Featuring over 50 beers, available for a limited time, the BC Ale Trail invites you to support breweries in British Columbia.
Press Release
image Copyright © Townsite Brewery 2021 All rights reserved.
… Vancouver, BC: As the nights get colder and darker, so too do the unique and boutique beers produced by craft brew crews throughout BC that conjure up unmistakably festive flavours. This winter, beer lovers can sip more than 50 seasonally inspired suds available at breweries along the BC Ale Trail that are heating up the holiday season in style.
From sours incorporating a bounty of BC fruit to barrel-aged and bottle-conditioned beers, along with inspired recipes that bring forth notes of cocoa, orange and mint, there’s no shortage of limited-edition, get-’em-before-they’re-gone seasonal beers to choose from.
The usual suspects like stouts, dunkels and porters are well represented, but with festive twists, like the Angry Elf Peppermint Holiday Stout from Port Alberni’s Dog Mountain Brewing, and the Chocomint Mocha Porter from the Noble Pig Brewhouse in Kamloops. There are some think-outside-the-gift-box beers — like the BC Cranberry Sour from 33 Acres in Vancouver’s Brewery Creek — as well as returning festive favourites like the latest entry in the ‘Anno’ series from Burnaby’s Dageraad Brewing, and the 2021 edition of the now-annual Winter Ale from Kelowna Brewing Company.
So bundle up, grab your crew, and cozy up to some great winter beers while supporting local. And don’t forget to download the BC Ale Trail App to find and collect points for rewards at participating breweries, taphouses, pubs and liquor stores that await at BC Ale Trail’s 200+ locations.
Be sure to check out the blog for the full list of holiday-inspired beers from BC craft breweries, or get in the festive spirit by sampling a selection of 11 different beers from 10 craft breweries below for starters!
Get Sweet on This Sour: BC Cranberry Sour by 33 Acres Brewing Company (5.7% ABV)
A smash hit from 2020, this cran-tastic sour will be back for another seasonal visit with bottles available to go in 33 Acres’ tasting room starting December 17. Brewed with barley, wheat and spelt and fermented with a special mixed culture in an oak foeder, this beer was refermented on BC cranberries to add delicate berry character and complex acidity.
33 Acres Brewing can be found on the Vancouver-Brewery Creek Ale Trail.
Enjoy the Fruits of Their Labour: Fruition 4th Anniversary Ale by Angry Hen Brewing (7.5% ABV | 15 IBU)
Kaslo staple Angry Hen Brewing is celebrating its fourth year in business and saluting loyal fans and new customers with a traditional gift of fruit. Angry Hen’s brew crew added locally picked raspberries, yellow and purple plums and fox grapes and sea salt to the Gose base from their 200th beer and conditioned it for four months to bring this ale to its true Fruition.
Angry Hen Brewing can be found on the Kootenay Rockies West Ale Trail.
Slip Into Some Comfy PJs: Flannel Pyjamas by Camp Beer Co. (10% ABV)
Get out of the cold and slip into some comfy flannel pjs via this Wee Heavy Scotch Ale aged in bourbon barrels for 11 months. This winter warm-you-up is strong, dark and malty with plenty of complex flavours for the discerning palate and has notes of toffee, caramel and smoke — just like a good Camp fire should.
Camp Beer Co. can be found on the Fraser Valley Ale Trail.
The Winter of Our Content: Anno 2021 by Dageraad Brewing (8.5% ABV)
It’s that magical time of year for Dageraad Brewing disciples: the Burnaby destination has released its Anno 2021. It’s a strong golden ale brewed with Okanagan pears and Indian coriander and bottle-conditioned with Brett claussenii (a strain of wild yeast that’s funky, fruity and adds complexity over time). For dyed-in-the-wool Anno acolytes, Dageraad is also selling Vintage Gift Packs featuring one bottle each of the Anno entries from 2018 through 2021 plus two limited-edition holiday glasses.
Dageraad Brewing can be found on the North of the Fraser Ale Trail.
A Buddy-the-Elf Approved Beer: Angry Elf Cocoa Peppermint Holiday Stout by Dog Mountain Brewing (6.5% ABV)
This one’s like Will Ferrell in a barrel — well, his character from the beloved holiday film Elf, anyway. As a special gift for their fans, the pack at Port Alberni’s Dog Mountain concocted this dark and delicious beer using cocoa, vanilla and candy canes to fill stockings of thirsty folks with a refreshingly unique beer that tastes like a peppermint hot chocolate for adults.
Dog Mountain Brewing can be found on the Vancouver Island Part Two Ale Trail.
Paint it ’Black: Black Mammoth Winter Ale by Fernie Brewing Co. (8% ABV | 25 IBU)
Rich, strong and decadent, this black ale is complemented by the additions of chocolate malt, dark organic cocoa and peels from Curaçao oranges and aged on oak for smoothness and complexity. It’s a big and boozy beer that brings forth rich notes of orange and cocoa and pairs perfectly with dark skies, cold nights and freshly fallen snow.
Fernie Brewing Co. can be found on the Kootenay Rockies East Ale Trail.
Sweet Sassy Molassy: 2021 Winter Ale by Kelowna Brewing Co. (7.5% ABV | 33 IBU)
It’s become an annual tradition for Kelowna Brewing fans — a beer perfect for cracking open in front of the fire after a long day on the slopes. Heavy on the malt bill and generous on the molasses in the boil, this brew has a balanced sweetness with notes of treacle and coffee. The Kelowna brew crew also offers personalized cans as a delicious alternative to traditional holiday greeting cards.
Kelowna Brewing Co. can be found on the Kelowna and West Kelowna Ale Trail.
Bob’s Your Dunkel: Candy Cane Dunkel by the Moon Under Water Brew Pub & Distillery (5.4% ABV)
This dark lager was brewed using a single-decoction process that gives it an intense malt flavour without leaving too much residual sugar and giving it a dry, refreshing finish. Candy canes and vanilla were used in the brewing process to give it some added hints of the holiday season.
The Moon Under Water Brew Pub & Distillery can be found on the Victoria Ale Trail.
Mull Over These Two Holiday Infusions from the Noble Pig Brewhouse:
Chocomint Mocha Porter (5.5% ABV | 22 IBU)
A festive spin on the Kamloops’ brew crew’s flagship Stone House Mocha Porter, this Chocomint Mocha Porter is brewed with pure cacao and peppermint for a delightfully delicious winter shiver in every sip.
Mulled Swine Belgian Pepper Ale (5% ABV | 20 IBU)
This ’Swine is mighty fine — a take on the Noble Pig’s beloved Stick House Belgian Pepper Ale, the Mulled Swine is infused with holiday heavy spices and a deliciously mulled flavour guaranteed to get even Grinches into the festive spirit.
The Noble Pig Brewhouse can be found on the Kamloops, Shuswap, Vernon & Merritt Ale Trail.
Twist and Stout: Century Grove Chocolate Orange Stout by Townsite Brewing Inc. (6% ABV | 28 IBU)
Smash that orange — this dessert stout from the popular Powell River destination wraps beer lovers in a warm, comfy and cozy brew blanket. It gives off hints of chocolate and blood orange used in the brewing process and evokes memories of the favourite stocking stuffer from Terry’s Chocolate Co.
Townsite Brewing Inc. can be found on the Sunshine Coast Ale Trail.

Schooled (Bucky Barnes)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x OC
Summary: After the passing of Ava’s father she starts acting out which drives her right into the arms of one gorgeous Professor Barnes.
Warnings: fluff, angst, suggestive themes, swearing, main characters are 20+
Words: 2269
A/N: So, this is very very loosely based on an old fic that I wrote on my old blog so I thought I’d revamp it a bit lot! I’m gonna be tagging the people that were tagged in the original version of this so I hope you guys don’t mind! Also, sorry that they haven’t met in this first part, they meet in the next part, I promise! Please let me know if you would like to be tagged and let me know what you think, I love you all! xxx
Part One - the beginning
It was a beautiful late summer’s day, the birds were chirping and the leaves were starting to turn that burnt orange colour just in time for fall. Everything seemed right with the world, but Ava’s world had seemed to crash and burn and there had been noting she could have done to halt the plan that fate had set in motion. She was a firm believer in everything happening for a reason but why did it have to be her dad? Although his send-off was a nice one, just like he deserved but she still hadn’t been ready to say goodbye to him.
Ava sighed at her reflection in her mirror before making her way downstairs, as she walked into the living room her little sister Morgan looked up from her drawing and gasped, “you look like a princess!”
Ava smiled and smoothed her fingers through her newly dyed blonde hair, “we can both be princesses together then,” she grinned, Morgan giggled and went back to her drawing, she didn’t fully understand what was going on.
Ava looked over at her stepmom who gave her a sad smile, “every time I looked in the mirror I saw him. I needed to make a change,” Ava explained, fiddling with the ends of her hair.
Without a word Pepper pulled her into a huge hug, after a moment she said, “you don’t have to explain, you look beautiful and I’m so glad your back in New York.”
Ava smiled as they pulled away from each other, “dad would have wanted us all to be together, besides I’m definitely not a Californian girl, some of those girls were horrible,” she chuckled, she was so excited to be attending NYU with her old friends and she was even more excited to be staying in the dorms, “and, there was a clear reason why my dad got full custody of me when he and my mom got divorced,” she said, rolling her eyes making Pepper laugh.
“So,” she continued, pouring herself a cup of tea, adding a touch of cinnamon and ginger to it, “which of dad’s things need sorting through? I want to help,” she added as it looked like Pepper was about to argue.
Pepper sighed and nodded, “Rhodey is sorting through the lab, there’s so much shit in there that he’ll probably need a hand.”
Ava nodded and made her way back out of the room and towards the lab, ruffling Morgan’s hair as she went. As she walked into the lab she smirked as she saw Rhodey’s head stuffed into a tall storage box, muffled swearing was coming from the inside of it. She giggled and leaned against the doorway of the lab as Rhodey wrenched his head out of the box, spilling packaging peanuts everywhere.
“Need a hand Uncle Rhodey?” she giggled behind her hand as Rhodey grimaced, brushing peanuts off of his clothes.
“I’d be grateful for the help kiddo,” he nodded, “nice hair by the way.”
Pepper was right, the lab was just full of shit – Tony really had been a hoarder – he probably had never used any of the stuff they found. They found loads of interesting stuff though like an old newspaper article about Ava’s grandfather from the 40’s. Rhodey and Ava had a good old laugh about the photographs they found from Tony’s old college days. Ava unearthed an old jersey that had to be the softest material that she’d ever felt and it somehow still smelled like Tony. She made a mental note to take it off to college with her.
She was sorting through her dad’s desk when she came across a memory stick along with a cutting from a newspaper article.
“Rhodey…” Ava asked slowly, “what’s this?” she asked, upon further inspection she saw that there was a note attached to the back that read, ‘for Ava.’
Rhodey chewed his lip and walked over to her, placing a hand on her shoulder, “you should watch it, your dad would have wanted you to.”
Ava nodded without a word and she quickly set up the laptop to plug the memory stick into. Straight away she saw a younger Tony Stark sitting on a couch; he looked up at the camera, flashing that signature grin. Ava felt tears brewing in her eyes.
“Hey kid, you’re actually having your first nap of the day right now, I can’t believe that you’re a week old already. I wanted to make this video for you to watch after I’m gone which will hopefully not be for a long time. So, if you’re watching this I’m dead, I’m hoping that I had a good run,” he chuckled, “just wanted to tell you kid that no matter where you choose to go or what you choose to do I will always be the proudest of you. You will always be the best thing that happened to me. Whenever you feel sad or alone just watch this video and know that I’m with you till the end. I love you baby girl,” with those final words Tony flipped the camera off.
“You alright kiddo?” Rhodey asked, Ava sniffled and nodded, wiping her tears away, unplugging the memory stick and slipping it into her back pocket.
“I’m fine, I just didn’t know he had it in him to be so serious that’s all,” she chuckled, trying to make light of the situation. She looked further through the desk and picked up the newspaper cutting that she’d seen earlier. Ava frowned as she read the title, ‘Tony and Natalie Stark welcome miracle baby, Avaline.’
There they were right on the front page and in her dad’s arms pink and tiny, with jet black hair was her, “why was I a miracle baby Uncle Rhodey?” she asked and Rhodey smiled weakly.
“Your mom was told by the doctors that there was only about a 20% chance that she’d be able to get pregnant. When you were born without a hitch your dad swore that it was a miracle and he rushed to announce it to the world.”
“Oh,” Ava lamely finished, blinking back tears as an awkward silence settled in the lab, “I should um start packing for Greece, I leave on Friday and I haven’t even started yet.”
“Okay,” Rhodey nodded understandingly, “I’ll see you later.”
Ava nodded and smiled, thanking god that Rhodey was so understanding, “bye Uncle Rhodey,” she escaped to her room and sighed, she hadn’t exactly lied to get away from the awkward situation. She really did need to pack for Greece. She was so not organised.
About an hour into packing she huffed, feeling extremely bored and started scrolling through her phone. She noticed that her friend Wanda had put a message on the group chat that they had with their other friend MJ.
“Hey ladies! Are we all ready for Greece?! I’m actually so excited; we all deserve the sun, the sea and some excellent food if you ask me! Just got an email from college administration saying that the dorms are co-ed this year! We could be rooming with some hot guys! Ava, you chose the right time to enroll in NYU darling, I wish it was under better circumstances though! Ciao for now xxx”
Ava giggled as she read the message; Wanda had just split up with her boyfriend so it would be great for her if she got roomed with a cute guy. In fact, it’d probably be great for Ava too. It was in that moment that she was determined to stop moping around and make a fresh new start. It was what her dad would have wanted for her. She placed the newspaper cutting about her birth on her desk so she’d remember to pack it for college; she kissed her fingers before touching her dad’s photograph.
“Miss you dad.”

Bucky smirked and laid back on the bed, resting his arms behind his head as Natasha walked out of the bathroom, rubbing a towel against her damp red hair. She was so beautiful; she was everything that Bucky had ever dreamed of. Nat looked at Bucky and saw the look on his face and his lust filled eyes.
She rolled her eyes at him playfully, “what are you smirking at gorgeous?” she asked, a smirk to match Bucky’s spread across her face.
“You,” he said simply, “come here,” he chewed his lip, almost whining and Nat huffed with a grin.
“No,” she giggled, backing away from both him and the bed, “you’re gonna get me all dirty again,” she casually flicked her wet her hair over one shoulder and fluttered her eyelashes, knowing what it did to him.
Bucky pouted like a moody teenager, sticking his plump bottom lip out and giving her his best puppy dog eyes, “but we can get clean together again,”
Nat giggled and relented, getting back into the bed with him again, leaning over him to kiss his lips, “god, you are actually beautiful,” Bucky flushed scarlet at her words and tried his best to play it off like it was nothing and he tried to act like her words had no effect whatsoever on him.
“Bucky Barnes, are you blushing?” she teased, nudging his shoulder, making Bucky flush an even deeper colour.
“No!” he said completely unconvincingly, trying to hide his bright red face in the pillow, “leave me alone,” he grumbled, making Nat laugh.
They both heard the distinct sound of a car door slamming and footsteps walking up the gravel path. It didn’t really bother Bucky that much because Nat had told him in the past that she had a roommate. Nat on the other hand, jumped up instantly and padded over to the bay window, discreetly peering out of it as she checked her watch.
“Fuck, shit! Oh my god! Bucky you need to go, like right now!” she spoke frantically, pushing her hair off of her forehead.
Bucky frowned; he couldn’t see why she was so worried, “why? I really want to meet your roommate.”
“Bucky, jesus! I don’t have a roommate, it’s my boyfriend!” he didn’t have time to be so shocked because Nat was urging him to get out of the bed and get dressed. She had to be joking.
“I can’t believe that you didn’t tell me that you’ve got a boyfriend!” he hissed as he pulled his jeans on, “we’ve been sleeping together for months!”
“Never mind that now! Out the window!” she whispered and Bucky’s eyes almost bugged out of his head.
“Out the window?!” he repeated, making sure that he’d heard her right, he was so pissed off beyond belief.
“Yes!” Nat whisper shouted, obviously getting impatient which Bucky thought was rich, “do you want to get beaten up? If you do then by all means stay!” she hissed, flinging his shirt at him.
“For fucks sake!” Bucky grumbled as he climbed out of the window and almost literally shimmied down the drainpipe, “I’m getting far too old for this.”
Steve and Sam both started over the table at Bucky with identical dumbfounded looks on their faces as Bucky finished his crazy story, “I know right,” he chuckled – he could see the humour in it now – as he took a sip of his beer.
“God, I haven’t climbed out of a window since our own college days,” Sam chuckled, shaking his head at Bucky, “and you’re doing it as an actual adult,” he slapped his knee as he laughed about it, obviously finding it really hilarious. Bucky glared at his friend, his pride was still hurting days after climbing out of that window.
“Where the hell do you go to meet these crazy women?” Steve asked, half in awe and half in astonishment.
“Crazy but hot Stevie, that’s the best thing,” Bucky smirked as Steve rolled his eyes and Sam looked kind of proud, “just in bars and stuff man, the usual places where you’d go to meet women,” Bucky shrugged, draining the last of his beer.
“Yeah, well I don’t think that’s working out great for you is it Buck?” Sam chuckled.
“I agree with Sam Bucky and I seriously think that you need to take a holiday or something,” Steve muttered as he got up and went to get the next round of beers.
Bucky shuddered, he couldn’t think of anything worse, he loved going on holiday – like most people but he was terrified of flying. He was bad enough when he was with other people, never mind flying on his own. He hated that it was one of his biggest fears, he really needed to conquer it but it was easier said than done. Sam watched his friend, knowing that he was worried. When Bucky realised that Sam was looking at him he laughed Steve’s comment off casually.
“Is he crazy? Going on an airplane on my own? No thanks.”
“He’s right man; you seriously need a break before you start your new job. And, it would help you forget about what happened last year.”
Bucky’s blood ran cold at Sam’s words, “mate, please do me a favour and don’t talk to me about last year. I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Okay, okay,” Sam relented, holding his hands up, “but if you figure that you do want to talk about it then I’m here for you.”
“Thanks man,” Bucky grinned, clinking his empty bottle against Sam’s, thanking for his best friends.
Maybe Steve was right, maybe he needed to let himself go a little bit more. He was looking forward to what the future had in store for him.

Tempestarii:
One of the oldest artforms of witchcraft is attempting to control the weather. In folklore witches are said to be able to predict and summon up storms and so we will discuss methods of doing just that.
Pertitioning The Divine/Spirits For Weather:
In every culture there are deities and spirits associated with the weather or with aspects of the weather, for example in Ancient Greek mythology the God Boreas represented the North wind. Pertitioning and praying to these deities and spirits was thought to encourage their powers to specific effects such as calling forth rain, wind or storms to this end sacrifices could be made or idols of these forces could be doused in water or threatened with violence to encourage their co-operation. It can be a useful visualisation exercise in trying to control the weather to try to embody these forces to become in mind at one with the clouds, wind, rain and lightning and thus through sympathetic energy to enact greater control over them or when attempting any of the following exercises to invoke or evoke specific spirits and deities associated with the weather phenomenon we are trying to conjour.
Folk Magic:
There are a number of folklores concerning acts thought to evoke the weather such as throwing a handfull of the herbs Broom or Lugwort into the air which is thought to encourage wind and rainfall since both herbs are associated with water, another method involved throwing wet flint over the shoulder which was thought to encourage storms since flint creates sparks when struck and for the moment it is wet and in the air it embodies storm clouds. Finally waving wooden staffs above the head as though conducting the winds to rage was a way of using the wand to command the spirits of air and water to obey.
Weather Forecasting:
Until very recently in history the ability to predict the weather was an occult science based around primitive meteorology and superstitions that were powerful wisdoms at the disposal of witches and shamans, however in todays world fairly accurate weather reports are common place and scientific advancements in meteorology mean that we can have a fair idea of the weather weeks ahead of time and easily predict incoming storms. In any attempt to control the weather in todays world we must be prepared to take the scientific data into account and instead see if we can work with what is already there in terms of incoming weather to try to control and encourage or discourage specific weather patterns and formations, some modern versions of magical weather manipulation involve attempting to spread storms out by conjuring and directing winds or in actually contradicting the scientific data to see if we can for example create rain on a day otherwise forecasted to be sunny. Some natural signs that can predict weather are as follows:
-Jacinth stones turn cloudy in the presence of damp air and resume their brilliance in hot sunny weather making them a natural barometer.
-A halo of light around the sun or moon caused by ice crystals in the air predicts rainfall or snow within three days.
-When flowers smell stronger they are anticipating rain the same is true of strong earthy smells.
-Cattle huddle and lay down together often predicts rain.
-Birds flying high denotes good weather, while flying low or not at all often suggests storms are on approach, birds also become noiser when storms are coming.
-Cats tend to clean their ears before rainfall.
-Dogs eat grass when anticipating rainfall.
-Bats flying in the evening indicates fair weather.
-Slugs, snails, frogs and toads will often be found wandering around outside when rainfall is imminent, when frogs can be heard croaking loudly it means heavy rainfall is comming.
-Spiders come down from their webs before rain.
-Smoke from fire that rises straight into the air predicts good weather while whispy curling smoke is a good indicator that rain is imminent.
-Clouds high in the sky indicate fair weather. Altocumulus clouds which appear as thinly spread clouds or like fishscales predict rainy weather within 36 hours. Cumulus clouds which are slightly rounded and fluffy developing through the day often indicate storms while towering Cumulus clouds which look like cloud versions of explosions often indicate rainfall later that day. Mammatus clouds which resemble swirling breast shaped clouds often herald imminent lightning storms. Cirrus clouds which are very thin whispy clouds in long streaks indicate rainy weather within 36 hours. Nimbostratus clouds which are heavy and low hanging grey storm clouds indicate imminent rainfall. Cirrocumulus clouds which are small fluffy clouds in rows indicate impending cold weather.
-A red sky during sunset in the West indicates dry air and strong wind while a red sky in the morning in the East indicates rainfall or a storm.
-Rainbows in the West in the morning heralds rain while a rainbow in the East in the morning means dry good weather.
-Dew on the grass in the morning indicates that it is unlikely to rain. Dew on the grass at night indicates bright mornings while three or more dewless nights indicate heavy rain is coming.
Whistle Up The Wind:
There is an old belief that whistling summons evil spirits associated with the wind because if you whistle you encourage the wind to whistle back in reply, a powerful witch was thought to be able to summon up gentle breezes and strong gales depending on the type of whistling she used, it is interesting to note that birds which are the creatures of air chirp in a manner similar to the sound of whistling. In order to whistle up the wind we must first be outside and take in a deep breath of the air and feel it within our lungs, we must let our energy unify with the air in our lungs and imbue it with conscious intention to bring forth more of the same; Wind. We must then breath the air we are holding out into a whistling noise visualising the wind it will bring the whole time, it is thought that slow quiet whistles bring gentle breezes while short loud whistles evoke gales and the intent to bring forth such winds must be at the focus of the mind while exhaling the whistling sound. Glass bottles and woodwind instruments can also be used to make the whistling sound that the spirits of the air communicate in and this in turn is thought to encourage them to reply.
Whipping/Stirring Up A Storm:
Witches were said to be able to create storms in all manner of ways wether astral projecting into the clouds to try to influence a storm or in pouring out their cauldrons into the sea which was thought to cause tempests due to the malicious intent that had been stired into the brew and its foul contents. Witches were said to focus on stirring up storms while stiring the water in their cauldrons or by pouring water out or urinating into holes in the ground which would then be stirred to evoke a storm. Witches were also said to be able to create storms by shutting spiders and toads into sealed jars, in the case of toads this is likely due to their association with wet weather, witches also made storms by sacrificing cockerels in their cauldrons, likely because of the roosters association with the sun meaning that its death in ritual could be used to veil or dim the light with cloud cover. Witches also tried to stimulate rain by sprinkling water over broomsticks while mentally embodying the clouds making rainfall. Finally witches were also said to whip streams of water with willow branches to cause storms and rainfall punishing the spirits of the water into obedience and in doing so sending droplets of water and vapour into the air to help stimulate the water cycle.
Rain Dances:
Rain dances are shamanistic ritual dances intended to cause rainfall the shaman and other participents perform enthusiastic dances while dressed in costumes designed to emulate rain spirits and deities the ceremonies are dedicated to such deities and spirits and work on the principle that as the dancers exert themselves they sweat symbolically imitating rainfall which is thought to be evoked and conjured as a result.
Wind Binding:
Wind binding is a form of witchcraft believed to work in one of two ways the first is the belief that the spirits of strong winds could be evoked and commanded into vessels such as bags and jars which would then be sealed so that the wind could be released later when it was required. The second form of wind binding involved taking a long piece of cord which symbolically represents the wind the practisioner then focusing on breathing and tries to embody the spirits of the wind and then taking the cord in hand ties the cord into three knots being careful to trap strong wind between the folds this is usually done along with an incantation proclaiming that wind is tied into the cord then when the wind is to be summoned or released the three knots are untied.
Fertility Rites:
In the ancient world sexual fertility rites were observed where a man and a woman would invoke a God and Goddess of rain and vegetation symbolically marrying those two forces together into sexual union the act of which was thought to fertilise the land and cause rainfall and insure a good harvest especially if the rite resulted in pregnancy.
Sporing Rain:
While the other methods described here are more traditional methods of controlling the weather through witchcraft the following technique is by far the most likely to work. Mushrooms are well known to appear after heavy rainfall and a single mushroom is capable of releasing mass amounts of spores into the air, when mushrooms spore the spores can impregnate low flying clouds and cause those clouds to release trapped rain therefore by pouring water into fields mushrooms can be encouraged to ascend from the earth and can be stimulated to release their spores into low cloud cover to cause rain and storms. Mushrooms are also known to communicate across their mycelium root networks and thus it is likely that each mushroom stimulated to rise and spore will encourage other connected mushrooms across the field to do the same it is also possible that psychoactive mushrooms could be communicated with directly by ingesting them in the fields where they grow and channeling the focus of the psychedelic experience and the mushroom spirit you have embodied towards signalling the mushrooms to rise, spore and cause rainfall.
Seeding Lightning:
Lightning is caused by ice particles within clouds rubbing up against each other and creating an electrical charge which falls to the earth as lightning however ice is difficult to transport since it is prone to melting especially when crushed into small fragments. In order to seed clouds with lightning a practisioner should get up high when low down rainclouds are forming in strong winds that blow in the direction of the clouds and throw powdered quartz crystal into the air above them, quartz is a piezoelectric substance meaning that it generates the exact negative and positive charge needed to create lightning when pressure or friction is applied, as the wind carries the powdered quartz into the cloud it will create strong charges which will fall to the ground as lightning. If the clouds are too high for throwing to be effective fill the quartz powder into a small light weight bag with small holes in it and tie the bag with rope so that it can be whirled around like a sling before being let go of in the direction of the cloud. It may be safer and more effective to drop the quartz powder down into the clouds from above on mountain tops. A final method could be employed by filling a balloon with quartz powder and helium and releasing it into the cloud and then utilising some form of projectile to pop it once it reaches the desired height.

FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY | Release second single and video 'The Sea Of Tragic Beasts'
New Jersey six-piece FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY have just dropped the video for the title track from their upcoming fifth studio album, 'The Sea of Tragic Beasts'. The album will be released on October 25 via Nuclear Blast Records worldwide and Human Warfare (AUS).

"We have to be these puffed up, aggressive people to survive in this world," said guitarist and producer Will Putney about the track. "It's dog eat dog shit out there. Lyrically, the song touches on that violent way of thinking, but it also shows the inherent sadness that comes along with a life of this nature. It's the two main themes that the subject matter on our album was born from, making it a fitting title track. Musically, I think it's a cool display of everything we do as a band — some classic metal foundations with some new tricks for us, and a fight riff for good measure. Hope you enjoy it!"
'The Sea Of Tragic Beasts' was once again produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by the producer/guitarist Will Putney at Graphic Nature Audio in NJ. The artwork for the album was created by Adam Burke.
'The Sea Of Tragic Beasts' is available for pre-order and comes in the following formats: CD Jewel; Vinyl; Clear with White splatter vinyl (limited to 1000); Light Blue/Black swirl vinyl (limited to 750); and Blue Merge splatter vinyl (limited to 500).

California Highway 1 Road Trip
Six weeks ago, Highway 1 fully reopened in Big Sur, following devastating mudslides in May 2017. After $54 million worth of repairs and the removal of millions of tons of earth, rocks, and debris, travelers can once again enjoy an uninterrupted drive along the gorgeous coastal highway between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
But it’s not just the views that make the trek one of the most famous road trips in the world. There’s also the food to contend with: Dotted along the winding route, you’ll find peppery smoked-fish tacos, juicy burgers smothered in eggs and melted cheese, and homemade doughnuts oozing with jelly.
Our version of this journey begins in Point Reyes Station, north of San Francisco. There, you’ll want to stock up on triple cream Mt Tam cheese from Cowgirl Creamery and scarf as many straight-from-the-bay oysters as you can get down. Your eating adventure will continue from there—you’d better start hungry.
Point Reyes
Side Street Kitchen
The specialty at this year-old, bright, modern diner is the crispy skinned rotisserie chicken, fragrant with herbs and served half or whole with an array of sauces, including curried yogurt, salsa verde, and chimichurri rojo. The other specialty: puffy, sugar-coated, fruit-filled apple fritters. 60 4th St., Point Reyes Station
The Boat Oyster Bar
Hog Island Oyster Co. is famed for the oysters it pulls out of the bay and supplies to top dining rooms around the country. A reservation-only café on the water features those world-class bivalves; the menu changes often, but it frequently includes Hog Island’s singular kumamotos. You can get a dozen raw for $36; even better are the barbecued ones, grilled and dripping with chipotle bourbon garlic butter. 20215 Shoreline Highway, Marshall
Half Moon Bay Area
La Costanera
Peruvian food is having a moment in the U.S., and La Costanera, with its wall of windows overlooking the water from a second-floor dining room, has been recognized by Michelin’s Bib Gourmand. The menu has a mix of classics such as antichuchos (grilled skewers) with marinated beef heart and pork belly; empanadas; tender beer-braised lamb shank; and lomo saltado (beef tenderloin with onions, soy sauce, and a fried egg, if you want one). 8150 Cabrillo Highway, Montara
Dad’s Luncheonette
Chef Scott Clark used to cook at San Francisco’s Michelin-three-starred Saison. He’s transformed a red-painted train caboose into a cozy, wood-lined diner with a small menu of comfort food favorites. The $12 hamburger sandwich has melted cheese, a soft egg, and red onion pickles on grilled white bread; the mushroom version substitutes maitakes for the grass-fed beef. 225 Cabrillo Highway South, Half Moon Bay
Sam’s Chowder House
Seafood makes up almost the entire menu at Sam’s, including a “Captains Platter” of oysters, clams, shrimp, poke, and ceviche; an appetizer of grilled sardines; steamed clams (with the option of linguine); and lobster rolls, “naked” with butter or “dressed” with aioli. At night, the place highlights fresh catches such as Pacific swordfish and local halibut. The seats on the deck offer a panoramic ocean view. 4210 Cabrillo Highway, Half Moon Bay
Hop Dogma Brewing Co.
The rotating array of craft brews at this locally popular beer hall might include Pyro’s Prost chili beer (pilsner brewed with jalapeño); Every Third Inquiry, a Bourbon barrel-aged stout; and the flagship Alpha Dank IPA. Guests can order food from nearby Lamas, a Peruvian and Mexican restaurant, and the tacos, burritos, and arroz con pollo will be delivered to the taproom. 270 Capistrano Rd., Half Moon Bay
Duarte’s Tavern
Dating back to 1894, when Frank Duarte bought the place for $12 in gold, this venerable restaurant specializes in a California version of Continental cuisine. The menu runs the gamut from shrimp cocktail to pork chops with fresh applesauce. The specialties are anything with artichokes, plus the cioppino, packed with clams, shrimp, cod and especially crab, which people drive down from San Francisco to eat. 202 Stage Rd.
Santa Cruz
The Picnic Basket
Set on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the picturesque luncheonette has an all-day menu with a powerful breakfast selection: golden-brown turnovers stuffed with seasonal fruit or Niman Ranch ham and cheese; an egg-potato-greens frittata sandwich on toast; and house-made jelly doughnuts. Later in the day, hot dogs and elbow macaroni and cheese turn up on the menu. The nearby Penny Ice Creamery, where everything is house-made under the same ownership, is equally popular. 125 Beach St.
Monterey Peninsula
The Meatery
A serious, whole-animal butcher shop with impressive cuts of meat on display, this white-tiled space also serves as a deli. Sandwiches range from a hefty Reuben to banh mi made with caramelized pork belly slices, pickled vegetables, a hit of cilantro, and kewpie mayo on a French roll. A highlight is the house corned beef with sauerkraut on rye. The hot food offerings change daily: On Sundays and Mondays, there’s buttermilk-fried chicken; on Thursdays, visitors line up for the baby back ribs. 1534 Fremont Blvd., Seaside
The Bench Restaurant
Set on the impossibly scenic Pebble Beach Golf Links 18th hole, the Bench has a crowd-pleasing menu that offers all kinds of pizza-styled flatbreads: with pepperoni; with ratatouille, fennel ricotta and heirloom tomatoes; and with bench bacon and grilled, pickled red onion. The 24-ounce short rib, the Smokey Joe, is smoked for 10 hours. Aside from the best views, the outdoor deck has fire-pit tables. 1700 17 Mile Dr., Pebble Beach
Aubergine at l’Auberge Carmel
Chef Justin Cogley operates one of the country’s best under-the-radar fine-dining restaurants. Set in a Relais & Châteaux property, the intimate dining room has a $175 tasting menu that combines local ingredients in unexpected ways: A Morro Bay oyster with caviar has a hit of sea water, and seared abalone is accompanied by romaine lettuce that’s been braised and sliced in thick rounds, with lobster-infused lettuce puree. Monte Verde at 7th Ave., Carmel
Big Sur
Big Sur Bakery & Restaurant
Amid the trees in the hills off the highway, this exceptional café produces terrific pizzas from the wood oven, with a charred, bready, chewy crust and such toppings as creamy greens, mushrooms and tangy taleggio, and red sauce meatballs. The place is first and foremost a bakery: The creamy lemon curd pie in a pistachio crust is addictive, as is any pastry in the display case. 47540 Highway 1
Sierra Mar at Post Ranch Inn
Post Ranch Inn, renowned for its modernist, cliffside, treehouse rooms overlooking the ocean, has a new manager, Gary Obligacion, formerly of Chicago’s celebrated Alinea. The property’s Sierra Mar restaurant is home to one country’s largest wine collections, with 14,000-plus bottles. It complements an elegant four-course tasting menu from which the seared foie gras has a garnish of hazelnuts and king salmon is paired with smoked split peas and sweet apple. 47900 Highway 1
The Sur House at Ventana Big Sur
In 2017, Ventana went through a multimillion-dollar renovation. The renovated Sur House restaurant now has outdoor fireside seating and a bar menu with smoky spice-rubbed chicken wings and open-faced tuna melt accented with pickled fennel. The dinner menu has deceptively simple dishes, such as grilled pork loin on a bed of jalapeño-spiked grits. The wine cellar is also notable: some 10,000 bottles with a focus on the Central Coast. 48123 Highway 1
San Luis Obispo
Ruddell’s Smokehouse
There’s not much barbecue along Highway 1. The notable exception is Ruddell’s, where founder Jim Ruddell set up shop in 2001 in a small building with a few tables outside. The place smokes albacore and salmon with a brown sugar and kosher salt rub; chicken is slow-cooked over hickory. The smoked seafood and poultry are available as tacos in a big French-roll sandwich or salad—and by the pound. 101 D St., Cayucas
Cracked Crab
In the surfing town of Pismo Beach, the unpretentious Cracked Crab has a blazing neon sign and lines stretching out the door. The menu changes according to availability of seafood and features an ocean’s worth of crab: dungeness cocktail with lime and avocado; puck-size, pan-seared lump blue crab cakes; and New England-style lobster rolls stuffed with crab instead. The seafood buckets offer the opportunity to mix and match wild Gulf shrimp, Alaskan crab, clams, mussels, and lobster tails; they go for $61 for one person and $79 for two and come with all the mallets and scissors you’ll need to extract the shellfish. 751 Price St., Pismo Beach
Santa Barbara
Jalama Beach Store & Grill
In Lompoc, the epicenter of Santa Barbara winemaking, is this grill, set inside a store that’s set inside the county park. The specialty is the Jalama burger: It’s quintessential Cali-style, with shredded lettuce, tomato, onions, special sauce, and a griddled bun. The burger has gotten so popular over its almost 40-year history that the name is trademarked. 9991 Jalama Rd., Lompoc
La Super-Rica Tacqueria
Famous for being name-checked by Julia Child, Super-Rica is a cheerful, white-and-turquoise stand with a large selection of options that feature stellar homemade tortillas. The tacos are filled with all kinds of grilled meats—chunks of spiced, brick-colored chorizo; adobado with tender strips of marinated pork. The Super-Rica Especial is made up cheese-stuffed green pasilla chiles that are roasted and draped over tortillas with marinated pork and more cheese, for $6. 622 N. Milpas St., Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara Shellfish Co.
At the end of a dock on the harbor, this photogenic counter started out selling local seafood almost 30 years ago. Customers can still buy fish from commercial fishermen here. (There’s also a robust online store with trays of uni and stone crab claws.) The chopped caesar comes with a choice of grilled, skewered shrimp or sweet scallops. There’s more local shrimp, coated with coconut and crispy fried, garnished with onion rings. Also highly recommended are the linguine studded with garlic-sauteed clams in the shell and the monumental, steamed two-pound crab, along with a selection of local wine and beer by the pitcher. 230 Stearns Wharf, Santa Barbara
The Los Angeles Area
Malibu Farm
What started as a pop-up dining room by Helene Henderson in 2013 is now a farmers market-driven restaurant and café on the Malibu Pier, with outposts in Miami and Hawaii. The all-day café at the end of the dock has a lightbulb-lit menu that boasts a pile-up of Swedish pancakes with whipped cream and whatever the seasonal berries are, as well as kale caesar and BLTs with lemon aioli brushed on whole wheat. Down the pier, a slightly more serious version of the restaurant offers a tofu, spinach, and tomato scramble on weekend mornings, and nachos, featuring blue corn chips laden with black beans, melty cheese, and drizzles of sour cream in the evenings. 23000 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu
Tallula’s
Chef Jeremy Fox, who heads up the nearby vegetable-focused Rustic Canyon, now puts a creative spin on the Mexi-Cali dining room. In a colorful space decorated with hanging plants, Fox uses exceptional local corn, served Mexican-style with smoky chipotle aioli, and accents black-cod tacos with malt tartar sauce in tender, house-made tortillas. A daily taco special is dreamed up by rotating cooks in the kitchen. The serious bar program features mezcal Manhattans on draft, as well as the obligatory margaritas. 118 Entrada Dr., Santa Monica
Father’s Office
Chef Sang Yoon began serving one of the—if not the—country’s first gourmet burgers almost 20 years ago. The Office Burger is made from freshly ground, dry-aged beef, so it’s got a deep, meaty flavor that’s further accentuated by sweet caramelized onions, bacon, gruyere, and blue cheese. Accompanying fries, standard or sweet potato, are presented in a mini-shopping cart. Father’s Office is equally known for pouring dozens of local craft beers. 1018 Montana Ave., Santa Monica

After a one-year hiatus, Horseshoe Bay Resort will again host the annual Beer By The Bay Music Festival. The eighth rendition of this popular annual event encompasses the finest collection of Texas musicians and Texas-based breweries for the eighth time.
“This is an event that so many people mark on their calendars, so it's exciting to see how many groups have already booked their weekend packages for Beer By the Bay,” says Bryan Woodward, managing director. "Along with the fall's Wine, Dine and Jazz Festival, The Shootout and the springtime Balloons Over Horseshoe Bay festival, this festival is indicative of how our Horseshoe Bay Resort signature events have created lasting and thrilling memories for our members and resort guests. If you haven't experienced our unique combinations of entertainment and world-class food and beverage events, please join us this year.”
This year’s event runs Friday and Saturday, August 13 and 14.
