#so first of all i'm not jewish.#but i feel like i occupy a relatively weird position with respect to judaism.#because the neighbourhood in which i grew up was like...30-50% jewish?#it was jewish enough that the local families requested and got a hebrew immersion programme at the local elementary school#that operated in parallel to the english programme that i attended#and about half of my friends growing up were jewish.#and so i absorbed a lot of the surface-level details of the religion by a sort of osmosis#like...i knew the dates and significance of the various jewish holy days#and i knew a smattering of phrases in hebrew (phonetically); most of them apparently quite rude#and we occasionally did jewish religious songs in choir (some of them admittedly lifted from the 'Prince of Egypt' soundtrack)#and once when i was in high school i was on a trivia team; and we asked a run of questions about judaism;#and i was the only one who knew them even though (i swear to god) i was the non-Jewish player on either team#(and then when i was much older i almost married a jewish enby and i would even have tried to convert for them#but our relationship fell apart for unrelated reasons)#but one of the things that was drilled into me when i was growing up (by my dad who grew up under similar circumstances)#was that you don't criticise Israel; it's antisemitic to criticise Israel#(which made for a lot of fraught moments as a teenager given that i was watching the second Intifada on the news)#and the thing is even now in the face of what seems pretty unambiguously to be a genocide against the Palestinians#i find that i'm more circumspect about criticizing israel than i would be just about any other country under the same circumstances#like i was writing things like 'fuck saudi arabia' when they were murdering houthis in yemen#but 'fuck israel'?#even though a little harsh language is least of what that regime deserves#ugh#i feel like i'm privy to the death of a dream that was never even mine.#personal#religion

I feel like in the U.S. we should be holding protests against U.S. military trainings in Africa or something. Not that it would convince the U.S. government to stop doing something they’re so heavily invested in financially but it would be a good central message to direct some of the current energy towards and would make more people aware of one of the ways that neocolonialism operates and would hopefully be carried forward into future movements

Optimizing Fleet Operations with Logical Reasoning
Running a fleet, whether for deliveries, taxis, or construction crews, can be a logistical maze. Streamlining operations translates directly to a healthier bottom line.
In this article we present a strategic framework that utilizes logical reasoning at every step. This approach, encompassing needs assessment, objective setting, data analysis, data-driven changes, meticulous monitoring, and continuous adaptation, transforms your fleet from simply functional to a well-oiled machine driving organizational success.
Needs Assessment & Objective Setting
The key to a successful fleet operation lies in a thorough assessment, and logical reasoning takes center stage in assessment. By analyzing your current landscape, you can identify problems and set well-defined objectives.
Identifying Operational Inefficiencies:
Don’t rely solely on intuition. Apply logical reasoning to pinpoint areas for improvement. Are fuel costs steadily rising? Do deliveries consistently fall behind schedule? Are maintenance schedules haphazard and reactive? These are all indicators that optimization is necessary.
Tumblr media
Setting SMART Objectives:
Once you’ve identified problematic areas, use logic to translate them into achievable goals. SMART objectives are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. For example, instead of simply stating “reduce fuel costs,” a more logical and actionable objective would be “Reduce fuel consumption by 10% within the next six months.” This clear objective allows you to track progress and measure success with greater precision.

Innovative Technologies Transforming Operations and Maintenance Company in Saudi Arabia
The operations and maintenance landscape in Saudi Arabia is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the adoption of innovative technologies. This evolution is particularly evident in the logistics services and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) sectors, where advanced solutions are enhancing efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This article explores three key technological advancements revolutionizing operations and maintenance companies in Saudi Arabia.
Digital Twins and Predictive Maintenance
Digital twins and predictive maintenance are at the forefront of technological innovations transforming the operations and maintenance industry. A digital twin is a virtual replica of a physical asset, system, or process that uses real-time data to simulate, predict, and optimize performance. By leveraging digital twins, companies can monitor equipment and infrastructure in real-time, predict failures before they occur, and schedule maintenance activities more effectively. This not only reduces downtime and maintenance costs but also extends the lifespan of critical assets.
In the logistics services sector, digital twins are used to optimize supply chain operations. For instance, they can simulate warehouse layouts and transportation routes to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements. Predictive maintenance, powered by IoT sensors and data analytics, ensures that vehicles and equipment are serviced proactively, minimizing disruptions and enhancing reliability.
IoT and Big Data Analytics
The Internet of Things (IoT) and big data analytics are pivotal in revolutionizing operations and maintenance practices. IoT devices collect vast amounts of data from machinery, infrastructure, and environmental conditions. This data is then analyzed using advanced analytics tools to gain insights into operational performance and identify potential issues.
In the EPC construction industry, IoT sensors are embedded in construction equipment and materials to monitor usage, wear and tear, and environmental impact. Big data analytics enables construction firms to optimize resource allocation, improve safety standards, and enhance project timelines. For operations and maintenance companies, these technologies facilitate remote monitoring and control of assets, enabling real-time decision-making and improving operational efficiency.
Augmented Reality and Remote Assistance
Augmented reality (AR) and remote assistance are emerging as game-changers in the operations and maintenance sector. AR overlays digital information onto the physical world, providing technicians with real-time guidance and visual instructions during maintenance tasks. This reduces the likelihood of errors and accelerates the repair process.
Remote assistance, enabled by AR and other communication technologies, allows experts to provide support from anywhere in the world. In the logistics services industry, for example, remote assistance can help resolve equipment malfunctions quickly, ensuring minimal disruption to supply chain operations. In EPC construction projects, AR can be used for virtual site inspections and progress tracking, enhancing collaboration and reducing travel costs.
Promoting TALKE Engineering Solutions
As Saudi Arabia continues to embrace these innovative technologies, leading companies like TALKE are at the forefront of this transformation. TALKE Engineering Solutions offers comprehensive services that integrate digital twins, IoT, and AR to optimize operations and maintenance. Their expertise in EPC construction and logistics services ensures that projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. By adopting TALKE's advanced solutions, businesses in Saudi Arabia can enhance their operational performance, reduce costs, and achieve sustainable growth in a competitive market.
In conclusion, the integration of digital twins, IoT, big data analytics, and AR is revolutionizing the operations and maintenance industry in Saudi Arabia. These technologies are not only improving efficiency and reliability but also driving innovation across logistics services and EPC construction. Companies like TALKE Engineering Solutions are leading the way, providing cutting-edge solutions that ensure the success and sustainability of their clients' operations.

Biden administration’s flawed response to Yemen attacks increases possibility of regional war
The United States has responded to attacks by ANsar Allah (commonly refer to as the Houthis) on commercial shipping in the Red Sea the only way it knows how–by sending huge, expensive military hardware into the area. In my latest piece at Mondoweiss, I examine why this is happening, what it portends, and why a more thoughtful approach would make a lot more sense.

This is why I do not call for the destruction or dismantling of countries. This is why I am wary and judgmental of those of you who do.
You sound like my right-wing father. You sound like the worst of American society.
I grew up in the 90’s. I grew up during a military operation called “Desert Storm”. To most people, they know it as the Gulf War. I grew up with a military father. I grew up with right-wing rhetoric. I grew up with someone who called for the destruction of countries.
“Glass the Middle East and turn it into a parking lot” was a very common sentiment at the time, and not just from my father. By “glass”, people mean to bomb these countries (many of which are deserts) so brutally that the sand itself melts into glass.
It is a call for genocide. It is the call for the dismantling of entire countries because their governments were “too evil”.
(Of course, that’s just the line the public was fed. Behind the scenes, it was also largely about access to oil, and we all know that)
The Gulf War was specifically about Iraq, but let’s be clear: Americans did not give a fuck which country it was, “The Middle East” was talked about as a single entity that was evil because it was Muslim. The civilians of these countries were simultaneously evil guerrilla combatants (because they were Muslim) and victims needing “liberation” by Americans. American soldiers were described as bringing “freedom” to the poor oppressed ignorant people of the Middle East. My father still hates all Muslims to this day.
10 years later, 9/11 happened.
Time will never erase the stomach-clenching fear I felt. Not fear of Saudi Arabia. I was 17 by then and I knew better. No, I was afraid FOR them, because I knew what America would do, and I hated it. I saw the people all around me once again calling for the destruction of a country, a government, and deciding America had the right to do it. I watched people froth at the mouth and pound their chests the chance to attack another middle eastern country. Islamophobic propaganda was absolutely everywhere, and life in America for anyone even suspected of being Muslim was a living hell.
So do excuse me when I side-eye you as you call for Israel’s destruction. Excuse me if I roll my eyes when you claim Hamas are “freedom fighters”. Excuse me when I hear you spreading blatant antisemitic propaganda like it’s truth. Excuse me as I see you blocking Jewish students on campuses, attacking synagogues, and screaming antisemitic slurs at Jewish school children.
Because at the end of the day, all of you calling for Israel’s destruction sound like my father.. It doesn’t matter what your justification is. I just see the same hatred that has consumed Americans since the 90’s aimed at MENA countries. You’ve just moved on to the next target. I grew up with this hateful rhetoric and I REJECTED it.
Why have you embraced it?
“But this time the country we’ve chosen to hate and that we’re saying deserves to be glassed actually deserves it! This time the civilians really are evil!”
Yeah. Sure.

Informed Yemeni sources reveal to The Cradle that the US offered Sanaa – in exchange for its neutrality in the ongoing Gaza war – “an acknowledgment of its legitimacy.” This would involve severely reducing the role of the Saudi-backed Presidential Council led by Rashid al-Alimi and accelerating the signing of a roadmap with Riyadh and Abu Dhabi to end the aggression against Yemen. The sources further reveal that the Americans pledged to immediately release withheld Yemeni public sector salaries from the National Saudi Bank, lift the country’s siege entirely, reopen Sanaa Airport, ease restrictions on the port of Hodeidah, and facilitate a comprehensive prisoner exchange agreement with all involved parties. In terms of reconstruction, the sources say: [Washington] pledged to repair the damages, remove foreign forces from all occupied Yemeni lands and islands, and remove Ansarallah from the State Department’s ‘terrorism list’ – as soon as they stop their attacks in support of Gaza. Despite these tempting offers, which have been the subject of negotiations between Sanaa and Riyadh for over two years, the Yemenis remained steadfast. Ansarallah leader Abdel Malik al-Houthi’s consistent position, as reiterated in his speeches, has been to continue operations as long as Israeli aggression against Gaza persists.
