The Independent
Located between Austin’s Seaholm District and Shoal Creek, The Independent rises 688 feet and currently holds the title of tallest residential tower not only in the city, but west of the Mississippi. With a total size of 1,002,000 square feet, the tower has 363 apartments ranging from one to four bedrooms that incorporate floor plans that offer unique views and spatial qualities to residents.
A 30-foot cantilever suspends the 34th floor’s amenity deck over the city. The floor-to-ceiling glass window wall is made possible by the design choice to remove most structural elements from the building’s perimeter, allowing for unimpeded 360-degree views protected by Austin’s Capitol View Corridor.

Residential tiers are pushed and pulled to cantilever four distinct blocks. This dynamic form is achieved by sliding and mirroring floor plates from a central core. The mirroring of the floor plates resulted from the owner’s programmatic requirements to provide a diversity of unit orientations with the same floor plan.

At the top of the building, woven stainless-steel mesh wraps around the building’s mechanical systems, including a massive liquid damper tank that limits the sway of the 58-story structure in high altitude winds.

Keeping your front or back yard looking good means a lot of work should you have numerous trees to keep up. Mowing the grass is one thing but trimming trees becomes harder as they grow. New trees are easy to keep up for quite a while, but if you choose to top the tallest ones you will need to buy special tools for that. If you want to continue trimming your own trees, here are some suggestions gathered from tree care specialists.
Get Someone Who Can Help You
Doing the work by yourself is okay if you are physically fit and wish to save money rather than hiring a tree company. No matter, it is smart to have someone assist you. A helper will make the job a lot easier and more productive. When you climb up and down a ladder a few times for stuff, that could cause you to be tired or even reckless.
Think Safety First
Look at the area you are about to work on. Set up your work space away from things like lawn furniture or any other item that could get in the way while you are working. If that is impossible, be wary of your conditions and be extra careful if you have a fence close to where you are working.
Safety First Even With Tools
Some accidents are caused by tools that breakdown. All tree service specialists take care of their tools and so should you. Decent tools will save time mainly because the work will not be delayed if something breaks.
Safety ought to be a top priority. Anybody in good shape and organized for the job can to do it right if safety precautions are thought out in advance.
Tools of The Trade
Axe: This is one of the commonest tools that tree care companies use to cut down small trees. It can also be used to cut small pieces of wood.
Stump Grinder: This device is used exclusively for finishing tree removal jobs. When the bulk of the tree is removed the stump grinder is brought into play pull out the toughest part. Teeth on a stump grinder make short work of the leftover stump and roots.
Shears: Power trimming shears have a number of sizes and use. Several of the shears are only used to trim trees while the others are utilized to cut small branches. You also have the longer trimming shears to reach those high up branches.
Ladders: A ladder is used for smaller trees 30 feet tall or less. They can also be used to reach high branches as necessary.
Chainsaw: A power saw can be used to cut limbs off of the trunk rapidly. This tool is among the more perilous to use, so being aware of how to use one is very important.
Grub Hoes and Pick Axe: These tools are used for back yard trees. They are like other tools but smaller in size. They are very effective for getting rid of tree roots.
Rigging Rope: When removing tall trees rigging rope is a safety precaution. Rigging ropes are used to support the pieces being cut so they may be dropped slowly rather than falling to the ground. These riggings are usually used together with a safety harness for added certainty on the job.
Should you be seriously considering rigging rope might we suggest that you just opt for hiring a pro instead. The expense of the rope and harness alone is justification for a tree service company, instead of the bother of buying costly tools, the safety concerns, the hard work involved and then, knowing how and what to do so you do not devastate a perfectly beautiful tree.
The Advantages of Cutting Trees
Keeping your front yard looking good means a lot of work when you have several trees to to take care of. Mowing the grass is one thing but trimming trees gets harder as they grow. A lot of people can keep their trees nice for a number of years but in due course you need to use more equipment and even employ help to complete the job. Included here are a few tips for personal safety if your trees are that big and you still wish to do the work by yourself.
Get Able Body Help
Doing the job yourself is okay if you are in good shape and want to economize instead of getting a tree company. In case there is any climbing going on you are advised to have somebody else there, for support. A helper will make the job a lot easier and more productive. When you climb down and up a ladder a few times for stuff, that could make you tired or even clumsy.
Think Safety First
Take a look at the area you are about to work on. Make sure to work in a clear area without obstructions like a fence or anything which can hinder the work being carried out. If you cannot clear away an object that could cause an accident like a fence, make sure to be extra careful where you are working.
Safety First While Using Tools
Some accidents come from tools that breakdown. All tree service specialists take care of their tools and so should you. Tools that are maintained, save your time because delays can be avoided.
Safety should be a key concern. Any person in good shape and prepared for the work can to do it right if safety precautions are thought out in advance.
Tools of The Trade
Axe: This is one of the commonest tools that tree service companies use to cut small trees. Small bits of wood frequently get the axe also.
Stump Grinder: This is more frequently used in tree removal. Once the bulk of the tree is taken away the stump grinder is used pull out the most stubborn part. It has teeth that can be used to loosen up the soil where the roots are.
Trimming Shears: Power trimming shears have a variety of sizes and use. Some of the shears are only used to trim trees while the others are used to cut small branches. Then there are the longer trimming shears to reach high branches.
Ladder: Ladders can be used for small trees up to 30 feet roughly. You can use a ladder to reach high branches.
Chain saw: Once the tree is down a chainsaw is used to chop off limbs. Just Make Sure you learn how to handle one as they are commonly associated with accidents.
Pick Axe and Grub Hoes: These tools are used for landscaping trees. These are like other tools just smaller in size. These are often times used for removing stubborn tree roots.
Rigging Rope: This type of rope is useful for removing tall trees. Rigging ropes are used to support the pieces being cut down so they might be dropped slowly versus falling to the ground. These riggings usually are used in conjunction with a safety harness for higher stability on the job.
If you are seriously considering rigging rope might we recommend that you simply opt for hiring a professional actually. The idea of buying the tools alone should make a case for calling in a contractor, along with the safety issues, how much work is involved and realizing that your property cannot really handle damage due to a blunder on your part.
The Advantages of Cutting Trees
While homeowners are often dedicated to mowing and maintaining their lawn, they tend to overlook trees when it comes to lawn maintenance. Trees don't need cutting as often as grass, flowers or shrubs, so annual pruning is usually sufficient. However, if you are hesitant to hire a professional tree service, consider the many advantages that come with cutting your trees regularly yourself. You may find that the benefits are well worth the cost or effort.
Improved Appearance
Cutting the trees on your property can help improve their appearance. Regular pruning can ensure that trees maintain an attractive and appropriate shape and train them to grow in a particular direction or shape. Removing old fruit clusters or faded flowers can also help encourage the growth of new fruit and blooms. Because trees are usually one of the larger elements in your landscape, keeping them neat and trim makes a significant impact on the overall look of your property.
Improved Health
When cutting trees, remove any broken, diseased or dead sections. Doing so prevents fungi or bacteria that might rot other areas of the tree from spreading further. In addition, if a tree becomes overgrown, the branches can become crowded, which may weaken them. Removing excess growth can promote better air circulation and greater sun exposure as well, both of which are necessary for the overall health of your trees.
Safety
When a tree has weak or diseased branches, strong winds or storms are more likely to blow them around. If a tree branch should fall across a sidewalk, driveway or road, it could seriously injure passing individuals. In addition, if you allow trees to grow unchecked, they may begin to put pressure on your roof, neighbors’ home or power lines that run to your home. Cutting them back can help reduce the possibility of tree branches falling and causing damage to physical structures during heavy storms.
Increased Structural Integrity
With newly planted trees, conscientious cutting can ensure that they grow in a structurally sound way. It helps the trees to become sturdy and encourages the branches to grow in a balanced, symmetrical way. This type of structure improves the trees’ chances of surviving without problems going forward and helps prevent the need for structural support as they develop.
Improved Visibility
Keeping your trees neat and trim improves visibility for your landscape. Overgrown trees may block views from your home’s windows or deck, which can be frustrating. They can also block other elements in your landscape or architectural details of your home that you might wish to showcase. However, you can still utilize your tree cover to provide privacy around your home if you are careful about the way you cut it.

A Master List of Every Austin Restaurant Opening in Fall 2017
A lavish spread from Be More Pacific, set to make the leap from food truck to brick-and-mortar this fall.
Ah, fall. The air gets a little crisp, the leaves (sort of) start to change, and new restaurants open in a frenzy.
With the inevitable delays, reading the tea leaves of Austin hospitality can be difficult, but we’ve done our best to give you a comprehensive, alphabetical list of Austin restaurants set to open by the end of November. With everything from a new Filipino brick-and-mortar to a downtown food hall around the corner, it’s never too early to start putting on that winter weight.
Anthem, serving Asian fusion like flat bread egg rolls and craft beer, will come to the Millennium Rainey high-rise by the end of fall.
A second location of Austin Daily Press will be opening at 4620 E. Cesar Chavez St. by late fall with an expanded menu that moves from tacos and tortas to tapas.
Be More Pacific, the punny Filipino food truck, is going brick-and-mortar in the former home of Rebel Pizza Bar. By the end of October, expect a full-service experience with a tasting menu for dinner, a casual counter-service lunch, a lavish Sunday brunch, and a full bar. 7858 Shoal Creek Blvd.
Better Half, from the owners of Wright Bros. Brew and Brew, will be bringing light meals, coffee, beer, and a full bar to the 1203 W. Fifth St. space most recently occupied by local ridesharing app Ride Austin.
The Highland area is set to have more dining options with the opening of Brewtorium in the fall. The 6015 Dillard Cir. restaurant will have pub grub like pizza and bratwurst to go with owners Chris Rauschuber and Whitney Roberts’ brews.
Captain Quackenbush’s Coffeehouse and Bakery will try to recapture some of its late ’80s Drag vibes this fall by opening a larger space at 5326 Manchaca Rd., the former home of Strange Brew.
Colleen’s Kitchen in Mueller’s busy Aldrich Street District could be open as early as late fall. The project from Sean and Ashley Fric will bring Southern hospitality to the ‘hood.
Confituras Little Kitchen will have plenty of fresh biscuits, served with preserves from Stephanie McClenny’s essential jams and preserves line. The 2129 Goodrich Ave. space will also act as a culinary incubator for other chefs. Expect to also see their wares in the jewel box shop, opening in early fall.
Cookbook Cafe, the ELM Group concept that will draw its menu from the archives, is shooting to open October with the new Austin Central Library downtown, but can’t confirm yet. The project will include a full bar program, good news for those who prefer their Anna Karenina with a little bit of vodka.
Signs indicate that Cosmic Cafe and Beer at 121 Pickle Rd., the crowdfunded beer garden and food truck court that took over the space that Buzz Mill abandoned, is nearing completion.
Epoch continues its recent expansion by converting an old service station at 3900 Far West Blvd. into a third location (a fourth is planned in Plaza Saltillo). Expect pots to start brewing by mid-October.
The Fairmont Hotel, opening in late fall at 101 Red River St., will be a culinary wonderland of five projects, including wood-fired temple Garrison; food hall Revue (featuring a Italian, Pan-Asian, and a bakeshop concept); the Good Things coffee shop; and two bars, Fulton and Rules & Regs.
Fareground, the downtown food hall managed by ELM Group will feature Dai Due Taquería; Antonelli’s Cheese Shop; Easy Tiger Bake Shop; Ni-Komé sushi and ramen; Henbit and Honeybit, two concepts from Emmer & Rye’s Kevin Fink and Tavel Bristol-Joseph; and Contigo Fareground. The concept is still eyeing a late fall opening at 111 Congress Ave.
Home Slice will expand to a long-awaited second location at 501 E. 53rd St. by the end of fall. The new location will offer the same New York-style pies, plus new menu items and a full bar. Oh, and there’s plenty of parking.
We are looking for updates on Il Brutto, the New Waterloo Italian concept that was first slated to be open by summer at 1617 E. Sixth St.
Intero Ristorante, another entry into the Austin Italian race, will open in the Bud’s motorcycle building on 2612 E. Cesar Chavez St. in October. The project from former Vespaio chef Ian Thurwachter and his wife, Crave Chocolate’s Krystal Craig, will focus on snout-to-tail cooking.
Komé is renovating the Cash America Pawn building at 5301 Airport Blvd. to be their new location, with an October goal. The expanded dining room will have much the same menu, but the drinks will be revamped with the coming of a new liquor license.
Local, a new Austin location of a popular San Antonio coffee shop, will open in the Seaholm in early November, bringing with it pastries and desserts from Bakery Lorraine.
Houston import Peli Peli is taking over the shuttered Cantina Laredo space at 201 W. Third St. by the end of the year. Those who can’t wait for the restaurant’s South African fare can get a preview at this weekend’s ACL Festival.
Polvos, the long-running Tex-Mex joint, is taking over the old Prelog’s space in the 360 Tower for its third location. Although a sign is up, there’s no word on the exact opening date.
Casual East Austin eatery Revelry Kitchen & Bar (not to be confused with the Revelry event space that also hosts culinary happenings) will be opening a north location at 6215 N. Lamar Blvd. by late fall.
Green greens purveyor Snappy Salads is opening the first Austin location at 701 South Capital of Texas Highway any day now.
Soto, or at least something Soto-ish will be opening in Lamar Union any day now. Although the restaurant will not share the name of the Cedar Park original, some of that restaurant’s favorites will be making their way to the new menu.
Suerte, from former Odd Duck chef Sam Hellman-Mass, will draw inspiration from traditional Mexican cooking techniques. The 1800 E. Sixth St. location should be open for business in late fall.
TLC, a new comfort food concept from the owners of J. Blacks, will open in the possibly cursed Lamar Union development by the end of October.
After a long series of pop-up dinners, El Chile Group’s (El Chile, El Chilito, Alcomar, El Alma, and the recently-shuttered El Sapo) Peruvian restaurant and pisco bar Yuyo should open … sometime. A location has yet to be announced for the long-awaited concept.

Rhode Partners builds Austin's tallest skyscraper from cantilevered glass
Texas architecture firm Rhode Partners has built a 58-storey residential skyscraper in Austin, Texas, from stacked glass blocks angled around a central core.
Called The Independent, 688-foot-tall (212 metres) tower sits between Austin's Seaholm District and Shoal Creek.
The tower resembles stacked Jenga blocks
It is several feet taller than The Austonian, a 56-storey residential tower that completed in the Texan capital in 2010.
Rhode Partners described the new apartment building as a "vertical neighbourhood".
"As a new addition to the city's skyline, The Independent's striking silhouette represents the bold and innovative spirit of Austin," Rhode Partners told Dezeen.
A swimming pool is located on the 9th floor. Photo is by Patrick Wong
Four distinct glass blocks are stacked in a formation resembling a Jenga tower. Residential units are arranged to provide each level with a different view of the city.
"Each tier is slid and mirrored around a central core, creating an assortment of unit types and views," explained Rhode Partners.
The Independent has expansive city views. Photo is by Jason O'Rear
The tower's shape was informed by various site constraints, including an immovable utility line and a horizon protected by Austin's Capitol View Corridor.
An amenity deck on the 34th floor which cantilevers, or juts out, over the city. With floor-to-ceiling glass window walls, the deck has unobstructed 360-degree views of Austin.
Owing to an efficient HVAC system, the tower is able to function as net-energy-neutral for a significant portion of the year.
Other sustainable measures include a regenerative elevator system and interior spaces with reduced drywall that is achieved through the use of locally sourced fly-ash concrete.
Light wood lines interior spaces. Photo is by Jason O'Rear
The tower's various amenity rooms are finished in walnut and white oak, with commissioned artworks and other built-in furnishings that elevate what Rhode Partners described as "a condo project with museum-influenced design".
Founded in 2006 by Brett Rhode, Rhode Partners is an architecture and interior design office based in Austin, Texas.

Sell Your House Fast in Austin With these 15 Tricks to ATX Success
Maybe you daydream about leaving your small downtown condo for a luxurious home on the Colorado River. Or you could be looking to escape the stifling heat and thick humidity of an Austin summer all together.
Regardless of how you got to this decision, it's time to turn your vision into a reality and sell your house fast in Austin.
Before you begin the process, it's important to do your research. Understanding the current real estate market in Austin can give you better insight on the purchasing decisions of a buyer. It can also help you leverage your home during the selling process and help you sell your home faster Here's what you need to know.
Tumblr media
What Sellers Should Know About the Austin Real Estate Market
The Austin real estate market is booming and the demand is extremely favorable for sellers right now. Just in December, 802 homes were sold in the city of Austin, which is a 13 percent lift compared to December of last year.
The 3 percent sales growth in the past year and overall uptick in demand can be attributed to several factors:
Jobs in Austin
The music-centric, small-town city has exploded into a tech-hub. Austin was named the top Tech City in the world on Savill's Top Tech Cities of 2017, which was based on business environment, tech environment, city wellness, talent pool, and property costs. But it's not only ambitious entrepreneurs and small business owners running the job market in Austin. Apple, for example, built a 1.1 million dollar square foot campus just north of Austin; and Google recently acquired space in the downtown area where they house more than 450 Austin workers.
So why has this happened? Many companies both large and small are drawn to the cost of living and talent pool. The cost of living in Austin is far more favorable than other tech-cities like San Francisco. This means that larger tech companies and startup businesses have lower operational costs and can move faster when both starting and growing their business. Additionally, Texas doesn't have a state tax, which is extremely advantageous to big companies like Apple and Google. The local talent pool in Austin is also enticing for business owners. Hiring local talent is a cost-effective strategy for technology companies, so many try to establish grounds near prestigious universities.
This tech explosion has generated enormous job market growth which has enticed many people to venture to Austin. In 2016, Austin added 159 people per day on average largely because so many jobs were being added across sectors, principally in technology. Transplants moving to Austin are looking to buy a home fast, which is great for sellers. Living near commercial space or close to freeway access will help you sell your home quickly to these buyers.
Annual Income for Austin Residents
They say everything's bigger in Texas, and this is true when it comes to the salaries in Austin. The average annual income tends to be higher than the national average which is enticing for any prospective Austinites. As of now, the average salary in Austin is $55,228 compared to the national average of $44,128. On top of that, the annual cost of living is 4 percent lower compared to the US average, making it easier to save money.
Kiddy Condos
Austin flourishes with college students who need a place to live, and it's become more common for parents to buy a home for their child to occupy while at school. Thus, the term 'kiddie condos' was coined and has factored into the increase of housing demand. Kiddie condos are most prevalent around the UT campus, in neighborhoods West Campus or East Riverside. If you are selling a home in these neighborhoods, you will want to appeal to UT families and not tech-working transplants.
Many factors like these three mentioned bring people to this city, yet inventory for homes on the market remains tight, which can be opportunistic for sellers. Limited availability in Austin's popular market has increased home prices just in the past year. The median price for a single-family now resides at $359,150.00 in the city of Austin, which is a 3 percent increase from the previous year.

Standout Qualities That Will Sell Your Home Faster in Austin
Austin sellers have a clear advantage, but it takes more than a curating a listing when putting your home on the market. Based on the real estate market and other local Austin trends, here are three factors that will increase your housing price and help sell your home fast:
Proximity to work
If the home you're selling is in Rollingwood or Westlake Hills you're in luck. Based on the job market growth in Austin, it's clear many people are moving for their careers. Therefore, a homes that's closer to business districts will be favorable. Additionally, traffic has been a growing concern to Austin residents, making a home's location a top priority for buyers
Space and storage
Leonard says that “buyers place importance on maximizing storage and space” and it's often a huge concern for buyers when they walk through different homes. Austin buyers are more concerned with the size a home feels versus the actual square footage, which makes decluttering important.
Low maintenance interior
Contrary to granite countertops which are high maintenance and delicate, buyers are looking for a low maintenance home that is durable. Quartz countertops and wood tiles are two trends growing in the Austin area that will win over many potential buyers.
Capitalizing on all, or any, of these can attract a plethora of potential buyers and speed up the overall selling process.

Real Estate Experts Tell-All About How to Sell a House Fast in Austin
There is a lot that can be said about trends and data when it comes to selling a home in Austin. But the best advice comes from the experts who immerse themselves in the Austin real estate market on a daily basis. We spoke with Tausha Carlson and Kristee Leonard, two of the top real estate agents in Austin, TX, who gave us some expert tips about selling a home in Austin.
Do the brunt work upfront
Often times, sellers are eager to get their house on the market and will forgo essential renovations. This is one of the biggest mistakes a seller can make. Carlson says that “new listings get the most exposure so make sure your house is in optimal shape when you put it on the market.”
Declutter and optimize space
Buyers are incredibly visual and if they walk into a cluttered house, they have a hard time envisioning it as their own. Therefore, showcase the storage space in your home and make sure your layout feels open and expansive
Be mindful of your color scheme
Your overall interior design can subconsciously alter a buyer's decision when viewing your home. Leonard says that “light colors are popular right now, specifically white cabinets, clean white color schemes and white oak wood floors.” Combining a color scheme of nudes with”open farmhouse style plans, energy efficiency, smart homes” can actually have a psychological impact on someone's purchasing decision.
Showcase your outdoor area
Carlson says that “Austin buyers are asking for a great outdoor space” when looking for a home, meaning extending your living space outdoors can be extremely appealing. More people are transforming their outdoor area to include a full furniture set, smoker, and television to watch the Longhorns on a Saturday afternoon.
Promote your neighborhood's walkability
Leonard found that “walkability is important for many buyers” and is a surprising trend local to the Austin community. This makes it important for sellers to highlight parks, coffee shops and local restaurants in their neighborhood.
Some of the most walkable Austin neighborhoods include Downtown, West University, and the UT campus, so sellers living here should take advantage of this. If you're selling a house Downtown, local amenities that appeal to buyers include the Jo's Coffee, Waterloo Park, and Zilker Park just across the river. Local hotspots in West University include the Pease District Park the Shoal Creek Greenbelt for work out aficionados. Real estate around the UT campus appeals to the students because of class accessibility.
Promote additional space for lodging
Carlson said, “people are buying huge lots and building a second unit for rent. Buyers want unrestricted land and more flexibility” when buying a home. As Austin becomes more of a tourist destination, buyers are more interested in homes that have the space to add on and create Airbnb lodging or additional rental units. If you are selling a home with large square footage, leverage this!
Remain flexible
The staging and showing process of selling a home can feel drawn-out and exhausting. But remaining flexible is key.
For example, nearly everyone owns dogs in this community, so many Austin sellers struggle with keeping the house shed-free. While is sounds tedious, you'll want to vacuum the house daily thoroughly clean out your vents to eliminate any minor dog odors that might be luming. While the house is in the staging process, keep dog toys away permanently, and have food bowls out of the public eye. Should a surprise showing happen, have a plan to escape with your pooch to a park or dog-friendly establishment, like Austin Terrier, Abel's on the Lake, or Galaxy Cafe.
The bottom line? Don't make it difficult for a buyer to come view the place.

How an Austin Real Estate Agent Can Expedite the Selling Process
While this all sounds simple, Austin sellers run into a plethora hurdles that lead to irritation. Here are a just few examples sellers often have trouble with:
Target Market
The demographic for the Austin market is expansive, making it important to understand your neighborhood and go after the right kind of buyer. Sellers living in neighborhoods around campus target students or buyers wanting to invest in kiddie condos for their child while attending school. Sellers in the Seaholm district near downtown should be targeting tech-transplants that might be recently hired at Google.
The NIMBY culture
While most markets have seen a subtle switch to YIMBY housing policies, Austin locals continue to resist the rapid changes and vow to keep Austin weird. This concept promotes keeping Austin local and not allowing it to be swallowed by big businesses. Many Austin residents want to continue to have local art on their streets and small corner coffee shops continue to thrive. Because people supporting this movement are resistant to development changes, sellers sometimes find it difficult to make any major renovations on their homes before putting it on the market.
Real estate agents in Austin can help navigate through these nuances that you might not otherwise discover until you're swamped in the process. Their organization efficiencies and marketing expertise can set you on a timely path to a profitable sale of your Austin home.

We have encountered the article involving tree care below on the net and felt it made sense to discuss it with you on my blog.
Helpful Facts On Smart tree experts Programs
Learn How To Trim Residential Trees Many people have been teaching themselves to conserve the health of the trees! From planting to mulching plus everything in between, folk have really started to train their green thumbs. Yet in regards to tree trimming, it is best to have some pointers before you begin using pruning equipment. After all, one wrong move and you will kiss the tree bye bye! This is what you need to understand regarding effective DIY tree-trimming: Think About Safety Before you get started, it is important to defend against injury, even when you are trimming a little tree. Remember to always wear your own pair of goggles (that will prevent splinters from getting into the eyes), sturdy pruning gloves and a helmet. Also, make certain that the ladders you use are sturdy plus firmly rooted on the ground, or else you could seriously hurt yourself from a fall. Since of course, your best tree trimming labors may go to waste should you find yourself in the hospital! The Secret is In Your Cut When clipping, do not cut a branch too tightly to the trunk of the tree; a risky move like this may backfire, as healthy bark might be torn from the base of the tree when the limb is removed. Then again, you really do not want to leave a lot of the dead branch behind. Look for a happy medium by trimming at the collar of the limb, which will leave a bit of a stump. Know When To Trim Many landscaping experts and arborists acknowledge that you could trim most trees anytime. There are some types of trees in addition to fruit trees that you may prefer to trim in the autumn months, however, most trees can be trimmed anytime of the year. Do Not Take on Large Sections You need to know when to contact a professional if the job is too big, so if you are thinking about coping with any big limbs yourself, set down the equipment and back away. Large limbs should be extracted by a professional, so ask the arborist to take care of these bigger and more hazardous tasks.

Austin Day One
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With two days in Austin, we wanted to tick off as many sights as possible.  We decided to split the city into two – north of the river, and south – day one being our northern adventure.
Before we flew out, the weather looked really promising – beautiful sunshine and a not-too-hot 25ºC.  We packed t-shirts, sunglasses, and plenty of SPF for me.
What a waste of time that was, because the…
