Indian Independence Day Celebration: Top 3 Ideas and Activities for Preschoolers and Kids
The kids have not witnessed the freedom struggle, but some are fortunate enough to have great grandparents who can narrate their personal experiences during the struggle.
To instill a feeling of patriotism in the little ones, Independence Day is celebrated at every preschool in India. It is a great way to imbibe a sense of nationalism through imparting knowledge in a fun-filled manner and in a way that they are receptive to it.
Independence Day celebrations in preschools are a must, and parents and communities should also take the lead to plan activities amongst kids and preschoolers so that they understand the relevance of it and the struggle behind the freedom we enjoy today.
Tumblr media
Including fun preschool activities to make the children understand the concept of freedom, diversity, and the importance of unity in the country is a great way.
Here are a few ideas and activities that can be incorporated for the 71st Indian Independence Day celebration in Preschools:
Kids dressed as freedom fighters
Our freedom fighters have been no less than superheroes. One can plan a superhero party with the national heroes who fought for the country’s and the citizen’s freedom. Activities can be involved to make visuals of the freedom fighters. Stories can also be narrated in an exciting tone that resonates with kids. It will help them connect more with the national heroes and will also imbibe a feeling of patriotism in their mind.
Watch patriotic movies
Children love to watch movies, and when it is with friends, they enjoy even more. A movie playdate in preschool where kids come dressed in tricolor clothes will impart excitement.
Tumblr media
Vande Mataram fest
Written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Vande Mataram has played a vital role in motivating our national heroes through the freedom struggle, and many musical versions have been released since then. It has emerged as one of the most famous patriotic songs in the country.
Even today, it stirs emotions amongst all ages. The versatility is what makes the song unique. A Vande Mataram fest can be planned in preschool for kids where kids can form groups and perform on the song. The performances will engage children with the feeling of patriotism and teach them to work as a team in groups.
Tumblr media
Great games, combined with fun preschool activities, impart more knowledge about the country in children. Other activities that can be conducted on the premises is to engage children in painting their t-shirts or making colored paper lanterns.
Many preschools have realized the importance of learning through engaging and fun activities. One such preschool is Kidzee. At Kidzee, kids are encouraged and inspired to teach the value of freedom and nationalism.

OPINION: The Life and Times of an Indian Otaku
Tumblr media
Makoto Shinkai's Weathering With You marked a historic first in my anime watching career. Contrary to popular belief, being the first anime to be released in Indian theaters is not the historic first in question (that honor goes to Shinchan: Bungle in the Jungle). Rather, Weathering With You would become the first film I'd ever watch on opening day — "first day first show" as we Indians call it. In the mad scramble to get tickets, I'd emerged a winner. Was it worth the struggle?
An emphatic yes. It was so good I went on to rewatch it twice.
To fans in India: I’m so happy to tell that ‘Weathering With You’ (Tenki no ko) will release in India this October! We have licensed the Indian distribution rights to PVR Pictures and BookMyShow backed company Vkaao.
— 新海誠 (@shinkaimakoto) August 10, 2019
The Indian theatrical release of Weathering With You in 2019 marked an important moment in the history of the Indian anime fandom. The story of how Shinkai noticed (and fulfilled) an online petition by Indian fans asking for its release here is already the stuff of legend. Because access to anime (especially in theaters) was so scarce in India, even in 2019, fans sought to have the film legally released in theaters. And thanks to Shinkai, it worked. To Indian anime fans, this represented the moment Japan — and the rest of the world — recognized our existence in the fandom. But Indian otakus didn't spring up overnight. Anime has had nearly three decades of history here. It just looks a little different than the rest of the world. The origins of anime in India go back to the '90s. Prior to the economic reforms of 1991, we had one — yes, only one — TV channel, the state-owned Doordarshan. The post-1991 wave of private TV channels brought with it a flood of international TV shows, among them anime like Robotech (which aired on the newly-created Star Plus). Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama, the anime adaptation of the Indian mythological epic of the same name, was released in 1992 and had a long and troubled production history, but the end product was a grand success, with its all-star Hindi cast and catchy songs turning it into a TV fixture for well over a decade. It even received a US release, with Bryan Cranston voicing the lead role. The remainder of the '90s would see various anime achieve varying degrees of success, from Nippon Animation's 1989 adaptation of The Jungle Book — which became a nationwide hit — airing in India starting in 1993, to late-night anime like You're Under Arrest and Gunsmith Cats. Despite this, there wasn't yet an actual fandom surrounding anime at the time. That would all change upon the turn of the century.
Tumblr media
Cartoon Network revolutionized the Indian anime market when the channel arrived in 2001. The launch of dedicated anime programming block Toonami brought with it two anime that would permanently shape the future of the fandom: Dragon Ball Z and Cardcaptor Sakura (albeit in its heavily-edited Cardcaptors form). While I never watched Dragon Ball Z (compared to all my friends at school), I did watch some Cardcaptors with my sister, which would actually be the very first anime I watched. My own viewing habits notwithstanding, DBZ was very much the anime of the moment. Schoolkids would frequently shout out famous lines from the iconic English dub. We'd even invented various hand games based on attacks and moves from DBZ. In 2003, another monumental shift would come as the childhood classic Pokémon hit the small screen, followed closely by Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Beyblade. The merchandise associated with these franchises turned them into smash hits with a younger audience. All the cool kids had Pokemon cards and Beyblade tops. Battling with them at school was the stuff childhood was made of. To this day, these toys continue to sell well. Beyblade tournaments are still very much a thing. While many of my schoolmates were avid fans of DBZ, there were other trends in anime that could be observed, trends that had to do with language. From my experience, certain anime were only available dubbed in Hindi — a language spoken largely by the northern half of the country. Coming from a south Indian city with a significant north Indian population, I could observe a clear trend wherein Hindi-speaking north Indians grew up with these Hindi-dubbed anime, while people in the south (who spoke other languages) largely grew up with titles that were available in English (or Tamil, as fans of DBZ's Tamil dub can testify). Interestingly, these Hindi dubbed anime tended to be ones that were popular in Japan but not so much in the West — stuff like Doraemon, Shin-Chan, KochiKame, and Case Closed. This gave the north Indian anime scene a rather unique flavor. An even more interesting case is that of India's northeastern region (comprised of states like Nagaland, Manipur, and Meghalaya). Being culturally different from the rest of India, these states have had a history of consuming Korean and Japanese media, and they embraced anime and manga in a way the rest of the nation had not. Anime-related cosplay is huge in the northeast, with some of the best cosplay conventions in the nation taking place there and becoming a part of the local fashion scene. The general acceptance of otaku culture in the region continues to be high.
Tumblr media
Eventually, anime would become a little more accessible to all. The launch of dedicated channel Animax in 2004 represented another watershed moment in the fandom. The shows Animax brought over were unlike anything we'd seen in the medium. Shows like Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Inuyasha, and K-On! redefined what anime meant for Indian audiences who had previously seen anime as a childhood interest and no different from other cartoons. As the channel slowly began to shift its focus to the older teen/young adult demographic, more mature anime like Cowboy Bebop, Hell Girl, Akira, and Welcome to the NHK challenged our conservative notions of what was acceptable to air on TV, especially considering these shows aired in daytime slots rather than late-night. This honeymoon period did not last. Animax was delisted by service providers in 2012. The years to come would be some of the most frustrating for us anime fans, as availability was at its most inconsistent and uncertain. While the channel attempted to make a comeback later on in 2016, it eventually disappeared for good in 2017. Despite all these problems, I look back on Animax fondly. Thanks to it, we became aware of the existence of the entity known as "anime." We began to actively seek out anime over other forms of animation. In short, it resulted in the formation of an actual fandom centered around anime. Anime fan clubs began to pop up in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Kolkata. Widespread conventions outside of the northeast region came next. Anime Con India was started in 2010, followed closely by Delhi Comic-Con in 2011. Anime conventions in India are a curious thing. They are very unlike the sprawling, sophisticated conventions of the West. The funds simply aren't there for that sort of thing. I don't recall a single Indian anime convention that was attended by a voice actor, animator, or the like. So what are Indian cons about? In an interview with The Citizen, Anime Con India founder Nitesh Rohit talked about his reason for starting the con: "like any other belief and faith they all needed a temple to congregate (at)." This statement really resonates with me, and sums up what Indian cons are about. What they lack in scale and facilities, they make up for in intimacy and a feeling of togetherness. They are more or less small-scale events for anime fans to find other fans, to network with them, and basically feel less alone. Because feeling alone was part of the original Indian otaku experience. The early fandom was largely an urban phenomenon, as going to cons wasn't an option for everyone and the internet wasn't what it is today. So, you had these disconnected pockets of fans. People around you were unlikely to share your interest in anime and may have even judged you for it. The general consensus in India was (and still is) that animation is a medium for children. And remember, for a long time, anime accessibility varied by region. So, if you were lucky enough to find a kindred otaku, there was no guarantee they were into (or had even heard of) the same titles as you. This meant that we hadn't really had the ability to develop any sort of unique culture or traditions of our own. Things like going to cons, renting anime DVDs, memes and in-jokes — these things didn't exist for the vast majority of early fans who were school-going kids or college students of little means. A culture of our own wouldn't arise until much later — when that generation grew up.
Tumblr media
Of course, it wasn't just us who grew up — technology did, too. The internet became more ubiquitous. Social media and forums enabled us to network with each other regardless of location, in ways we'd never have imagined. To the scattered fandom of the early days, this has been nothing short of a blessing. The other big change ushered in by the internet was the era of streaming. Until then, most of our anime viewing took place on television and as previously stated, was not always very consistent. Accessibility improved greatly with the launch of Netflix in 2016. In today's India, Netflix is a household name, with a significant portion of young adults having access to a subscription. With a catalog of over 200 anime, Netflix has been responsible for pulling in many new fans. Plenty of people "come for the movies, stay for the anime." Series like My Hero Academia, Death Note, and One-Punch Man have become mainstream successes in this fashion, with a significant following even among non-anime fans. Another streaming service that is beginning to make inroads into the Indian market is Crunchyroll, with simulcasts like Boruto and originals like Tower of God, and the fact that it is free makes it accessible to anyone with an internet connection. Most Indian anime fans I know of have heard of Crunchyroll, and as more titles get licensed it is inevitable that its popularity will rise. And us otakus are doing plenty to help it do just that.
The success of Weathering With You is a shining example of the tight-knit nature of the Indian anime fandom. All it took was one person (an anime fan named Divishth Pancholi) to create a Change.org petition asking for its release in Indian theaters. The petition went viral, getting over 50,000 signatures and attracting the attention of Shinkai and the producers, resulting in its release here. Today, that event is seen as a smaller part of a greater Indian anime movement that is pushing for increased availability and acceptance of anime in India. Hashtags like #IndiaWantsAnime frequently make their presence felt on social media. This fandom isn't without its problems — it isn't the most inclusive when it comes to non-male fans, the "animation is for kids" specter hasn't been fully shaken off, and I'd love for anime BluRays/DVDs to be more widely available here. But I am grateful for the fandom's existence for getting me into anime in the first place. Without them, I'd have never been sitting in a movie theater on October 11, 2019, watching Weathering With You.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
~Schools and Villages to have sanitary napkin dispensers and napkin manufacturing machines installed ~
Mumbai, July 2021: With an aim to strengthen women’s health in rural areas, Ambuja Cement Foundation (ACF) has conceptualized and implemented the Menstrual Hygiene Management Programme across 7 locations. To facilitate this program, ACF has partnered with Häfele, the Global Interior Fittings Specialist from Germany, and together they will extend support to these rural locations through the installation of Sanitary Napkin Making/Dispensing Machines together with educative initiatives to spread knowledge about menstrual hygiene and breaking the many myths and stigmas around it.
In rural areas, menstrual hygiene management and anemia have a huge impact on the overall development of girls. Sharing her views on the issue, Ms. Pearl Tiwari, Director & CEO, Ambuja Cement Foundation said, “Menstrual hygiene is a matter of public health. The main challenge is to address the shame, taboos and several myths attached to periods and menstrual hygiene. We need to work dedicatedly by identifying gaps and creating awareness to bring effective behavior change in not just women but in the whole society. Male members of the community also have a crucial role to play here, thus, increasing knowledge and awareness for male members is also a part of this MHM program.”
Talking about Häfele’s contribution to this initiative, Ms. Padma Gupta, Director - Human Resources & Customer Experience, South Asia said, “We believe in creating partnerships that make a difference to society. We are really happy to be associated with this public health cause and I am hopeful that our collaboration with Ambuja Cement Foundation will take their menstrual hygiene management program to the next level, by imparting sanitation education and support among young girls and women in rural areas.”

1. Access to knowledge and information
2. Access to menstrual absorbents
3. WASH structures and maintenance
4. Access to safe disposal
ACF will facilitate biodegradable sanitary napkin-making machines which will be installed through rural women federations where maintenance and output will also be monitored. How to Find a Business Opportunity
What exactly is a business opportunity?
To clear things up, we've devised a simple analogy. Remember when your teacher was explaining the difference between a rectangle and a square in elementary school? A square is a rectangle, but a rectangle isn't always a square. The same holds true for business opportunities, independent businesses for sale, and franchises. All franchises and independent businesses for sale are business opportunities, but not all business opportunities meet the definition of a franchise or are independent businesses for sale in the strictest sense. Making matters even more complicated, 26 states have passed legislation defining business opportunities and regulating their sales. These statutes are frequently so comprehensively written that they include franchises as well. Not every state that has enacted a business opportunity law defines the term in the same way.
Tumblr media
However, the majority of them describe one using the following broad criteria: 1.A business opportunity entails the purchase or lease of any product, service, or equipment that will allow the purchaser-licensee to start a business. 2.The licensor or seller of a business opportunity promises to secure or help the customer in locating a suitable site or to deliver the goods to the purchaser-licensee. 3.The licensor-seller ensures a revenue higher than or equal to the amount paid for the product by the licensee-buyer when it is resold and that there is a market for the product or service. 4.The initial fee paid to the seller to begin the business opportunity should be between $400 and $1,000. 5.The licensor-seller agrees to buy back any goods bought by the licensee-buyer if it cannot be sold to the business's potential consumers. 6.The licensee-buyer will acquire any goods or services produced by the seller-licensor. 7.The licensor-seller of the business opportunity will provide the licensee-buyer with a sales or marketing campaign, which will often involve the use of a trade name or trademark. The sale of an independent company by its owner is often prohibited under the rules governing business opportunity enterprises. Rather, they are intended to cover the numerous sales of distributorships or companies that do not satisfy the criteria of a franchise under a 1979 FTC regulation. This legislation distinguishes three types of business offerings: package franchises, product franchises, and business opportunity ventures. Four characteristics must be present in order for a business opportunity endeavor to be classified as such under the FTC rule: 1.The person who purchases a business opportunity, also known as a licensee or franchisee, is required to distribute or sell products or services provided by the licenser or franchisor. 2.The licensor or franchisor must assist the licensee in obtaining a retail outlet or accounting for the products and services distributed or sold. 3.A financial transaction of at least $500 must occur between the two parties prior to or within six months after the licensee or franchisee begins the business endeavor. 4.All terms and conditions of the licensor-licensee relationship must be specified in writing. The selling of business prospects, as defined by the FTC regulation, is clearly distinct from the sale of an independent company. When it comes to the sale of a sole proprietorship, the buyer has no responsibilities to the seller. Following the completion of the sales transaction, the buyer may subscribe to any company operations system of his or her choice. The seller does not demand a continuing connection. Business opportunity ventures, like franchises, are companies in which the seller agrees to remain involved with the buyer indefinitely. Different Types of Business Opportunities The following are the FTC's definitions of the most prevalent kinds of business opportunity ventures: Distributorship. Refers to an independent agent who has entered into an agreement to offer and sell another's goods but is not permitted to use the manufacturer's trade name as part of its own. Depending on the terms of the agreement, the distributor may be restricted to selling just that company's products, or it may be allowed to promote a variety of product lines or services from other companies. Jobber on the rack. The sale of another company's goods via a rack distribution system at a variety of shops served by the rack jobber. Typically, the agent or buyer gets into an arrangement with the parent business to sell their products via strategically placed shop racks to different stores. The main business acquires a number of sites where the racks are rented on a short-term basis. It is the agent's responsibility to manage the inventory, move the goods around to attract customers, and handle the accounting. Routes for vending machines This is quite similar to rack jobbing. The investment is often higher for this kind of business opportunity endeavor since the businessperson must purchase both the equipment and the goods being sold, but the position is inverted in terms of the payment method. The vending machine operator must pay a percentage of sales to the site owner. The key to any route agreement is to acquire sites in high-traffic regions that are also as near to one another as feasible. If your locations are far apart, you will spend time and money commuting between them. In addition to the three kinds of business possibilities mentioned above, you should be aware of four others: Dealer. A dealer is similar to a distributor, however unlike a distributor, who may sell to a number of dealers, a dealer would often sell solely to a store or the customer. Licenses for trademarks and products. The licensee gets the right to utilize the seller's trade name as well as particular techniques, equipment, technology, or goods under this kind of agreement. The use of a trade name is entirely optional. Marketing via a network. This is a broad phrase that encompasses direct sales and multilevel marketing. You would sell goods as a network marketing agent via your own network of friends, neighbors, coworkers, and so on. In certain cases, you may be able to earn extra commissions by recruiting other agents. Cooperatives. This business is comparable to a licensee arrangement in which an established company, such as a hotel or hardware shop, may associate with a broader network of similar companies, typically only for the purpose of advertising and marketing via a shared name. How the Government Safeguards You The FTC Rule, which has been in force since late 1979, has had a wide-ranging influence on the franchise and business opportunity industries, as well as prospective franchisees and licensees. The regulation is intended to ensure that all potential purchasers of a franchise or business opportunity get a complete disclosure including all of the background information required to make an educated investment choice. Despite the FTC's ruling and strong state-level action, some merchants will attempt any way to avoid regulation. Neither the FTC rule nor state laws can ensure that you will not be a victim of fraud. As a result, you should pay particular attention to the FTC disclosure statement that is provided to you. Before signing a binding contract or paying money (or other compensation) to the vendor, every potential buyer of a business opportunity must obtain the FTC disclosure statement. The 10-business-day deadline is a bare minimum. If you haven't gotten an FTC disclosure paperwork, don't sign anything or pay any money, especially if it's said to be "refundable." If the vendor fails to provide you with a disclosure form, they are breaking federal law and may possibly be breaking state law. If the salesperson argues that his or her offering is exempt from FTC regulations, seek to obtain an opinion letter from counsel before proceeding. In addition, ask the salesperson for the phone number of the local state agency or FTC office that has informed them that they are exempt. There are very few business opportunity offers that are excluded. The only significant exceptions are those in which the entire initial payment during the first six months is less than $500, or when payment is provided solely for first goods sold at a genuine wholesale price. Business Opportunities vs. Franchises As a general rule, a franchisee receives greater assistance from the parent business, is permitted to utilize the trademarked name, and is subject to stricter supervision by the franchisor. Business prospects, on the other hand, don't get as much assistance from the parent business, aren't usually given the use of a trademarked brand, and aren't bound by the parent company's operating standards. As previously said, there are many types of business opportunity initiatives. Some are even turnkey organizations, much like many package-format franchises. These business possibilities provide everything you could possible need to get started. They assist you in choosing a site, give training, and provide license support.

Virender Sehwag Biography
The swashbuckling former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag is considered as one of the most destructive batsmen in the world. Virender Sehwag is known to clear the ropes in the just the first ball of the innings as his aggressive approach on the field has seen him demolish the opposition’s bowling attack. The “Nawab of Najafgarh” has been the nightmare of the opposition bowlers since the day he started opening the innings for the Indian team.
Sehwag made his International debut against Pakistan in an ODI match in Mohali on April 1, 1999. The 21-year-old came in to bat at the 7th down and he was bundled out cheaply by Shoaib Akhtar. However, he was promoted to bat as an opener in the coming matches and the rest is history. Two years later Sehwag made a cut into the Test team against mighty South Africa where he hammered a century on his test debut. Sehwag has been a great admirer of Sachin Tendulkar due to his batting techniques and loved watching him bat from the non-striker’s end. But he himself had a subtle and unorthodox technique of batting, especially for his square cuts and uppercuts.
Sehwag announced his retirement from the International cricket on 20th October 2015 after getting ignored by the national team selectors for over two years. He played his last international match against Australia in a Test match at Hyderabad in March 2013. Sehwag is currently into a part of the commentary panel and does good commentary in both English and Hindi.

Sehwag’s Height: Virender Sehwag’s height is 5 ft 6 In (1.67 metres)

The cold war with MS Dhoni that barred him from the Indian team: This ought to be the mother of all controversies in Virender Sehwag’s career during his playing days. There have been instances when both Dhoni and Sehwag were seen teasing each other in the dressing room which sometimes didn’t end up well. The tiff between them caused unrest in the Indian dressing room which was followed by the team’s disastrous run in England and Australia in 2011-2012. Sehwag was also going through a rough patch of his career as he was not among the runs for almost a year. Eventually, he was dropped from the side as the youngsters took over his place. Later, Sehwag revealed that MS Dhoni didn’t want him along with two other players in the team due to their slow fielding. He also alleged that MS didn’t even consult with them before saying it in front of the media. Because of that particular incident, many also criticise Dhoni for literally ending Sehwag’s career.
Controversial tweet that incited communal controversy: Virender Sehwag almost put himself in a controversy as he tweeted on an incident in 2018 when a tribal man was killed in Kerala by a mob. Madhu stole 1 kg rice: A mob of Ubaid , Hussain and Abdul Kareem lynched the poor tribal man to death. This is a disgrace to a civilised society and I feel ashamed that this happens and kuch farak nahi padta. pic.twitter.com/LXSnjY6sF0
Banned for excessive appealing against South Africa: This controversy doesn’t only involve Virender Sehwag but three other Indian players Deep Dasgupta, Harbhajan Singh and Shib Sunder Das as they were alleged for excessive appealing against South Africa at Port Elizabeth. Match referee Mike Dennes came down really hard on the Indian players as he handed them suspension for the excessive appealing. But the naive Sehwag was the only one who ended up with the suspension. Indian team still picked Sehwag for the test series against England on which ICC issued a statement saying that any match involving Sehwag would be termed “unofficial” until he serves one ban imposed on him.
Missed his century by 1 run: This on-field controversy involving Virender Sehwag and Suraj Randiv takes us back to the tri-series between Indian, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Apparently, Virender Sehwag was batting on 99* and the Indian team required just one run to win the match. Randiv deliberately bowled a no-ball and Sehwag hammered him for a six. Initially, Sehwag thought that he had earned those six runs as he started celebrating his century and team’s victory. But during the post-match presentation when he was adjudged the Man of the Match, he realised that the no-ball denied him his well-deserved century which he immediately cited signifying the length of the no-ball and subsequently, Randhiv was banned for one match while Tillakaratne Dilshan had to give up his one match’s fees.
