“What about you Y/n?” You hear Morgan’s voice as you finish up your last report, adding it to the finished pile. You slide your chair towards his desk, Morgan’s foot stopping it before it hit Garcia’s legs. “Craziest thing you saw or dealt with in LA before you quit your job as a cop? Go.”
“Oh, um,” You chuckle. “I could probably go on forever. A lot of weird shit happens in LA.”
“Top 3?”
“Top 3? Okay, first I had a case where a woman killed her husband because he refused to leave their cottage in her name. When my partner and I investigated we found out that she buried him within the walls of their house.”
“Oh my god, no!” Garcia groans.
“Second has to be when I had my right hand inside a man’s chest for nine hours. He was in a really bad car accident and he wouldn’t have made it to the hospital in time so I had to open him up in the middle of the street in order to stop him from bleeding out.”
“That sounds so cool,” Emily beamed, her chin resting on her right hand.
“There goes my dinner,” Garcia spoke.
“His sternum was severely messed up which caused his heart and one of his big blood vessels to start bleeding into his stomach.”
“Wow! It sounds just like that episode from Grey's Anatomy where Meredith had her hand inside that guy's chest. Remember the one who had the bomb inside him? How did it feel to have your hand in someone’s chest?”
“One of my favourite episodes. Uh, it was umm sor- It was bloody and it got worse,” You shrug. “I passed out on the OR floor.” You chuckle thinking about the whole situation and how ridiculous it sounds saying it out loud.
Morgan and Emily crack up laughing as you shake your head. “Yeah, I remember that whole week being so chaotic but that took the cake.”
“Third?” Spencer asks.
“Oh, this one is top on my list. In 2016, there were killer clowns on the loose in Los Angeles.”
“Nah uh. Nope!” Morgan shakes his head as you notice him tense up at the mention of clowns.
“Morgan has coulrophobia,” JJ said giggling at Morgan.
“What really?” You asked, JJ nodded.
“Oh yeah, Morgan’s not a fan of Halloween, people in costumes or masks.”
“Listen,” Morgan put his hand out. “Costumes and masks give me the hibbie jibbies. Just no.”
“Hey everyone knows you're terrified of clowns but no one here knows why exactly you're terrified of them. What’s the story behind clowns?” Emily asks.
Morgan puts five fingers up. “I had evil older cousins.”
“Oh!!” Everyone laughs.
“Morgan,” You pat his shoulder. “I was traumatized by my older cousins too but don’t worry their all going to hell.”
“I just don’t like the way they look, with the red nose, and all that face paint and masks,” Morgan explains.
“You know the fear of clowns usually stems from the feeling of not knowing what’s going on underneath the mask or costume,” You still remember the words of your captain.
“I just don’t care. If I were to see a clown I will hands down punch it.” Garcia and you just laugh at how passionately Morgan seemed about his hate for clowns.
“2016 was a fucking weird year for LA. It started out as a harmless prank but people just took it too far. I think the LAPD arrested close to 2,000 clowns,” You sounded so ridiculous saying this out loud.
“I just glad weird fucking shit doesn’t happen here in Washington.”
“What would you do if a clown showed up at your apartment?” Spencer asked as
Morgan glared at him. “Why would you ever say such a thing?” Morgan spat, getting upset. “I’d probably kick its ass.”
“Morgan you're scared of like,” Emily waves her hand around. “Everything.” She laughs. “Remember that case we had NYC, and it was Halloween? You were so annoyed that people had decorations up.”
“Oh,” JJ faces lights up. “I remember that and the woman's husband who we were trying to find had a cage full of birds! Morgan, you were terrified of those birds!”
“Okay, can we not do this right now?!” Morgan looked annoyed.
“What’s your problem with birds?” You ask.
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Well, actually one time Mor-”
“Baby girl, don't you dare say a word!” Morgan warns her as Garcia puts her hands up.
“Hey! That’s not fair, how come Garcia knows the story but not the rest of us?” Emily asks.
“That’s because I was there,” Garcia sips her tea, looking over at you.
“What type of person is scared of birds?” Spencer asks, shaking his head as Morgan sat up in his chair.
“Reid, Reid don’t move but there’s a spider on your shoulder!” Morgan yells as Spencer jumps up from his chair, violently wiping his shoulder.
“GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF! EMILY!!” Spencer continues to move around as you all lose it watching Spencer running around frantically.
“Emily, is it gone?!” He asks, as Emily is holding onto her sides, JJ leaning into her as Garcia was wiping away tears. Morgan's face was tomato red from laughing as you felt like you couldn’t breathe. “Guys! This isn’t funny! Is it gone? Where is it? Please, ser-” You could hear the panic in Spencer’s voice.
“Spencer!” You called. “There was nothing there,” You say, giggling.
“What?”
“Morgan was just pulling your leg,” You playfully smack the back of Morgan’s head as he continues to laugh at Spencer distraught condition. Spencer glares over at Morgan as he grabs the small hand exercise ball off his desk and throws it, hitting Morgan in the face. Everyone bursts out laughing.
“What was that for?”
“For what you just did to me,” Spencer says, putting a hand on his chest.
“Why are you scared of spiders, pretty boy?” Morgan questions.
“I just don’t like them. All their legs and fu-” Spencer shutters at the thought of them.
“Did I ever tell one time Spen-”
“Morgan don’t!”
“Spencer called me over one time because there was a spider on his bedroom ceiling. When I got to his apartment, he was wearing doughnut and smiley faces boxers while trying to kill a spider with a mop.”
“Shut up, your lying!” Emily looks over at Spencer.
“That didn’t actually happen,” Spencer’s face was flushed red with embarrassment.
“Didn’t it?” Morgan holds out his phone, playing a video of Spencer trying to kill the spider.
“This is the best thing ever!” Emily exclaimed.
“YOU MADE A VIDEO?!” Spencer shrieked.
“And I’m not ashamed to admit that I watch it at least twice a day because that video right there is pure gold, baby!” Morgan cheers.
“Who else have you shown that to?” Spencer asked.
“Oh just you guys,” Morgan replies. “My sisters.”
“Oh my god.”
“My mom loved your smiley face and doughnut boxers.”
“YOU SHOWED THIS VIDEO TO YOUR MOM?!” Spencer exclaimed as Garcia kept replaying to the part where Spencer runs behind Morgan.
“Look at his face!” She yells as you and Emily grabbed onto each other from laughing so hard.
“One thing is for sure after watching this video,” JJ says. “Both Spencer and Morgan radiate so much chaotic energy off each other.”
“Yes!” You say, giving her a high five.
“Hey Y/n, did I ever tell you about the time Morgan showed up at my apartment drunk?” Spencer asks and you shake your head. “While wearing nothing but briefs.”
“I don’t think so.”
“Oh you wouldn’t!” Morgan threatens.
“Watch me!” Spencer leans over and whispers in your ear.
“OH MY GOD MORGAN! You look over at him. “Seriously?”
“What’s going on out here?” You hear a deep voice from behind you, turning around you see Hotch walking down the catwalk.
“How come I didn’t know about Morgan's dirty past?” You ask, folding your arm. Without even asking Hotch knew exactly what you were referring to.
“I’m unfriending you all,” Morgan points to everyone as Garcia leans into him, giggling.
“Everyone here knows a little bit too much about Morgan’s sex life,” Hotch points out.
“Hotch, not you too man,” Morgan groans.
Hotch leaned against Emily’s desk as he looks around at you all teasing and laughing with each other. Though Hotch could hear the laughter from his office, he couldn’t help but walk out and join the chaos. It was times like this, that Hotch was beyond thankful to have you all apart of his life. He could always count on you guys to add the sweet and spice to your guy's solemn life.
“What are you all still doing here? Your shift ended half hour ago,” Hotch looks down at his clock.
“Oh shoot!” JJ said, quickly grabbing her bag. “I gotta pick up Henry from my moms.” She bid her goodbyes and headed out.
“What about the rest of you? Don’t have any plans?”
“I have a date but that’s not until Wednesday,” Morgan says as you all just stare blankly at him. “At 7pm.” You smirk at him. “What?”
“Today is Wednesday you dumbass,” You said. “You just stood up your date by a half-hour.”
“Oh shit!” Morgan scrambled for his things, beelining for the elevator. “If I don’t get laid tonight, it’s all your guy's fault and drinks are on you guys for a whole month!” He yells behind him.
“Twenty bucks say his date going to cuss him off for being late, leaving him hanging,” You say.
“Forty bucks say that Morgan is going to get laid and that we’re all going to hear about over coffee tomorrow morning,” Hotch said dropping forty bucks on the table, walking away leaving you all in shock.

cleaning out through your closet you took a double take to what you had just found. It had been months since you cleaned out your closet, and quite honestly, you’d often get distracted and play with some random nothing for an hour postponing the process.
you giggled a little at the memory of the item as you reached for it and patted some dust off.
It was the bunny outfit.
the one that you had gotten for your Halloween costume last year that seemed to rather excite your boyfriend. at the memory you bit back a smile and felt a rush of blood to your cheeks.
‘I wonder why we stopped using it.’ you wonder, recalling how fun it was.
but then an idea hit you.
you took the costume to the laundry and put in it the wash in hopes of making it a bit nicer since it had been laying around for so long. After having it cleaned out you tucked neatly in your drawer and called your boyfriend to come over.
you jumped at the sound of the knocking at your door and suddenly you got butterflies. You nervously walk over to the door and open it, smiling.
“Hiii Eitaaa” you smiled giving him a big hug as soon as opening the door.
a smirk itched at the corner of his lips. “You missed me that much, bunny?” he asked, a hint of cockyness in his tone.
“I did” you pout, “but I guess if you don’t want my love, I’ll just go” you jokingly teased, closing the door holding your nose high and walking away. The smile that you were trying to tuck down showed itself obviously.
“Noooo, give me kisses, I’m sorryyy” 
you smiled again at how easily you could play with him.
“apology accepted! ” you giggled, planting three quick pecks on his lips.
“however,“ you quirked an eyebrow, “we must play a game for compensation.” You smiled, already excited to do this, although praying that he was the one that got his flip side of the coin.
“Oh, really? What kind of game?” he smiled, watching the gaze of you dramatically announcing it, causing the pit of his stomach to flutter a little, you were so cute.
“we’ll flip a coin, whoever gets the side that they call for and wins has to wear this outfit that I have tucked away in my dresser at the moment.” You had to bite back another huge smile when you saw the look on his face, curiosity itched all over his face. 
you knew just how to get him. Semi could never resist something like this, the curiosity getting the best of him.
“Oh?” he laughed, searching your face for an answer of what this could possibly be.
“Oh, indeed, Eita, oh, indeed.” you laughed, grabbing for a coin on your desk that had been simply laying there, conveniently enough.
“how about, tails you win, heads I lose.”
you quickly went on ahead before he could answer, hoping he wouldn’t catch on to your trick of him of being able to win no matter what, you giggled at his state at how fast you had moved on before he could answer.
you flicked the coin into the air, the pretty and clear sound of the metal rang through the air until you caught it.
“Oh, would you look at that, tails. that means you win baby!” you were excited but oh so nervous.
Semi smirked at your remark, “you thought I didn’t catch on with you little trick, bunny?” “I win either way if you put it as tails I win and head you lose.” he said, walking closer to you and now leveling his face down to you own. your cheeks painted red at his proximity, he was so close you could feel his breath. He just made you flustered so easily, it was ridiculous.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” you innocently remarked, breaking his eye contact to look up, his gaze still rested on your eyes regardless, still unmoving.
“how about you tell me what you want to see me wear so bad” he teased, trying to catch your eyes again.
“you wanna know?” you asked, now growing your own smirk of your own, causing Semi to fluster himself a little.
you grabbed hold of the bottom of his t-shirt and led him to your room, you stood in front of the dresser. “remember that bunny outfit?” you asked, watching his features as he recalled in his own head the outfit that he loved so much on you. “I do” he smirked, keeping a very pointed and meaningful look at you making you get butterflies again.
you opened the drawer and handed it to him. “I wanna see you wear it Eita.”
his face painted with shock for but a second before a smirk grew.
“Oh?” his tone heavy with meaning.
“you’re fucking kinky aren’t you y/n?” he asked, knowing exactly how to push your buttons.
“oh shut the hell up and put it on.” you pushed him, flustered at what he had said but yet still intrigued.
“hmm, okay, okay, i will. but,” he reached inside the dresser and took out the outfit holding it in his hands. “you have to ask nicer.” he smiled still trying to get as much of a reaction out of you as possible. his smile was anything but sincere and innocent. you knew what he was playing at.
“pleaseee, put it on for me?” you pleaded, your lips forming a small pout.
“good girl, go on and wait in the living room, i’ll put this on.” he instructed.
“oh, and bring out the polaroid.” he winked.
you did as he asked, taking out the polaroid from under you bed and going to the living room.
he did agree to this a lot faster than you thought he would, maybe you could get him to do other stuff and he would be okay with it.
an image of a maid outfit popped into your mind and you had to shake the thought away before it got you too excited again.
If anything you had a very vivid imagination.
a minute or two passed and you heard his voice from your bedroom, “are you ready for me?” he called.
“im ready!” you called back, excited to see.
Eita slowly opened the bedroom door and walked out and oh my god.
how did he manage to look beautiful with a bunny outfit on too?
your eyes traced the curves of his body and his muscles, his pretty hair decorated by a headband of bunny ears.
“woah..” you managed to accidently slip out as you took in the image of your boyfriend.
“oh? you liked this?” he asked, he turned around to show you the cute little bunny tail.
“oh my god eita, you look so hot” you flustered, hiding your face in your hands from embarrassment.
“take a picture of me with the polaroid, bunny.” he said walking up to you, his gaze on you made you feel small.
you picked up the pretty light pink pastel polaroid next to you and before you knew it, Semi picked you up too, you legs wrapped around his waist as he hauled you over to the bedroom.
he softly dropped you onto the bed, your legs still wrapped around his torso. ‘so we’re doing this?’ you thought. you pulled up the polaroid camera up, “say cheese!” you giggled.
“cheeseeee” Eita gave you his best sunshine of a smile, the camera flashed and you took the picture of him and his bunny outfit, you pulled out the picture and before you could look at it Semi threw the camera and the polaroid out of the way and clashed his lips on yours.

the thought had been crawling in your mind for days. you kept telling yourself that there was no way this would happen. there’s no way you could get the tsukishima kei to wear a bunny outfit. but you just couldn’t listen to yourself.
lately you’ve been watching him more closely. if he had noticed he hadn’t said anything. maybe he didn’t notice. it wasn’t on purpose, really. you just couldn’t help yourself. you would absently minded and subconsciously avert your gaze from anything you’re supposed to be putting your mind on and focusing on kei, daydreaming planning on a way to get him to put on a damn bunny outfit.
maybe this was wrong of you. you were his best friend after all, you had been for a very long time. but like said before, you couldn’t help yourself. because your lust for him was simply growing on its’ own.
you and tsukishima were both top in your classes and you studied together after school when he didn’t have volleyball to maintain that. you’d usually go to the public library which in all honesty was far too fancy of a place to even look like a public library, it was quiet and secluded, all of the books were in top shape and the walls decorated with expensive art of the renaissance era, with the occasional greek statue around the corner. totally normal for the average public library, i know.
it was another friday of just you and tsukishima studying in the library together. books and notes littered across the table that you two shared, you sat across from him. in the usual studing sessions that you guys did, you’d go around the table to sit next to him when you needed help with something. not today.
as per expected, you kept dazing off and paying no mind to the studies that you needed to catch up on. tsukishima glanced up to catch you staring at him, you gave him a wink and smirk to see how he’d react. the blondes cheeks tinted a slight blush, “what the hell are you looking at dumbass?”
“oh? i can’t look at my incredibly handsome best friend? i didn’t know that was a crime.” you smiled, resting your cheek on your hand, you elbow on the table.
“you haven’t been focusing at all have you?” he asked, glancing down to notice that you hadn’t barely gone through 2 pages of homework.
you groaned and let you face fall gently to your arms splayed out on the table. “i don’t want to study kei.” you moaned, looking up at him to catch his lips twitch. why’d his lips twitch? was it because you moa-
“you kinda have to dumbass, i don’t want to have to walk by you living in a street corner and have to take you in because you didn’t study.” he huffed, pushing your pen and notebook towards you.
“awee kei, you’d take me in if i was homeless?” you teased, feigning puppy eyes. 
“no, i’d leave you there and call the police to get you out of my sight.”
“no you wouldn’t.” you laughed.
“no i wouldn’t.”
you laughed and a small smile splayed on his features as he returned to his book. you keep watching him, the trace of your laugh still there with a smile. 
he pulled up from his book to look at you again, “if you ever needed my help i’d help you though.” he confessed, keeping his eyes on your own. now it was your own turn to blush softly. “thank you, kei.” he nodded, a soft smile still beautifully set on his lips.
in quite honesty this might be fate. the cards had been dealt to you beautifully. the stage was set perfectly. the words that he used, you could twist them beautifully into your favor.
“i don’t remember this equation kei.” you called out, turning your book to face him, you leaned forward instead of going around the table for him to explain to you. your ass was off the chair, setting a curve to your figure, your cleavage on display to him.
tsukishima looked up for his eyes to immediately meet with your boobs. you smirked, “eyes up here playboy.” 
tsukishima muttered an apology before stealing a glance again and then finally towards you and your notebook.
“uhh that’s the uhm,” he gulped, his face turning redder “well you have to find slope, you’re gonna have to use uhh, rise over run equals the y angle over the x angle which is y to the second pow- dammit y/n”
you feigned innocence, squishing your tits against the table and up again and looked up to him, “what is it? are you okay? oh, kei, baby, you’re face is all red, are you hot?”
tsukishima closed his eyes tightly and opened them again to look up to the light fixtures, “dammit y/n you keep... i- it’s not your fault i just... you’re distracting me when you’re like that.”

the taint of tsukishima’s blush was so apparent, there was no way to ignore it or try to hide it.

“a bunny outfit dumbass, i’ll put it on first if you wanna know how to put it on correctly, what do you say?” you asked, you gaze clouded with lust and a soft smile played upon your features that was in a way, almost predatory.
what the hell were you playing at? but the suggestion was far too intriguing. but the feeling of the thought of having his best friend suck him off felt wrong, you were his best friend since high school. he himself getting turned on and hard so quickly for you felt wrong. but the tightening in his pants pushed him over the edge that he couldn’t help himself to it. simply the thought of your pretty lips wrapped prettily around his-

Part 2
Walter pushed the bike through the door to his apartment, resting it against the back of the couch before looking up and realising you weren’t sat on the couch where he’d left you just a couple of minutes ago.
“The snow is really beautiful”
Turning to the sound of your voice he grinned as he pushed the door shut. You’d pulled the net curtain up and was kneeling on the other couch that sat in front of the window, your head tucked under the curtain to watch as the feathery flakes of snow fell on the outside world.

I speed typed this lil thing, because I got this request a few days ago, so I apologize if it isn’t very good. and that it’s kinda short. i only really checked over this once, so i’m sorry if there’s a lot of mistakes. i just really wanted to get it out today. happy easter to all those who celebrate!

Easter Sunday had become a big deal in the Karev household throughout the years. It’s love and intensity wasn’t nearly as close to the ever-so expensive Christmas, but it easily took over second place as the family’s favorite holiday. (For the kids at least. Jo and Alex would always love Halloween the most for many reasons.) They decorated their house’s outer appearance to the nines, complete with easter egg lights that stuck in the ground, small inflatables, signs, and the occasional plastic bunny or two. Hanging from the tree on their lawn were easter baskets that they had tied to a piece of string, full of fake grass and hand-dyed eggs in extravagant colors. Inside, they had set out the Easter themed tablecloth, and traditional candy from the holiday could be found inside of ceramic bowls in the shape of bunny’s.   
It came as no surprise when at exactly seven thirty in the morning, three children came bumbling into their room, feet heavy against the hardwood floors as they raced each other down the halls, eager to awake their parent’s first. They were told that they couldn’t wake up Alex and Jo earlier than that, or they would postpone the hunt. She takes six year old Holden into her arms, giving him a hug as well as she could while he tried to squirm away. Being in first grade meant that he was too cool to give hugs to his mom, but Jo refused to acknowledge that, and still hugged and kissed him like he was still the tiny baby that would snuggle in her lap at every given opportunity. Sometimes, when he refused to give her a hug before he went into class, she would shout an ‘I love you baby’ just to get back at him. It was petty, but it worked, because after enough times he had learned to give his mom a hug before class. 
“No mommy! The easter bunny came!” the boy protests, eventually escaping her grasp when he lands back on the floor, brushing a strand of too-long hair out of his eyes. Jo had been trying to set up a haircut for the past week, but they both were struggling to find enough time out to do so. It wasn’t like Holden was complaining, actually preferring the floppy hair more than he shorter haircut, but Jo said that he wasn’t going to look like his Uncle Link used to as a grown man. (Which Holden hated, since Uncle Link was seriously the coolest and he would definitely have floppy hair if the blonde used to as well.) 
“I know. Give me and Daddy a minute, and we’ll be right down. In the meantime, go see if the easter bunny ate all of his carrots, ‘kay?” Jo mumbles, rubbing her palms against her eyes in an attempt to rid herself of sleep faster. Footsteps then padded out of the room and down the stairs, excited chatters echoing through the halls of the house. 
Jo and Alex give each other a small, exhausted smile. They had been up until two thirty that morning, hiding eggs after both working fifteen hour shifts, and to say they were tired was an understatement. Bags hung heavy under both of their eyes, but they both knew it would be worth it when they would see the kids hunt for the plastic eggs. They lean in and connect their lips for a quick peck because they were both aware of their terrible morning breath. When they pull away they both crash back onto their pillows, taking a few seconds to let the tiredness leave their bodies before the start of an eventful day. Dragging themselves out of bed, they brush their teeth and try to make themselves at least somewhat put together so they didn’t seem like absolute zombies in front of their kids. Jo pulls her phone off her charger, tucking it into the pocket of her robe before they head down the stairs, the kids eagerly sitting at the island next to a plate of ‘bunny eaten carrots’ and a note. 
“Mommy we can’t read it. The writing’s too messy.” Blaire complains, waving the paper around, surely wrinkling it a bit in the process. 
Jo holds back a chuckle. Alex’s penmanship was barely legible on it’s own, let alone when he was practically so tired he could barely take a few steps without feeling like he could slump over whatever surface was available to him and take a nap. 
“Hmm,” Jo hums, taking the paper and squinting to read it, struggling herself to figure out the words on the note. “Blaire, Holden, and Chase, Happy Easter! I have hidden forty-five eggs around the house for you to find this year, fifteen for each of you. Chase’s eggs have spots, Holden’s have stripes, and Blaire’s are plain. All eggs are hidden in the kitchen, living room, and dining room. Make sure not to take any eggs that aren’t yours. Happy hunting! Easter Bunny.” Jo reads off. 
She folds the paper in half, placing it back down on the island. “Before you guys find the eggs, open up your baskets.” She points to the three different colored baskets that were on the table, each holding separate items based on their children’s current interests. They dig in quickly, each pulling out the candy first, marshmallow peeps, chocolate bunnies, and packets of Reese’s peanut butter cups eggs. 
Blaire grabs her basket first, the purple wicker one with hints of green, her face lighting up when she sees the book she’d been eyeing for weeks now and a new shirt that she had been begging for since she saw it online last month. 
Hudson lets out a boyish cheer when he pulls two video games out of his basket, pumping a fist and smirking. Jo gives Alex a relieved smile. New video games were coming out constantly, and it seemed like the second they got him the one that was on trend, it was being replaced by another game. So, for the two games about blowing random things up to still be considered ‘in’ was something they were both taking a large, silent victory about. 
Chase giggles when he pulls out a few toys, running over to Jo to show them to her immediately. He was easily the quietest of the three kids, tending to hide in Jo’s shoulder whenever meeting someone new or clutching onto his older sibling’s legs whenever they were out in public places like the park. “Look Mommy! T-rex!” he exclaims, trying to open up the box that held the green dinosaur. 
“I know baby! But you gotta go put it back now if you want to look for eggs,” Jo reminds him, placing a kiss on the top of his head, nuzzling her face in his hair. She savored these moments with her youngest, knowing that Chase was only getting older every day. Her and Alex both agreed that they were done at three, so with that she seemed to imprint every detail of Chase’s childhood to memory, taking more videos and pictures. It had gotten a little bit overboard at some times, but Alex knew where she was coming from so he never complained. They had both chastised themselves for not filming more things with their first two, sticking more to pictures, so they were making up for it with their youngest. 
The two year old toddles to the table, climbing back up to the chair with the help of his sister, pulling out more toys and setting them down beside his candy. Once the baskets were free of anything except the paper grass at the bottom Alex tells them that they can begin their search. 
“Blaire, help your brother.” Alex calls out from his spot on the couch, pulling Jo closer to him while she films the hunt, thankful that their house had an open floor plan so she could record moments like these. 
The girl nods, grabbing Chase’s tiny hand and bringing him along on her search, picking him up to reach eggs that were out of his reach. All of his spotted eggs had been significantly easier to find than the other two’s, something Hudson had complained about at first until Alex shot him a look that immediately made him close his mouth. 
“Aww c’mon I can hear the money in that one!” they hear Hudson complain, trying to reach for the egg in his sister’s hand. 
“No, it’s mine. Your’s have money in them too, you know.” Blaire argues back, putting the blue plastic egg in her basket, shooing Chase off to the couch since they had found all of his eggs already. 
“Daddy look. Eggs!” the young boy dumps his basket onto the couch, thankfully not cracking any open in the process. 
“Woah, good job buddy,” Alex ruffles his hair, shooting him a proud grin and pulling him onto his lap so he was now rested between him and Jo. “We’ll open them once Bee and bubs find all of theirs okay?” he reassures, making the toddler nod his head.
“Aww c’mon, can’t we trade? Just once?” Hudson pouts from the kitchen, holding out one egg in exchange for the one his sister had just put away.
Blaire smirks, eyes flicking to her mom for a brief moment before focusing back on her brother’s. “Fine. But I get to pick which egg.” Did he not know that the heavier ones were all coins and the lighter ones had dollars? Well if he didn’t, that worked in her favor. 
“No, you can’t trade.” Jo butts in, seeing what angle her daughter was trying to play. On one hand, props to Blaire, because Jo thought it would be another year before she made the very obvious connection, but on the other, she had assigned the kids certain eggs for this reason exactly. 
“But mom—” the girl starts, jutting out her bottom lip in hopes to let her mom let it slide. 
“—The Easter Bunny said that you can’t trade. I don’t know about you, but I want him to come back next year, and I don’t think he will if you guys don’t behave.” Jo tells them, raising her eyebrows to show that she was serious. 
Little Chase looks up at her with wide eyes. “No! Bunny come back!” 
Alex quickly reassures him, pulling Chase closer to him and giving him a squeeze. “Don’t worry bud, he’ll come back. Bee and bubs are just being big buttheads right now so Mommy needs to knock some sense into them.” he knows that the boy didn’t understand half of what he said, but he feels a grin split across his face when the toddler erupts into giggles. 
“Buttheads!” he laughs, smiling so widely that Alex can’t even pretend to hold back chuckles of his own. 
“Yep, buttheads. But don’t say that word, it’s not very nice. Only mommies and daddies can say butthead.” he clarifies. The last thing he needed was Jo knocking him upside the head because their son was the only baby in daycare to say bathroom words. 
Minutes passed, the two older children looking for eggs around the house, climbing up on tables and chairs no matter how many times Alex and Jo told them that they weren’t hidden inside of the light fixtures. 
When both kids had found their eggs, they bounced back to the couch, dumping their eggs on the cushions and immediately cracking them open, cheering every time they got a dollar versus coins. Chase didn’t have money in his eggs, but rather jelly beans, something he liked much more than change. (two year olds had no need for money, and jelly beans were something much more fun than coins) 
In the end, the two of them had gotten one twenty, two tens, three five’s, and five one’s. Chase had a mountain of multi colored jelly beans gathering on the coffee table. A bit much? Yes. But they liked to splurge on holidays like these. They didn’t just become surgeons because they wanted to save people. (That was the main reason, but they both agreed that healthy paychecks did make a big decision in deciding their career path when they were younger. Now? Now it was all about saving lives, the money was just a nice bonus.) 
“I can get a new game!” Holden cheers, tossing his dollar bills up into the air as if it was ‘raining money’. In his eyes, he was rich now. Sixty bucks and change? Next step was becoming a millionaire.  
Jo scrunches her brows, looking at the boy confused. “You just got two new ones?” she clarifies. Were there seriously more games that he wanted to get?
“Yeah, but they just came out with a new Call of Duty,” the boy smirks, as if the answer was obvious.
Jo groans, showing her obvious dislike of the game. Normally, she was all for virtually blowing things up and killing fake people, but the game seemed just a bit too mature for a six-year old. She would just have Alex play with him in the beginning to make sure it wasn’t too bad she guessed. 
She claps her hands together a large smile painting her lips. She gets up from her seat and grabs three bunny ears headbands from a table in the entryway. “Put these on, and I’m gonna take a picture of you guys. After this we can get ready to go over to Auntie Mer’s for waffle Sundays, okay? If you guys are good, Daddy might make them into easter shapes” she grins as she hands each of the kids a pair of ears, only Blaire looking displeased at having to wear them. She gives her daughter a look, which makes her huff and reluctantly put on the shiny purple ears.
Alex ushers Chase off of his lap and into line with his siblings, Jo placing the blue ears on his head, matching his basket. She smiles wide, putting the kids side by side. 
She pulls out her phone, opening up the camera app and putting it on portrait mode. “Okay, on the count of three, say ‘Little Bunnies’!” she’s met immediately with groans, Hudson telling her ‘no’ the second he hears it. She’d been trying to get them to say it for years, but each time she got the same response. Insanity, Alex told her year after year with a crooked smirk, Is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. He always followed with, You’re basically insane for thinking that they’re gonna wanna be called bunnies if they didn’t last year. Plus, they always see it coming. It’s been happening for years now. 
“It was worth a shot,” Alex pipes in, pulling Jo into him, resting his head against hers, not even bothering to hide his smile at the scene in front of him. 
“Okay, fine. On the count of three ‘Happy Easter’. Sound good?” she confirms, earning nods from all four of the Karev’s. 
“One, two three!”
“Happy Easter!”

Chapter 9: I Sense There’s Something in The Wind (Part 1)
Summary: Life in Jackson is never easy. Consoling angsty teenagers, wading through the mysterious waters of Joel’s romance language and with a child of your own on the way? Life is about to get a lot harder.

A/N: *sigh* so much has happened since I last updated. School royally beat me up, I’m constantly tired and have no motivation to write, left a toxic boyfriend! Life has not been kind to me recently but I am trying my best to live it up and learn, but at least I am doing well in school. Sacrifice your sanity to do well in school I guess. I got a guitar too.. okay now I’m just rambling. Updates will be slower as time continues. Constantly fatigued and getting four hours of sleep a night doesn’t work well.

Life was quiet until the festival and party, like it had been for months prior. Decorations were put up, apples were picked from the orchards just outside town, costumes were made, pumpkins carved, ghost stories told. The festival was only two days, the first day being the children’s night and day activities, the second being the Halloween party.
Maria gave everyone who’s job wasn’t totally necessary the day off. Which meant the bar closed. You were more than happy to have two days of rest. You purchased two pumpkins this year, carving a ghost into one and a goofy face into another, you were going to light them the night of the party. The first day of the festival — children’s night, where the kids threw a mini parade around town in their costumes and carved pumpkins and got a free bar of candy from the confectionar. They played games, ghost in the graveyard being a popular one when it got dark outside, of course however, Maria limited their playing field. You watched the parade during the day and then you went home. The kids made makeshift noise makers and adults lined the streets as the kids walked by, laughing, smiling, shouting, it was all good fun.
You weren’t sure whether you were going to dress up or not, no ideas came to mind. Last year you went as an angel and a devil with Mark, hence his nickname Devil Boy, his birthday was October 30th, the first day of the celebration.
Today was his birthday. You hadn’t spotted Joel or Ellie at the parade, you briefly said hi to Maria and Tommy, as well as Dina. You were sure Ellie and Cat were dreading cleanup, as well as the other teenagers. You wondered if Ellie and Dina had made up yet, or had her and Cat.
After the parade, there wasn’t much to do. You took down the flowers on your porch, you trimmed the bushes outside, cut the grass, washed the windows, dusted the house, scrubbed the floors. Your house was beginning to feel lively again, like a brand new fresh start. It took a few hours to complete all your tasks, taking short breaks in between. By the time you were finished, night had fallen. You were nervous about tomorrow, were things going to end up like the last night you had spent with Joel? Mark was gone.. you didn’t need to worry about him. Were you ready for that? Sure, you had asked for him to take you.. but were you ready to go that far? There was uneasiness between both of you, feelings wouldn’t change that. You would have to talk, have him listen, pray he would understand. Was now a good time to tell him everything?
You rested your hand over your bump as you sat on the couch, watching an old soap opera you had on DVD. The baby was definitely getting bigger. It was hard to think about it, but a small part of you was excited. There was the thought of names, baby clothes, toys. You wondered if it was a girl or boy. It was strange to think of a baby who looked like Mark.. it would be hard to look at the baby and not see him in his final moments. You already occasionally thought you saw him for a fleeting moment, down the corner of the street, in the crowd of the filled bar, a passerby holding themself the same way he did.
How would you even tell Joel? There was so much you needed to say, there was time, there was just too much that needed to be said. Joel had enough on his plate, maybe you wouldn’t tell him at all and continue on for the rest of your life blissfully ignoring him. That was too cruel though. Your relationship with Joel was.. complicated. You left things off for three months on an unfinished note, at least he was open to going on a date with you.
There were other people to tell too. If you gave birth, people would begin asking around for Mark. The truth would come out eventually. You always knew it would. Perhaps you will have thought of a lie by then. Perhaps he left to join a group of free spirited clicker killing hippies. That seemed like a good enough lie as any.
But for now, you wanted to rest. You wanted to sit back and watch the tide roll in, without a worry in your mind.

“Welcome miss..?” The man began.
“Y/N,” You replied, reaching out your hand to shake his.
“Tommy. Welcome,” He smiled warmly. You had finally found the esteemed settlement after weeks of travel.
“Mark,” Mark said, shaking Tommy’s hand, marveling at the sight of the town. Tommy had stopped you while you checked in and got acquainted with the town, already having a talk with Maria.
“Where you guys coming from? Always good to see some new faces round here.”
“I’m from Denver,” Mark told him.
Tommy’s face paled very slightly, not even you or Mark noticed.
“How are things there? Heard some stuff went down a while back.”
“Not too sure, I left right when things got messy.” He shrugged nonchalantly.
“And you?” Tommy looked towards you, waiting for your response.
“Oh, all over. Living on my own last few years, besides Mark here of course.” You beamed at Mark.
“How did you two meet?” This was starting to sound more like an interrogation, but you pushed it to the side, they were only being cautious. Maria already heard your and Mark’s story, others would want to as well.
“I found her a few months ago, passing through a town when I saw a group get overrun by a horde. I was trying to hide in an apartment building when I fell right into her camp. Almost blew my head off, but hey, gotta stay sharp,” Mark chuckled.
“He told me about a settlement up in Wyoming, I decided it was worth a shot so we ended up here, had nowhere else to go,” You finished.
“Well glad you two made it safe and sound, welcome to Jackson.”
You woke up in a coldsweat, dazed from sleep. Your hand on your bump, you realized, you must have done it in your sleep.
Mark. His baby. You glanced over at your clock. 11:34 PM. Technically still his birthday.
Last year, you managed to find vintage band posters for him for his birthday. You made him cake too, then you snuck out and went to the lake and watched the stars. They looked different than what you remembered, even though you lived under them, there was something serene about being there. Silence, waters reflecting the moonlight, and stars, the only thing you could see for miles. It was peaceful, quiet, yet it was full of life.
And so when you found yourself climbing the steps into his loft, sitting on his dusty bed with his dog tags resting on your neck, the moonlight streaming in from the curtains, just a sliver open, far enough to see a star. Perhaps they looked the same, maybe they were the same. Maybe you were the one who had changed.
“I’m pregnant,” You whispered into the silence.
“I’m pregnant and it’s yours, Mark.”
No echo, no cabinet slamming shut down stairs, no creaking footsteps. Silence.
“Happy birthday,” You said out loud as you closed the door.

The night of the party, you lit your pumpkins when it got dark and headed to Joel’s house. You hadn’t seen much of him since he had been over, you talked to him briefly one morning, but your schedules were always conflicting. You were nervous about seeing him. Being close to him again.
You found an old cat costume from years ago. A cat headband, a clip on tail, all black clothes. It was simple enough. Since you had been wearing Mark’s dogtags so much, you decided to opt with them, not wearing them felt like you were missing some part of yourself. You doubted Joel would dress up, he wouldn’t be out of place if he didn’t, and you wouldn’t be out of place in your costume either. It was 50/50.
You were surprised to see pumpkins out by Ellie’s house as you entered through the gate, your heart strumming loudly. It looked like she had carved some strange face into a pumpkin, you would have to ask her what it was supposed to be later.
You knocked on Joel’s door, starting down at your shoes, the cold air nipping at your skin. He answered almost immediately.
“How do I look?” You said smugly, turning so he could see your tail, doing a little twirl as you did. He wasn’t wearing a costume — like you expected.
“Dashing. You ready to go?” He smiled.
“Of course. Let’s go.”
It was an exceptionally short walk to the church and bonfire. Jackson was a small city, especially considering Joel lived right next to Main Street. They had decorated the streets quite nicely, pumpkins, hay bales, corn stalks, squash, a warm glow seemingly in every window. The leaves twirling around like fire.
The church came into view, the bonfire in the backyard of the church. Groups of people walked in, you could hear the music from here. Joel walked close to you, which you noticed. Close enough, but far enough to not be super suspicious.
He held the door open for you, the music becoming loud as he did. Mark told you once that he loved the rhythms of music, that he could feel the pulse in him, that’s why he liked music so much. Perhaps you could get the person in charge of music to play Bill Withers..
Shit. What if someone asked about Mark? Would they notice? What would you even say? That he was sick? How long until someone would really go looking for him?
Would Joel notice your small bump? You tried to wear baggy clothes. You didn’t have to worry about Maria spilling your secrets — she was trustworthy.
Inside of the church, the party was booming. It smelt of cinnamon and leaves, whiskey and good times. It seemed like all of Jackson was there. People in simple costumes, others dressing normally. You spotted Maria and Tommy, Tommy nodded at you two when you entered.
The song they played was very folksy and upbeat. A crowd had already started dancing, you couldn’t stop the smile from spreading on your face. No sign of Ellie, but you did spot Cat, as well as Jessie and Dina. On opposite sides of the room of course.
“So, what do you want to do? Drinks?” Joel asked as he led you to the side of the room.
“Oh no, I’m good for now, but don’t stop yourself from getting one.” .
“Sure thing,” Joel replied, setting off to the makeshift bar table that was set up.
You watched the people dance, remembering how Mark used to pull you into the circle.
“Come on Y/N! It’ll be fun!” Mark laughed, trying to pull you over to the circle.
“Nope. I’m not doing it.”
“Well you’re going to. I don’t care, you have to.” He yanked you forward, pulling you to the dancefloor.
You stood stiffly as a rock. You felt like every eye in the room was on you, even though you really knew they could care less, caring more about nursing a drink or trying to hear the latest gossip.
The music was upbeat and fast, good dancing music. He slowly began to dance, one eyebrow cocked to invite you to join him. The room was orange and bright, it seemed like it was glowing.
“Come on,” He said with a singsong tone. Grabbing your arm and shaking it to the beat.
His dancing became more loose and free, smiling the entire time, a twinkle in his eye. He took your arm and twirled you and leaned you into his arms.
“It’s pretty easy.”
“Not for me,” You grumbled as the music ended.
A slower song came on and Mark groaned, his devil horns tilted slightly on his head. “Alright, looks like we have to slow dance now.” He grabbed your arms and locked them around his neck, then placed his hands on your waist. His hands were like tiny firecrackers on you, every touch sparking as his fingertips gently rubbed against your hips. He was passion.
“You know it’s easier if you just give in.”
“Never,” You hissed playfully.
“Well then just sway with me. That’s all we gotta do, sway,” He told you softly. You rolled your eyes, but you gave in.
The music channeled through him. You liked watching it overcome him, his eyes becoming distant like the music was speaking to him.
“Do you think everyone is looking at us?” You asked, glancing around the room.
Mark gently returned to the surface, “Why would they be looking? Only you and me and the music right now.”
You fought the urge to kiss him. You didn’t want people looking. You had kissed him so many times before, but there was that nagging feeling in you. Like a shadow that trailed you. A thought pushed to the back of your mind.
As if on cue, Mark’s eyes trailed lower to your lips, he leaned in gently to you, as if he were to break under your touch. His lips met yours and a heavy feeling underneath a spark set in. An undercurrent of rapid waters that threatened to pull you under.
Who was watching you?
Joel came back with his drink, a glass of whiskey.
You glanced over at the drink, humor in your voice, “Heavy hitters so soon?”
Joel chuckled lightly, taking a sip from his drink.
“You sure you don’t want anything?” He asked you. You shook your head.
“Alright well a few more drinks and I’ll be out there on the dancefloor in no time.”
“Didn’t take you as much of a dancer, cowboy.”
“Oh, I’m not. More like a dying chicken with its head cut off,” He laughed, shaking his head. Couples bounced to the music. You couldn’t remember ever having seen Joel dance, then again at parties you were almost always preoccupied.
“Do you want to head outside to the bonfire?” You asked him, seeing the glow through the windows.
“Yeah.”
You led him to the backyard where the more mellow crowd was. It was crisp outside, and awfully cold, you wished you would had brought a better jacket.
The sky was crystal clear and the stars were brilliant. The only truly good thing you could think of that came out of the apocalypse was no more light pollution. The stars were true and had looked that way for years.
The fire was large and powerful, it crackled and hissed but the warmth was inviting. Groups of people chatted around the fire, Joel led you to a fallen log by the fire where you could sit.
The party chatter and the muffled sound of the music could still be heard from outside, the looming walls right next the church wasn’t the best view, but the stars were all you needed.
“Nice night, huh?” Joel asked, looking up to the sky.
“Yeah,” You said, your teeth chattering slightly. You rubbed your hands together and aimed them towards the fire. Joel had brought a jacket at least.
“Do you want my jacket?”
You blinked. “No, no, it’s fine, I’ll just uh..” You trailed off, you wanted his jacket.
Joel chuckled quietly, shaking his head. He shrugged off his leather jacket and placed it around you. You felt your cheeks grow warm, and it wasn’t just because of the fire, you turned your head away and looked down briefly.
You looked back up at the stars, receiving courage from those little stamps of light. You leaned your head against his shoulder. He was warm, he felt safe, like a blanket wrapped around you. It was a natural feeling. You pulled his jacket up so it covered your neck. You wanted to stay like this forever.
God, you wanted to kiss him. You wanted to tilt your head up and place a gentle kiss on his lips. You wanted to kiss him in front of the stars, you wanted to kiss him in front of the fire, you wanted to kiss him on the dancefloor. You wanted to kiss him, you wanted to feel the way he felt against you, you wanted to share that sacred feeling like you’re the only two people in the world again.
But no, you couldn’t. Three months and you ghosted him. He was rightly upset with you. There were things you had to say. But he was here now, going on a date with you, giving you his jacket. The feelings were still there it seemed. A part of you was relieved.
You let yourself fully relax, he placed an arm around your shoulder.
You stayed like that for awhile, simply watching the fire crackle and the stars twinkle. Time was no foe anymore.
In a way it felt like Mark was there too, maybe it was the fact that it was Halloween, maybe it was the strange imbalance of practically everything in your life. It felt like he was there and he was smiling at you.
Joel was smiling too.

A/N: I love Halloween so here’s a Halloween fic it is scary. I hope Im pretty happy with this fic and I hope you all are to, I hope it’s puts you in the scary Halloween spirit.

Steve was sitting on his couch, like usual his parents weren’t home. When Steve saw me he started to clam up, it immediately made my suspicions shoot sky high. He either was up to something or he did something he did without asking me. I guess I was about to find out which one it was.
“Hey Steve how was your day babe?”
Steve looked at me, smiled slightly, shrugging his shoulders at me.
“It was okay I just missed you at school today.”
I smiled, I walked over to him.
“Awe baby it’s okay I just had a doctors appointment, but I’ll be there tomorrow.”
I smiled at him, I plopped on the couch beside him. I leaned on his shoulder, he kissed my forehead letting out a sigh.
“So Babe I might as well tell you I told some of our friends we’d go to a party they are throwing on Halloween.”
I lifted my head up off of him, I let out a groan.
“Steve, why would you do that? You know how I feel about your friends. Are Nancy and Johnathan gonna go?”
He looked down at me, shrugged his shoulders. He ran his fingers through his hair, stood up from the couch, walked over to the phone then punched in the numbers.
“Hey Johnathan Y/N was wondering if y’all were going to the party tonight?”
“Oh okay well I’ll tell her. Yeah alright I’ll see you around bye.”
Steve hung the phone up, he turned to look at me.
“Sorry babe they can't, they already had plans.”
“It’s okay I’ll guess I’ll just go for you babe.”
He kissed my lips, then walked to the kitchen. I stood up, walked into the kitchen kissing his lips.
“You owe me Harrington.”
It was finally Halloween, Steve and I had woken up early enough to go get last minute pieces for our costumes. We had a party to go to tonight. It was at an abandoned farm, a couple of our friends were going, so we’re we. Now it was out of town, but Steve and I didn’t mind. Plus it was a weekend so neither one of us was worried about school, or homework. Steve and I were surprising each other with what we were going to be. I was going as Madonna, all I knew told me he was going to look hot. Which I already knew, I mean not that he needed to try to look hot. He was already hot well at least to me, every other girl at Hawkins.
So you can imagine the disappointment the girls had when they found out we were dating. Steve was currently in our bathroom changing, I was in the hallway bathroom changing. I heard footsteps go past the bathroom, stopping right in front of the door then I heard Steve's voice.
“Hey babe I’ll be in the living room when you get ready.”
“Okay Steve I’ll see you in a few.”
I finished my hair, I pulled on my skirt some. I then unlocked the bathroom door, I stepped out into the hallway. I walked into the living room, I saw Steve my eyes widen as the sleeves of his shirt hugged his arms, god it made me wanna hop his bones. I had more self control than that though, but Steve on the other hand his mouth was gaped open. His eyes were looking all around my body, he smiled at me and walked over to me.
“Y/N you look hot.”
My cheeks heated up, Steve kissed my cheek. Steve and I walked out the front door, he locked up, and we were off to the car. Something felt off, but I just shrugged it off. I mean a lot of bad things happened in Hawkins so I had to get used to not feeling completely okay anymore. As we drove closer and closer to the party I felt like we should be heading in the other direction. At the same moment a car sped past us, laid on his horn which made me jump halfway off my seat. Steve had looked at me, put his hand on my thigh.
“Hey Y/N are you okay?”
I looked over at him, nodded my head.
“Yeah Steve I’m fine I just… there’s just a feeling inside of me that we shouldn’t be going to this party.”
“Oh okay princess well if you want to go home we can.”
I looked at him, smiled and shook my head at him.
“No no it’s okay I’m sure I’m just being dramatic.”
He looked at me, raised his eyebrows.
“Are you sure cause I don’t mind turning around.”
“No no Steve it’s okay I promise I’m fine.”
“Okay if you insist Y/N.”
The rest of the car ride was pretty fun, it honestly eased my mind. It was like Steve was my anxiety cure.
I couldn’t ask for a better way to help calm me. When we pulled up to the barn my anxiety was back. The barn was a brick red like it had just been painted. The house was also kept in good condition I mean besides the grass. I’d love to live here with Steve one day but I honestly didn’t want to rush it.
College was in two years, I didn’t want to go to a different college as Steve I wanted us to be with each other. I gripped Steve’s hand tightly, he looked down at me. He smiled, kissed my forehead and I took a deep breath. The farm was beautiful except the grass which looked like it hadn’t been cut in a few months, It just looked abandoned. Steve and I walked into the back yard, we saw The huge corn field. It was really intimidating.
The only people I knew here were Emma, Josh, Tommy H, Carol, Jack, Ashley, Steve and I, but people sure did show up. If I had to guess I would say at least 500 students had showed up. I saw all types of costumes, I was excited but one guy held my attention. He was standing against the drink table, he was just staring at everyone. He wasn’t interacting, but he was probably one of the guys who thought they were too cool to party.
As the night went on the party had died down slowly but surely. Steve and I were slow dancing, he looked down at me, he smiled pushing some of my now deflated hair out of my face.
“I told you, you’d have a fun time Y/N.”
I looked up at him, let out a drunken snort.
“Did you basically just tell me you told me so Harrington?”
He cracked a smile, kissed my lips.
“Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t.”
Steve kissed me again then pulled away, he got close to my ear and raised his voice so he could be heard over the music. I nodded my head. I watched him drunkenly stumble away, after he stumbled a little bit into the corn I felt eyes on me. At first I convinced myself that I was just over reacting, but then the feeling became stronger. Not only did I feel eyes on me but I felt tension. So I turned around and I saw him. It was the same guy who was leaning on the drink table. He was just staring at me. I smiled lightly, waved at him. He turned away from me, he walked into the cornfield.
*Killers pov*
I heard a car door shut, I walked to the side of the window. I barely looked out of it, I saw a group of teenagers walking towards the cornfield. I grabbed my knife, as the last kid went into the cornfield I followed them. They had walked about a mile and a half into the field. When they finally got to the party area I saw four huge speakers around the perimeter, the music was blaring. There were drinks being poured, food being eaten. I watch from behind the corn, I’d figured I’d show these kids how to party.
It took awhile for the other teenagers to separate from one another, I knew who my victims were going to be. A young guy who didn't look any older than 17 wandered off, I quickly followed him. It’s not like anyone knew I was here, I knew the paths in the corn maze because I lived here. I grabbed my knife, while he was peeing I walked up behind him slitting his throat from ear to ear. I watched his lifeless carcass lay there unable to move, I watched the life slowly fade out of his eyes. I drug his body where I knew no one would look.
After I knew his body wouldn’t be recovered I went back to the group, I hid the knife in my hoodie pocket. I walked over to the drink table, that’s when I saw a Y/H/C haired girl with a brown haired boy. The girl was staring at me. She smiled tightly, continuing with their night. Little did they know mine just started and it wasn’t going to end anytime soon. I drank a few drinks, I saw the girl that was with the guy I killed went looking for him. I knew she was going to be my next victim, I didn’t have any remorse about who I killed. I didn’t care who I was taking them from.
I can just say they all were at the wrong place at the wrong time. I had only one goal and that was to kill them all. There was a couple here who I knew would be my last victims, and that was the boy dressed as Han Solo and the girl dressed as Madonna. They looked like they’d be fun to torture, but the only question was which one of them would be my last victim? My focus was back on the girl who was dressed as some work out girl. I snuck up behind her, I covered her mouth stabbing her in the back. I slid the knife out, jammed it back in.
After her body went limp I let her hit the floor, I drug her body further in the shed. I cut off her hands, then I continued to dismember her body. When I was done I cleaned myself off, the knife when I rejoined the party, no one seemed to notice that two of their friends had disappeared. I noticed some of the kids started to leave as it got later, I was honestly relieved when I saw my planned victims still here. So I decided it was officially time to play. I loved playing cat and mouse especially with people who had no idea that they were the mouse.
As the night went on the more teenagers died. I made some of my own Halloween decorations. One kid was my official scarecrow, let’s just say he was definitely going to scare people away. His death was my favorite death so far. The way his neck cracked when I broke it gave me a thrill, the way I felt him struggle against me made my adrenaline race. I wanted more, I needed more and I was far from done. There were only six teenagers left. Four girls and four guys, but I had to be smart about this if I just popped out they could all take me on easily. So I went into the bar, I grabbed the knife. After getting that I circled around to the front of the house where their cars were parked, walked up to their cars digging my knife into all sixteen tires.
Now they were stuck here with me, the best part was they didn’t have a clue. I snuck back to the party, I noticed a couple was missing. I went to the bar, grabbed the Axe that was hanging near the handsaw, pitchfork. I walked out the back of the barn, came face to face with a guy. Before he could even think I swung the axe, his head went flying across the yard, near the huge oak tree. The girl which I’m guessing is his girlfriend came out from the other side of the shed, when she saw her boyfriend's head near the tree she screamed. I quickly walked over to her, punched her in the face striking her left temple.
I drug her body to the root of the three, and start stomping her head on the root. I could hear her teeth break as I stomped, I picked her head up by her hair, and started viciously beating her face against the tree. It was satisfying to hear her nose break. The more I beat her face the more her bones broke. Soon enough as blood trailed from her eyes, mouth, and ears her skull cracked, pieces of Brain went all over the place. At this point I didn’t need to hide the bodies anymore. They couldn't escape even if they tried, I picked up the axe I had, then I put more of the teenagers bodies up as decorations. I cut the guy's eyes out, I used him as a Jack O’lantern. I sat the girl at a table that was in another section of the cornfield.
I guess you could say it was like a maze, but these teenagers were smart. They knew their way in and out of an easy corn maze, but what they weren’t expecting was their friends to be so hands on with the maze. Now all I had to do was lure the last two couples away from my last two victims, I was good to go. I walked into the corn maze, back to the party. I whispered something, the drunk girl turned towards me, I backed up into the corn maze. Of course she followed me, the alcohol made her curious and it got the best of her.
As soon as she stepped into the corn I killed her. As I drug her towards the table with the good China on it I sat her in the chair. Sitting her up as a decoration, I fixed the fingers that I chopped off and put them on a plate, I used the other empty plate for their ears. Now we just needed “tea” to finish the decorations, so that’s what I intended to do next. As I snuck back to the cornfield a guy saw me, I was covered in blood. He immediately took notice. He told his friends, but they didn’t believe him in fact they laughed at him. The guy got mad, walked off.
As he walked off I heard my last two victims talking to my next two.
“Can you believe that guy Tommy?”
“Yeah I know Steve he really thinks we are that stupid to feed into his Halloween prank?”
I didn’t hear the rest cause I walked away. I knew the last two guys' names were Tommy, and Steve. I heard footsteps near me, I turned seeing the guy who had walked off immediately. He hit me, I tasted a rich copper taste in my mouth. I quickly wiped at my lip, struck him in the throat. As he was gasping for air I grabbed his head, I raised my knee slamming his face directly into the center of my knee. The force sent his body back, he was lying on his back. I grabbed his feet, drug him to the same exact spot I did the last girl, but when he started to wake up I punched him in his temple, I opened his mouth, cut out his tongue. I leaned him over the big tea pot, let the blood flow into it.
As soon as I felt his pulse slowing down I dressed him up in overalls, put a straw hat on him. I dressed the other two couples up to match him, I knew it was time to get this over with. I poured the blood in each cup, I put their hands on the tea cups. I walked back to the shed, grabbed a few weapons that would make this process faster, but how they died would still be on my terms. I grabbed the pitchfork, I hid it under some of the hay that was in the maze. After setting the next few traps it was time to reveal myself, I was near the entrance of the party. The first to see me was the girl dressed as Madonna. She grabbed the boy dressed as Han Solo, then he got the attention of the other two. As soon as they all saw me I pulled out the machet.
it took them a minute to figure out why I had a machete, but when they did I could see the panic set in. They split up, I couldn’t have been happier. My focus wasn’t on Steve and the girl, but it was focused on Tommy and his girlfriend. I walked towards them, they ran down the other opening of the maze, well I knew that was going to happen, I followed them. Tommy was running, I just stood there. I knew what was going to happen, sure enough it happened. Tommy had tripped on some fishing line I put up, his face met my pitchfork. His girlfriend let out a scream, I heard the other two calling For her.
“Carol? Carol where are you?”
Carol looked at me, wiped the tears from her cheeks.
“Why are you Doing this?”
I smirked at her, I walked slowly towards her.
“Oh carol you think I need a motive? It’s scarier when you don’t have one.”
I smiled at her, she took off. I ran after her though. She was almost close enough to grab. so I pushed her down, but when I turned her around she threw dirt in my face, kneed me in the balls. I immediately dropped, wiped the dirt out of my eyes. As soon as my vision came back I stood up, and was on the hunt. As soon as I turned the corner Carol popped out, smacked me with a wood beam. This little bitch wasn’t going down without a fight, if it was a fight she wanted it was a fight I was going to give her. When she went to swing the beam again I ducked, and stabbed her in the leg.
She let out a scream, I stabbed her in the cheek. As I pulled the knife out she grabbed her cheek, spit blood in my face. I grabbed her by her hair, she was a fighter but she wouldn’t win against me. I brought her back to the shed, I lined her up with the hook that was hanging in the shed, I lifted her up then shoved her body on the hook. She let out a gut wrenching scream, I put the wood chipper under her. I went to look for the other two.
*Readers pov*
I ran with Steve, we hid behind the tractor. I heard Carol scream, I jumped slightly grabbing Steve's hand. Tears had formed in my eyes when I heard her scream. He was touring her. Steve had peaked around the tree, saw him going into the cornfield. Next thing I knew we were heading towards the shed. We saw Carol hanging, my hand flew over my mouth. I couldn’t imagine the pain she was in, Steve and I went over to her, she was limp. When we started trying to get her down she let out a scream. I jumped slightly, Steve was trying to get her to be quiet. As soon as Steve almost got her down the woodchipper turned on.
As soon as Steve had gotten Carol down she struggled and he lost his grips her body went into the woodchipper, blood flew all over me. I closed my eyes as her warm blood flew all over me. As soon as I opened them I saw pieces of her body all over the place. As soon as I went to say something the back of the shed was kicked open, there was the killer. Steve grabbed my hand, ran towards the cars. As soon as we got there we saw the tires were flat. Steve looked at me, I looked towards the house.
“Steve we need to get into the house.”
Steve looked at me, raised his eyebrow.
“Y/N are you crazy that’s the first place he’s going to look.”
I let out a sigh, then looked at Steve.
“Well Steve we don’t really have much of an option now do we?”
He sighed then nodded his head.
“Alright let’s go, quickly so he doesn’t know where we went.”
As we walked up the porch Steve had grabbed the door knob, the door opened. It felt too easy, I was right as soon as we opened the door the killer grabbed me. Steve looked at us both, then put his hands in the air.
“Hey, hey she’s an easy kill you don’t want her. If you want someone who’s going to give you a fight it’s me.”
As soon as Steve had the killer's attention I stomped on his toe, head butted him slamming the side of my head into him, when he let go I faced him, kicked him in the knee cap making him fall. His knee hit the step, his chin hit the top step. Steve and I rushed inside, shut the door. Steve ran into the kitchen, I was right behind him. Steve grabbed a knife, I couldn’t find a weapon. So I grabbed a cast iron skillet. As soon as the killer stepped into the kitchen I swung the skillet with all my might and hit him right in the face.
He stumped back grabbing his nose as it started to bleed. He grabbed the knife that was in his pocket, threw it at me. It hit my leg and it got stuck. I dropped the Iron skillet, quickly pulled out the knife. I let out a scream, I dropped the knife and limped over to the killer. He grabbed my ankle, I turned towards him and lifted up my leg. I swung my leg back, I kicked him right in the jaw. He let go of my leg, I limped up the stairs. When I turned around Steve was behind me, I started down the stairs.
When I got down to them I saw The killer trying to get into the pantry where I assumed Steve was. Let out a scream to get his attention which worked, then he was after me. I hopped up the stairs as fast as I could, I felt him grab at my costume, as soon as I went to get away from him he punched me in the back causing me to fall. He turned me around, I kicked him down the stairs. I scrambled to my feet, I limped down the hallway into a room. I walked into the room, I shut the door. The floorboards would freak the more weight I put on them.
I tried to walk as quietly as I could, but with this leg injury it was nearly impossible. I heard the door knob wiggle, I limped over to the closet. Walking in it but before I could get in it two skeletons fell out the closet, I let out a scream. The door busted open, I whipped around looking face to face with the killer. I took in a deep breath, looked at him.
“If you want me here I am mother fucker get it over with.”
He ran at me, tackled me out the door. We landed on the balcony, he leaned over me wrapping his hands around my throat, I started struggling against him. I saw a piece of the door on the floor, I reached for it but I couldn’t get it. I finally came to grips that I wouldn’t see Steve anymore. I wouldn’t see my little brother, I wouldn’t see my mother. I wouldn’t see another day again. This is how it was going to end and I was fine with it.
As soon as I gave into the idea of death his grip loosen around my throat, I opened my eyes to see him and Steve fighting. All I had to do was look at Steve to get that fighting spirit back, that was because Steve looked like shit. He had blood on running down his lip, his once white sleeve was now soaked red. I grabbed the largest part of the door and it had a rusty nail poking out of it. I picked it up, I swung as hard as I could. I heard a thump then I heard another thump. I walked to the edge of the balcony, I looked down to see the killer laying there. He wasn’t moving, Steve had put his arm around my shoulder, I looked at him then smiled.
“Let’s go home please.”
“Fine by me baby.”
Steve and I walked down the stairs, out the front door I walked to the car, I grabbed my purse out of it. Then I started walking down the driveway when it hit me. The other cars probably had spare tires in them. I looked at Steve, told him they probably had spare tires in the back. We walked back to the cars, I opened Steve’s trunk while he went to find something to get the other cars trunks open. As soon as I turned to get out the car the killer had grabbed my throat and began to choke me. I grabbed my purse, I got my pepper spray out, I sprayed him in the eyes. when he let go I gasped for breath, I grabbed the Jack I stepped out of the car, I hit him in his face with the Jack knocking him out.
When Steve came back he had rope along with a crowbar, I looked at Steve, he looked at the killer on the ground.
“W-what happened?”
I looked at him, took in a breath.
“Well I thought he was dead but apparently not so I knocked him out with the Jack, give me the rope so I can tie him up.”
When he handed me the rope I grabbed the jack to the car and hit him again. I turned him on his stomach, I tied up his arms along with his feet. After an hour or so of Steve opening the trunks and changing the tires. The killer finally came to. He started struggling, I walked over to him and I kicked him in the face.
“Steve I think I saw a gas station down the road when we came here. Drive down there and call the cops.”
He looked at me, he shook his head.
“Y/N I’m not leaving you here with him. What if he gets loose?”
I looked at Steve, I smirked.
“Then the cops will have another body to take to the morgue.”
He nodded then got in the car and started up. He put the car in reverse and took off. I let out a breath of air, I heard him laughing. I walked over to him, I turned him on his back.
“What the fuck is so funny?”
He looked at me, he spit on me. I stood back up, I kicked him in the stomach. He let out a groan, he started laughing again. I got pissed, I stood up and started kicking him. He continued to laugh as I kicked him but he started choking, When he coughed hard He coughed up blood.
“Not so funny now is it?”
He looked at me, he smiled.
I stood back up, I heard Steve pull back up. He got out of the car, looked at me.
“Y/N get away from him.”
“Yeah Y/N get away from me, be a good girl for Steve.”
I kicked him in the face again, just as I went to kick again Steve pulled me away from him.
About fifteen minutes later the police showed up. After they discovered all the bodies they arrested the killer, they started reading him his rights. They took us to the ambulance, I heard one of the officers say his name, I looked at Steve and he nodded at me. I called an officer over, I looked at him.
“Officer did he say why he did that to my friends.”
He looked at me and moved his hat some.
“Well miss Y/L/N Brandon escaped from the mental hospital and it took your friends and you to come here to hit a nerve.”
I nodded my head, I watched him walk back to the squad car. When they were pulling he looked at us smiling, I smiled back and then flicked him off.
“Happy Halloween Brandon.”
Three days after we got out of the hospital Steve and I had got back to his house Steve and I were sitting on the couch snuggled up watching a movie, I kissed his cheek.
“Thank you.”
He smiled at me then looked at me.
“For what?”
I looked at him, shrugged.
“For not leaving me.”
He smiled at me, kissed my lips.
“Y/N you’re the love of my life I couldn’t ever leave you.”
I smiled, I took in a deep breath. We would recover from this but it would take a while, but I knew with Steve by my side that would be completely possible.

SUMMARY: Christmas has always been your second favorite holiday of the year, especially since you and your boyfriend Yoongi were literally inseperatable. Well, usually you were. But BTS gets more and more famous - world tours, award shows and other idol priorities making it almost impossible to spend this year’s Christmas with your second family.

Since December started to come around – and you finally decided that it was time to stop binging on your favorite Halloween movies -, your house changed from spoopy graveyard to Rudolph’s shed. Fairy lights and beautiful garlands were hung up everywhere and once you plugged all your Christmas lights in, your house was lighter than “Son Goku in his final form”. At least that’s what Jungkook used to describe it when he first stepped into your winter wonderland. It was a tradition your boys always teased you with, but it was a tradition you brought with you from your home country that you wouldn’t want to miss. Your mother used to hang up lights everywhere, different Christmas shapes (you once had this weird reindeer light that looked more like a stabbed donkey, but… well) on every window and your balcony while she said “No matter how far apart we are, your light shines on me” – and 2 years after her death, was your most favorite thing to do once the calendar hit December. That, and ordering a shit ton of products from the LUSH and Bath and Body Works Christmas range. Jimin really loved the welcoming smell of cotton candy and gingerbread men, but Jin would sneeze when you sprayed all their pillows with the Snow Fairy body spray.
Usually, it was Taehyung’s favorite task to pick out a Christmas tree with you, decorating it with the entire family (that obviously consisted of all his band mates, their dogs and you), but this time it was just you, Tannie and Holly  walking around the tree field and picking a random one, much smaller than what  you’d usually get. There won’t be any presents underneath it anyway. Decorating wasn’t any fun, your Christmas playlist wasn’t helping, the smell of cotton candy wasn’t sweet enough. You made way too many Christmas cookies that wouldn’t be eaten. Your favorite pair of fuzzy socks had a huge hole in them and, oh well, your boyfriend wouldn’t be there for this year’s Christmas.
“Don’t be such a Scrooge, Y/N! It’s festive season!”, Jungkook yelled from somewhere behind Yoongi, energetic as always. “I wouldn’t be a Scrooge if my boyfriend and my friends would be here, celebrating the fest of love with me.” You mumbled quietly, a heavy sigh leaving your chest. It was currently the 17th of December, the first snow has fallen over Seoul, your fireplace crackling softly in the background. Yet, you were freezing. “Jagi, come on. It’s just another day of the year, we’ll be fine. We have New Year’s together, what’s the deal?” Your boyfriend didn’t care that much about festive traditions, hating the thought of Valentine’s Day or Halloween, not even speaking about the stress he always has around the Christmas season. For them, worldwide superstars, it was just another workday.

Those words gave you goosebump and you didn’t know if it was because you already knew what would have happened at his flat or for the atmosphere that there was at that exact moment. It was all a rush. The door slammed behind Roger’s back as his lips were on yours, your hands through his hair as you pulled him closer. Roger shook his head chuckling as he started “Happy now?” You pulled him closer to you and kissed him “Shut up” you mumbled as the kiss deepened. “Let’s change position” Roger suggested as his lips were on the valley of your breasts. “What were you thinking?” “You on top” “Oh, you want to keep it vanilla today.” You couldn’t help but keep making jokes about him. That’s how you managed to make the sex less intimate, to see it just as simple sex between two people who just hook up and nothing more. But that wasn’t what Roger was showing at the moment when you were riding him and he decided to sit up. You have never been this close during sex, with your chest pressed against his. Roger turned around to face him, a frown formed on his face. “What do you mean?” “You know, are you two dating? I mean, you seemed quite close” “No” he took another drag on his cigarette “We just fuck, that’s all, nothing more.” “Oh” Brian sat on the floor and drew some imaginary lines on the floor “So, you don’t care if she goes out with other guys?” Roger just shrugged as he kept working on his drum, not understanding why Brian wanted to know so much about your relationship. “Because you know, I was thinking.” The guitarist started to stutter “Would you be mad if I asked her out?” Roger suddenly got up taken aback from what the guitarist just said and that made him hit his drum cymbal with his head. “Fuck” he cursed massaging his scalp. Why did Brian want to date you? He just met you at the party, yes you were drop-dead gorgeous but he didn’t even know you so well. And fuck, Roger just said that you two have sex together so why would Brian want to go on a date with someone who bangs his bandmate? “Um… you,” a hand was pointed towards your face, “photocopy 2 of everything then man the desk,” now a tonne of papers was slammed in front of you, sending a gust of wind backwards and shocking you from the force they were dropped at.
Getting bossed around was something you had to get used to being a junior secretary at a huge up and coming company- a new junior secretary who also only started three days ago.
There were also nicknames; they were rather degrading as most people never bothered to learn your name until they decided you could last at least four months here. Nothing too special; most people opted for: ’hey you!’ or ’thingy’ and the most welcoming- ’newbie’.
You had to take it on the chin, this was your job -a well paying one- that you weren’t planning on losing any time soon. So the workload and rude coworkers are something you’ll have to get used to, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t annoying as shit.
”It’s Y/N,” managing to wrap your tiny hands around the blocks of paper, you lifted up the weight, ”you should know; you’re the one who hired me Amanda,” your boss or head secretary, Amanda, didn’t have time for ’casual’ conversation (somehow, knowing your name was casual) and anytime anyone brought up anything other than work she shut it down. So making friends was out the window.
”Alright then Adrian,” not even close, “can you stop messing around and photocopy these for me quickly. I want to go to lunch,” you did admire her however; the way she managed to talk with you, the person on the phone, the person in front of her, all while clicking the mouse to add another tab onto the already filled screen on her computer was multitasking skills beyond even your own mother. And the fact that she still managed it with impeccable slicked back hair, untouched skin and a perfect pantsuit combo was some sort of sorcery.
”Chop chop,” Amanda waved her hand in your general direction and went back to her multiple conversations.
The sigh that fell from your mouth was heavy enough to even worry the man standing behind the desk, but nonetheless, work was work and you were willing to commit until this job inevitably kills you.
The walk to the photocopy room wasn’t that far, so you didn’t bother thinking about the fact the trip back you were carrying double the weight until you were there, smacking your head against the photocopier for your sheer stupidity of not doing this in two trips.

”Finally,” Amanda got up from her chair, not to help, but to grab her purse, ”I’m going to get some food and I’ll be straight back as I still don’t trust you here alone. Put the papers on my side of the desk,” oh, that’s a nice feeling.
Being bashed and then ordered around again. You stood there, loads and loads of paper somehow balanced in your hands as you watched Amanda walk away, heels clicking against the tile floors with every self-entitled step.
You set down the papers with a slam next to her computer, the pens laid on her desk dispersed and you didn’t make an effort to pick them up. A favour for a favour.
Expecting a clear desk, you sat down in your chair with the annoyingly squeaky wheel and gasp at your computer screen. You stared at what was normally a flawless sheer black, clean screen that had transformed into a mood board for yellow and pink post-it notes, all similarly decorated with a neat ’A’ at the bottom of the task set on each one of them.
”Fuck sake!” You bang your head onto the keyboard; unintelligible combinations appearing onto your Microsoft Excel and stretching the collum as your profile stays firmly pressed against the board.
”I know the feeling, but maybe keep the language to yourself, you’re in a public space,” an unfamiliar voice ringed in your ears, the tone of was deep, but it was smoother than caramel; you could fall into it and listen to it all day… but once the words registered in your mind your head shot up, hair flying everywhere and out of your pathetically tied bun.
“There you go,” the man watched as you appeared from under the desk like a bunny coming out of a magicians top hat, “you need to let me in. I’ve lost my ID and can’t get through the turnstiles. You have to let me in, I would jump over, but I don’t want to rip this suit.”
Not only were you the secretary for this building and company, you also were the ’gatekeeper’- as you liked to call it. You and Amanda decide who goes in and who doesn’t; people who work here have an ID to get them past the turnstiles, and others, who have scheduled appointments, are given a temporary guest ID to let them in. This guy, however, has neither of those things and Amanda made it very clear: ’never let someone who doesn’t have an ID or appointment through. Or else’.
And as a new employee under her care, you didn’t want to embarrass you or her.
“I can’t do that sir. You don’t have an ID or an appointment so you can’t go through,” you say with a monotone voice a shuffle through papers to make yourself look busy.
The look he fires back to your remark is either completely disgust or shock, ”my face should be ID enough.”
Wow, what a cocky little shit. You scoff and smile, shocked by his attitude.
”Your face? Sorry, but as a person who works here, I’ve never seen you around,” you roll your eyes and turn away, sitting back down in your chair, ”you can’t go through.”
“You’re just a secretary, who have you seen around and what do you do anyway?” You could see the self-entitlement dripping off of him.
Your blood starts boiling and you slam your hands on the desk, rising slowly and building up and ready to burst like a volcano. At first, before you took this job, you would’ve thought the same thing, but finally having the experience of being a secretary and the workload, you were ready to punch this guy square in the face.
”Just a secretary? Sorry, sir,” you over pronounce the sir, ”but i’m not just the fucking secretary, I also manage the damn gates.”
”Revolutionary. You hold the company on your shoulders,” you didn’t much enjoy the sarcasm or smile that this man’s mouth is showing.
“Alright you fucking listen here mister,” you lean over the counter while pointing a finger, officially done with today and this random dude, “I work fucking hard, this job is hard as shit I hope you know that. Also, I’m not letting you in the bloody building, okay?”
The fact that he was still grinning was all the more frustrating; you wanted to slap it off his face.
”You have such a foul mouth,” he speaks softly, but with a teasing smile which aggravates you further.
”You have a foul personality. Don’t come over to me and demand stuff I can’t give you like a spoilt child,” you spit at him. Honestly, if he caught you at any other time, you wouldn’t be this fired up.
”Actually you can because I’m-”
”Mr Kim?”
Both you and the frustrating man turn to see Amanda, standing there, half-eaten sandwich in her left hand, ”are you here for your afternoon meeting?”
Confusion struck; Amanda knew him? Who’s mister Kim? What meeting?
Your confusion wasn’t exactly hidden; it was pretty obvious to Amanda what happened as she clicked her heels back around the desk to your side to look for the guest IDs, all while shouting/whispering in your ear, ”he’s the CEO of the company, Kim Taehyung. And you’ve made him late for a meeting”
The expression on your face was priceless; Taehyung had to let out a small snicker as your eyes slowly but surely widened and your back straightened up. Words were on the tip of your tongue but came out as stupid stutters instead of the calm and sweet, honey voice he had.
Amanda handed over the ID and shook her head, apologizing on your behalf, “sorry, they’re the newbie,” you could feel the cheeks redden and you hoped he wouldn’t point it out, but after talking to him for only 3 minutes, you felt like he’s a person who would.
“Alright foul mouth, think you can remember this face for next time,” the way you tried to hide the incredulous look on your face only made Taehyung smile wider.
Taehyung bid farewell to Amanda and walked over to the turnstiles, letting himself in and running to the elevators.
”Hey y/n,” Amanda nudged your arm; you were expecting a scolding for not knowing who the owner of the company was, but you got, “I think he likes you,” you see her smiling for the first time as she walks back to the seat.
You were left in a daze… he likes you? And Amanda knows your name? It got you blushing even more than usual… Taehyung did, not Amanda.
“What?” You blinked at her. Too many thoughts that ’what’ was the only word you could let out.
“Well, he fired the last secretary because they couldn’t remember his name… so I guess he likes you,” Amanda shrugged.
You visibly gulped. You were in for it. This guy was bad news. And he was your boos.

“Should I get my dog the banana costume or the Dorothy costume for Halloween?”
It had only been a month since you had started work here and Amanda had taken a complete 180. The two conversation topics you and Amanda fall back on when the awkward silence fills the desk is her dog, Grumples (which you didn’t mind, like, at all) and Taehyung, the CEO (which you did mind, making it Amanda’s favourite subject topic)
”Those Dorothy shoes look like they’re from build-a-bear,” you lean over and give your input as she shows you her phone.
Amanda nods in agreement and keeps scrolling, “banana it is,” she copies you and rests her feet on the desk next to yours.
Over the past month, yours and Amanda’s computers slowly got closer and closer together -as did your friendship- and now you were reading a magazine and resting your feet on the desk.
Old Amanda would’ve erupted if she saw the both of you. Maybe once Amanda found a conversation topic that was mildly amusing (Taehyung, unfortunately) she got attached to you.
At least she knew your name now.
“It’s September, why are you ordering now?” You questioned
“I don’t trust delivery services at all,” Amanda responded.
”I can pay for next day delivery for you,” the deep, honey voice had shocked you once again- at least Amanda was there to flinch too.
As Amanda keeps her cool and places a hand on her chest to calm down her heart, you, on the other hand, jump up in your chair with a, ”what the fuck!”
”Wow, foul mouth has foul feet too,” Taehyung poked your big toe on your foot, which is sprawled out the desk; you flinched away while yelping- his hands were incredibly cold.
There was no one in the lobby and your feet hurt from the heels, who really would blame you for taking them off and relaxing- letting them breathe perhaps.
”W-what are you doing down here? Get back to work!” you struggle to fumble off the chair and stand up, blubbering uncontrollably as you slip slightly while trying to maintain some composure.
”You’re the one who’s resting their dirty feet on the front desk foul mouth!” Taehyung retorted, causing a small gasp to fall past your lips in offence; the nickname and him calling your feet dirty somehow cut deeper coming from his lips.
Amanda, like always, sits at the side and watches you and Taehyung’s usual ’run-ins’ with an amused look on her face.
These ’run-ins’ have been occurring more than you would like them to. It seemed to start happening after you embarrassingly didn’t recognise him as the CEO of the company you work for (you have brushed up your knowledge on the company after that incident) and then cursed him out.
The ordinarily quiet lobby (apart from mornings and rush hour when everyone leaves) now always -what you thought- had a scampering child running around in it. Taehyung was constantly there, popping up unexpectedly to get a reaction out of you- specifically a reaction to get you cursing at him again just to tell you off.
Just when you thought you got rid of the insufferable nicknames, another one came out of nowhere. ’Foul mouth’. So what you had a slight potty mouth? It wasn’t a big deal. But when Taehyung pointed it out, it became some sort of horrible thing you should stop doing. Obviously, you didn’t.
Every time the name dropped from his lips it was always spoken as a hum; a horrible nickname sounded sweet with his voice; like he was singing a beautiful song every time he said it, and you hated it. You were sure he didn’t know your name as that’s all he ever called you.
He shouldn’t even be down here; he should be in his office, a hundred feet away from you.
”Mr Kim, leave before I fucking drop kick you,” you slammed your hand down on the stapler, connecting the two papers and showing hostility in your irises.
”I love it when you talk dirty to me baby,” Taehyung rested his elbow on the desk, cheek resting in his hand as he stared at you lovingly; the look in his eyes was bewildering, it looked so real, but you knew it was just some tease.
“Go upstairs,” you hiss as a warning.
“This is so cute,” Amanda chuckled and was practically eating popcorn as she watched you both. Witnessing you and Taehyung squabble was her new favourite pastime. 
You knew because she told you.
Amanda chirping in was ignored and Taehyung continued the conversation, “if you actually read my schedule, you would know I’m going out to negotiate a business deal so-” Taehyung showed his mature side by flipping you off with both hands.
”Of course I read your schedule!” no, you didn’t. You read ’Mr Kim’s sc-’ and tossed it into the trash.
“I know you didn’t, but i’ll forgive you,” Taehyung flashes a bitter smile as you watch a sleek black car pull up in the street through the lobby windows. You didn’t want to guess how much it was, but it looked expensive. The tinted windows and paint job looked as if they cost more than your monthly rent.
Taehyung notices the car too and starts walking backwards slowly, keeping his eyes on you, “bye foul mouth,” a wink was directed at you, as was a shit-eating grin before Taehyung turned around and left the building, pulling a large coat on to cover his already large frame.
A wink. How cheesy.
”Did you see that? Mr Kim winked at you,” Amanda chirped in, poking your sides playfully.
”It was cringey.”
”Why are you blushing then?”

“Should I get my dog the elf costume or the reindeer costume for Christmas?”
“Those hoofs look deranged.”
”Elf it is.”
“It’s November, why are you ordering now?”
You and Amanda looked over at each other- you’ve had this conversation before.
Smiling at the infamous deja vu, you loosely chuck your wallet into the handbag that was definitely too big for the things you normally carry and grab your phone, ”do you want anything?”
”No, just be quick y/n,” Amanda’s workaholic side was evident in that sentence, wanting you back from your break as quickly as possible.
You nod and circle round the desk, quickening your pace as you don’t want to face Amanda’s wrath if you’re late.
”Wait! Y/n!” you whip your head around, expecting to be faced with Amanda’s face, but instead, a thick coat harshly smacked into your face and fell into your arms, ”you forgot your coat.”
Saluting to Amanda, you dash out of the door and give her another reason to scoff at you. You carelessly scramble to pull the coat on; the soft fabric touching your skin as you pulled your arm through the sleeve, tips of your fingers visible at the end.
The doors at the exit automatically opened once you were close enough and you swiftly stepped out, smiling to the bodyguards before doing so.
Cold air breathed into your skin once you stepped outside, hitting you like a truck; red cells rising to your cheeks to protect you from the harsh breeze. Your coat was already wrapped around you, adding another layer of protection as your flimsy dress and wool tights are useless against this weather.
It wasn’t unbearable, but you wanted to get out of the bitter weather and find something to warm up your hands; the nearest cafe to the building was a safe bet.
The place was small and quaint, so whenever someone walked in, the bell would ring and almost every face would turn to you, checking the arrival of the new person is acceptable enough to stay here.
That’s exactly what happened to you; not only did the warmth from the heaters hit your face, about 8 different eyes burned holes into you too- effectively heating you up more.
Looking down, you sauntered forward, avoiding the looks as you neared the counter. The man in front who had just finished his order turned around and- oh fuck.
“Mr Kim?”
The egregious smirk etched its way onto Taehyung’s face -insufferable and handsome as always- as he finished his order with, ”-oh, also a latte for foul mouth too,” he spins around, smile still present, ”you like lattes right?”
”I hate them,” you keep lying so he wouldn’t have the satisfaction of being right, ”and you’re not paying for my coffee- why are you even here?”
”It’s my day off. You really don’t read my schedule do you?” Taehyung looked slightly hurt, but the teasing kind that suggests he’s upset you aren’t obsessed with him. Like you’ll be obsessed with someone so full of himself to think like that.
”I did!” that was true. You eventually looked.
You tried resting on your tiptoes, looking past the tall man, but your view was blocked by his annoyingly becoming face, “and cancel the damn latte!” you shout to the barista, unable to get past the wall that is Mr Kim.
You let out a heavy sigh at him rotating his head around and gesturing at the poor barista to make it anyway.
Stumbling back, you finally got a good look of Taehyung in casual clothes. Well, casual enough for a businessman like Mr Kim. A striped, collared red shirt layered with a navy cardigan and a trench coat you really didn’t want to guess the price of.
Everything looked seamlessly exceptional on him, wearing it with so much confidence is what made him all the more attractive; any piece of clothing that was worn by him gained value by 100% just because it touched his skin. You shamelessly got too lost starting at him to notice the hand waving in front of your face.
”Foul mouth?” a look of genuine concern crossed his face, “stop spacing out.”
The nickname brought you back- does he even know your name?
”A cappuccino and latte to go?” the barista called from behind you, holding the plastic cups towards you.
There was no way you were letting Taehyung pay for you; your pride wouldn’t let you- even though it was just coffee.
You swatted his hand away that held a wad of money and dug into your oversized handbag to pull out your flimsy wallet. You handed the barista a 10 and refused the change.
“I was going to pay for that,” Taehyung held up his arms.
“Tough,” you grab onto both coffee cups, harsh pricks of warmth stabbing at your fingertips and tickling up your arm. To say it woke you up a little was an understatement.
Forcing the coffee into his open hand, Taehyung tried resisting, ”but-”
”Just because you’re ‘rich’,” you used air quotes with your free hand, ”doesn’t mean you have to pay for everything.”
Normally, Taehyung was not one to show when certain words affected him -being a businessman it could come in handy- but those small, simple words struck a chord within him. He never noticed; everyone always expected him to pay; everyone always waited until he reached for the bill first. It was refreshing to hear it.
Taehyung just froze up; a smile on his face and coffee in hand, the heat from the plastic cup is not the only thing sending tingles of amiability up his spine.
It took you a second to notice Mr Kim was staring at you. You couldn’t help but tease, waving a hand in front of his face and smiling at him, ”are you having an embolism?”
You had got him to laugh, which you were curiously happy about.
”No… thank you,” Taehyung looked down at the ground while holding up his cup, grinning just to glance back up at you with that boyish smile that would make any girls heart flutter. Including yours.
”No problem,” the air gets awkward so you step back and out of it, ”I should get back to work before Amanda kills me.”
”I could walk you b-”
”No! I’m fine!” you rush out the door; heart at a pace that wasn’t what anyone would call ’normal’ and cheeks completely burning. The cold breeze was barely doing justice in cooling you down.

”Guess what,” Amanda grins as she looks up at you as she sits on the other side of the desk.
”What?” it was like you knew what she would say, but you ask anyway because you had just arrived and slumped on the customer side of the desk.
”I cancelled the elf costume and went for the reindeer anyway.”
You roll your eyes at Amanda- of course she would.
Amanda greeting you by talking about her dog didn’t cheer you up like it normally would. This morning had been unbearable and it hasn’t even started properly. All it took was one thing -that one thing is waking up late- to screw up the rest of the day.
”We have Mr Kim’s new schedule for this week,” Amanda held out the piece of paper whilst typing on the computer, once again showing off her prodigious multitasking skills.
The paper flew out of her two fingers as you snatched it from her and speed-walked around the desk. Crashing down onto your leather seat you read through it with gleaming eyes that didn’t go unnoticed by your desk buddy.
Things between you and Mr Kim have been… friendly? What was once teasing and cursing back and forth turned into genuine conversations every time he came downstairs, (there was still a little teasing and cursing) becoming significantly uninteresting to Amanda, which was a plus for you- although he did still call you foul mouth, proving your suspicions that he didn’t know your name to be true.
Running your fingers over the ink on the page, you memorized as much as you could on first glance, however, it came to a halt once it landed over the end of today.
Monday 5:30 - Dinner date.
A date? The words tasted strange on your tongue and you haven’t even said it out loud yet. You didn’t even know he had time for dates, but you knew it didn’t sit well with you; a grip was on your stomach and the fact that you felt like that, felt wrong entirely. He was basically your boss.
Your upset face was obviously more noticeable than you first thought as it attracted the attention of Amanda, ”something wrong?” she notices the placement of your finger and smirks.
”Jealous?” she spoke in that annoying mocking voice again.
”No,” you slammed the paper onto your desk, becoming engrossed with your computer screen instead, ”why would I be jealous?”
”Because you secretly like your boss and he’s going out with someone who isn’t you,” she had pinned the tail onto the donkey. The donkey was you and the tail was the cold hard truth.
”Fuck off.”

”Stop sulking!”
You scoff at Amanda as you continue to indeed, pout.
You promised yourself you wouldn’t get that upset over it, it wasn’t a big deal at all; he could even have a girlfriend for all you know. What you were really pouting over was the fact that Taehyung had not come downstairs at all today. It has become a habit and you had got used to it, getting comfortable with his presence being there.
You let out one big, final sigh as you start packing up; you hurriedly shove everything into your handbag, mumbling curses to yourself when you accidentally dropped your phone to the floor.
Bending over while praying it didn’t smash, you retrieve your phone and stand back up straight to meet a face you say you’re comfortable with, but still get scared of every time it appears unexpectedly.
”Mr Kim!” you place a hand over your chest and try to calm down from another jumpscare, ”what are you doing down here?”
”You really don’t read my schedule, do you?” Taehyung studies your every movement as you walk around the desk, ”I have a date.”
You press a smile together and raise your eyebrows, ”have fun,” lowering your face, you start speed walking for the door.
As you listened to your heels click against the floor rapidly, another sound of steps close-by catches your attention. You stopped abruptly and whipped your head to the side to see Taehyung.
”Mr Kim what-”
”I prefer it if you would call me Taehyung.”
”But you’re my boss-” you tried speaking again, but inevitably got interrupted.
”And you’re my date y/n,” your heart sped up and somehow slowed down at the same time. He said your name and date in one sentence, ”so let’s go,” your hand was taken from you as Taehyung dragged you away; Amanda excitedly waving you out of the door.
”Mr- Kim, what’s going on?” Taehyung somehow managed to get you into his car before answering your constant questions.
You were both in the back seat and you could not be more confused. You were his date? He knew your actual name?
Taehyung slowly reached over you, grabbing the seatbelt and helping you strap in; the close proximity was deadly as you held in a breath. You could feel his breath tickling the peach fuzz on your cheeks, which were bright red by now.
”You’re my date,” you felt the seatbelt click in place, ”because I like you. You stand up for yourself, which is hot, and are more caring than you think… and I wanted to take you out.”
You were a stuttering mess, words failing to get out, but you managed a small, ”w-wh-well what if I-I don’t want to go out?”
By the smirk on Taehyung’s face, you could tell he was planning something, ”tough,” you watched his dilated pupils getting closer and closer to you; hands nervously sweating and gripping onto the seat once his lips collided with force onto yours.
You felt two hands softly hold your cheeks, easily covering each one with how huge his hands were.
Just like everything else, Taehyung effortlessly got whatever he wanted and you relaxed, kissing him back; fluttering your eyes shut, your hands fell on top of his, softly caressing them as your lips worked together as if that was their sole purpose.
Everything was still confusing for you, but this felt right. It felt comfortable.
Taehyung was the first to pull away, causing the tiniest whimper to fall from your lips once he did. Your foreheads gently lean against each other; his cheeky grin still visible as you gulped.
”You know… for such a foul mouth, I didn’t expect you to taste so sweet.”
Taehyung may have got a smack around the head for that, but, he still pulled you back and enjoyed the taste of your lips for the whole ride to the restaurant.

You were all dressed up with nowhere to go this Christmas Day. It wasn’t bad. In all honesty, you needed some time by yourself. This holiday season had been spent mostly caring for others, and if you didn’t have some quiet time, you punch a wall or a person. Since you didn’t wanna get fired, you decided to treat yourself. Just because all of your events had been cancelled last minute didn’t mean you couldn’t stay in and watch some Christmas movies with some warm food and blanket.
Getting your fluffiest blanket out of the closet, you passed by the drinks you had set up just for the Queen herself. You. It was gonna be a party for one, baby! Something caught my eye outside and I saw that it was snow flurries. It really would be a white Christmas after all, huh?
The snowfall reminded you of the oddest, but best run in you had ever had.
You were at a ski resort with friends but your legs were one more slope away from turning into absolute mush. So as your friends went back out, you decided to get some food and something hot to drink from the snack counter. However, as soon as you turned around, you noticed the broad shoulders in a padded coat too late.
Your vanilla chai landed straight on the floor and your individual apple pie was properly smushed. Not even looking at the person, you fell to your knees and just make whimpering noises. Like legit, you sounded like the saddest little puppy mourning over your lost meal. Did that really happen?
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!”
You were about to rip him a new one until you saw who it was. His face was legit everywhere, and what a handsome face it was. Kim Seokjin in his tall and broad shouldered splendor was in complete shock as some staff wiped the back of his jacket. The man then got onto all fours to do the lowest bow you have ever seen.
“I’ll buy you another whatever that was. I’m so sorry. I should’ve been looking at where I was going.”
I stood as the liquid began to spread even more. We were pushed out the way for the janitor to clean up the mess even though Jin profusely said that he would do it. Jin bought you a new drink and apple pie and the two of you sat down while things settled. He was there for a photoshoot for his newest acting role. Even though you had been ready to rip his head off not even ten minutes ago, you found yourself falling for his every word currently.
Jin had to leave just after he was complimenting you on how well you spoke Korean, though. An idol never rests! Before he left, however, he gave you his phone number as secretly as he could on a napkin. He winked at you.
“Hopefully, I’ll see you again soon.”
That hope died down as both of your schedules just kept getting more full. You had his number but never the time. Like never. Most of the year passed along those lines of never being able to meet up.
You decorated your Christmas Tree last second. It was small, so it didn’t take too long except you were really enjoying the eggnog you had made a whole bowl of. Christmas music played loud enough to drown out the carolers outside your window. Yeah, the spirit was to be shared and all, but you just were tired of people. It would be fun to share this day with someone though, someone special. Not just anyone.
Reading Christmas cards was fun. Got some money out of it. You sighed and grabbed your camera to take some photos of the snow outside. It looked so pretty in the setting sun.
Your guilty pleasure Justin Bieber song came on and you sang along, “It’s the most beautiful time of the year. Lights fill the street spreading so much cheer…”
Right, the Christmas in July party that happened on vacation a few months ago. That’s where you saw Jin again.
He looked so good in a floral printed dress shirt and matching shorts. You were sort of hoping to slide past him, but he somehow recognized you in a huge sunhat and bright yellow sundress.
“Hey, I’m about to take a boat ride. You wanna come with?” He asked as you two had been catching up for a bit.
“Umm…well…” You said and looked up at him, your face was boiling and peeling at the same time. Third degree sunburn. There were boils all over your legs.
He said that he hoped you felt better soon and that you’d get to do it another time. You said sure and ran off to get into some shade and buy some ointment or something, anything to get rid of the pain.
Now the calendar was just one page, barely even a week left. You were making some last minute calls this Christmas Eve to your parents and friends and other family members that you actually spoke to. Today and tomorrow were days for some self pampering and a time for rest. Even the parties that didn’t cancel on you, you cancelled on them or turned them down.
The last time you even had a chance like this it was Halloween. Jin called that night and said he would pick me up from the party I was at and then we could go hang out together at his dorms. Everyone was out that night partying, but he just wanted a night in with someone he cared about. You said sure even though it was really hecking late, but his car didn’t start. No one else was answering, so you two just texted until you lost your phone in a Halloween punch bowl.
He did send you turkey and spam for part of your Christmas dinner since he was  so busy and couldn’t do it in person. Yes, Spam. He was Korean, and you had gotten used to this tradition pretty quickly. It was in the oven as you looked around for the cranberries you were going to use to make homemade cranberry sauce. Oh no. You forgot them in the basket cuz some weird guy in a Burberry coat was approaching you when you were shopping.
Probably stole your damn berries too.
Either way, you put on your boots and bundled all the way up since it was snowing and went to the all night Lotte store nearby. You went straight back to the produce section and searched for the bag of cranberries. You grabbed them and went to the line with people buying last minute gifts and sch. A familiar sight was standing in front of youin crushed red velvet. Then you couldn’t help but sneeze due to the weather.
The guy turned around and said, “Bless you...wait, (Y/N)?”
In the line was the guy you’ve been chasing all year.
“Oh my god, hi!”
“I thought I’d just be spending the day with my bros. Just got back from a fansign.” Jin laughed. “This year’s been crazy! Like, at least I have a little time for a break.”
You replied, “Yeah, me too. But why are you…” Your eyes wandered to his hand basket. “You mean you forgot cranberries too?”
You two started laughing and laughing in line and as he was called up to be next, you realized maybe Christmas was more magical than you thought. You wouldn’t be spending it alone or with annoying coworkers since Jin asked if you wanted to hang out at his place with the others of course. They were doing the same thing you were, watching movies, drinking eggnog with way too much rum in it and helping Jin cook.
You said yes if you able to turn of your oven at home first. As you walked to his waiting car, the last bit of an English Christmas song played over the store’s speakers.

Chapter 19.2
On October 1st, you attend a Halloween party in an abandoned house rented by some friends. As scary as the idea of cult owners is, nothing could have prepared you and BTS(regular people) for the mayhem and terror that follows until October 31st.

Entering into the venue, you first caught sight of the countless specks of orange lights situated all over the ceiling. A few balloons scattered about. Smiling at Seokjin’s choice of design, you felt relief at the idea of a simple party. Granted the place was full and loud, but at least there wasn’t a looming threat like the last party.
The threat, you adjusted the large, pointy hat balancing on your head as your lips pursed from the thought, the threat was what exactly?
You wandered around, looking at the decor and grinning at the wild costumes some adorned. They made your simplistic witch costume mundane, but at least it would be easier to travel in whenever you left with Hoseok later on. You reached to switch your phone off of silent, enabling you to actually know when he arrived. In doing so your eyes caught the profile picture you had for him, and the couple of emojis besides his nickname. What date was it that you took that picture, anyways?
You shrugged, narrowing your eyes as you considered it being hard to pinpoint since you both saw each other every day. Every day since you got back together with him more than a couple of weeks ago, or maybe it was just about two weeks.
“Y/N, your costume is cool.” Your eyes left the stupor to find Namjoon smiling with a solo cup of something in hand. He pointed to the hat and its glittery cat pin on the base, “I like the little touches.”
“I barely put it together before coming here, honestly.” You reached back up again to readjust the hat, somewhat flustered by the compliment seeing as you were digging through racks at a thrift store about four hours before. “But thanks, Namjoon. The doctor look on you is nice too.”
“I just asked a friend from the medical school for his coat,” He chuckled at himself, arms raising to showcase the long fall of white fabric. You noticed a silly sticky note with his name on it over the embroidery of whatever his friend’s name was. You smiled.
“Hey, have you seen Guk or Jimin?” You glanced around the room, truly not paying the most attention up until now. “I wanted to get a picture with them.”
“I saw Jeongguk towards the back earlier-- close by the balcony.” He turned his head to the direction, “I’ll walk with you there, I lost track of Jin anyways. Hoseok not coming?”
“He is,” You nodded as you began walking, trying to steer clear the makeshift dance floor central in the venue. “Just running late. We’ll probably leave not too late in, actually.”
“Going to go enjoy the full moon?” He inquired lightly, missing your eyes straying up to his face as he continued, “I was looking at it on the way here. It’s crazy how big it is, and on Halloween no less.” As he finished, his eyebrows momentarily hardened, stuck in a sudden thought.
“I feel like there’s something about the full moon I wanted to say, but I forgot.” You filled in the silence, laughing softly at your mind’s inability to recall what kept racking around for attention. “I didn’t really get the best sleep last night though, so maybe I’m just tired already.”
“Me too.” Namjoon nodded, “My head was killing me when I woke up. Not sure why though. I don’t remember what I did last night really.”
“Got drunk by the sounds of it.”
“No.” He chuckled, shrugging, “I mean, I really don’t think so.” Instinctively tensing at the sound of a small scream somewhere mixed into the crowd, you both looked for the source. Seeing a portion begin to laugh, you sighed. Their were so many pranks this past month. “I swear if Jin pulls any of the crap that Jeongguk and Taehyung did at their party-”
“What crap?” You cut in, frowning at his words.
“The haunted house,” He paused, squinting in concentration, “And the seance.”
“Seance.” You repeated rhetorically. Returning your eyes to the front, you thought about the aforementioned events. You felt the urge to grab at your shoulder, like it all the sudden was sore. “Right, that happened huh.”
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure it was crazy.” Namjoon’s coat suddenly brushed around as he searched for his phone in his pocket. You thought about the previous party, at that house. You recalled it being incredibly well-kept despite how old it should’ve been. Like it was still active, but abandoned nonetheless.
“The supreme arrived,” Jimin’s arm reached to take hold of your wide sleeve as he came out of nowhere. Grinning at your apparel, he eventually locked faux grey irises to yours, “You look cute.”
“Not threatening?” You tugged your arm away to cross your arms, wondering how he managed to put together such an elaborate vampire look despite telling you he was going to scavenge at Walmart. His head shook at your question,
“Not with a cat pinned to your hat.” He turned his head, eyes scanning, “Oh,” Yours followed the direction as he called out, “Jeongguk, I found her over here!”
Your lips tightened to stop the endeared laughter as Jeongguk’s head perked with large rabbit ears flopping around on his head. Smiling wide when he saw you, he wandered over, boxy pink shirt tucked into plain jeans.
“A bunny?” You prodded at the sharpie whiskers on his cheek.
“The ears were three dollars, so it seemed right.” You giggled at his simple frugality, earning the crinkles around his nose to show as he smiled. “Meanwhile you’re a cult girl I guess?” He looked at the long black cloak, “Spooky.” He didn’t think so.
“Cult,” Your lips pouted, glancing to your attire. “What like what you and Tae wore?”
“Huh?” His smile dissipated. “When did we dress up as cult people?”
“At the last party,” You frowned, glancing to Jimin, “Right?”
“I didn’t go, so-”
“You did too,” Namjoon cut in from behind you, “Remember you wanted to explore?”
“I did,” Jimin wondered, rubbing his jaw as he thought about it, “Oh yeah,” His shoulders trembled, “I feel weird thinking about it. I bet that place was cursed. Where is Taehyung, though? Did he ever answer you, Guk?”
“No.” Jeongguk looked at his phone after answering. Checking again. “Have you heard from Yoongi, Y/N? I didn’t think he’d come, but I still haven’t heard from him at all today either.”
“He,” You stumbled in thought, not entirely sure when the last time you spoke to him was. You remembered an argument days ago over him moving, but at the thought of more recent events you couldn’t recall. One of your hands fiddled with the other, mindlessly rubbing your thumb over the knuckles, “I don’t know. I haven’t texted him today.”
“Hey, look at this guys,” The three of you turned towards Namjoon as he then groaned at his phone. “Internet in here is awful, hold on.”
“Love.” You didn’t catch Jeongguk’s eyebrows twitch from the familiar voice. Instead, you arched your neck to look past him, smiling as you caught sight of Hoseok walking towards your group with Seokjin as an apparent guide.
“I knew they’d be by the balcony, it’s really nice overlooking the park district, right?” Seokjin went to Namjoon as he muttered something again about the internet, “What are you doing?”
“Hey, I saw something on the way here I wanted to show you it after we leave in a bit okay?” Hoseok’s hand found yours, smiling as he spoke. Out of the corner of your eye, you noted Jimin’s hand nudge at Jeongguk. You ignored it, instead nodding,
“Okay, sounds good. Actually, have you heard from Yoongi at all? You have a class with him.”
“He wasn’t in class today.” Hoseok shrugged, “He’s been like that you know?” You frowned,
“Yeah, but I thought he would’ve stopped by now.” Hoseok shook his head,
“Unfortunately not,” He looked past you to the large windows that left the outdoor space completely visible, “Let’s go out there, love. It looks pretty.”
“You’re obvious about hating him.” Jimin grinned wider as Jeongguk’s eyes rolled. Glancing at you and Hoseok wander out through the door, Jimin looked back to the stiffened jaw of his friend. “What don’t trust him?”
“No.” Instantaneously the words fell. Jeongguk’s eyebrows creased. He didn’t realize he felt so strongly about this. He didn’t remember hating the idea of them getting back together a week ago. Really, he didn’t know at all why he had this distrust engraved against his conscious. He didn’t have a good feeling.
“Hey, both of you look at this,” Namjoon gestured to his phone, “Jin’s vlog from the last party. Tell me if you remember this.” Seokjin appeared contemplative as the younger two moved closer. Namjoon also seemed slightly distressed as he clicked play.
Jimin’s mouth opened in a small gasp as he watched the events of a seance take place, “Did you guys do that last time?” He murmured in a stain of nerves. Jeongguk ignored him, focusing entirely on the scene and feeling his heart rate accelerate as Taehyung’s body fell to the ground. 
“He wasn’t the same after that,” Jeongguk didn’t know what he meant by the comment. “Y/N-” He startled as he listened to the replay of worried yells you made because you hadn’t been able to move. 
“I remember that,” Seokjin pointed out in surprise as he watched himself try to help Y/N, only to be met with, “She felt like she was a fire, or something.” 
“Because you dumbasses used a real chant!” Jimin huffed, watching with a scowl as you eventually regained movement and the scene cut to something else. “I told you not to mess with the real stuff, Guk!” 
“Well it happened!” Jeongguk countered, his voice raised through frustration. Jimin stayed steady in glaring at Namjoon’s phone, before Namjoon pulled it back.
“We should show Y/N.” He said calmly, despite the unsteady hold his hand mounted the phone. 
“No, she’s with Hoseok.” Jeongguk huffed.
“You sound like Taehyung-”
“We should show Taehyung, too.” Seokjin intervened before the two could start arguing, “Is he here?”
“No, he’s,” Jeongguk sighed, shrugging, “I don’t know.”

The next six weeks passed quickly.
You’d gotten comfortable in your job, and even more comfortable in the friendships you’d forged.  You’d visited Wonwoo at his bookstore, spending more money than you made in a month.
You’d visited the radio station Jooheon worked at. You’d even gone to the company Jihoon and Hoshi worked for.
To say Hoshi was a good dancer would be a disgrace to his art. He was absolutely magical when in his element.
Before you knew it, Halloween was fast approaching. You loved Halloween, but tended to go a bit overboard with the decorating and planning.
This year, however, would turn out to be a bit different. Life had a way of trying to break one down, even when they were doing their best.
Minghao was sitting in the couch watching TV with Seokmin, Jihoon and Jooheon when his phone rang.
“Hello?” He answered, confused why Kihyun would be calling him.
“Hey I have a weird question.” Kihyun said.
“Okay… What’s up?” Minghao asked.
“I know I’ve met all the guys, but is there a guy named Jisung I haven’t met yet?” He asked.
“Nope. Why?” Minghao asked.
“Y/n’s in the parking lot and she seems to be arguing with some guy. I heard her tell him to go away and she said his name. I can’t tell the tone and I didn’t want to interrupt.” Kihyun said.
“Do any of you know a Jisung?” Minghao asked the guys.
“Just Y/n’s shitty ex. Why?” Jihoon said.
“Kihyun, is Y/n still in the parking lot?” Minghao asked, on his feet in an instant.  You’d only ever really talked about your ex one time the night you cried over him, and Minghao couldn’t remember you ever calling him by name.
“She just tried getting in her car but he blocked her. She’s walking east.” Kihyun said.
“Okay she is walking towards the house. I’m on my way there, make sure she keeps walking East.” Minghao said, hanging up the phone.
“Where are you going?” Jihoon asked.
“Y/n’s ex is at the school. Kihyun said she’s arguing with him. She’s walking towards the house now because he wouldn’t let her get in her car.”
“What the hell. Are you serious?” Jihoon asked, getting up to follow Minghao.
“Unless you know another Jisung she’d be arguing with, I’m pretty sure.”
Minghao walked out the door quickly, all three guys following behind him.
It only took them a couple of minutes to see you down the block, away from school, Kihyun standing next to you and a tall guy arguing with the both of you.
The foursome picked up their steps, getting to you within a minute.
“I don’t want to, just go away.” Minghao heard you say. Your tone was exasperated, but Minghao could tell you were close to tears.
“Are you okay?” Minghao asked being the first to get to you.
He placed his hands lightly in your shoulders, eyes searching yours.
“I just want to go home.” You said, looking up at him tearfully.
“I’ll take you home.” Minghao heard Jooheon say.
“Give us your keys, the house door is unlocked. I’ll bring your car home.” Seokmin said, not taking his eyes off Jisung.
“What the hell is this?” Jisung asked, looking between you and all you the guys.
“THIS is you being done talking Y/n.” Minghao said, turning towards him.
“Excuse me? Who gave you the right to interfere?” Jisung spit out.
“I did. You don’t get to mess with her.” Minghao said.
He turned back towards you quickly.
“Go home with Jooheon. We’ll be home soon.”
You just numbly nodded your head.
“No, you’re not going anywhere until we talk. That’s all I wanted to do is talk to you and you won’t even do that.” Jisung tried reaching for your arm.
Jihoon grabbed his arm first.
“Yeah, you’re not gonna touch her.”
“Jooheon, just keep walking.” Minghao said, watching out of the corner of his eye as Jooheon put a supportive arm around your shoulder and led you away from the guys.
“Who the hell are you people?” Jisung asked as he watched you walk away.
“Doesn’t matter who we are. Either way you’re not getting to her.”
“What? Are you her boyfriend?” Jisung asked, venom lacing his tone.
“I live with her.” Minghao said, not answering the question.
“I call bullshit on that.  She didn’t want to move in with me and we were together for four years” Jisung protested.
“Yeah, and I wonder why that is.” Jihoon said.  “Spend four years with a woman only to up and leave her as soon as something different comes along.  She probably knew all along there was something off about you.”
“She told you that? Why would she tell you that? Who the hell are you people?” Jisung was growing more confused by the second.
“I told you, she lives with me.  These three..” he said, pointing to Jihoon, Seokmin and Kihyun “are her friends. She’s got about twelve other ones.  I’m telling you right now, that is not a girl you want to mess with.  She can take care of herself, but she will always have us behind her.  Think about that the next time you try cornering her again.”
The group left Jisung standing there surprised.
Seokmin and Kihyun walked back towards the school to collect your car, while Minghao and Jihoon walked home.
Minghao found you in your room, head laying in Jooheon’s lap.  Your eyes were puffy, your face tear stained.
“Give us a minute?” Minghao asked Jooheon.
“Course. I hope you feel better soon Y/n.” Jooheon said.  
Minghao had never heard him use such an even voice before.  To him, that signaled how much Jooheon had come to like and respect you in just a couple months time.
“What happened?” Minghao asked, coming to lay next to you on the bed.
“Nothing.” you said.
“That was more than nothing. Are you okay?” Minghao asked.
“I’m okay. He just wanted to talk. But I can’t talk to him. I feel like I’m fine, and then all the emotion came back tenfold when I saw him.  He’d found out from one of our old mutual friends where I was working.  He didn’t come to attack me or anything, I just…I can’t talk to him.  I hate him so much Minghao. I hate that he threw me away.  And now that the other girl left him, he ‘realized what a mistake he made’ and wants to talk about it.”
“What are you going to do?” Minghao asked.  
He didn’t want you to talk to him.  It wasn’t for any other reason that he didn’t want to see you get hurt again.  He could vividly recall the night you’d cried in his arms. It was the first, and only time, he’d ever seen that side of you. He didn’t like seeing you cry, questioning why you weren’t good enough for someone.  Especially someone like Jisung.  Granted, Minghao didn’t know much about him, but what he did know, he didn’t like.
“Same thing I did today. Nothing. I can’t bring him back in to my life. The way he ended things…the things he said, I could never forgive.” you said.
“What do you need me to do?” Minghao asked.
“Exactly what you’re doing now.” You said, moving closer to Minghao.
He wrapped his arms tightly around your shoulders and held you as you cried out your emotions.
Back in the living room, the guys were quiet. Kihyun and Seokmin had returned with your car and joined Jooheon and Jihoon, sitting in silence.
“It’s weird right?” Jooheon asked the quiet room.”
“What’s weird?” Seokmin asked.
“That.” Jooheon said pointing to your bedroom. “Seeing Y/n like that. I’ve only ever seen her upbeat and happy.  Barring the time she kicked Minghao in the kneecaps for dropping the cheesecake she had just made. I don’t know what to do with that.”
“Not everyone is happy all the time Jooheon.” Jihoon pointed out to him.  “She has a lot of unresolved issues in regards to him. I understand why she reacted the way she did.  But I agree, I don’t know what to do with that either.”
“You do nothing with it.” Minghao said as he came out of your bedroom.
“She won’t like there having been a scene because of her.  She will come out, possibly not until tomorrow morning, and she will act like it didn’t happen.  She’ll stuff her emotions down and pretend like they aren’t there.  She’ll more than likely give a bland, sarcastic apology for what happened, and act like it’s not a big deal.” Minghao was walking to the fridge to get you a water.  You’d fallen asleep, but you’d want it once you woke up.
“That doesn’t seem healthy.” Seokmin pointed out.
“I agree. But it’s how she deals with things.  Who are we to dictate how she copes with and overcomes things that cause her emotional distress? I don’t like it anymore than you guys do, but it’s just how she is.” Minghao said, retreating back into your bedroom.
“Do you really think it will be like that?” Kihyun asked.
“Minghao knows her better than anyone. So, yeah, I’m thinking so.” Jooheon said.
“Man…Now I wish I would have punched the guy in the face. He deserves it.” Jihoon said, angry he missed his opportunity.
A few hours later, Minghao still hadn’t come out of your room.  Kihyun had gone home, Seokmin had fallen asleep on the chair, Jihoon and Jooheon were watching TV from the couch.
They heard your bedroom door open and close.
“How’s she doing?” Jooheon asked, not taking his eyes off the TV.
“Who? Minghao?  I can’t believe I’m the one to tell you this…But Minghao….is a man.” you said, surprising both guys watching TV.
“Oh hey, Y/n” Jihoon said.
“Oh hey Jihoon. Whatcha guys doing?”
“Just watching some TV. What are you doing?” Jihoon remembered Minghao’s words, and thought it best not to bring the earlier situation up.
“Going to the store.” you said, grabbing your jacket.
“For what? It’s almost 9:00.” Jooheon pointed out.
“It’s fine Grandpa. I need pumpkins.”
“What the hell do you need pumpkins for?”
“To carve and put on the front steps. Duh. Halloween is coming up.” you explained.
“Yeah, in like two weeks. People will just smash the pumpkins before Halloween gets here.” Jihoon said.
“Then I guess I’ll have to carve more. So, anyone want to come?” you asked.
Neither guy said anything, just shared a look with each other.
“I’m planning on carving a pumpkin with Minghao’s face on it…” you said, hoping to entice them.
“I’m coming!”

Happy Holidays

“Mroow!”
              Caitlin lowered her gaze from the tree branches where she was putting up ornaments. The tree had been neglected since Gideon’s food poisoning/not-pregnant incident. Since Lily and Felicity had the Hanukkah decorations put up on half the apartment, Caitlin was stepping up to fill the role of Christmas decorations. She wasn’t counting on the possible difficulties that could come up though.
“Oh, how did you do this?” she sighed, bending down to the bottom of the tree.
              Schrodinger was tangled in the lower branches of the tree. Part of the string of lights was wrapped around his middle. He was pawing at the branches, barely missing the dopamine structure ornament. Caitlin shook her head and untangled the cat. In return, she got a grateful purr.
“You’re so welcome,” she replied, scratching behind his ears.
Cisco leaned around from the other side of the tree. “How many more times do you think he’ll do that while the tree is still up?”
“He might have learned his lesson once,” Caitlin countered while she set Schrodinger on the couch.
“Or at least you hope so.”
              She shook her head as she unwrapped the last of the ornaments from the box she had. The one in her hand was a circular frame with a photograph of her roommates, plus Cisco and Ray, standing on the dock by a lake. It had been one of the last times that they had all been together before Gideon and Ray had graduated and they had slowly started to lose contact with each other. Caitlin was thankful that she’d picked up the phone all those months ago when Gideon called asking her if she was interested in getting an apartment with her and a few others. It had brought her back to the rest of her friends, although she’d never fallen out of touch with Cisco and Lily.
“Remember this?” she asked, holding up the ornament for Cisco to see.
Cisco grinned. “I remember tipping out of the canoe with you and Felicity. Gideon almost got poison ivy when we went hiking earlier that day. Lily got one of the worst sunburns ever.”
“Poor girl,” Caitlin shook her head. “She was so miserable.”
“Who was miserable?” Felicity asked as she and Lily entered the apartment.
“Lily,” Cisco and Caitlin said together as the latter held up the ornament. “We found the lake photo.”
The woman in question groaned. “I have never gone through so much aloe in my life before. That was a nightmare.”
“Gideon told you to wear sunscreen,” Felicity sing-songed as the fourth roommate came in with the mail.
“Who didn’t wear sunscreen?” Gideon asked as she passed Felicity her mail.
“Lily.”
“They found the lake photo.”
“You were miserable for weeks,” Gideon remembered. “By the way, I picked up some more things for the holiday party.”
“We got poppers,” Felicity grinned. “And we picked out everything that doesn’t scream Christmas.”
“Which was easier said than done,” Lily finished.
“That reminds me,” Cisco clapped his hands together. “I brought you guys some stuff for that.”
He retrieved a green bag and tossed it over to the girls. Gideon caught it and opened it up. Immediately, she frowned.
“Mistletoe?” Gideon was pulling out the mom glare. “Are you insane?”
“We can’t have that here!” Felicity cried. “Don’t you know it’s poisonous to cats?”
“Yes, I know, I looked it up,” Cisco sighed. “It’s all fake, so don’t worry. I’ll never do a thing to hurt Schrödinger.”
At the sound of his name, the cat mewed and leapt from the couch to the floor.
“You can string it up for your party,” he continued. “Maybe it could finally get two certain people to-”
Caitlin stepped on his foot.
“-once again make out like teenagers,” Cisco finished quickly. “I mean, Barry and Iris are coming, right?”
“Yep,” Gideon nodded. “But what can you expect from two people who are head over heels in love with each other? Still, they behave at parties.”
“As long as they go somewhere outside the apartment if they want to get super intimate,” Lily muttered under her breath.
“Back to the party for a moment,” Felicity spoke up. “You guys remember Oliver and Thea from Halloween? They were the bartenders from Verdant.”
“Yeah,” Caitlin nodded. “They were really nice.”
“Well, I invited them to the holiday party,” Felicity explained. “Oliver called me today to say that they’ll both be coming.”
“Oh fun,” Lily smiled. “It’ll be great to see them again.”
“It will,” Gideon agreed. “Rip told me on my way up that he and Jonas will be there too. Also, he’s coming over tonight for Secret Snowman drawings.”
“I’m glad you two are back on good terms again,” Caitlin told her. “Actually, I’m glad that we’re all getting along with him again.”
“Me too. It’d be a horrible holiday season if he was still mad at us.
“Plus, now you have someone to talk to at the party besides me,” Lily teased.
“And she won’t even have you because you’ll be too busy talking with Ray,” Cisco muttered.
Lily ducked her head and took the groceries they’d purchased to the kitchen. Caitlin elbowed Cisco for the remark.
“Pass me another ornament,” she asked as he rubbed his arm.
At her feet, Schrodinger was eyeing the lower branches of the tree.
              Felicity sighed as she walked out of another store. She’d used her lunch break to go investigating possibilities for her Secret Snowman gift. Three nights ago, she had pulled out Lily’s name from the hat. Ever since then, she had been struggling to think of a gift for her friend. Ugh, it shouldn’t have been this hard, right?
Her phone chimed in her pocket. Felicity pulled it out and smiled when she saw Oliver’s name on the screen.
Thea wants to know if we need to bring anything to the party.
Felicity slipped her gloves off and typed out a response. No need to unless you want to.
“Felicity?”
She froze in her steps and looked to her right. “Ray?”
“Hi,” he grinned as he walked over to her. “Are you shopping for Secret Snowman too?”
“Yep,” Felicity nodded. “I’m not having much luck. I don’t have you, by the way. Just letting you know, so you’re not going to be spoiled or anything. You don’t have to tell me who you have though, unless it’s me and then you definitely shouldn’t.”
“Don’t worry, Felicity, I don’t have you,” Ray chuckled. “I’ve actually got Caitlin.”
“Nice. I’ve got Lily, but I can’t figure out what I’m going to get her.”
“Ah,” Ray gave a nod.  “Well, you need to find something she likes and expand on it.”
“I know, I know,” Felicity sighed. “But I don’t know what.”
“Well, she likes Star Wars and Star Trek, but the latter slightly more,” Ray said. “So you can get her something related to that, like a USS Enterprise mug or some Star Fleet pajamas. There’s also coffee, so you can get her something like that. Maybe get her a green mug, since green’s her favorite color? Oh, or something crafty!”
Felicity shook her head through the whirlwind of information. “Wait, what?”
“Yeah,” Ray nodded. “During Halloween, she made this amazing webbing for Cisco’s party. It looked like the real deal. So maybe you can do something like that?”
“Huh,” she mused, remembering something from years ago. “I think I’ve got something now. Thanks, Ray.”
“Anytime,” her friend nodded as they passed another store. “I’m going to look in there to see if there’s something I can get for Caitlin.”
“Good luck,” Felicity said as they parted ways.
“I can’t believe that happened,” Lily uttered as she and Gideon entered the apartment. “I think I’ve still got goosebumps from the ending.”
“We just walked back here from the movie theater in the cold,” Gideon reminded her. “And honestly, how did you not see this coming?”
“Because I choose to have faith in humanity,” Lily defended. “Sometimes I expect that things are going to work out happily. Even in real life, good things will happen.”
Gideon shrugged. “Well, it was as realistic as you could get for such a complicated scenario.”
“Well, I need something to cheer me up now,” her foster sister muttered.
“Maybe we can do that?”
Both girls yelped and whirled around. However, their fright turned into joy as soon as they saw who was behind them.
“Ronnie!” Gideon cried, throwing her arms around him.
The doors to the complex opened again. “He’s not the only one who showed up.”
Lily’s face split into a grin. “Jax!”
              She dove at him in a hug as Ronnie spun Gideon around. Ronnie Raymond had been fostered by the Steins along with Gideon, although he’d been there longer by the time Gideon had been placed with them. Jefferson Jackson, although he always insisted on being called Jax, lived next door to them with his mother. They were like brothers to Lily and Gideon while they were growing up, and all of them kept in touch as regularly as they could as adults.
“I thought you were still in Ireland,” Gideon exclaimed to Ronnie as she let him go and went to hug Jax. “And shouldn’t you still be in your classes?”
“Hi, Gideon, I’m doing great,” Jax laughed as he hugged her. “Exams wrapped up for me yesterday. I’m free for the next few weeks.”
“And the engineering exchange wrapped up last week,” Ronnie added, tousling Lily’s hair. “We’re all back to Mercury Labs after New Year’s. But Jax and I thought we could stop up here to see our two favorite sisters.”
“That’s sweet of you,” Gideon said as she fixed her askew hat. “How long are you staying for?”
“We wanted to see if you guys wanted to grab dinner tonight?” Jax told them. “Unless you guys have something planned.”
“We actually have to set up some stuff for our holiday party tomorrow,” Gideon replied. “You two should stay for it. It’s going to be wonderful.”
“If you want, we could just have takeout in the apartment,” Lily offered. “You can say hi to Cisco and the other girls. Oh, and you can meet Schrodinger!”
“Yeah, you guys got a cat,” Jax nodded. “I’m down for it, but Ronnie’s my ride back home.”
“I’m fine to stay if you want to,” Ronnie assured him. “It’ll be nice to catch up with everyone again actually.”
“Wonderful,” Gideon smiled as she got their mail out. “If you two want to stay over, we’ve got a couch. Or I can give one of you my bed and sleep elsewhere.”
A wicked smile crossed Lily’s face before vanishing a moment later. “We can work things out. Plus, it’s cheaper for you to stay with us than in a hotel.”
“Thanks, guys,” Ronnie smiled. “We’ll help out with all we can for your party.”
“It’s no trouble,” Gideon told them.
“You two should have been here for Thanksgiving,” Lily said as they walked up the stairs. “Gideon told everyone the turkey story!”
“Like when Ronnie…” Jax gestured with his hands.
Lily nodded, and the boys began to laugh.
“My only regret is that I never got to see the look on Lily’s face,” Ronnie lamented.
“Awfully nice that you only have one regret from that,” Gideon grumbled. “I have several.”
“But Gideon,” Lily pouted. “You wouldn’t have such a great story to tell Rip then.”
“Who’s Rip?”
“You’ll see tomorrow.”
              Rip tugged the green sweater over his head. He had no idea what the dress code exactly was for the girls’ party. At least with the sweater, he could pass for casual or somewhat dressy. To an extreme, it could even reach ugly Christmas sweater in terms of having no décor at all. He doubted that was the kind of holiday party the girls were shooting for, although he didn’t doubt Cisco would show up in an ugly Christmas sweater.
“Jonas!” Rip called out to his son as he left his room. “Ready to go?”
              Jonas hurried out of his bedroom. His son was wearing a red sweater that Miranda had bought for him recently on her last visit. Despite the ongoing custody battle, Jonas was still getting along with both him and Miranda. The last thing Rip wanted was for his son to be bitter towards one of them. At least tonight was a night he could temporarily forget about that struggle and spend time with Gideon and the girls.
“Don’t forget the gift, Daddy,” Jonas said as he pointed to the gift bag on the couch.
“Of course not,” Rip plucked his Secret Snowman gift for Ray from the cushions. “Can you get one of the cookie trays for me?”
Jonas nodded and picked up the tray of gingerbread people. “Got it.”
              Rip held the door open for his son as he carefully carried the tray out. They’d had a fun afternoon together decorating the cookies for the party. He’d volunteered to bake the gingerbread when he’d drawn for Secret Snowman with the girls. All of them had agreed he could do so after the pies he’d brought for Thanksgiving. It had been fun to make the gingerbread after nearly a year, but it had also given him time with Jonas. He wasn’t certain how the custody battle would pan out, but at least he’d have these moments to look back on if he lost.
As they reached the apartment of the girls, Rip knocked on the door. To his surprise, none of the girls answered. A tall man with dark hair and a blue button-down opened the door and looked at them with confusion as sounds of the party filtered out of the room.
“Are you here for the party?” he asked slowly.
“Yes,” Rip nodded. “Rip Hunter, and this is my son, Jonas.”
“Rip?” Gideon ducked underneath the man’s arm. “Ronnie, I told you what Rip and Jonas looked like, don’t let them keep standing out there.”
“Sorry.” He stepped aside to let them in. “Didn’t know if my sister invited you or not.”
“Foster sister,” Gideon corrected.
“Still a sister to me.”
Rip raised his eyebrows. “You must be Ronnie Raymond then. Lily and Gideon have told me about you.”
Ronnie nodded. “All good things, I hope.”
“Gideon told us about the turkey,” Jonas piped up.
Ronnie shook his head. “Of course she did.”
Gideon smothered a giggle. “Jonas, I know Schrodinger’s around here somewhere if you want to go play with him. If that’s okay with your dad, of course.”
“He can,” Rip agreed. “I know he’s been looking forward to that.”
“Yay!” Jonas handed him the cookie tray and ran off in search of the cat.
              Rip smiled as he watched his son go in search of Schrodinger before taking in the rest of the apartment. Lights were strung up along the walls and ceiling. There was food on the island in the kitchen and a few pitchers filled with different liquids. Rip was able to catch sight of a few familiar faces in the party guests who were laughing and mingling about.
“Everything looks beautiful,” Rip told Gideon. “You and the girls did a great job.”
“Cisco and Ray helped out too,” Gideon replied with a shrug. “I’m glad you were able to make it.”
“Me too,” Rip agreed. “It’s good to get a break from everything that’s been happening recently.”
“I can only imagine,” Gideon said, leading him to the kitchen so he could set the gingerbread men down. “If you don’t mind me asking, how are things going with the custody battle.”
“As well as they can be. I hope this won’t be my last Christmas Jonas and I will be able to spend together, but lately I’m starting to worry that it might be.”
Gideon reached out and wrapped her hand around his. “Things will work out, Rip. You won’t lose Jonas.”
“I hope not,” Rip gave her hand a squeeze. “Thank you, Gideon.”
“Besides,” she picked up two glasses of punch and handed him one of them. “It’s the season of miracles. Anything could happen.”
Rip lifted his glass. “If you say so.”
Lily slid the blindfold into place. “Okay, someone spin me.”
“Gotcha,” Ray’s voice preceded his hands settling on her shoulders.
              She smiled a little as she was moved around in a circle. When Ray stopped her, Lily stretched out the hand that wasn’t holding the fabric with Velcro. She took baby steps forward, waving her hand about to serve as a guide to where she was going. After bumping into Amaya, she finally felt the edge of the fabric. Lily tapped her hand across it before sticking the Velcro onto the larger fabric.
Cisco chuckled. “Nice, Lily.”
Lily pulled the blindfold off to see her handiwork. Instead of attaching the carrot to the snowman’s face, it was in the center of his body.
“It’s not so easy when you can’t see,” she blushed as she retreated to hand the blindfold to Cisco.
“You didn’t do too bad,” Ray assured while pulling the carrot off to hand to Cisco. “I didn’t even get it on the body.”
“That was on your second try,” Lily reminded him. “The first time you had it sticking out like an ear.”
“Whatever happens, I’m going to nail this,” Cisco declared as Caitlin started to spin him around. “May the Force be with me.”
Lily sat on the edge of the couch so she was right next to where Ray was now standing. “Think he’ll get it?”
“Probably going to get it on the hand,” Ray predicted.
“That’s specific. I’m betting it’ll become a foot.”
“You two are ridiculous,” Caitlin said as she came over to them while Cisco took tiny steps forward. “If anything, he’s going get it in the middle.”
“Don’t worry, kitty,” Jonas climbed to his feet as Schrödinger looked in the direction his ball had gone. “I’ll get it back.”
              The boy ran in the direction where the cat’s ball had gone. He hadn’t meant to bounce it that hard, but it had flown over Schrodinger’s head and down the hallway. Hopefully it wasn’t going to roll into the living room. If someone tripped on it, that would be awful, especially if they got hurt.
              Jonas caught sight of the small blue ball resting against the wall. He hurried over to it and picked it up. Using his sleeve, he brushed a bit of the dust it had collected off. When he got back up to his feet, Jonas turned and saw something very interesting.
              He had learned all about mistletoe from various other Christmases. A spring hung from the ceiling straight ahead of him. Felicity was underneath it with another man. Jonas didn’t know his name, but he remembered him vaguely from Halloween. The two of them were kissing and they didn’t seem to be stopping. Gross.
Jonas wrinkled his nose and went back to find Schrodinger. After all, he needed to give the kitty back his ball.
              Once all the guests had left, the Secret Snowman participants remained. They spent some time taking down the decorations and packing away the food and drink. Oliver Queen, the Verdant bartender, stuck around for a little while to help them get the lights from the ceiling. Thea had left earlier, but both siblings had invited all of them to a New Year’s Eve party if they were interested. Felicity had already agreed to stop by, and the rest were considering it. As for Ronnie and Jax, they had gone out for a while so the others could have their gift-giving session.
“Gather around,” Felicity said once her roommates, Cisco, Ray, Rip, and Jonas were the only ones left. “It’s presents time.”
              Everyone brought out their gifts and set them on the coffee table. Once everyone except Jonas had put their parcel forward, they all sat down on the couch or in one of the chairs. After a few moments of silence and no volunteers to begin, Gideon finally pulled out a dice and had everyone pick a number. She rolled it after they all picked their number. The number five came up, which was Felicity’s.
Caitlin picked up the small box with Felicity’s name on the tag. “Here you go.”
“That’s from me,” Cisco said from beside her. “I hope you like it.”
Felicity unwrapped the ribbon and pulled the top off to reveal a necklace with various electronic bits on it. “Did you make this?”
“Yeah, remember how your computer died a few weeks ago?”
“That was a sad day,” Felicity lamented. “It was the first one I ever repaired and enhanced.”
“Those are the pieces from it,” Cisco explained. “I know I told you that I would get to the guy who could properly dispose it, but I didn’t get around to it. Then I drew your name and figured this could work as a way to remember it. I took apart the pieces, cleaned them up, and then made them into the necklace.”
Felicity fastened the necklace around her neck before diving forward to hug Cisco. “Thank you.”
              Felicity gave her gift to Lily next, which consisted of a few yarn skeins, some knitting needles, and a book of patterns. Lily squealed excitedly as the rest of the girls remembered how she had used to knit all the time in college. Her Secret Snowman had completely forgotten about it until Ray had reminded her. As a result, he and Felicity would be the first recipients of her new knitted goods.
              Lily then turned to give Gideon a gift bag filled with various kinds of hair dye, a callback to her rebellious youth. A smirk crossed her face, giving the others the idea she planned to use it later. From Gideon, Rip received a sampler of different kinds of cocoa. There were all kinds of types in the package, from normal to a peanut butter chocolate blend, along with a bag of marshmallows. As Rip unwrapped it, Jonas bounced up and down excitedly.
“Can we try it tomorrow, Daddy?” he squealed. “We can have it when we watch the movie we bought.”
“It’s not a bad idea,” Rip nodded. “Ray, I picked you out. I took some recommendations from Lily for this.”
              Ray pulled the wrapping paper off to find a stack of DVDs of different musicals. Rip had even included Singing in the Rain, which was one of his favorites. That was declared to be the next pick for movie night, which thankfully didn’t draw any protests. The discussion of musicals went on for a while before Ray remembered to give his gift to Caitlin, which was a paid vacation for her that she immediately blushed at.
“You didn’t have to go to all this trouble,” Caitlin told him.
“It wasn’t a problem,” Ray shook his head. “I hope you’re happy with it.”
“Yeah,” she nodded, her eyes falling to the last gift. “Cisco, I hope you like what I got you. It’s nothing like Ray’s.”
“I’m sure I’ll love it even more,” he replied, peeling back the wrapping paper.
When he caught sight of what Caitlin had given him, Cisco’s eyes widened. His mouth fell open in astonishment. Caitlin had given him a few new vintage comic books. However, she’d picked out the ones he had been searching for in a certain story arc. With these new ones, he owned every comic book in the arc now.
“Cisco?” Lily frowned. “Are you crying?”
He nodded. “It’s worth crying over when you now have every comic in a story arc.”
Everyone made appreciative noises in favor of it. Cisco turned to Caitlin with a smile. “Thank you, Cait.”
Caitlin embraced him. “Merry Christmas, Cisco.”
“And happy holidays all around!” Felicity cheered as she hugged Ray and Gideon on either side of her.
              Ray and Cisco left a little while after they opened presents. Rip then returned to his apartment with Jonas shortly after since the boy was getting sleepy. Felicity now sat on the couch, running her finger over her new necklace with a smile. Lily was sitting cross-legged beside her, casting on stiches with her new needles. Caitlin had Schrodinger in her lap and was stroking his fur. Jax and Ronnie were now back and playing cards.
Gideon emerged from the bathroom, a towel around her shoulders and the tips of her hair dark and damp. “The dye’s in.”
“All you need now is a gray hoodie and it’ll be like teen Gideon’s back,” Lily remarked.
“Don’t forget the eyeliner,” Ronnie added.
“I think it’s better for all of us if I don’t regress too far back into those years,” Gideon replied with a shudder. “I was a nightmare.”
“Yeah, but we still loved you,” Jax grinned. “By the way, Ronnie and I were talking, and we’re planning to head home tomorrow morning.”
“We’ll be sure to be up to say goodbye,” Caitlin told them as Schrodinger purred in her lap. “It was great to see you guys again. It’s been too long.”
“We’ll have to come back and visit again,” Ronnie smirked. “I didn’t get enough time to beat Cisco and Lily in Mario Kart again.”
Lily set her knitting down and huffed. “I still don’t think it counts when you cheat.”
“How’s it cheating?” Ronnie protested.
“You were distracting us!” Lily accused.
“It’s your fault for getting distracted.”
“So a dog walks into the room and cuddles up in my lap and I’m not supposed to take notice?”
“I was dogsitting, how could I control that?”
“Calm down, children,” Gideon chided.
Caitlin giggled and shook her head. “I’m heading to be. Night.”
“Night, Cait,” Felicity said.
              As Caitlin rose from her seat, she noticed something odd. On the side of Felicity’s neck, there appeared to be some kind of red mark partially obscured by her hair. It took a few seconds before Caitlin realized it was a hickey. Clearly Felicity had gotten up to something at the party earlier. Whatever it was, Caitlin figured she should mind her own business and let the mystery be.
That or she could wait and see if anything else happened before telling Lily and Cisco.
              Once she had changed into her pajamas, her phone buzzed on the nightstand. Caitlin padded over to it and unlocked it. Cisco had sent her a picture of all the comic books in his favorite arc, which was now totally complete. The caption read ‘Best gift ever’. She smiled and set a reply before shutting out her lights.
It seemed that the holiday season was shaping up to be great for everyone.

Summary: It started with Time’s black nails.  Time became friends with Arc as he wondered when his dad would come home.  MMLP Modern AU developed with @blazingsnark, where MM and LP are single dads to AT and PT.

The lights were off when Time turned the doorknob with one hand and entered the unlocked classroom.  With the flip of a switch, light flooded the empty room and blinded him for a moment before he blinked to adjust his eyes.  He threw his backpack on his desk near the back, where he could avoid the teacher’s judgmental sight and went to write the date and period on the whiteboard with a purple marker he always brought with him.  
He couldn't pretend to be the student that said they loved school, it sounded too nerdy and uncool.  It was hard to place his thoughts on what school was aside from what it was supposed to be: a place to go to everyday because it was his job and there was nowhere else for him, like it was Dad's job to go to work and come home if he remembered.  Not too different from what he did every day. 
Even though the optometrist warned not to, Time rubbed the patch covering his left eye.  It was hard not to.  They said it was temporary and that eye needed rest, but he felt ridiculous wearing it when it made him look like an anime character.  He paused on that thought with amusement.  Being an anime character sounded easier than going to middle school.  They spent more time saving the world than studying or worrying about what other kids said about each other.  
The clock’s big hand pointed to the number five when the door slammed open, hitting the wall adjacent to it with a thud.  He jolted from where he stood, still at the board and gazing at the schedule written from last week.  Standing at the door wasn't the teacher, but a student.  They walked to where Time was and stared at his writing with disapproval.  
“Morning,” Time greeted them.  
“So you're the one writing on the board,” they mumbled, grimacing like there was something on his face.  “Did you finish last weekend’s homework?”
“A little,” Time lied.  Of course he finished it, and the reading too.  “You're early today.”  He gestured his hand over to the clock.
They grabbed his arm and raised it to reveal black nails painted on all five digits, “Hey, Halloween’s over.”
Time’s mind froze, wide eyed that this was happening.  He threw his arm the opposite direction, ripping it away from them with shame and rage floating through his mind.  So what if he thought black nails were cool after watching his cousin paint her nails before asking if he wanted to learn.  He thought black nails would be better than the red nail polish his cousin wanted to apply on him.  
“You're weird,” they commented while Time struggled to conjure something to say.  He was never one to really talk back and he didn't want to deal with this person either.  
Time shrunk away from their words and sank back his seat with dread.  He should have spoken up when he had the chance, but something stopped him from even moving his lips.  The student was already walking away and talking to someone else in the classroom, no point in trying.  It would make him sound like he's trying too hard to sound tough.  
“Are you okay?”
Time turned to see his neighbor look at him with concern, fluffy jacket ruffled as he slipped it off his back to reveal a boy with white hair.  Huh...Arc was early today, an unusual gesture when he was almost always late to homeroom.  
“It's nothing,” Time shook his head, although he glanced at his nails again.  They were a little off and he could have done a better job with the coating, but he thought they were good for the first time.  
“Did you paint your nails black?” Arc asked.  Oh no, not him too… “Cool!”
Was this guy stupid?  Time checked his face if he was joking, but saw the other smiling with that dumb fringe flopped over one side of his face.  Arc usually talked to other people around them, why him today?  He did well on tests, so it couldn't be to copy off him.  
“Um...sure,” was all Time could muster, uncomfortable of being stared at.  They sat next to each other in three periods, why was this awkward?
“Can you show me how to do that?” Arc asked, “Wanna hang out sometime?”
“For what?” That came out more blunt than intended.  Time mumbled a sorry, but Arc wasn't fazed and laughed.  
“I dunno,” he shrugged.  “The mall?  The arcade?”
There was an arcade close to his house, but he never went inside before.  It was always dark when he peeked inside with neon lights flashing from the machines with teenagers shrieking.  He wasn't sure if he wanted to go in.  
“Don’t we have a test coming up?” Time asked.
“Gross,” Arc said with no sign of worry about said test.   
What was he doing saying no to someone wanting to hang out with him?  Test or not, he had more than enough time to study for it.  Arc was annoying and talked a lot in class, but never intentionally bothered him or tried being snarky to him, although the occasional snide comments he made in class were worth a chuckle.  
“Okay, but it’s Friday.” Arc waved his hand, “Who studies on Fridays?”
Heat traveled up Time’s ears as he stopped himself from blurting out embarrassing things that could only mess him up further.  Okay, so maybe he had too much time, but did Arc have to make it sound stupid?  Pushing aside his pride from telling Arc to fuck off, Time rubbed his face to see that it was still hot.  He needed to stop overreacting to stuff like this before turning permanently red.
Time said.  “What’s so special about this arcade that I can’t do the same at home?”
“One, it has the newest, coolest, games, like that shooting game that lets you fight as a robot.  Two, awesome prizes.  They’re going to put up that new console when it comes out and there’s even a hoverboard!  Glide to class in style and never being late to class again.”  Arc demonstrated himself balancing on his seat with a stupid grin.  “And three, they have the best fries.”    
“I think you need that hoverboard more than me,” Time snorted.  “The Switch isn’t coming out for another year and what game are you even going to get with that?”
“What I’m trying to say here is, you’re missing out.”  
Time asked, “You’re not going to make me do stupid dumb like karaoke, are you?”
“What?  No!” Arc laughed, “But if you want…”
Time placed his hand in front of Arc to shut up, “Tell me about those games.”    
Arc had a jacket too big for his size thrown over his shoulders and his shoes half way done when Time caught up later that day.  When they stepped inside, bright lights flickered from giant screens coming from different directions and packed with people.    
The ceiling was decorated like the night sky with dim lights, packed with arcade games that would make any teen burn away their week’s saving on the whim.  Shooting games, claw machines, rhythm games, and many untranslated games imported from a foreign country flashed in blinding colors, but that made Time as ecstatic as Arc, who was beaming.   
“You haven't been here, right?” Arc led him through the rows of machines.  “I have enough for some games, so we can use my card.  I almost have enough tickets for the big prize.”
Oh, he wanted him to help earn tickets.  Time thought it made sense, seemed fair since this was Arc’s money they were using.
“I’ve spent months trying to win this and Psych’s been helping me too,” Arc said as he led him through the side of the arcade that led to a room filled with prizes hanging off shelves and set behind glass cases.  Tags hung over all of them with big numbers to indicate the tickets required to trade for them.    
There were necklaces, stickers, plastic figurines on the lower shelves, stuff Time assumed to be the ones requiring less tickets.  On the higher shelves were stuffed animals of standard size, star shaped lamps, even game consoles.  Standing in the back was a black rabbit plush with pink beaded eyes, the size of a small child and easily taking up half of his bed if he was to measure it.
“What are you looking at?” Arc asked when he caught Time staring at the plush.
Time averted his eyes, careful not to look at Arc either, “So what’s the prize?”  He scanned the shelves for what he thought Arc would have his eyes fixed on.  What could Arc want that costed so much?
“There’s a steel metal frame bike back there,” Arc pointed to the one sitting behind the counter, “It can do tricks and it’s supposed to be fast.”
“Neat,” Time leaned over to see the black handlebar sticking out.  It had silver linings too and the cushion seat didn’t look uncomfortable, better than the ones used for kid bikes.  It was no surprise that it was one of the more expensive prizes.  “You really think we can win enough for it?”  
“If we play enough, yeah.”  Arc waved his card around and flashed a grin, “Don’t bother with the claw machines.  The real money comes from the shooters.”  
“You mean that new game they just released?”
Giant robots, feminine looking men, and girls in skimpy outfits holding laser guns several times their size seemed to be the aesthetic when Time saw the posters.  It didn’t take long to find the machine.  It was the newest one with polished screens and it had a line.  A pink haired girl with an energetic voice greeted them when they swipe Arc’s card to begin.  It took another few minutes for them to get past the character selection page - no customizing, but plenty of characters pick and choose.  
“We get two guns?” Time almost dropped his when he discovered it was two guns held together by a magnetic force.  He glanced over his shoulder to mirror Arc, who separated the two and pointed at the screen to select the ready button.  It was a shooting game, couldn’t be too complicated.   
There wasn’t much time for talk because the game threw them head first into a city empty of civilians and filled with robots.  The cheery voice from the title screen was back and throwing them orders in a language neither could understand.  All Time could do was use the icons and green arrows for guidance as he and Arc attempted to follow the game’s cue to fulfill its demands.     
“Got it!” Arc cheered when he shot down a few robots and slammed the two guns together for a bigger shot, “Did you see that?”  
Time looked over to see a cleared screen of enemies fading into the background before another wave showed up.  He gasped in shock when he turned back to see his character was losing too much health and slapped his finger into the trigger to clear his own screen.  
“Is that it?” Time frowned when there was a delay on both of their screens.  How many kills did Arc have?  
There was a loud sound coming from their screens when a bigger robot crashed in with a thud, only allowing giving Time a couple of seconds to move his character to narrowly avoid getting hit before shooting at it.  He saw Arc follow suit, but he was less than lucky and had half of his health points lost.  After they finished off the final boss, a smaller screen with red numbers popped out to display their scores, comparing their number of kills and health lost.
It was a tie.  
Time wiped his brow, still in awe when he looked away from the screen.  His eyes felt strange looking into darkness again after the rainbow flood his vision.  He had to grasp the head of his seat when he got off to avoid falling over.  They had to play that again.  
“Look at how much we won,” Arc ripped out a line of tickets for show.  “Seven tickets each, that’s fourteen.”
Time grabbed his tickets from Arc with a content expression, “How many tickets did you say you needed?”
As they jumped to the next machine, Time found himself lost in the midst of it all.  There was no feeling of rush when they ran through the rhythm games or when Arc tried to pull something from the claw machine with no success.  It wasn’t until he checked his phone did he realize how much time has passed.  
“I should have been home an hour ago,” Time groaned, “Dad won’t be happy.”  
“I can’t come over?” Arc sounded guilty.  “We can study if you want, I have my stuff.”
“I guess you can,” Time said.
Well...if they were studying, maybe Dad would let it slip when it’s related to school.  Time prayed that his dad wouldn’t mind having someone over when he didn’t warn him ahead of time.  He texted him anyway when they left the arcade to be safe, but not before he stole a glance from the black rabbit at the prize shop.  Maybe he could come back alone next time.          
They were greeted by an empty house when they stepped into Time’s house with their backpacks on the floor.  It was well furnished with a black sofa pushed against lavender painted walls and a chair to the side with a coffee table in the middle to match with the furniture.  Books cluttered the bookshelves and the white carpet didn’t look past a day of its installment.  The only signs of someone living in the house was a black cat using the scratch post in the corner when it heard its owner and started meowing.  Ah...Paranoia was hungry.    
After feeding the cat and fixing up a quick after school snack of cheese and crackers, they sat on the living room floor with their legs crossed and their backpacks on the opposite side of them.  Textbooks and notes spread out with pens and papers scattered on the coffee table.  
“Have you ever tried painting your nails other colors?” Arc asked as he flipped over to skim over the review questions at the end of the chapter, pressing his finger into temple in concentration.  
“Black is a better color,” Time said without second thought, never mind that he knew Arc was trying to change topics to avoid studying his least favorite subject.  He thought it was funny watching his friend make a face at the history book cover.  “What answer did you get for the last question?”
“A person living under a king or dictator,” Arc checked his book to see if he was right and sighed.  “Yeah, black is awesome, but what if you painted it blue or green?  Or rainbow?” He asked with a mischievous gleam in his eyes.  
“No one is going to take me seriously,” Time complained.  “How about I add sparkles to your nails and make it rainbow.”  
“Ooh, scary.”  The other laughed at his threat, “You don’t know how to do that.” 
He painted his nails with one color before, but six?  Time wasn’t sure if he had enough faith in his nail painting skills when he had only done it a few times, although painting Arc’s nails in bright neon colors wasn’t a bad idea.  
“I can always watch videos to learn how,” Time grinned.
Arc turned to make a comeback, but his expression faltered when the door opened.   
Walking into the living room was a man somewhere in his thirties, wearing a black turtleneck with a white labcoat in his arms.  His face was as pale as Time’s when Esper saw the eleven year olds sitting on the floor.
“D-dad, you’re home early,” Time squeaked.  There weren’t any texts from him mentioning coming home today, did something happen?   
“Lab closed early today because the boss’s kid got sick,” Esper said.  “Did I interrupt something?”
“No, we’re almost done.”  Time shook his head, still getting over that his dad was home and it wasn’t a weekend.  The next holiday wouldn’t be for another month or so and Esper wasn’t sick.   
Esper nodded at Arc, “I’m Time’s father.  And you are...”  
“Arc, sorry for intruding,” Arc said with pink cheeks.  
“You’re welcome to come here if Time invites you,” Esper said, but he looked like he would rather be somewhere else.  He glanced at Arc’s features with an unreadable expression, eye moving over to scrutinize Time.  
Time wished he yelled at Arc to stay a little bit longer because when he left, the house was silent again.  He knew Esper was going to bombard him with questions because it has been years since he last invited someone his age to come over like this.  The kitchen smelled of Esper’s amazing cooking, but it didn’t make up for the awkwardness between father and son.  
“I bought you new nail polish,” Esper said when they were at the table.  “It’s the brand you wanted.”  
Time smiled in appreciation that Esper remembered, even if he only said it once or twice when he ran out of black nail polish.         
“So, where is that from?” Esper saw a new addition hanging off his backpack.  It was a keychain of a monster from one of those handheld games, a turtle with a plant sprouting from its back. “I don’t remember buying that.”    
“Arc gave it to me,” Time said.  In the end, there wasn’t enough tickets for the bike, but impulse fell over them and they agreed to get keychains from the prize shop.  He had a turtle and Arc got the penguin.  There was a third one, a monkey, but Arc took it and said he thought it was funny looking.  As long as it went under one hundred tickets, no harm.  “We went to the arcade and won them.  We studied too, I’ll clean up-”
“We can clean up later,” Esper said, uncomfortable when Time gave him that wide eyed look at the word ‘we’.  “Um...  work gave me vacation next month and Christmas is coming up.  We’ll have a few free weeks and plane tickets will be gone quick.  Is there anywhere you want to go?”  
Last year, they went to the tropical islands and he got to skip a few days of school early with Esper telling the teachers he was sick.  The water was warm and clear unlike the cloudy river not too far from their house and the sand was as fine as silk.  He liked the idea of going somewhere where work couldn’t call Esper away from him, but then he thought about Arc, who didn’t mention about going away for Christmas.  If he went away, that meant being away from home and by the time they get back, he would have to worry about school again.   
“We don’t have to go anywhere,” Time stared at his feet, away from Esper’s surprised expression.  “Can we spend Christmas at home this year?  And drink hot chocolate like we did with M-, the other year?”  
Esper’s hot chocolate wasn’t the premade ones that came in packets from the supermarket, but homemade from years of experimenting and the cookies that came along with it always had the right amount of sugar.  He used to let Time decorate them with buttercream frosting from a recipe they found online that no longer existed.  With ugly sweaters and blanket draped, it was almost easy to forget it was snowing outside.       
The man turned off the stove and went to grab two plates for them, not answering immediately with a stiff expression on his face while calculating a proper response.  When he came back with food, he placed them at the table, biting his cheek with his eyes blinking.   
“You want to stay home?” Esper handed the utensils from the drawer to Time for him to set up the table.  “If that’s what you want…”
The man was startled when Time pulled him into a tight hug, arms wrapped around his thin waist with his head against his chest.  Esper gave him awkward pats on the head, but didn’t wriggle out of the embrace and let Time stay there. 
Esper relaxed when they separated from the hug.  Today’s dinner was different for many reasons.  For Time, it was sitting at a table with Esper instead of coming home to leftovers with a text from him that he was going to be late again.  For Esper, it was harder to tell, but Time thought it was because he was having a good day to be away from work.  Even though the holidays were still a month away, he wished for November to pass by faster so he could get to spending time with Esper and hanging out with Arc.  
After he helped washed the dishes and brought his stuff back to his room.  Time said nothing when he joined Esper in the living room to clear his books and learning material, but he couldn’t help but wonder if he should have said something.  Perhaps he was wrong in thinking spending time with him was all it took to make Esper happy.      
Author Notes: I have no excuse in writing this except I want happy Time to be friends with Arc and Psych so he won’t be lonely ; w;.  I haven’t introduced Psych yet, but I want to in another fic.  Please let these children be happy.  I decided to write from Time’s POV because I realized I’ve never done that before, so I wanted to change that and practice writing from someone else’s perspective.  Thank you @dezimaton and @zeloree for beta reading and helping me out with the details!
