Ken finding out about Rosie re-upping after his 25 missions (he thought he was safe and then he's suddenly not anymore)

Rosie crashing and breaking his arm in France, and Ken's reaction to him returning to Thorpe Abbotts (he's seeing a ghost and it's the best feeling in the world)

Buck's return, and Ken apologising for fixing the plane just in time the day he got shot down (he feels Buck pull him close and the tears well over)

Ken saying goodbye to everyone at the end of the war (he's watched them fly off so often before but this time he knows they won't come back and he's not scared)

my mota OCs as olympians because i have to

mahalia - reigning gold medalist in women’s tennis but not the favorite because of the injury struggles. she has a fiery relationship with her doubles partner, fellow princeton alumni john egan. know for a mouth and a temper, plays with tactical precision and crazy speed, and is not someone you want to get in a fight with on twitter. she has a nike campaign and a racquet you can buy at dick’s sporting goods and outfits that have her fans making edits of her to meg songs on tiktok. doesn’t play about her parents. is coming into this olympics with less fire than usual, but her best playing in two years. some think she learned from the injury, some think it’s getting a new coach, but everyone can agree that it’s definitely not getting a new training partner in john egan, who seems to be the only person seeing the old mahalia on the court.

bucky - back to back tour champion. hasn’t medaled at the olympics yet, but after a roller coaster first five professional seasons, he’s held it together these past two seasons mostly due to a coaching switch. bowman seems to pick the problem kids. charming, strong, looks good in wristbands, has an undefinable relationship with a woman who could knock him unconscious with a tennis ball. he seems to linger around mahalia more and more as they fight less and less. they even stood with each other for the parade of nations. has a real shot this year.

hazel - beach volleyball, plays with sheila hartman. third olympics. got silver in her first, bronze in her second, and is chasing that elusive gold using momentum from the best professional season of her career. played on a national championship indoor team at stanford and everyone assumed she’d go pro in europe like her older brother did, but she joined the beach circuit instead. she’s found lots of success there, but there’s always been a “what if” hanging over her head. maybe this year she can prove that she’s right where she needs to be. is very friendly and welcoming to new players, but it’s no more mr. nice guy come game time

jack - two-time indoor volleyball olympian, first time beach volleyball olympian. it’s worse on his knees but easier on his shoulders. (there’s definitely something going on between him and hazel keene, right? or is it just me?)

dora - 100m and 400m hurdles. two timer. she’s fucking fast. always has her nails did, hair did, and face beat on track. always smiling. dating fellow columbia law student and olympian rosie rosenthal, a triathlete. hops the into the stands to hug him when she wins. has darren, delilah, and her grandparents’ names drawn on her shoes. wants to be a sports agent for black athletes when she retires.

rosie - proud boyfriend first, law student second, olympian third. not here to win, but brings home an honorable bronze nonetheless. dora definitely makes tiktoks about being a world-class athlete and student at the same time and rosie is in a lot of them and the world is in love with him but he’s the most married man of all time without being married.

vera - women’s eight rower, bow. top of the field in her sport, less than 5k followers on the instagram, incredible husband and beautiful, loud husky at home. she’s living the life. advocates for mental health in sports and coaches rowing when she’s not competing. rowed with ginny in college and hopes to defend her title from last olympics. has a smattering of tattoos and approx 12 piercings in each ear. married to u.s. men’s soccer player ben demarco (not playing this season due to injury but followed his wife to paris. making hab content on ig and tt)

ginny - women’s eight rower, seat 6. daughter of two olympic rowers. her two oldest brother, danny, and second youngest brother, peter (at the olympics) row quadruple sculls and quadruple sweep respectively. her youngest brother nathan is a ncaa champion eight, just like her. she and vera match their outfits each race, including hair and jewelry (up to 2 piercings, ginny ain’t doing all that).

lola - 50-200m freestyle. swims a crazy anchor leg for the women’s and mixed relays. the only person happier than her when she wins is fellow swimmer john brady.

bobbie - indoor volleyball, middle blocker. 2x ncaa player of the year and 4x first team all-american lighting europe tf up in her first professional season. but is it enough? her father, robert chambers, was on the last u.s. men’s team to win gold and she’s expected to outmatch his legacy by defending the u.s.’s title.

dolores - park skateboarder who takes on the course in wired headphones and not only does she not get tangled, she normally wins. soooooooooooooo bisexual.

how long would you say it takes to write a chapter? like not including planning out the storyline and everything just the writing portion and editing

Annnnnywhere from a few hours to a handful of days. If it’s a chapter where I have to use show dialogue, or follow what’s happening in an episode, it’s closer to the second option. On average, it’s about a day of writing and a few hours to half a day of editing. Some scenes, where I’m weaving a storyline or making sure to drop hints, take much longer, because I have to check notes and my outlines to make sure EVERYONE is exactly where they’re supposed to be and all of the clues have been left to give you the best chance of “figuring it out” before our characters.

Like Rafe’s secret? You have about 90% of the clues needed. 😉

MoTA also requires quite a bit of research and looking up as I write, so some chapters take longer than others. Like the current one I’m writing is one that I really want to be as accurate as possible with, so I’m looking up a lot of things to set Frank up for some interesting storylines later on.

Sorry but am I the only one that thought that episode…sucked? Like it was straight up bad. Horrible pacing, no wrap up of all the random characters and plot lines they’ve thrown around all season (the tuskegee airmen, Westgates spying, literally all the guys beside like the main 4). (Seriously it makes me so mad that the three redtails got all of 5 seconds of screen time, almost no lines. Literally what was the point of introducing them other than to pretend the show was iNcLuSiVe) Even at the end of BoB and the Pacific you get a much better idea of what happened to all the remaining guys. In this they’re like what happened to DeMarco or Hambone or Brady or (insert character here) we don’t know! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The concentration camp scene felt shoehorned in compared to how it was done in BoB. Unless that actually happened to Rosie (which i haven’t heard anything about) but it was just like.. ok? It all felt so rushed and emotionless to me. Maybe I’ve just fallen out of love with MoTA but it’s been downhill for me since episode 6 or so.

i already made a little (read: long) post-finale write-up here, where i talk about the use of the tuskegee airmen, l'sandra, and overall editing/pacing issues i felt the show had. but i don't agree with the notion that adding the redtails was in any way insincere or trying to halfass being "iNcLuSiVe", i just think they suffer from this show's obvious time constraints. and to summarize what i wrote in my linked post, there's a limit to what white writers/directors/producers can do when creating a story about black people. there are some stories i'd feel uncomfortable with them telling on their own, truth be told. dee rees wasn't the sole nonwhite director, but she Was the only black one. i think she did her job well given the limitations and i appreciate that they let her direct those episodes, rather than leaving it up to a team of white people trying their best to tell a black story.

the worst i can say about the finale is that it didn't feel like That strong of finale, tho i wouldn't go as far to say it "sucked" or call it "straight up bad". i liked it plenty, it's just the weakest of the hbo war finales imo.

as for the concentration camp scene, artistic license was taken with both shows. unlike what's seen in the BoB, easy company wasn't the first to arrive at kaufering, and there's 0 mention of the all-japanese american 552nd who helped them liberate it). similarly, rosie rosenthal did assist in liberating those camps, though it would've been after the events shown this episode. idk if he saw one in that up-close way seen in this episode, but he could've (i should research this when i have time). plus, it would've felt weird Not having him acknowledge them at all. "shoe-horned" is an odd term to use here imo, as both scenes more-or-less center a jewish character (BoB's liebgott and MotA's rosie). the former show has survivors the characters can help, the latter shows no one left to help. the former has all of easy company there, the latter has rosie there all alone. rosie's scene felt deeply personal in that way. at the end of the day, both scenes are communicating different things. that doesn't make one better than the other when they aren't trying to be identical. (disclaimer, i'm not jewish, so i'd be interesting hearing from the perspective of someone who wrt whether or not they felt it was "shoe-horned")

i can understand if you've disliked the show post-episode 6 (and episode 6 was a very strong episode i'm ngl). eps 7 and 8 were weaker in many ways, even to me, so i get it. everyone's entitled to their own opinion (i'd be a hypocrite saying otherwise). just understand that this blog is run by someone who overall enjoys this show despite its flaws! basically, i encourage you to take this energy and make your own posts.

Details: The Morgan Plus 4 70th Anniversary Edition

As production of Morgan’s steel chassis draws to a close, a special Plus 4 celebrates 70 years of Morgan’s most popular model.

In 1950, the first Morgan Plus 4 rolled off the production line at Pickersleigh Road. Over the next 70 years, it would develop through myriad iterations, but always prove a hit with buyers.

Now, production of the steel chassis – on which the Plus 4 has always been based – is to finish. It begs the question: how to celebrate not just seven decades of the Plus 4, but the ending of its construction, too? Morgan’s design team has put pen to paper, and this result is the Plus 4 70th Anniversary Edition.

For the first time in the company’s 111-year history, the chassis has been painted in gold, to highlight its significance. A celebration of 70 years is, of course, a platinum anniversary, so what’s more appropriate than Platinum Metallic paint? That’s complemented by satin dark grey wire wheels, a motorsport-inspired front valance, and exterior black pack including a black stone guard, A-pillars and sidescreens.

Inside the car, the finest grade of leather has been sourced, while specially embroidered headrests differentiate the edition. A Ravenwood veneer dashboard, dark grey box weave carpets and satin black Mota-Lita steering wheel have been handpicked for the model, as well as a leather-trimmed steering cowl and door handles, heated ‘performance’ seats, footwell lighting. An exclusive commemorative Photographic Build Record, mohair hood cover, and sidescreen storage bags are also included with the car. To mark the cars out as some of the last steel-chassis Plus 4 models, each one features an individually numbered plaque.

The changes don’t end here, though. Under the bonnet, the model gains an engine map configured by Aero Racing, Morgan’s in-house motorsport specialists, raising power from 154bhp (115kW) to 180bhp (134kW), and taking its 0-62mph (0-100kph) acceleration time down to less than seven seconds. Alongside this, the cars are fitted with an Aero Racing sports exhaust, finished with a ceramic-black tail pipe, allowing the engine to truly sing.

Just 20 cars will be built, priced at £60,995 inc. VAT in the UK, however, deposits have already been taken on every car. A small number of late-production Plus 4 and Roadster models remain in the Morgan Dealer Network, and Morgan recommends that those interested in purchasing one contact their nearest Dealer at their earliest convenience.

The Morgan Motor Company has built the first four examples of its limited-run Plus 4 70th Anniversary Edition models just before the factory closed (for the first time since World War II)for one month as part of efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The production of the Plus 4 70th Anniversary Edition models follows the launch of the all-new Plus Four earlier in March 2020, which is underpinned by Morgan’s latest CX-Generation aluminium platform. The new Plus Four is referred to with a wordmark as opposed to the numerical reference of its predecessor, and will replace the outgoing 4/4, Plus 4 and Roadster. The Plus 4 70th Anniversary Edition models will be the last to be built on Morgan’s traditional steel frame chassis, a version of which has been in production since the Morgan 4-4 was introduced in 1936. For a short period of time, the last of the traditional steel chassis Plus 4 models are being built alongside the first of the CX-Generation platform Plus Four models. First built in 1950, the Plus 4 is one of the company’s best-selling models throughout seven decades of production, and is admired by fans of Morgan worldwide. For the first time ever, the chassis will be painted in gold, highlighting its significance in Morgan’s 111-year history. Just 20 Plus 4 70th Anniversary Edition cars are to be built. They feature an individually numbered plaque, marking them out for years to come as some of the last steel-chassis Plus 4 models.
