“How long do ye think this one’s gonna last.?”

Conner scoffs. “I don’t..”

“What do ye think she’ll look like?” Murphy murmurs as he lights his smoke.

“Hopefully not like the last one..” Conner mumbles back as Murph lights his for him. The Aequitas marked brother laughs. “Bet ye she is..” Conner smirks “Bet ye she isn’t” they giggle and wait.

You had been busy cleaning some cutlery . The pub was busy tonight. Though you were currently facing away from the people, the busily chatter of the people, the smell of burning shag and alcohol told you. You knew folks would be growing impatient waiting to be served, and unluckily you were by yourself behind the bar tonight. Your grandfather had asked if you could fill in for him that night since he wasn’t feeling too well and you couldn’t say no to your old man, even though you would’ve much rather been looking after him, or doing anything else. Eventually you turn around, ready to fulfil the liquid requests from the customers. Two young men catch your attention. They were situated in front of you, on the stools behind the counter. They both were leaning their arms on the counter as they smoked. You take in their appearances. They shared familiar features. Striking cerulean eyes, light facial hair, matching tattoos. Brothers maybe? You couldn’t help but wonder. The one on the left had messy, dark brown hair, a contrast to his supposed sibling on the right, who wore an ashy brown on his spiky strands.

You finally speak up “Can I get you both anything?” The two share a look, their lips curling up. The lighter haired man clears his throat before he answers . “Aye, Guinness please” He hands you the cash. You thank him before turning over to pour their drinks. Conner and Murphy slowly turn to look at each other “Ye owe me” Con teases. Murph laughs and nudges him. “I hope this Lass stays forever” They both thank you for the beverages after being handed them. As the night drags on, more and more people leave till it was just you and the brothers. Murphy had been wanting to talk with you all night and now he finally had the chance. Conner knew he wouldn’t shut up.

You were leaning on the counter as you listen to Murphy ramble on about how he pranked Conner that morning at work. You weren’t paying all too much attention to his story. Your focus was on how happy he looked telling you all this. You study the rest of his features, his blue eyes, his dark hair, the mole above his lip. You had learnt that your assumption was right and that the two were brothers, twins in fact. You glance over at Conner, who gives you a small, smirky smile. You smile back and let your eyes wander over his face too, before looking back to Murph as he continues to speak. As time grows closer to the morning hours Conner pats Murphy’s back

“C’mon, it’s past ye bedtime Murph” Murphy shoots him with a stare. They both say goodbye to you and you watch them leave. “Ye really had to say that didn’t ye!?” Conner laughs feeling a light blow to the back of his head. He loved teasing his twin.

After watching them leave, you head to the back to grab your stuff. You were tucking the stools under and checking for any belongings. A black leather wallet on the floor. Opening it up you see his picture ‘Murphy MacManus’ You couldn’t help but smile, knowing they’d be back soon. Maybe working there wasn’t so bad?
