps the expectations for a Tattletail 2 were simply too tall for the devs - it would be immensly disappionting for audiences if a followup failed.
On the other hand, disappiontment is guaranteed by not doing anything. Although all risk is avoided by leaving a good thing as it is, the developer(s) in question are also dooming a brilliant idea to forever remain forgettable and minimal. There could be so much more the Tattletail, people are still invested in the concept almost a decade on, but alas - it ended before it could even start.
This question of franchising is a dilemma of potential, because every other chainbase game opted for the former option - and not all of them were good. Franchising is a risk, and what comes out of it is not always an improvement, or even an equal to what came before. Making just one additional media can lead to a slippery slope of further additions to a franchise that become cashgrabs or shift so far in tone they break the identity of the franchise...
Tumblr media
'The Indie House' by sarah4AMEN
Ultimately, as one of the chainbase games, Tattletail would've absolutely succeeded as a franchise - but would it have been any good? Would it garner more substance than style?
I doubt it - I don't imagine the storytelling would've become more interesting, and the gameplay would take a long time to improve even just a little bit, because what makes the chainbase games successful is not good drama or the experience of play, but marketable characters and the unique vibes mascots can bring to horror.
The way I see it, Tattletail belongs with the likes of 123 Slaughter Me Street and Showdown Bandit - it doesn't deserve to be forgotten, nor is it a bad game, but to say that it is anything more than average wilfully ignores its similairities to bigger and 'better' games of the same calibre. It is bound to the chainbase.
Tumblr media
'From random games' By JulieDraw2046
In conclusion then, Tattletail has an oddly respected status as the only major chainbase game that avoided franchising. As every other indie mascot horror game of the era continues to produce new and seemingly-endless content to this day, Tattletail remains a singular event, despite the appeal for further content that is consistent with every other game of its calibre, and its similarities in game design and storytelling.
I refute that is is particularly special or worthy of better treatment than Bendy or FNaF - but at the end of the day, Tattletail was a decent indie game, nothing more, nothing less. It is what it is...and that is perfectly fine!

LINKIN PARK - "THE EMPTINESS MACHINE"
youtube
In which we are raged against...
[5.11]
Ian Mathers: To the extent that Linkin Park ever were/are cool, it's at least partly because they absolutely do not seem to care if some people find them cringey. The teenagers (and others) who resonated with "One Step Closer" et al, and now find that the lyrics here touch on the pain and grief of living in our increasingly/eternally dystopian times, don't need the band to be less sincere. Recruiting a new singer who was inspired to both sing and scream via her love of Hybrid Theory (and who has apparently distanced herself from Scientology, or else my tone would be... different), but who doesn't sound like she's just doing a Chester Bennington imitation, is probably about the only way to handle this short of going the Shinoda-only route. Slightly to my surprise, I find that I'm happy they're back. [7]
Alfred Soto: Aptly titled. [3]
Mark Sinker: Genius dot com tells me this song is about the CRITICS and how all they want to do is TAKE YOU DOWN -- but I prefer to believe that it’s an intransigent Adorno-esque critique of administrated present-day life, its lures and its hells. Emily Armstrong has the kind of voice I unreservedly love (and Mike Shinoda does not).  [7]
Harlan Talib Ockey: No one else is ever going to sound like Chester Bennington, and the (poorly-considered) choice of Emily Armstrong implies that Linkin Park wasn’t looking for an impressionist anyway. But their first single with a vocalist who is very audibly not Bennington is the blandest possible version of Linkin Park, including the right ingredients to show fans they’re still the same band while filing off just enough serial numbers that it doesn’t sound retrograde. There aren’t any concessions to Armstrong’s vocal style or musical influences, either of which could’ve made this less slick and more distinctive. I do appreciate how Linkin Park has grown up with their listeners, as the teens raised on Hybrid Theory are now the prime age for an anthem against soul-sucking corporate adulthood — that still understands audience calibration and brand identity. [4]
Nortey Dowuona: The frustrating part about the brouhaha about Emily Armstrong is that whatever her affiliations, she understands becoming part of a cult formed out of the wound of abuse and the agony of cutting yourself out. We are only social creatures, many of us choosing unhealthy groups to find our own identities, only for the lucky few to get free and enter a healthy community -- or, more likely, loneliness again. Perish a thought for those who can never get free. [7]
Jel Bugle: I like their new singer, she’s adding some much needed energy – I’m not sure if Mike’s opening lines were deliberately dreary, to highlight Emily's power? Anyway, it’s a smart move by Linkin Park. Musically, it’s alright, not that exciting – they should go more metalcore rather than pop nu-metal. But as a radio-friendly unit shifter, this will do well! Music for traffic jams. [6]
Jeffrey Brister: I liked them more when they were “Refused for teens who have absolutely no idea who the fuck Refused is.” [1]
Taylor Alatorre: Packaging your radically rebooted line-up in an unadorned riff repeater is the alt-rock version of the median voter theorem -- you can't be seen as going too far too fast, and reassurances must be given to key voting blocs. Of all potential compromises, though, this one is far from the worst, and it reinforces the band's preferred narrative in subtle ways. The dry, compacted production lends the feeling of a group restarting from scratch, huddling in the proverbial garage as they try to figure out what works and what doesn't, which elements are central to the Linkin Park sound and which are secondary. The album title From Zero nods to the band’s late-'90s predecessor, and there is indeed a sense of pre-history here, mixed with alternate history -- what if Hybrid Theory was the sophomore sellout album, and this was what the originalists had clamored for all along? It's an intriguing little fantasy, and it becomes more credible when Emily Armstrong is given her cue to explode, fulfilling in an instant the dreams of a generation by making a million bedroom cover songs canon. The lyrics are not so transferable, though, given how clearly LP-centric they are -- no one could ever think that "your favorite point of view" is about overbearing parents or high school backbiters. But it would be absurd to a expect a "view from nowhere" account from a band whose identity is suddenly a melee free-for-all. [6]
Katherine St. Asaph: More like the empty content machine. The band couldn't have predicted -- or, at least, hopefully didn't predict -- that the "fuck the haters" lyrics would sound offputtingly defensive in the context of the Emily Armstrong backlash. (It's irritating how people see her as some rando and not the frontwoman of a long-running band, but man, between that and later singles, Dead Sara's reputation has just cratered.) But given that Armstrong's role here seems to be sounding as much like Chester Bennington as possible, was it all necessary? [5]

Capcom is literally a multi million dollar company… can’t they…Double their employees and pump one RE remake/title a year???? Am I stupid???
There are already FIVE TEAMS working on RE games. HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE per team. They even have a secondary studio (M-Two) working on shit.
You can't saturate the market like that. People aren't going to shell out money like that. Video games aren't like shows; you don't get them in a packaged subscription service. You have to pay $60 or $70 every single time. Most people don't have that kind of money or that kind of time.
There's also the issue of Capcom not just being an RE machine. They produce other games. And they don't want to put themselves in a position where their own games are competing with each other. The last thing you want is to put someone in a situation where they have to decide if they're going to buy the new RE OR the new MonHun. You want them to be able to get both.
And in order to support doubling the staff, every single one of those releases will have to do double-digit millions in order for Capcom to maintain profits that'll make their investors happy. It's impossible. It can't happen like that.
The game industry already has a MASSIVE PROBLEM with mass layoffs and shuttering studios in order to maintain the image of perpetual growth. Capcom, so far, has been able to skirt those problems, but they won't be able to keep that up if they double their staff.

MX Linux review
I've used my old secondary computer to distrohop and try out various Linux distributions. And I've recently tried out MX Linux. It is Debian-based, one of my favourite things, and its flagship desktop environment is Xfce, another of my favourite things. I'm currently running Debian with Xfce on my main machine, which provides a good point of comparison.
I have used Antix, which is a closely related distro, with developers working on both. MX is a more fully-featured distro, a self-described "middle-weight" rather than lightweight. The gist of the history is that Antix was originally based on a distro called MEPIS, and when development on that distro died, the Antix community got together with the Mepis community to create a continuation, which is MX.
So what does MX add that is not in vanilla Debian with Xfce? Quite a lot actually, that makes the whole experience a lot more user friendly. The main thing is the MX tools, a set of GUI-based tools that does a ton of useful stuff. The most important IMO is a package manager with update notifications that handles flatpaks in addition to .deb based packages. On Debian, I have to use synaptic to manage .debs, install and update flatpaks entirely via command line, and remember to check for updates myself. Like I know how to do that, but can't argue with something that makes things easier.
One of the more interesting tools is a boot options manager, which enables you to configure boot options from within a booted-up system. This enables you to choose init systems between sisvinit and systemd. Systemd is not enabled by default, the default is sivinit, but it is included in order to run programs that require it. And with the boot options, you can set MX to use systemd as the default. Now systemd is controversial and there are other distros that are systemd-free versions of popular distros, like artix for arch, and devuan for debian. And MX Linux provides a good compromise in the debate by allowing you to choose the init system quite easily.
There are other mx tools, like a multimedia codec installer, a gpg key fixer, and a live usb boot maker that enables you to clone a running system, and make an iso of it, to transfer it to another computer.
MX also does other useful things, like backporting newer versions of Firefox, Thunderbird, and Libreoffice than what Debian provides. And flatpak is enabled by default.
The distro's documentation is excellent too. The user manual is excellent, providing information on how to use MX Linux and how it works, but also on Linux in general works and how to migrate from a proprietary OS.
All in all, MX Linux is a solid derivative distro. It adds features and options to its Debian base without breaking things in the process. And it's entirely community-run, no corporate bullshit like with Canonical. One of the devs even has "anticapitalista" as a handle.

3 Beautiful Ways to Use Pressed and Dried Flowers | DIY Crafts You’ll Actually Keep!
I started working with dried flowers and pressed botanicals a few years ago, and it has taught me a few things.
Delicate dried flowers can burn or disintegrate in epoxy resin.
Glossy Mod Podge however much we love it, can make you cry (and even ruin your floral project).
Depending on your project, pressed flowers MUST be chosen as carefully as you would choose fabric, paper, or paint colors.
So how can you still work with these lovely mediums and create long lasting, archival art that you can be proud of? Read more to learn about 3 of the most botanical-friendly crafts.
Framed Glass Art
Tumblr media
What you’ll need:
Double sided glass frame. (any size)I buy mine on Aliexpress or Amazon.
Clear glue, glossy mod podge, or a tape runner.
Pressed flowers
Scissors
How to make it:
Start by selecting your botanical specimens and arranging them in your frame. Use scissors to trim and refine your arrangement until it is to your liking.
Remove all of the flowers, and strategically place dots of clear glue on the inner glass. Wait until your glue becomes tacky. The time will depend on the type of glue that you’re using.
Tip: Test out the cure time by placing a few different sized glue dots on a plastic surface. See how long it takes for the glue to become more viscous and less runny.
Place the flowers onto the glass. Make sure to tack down all specimens with glue until they’re difficult to move. Allow the glue to dry completely before closing the glass frame.
Once dry, display your beautiful arrangement!
I love making smaller arrangements for office spaces and display shelves. These also make adorable secondary gifts in care packages.
Glass offers a more eco-friendly alternative to epoxy resin. Though I love working with resin, I’ve started to become more conscious and selective of my usage to creation ratio.
2. Floral Bookmarks
Tumblr media
What you’ll need:
Pressed flowers. Preferably long stem flowers that press very flat such as fleabane and daisies. You can also use small flowers without stems.
Self or thermal laminating sheets.
Thermal laminator. (If using thermal lamination)
Scissors
Cricut Cutting Machine (highly recommended for a cleaner result) However, you can also create your own frames. Simply use two gift tags or rectangular pieces of paper. Measure and cut out another rectangle of your preferred size in the center of your paper. Use an X-Acto knife to make the cut out.
Kraft paper cardstock
Glue stick, or my personal recommendation, Kuretake Glue Pens. They will make less of a mess, and create a longer lasting bond on kraft paper.
How to make it:
If using a Cricut machine, start a new project in Cricut Design Space.
Search for “bookmark frame” in the “images” section.
Select a design you like the shape of. You can also create your own by “slicing” new shapes into existing templates.
Resize your design. Choose whatever size will accommodate the shape of your flowers.
Cut out your frames out on kraft paper.
Once you’ve cut out your design, remove half of the frames from the mat. Leave the other half on the mat. This will make keeping them flat easier once you’re ready to assemble everything.
Laminate your flowers. Be sure to use your frame as a guide to arrange them within the window. Leave an inch of space between each arrangement for cutting if you’re making more than one bookmark.
Cut around the flowers, leaving a bit of allowance for gluing them onto the frame. I never measure like I should. Just use the frame as guide to avoid cutting off too much laminating plastic. We will hide the ugly jagged cutting job later. 😅
Return to the mat and apply a generous layer of Kuretake glue to the entire surface of the frames still stuck to the Cricut mat.
Carefully place the laminated floral arrangement on the frame.
Apply another layer of glue around the edges of the lamination, and also on the other frame.
Place the second frame over one of the mat frames, and press down firmly. Tip: You can also place a book on top to keep them flat.
Let your bookmarks dry for about 20 minutes before adding your embellishments. I love using key charms, grommets, ribbons, or tassels.
Check out my inspo photos below! Get creative with decorating.
3. UV Resin Pendants
Tumblr media
Before I started working with UV resin, I was told that it isn’t light fast. Which is true for most resins on the market. I’ve also heard that it yellows over time and that the UV light burns flowers.
These are all things that I’ve experienced working with flowers in UV resin. However, I’ve managed to make projects that have stayed glossy, clear, and beautiful for over 2 years now, and I want to share my tips and tricks!
Tip #1: USE a high quality UV resin such as the one from Counter Culture DIY.
Tip #2: AVOID using delicate flowers such as forget-me-nots, hydrangeas, larkspur, etc. If the petals are thin and delicate, they WILL become distorted or burn. Think florets, spaced petals, and small leaves.
Tip #3: USE opaque, strong, and VERY flat flowers such as pressed Violets, Chamomile, Fleabane daisies, Rosettes, Queen Anne’s Lace, and Baby’s Breath.
Tip #4: AVOID flowers with too many overlapping petals. These will trap air bubbles inside of your resin layers that tend to express during curing. They tend to cause very large holes and gaps.
What you’ll need:
Very high quality UV resin (My suggestion: Counter Culture DIY)
Cabochon bases or frame pendants
Barrier tape (if using a frame instead of cabochon base.)
Toothpicks to pop bubbles (I actually prefer using a sewing needle)
Light Curer such as a nail lamp. I use the Melody Susie 36W nail lamp from Amazon. Counter Culture DIY sells one specifically for their UV resin as well.
Pressed Flowers (My favorite seller on Etsy)
Optional: Colorants. I use mica powders, acrylic paints, and black and white resins from Counter Culture DIY (not sponsored, I wish!) These give your resin a background to stand out against.
Nitrile gloves
How to make it:
Start by applying a thin layer of UV resin to your base or taped frame. This will be the layer with color (if using pigments).
2. Pop any visible bubbles with a toothpick and cure the first layer for about 1-3 minutes.
3. Apply a thin dot of clear resin to the first cured layer. This will give your flowers something to stick to as you arrange them.
4. Once your flowers are arranged, apply a few strategic dots of resin around them to keep them in place. Cure the first thin layer without covering the flowers completely. Remember to pop bubbles!
5. Continue to add thin layers. Cure each layer for 1-3 minutes each. Repeat this process until your flowers are covered and your top coat has a domed appearance.
6. Finished! Avoid touching your project for several minutes until fully cooled. You don’t want fingerprints in your shiny top coat!

Why Choosing Second Hand Machinery Can Give Your Business an Edge
Tumblr media
In today's fast-paced business environment, companies are constantly seeking ways to optimize their operations while reducing costs. For those in the printing and packaging industry, investing in machinery can provide numerous benefits. Why buying second hand offset printing, flexo graphic, and cutting machines is a wise investment for businesses.
Cost Savings
One of the most obvious benefits of investing in second hand machinery is cost savings. Used machinery can be significantly less expensive than new equipment, making it an attractive option for businesses looking to reduce their expenses. By purchasing used machinery, companies can allocate more resources toward other areas of their operations, such as marketing, sales, and research and development.
Quality Equipment
Another misconception about used machinery is that it's of inferior quality. This is not necessarily true. The machines have been well-maintained and are still in excellent condition. In fact, many companies choose to upgrade their machinery even when it is still in good working condition, which means that secondary equipment may not have been used for very long at all.
Reduced Downtime
When a business invests in new equipment, there is often a learning curve associated with getting the equipment up and running. This can result in downtime, which can be costly. However, operators are already familiar with the equipment, so there is no need for extensive training or downtime. This means that businesses can start using the machinery immediately, without any loss of productivity.
Increased Flexibility
Another benefit of investing in secondary machinery is that it can provide increased flexibility for businesses. By purchasing used machinery, companies can test out different types of equipment without committing to a large financial investment. This can be particularly useful for businesses that are just starting out or for those that are looking to expand their operations.
Environmental Friendly
Finally, investing in second hand machinery can also have environmental benefits. By purchasing used equipment, companies are reducing the demand for new machinery, which can help to reduce the carbon footprint of the industry. Additionally, many companies that sell used machinery also offer repair and maintenance services, which can help to extend the life of the equipment and reduce waste.
Investing in secondary offset printing, flexographic, and cutting machines can be a wise decision for businesses. From cost savings to increased flexibility, there are numerous benefits associated with purchasing used machinery. So, if you're in the market for new equipment, consider the benefits of investing in Galaxy machinery.
