as of today, february 2nd, ww2yaoi turns one year old! I initially made this blog to promote my mota fic (which I thought absolutely no one would read) so the first thing I ever posted here was a link to my second clegan fic I wrote. that post got 3 notes (maybe even less at the time) but that fic is now my most popular ever at over 1k+ kudos on ao3!!! just goes to show you never know what's gonna happen...

this year has been a rollercoaster in terms of my interests. going from mota/clegan mania in the first part of the year to my insane web(gott) breakthrough around april when I read parachute infantry for the first time. then these last few months I've been so pacific pilled it's not even funny (sidsledge nation there are dozens of us!! dozens!!!). from the spring to the end of the summer I wrote about 90k of unreleased webgott fic then eventually started posting some other stuff on ao3 again (thank you for your support as always <3333) and although I've been on a bit of a fic posting hiatus lately, there are things in the works... trust

to celebrate my blog's bday, I thought I'd highlight some of my fave things I've made for this blog over the past year. because I have made A LOT of bullshit. this blog has been a passion project of mine and a great creative outlet. even if it's lowkey kind of stupid it takes a lot of effort and love to be this stupid :P here we go...

my mota OCs as olympians because i have to

mahalia - reigning gold medalist in women’s tennis but not the favorite because of the injury struggles. she has a fiery relationship with her doubles partner, fellow princeton alumni john egan. know for a mouth and a temper, plays with tactical precision and crazy speed, and is not someone you want to get in a fight with on twitter. she has a nike campaign and a racquet you can buy at dick’s sporting goods and outfits that have her fans making edits of her to meg songs on tiktok. doesn’t play about her parents. is coming into this olympics with less fire than usual, but her best playing in two years. some think she learned from the injury, some think it’s getting a new coach, but everyone can agree that it’s definitely not getting a new training partner in john egan, who seems to be the only person seeing the old mahalia on the court.

bucky - back to back tour champion. hasn’t medaled at the olympics yet, but after a roller coaster first five professional seasons, he’s held it together these past two seasons mostly due to a coaching switch. bowman seems to pick the problem kids. charming, strong, looks good in wristbands, has an undefinable relationship with a woman who could knock him unconscious with a tennis ball. he seems to linger around mahalia more and more as they fight less and less. they even stood with each other for the parade of nations. has a real shot this year.

hazel - beach volleyball, plays with sheila hartman. third olympics. got silver in her first, bronze in her second, and is chasing that elusive gold using momentum from the best professional season of her career. played on a national championship indoor team at stanford and everyone assumed she’d go pro in europe like her older brother did, but she joined the beach circuit instead. she’s found lots of success there, but there’s always been a “what if” hanging over her head. maybe this year she can prove that she’s right where she needs to be. is very friendly and welcoming to new players, but it’s no more mr. nice guy come game time

jack - two-time indoor volleyball olympian, first time beach volleyball olympian. it’s worse on his knees but easier on his shoulders. (there’s definitely something going on between him and hazel keene, right? or is it just me?)

dora - 100m and 400m hurdles. two timer. she’s fucking fast. always has her nails did, hair did, and face beat on track. always smiling. dating fellow columbia law student and olympian rosie rosenthal, a triathlete. hops the into the stands to hug him when she wins. has darren, delilah, and her grandparents’ names drawn on her shoes. wants to be a sports agent for black athletes when she retires.

rosie - proud boyfriend first, law student second, olympian third. not here to win, but brings home an honorable bronze nonetheless. dora definitely makes tiktoks about being a world-class athlete and student at the same time and rosie is in a lot of them and the world is in love with him but he’s the most married man of all time without being married.

vera - women’s eight rower, bow. top of the field in her sport, less than 5k followers on the instagram, incredible husband and beautiful, loud husky at home. she’s living the life. advocates for mental health in sports and coaches rowing when she’s not competing. rowed with ginny in college and hopes to defend her title from last olympics. has a smattering of tattoos and approx 12 piercings in each ear. married to u.s. men’s soccer player ben demarco (not playing this season due to injury but followed his wife to paris. making hab content on ig and tt)

ginny - women’s eight rower, seat 6. daughter of two olympic rowers. her two oldest brother, danny, and second youngest brother, peter (at the olympics) row quadruple sculls and quadruple sweep respectively. her youngest brother nathan is a ncaa champion eight, just like her. she and vera match their outfits each race, including hair and jewelry (up to 2 piercings, ginny ain’t doing all that).

lola - 50-200m freestyle. swims a crazy anchor leg for the women’s and mixed relays. the only person happier than her when she wins is fellow swimmer john brady.

bobbie - indoor volleyball, middle blocker. 2x ncaa player of the year and 4x first team all-american lighting europe tf up in her first professional season. but is it enough? her father, robert chambers, was on the last u.s. men’s team to win gold and she’s expected to outmatch his legacy by defending the u.s.’s title.

dolores - park skateboarder who takes on the course in wired headphones and not only does she not get tangled, she normally wins. soooooooooooooo bisexual.

Summary: John wonders if it would've been better if Curt didn't pull him out of that freezing pond.

It was late—one of those nights where the quiet of the loft settled too heavily over the apartment. Gale was still at his desk, headphones on as he edited something for a client, and Curt was out on his shift. That left John and Ken sprawled out on the couch, Meatball curled up at their feet.

John had barely touched the joint they were sharing, letting it burn down in the ashtray. He stared blankly at the muted TV, the faint blue glow outlining the tired lines of his face. Ken noticed how quiet he’d been all evening, how heavy his presence felt.

“John? You okay?” Ken gently sat forward and rubbed the man's shoulder.

John let out a hollow laugh. “Loaded question, Ken.”

“Yeah, well, I asked it anyway.” Ken shifted to face him, his tone light but his eyes serious. “What’s going on?”

For a moment, John didn’t answer. He just ran a hand through his hair, the other fidgeting with the hem of his hoodie. When he finally spoke, his voice was low, almost like he didn’t want Ken to hear.

“Sometimes I wonder if it would’ve been easier for everyone if Curt hadn’t pulled me out of that pond.”

The words hung in the air like a punch to the gut. Ken froze, his chest tightening as he processed what John had just said.

“What?” Ken’s voice cracked, the younger boy taking in the weight of John’s statement, “John what the hell are you talking about?” 

John gave a weak shrug, his gaze fixed on the floor. “I mean, think about it. I’m a mess, Ken. Gale spends half his time worrying about me, Curt’s always picking up the slack, and now you’re stuck in the middle of it too. Wouldn’t it have just been… simpler?”

Ken shook his head, his heart pounding in his chest. “No. No, John, it wouldn’t have been simpler. It would’ve been devastating. For Gale, for Curt, for me, hell, even for Meatball. Don’t you see how much we love you? How much we need you here?”

John didn’t respond, his expression unreadable. Ken grabbed his hands, forcing John to look at him.

“Do you think for one second that any of us would be better off without you? Because we wouldn’t, John. Losing you would’ve shattered us. It would’ve shattered me.” Ken’s voice broke, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes.

John finally met his gaze, and the pain there was almost too much to bear. “I just feel like I’m dragging everyone down,” he whispered.

“You’re not,” Ken said fiercely. “You’re not, John. Yeah, you’ve been through hell, and yeah, it’s hard sometimes. But you don’t have to go through it alone. We’re here for you—for all of it. The good, the bad, and everything in between.”

Ken’s hands tightened around John’s. “You matter, John. To me, to Gale, to Curt. We want you here. I want you here.”

The silence that followed was heavy, but this time, it wasn’t suffocating. John let out a shaky breath, his shoulders sagging as he leaned into Ken.

“Thanks,” he murmured, his voice barely audible.

Ken wrapped an arm around him, holding him close. “You don’t have to thank me. Just… promise me you’ll talk to us when you’re feeling like this, okay? Don’t keep it bottled up.”

John nodded in agreement, “I’m sorry for talkin’ like that.”

“It’s okay, c’mere.” Ken motioned for him to shift on the couch and lay across his lap. John crawled over to him and picked up the joint on the way. Taking a hit to ease off the spiraling thoughts. 

“Thank you,” John passed the joint to Ken, settling into the younger’s lap. Ken gently scratched at John’s curls in response. The sound of Real Housewives filling the apartment again as the silence settled amongst them again.

how long would you say it takes to write a chapter? like not including planning out the storyline and everything just the writing portion and editing

Annnnnywhere from a few hours to a handful of days. If it’s a chapter where I have to use show dialogue, or follow what’s happening in an episode, it’s closer to the second option. On average, it’s about a day of writing and a few hours to half a day of editing. Some scenes, where I’m weaving a storyline or making sure to drop hints, take much longer, because I have to check notes and my outlines to make sure EVERYONE is exactly where they’re supposed to be and all of the clues have been left to give you the best chance of “figuring it out” before our characters.

Like Rafe’s secret? You have about 90% of the clues needed. 😉

MoTA also requires quite a bit of research and looking up as I write, so some chapters take longer than others. Like the current one I’m writing is one that I really want to be as accurate as possible with, so I’m looking up a lot of things to set Frank up for some interesting storylines later on.

Last post about my old old old art from back in the day. Some of these photos include custom skins I'd make for myself on imvu. I was real into the yt girl emo tattoos, whether it was rainbows w/ emo faced cupcakes, or just straight dark arm tattoos. Unfortunately, IMVU quality SUCKED lol so it may be blurry, but I plan to remake or make these type of tattoos in Blender & DAZ! Already have to a great extinct. Scarling, Cindyy, Aedah, Lollipawp & her sister, Rockabilly, Pinup, Pop, and many other IMVU creators helped me when it came to their tattoo skins. Some edits made by loved ones.

I wanna cry lol below this big paragraph is my old IMVU homepage from 2013 bra I was a whole child coding and putting photography on my page. & what makes me emotional is the stuff | wrote about myself. It's tiny so I zoomed in for those curious. It's just crazy how I knew who I was before I actually knew myself and loved myself and I don't even remember me knowing I loved art bc majority of my life (until 2023) was filled with hella chaos and pain. This is why it's so good to reflect bc things really do better and God is always so good. Like I really was destined for this art life and it's just crazy to me. I always knew I was different but the fact I owned it despite me hating it for a long period of time is just crazy bc I don't even like thinking about my childhood. So not only is this a milestone for me it's just overall fucking crazy. Say, man... God is good all the time. Excuse my language that that too.

I zoomed in to show y'al what I said. & that's just a profile picture I used on IMVU a lottttt. I was obessed w/ omahyra Mota too btw. still am. she folllows me on ig one of my biggest flexes of all time lol.

I just saw your last post haha 😭 he was my under-the-radar client too! his tiktok tag views were at like 154M before the dating news and now it's at like 210M. his star is rising like crazy which is good! I'm hoping that mota is in the contention for some awards and that he snags a good project next lol. about the joe thing, her fans basically have it in their mind that bc he didn't really like attention and wasn't showy about the relationship that he resented her for it and was unsupportive. but dua and callum have been dating for like 2 seconds lol these stans have to be like 12 years old ugh. and all these trashy outlets are trying so hard to make everything about his relationship while he's trying to do his job promoting mota

Lmaoo I knew as soon as I saw edits of him with 200k + likes that the jig was up. I was hoping it would be like what happened with The Capture where there was buzz but then it died down but idk if that's going to happen this time 😭. Tbh I want what he's said he wants for himself, to be like DDL or Christian Bale, all the critical acclaim, none of the tabloid nonsense but idk how that's going to happen now. Sorry but am I the only one that thought that episode…sucked? Like it was straight up bad. Horrible pacing, no wrap up of all the random characters and plot lines they’ve thrown around all season (the tuskegee airmen, Westgates spying, literally all the guys beside like the main 4). (Seriously it makes me so mad that the three redtails got all of 5 seconds of screen time, almost no lines. Literally what was the point of introducing them other than to pretend the show was iNcLuSiVe) Even at the end of BoB and the Pacific you get a much better idea of what happened to all the remaining guys. In this they’re like what happened to DeMarco or Hambone or Brady or (insert character here) we don’t know! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The concentration camp scene felt shoehorned in compared to how it was done in BoB. Unless that actually happened to Rosie (which i haven’t heard anything about) but it was just like.. ok? It all felt so rushed and emotionless to me. Maybe I’ve just fallen out of love with MoTA but it’s been downhill for me since episode 6 or so.

i already made a little (read: long) post-finale write-up here, where i talk about the use of the tuskegee airmen, l'sandra, and overall editing/pacing issues i felt the show had. but i don't agree with the notion that adding the redtails was in any way insincere or trying to halfass being "iNcLuSiVe", i just think they suffer from this show's obvious time constraints. and to summarize what i wrote in my linked post, there's a limit to what white writers/directors/producers can do when creating a story about black people. there are some stories i'd feel uncomfortable with them telling on their own, truth be told. dee rees wasn't the sole nonwhite director, but she Was the only black one. i think she did her job well given the limitations and i appreciate that they let her direct those episodes, rather than leaving it up to a team of white people trying their best to tell a black story.

the worst i can say about the finale is that it didn't feel like That strong of finale, tho i wouldn't go as far to say it "sucked" or call it "straight up bad". i liked it plenty, it's just the weakest of the hbo war finales imo.

as for the concentration camp scene, artistic license was taken with both shows. unlike what's seen in the BoB, easy company wasn't the first to arrive at kaufering, and there's 0 mention of the all-japanese american 552nd who helped them liberate it). similarly, rosie rosenthal did assist in liberating those camps, though it would've been after the events shown this episode. idk if he saw one in that up-close way seen in this episode, but he could've (i should research this when i have time). plus, it would've felt weird Not having him acknowledge them at all. "shoe-horned" is an odd term to use here imo, as both scenes more-or-less center a jewish character (BoB's liebgott and MotA's rosie). the former show has survivors the characters can help, the latter shows no one left to help. the former has all of easy company there, the latter has rosie there all alone. rosie's scene felt deeply personal in that way. at the end of the day, both scenes are communicating different things. that doesn't make one better than the other when they aren't trying to be identical. (disclaimer, i'm not jewish, so i'd be interesting hearing from the perspective of someone who wrt whether or not they felt it was "shoe-horned")

i can understand if you've disliked the show post-episode 6 (and episode 6 was a very strong episode i'm ngl). eps 7 and 8 were weaker in many ways, even to me, so i get it. everyone's entitled to their own opinion (i'd be a hypocrite saying otherwise). just understand that this blog is run by someone who overall enjoys this show despite its flaws! basically, i encourage you to take this energy and make your own posts.
