CLOUD HAWK OF 10 THOUSAND LEAGUES August-Chrysanthemum Class Imperial Cataphract

The Empire of Bilu, which dominates the southern reaches of the Great Continent, terms its machine armours as Cataphracts, and the designs reflect the name: they are massive, heavily armoured units designed for shock and awe.

Cataphract pilots are part of Bilu’s aristocracy, and their armours are property of their Houses, as well as consecrated symbols of the Biluvian Orthodoxy.

They are always lavishly painted and decorated with house markings, colours and sometimes flags, as well as religious symbols, though in terms of design they are fairly standard - there are only a handful of state-regulated design bureaus, which the Great House purchase their armours from.

As with most MAs, a co-pilot equipped with an antecognitive spur (commonly known as a 'Psyco-Jack') is required to direct the combat computer. In the Cataphract Corps, this duty is undertaken by eunuchs - recruited from the landed gentry, or the noble families of newer Imperial subjects.

I do not typically collect science fiction magazines, but this one is an obvious must-have for me. This cover art by David Martin is some of the most fun I have ever seen, from the cat galaxy to the mouse spaceship. 10000/10, no notes on this stupendous edition of Amazing Stories from 1991.

Mythical Galaxy - Part 1: Call of the Muse

In the very distant future, an alien humanoid named Cepheus, his reptilian colleague, Draco, and their robot butler, Auriga, aimlessly roam the universe in their ship.

However, Cepheus receives his first call to adventure in years when he decides to court his long-lost lover, Cassiopeia. Cepheus now sets out on his galactic quest of traversing the cosmos to finally reunite with his beloved Cassiopeia.
