Whiskey Eats Out: Scotthill Caribbean Cuisine

I really need to learn to make jerk sauce.

Soup (complimentary?) From what I can tell this must have come with our meals because it’s listed on the website at $10.00 and it didn’t appear on the bill. Either way, this soup was delicious. It was fresh, rich, savoury and hearty - spiced just right with huge chunks of fresh, thick-cut vegetables. The perfect appetizer to kick-start the palette.

Boneless Jerk Chicken $15.00 It’s been ages since I’ve had jerk chicken and this was just what I was after. Big chunks of fresh-cut chicken - straight off the bone, marinated and cooked to absolute perfection, with a light crust and bursting with a wonderful, savoury flavour. The rice and beans were the perfect smooth-texture compliment to the chicken and the jerk sauce on top of it all made this simply fantastic. Every bite was nothing short of delicious.

Fried Dumpling with Ackee $9.50 I’ve never tried this before but I can definitely say I was not disappointed. The dumplings were light, fresh, sweet and fluffy, and the complimented the taste and texture and sweetness of the ackee wonderfully. Fried with fish and fresh vegetables this was also an excellent appetizer to a fantastic meal.

We stumbled across Scotthill completely by accident - the only stand-out restaurant amid a sea of either Italian, Thai or Bar-&-Grill restaurants on Avenue road. Never being one to shy away from trying something different, this seemed like our best bet and it did not let us down. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was warm, the prices were reasonable and the food was delicious. They definitely do jerk chicken right. It was a refreshing break from the ordinary and exactly what was need to satisfy the tastebuds. In addition, there was a wonderful three-piece band comprised of friendly and talented musicians. If you head to Scotthill on a Saturday night, you  just might be lucky enough to enjoy a meal and be serenaded with delightful, chilled-out reggae sounds.

Just some scotthill headcannons -Brooke being upset that Warren hadn't understood that she wanted to go to the drive in with her and Stella finding out. So stella decided to ask her out "as friends" -the two had always been friendly with each other but after Stella and brooke went to the movies they become a lot closer -brooke texting Stella 24/7 and Stella not minding at all (it actually being the highlight of her day) -Brooke realizing she was crushing really hard on Stella but hiding it BC she was sure Stella wouldn't feel the same -Stella always having a small crush on brooke but not knowing how to go about it and now that they were friends she was afraid to ruin their friendship -one day they are hanging out when warren goes by with his girl/boyfriend and Stella looks over at brooke expecting to see her upset and instead brooke's just looking at stella with a happy look on her face, blushing once she saw Stella looking at her. -Stella knowing that that was Brooke's love struck face because she used to stare at warren with that same look and not knowing how to go about talking to brooke about it -Stella asking brooke out for real and all brooke can do is wrap her arms around Stella and kiss her STELLA AND BROOKE MAN
