(Count)down to Dawntrail. 6/26
Weigh anchor now, the tide is high, And dawn of new adventure nigh. Row forth to break horizon's bond, And tread the gilded path beyond!
context:
She returns to where it all began-- to Vylbrand.
The stone within the Seasong Grotto reads as thus:
I am the waves that bear, I am the winds that guide, I am the evening stars, I am the morning sky. I am born of the sea, and there I shall die.
There, she makes a pilgrimage to Nymeia's effigy, leaving Her lily as tribute-- either as an act of reverence or defiance of the cards Sister Fate had dealt, as if to say, 'Here is my thanks to the monster who did not succeed in swallowing me alive.'
She takes her dagger in hand and cuts her hair. It's a new start. There, she renounces her old life.

Sightseeing Log entry #3 :: Seasong Grotto
"'I am the waves that bear, I am the winds that guide. I am the evening stars, I am the morning sky. I am born of the sea, and there I shall die.' Apparently this monolith has something that the La Nosceans call the 'Sailor's Requiem.' Aside from the very last part, it almost sounds like the oath Estinien and I made to one another. He is my guiding winds and light after all."

scholar — for the single-word drive!
"Wait," the archon hummed a small sound of disbelief, "don't tell me the vaunted Warrior of Light doesn't know how to read!"
R'koko sucked on her bottom lip, her brow creased in concentration as she stared at the pages in front of her. Raw text--no pictures or diagrams--filled the paper. When her friend had invited her to spend an afternoon in the Noumenon together, R'koko had assumed that all Y'shtola wanted was some company--something to break up the monotony of reading book after book on opening voidgates and navigating the rift; perhaps some of R'koko's insight based on the times that she had spent traversing the rift. R'koko had not been expecting Y'shtola to put a book in her hands and ask her to read it aloud.
It was easy to forget the cloudy-eyed Scion was blind. For the most part, she moved through the world as well as anyone else, using aethersight to find her way. And while she was not forthcoming about the toll that aethersight took on her body, there was no denying the benefit that it provided her. Her limitations did, however, make themselves known when it came to books. In a tragic twist, the scholarly miqo'te could not see the words on a page unless they were written in enchanted ink or embossed into the paper. Stone tablets were easier, because letters were carved into their surface, but if they were worn and weathered Y'shtola struggled with them.
Regardless, Y'shtola was never one to let her struggles show, so R'koko didn't think twice about whether her friend would be able to read books on her own with aethersight.
In this case, however, it would seem not. R'koko's heart had hammered in her chest as Y'shtola put the book in her hands. The Warrior of Light had opened the cover and been disappointed and a bit panicked to find no pictures. At least pictures would have helped R'koko fake it, keep her best friend believing that she could read, staving off pity and disappointment and deep embarrassment.
Instead line after line of strange characters stretched out across the page. And about a minute into her halting and labored attempt to read the book aloud, Y'shtola had stopped her, her face a mix of surprise and amusement. The Warrior of Light couldn't read.
"I never had reason to learn back home," R'koko murmured. And it was true. She had shown tremendous talent and skill as a hunter from a young age, and the leaders of her village cultivated those skills in her, rather than literacy or other more traditional elements of classroom education.
Y'shtola smiled gently. R'koko didn't want to look, didn't want to see the pity on her friend's face. But when the archon spoke there was no pity there, only kindness and intimacy. "I wish I could teach you. I wish I had known when we had first met in La Noscea." She stifled a chuckle. "Maybe I did know, could tell, by the way you stared at that memorial stone in Seasong Grotto, with such a perplexed look on your face."
R'koko's shoulders sagged. "Your memory is too good, you know."
Y'shtola leaned forward, whispering into R'koko's ear, "Maybe you're just too memorable."
R'koko blushed, but the comment disarmed her. "Just," she stammered, "don't let the twins know I can't read, okay?"
"My lips are sealed," Y'shtola said, the corner of a smile creeping into her words. "Can you imagine though? You would never hear the end of it from Alphinaud."
R'koko rolled her eyes. "I know." They both laughed, and R'koko relaxed. Y'shtola really was her dearest, most important friend, and as the two miqo'te laughed together R'koko wondered why she had ever hidden this from her, because of course Y'shtola wouldn't judge her for her illiteracy.
"As for the matter at hand," Y'shtola nodded towards the book R'koko was holding, "shall we fetch G'raha? He'll be able to read that. And I have a feeling your secret will be safe with him."
"Right," said R'koko, "G'raha it is."

Limsa Lominsa & La Noscea (1/3)
Barracuda Piers, Limsa Lominsa
These docks provide safe mooring for the Thalassocratic Navy's principal squadrons, also known as the Crimson Fleet. To prevent sabotage, admittance to the area is forbidden to the general citizenry; however, on clear days, one may catch a glimpse of the armada flagship, the Triumph, from atop one of Limsa Lominsa's myriad spans.
The Astalicia, Limsa Lominsa
Registered as a trade vessel hailing from foreign waters, this battle-scarred warship captained by the lord of the region's underworld, One-eyed Hyllfyr, serves as a gathering place for brigands, cutthroats, and the purveyors of sundry other breeds of villainy. It is here that the city-state's pirate crews find new recruits to join their ranks.
Seasong Grotto, Middle La Noscea
Nestled within a shallow cavern situated to the south of Summerford Farms sits an ancient monolith upon is carved this, the Sailor's Requiem: "I am the waves that bear, I am the winds that guide. I am the evening stars, I am the morning sky. I am born of the sea, and there I shall die."
The Skylift, Middle La Noscea
Once an endless expanse of flat, rocky meadows, Middle La Noscea is now severed by a sheer cliff known as the Descent. To maintain overland trade routes from the easterly outposts of Aleport and Bronze Lake, Lominsan engineers created the Skylift - a tower of wooden scaffolding outfitted with pulleys, winches, and lighter-than-air balloons.
La Thagran Eastroad, Middle La Noscea
When the Galadion fell victim to the Navigator's fury and ran aground on the southern shores of Vylbrand seven hundred years ago, it was her two helmsmen, Jean De Nevelle and Guy La Thagran, who were tasked with exploring the newfound island - the former heading east, the latter, west. To this day, their routes still serve as La Noscea's two main thoroughfares.
The Salt Strand, Lower La Noscea
When struck by a fallen shard from Dalamud's outer shell, a massive amount of concentrated aether was released from just below the surface of the Rhotano Sea, immediately fusing with and crystallizing the towering fount of saltwater which was expelled during the impact. City-state-funded exploratory forays into the inner crater have all yet to return…
Red Rooster Stead, Lower La Noscea
The farmers on the Red Rooster Stead will rarely shy from testing the agricultural acumen on exotic crops or untested growing methods, and take pride in their willingness to sacrifice a harvest if it means a better yield an autumn hence. The plantation's name is said to be taken from the bloody cockfights held after nightfall by the gamekeeps.
Brewer's Beacon, Western La Noscea
This relatively new lighthouse was built soon after the Calamity claimed Swiftperch Tower to ensure safe passage for trade vessels carrying shipments of dark stouts and blonde barleywines out of Aleport. In addition, the candlekeeps also keep watch for increasingly frequent rogue tidal waves caused by the stirrings of the Lord of the Whorl.

After generating a few names I landed in Mossclan; also, I selected grotto to fit with the name
The leader is:
The young and naive leader, her raise into leadership was and is very controversial. She was select by Bluebellstar in her deathbed after her previously deputy died. Some say that Seasong or Shadowrunner should have been the leader instead of her. Shardstar agrees herself with that sentiment often doubting herself and being very insecure of her decisions. She chosen Seasong as her deputy in order to appease the clan and also because she thinks Seasong should have been the leader.
Seasong the Mossclan deputy, a very wise and respectable member of the clan ,she is regard as the true leader of Mossclan, despise that she is very humble and see Shardstar as great leader in the making find her to be a already amazing cat. She is a lovably presence that cares deeply about everyone, sometimes to her own detriment.
(she is not Shadowrunner mate btw, I made them date accidentally)
Here is the other members of moss clan so far.

In Which the Nerds of Light Hand the Ascian Problem to the Police
Matsu, the Au Ra Star Druid/Life Cleric White Mage; Barry, the Garlean Armorer Artificer Gunbreaker; and Sayonji, the Viera Bladesinger Wizard Red Mage
Previous: 1 | 2 | 3
An interesting session last time.
After that possessed goobbue fight, the party was down on resources but given the urgency of finding their kidnapped mark, pushed forward in their investigation.
The first thing then was following the trail of Brevil's dragged body (presumably) through the dirt, all the way to Seasong Grotto.
However, upon arriving there, a few things became apparent:
There was no one at the grotto. Though there was clearly some evidence of activity, Sevrin had lied: there were no bodies or victims.
There was, however, a lot of goobbue prints; it's likely the goobbue was set up to rampage here and set upon the heroes.
The cave walls had phosphorescent blue lichen on the walls, and small empty paint pots where blue paint had been mixed with it.
There were bits of rope of the shells of slumber nuts here and there, from where prisoners were being subdued.
There was no trail out. It became clear that the obvious trail had been a trap that had already sprung. So they didn't know what to do next. But they could still see the glint of glass on the bluff, so they opted to go check that out.
The mists came in while they were climbing the bluff, and they found an empty camp. Clearly, someone had been watching, but they vanished before the group had gotten there. But they did find a note:
Clearly, it was written in code. PIRATE code. So what were they to do but bring it back to the pirates at Summerford for some help??
So they headed back down the bluffs and on the way back to Summerford, they were beset upon by another pirate ghost! It tried to warn them to leave this place, but Sayonji's laughter in the face of its terrible attempt to scare them sort of put it right in its place. It started arguing with them ("I'm plenty scary, mate!") and getting annoyed.
Barry cast Faerie Fire on it, and it was... cloud shaped? And when the mists started to retreat, it panicked, and quickly became people-shaped -- and corporeal!
He was a miqo'te serpent reaver pirate apparently named E'mirhu. He insulted them a bunch and tried to get away, but they tied him up and took him back to town. He was ... pathetic.
Back at Summerford, it turns out Jodis and her reinforcements didn't arrive because she was trying to convince EVERYONE to come rescue Brevil, and refused to leave until EVERYONE had taken up arms. But the attempt was given up after the heroes arrived and Brevil was nowhere to be found.
At Matsu's direction and Staelwyrn's agreement, they took E'mirhu to Staelwyrn's house and hung him on the door in the kitchen. Staelwyrn was able to translate most of the note: Meeting for all the captains, on the 14th at 2:30am (3:00 am is the WItching Hour, colloquially known as the WItch's Teeth). Death Knell to the Rung Bell (aka, snitches get stitches). He wasn't sure what Whispers meant.
Matsu directed Barry towards some... creative... torture, putting a metal bowl over E'mirhu's junk and having Barry Shocking Grasp it. Barry was really uncomfortable with this. E'mirhu wasn't thrilled either, but soon he started antagonizing Barry over being too soft and incompetent.
They managed to get that the captives were typically held at Woad Whisper Canyon before being shipped off somewhere; but soon he had no more information to give. He just wanted to snarl at the party and try to goad them into killing him.
So, they correctly guessed that there was a big mucky-muck meeting of all the local Serpent Reaver captains at Woad Whisper Canyon ("Whisper") in a little over 24 hours. And the group thought, you know what, this is over our paygrade. Baderon would not thank us for pursuing a lead so clearly better meant for a platoon of Yellowjackets and more advanced adventurers. So let's get this guy and our information turned over to the folks at Limsa.
(DM: -looks at giant pile of notes and encounter design and sighs, putting it away-)
So, Sayonji and Radimir went hunting slumber nuts and made a sleeping draught and put E'mirhu to sleep. Matsu and Y'shtola bundled him into a burlap sack and labeled it POTOTOES. Barry hid in his room, feeling icky.
However, when Sayonji came to collect him, he found that Barry had finally had some kind of breakthrough and was feverishly tinkering on some new armor pieces. (Hitting level 3 in Armorer). They nerded out together, then Sayonji let him know they were headed out to Limsa.
Y'shtola agreed to accompany them and give her recommendation to Captain Milala before she heads off to report to her own group.
And so our heroes set off at night, a burlap sack full of dumbass miqo'te pirate in the cart, headed for Limsa...
Sayonji's TLDR:
We pressed on, with no way of knowing where the kidnappers were planning to meet, to the cliffside, where we had previously seen signs that we were being watched. Despite our deft efforts to pass unseen up the mountainside, (zip pan to loud geeking out on the cliff face that makes you suspect an avalanche could be caused to say nothing of spoiling stealth), we arrived only to find a deserted camp. The camp itself revealed little, save a curious note written in pirates' code. Along the way of our return to our employer (whose experience would surely lead to some insight regarding the note), we were handed another break in the case by our adversaries' apparently lax hiring practices. The ghostly visions, which had seemed competently executed when delivered by the witching hour, fell utterly flat on a second viewing by daylight, and their operator was swiftly captured. Though he was reluctant to talk of the details, this buffoon was readily encouraged to give up some details, given he was already most likely doomed by being discovered at all. Combined with the captain-mayor's quick deciphering of the note, we had valuable intel on the next meeting of our quarry. Given all of this, he is probably safest where he is, bundled up in a gunney sack on an apple cart, headed back to the city, where we too are headed...
Barry's Just As Long Didn't Read:
Oh man, you guys, this is turning out SO CRAZY! :O After the fight with the Goobbue, Y'shtola told us about stuff that I honestly don't remember because my head was THROBBING (and being a co-DM makes it hard to differentiate what my character learned on-screen vs what I know from prep, apparently). But we started to explore together, and the first thing we did was head towards the grotto.
There we found a glowing blue lichen growing on the walls, and the remnants of slumbernuts! It seems like a place where the kidnappers were holding their victims and sedating them before taking them off elsewhere. Unfortunately, we couldn't pick up any useful trails after, so we decided to check out those people (or ghosts??) on the ridge who were watching us.
We walked casually as far as we could, before sneaking the rest of the way, and we found...! An empty campsite. :( Though I found a spyglass! :D And Matsu found a note, which was MUCH more useful. The note was written in code, and though we could guess at what some of it meant, it was largely gibberish. But it seemed piratey! So we thought we should take it to a pirate!
On our way back to town, though the ghosts attacked us again!! Except it was just the one ghost this time, and it was a lot less scary than before? And then the mists moved and it was... um... a dude. A serpent reaver, to be exact. We "fought" him, though it seemed more like we were bullying him. I zapped him a few times, but only when he was fighting us! We eventually managed to tie him up and took him to the town.
When we arrived in town, Jodis had almost gotten all the pirates together to come out for reinforcements, but instead we showed up with a serpent reaver in tow! So we updated them on what we learned, and took the pirate to Staelwyrn's for interrogation.
I have to admit, I have... uh... mixed feelings about how things went there. Matsu made me touch the pirates... privates and threaten him with my zapper. Every time I saw him wince, it made my stomach jump, and I did NOT like it! Eventually the pirate started yelling stuff at us, and I just had to leave the room. Everything was reminding me too much of the interrogations I'd witnessed back in Garlemald. I know Matsu and Sayonji are good people, and they're doing what they do for good reasons. Maybe I'm just not as good an adventurer as they are...
But, oh, oh, here's where it gets exciting! I started working on my powered armor concept to get my mind off things. I was thinking about what I'd learned about aetherology theory from my talks with Sayonji and Y'shtola, and... and things just started to click! NRFT was a great foundation when I was working out the power supply issues, but it's too high-level to solve my motility problems! If I narrowed my scope down to Nan Onasis' Levinaerothetic Equations, I could start to see that... [ed: this continues on for several pages and has been omitted for brevity]
It took a while, and I stayed up WAY too late into the night working on it, but I think I have my first prototype for my powered armor! I only have chainmail to modify, so I can't truly test it out just yet on a full set of gear. Note to self: Pick up plate armor as soon as possible. A full set of plate was pretty affordable back in Garlemald, but then I know we benefitted from economy of scale, and all plate armor in Eorzea is made by skilled artisans. Hopefully it's not too expensive...
Oh, right! With the aetheric interference problem from my armor solved, I was able to use a power tap from my armor to power my prototype gunblade!! I can't wait to try it out!! :D
... what was I writing about? ... oh yeah! After a long talk with Staelwyrn in the morning, we decided to pass our information, and the captured pirate, off to the authorities in Limsa, which I'm VERY relieved about. Y'shtola is going to talk to her friends (superiors?) about what she's found as well. Hopefully this will be useful, and we've been able to do at least a little to help stop the kidnappings!
I hope the next job Baderon gives us is a little less exciting, though.

Neither has confessed their feelings. I do have ideas though.
Asel and Y'shtola
It began in the Seasong grotto with a recitation of The Sailor's Requiem.
Yes, Y'shtola has had Asel's interest from the first.
It began with idle idolization. Asel was impressed by her intellect and wished she could be as well-spoken and calm as she was.
This changed with time as these things are wont to. If one were to ask her, Asel would be unlikely to point just when and to what.
There were many turns in their relationship beginning with Titan and lately during their time in the Rak'tika Greatwood.
Asel thinks she will confess soon. She hopes Y'shtola will accept her feelings. She also hopes that one day they may live together, mayhaps in the Great Gubal Library. Perhaps elsewhere. As long as they are together.
But first, she needs to talk to her more. And probably introduce her to her parents.
Oscar and G'raha
For G'raha, it started early with his stories of heroes. With the hearing of one in particular and then meeting the man. He was fascinated.
For Oscar, it started with a quiet conversation under the stars by the shore of Silvertear Lake. With knowledge of the stars and their stories shared. With a bond forming.
But then it ends, or perhaps pauses, when G'raha seals himself in the tower. The nature of said bond confuses Oscar.
It doesn't help that approaching a noncaffeinated Thancred with questions like "What does a crush feel like?" and "How do you know if you have one?" is apparently a bad idea.
For Oscar, thoughts on the matter fade until he winds up in the First.
For G'raha, the tower is unsealed and things become far more complicated.
Nothing is resolved in the First and yet so much is learned from their time there.
And now they are together again on the source. With time, Oscar will figure out what his feelings mean. And hopefully, he will talk to G'raha about them before they head to Tural.
They may even have a future together among the Students of Baldesion. They could always use a bodyguard and the warrior of light/darkness is more than qualified.

7U-0005-3U-23
My first job as an adventurer and already I find myself wondering if setting out like this was the correct decision.
The job Baderon had for me had me traveling out into La Noscea to Summerford Farms, a small farm and orchard operated by a group of former pirates. It seems they have been having issues with a spat of abductions recently and a good number of their workers were becoming increasingly frightened and unwilling to actually work.
Thus I was sent out by Staelwyrn, the leader of the farms, to investigate these abductions and ideally put an end to them. A rather heavy task for a brand new adventurer, but they had confidence I could do it. And I do have Opal by my side!
The only information they had was that there were alleged sightings of the pirates abducting people near a cave known as Seasong Grotto. It wasn’t too far from the farms, so I hiked out there after checking my equipment. In the middle of the cavern was a large enscription. As I began to read it, a voice from behind startled me! A Seeker, I now know her name to be Y’shtola, snuck up behind me. Apparently she had been investigating the very same abductions and came to the same cavern as me.
We began talking, but quickly found ourselves under attack. A swarm of enraged goobbues came charging into the grotto and attacking us. Y’shtola and I were able to fend them off but by the end I was truly exhausted. One of the goobbue dropped a rather large crystal, and upon grabbing it I appear to have passed out.
Another bizarre dream. The same void from my dream on the boat to Limsa, but the cloaked man was not present. Instead, I witnessed a terrifying meteor shower raining down from the heavens. Something within me stirred, as if somehow this sight were familiar. I felt fear like none I have ever felt before. The meteors passed, and an enormous opalescent crystal, bigger than anything I could even begin to imagine, appeared before me and began speaking.
The crystal… she called herself Hydaelyn, and begged for me to banish a Darkness which she claims will end all life. She instructed me to gather crystals, much like the one I had picked up just before passing out, as they would guide and protect me.
This is all simply too much. Me? A hero of sorts, saving the world from some great darkness? I fear that the excitement of becoming an adventurer may truly be going to my head.
When I awoke, Y’shtola was finishing her investigation into the goobbues which had attacked us. It appears that they were indeed sent by the group abducting people, enraged by a knife embedded in one goobbue’s hide. The knife implicates pirates as the likely culprits. We may not have caught them in-person, but we do at least know better what to watch out for. When I returned to Staelwyrn, he was quite pleased with the information and moreso glad of my safe return.
I mentioned to Y’shtola the dream I had of Hydaelyn and she appeared to recognize the description judging by her excited response. Perhaps it was not a dream, but a vision? But that only brings me greater fear. I am a simple Keeper from the southeastern Shroud, how am I to be a hero of any measure?
For now, I am taking a brief rest to recuperate. Whatever is happening to me, whatever comes next, I need to be sure I am well prepared. I thought simply to train in arcanima and find work to send money home to my family. I was not prepared for this. Poki, Lho, mother, Hawu, Sami… I hope you are doing well. It has been barely a week and so much has happened.

For J'mhazi, the echo remained dormant in him until the calamity. The calamity struck as he was in the middle of traveling away from home, and while he arrived in Limsa relatively unscathed, he was left with a strange sort of occasional deja vue, a very inconvenient and minor sort of precognition, right up until the first Echo vision struck him in the face in Seasong Grotto. Initially, the Echo was merely a very strange and irritating thing, no particular sensations tied to it, but the more aware he became of it the more taxing it became, physically and otherwise. The pain came much later when its power and hold grew, winding in with his emotional state, his aether, and causing a number of problems for him.
