Tag 1602 / Das war heute sehr schön im Schinkel Pavillon

Und nicht, weil die Ausstellung so besonders war. Oder vielleicht doch. Aber auch, weil es ein Stück Berlin-Geschichte ist, ein Stück DDR-Geschichte, weil ich Räume liebe, die umfunktioniert werden, Räume, die erzählen, ohne Genaues preiszugeben. So wie das Internet eben doch viel zu wenig weiß. Wie sah es aus 1979 in der Schinkel Klause? Warum sind sich alle einig, hier hätte das DDR-Oberhaupt Cocktails getrunken? Haben diese Texte über das Gebäude nur Westdeutsche geschrieben?

Es war schön im Pavillon, in der Klause wegen meiner Vorhabenumsetzungsrate, wegen dem, wie ich mich fühle in Ausstellungsräumen, wie ich mich fühle umgeben von Kunst. Es war schön, weil ich spüren konnte wie an Tag 1096 in Wien, wie meine Erinnerungen wach werden, wie sich Inhalte verknüpfen - kenne ich aus der Böse-Bank-Sammlung von Tag 1356, kenne ich aus der Geliebte-vom-Medienriesen-Sammlung von Tag 912. Es berauscht mich vielleicht sogar, mich als trockene Alkoholikerin, wie sich Abstinenzgeschichte an Abstinenzgeschichte reiht, wie gut mein Gedächtnis ist. Nicht nur "hab ich schon mal irgendwo gesehen", sondern, ich weiß schnell, wo genau, in welchem Jahr.

Ich habe viele Fotos gemacht. Fotos vom Gebäude. Fotos von der Kunst. Kombinationen.

Ich habe gedacht: Es bereitet bestimmt Freude, hier in diesen Räumen zu arbeiten. Es macht was mit einem, wo man arbeitet, was der Raum transportiert, wie die Einrichtung ist.

Die Sonne schien. Ich war mit dem Fahrrad da. Es war nicht voll. Ich habe mich vorher selbst mit Kunst, mit Kreativarbeit in der Ergotherapie befasst.

Eine gute Ausstellung bewegt was in mir. Will ich auch machen. Will ich aufgreifen. Will ich abstrahieren.

Nur die Stimmung in den gefliesten Klausenräumen gefiel mir nicht. War das Küche, Kühlraum, Waschraum? Was fand hier früher statt in diesem Trakt? Vielleicht wurde genau da wirklich viel gesoffen, viel Alk gelagert und das drückte dieses Unbehagen in mich. Frauenkunst. Und wo mich doch Quoten und geschlechtsneutrale, geschlechtsumfassende, geschlechtslose Pedanterie angehen, darf ich hier lernen, dass Feminismus nicht nur für Gleichberechtigung steht. Also auch eine Ausstellung für mich Randgruppenmitglied "Abstinente Alkoholikerin".

Und der Akku war so leer wie an Tag 1356. Aber das Handy stürzte nicht ab. Und ich hatte dasselbe Kleid an wie an Tag 1403. Aber ohne Leggings, ohne Strickjacke. Und ich war Single ohne tinder. Und ich war freier als all die Singles mit.

RIDDLES - Marguerite Humeau at Schinkel Pavillon [ENG]

Reanimating a mythical figure Marguerite Humeau uses the past to reread the present or at any rate to introduce a riddle. For her first institutional solo exhibition at the Schinkel Pavillion (Berlin) the artist conceived a new work developed specifically for the octagon’s transparent architecture. As part of a bigger work complex with the same name, that at first glance appears as an elegant installation of metal tubes and glass eyes after a while disturbs and disorientates us with a large quantity of shrill sounds and motion sensors. In a second the figure of a sphinx, a hybrid creature and guard, is transferred in the technology era so as to show itself as a metaphor of the modern surveillance. Thus we are introduced in a labyrinth of noises which underlines a list of terms that denies the concept of freedom (but somehow highlights the idea of “safety”) : protecting, following up, monitoring, archiving and scanning. But as subjects of an inspection, at the end will we really feel free and safe? Marguerite Humeau leaves us to solve the riddle.

DAY 18: Schinkel Pavillon

With its DDR architecture, the Schinkel Pavillon is a small gem in the center of Berlin, next to Unter Den Linden and the Island of Museums. 

Don't hesitate to ring the bell and go to the 1st floor to discover the exhibition of Eva Kot’átková "Anatomical Orchestra" and her surrealistic way of seing the human body using oversized instruments.
