I had a dream about JayVik lmao

Lemme tell you about it

In my dream, I was watching like another season of arcane??

Anyway, it started with Jayce getting spat out of the Arcane into another universe, but for some reason Viktor and Jayce got sent to different universes

Jayce starts looking around for this universe's version of him and Viktor, and then he finds Prototype Viktor in Zaun.

Prototype Viktor basically tells him that Hextech never became a thing in that universe and Jayce died years ago

And Jayce is like "Ok, can you help me go back? I need to find my Viktor" and Prototype is like "No :)"

So Jayce tries to make another anomaly to go back with his Viktor, but he can't figure it out on his own, so he goes and begs Prototype to help him until he says yes

And then they start working on it together, but as they progress Prototype is more distant and doesn't wants to help

Theeenn finally they manage to create something similar to the Z drive, but at the last moment Prototype just grabs it and tries to destroy it

They fight and Jayce stops him and he's like "what the hell is wrong with you?"

And Prototype starts telling him about how he met Jayce all those years ago, and it's basically the same as the show, except that they don't manage to get Hextech to work that night and the guards find them so Viktor gets expelled from the Academy and both get exiled

They go to Zaun and start living together and Prototype was like "don't worry, we'll figure it out" but his Jayce gets into a really bad depression, and Prototype then tries his best to make Hextech work, but he also can't do it alone, and Jayce is getting worse and worse and Prototype starts trying desperately to make Hextech work because he thinks that once they have Hextech Jayce will get better

Then Prototype's Jayce commits suicide and Prototype stops working on Hextech completely, never touching it again until Arcane Jayce arrived

And Prototype screams at Arcane Jayce "So what!? You get your Hextech and then you'll go and leave me alone again!?"

And then I woke up lmao

After they fell into bed together, Steve woke up afraid that they'd done something they won't be able to take back, even though Danny was everything he'd wanted for years. He was scared Danny was going to regret it, and he decided to sneak out before he woke up so they could pretend nothing happened. Having already put his shirt back on, he couldn't resist looking back at Danny, watching him stretch sleepily, before it was too late Danny woke up.

When putting it like that, it seemed ridiculous, how could he slink away in the middle of the night as if they did something wrong when nothing ever felt more right?

Danny knew Steve well enough to know it was just his instinct to flee when things got real, leave them before they leave you, that sort of thing. He knew he had to grab onto Steve and not let him go for Steve to know he was wanted. He wasn't about to let him slip away when they finally got to this point.

Steve couldn't help but smile, Danny knew him so well. Knew him and accepted him and wanted him to stay. He was being stupid, they would be alright as long as they are together they will figure things out.

As Steve shrugged out of his shirt and wrapped himself around Danny's body again, Danny murmured 'There, isn't this better? Don't forget you promised me morning sex, you better be up to task'. Steve chuckled as he kissed his cheek softly. 'Anything for you, sunshine'.

my notifs recently got me thinking about the very random concept of "what if there is a second, secret CHB. directly below normal CHB." and i ended up brainstorming it in the discord.

context for how this originated: one was just a random notif on my post talking about the tunnels under the Hephaestus cabin, and the other was some tags from @drksanctuary on my fake readriordan article mentioning the idea of a chthonic demigod camp.

so. my brilliant (read: "smashing my 2 brain cells together") idea: the elaborate and seemingly infinite tunnels under cabin 9 are remnants of an abandoned underground CHB that exists directly underneath camp. It's basically just normal CHB except in a big cave system, probably connected to the labyrinth somewhere and has the separate tunnels, and instead of the Olympian cabins it has chthonic cabins. there's probably also some infernal nymphs and etc down there too. since all chthonic demigods can learn to shadow-travel they probably used that to get down there, and a lot of chthonic demigods probably have geokinesis just by nature, ergo the tunnels (for when they don't want to shadow-travel, or can't).

in brainstorming with the discord we decided it could be cool if some of the cabins lined up with the above-ground cabins, either for thematic purposes or associations or whatever. Like there's maybe a Hermes and maybe Poseidon cabin in the chthonic CHB too that just link to the above-ground ones, but also like Persephone cabin lines up to Demeter cabin because of course it does. and maybe Hecate cabin lines up to Cabin 8 cause Artemis is sometimes 1/3rd of Hecate. Maybe Angelos cabin is beneath Cabin 1, and Zagreus cabin is beneath Cabin 12. Things like that.

The other ones i thought of were either Hypnos or Thanatos cabin lines up with Apollo, because twins, and the other is just right beside it (because twins). And Charon's cabin is beneath Cabin 9, ergo why the tunnel system connects to it (because Charon. Ferryman. Surface access. It makes sense in my brain).

that's probably a bit of an understatement, given that, actually, ender would rather be doing basically anything except his job, but it gets the point across.

he's standing in a sweaty, yelling crowd and "watching" a fight, but really he's subtly scanning the room for the person he's supposed to make contact with, managing to blend in despite towering over most people at 6'6". he starts to move towards the edge of the crowd, further into the building, slinking between bodies.

There's a few minor characters in a later One Piece arc that disprove your theory re: inheritance of fish-like traits, but your world-building speculation is really interesting!

Actually one of Big Mom’s young sons looks fully Fishmen. De-Chat.

Got these two asks so I looked into it a bit more.

Something I find really interesting is that Big Mom's kids, De-chat and his mermaid sisters look nearly the same as full-blooded fishmen and merfolk. Big Mom is interesting because she doesn't really look human due to her size but is apparently just a little to short to count as a giant. It might be possible that she has giant ancestors somewhere in her past--but also who knows, she could also have fishmen or merfolk ancestors as well.

Again, this is just me trying to make sense of One Piece biology that was never supposed to make any sense. Oda only designs characters based on how they look and fit into the story. He's not going to limit his artistic talent to reality or make world building rules that might also put restrictions on what he can draw.

But for me, how I'd make sense of Big Mom's kids looking so much like their seafolk fathers is to say that somewhere in her background she has a fish-person or merfolk parent. Given how Oda says their dna works, with it remembering any secondary species (like whale shark, or goldfish) it makes sense that human hybrids generally get more human traits because one parent lacks a secondary species to pull from. Meanwhile, both fish-people and merfolk are human, so the genes have more ways of combining in a way that emphasis human traits.

But if someone has seafolk ancestors their dna would still carry that secondary species, even if they themselves do not have any fish traits. If they then had children with a fish-man or mermaid that child could have a higher chance of inheriting fish traits. This could explain why Big Mom has such pure looking seafolk children.

Meanwhile other hybrids we see like Sapi look nearly entirely human except for a fin on his head. Dellinger is interesting because he looks almost fully human as well, but most of it seems to be because he can hide those traits. He can choose whether or not to have human teeth, or hide his fin.

I'm no expert on dna or genealogy so my head-cannon is probably nonsense, but to me seafolk kind of feel like eeve in a way, where they're dna is kind of unstable. Whenever they have kids what they look like is a complete crap-shoot, where anything is possible. On top of that it doesn't seem like their abilities or size is always determined by their fish traits. Some of them look nearly human, except with non-human skin tones, while others look extremely inhuman--like Zeo or Hammond.

Which again is very purposeful on Oda's part. He's drawing cool characters. The reasons why they look the way they do doesn't matter to him at all. I just try and come up with reasons because I find it fun.
