no because so often when i replay/rewatch a lot of the trilogy cases i just think to dahlia's words of "honestly, how can any woman ever count on you for anything??", & how phoneix has often felt like he's failed the women in his life from the very start of the trilogy: mia, maya, ema, lana, maggey, pearl, iris... (& god there's just a spread of more feys to disappoint, ain't there, even if the relation wasn't apparent to him until the end). a woman resented his undependability so much she wanted to kill him, & frame him for murder when poisoning failed as an option. two & a half years later mia is killed & her sister gets put on trial as a suspect, a situation that might or might not have been avoided altogether if phoenix had just been on time. i need to lie down.

Sure can!

Undertale Sans - Sans is the one who sneaked the annoying dog into the house Underground. He figured that when Papyrus is a little sad, the dog always managed to cheer him up, or, well, annoy him enough so he doesn't think about what's making him sad anymore.

Undertale Papyrus - When Undyne and Alphys had their first kid, Papyrus played the nanny so they could both sleep the first night as he could see they were both really exhausted. He ends up being the child's godfather as well and he would die for his niece/nephew.

Underswap Sans - He participated in a beauty contest for fun with Alphys in the first month he reached the Surface and won. He's still sleeping with his trophy to this day, he's actually very proud of it (mostly because Alphys didn't win anything and her jealous face will not make him laugh).

Underswap Papyrus - He didn't know how to swim and so he was sad when he found himself all alone during the first monster trip to the beach while everyone was having fun. So Asgore picked him up and carried him on his back so he could enjoy the sea like the others. He even taught him the basics in a swimming pool when they got home and Honey is so thankful for it as he discovered he actually really likes that.

Underfell Sans - He couldn't be a dinosaur kid Underground, but I can promise you that the second he got on the Surface, he fell madly in love with the giant reptiles to the point of squealing in joy every time he saw a toy representing a dinosaur he doesn't have. He has a very impressive collection of them now. Edge took him to a dinosaur museum for his birthday. After that, it became impossible to make Red shut up for two months. It's still his favorite place on Earth and he's going there at least once a month.

Underfell Papyrus - That time, completely drunk, when he confessed to Undyne that she was his best friend and that he didn't know what he'd do without her. Of course, the next morning, the face entirely red, he screamed at her she imagined the whole thing and to leave him alone, despite her recording of the scene on her phone. But yeah, he turns a lot softer once drunk and Undyne is so amused by this that she's going to torment him for two months.

Horrortale Sans - Since Toriel's eyesight became pretty terrible over the years, once a week, Oak comes to her place to read books to her. It's a nice routine they have from Underground after he got his skull smashed as reading was helping Oak's memory. He struggled on a lot of words and she helped him through his lecture. Now he's doing it only to entertain her, mainly because it hurts him so much to notice Toriel is aging. She became his whole world through the years and he's not sure he could bear losing her. So he cherishes any small moment he has with her.

Horrortale Papyrus - He's working as a volunteer in an old people retirement home and even if he's not supposed to, he loves taking the three old ladies he's taking care of to the movie theater or to the restaurant just so they can have fun for a few hours. They're all acting like they're on a super secret mission and it's always a nice time. He kidnapped them next Gyftmas to celebrate at his place because no one should be without a family at that time.

Swapfell Sans - He loves being massaged to the point he becomes completely limp in his S/O's arms. It's actually one of the very rare moments you'll see him fully relaxed and/or deep asleep, as Nox usually never lowers his guard. That pretty much means he feels very safe around you, which is literally a confession that he trusts you with his life. You're a lucky one.

Swapfell Papyrus - The first time Nox took him to an attraction park once they arrived on the Surface is where Rus actually called him brother again for the first time in almost twenty years. Now that's something they do every year, to remind each other that despite everything that happened, they're still here for each other. Rus can tell it's Nox's way to apologize for the childhood Rus never really had and he's actually glad. Even though it's also a good excuse to get his revenge once a year by dragging his brother to a fantom train just to watch him scream with terror the whole time, without being able to complain because Rus will guilt-trip him otherwise lmao.

Fellswap Gold Sans - He tried makeup for the first time on the Surface and now he has a little bit of an addiction on his hands. He can spend hours in the cosmetics shops, just trying everything to see what looks good on him. He's actually so known in these shops the seller usually keeps all the new things in a corner so he can try them when he comes.

Fellswap Gold Papyrus - Since he doesn't like to talk to the seller in the shops, he usually sends his brother or his S/O to buy things for him. But since they often mess up and don't pick what he wants, now he's coming along, just hiding behind them and silently pointing at the things he wants with puppy eyes. Now that he has a little more confidence he's just doing it with anything he wants and that is not planned. Just staring intensely so someone notices him and buys it lol. He's poor, please say yes :(

Over and Over Again

Hello people. I’ve literally never posted on tumblr before, but I really really wanted to because I had this Spencer Reid idea. This sucks, and if you have any critic or advice for me, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I hope you like it. There’s no warnings, besides a storm, maybe? Again, never posted before, yes, the banner is huge. I know. I do not know how to fix these things. I’m yapping.

ANYWAYS: this blurb was written based off of the song Would You Fall in Love with Me Again from EPIC (dog, listen to it, it’s the best musical ever). Loosely based, really. I hope you love it.

“I’ve changed,” he insisted. He persistently insisted, pacing his living room floor, expertly dodging books left face-open on the floor , words subject to dim lighting above them, watching like a crowded theater as he stood before her, laying himself bare. He wasn’t a man anymore— couldn’t she see that? He was a monster.

She watched him with wrinkled brows, mentally undoing the puzzle she’d spent all of her time knowing him trying to solve. She couldn’t understand it. Why did he think he had any right to tell her this? She knew he changed, it was obvious, it was natural, considering what happened. Yet, he spoke of his shift in demeanor as if it wasn’t obvious, as if she wasn’t aware of the yellow warning signs flashing by her as she drove down the road, speedometer reaching unsafe levels, but she couldn’t stop. She didn’t want to.

Stepping forward, toes catching against the corners of his precious literature now tossed aside in the face of his internal storm, she caught him by his wrists, stopping him. “Spencer—“

The words burst from his mouth, drowning her out. “I’m not the man you fell in love with. What I did in there?”

Despite his insistence, his hands slid down, entwining their fingers together and holding tightly, too afraid to let go, too desperate to cling to a lifeline suddenly cast toward him, a precious lifeboat of brilliant orange in a raging sea, waves of resistance keeping him at bay.

“What I did in there… it’s not… you have to understand. I did what I had to do—“

“Then that makes you more man than monster— that makes you human. You lived— the human instinct is to live— stop trying to… to dissuade me! Spencer, I—“

“Please—“

The desperation sat heavily in his eyes, glimpses of a lake hidden deep within a dark forest, a glimpse of heavenly seas of emerald spoke of in Revelations. They flickered, flashing between adoration and aggravation, desperation and deprivation. Duty and desire warred inside his mind, a voice near the back of his mind reminding him of his sins, of his transgressions. She didn’t need that. She needed clean cut and safety. How could she find wealth of any kind with him?

Electricity crackled between them, rolling like the breaching thunder outside of his apartment.

He didn’t believe in fate. He didn’t believe in destiny or signs, but this? This seemed to perfectly concocted. If there was a God, He was making his opinion known of the situation inside of Spencer’s apartment, expressing his vehement hatred of the private world they’d come to build together. He would tear it down if Spencer didn’t first.

Her eyes flashed to the window, and snapped back to him, mirroring his desperation; destruction; adoration; anger. She held his hands tighter, nails digging into the flesh of his knuckles. The singe of pain was needed, it tied him to her, fed his selfish desires to have her, to keep her inside of him, tucked securely into the empty cavity of his chest.

Her voice was a rasp as she seemed to beg, all but falling to her knees to clutch to his pant leg and sob like a child. “‘*Please*’. You keep saying ‘please’. Stop saying that!” She exclaimed, holding his hands tighter. Her body felt rigid, tense with all of the emotions tightly wound inside of her, aching to be let free in a cacophony of rage, explosion of lust, a torrent of emotions. “Spencer, I love you! I will fall in love with you over and over again, and I don’t care what you did. I don’t care who you hurt— do you think I haven’t hurt people, too?”

“Not like I have,” he attempted to intervene, and she quickly shushed him.

“What you have done in moments of desperation doesn’t matter to me!… Okay, it does. It matters to me because I… you’re here with me. You’re with me, holding my hands, telling me not to love you— but you told me I was the only thing keeping you sane. My letters were your anchor. Was that not true?”

His silence was answer enough. The thin press of his rose lips told her everything she needed to know. With a grating strength, she released his wrist, and drew her hand to his face. His stubble tickled her palm as she cupped his jaw, watched him lean into her touch like a sunflower towards the sun.

“Stop fighting me,” she whimpered. Her voice had lost it’s strength, but not it’s conviction. “Stop trying to keep me away from you… If I wanted to leave you, if I believed, truly believed you were a monster… I wouldn’t be here, would I?”

He looked so tired. When he smiled it was torn. This wasn’t the same man as before, but it was Spencer. Spencer fucking Reid, and she’d be damned if she didn’t love him just as much; maybe more.

“I love you,” she whispered, her voice thick with tears she hadn’t realized began spilling over her cheeks, collecting at her jaw and running down her neck in hot rivulets.

His pupils swelled at the sight.

Her words began to snowball, as did her volume as it rose and rose with every word, her strength returning under the clear dilation of his pupils; a solid tell he was just as affected as her. “And I won’t stop loving you, because you will always be the man I fell in love with. No matter what you’ve done, where you’ve been— damnit, Spencer—!“

His head dipped forward suddenly, lips catching hers in a powerful press of lips that she’d yearned for since he first delivered her a smile that broke through clouds over her head, offered one of his relentless facts of seemingly infinite wisdom that drew her deeper into this… well of adoration she’d fallen headfirst into.

Heat blossomed at the base of her spine, racing up her back to leave her lightheaded as she fell into him, hands falling to loosely clutch his shirt. His arms wound around her waist to capture her weak form, clutching her to him, his fingers curled into her shirt, wrinkling the fabric.

His lips perused hers with a desperate leisure, a slow hunger that threatened to tear him limb from limb. His seams were already loosened, and she was tugging, whether she knew it or not.

Pulling back reluctantly, he breathed heavily against her mouth. Bursts of moist, warm air hit her skin. She felt it curl around her cheeks, sink into her ears, her temporal lobe soaking in the lingering tingle of his lips on hers, leaving her drunk.

“I love you,” he whispered to her, his voice barely audible over the rain slamming against the windows of his living room. He had forgotten about God’s wrath looming outside of his windows.

She laughed softly, her voice still hiccuping around her steadily falling tears. “Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you to say that?”

He smiled, a genuine, full smile of exuberant happiness. “Too long.”

Angst that turns into fluff

You had bought a binder without your parent’s permission, and had been keeping it in the dressing room for the show. It was opening night, and you were playing a male character. Nothing could go wrong. You felt the adrenaline pumping, you were shaking out of excitement, then you remembered, your parents would be in the crowd that night.

Your chest starts heaving. Your vision blurs after it darts around. You land on the ground, backing into a set piece and hiding behind it. The happy shaking turns to terror induced shaking.

Your director yells out “5 minutes before show people!” Before noticing you. Oh Ms. Emily. She was so incredibly supportive. She gasps as she notices you, since you startled her with your heavy breathing.

She shuffles out onto stage, taking center and facing the audience.

“We have a small problem backstage. The show will be held back a few minutes, I am very sorry for this inconvenience.”

SMALL????

This was not small. Your world was closing in on you. It felt like Jell-O or Oobleck was being poured over you, or you were being cemented into a wall against your will. The binder only made it worse. It tightened around your armpits and sucked in your chest, which made the caving feeling worse. You fiddled with your costume before throwing off the excess pieces.

You barely notice the tall stature coming into view before you’re pulled out of deep water by two costumed hands.

“Hey, hey, im here, it’s me. It’s Simon. What’s wrong, can you say it or is it too much to talk about?” He gently utters, kneeling closer to you.

You barely babble out, “‘s too much..” Before your vision starts to go in and out. He notices. You’re swaying too much for it to be your normal rocking. He latches his hands onto you and pulls you into his chest, like a life raft after drowning at sea for centuries.

“I’m right here. It’s okay. Your parents won’t even notice. You can tell them that it was a casting issue, and you were just cast because of how they liked your auditions performance, alright?” He whispers, rubbing your back very gently.

“I gotcha. I gotcha.” He mutters, holding you closer to him. It feels like this hold is meant for a wounded dog, not a 17 year old gir-boy.

He cups your face like he would a wounded pigeon. He’s got eyeliner on. Specifically on his waterline. His cheeks are dusted with powdered blush. His arms are covered in black cloth, specifically for his role as a Crow. The entire show was written by you, only taken up by Ms. Emily and practically blocked by you in its entirety. You played Satans Cat. (Two little city animals who are a contrast difference to eachother go on a journey that changed them forever, or smth. Idk. Sleepy.) He wore big wings with straps on his thumbs to keep in place. You wore cat ears and a tail. You felt so good in your costume. You had many costume pieces to hide your chest, and you just looked so boyish all around.

“You alright now?” He asks, tone in his voice evident he’s trying to hide the fact he noticed you glancing for a prolonged period of time.

“Yea. I’ve got some time..I’ll go splash my face with water.”

“You’ll be alright, Felid.”

“That I will be, Corvus.”

Hatty headcanons!! :3

- I imagine him to be around his early 30s! I have a specific timeline regarding his age, but when I typically draw him — he's 31.

- French + Brit !! He grew up in France for the majority of his childhood, then came to the states. Which also leads to me thinking he speaks French and English :>

- After the theater, he gets heavily triggered by orange cats. he will freeze up and start to dissociate unless properly comforted/if the cats are removed

- I ACTUALLY FIRMLY BELIEVED HE HAD A HAT!! he had a hat from being captain :)) I draw it from time to time and give him his own special little symbol. I don't think he wore it often, but he had it!!

- Hes got fucked up teeth HAHAHA. I'm sure this is obvious with how I draw him, but he has snaggleteeth + a few missing ones. possibly stained teeth aswell from smoking :3

- CHUBBY!! I don't have much else to say on this part. fatty fattington propaganda oooo /j

- his captain's uniform is so fucking grimy, he may LOOK proper, but that blazer reeks of sea salt and sweat from all that blue collar work.

- He's a solid 6 feet tall! He's one of the tallest in his family. Key word, one of... Reginald is 6'2 and dogs on him for this (despite them both being INCREDIBLY tall)

- He loves blueberry pie :3

- He's got green eyes! I think this shifted after the hats possession, making them red.. but when he's in the castle crashers era, they're more brown/hazel from the red and green clashing together.

- Hatty has a huge soft spot for dogs. He knows an awful lot about them aswell!!

- This honestly goes for most of the shape-heads but..whatever *shrug* . Hatty’s general skin is ever-so-slightly fuzzy! It's pretty much just peach fuzz all over.

- Rough and dry hands from ship work.

- Worked as a butcher in his teens! He mainly worked with the fish — which now helps alot for when they catch fish and cook it :)

- Great cook! Terrible baker.

- Can fuck up the piano like no other aswell as the accordion.

- Always, Always warm. For a man who's constantly at the cold sea, he's like a damn radiator.

Peter Gerety

Physique: Husky Build Height: 5'6½" (1.69 m)

Peter Gerety (May 17, 1940 -) is an American actor, best known for his multi-season portrayal of Detective Stuart Gharty on the cop drama Homicide: Life on the Street. He also played the recurring role of Judge Daniel Phelan on another Baltimore-set crime series, The Wire. He had substantial recurring roles on Public Morals, before another series regular role, playing the patriarch on the sitcom Sneaky Pete. Big-screen projects include Sleepers (1996), Charlie Wilson’s War (2007), Leatherheads (2008) and Public Enemies (2009).

One of the countless, nameless character actors that I've seen over the years and don't give them a second look. Then one day, the imaginary switch is flipped and I wanna fuck them. He fits my template for guys I like. Compact, slightly rotund and occasionally scruffy character actor with a domineering and imposing presence. Been in lust with Gerety since Homicide: Life on the Street.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Gerety found acting while he was a student at Boston University and soon began appearing in local theater. He quickly progressed to work on the stages of New York and the screen.

A few things I found out about his personal life is: He has been married to Natalie Burton since November 27, 2000. He has at least one child and two grandkids. He has a few small dogs a loves theatre work. Mmm… my gay sense is tingling. So Gerety is most likely straight, but he works in the theatre so I can live in hope.

Veles from Slavic mythology He's the god of the underworld, waters, and magic. Veles often crosses between the realms of the living and the dead, making him a classic liminal deity. He's also associated with cattle, wealth, and poetry, which adds even more layers to his role.

Ellegua from Yoruba mythology, often worshipped in Santería and other Afro-Caribbean religions. He's the orisha of the crossroads, communication, and doors. Ellegua is known for being a trickster and a protector, and he plays a crucial role in opening and closing pathways between the human and spiritual worlds.

Anansi from African mythology, the trickster and storyteller who often moves between worlds.

Inari from Japanese mythology, a deity of rice, fertility, and foxes, who bridges the human and spiritual realms.

So what are the roles that the zodiacs play in the lmk show

I was gonna respond in pictures, but that’d take a REALLY long time to answer this, so I’ll try writing it out instead! Hopefully we all get the same idea..

Basically! My idea of Zodiacs are like Greek gods, just below the power of Sun WuKong and the Jade Emperor. Their role to play is to keep the world turning, each of them has a task to either change the weather or categorize events of the past(present, future etc.) They can do this because of a special relic the Jade Emperor has given them each.

Only those with good intensions can use them right. Those with negative energy, or bad intentions, will render the artifacts useless, or highly dangerous.

• Shǔ (Rat Zodiac) - Pipa - Stringing this zodiac’s instrument will bring Creativity in people’s minds. That being poetry, music, and/or art. Stringing it too much, will give people too many ideas, or really BAD ideas.

• Niú Léi (Ox Zodiax) - Manchu Bow - With pulling this bow, an arrow of thunder will reveal itself. Releasing this arrow, it’ll bring its location thunder, rain and lightning. The Bow will shrink or grow depending on the users height. Upon negative use, the arrows will bring terrifying storms in its location.

• Wǔshi hǔ (Tiger Zodiac) - Lion Dance Head - The reflective mirror on the lions head deflects a foes attack. Protecting the user, and whomever the user protects. It gives people the courage to stand up for themselves and others. The Head will remain useless if one of negative intentions uses it.

• Bèike Tù (Rabbit Zodiac) - WIP - Wanted to something related with harvest, or bread. She works in a bakery with another oc of mine.

• Ehecatl (Dragon Zodiac) - Bells of Wind Chimes - With ringing the Bells, the sound of Wind Chimes summon winds. Ehecatl is able to direct the clouds of winds to move the trees and seeds. With immoral use, the winds can become tornadoes or fiercer winds.

• Shǔi Ma (Horse Zodiac) - Lantern of the Sea - The Lantern controls the tides and currents of the sea. Giving each a direction on the control of the Lanterns flame. Upon holding it, the Lantern can give the wielder grace on walking the surface of water or sea. With Negative use, the Lantern can create whirlpools, storms in the sea, or water spouts.

• Qiao Rong (Snake Zodiac) - Writing Brush - The writing brush can write events of the past, present or future. Qiao Rong has a Library of Scrolls with information of times of old, new or current. With negative energy, the words of the scrolls will recreate events of what’s written in memory.

• Xiezhi (Goat Zodiac) - Wine Cup - The cup can turn wine into fumes of relaxation or sleep. Anxiety will wash worries away and leave the drinker asleep or settled either upon smelling, or drinking it. With negative morals, the cup of drink will heighten your worries, or drive you to theater play.

• Dú Ké (Monkey Zodiac) - Paixiao - With blowing into this instrument, Dookie is able to travel through different dimensions with ease. This device can also amp up the Monkey Zodiac’s speed immensely! This instrument is what makes him a good messenger and traveler. With negative use, the instrument is just a simple Paixiao, maybe perhaps will make the user slower.

• Ronan (Rooster Zodiac) - Hairpin - The hairpin gives a boost to all senses, enhancing sensitivity and a kickstart of adrenaline upon handling. If handled with ill intention, the hairpin forsakes the user with the opposite effects; demoralization, heavy slowness, and hindrance to the individual's best special sense.

• Júrēn (Pig Zodiac) - Hammer x Axe - An Axe with the Hammer back end of the blade. Júrēn uses the hammer end to construct mountains of cold, and his axe to cut the clouds to make snow and ice fall. Upon negative use, the axe becomes a weapon to cut off the top of mountains and the hammer to strike the tops to make volcanos erupt. But for now, Júrēn pushes a crank to keep the solar system running. One full turn is a full day of orbit. Only two others are able to crank this machine other than the Pig.

Each zodiac can use elements to talk to other people. They can use their elements to grow in size as well. The zodiacs reset every Cycle. New species of the same animal become the ones to be the zodiac. But due to MK not resetting the cycle, the zodiacs haven’t reset. Causing problems in the zodiac world as well.

AOT characters and what you'd do for Valentines Day

Erwin - Fancy night out. You're both dressing up for dinner reservations Erwin made months ago. He loves showing you off.

Levi - Private night in. Levi loves having you to himself. Dinner at home, movie at home, both of you together. Perfect.

Miche - Volunteering. Big guy has a heart of gold. You spend the day reading to kids at the library and adopting walking shelter dogs.

Hange - Sky diving. You're both up for adventure! The excitement and adrenaline hits hard and somehow it's very bonding.

Eren - Movies. This could be movies at home or movies at a theater. Either way there are snacks and probably a little kissing.

Armin - Aquarium. Viewing sea life up close. You do the animal encounters like feeding stingrays and meeting the sea otters!

Mikasa - Play/musical. A little dress up and holding hands in the dark, sharing laughs and smiles while watching a show.

Jean - Stargazing. A blanket and drinks are packed. He points out specific romantic constellations and you see a shooting star.

Connie - Escape Room. Romantic? Sure. Fun? YES. You team up with other couples and made it out in time, all going out for drinks after.

Sasha - Breakfast in bed. Today she is spoiling you, and a large breakfast is first up. It's cleaned up for a nap, then lunch is next!

Historia - Dance class. From learning proper hold for a waltz to the energetic cha cha to doing spins for swing, you have a great time.

Ymir - Rock climbing. She'll cheer you on as you go first. Chances are you share a moment at the top, or when you come back down.

Annie - Dinning cruise. A quiet-ish romantic evening on the water. Dinner, nice scenery, and some entertainment, if you want to dance.

Reiner - Painting class. You get to paint something for each other. It's guided so will come out just fine even if you don't think you're artistic.

Pieck - Botanical Gardens. A nice afternoon of walking through pathways of flowers, trees and ponds. Butterfly garden is a bonus.

Porco - Beach sunset. A large blanket and a cooler for drinks and snacks. Wear your bathing suit, cause you're going for a swim too.

Niccolo - Outdoor picnic. A shady spot under a tree with the radio playing love songs and dishes you and Niccolo made yourselves.

Colt - Carnival. Rides, games and food. You hold hands on the ferris wheel, he wins you a stuffed animal and you get churros and donuts.

Lots and lots of notes and thoughts and details about my 2024 vids, writing recs and trying to write about the vidding process. All beneath the readmore. These are the same questions I've been answering (more or less*) since 2007. 🤯 !! *I've dropped a few q's from the original meme over the years since they just didn't work for me. But it's 95% the same questions Since The Beginning, aha.

Overall thoughts:

This year I only finished 8 vids and I think I only have one WIP that I started in 2024 that I did not finish and it’s 90% finished so I might try to get that done before Festivids drops at the end of the month.

I spent a significant amount of time thinking about recs and writing recs. My vidding communities originated on journal platforms and the fractured nature of fandom spaces these days means there’s a lot of amazing things people have no idea exists, or they get recced behind discord walled gardens or at online cons. Or vids are passing under the tumblr radar because, as many vidders themselves have noted, tumblr is a very difficult platform for visibility/engagement for fanvids.

I get a lot out of watching vids in discord/con group watches but I really wanted to get back to writing/sharing recs. Cause these are really cool fanworks.

I also spent a lot of time thinking about my vidding process. This year I had a great desire to try and share about what I’ve learned and how I’ve engaged with this creative act, and how it’s been an enduring hobby for me for…18 years. Fuck. That meant I wrote a primer about the vidding process, I started archiving previous things I’ve written about vidding on tumblr. I’ve also started rummaging livejournal/dreamwidth to archive other things I’ve presented at cons and in interviews/community spaces about vidding.

Also trying to (slowly) archive my old vids on AO3. Not everything is on YouTube because of copyright or the source material has nudity/some other obscenity, so my pinned post in my dreamwidth remains the most complete list of my fanvids over the years. For now.

Final vid breakdown:

I made 8 vids. 5 of them were different sources. 3 vids were The Witcher Netflix, 2 vids were Shadow and Bone. Two films (Stigmata and Monkey Man). And a Festivid for the Mike Flanagan show The Fall of the House of Usher. 50% of my vids were ensemble pieces. 90% of these vids I finished in a month, two months at most.

Vidding Process notes:

My biggest hurdle was burnout and my inability to work on my old WIPs that I have been gnashing my teeth to work on and even rewatched the source for and got excited to work on again but didn’t manage to get any traction on them. But also I focused a lot of effort on writing recs and talking about my vidding process, which I think was a good use of the working brain I had left.

The Witcher Netflix remains my favorite thing to be vidding at the moment. I’m vidding so close to the source, so close to my fannishness about the the source, the various witcher canons, and the fandom. Those vids are probably less readable to those who aren’t into the show/fandom, but I fucking adore vidding this show.

Favorite Vid:

Dead of Night - My Witcher Netflix Yennefer/Thanedd vid of intrigue. I love the actress who plays Yennefer, and I really reallllly loved working on this. The feeling of when the verses and choruses were coming together was fannish euphoria. Dopamine of the highest degree.

Hardest to make:

None of these vids were hard to make. Which is something I’ve rarely been able to say when it comes to my vids. The hardest thing I encountered this year was my inertia. I’ve been so burnt out and dealing with job hunting fuckery and a toxic workplace that I just didn’t have the brain to start or work on anything that would be challenging me. I needed fun and frictionless this year, and that’s what I made for myself.

Most successful:

Dirty - Shadow and Bone Crows ensemble. I made this as a premiere for VidUKon. It went over SO WELL and I was elated to watch the chat stream by with cheers and to see some recs and comments come in on it. I let myself play a little with some After Effects transitions I had bought many years ago since I thought the song would greatly benefit from that kind of snappy slick editing. It was a lot of fun and the song went over really well with the audience, too.

My best vid:

These are all my best vids. Every year I feel more confident in what I’m making and how I’m making a vid. If I were to think about what an audience might say might be my best vid - it would either be Dirty/Crows ensemble vid or my Losing My Religion Witcher Ensemble+Ciri vid due to how well I nailed a specific tone and emotional atmosphere.

When it comes to technical/structural best I would say that would be Bones, my Fall Of House of Usher vid. That’s an ensemble vid with something like 9 fucking characters and it was so much to try and cram into a single vid. I framed the vid by beginning with the ending of the show and ended it with the ending of the flashback with Roderick and Madeline. The first Bridge/chorus I did a brief overview of the Usher family and the intrigue/deal with the Angel of Death. Then each verse I introduced two Usher siblings, and then introduced two more and kept stringing the Usher Horribleness along the timeline until it just kept Escalating. It was so much fun. This is the type of vid that is probably most appreciated to watch just after you watch the show when the source material is so fresh in your mind.

Most fun vid:

You’re Gonna go Far Kid, a super niche Witcher Netflix vid. This is not a fun subject, but it was fun to finally come up with a song for an idea that I wanted to do since the summer. This is the type of vid that will probably only make the most sense to people who have read both the books and are fans of the show because it’s a wry commentary about Netflix’s adaptation choices and how it really just…fell flat. My vid notes about this are longer than the actual vid and I rambled even more in the comments to mayoho about it. It’s fun but it’s also ridiculous and really made for that audience of like 4 people. Heh.

Favorite vid moments:

Dead of Night - 3:18-3:48 - Fighting and dancing and fucking. The choreography of this makes my soul vibrate. 🔥🔥🔥

Wobble - 2:08 - 2:18 - This action sequence makes me fucking cackle so fucking much. So much. I love it so much. I also love everything else in this vid, too.

And the entirety of Losing My Religion is my favorite vid moment.

Things I learned in 2024:

I learned it’s possible for me to set up structure to write and post/share vid recs. I also learned that I have quite a lot to say about vidding. I didn’t manage to work on or share anything about song choice (I started writing something for the vidding zine and didn’t get far because brain squish blahs) but I’m also quite happy with how well my vid recs and vid meta was received this year. I wasn’t sure about it when I started working on those projects but it was really gratifying to see folks were interested in what I had to say and share

I also had some revelations about what it is about songs that make my brain tick. Also I realized how my finished vids definitely reflect that “holy shit two cakes” meme you see floating around fic spaces. I’ve made the same exact vid several times and I’ve even been able to freak out (happily and incredulously) when I’ve been able to pin down my vidding style because of that.

I also am still coming to terms with letting go of vid WIPs while also still wanting to figure out how to hack my brain to get the motivation back because I genuinely am excited and want to be working on those vids.

I also learned that I am not going to get tired of vidding The Witcher Netflix and that’s probably not going to change for awhile.

In 2025:

Every year I have ambitious plans that inevitably get derailed. I say as much every year in this meme (go ahead and click thru previous years). The past two years I’ve been in burnout and my health woes are wearing me down in new ways so it’s been a struggle. I need to be less ambitious. But that doesn’t mean I can’t daydream and…have desires. Intentions, maybe. This is all with a grain of salt, right. I want to write more vidding process stuff but that's still ambiguous in my head.

And for the past 3 or so years I keep saying I’ve been wanting to work on my Moonhaven and my Green Knight vids. I’m still not ready to let those fall into my never-finish WIP pile. It’s been strange that I can’t seem to let these two go when I’ve been able to let go of other vid WIPs. So I want to figure out what this hangnail is in my brain about these vids are. Would be a dream to finish them.. I want to write more about my vidding process - and hope that others might find it interesting if I were to actually try and get out all these sticky intuitive things in my head and articulate them.

I want to write more vid recs in 2025, and possibly ping the vidding discord and Fan Tech discord for ideas to make vid rec templates/setting up automations for sharing recs more easily across platforms. I have so many ideas but also I keep spiralling out into burnout. I have at least 2 more Saturday Morning Vid Rec themes that I have vids for I just need to finish writing/formatting. And I want to do another round of Festivid Recs for the 2024 collection that will go live at the end of the month.

I want to continue archiving my old vids on AO3 and maybe remember to crosspost here on my main blog or my @kuwdoravids sideblog, and probably set up some automating crossposting to bluesky.

As for vid ideas. I have so many. I also think I need to set myself up wtih a combination of “vids that are going to be fun and easy to work on” and make sure I have myself set up with clipping so I can just ease right into it when I need the dopamine boost. But I also have a growing desire to finally work on some more challenging vid ideas that I’ve had brewing for awhile.

Some Vid Ideas for 2025:

Captain Janeway Kuwdora Thesis Statement Vid - I discovered my Janeway vidsong in 2019 and it’s been 6 years of rewatching and fannishly meditating on this vid. It might be time to embark upon this. The last time I spent this much time Actively Contemplating for a vid was for High Voltage and…this would be a similar type of Great Character Scope. Huge project though. I have DVDs to rip and 20+ episode seasons to trawl through and clip. But the end result… nobody would be ready. Maybe this year?… maybe.

Interview with a Vampire. There’s only two seasons here but during VidUKon @sandalwoodbox gave a panel presentation on audio editing and the season 2 finale was airing that weekend. My brain just had a cataclysmic idea. Not just an idea. An Idea. Something that would focus on POV and memory / unreliable narrators. This vid concept would be outside my wheelhouse because of the song / audio editing involved. Which is something I haven’t done before (or at least to this specific extent). So it’s scary and new in a way and I think might be really refreshing challenge for me to try.

Sydney Character Vid - The Bear. I’ve rewatched this show like 4 times already and I adore Sydney. I meant to make this vid in 2024 but just didn’t get to it. I have a song, I have the love. I just need to sit down and grind through the clipping process.

Black Sails/Andor. This might be a great vid for WisCon VidParty, and it’s something I’ve been wanting to make for a few years now. Andor season 2 is coming out at some point but I think I could make it without the second season.

Foundation - I have two Foundation vid ideas I keep bouncing around with. I adore the visuals and the actor’s performances so fucking much, and I’m obsessed with Salvor and Gaal. This is something I’m really keen on and am most likely to start and finish since it’s limited source and a relatively contained concept (while one vid would also a tribute to one of my favorite vidders that inspired me when I first started vidding). Also a good idea for WisCon Vid Party if that happens this year.

Now looking back on this list that I’m writing on January 1st 2025 will be fun because odds are I’m going to pop out another 4 Witcher vids and probably hiccup out three impulsive festivid treats that I didn’t think I’d make, lol. I mean I’ll make Witcher vids regardless, I’m just wanting to dream about my other vid ideas for now.
