Mason Hewitt comes from a huge family, he’s the youngest of eleven kids. His mom and dad have really good well-paying jobs and also loads of time for their kids.

Malia protected Lydia during her night in the woods in s2. Just wrapped her little coyote self around this helpless human.

Harley, Scott and Stiles were a trio as a kids. And a really chaotic one that made loads of people crazy. Theo hovered at the edge of that trio for all of fourth grade.

Hunters do a lot of adopting/acquiring, especially for the men. The way Gerard is like: "I would kill my own son" and the way Chris looks at him has always made me think Chris was not really his son. I also think hunters foster their kids out and Chris spent some time being trained/raised by Araya and that's why they have a relationship before s4.

Deucalion is independently wealthy as heck. Like so much money he could never spend it all.

Lydia's powers manifested in many ways pre-canon. That's why her dad asks about her in the way he does in the s1 teacher conference. He's convinced its happening again, much like it happened with his mother. We also see her drawn to her grandmother's death in the flashback. Lydia is smart enough to learn early on that it's best *not* to be different and has been unconsciously suppressing her powers for ages before Peter forces them into the open.

Melissa inherited the house she and Scott live in.

Claudia and Melissa were friends. They were thrilled when their own sons became attached at the hip.

Satomi was bitten during the 1918 influenza pandemic and came to the States shortly after.

Kali and Jennifer had a romantic relationship. (is this a head canon? It seems v implied to me.) Coach Finstock is supernatural, somehow and has a rivalry with the notigtsune that he does not remember. But it's why he specifically takes an arrow.

Noshiko and Satomi become friends after the events of the Fox and Wolf and keep in touch.

Allison and Jackson speak frequently after he moves to London and he's devastated when Scott has to make that phone call after she dies.

Paige worked for Dr. Deaton at the animal clinic.

Cora becomes an alpha in South America.

Corey and Mason get married.

Alicia Boyd and Tara Raeken were friends in school.

Ken has won numerous chili cook-offs and is a reigning champion in the chili cook off circuit.

Scott speaks some Spanish. Enough to know when his dad is saying bullshit and to speak with his grandma.

Best Teen Wolf Character: Round 2

@mia6363 said to come yell at them on tumblr if one so desired and i’m planning to take full advantage of that invitation.

and i guess usually i would yell, i do have a surprising affinity for incoherent all-caps key smashes, but it feels wrong to do that with this fic. i just lived seven years in a glass cell in a basement in one night, i don’t feel like being loud or wasting my breath.

this is genuinely one of the best fics i have read in my entire life. i even hesitate a little to call it a ‘fic’, because this doesn’t even feel like a byproduct of teen wolf, aside from the fact that all art in a way is a byproduct of something. for me, this is so much more than just twirling your blorbos and making them fall in love with each other again and again in a multitude of different ways (i respect that too, btw, i am a huge fan of blorbo twirling). this was a full, independent story that spanned so much wider and greater than what it came from.

i am absolutely obsessed with everything about the storytelling here. the way different parts of stiles’ life before captivity come together to shape his reality and actions during the captivity, and how they crashed and burned when stiles broke free and got to experience them again. how every step stiles takes, every decision he makes, is overshadowed with voices from his past, the way nothing he does comes from nowhere even if some of it took root before he could even consciously acknowledge the impact it had on him. and the way i, as reader, was immersed in this process, good fucking god. i almost took screenshots at some especially gut-wrenching moments, but i always ended up stopping myself from doing that, because even imagining somebody perceiving a part of this work out of context felt incredibly wrong for some reason. i’m probably being too reverent and over the top about this, but i also don’t fucking care, this is my sacred text.

and all the characters, just… yeah. i’m dead. satomi ito, they could never make me hate you or your beautiful husband. every story, every character’s motivation and psychological path throughout the story just made so much sense. i could see all of them so clearly and obviously, by themselves and especially when they came together. did i already say i’m obsessed?? because, as i write this, i just realize how much i’m fumbling my words because i simply have no fucking idea how to express the way the complexity, coherence and ingenuity of this work makes me feel.

and when i try to wrap my head around the fact that there’s an actual human being behind this story, my fucking brain explodes. HOW????? how is this man made??? how was this not woven together by the galactic matter since the inception of the world as we know it????? don’t even look at me, my brain is literally leaking out of my ears at this point, i’m so overwhelmed. in short, i feel about the author of this fic pretty much the same way any sane person in the fic feels about stiles. this is some true alpha shit right there.

i feel like there’s so much more i want to say but also nothing i could actually manage to put into words, so yeah. just. this is incredibly great and very cool👍 go read this immediately if you haven’t already OR ELSE. ♾️/10, there’s no other way around it. absolutely AM recommending.

Characters talking about Derek

What I mean by this is when sometimes, throughout the show, someone said something almost unnotible or that almost no one would really give much tought about Derek, but nothing rude or bad, just some 'complimentes' you might say.

Satomi

Like in 4x7, during the virus outbreak and Satomi is in the hospital with Derek, Deaton and Melissa.

Sorry, I just noticed how much you remind me of Talia

She said this while looking at Derek, and he looked down for a second.

Maybe she saw something in him, not only the resemblances with his mother, maybe she saw Talia's morals and values is Derek before he did himself or anyone else. Maybe she meant Derek could be like his mother: someone you can got for advice and guidance, someone you can rely onto but that will hold you accountable.

And maybe Derek looked down cause he would never think of himself that way, he would never see how much of his mother he has inherited (and not his beauty or stuff like that) and how much potential he's holding within himself, but Satomi sees it and can't help but smile and be a bit sad. Smile because there'll be someone like Talia - guidance, relyable, strong and respected - and sad cause Talia isn't there anymore and because Derek never really got the change to learn a lot from her.

Yet Satomi complimented him kindly, hoping he would eventually be somehow like his mother.

Chris

In season 6B, when he's asked if he 'believes in werewolves' as if they are legends, he says this:

I believe in Derek Hale

which might just be a way to reintroduce his character in the show, but let's give it some depth.

Chris have seen Derek go from 'bad' to good guy, and he also knows (if I remeber correctly) that Derek 'goes around bringing justice' - let's put it like that.

Chris is not a man to believe in legends and superstitions, that's why he believes in Derek. He's very much real and maybe to Chris, Derek is someone who knows justice (and before anyone says something, everyone has different views of it, I know) and who actually does something to ensure it in the world, even if just in a small part of it.

Derek gives his life at risk to ensure other's justice and put himself up as a jury and decides the verdict. And maybe Chris sees in this someone worth believing in, deserving to be believed and not as a legend, but as someone who does something.

Noah

Of course I have to put what the sheriff says about Derek in the movie.

I have never seen anyone take the kind of punishment that Derek Hale took… And kept taking… In order to protect the people he loved.

Maybe Noah sees half of what Chris sees but also someone who knows love and sacrifice, not only justice and maybe even revenge.

To the sheriff, Derek is someone willing to risk his life endlessly to save those he loves, arriving to the point that he completely sacrifice himself and dies.

He loves his people, he does it with his whole heart and Noah knows it, he knows Derek Hale, who lost everything time and time again, would give up his life and did it to save other people, leaving his son behind to save him (along with others too).

Noah knows Derek's heart, how resilient it is and how much love it holds.

Stiles

So, Stiles had not really 'complimented' Derek, he was more 'protective' of him.

Stiles freezes for a second, he did give Derek the benefit of the doubt and he had to fight to prove he wasn't the bad guy, he never really saw Derek as someone 'completely evil'.

To Stiles, Derek is just another person who went through shit and had to deal with it on his own, he knows Derek isn't evil, he knows it by heart cause he trusts him with proof, Derek's worthy of trust to Stiles' eyes while Scott gives his trust to everyone regardless of them deserving it.

"Did Scott try to kill you on the full moon? Did you have to lock him up?" "I did handcuff him to a radiator, why? Would you prefer I locked him in the basement and burned the whole house down around him?" Chris & Stiles

Stiles stands by Derek's side and doesn't accept the hunter's way of handling things - even if isn't aware that Chris didn't do it - and say it straight in his face. Stiles sees the cruelty Derek had to endure, not simply cause he lost his family, but also because the hunters trapped them and burned them alive.

Stiles doesn't agree with such cruelty and anger, he understands Derek somehow, they both lost some family memebers and since the whole Hale family's death wasn't necessary to Stiles' eyes, he's angry for Derek.

Also, even if in this Stiles didn't say anything, he did something very meaningful:

He didn't have to say anything, while everyone went to Boyd's body, he went to Derek. He knew Derek didn't want to do that and felt guilty for his death despite he was forced to do it. Stiles choose Derek.

Stiles saw Boyd's body and Derek staying still, and decided to comfort Derek, standing by his side and 'grounding' him.

But then we also have when Stiles' jeep broke down in Mexico.

BRAEDEN: Scott, we need to get there by night. It's too dangerous, otherwise. STILES: Go. SCOTT: Not without you! STILES: Dude, someone needs to find Derek. We'll figure something out. We always do. STILES: Just go.

What I want to say here is that Stiles won't give up on Derek nor the jeep and he risk it all for both, somehow he does while caring for Derek, pushing the others to go and find him before it's too late.

So, at the end, what I want to say is:

All these characters talked of Derek as someone worthy of trust, who know justice, love and sacrifice, someone not everyone understand but that those who does knows he's a good person despite everything that happened to him. Because think about it, after all this man went through, he was still kind and still cared for others - in his own way.

(and before someone might think 'you are saying so much about Stiles because you ship Sterek or anything similiar. Yes, I'm a sterek shipper, but right now I'm not asking you to see Sterek in this, I'm asking you to read this objectivly, cause I believe you don't have to ship Sterek to see how Stiles and Derek both cared for each other and how Stiles was probably the one who risked the most to protect/save Derek whenever it was needed and how Derek did the same)

This is my personal opinion (which doesn't directly attaches to Teen Wolf, but I think it fits and could be helpful).

Many people don't talk enough about the people they find... good.

When you see somehow doing the right thing, maybe help along and share how good it is to see somehow still being kind in a world that, if you look closely, it's very cruel for no reason.

Whe you think someone is a good person, please tell them. Please. they might think they aren't cause they made a mistake you aren't even aware of but maybe your little 'ehi, you're a good one' could bright their day and make them more confident and overall, you both would be better persons.

Please, be kind reasonless.

Tell that person you agree with them, tell them you like their dress or makeup, tell them you think their opinion is good and maybe even have a conversation about it, just strangers talking (but still, be careful).

We underestimate the power of words when it comes to love, kindness, respect... we think of 'powerful words' when we think something bad, that why sometimes we think 'that's such a bad thing to think/say'. But whenever it's something lovely or kind, that could bust up someone's day, confidence, self-respect and self-love, we stay quiet, we don't even think of saying it most of the time.

So, please, BE KIND REASONLESS AND REGARDLESS. BE KIND JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN.

What are your favorite teen wolf headcanons?

This was super difficult because I had to narrow it down, and I am sure I chose too many. Not all of these are happy and positive, but they're my favorite ones.

The story that Tyler Posey and Dylan O'Brian told about Stiles pissing on Scott's sandcastle is absolutely true, but what they didn't say is that Scott was absolutely delighted and asked Stiles to piss on any new sandcastle he built until Claudia and Melissa put a stop to it.

Scott and Melissa are 'practicing' Catholics, which translates to them going only on the big holidays due to things like endless shifts at the hospital. This continues even after the introduction of the supernatural.

Scott is a world-class social-media lurker. He follows all the social media of every pack member and person affiliated with the pack from Jackson to Cora to Ken to Theo to Nolan, but he almost never engages beyond leaving a like or a kudo or a thumbs up. This way he knows where everyone lives and what everyone is doing.

Stiles, on the other hand, not only follows everyone on social media, but he also constantly comments, harangues, teases, and recommends for every participant. This still included Lydia after they broke up. The only time he stops is when he's involved in a high-pressure case for the FBI, and it's a habit everyone else has recognized. This was how Derek and the rest knew Stiles was super busy during the movie.

While Scott dedicated time and effort to shutting down Tamora Monroe's crusade, the former resident of Beacon Hills who was the most effective at stopping her was Noshiko Yukimura, who was so offended by the manner of Satomi Ito's death that she made it a personal goal. Ken worried, of course, but he didn't protest as he noticed it distracted Noshiko from being melancholy about Kira.

Scott and Malia's break-up hurt both of them, but it wasn't due to misbehavior. Malia didn't want to pursue the hunters and didn't think Scott should make it his responsibility; Scott did feel it was his responsibility but wanted Malia to be free.

Adrian Harris survived Jennifer's sacrifice because he had inadvertently prepared for it. He had discovered the supernatural when Peter attacked him in Wolf's Bane (1x09), and he was the only sacrifice who had known and helped the Darach ahead of time. What Jennifer didn't know is that Adrian had purchased a mystical charm online that he had on him that day which actually worked!

Rafael McCall's infidelity only took the form of flirting; he is the type of man who believes that it doesn't count if he doesn't actually have sex with other people. It didn't even occur to him that he might get a reputation, and it might get back to his family.

Hayden Romero becomes a dental hygienist and a damn good one. Eventually, she gets a reputation for discretion among supernaturals.

Derek told Eli stories about him and Scott and Stiles when Eli was young, but he changed the names and exaggerated for effect.

This whole deadpool thing is a horrible nightmare. Everything about it makes me sick.

All of it.

The deaths of various supernatural creatures are cruel and disgusting. And being reminded of humankind's capability of evil everytime I scream makes me want to kill myself. My very nature is being assaulted constantly. Time after time leaving me more and more mentally exhausted. 

All of it pushes every limit I have. Pulls and coils my nerves and won't rest until I'm burned out from inside. 

At this point the only thing keeping me afloat is Stiles.

We've been best friends for what feels like forever now. We've seen our highs and lows. Throughout kindergarten and, school and now this. We lend each other shoulders to cry on on worse days. Lately even more so, we're nearly inseparable. 

Actually ever since Scott turned into a werewolf we've gotten closer. Maybe it's selfish of me to be happy it happened. Because then I didn't have to share Stiles with him; for this I accepted the price of being thrown into the supernatural. Though putting our lives in danger wasn't on my mind at the time. 

Now? I hesitate to delight in any of this. I wasn't ready nor prepared for being a banshee or my own potential death. 

At the moment Stiles and I are trying to figure out the last part of this hitlist. Well... Stiles is sitting at his desk trying out every name possible as the key. I, on the other hand, am writing down names of possible targets. 

At least I'm doing my best. It's not like I know every single person/creature/being there is to know. Which makes me wonder why I decided to do it. Maybe to try and help and not sit around doing nothing. It certainly keeps my mind and hands busy. Or maybe because my failure or success won't matter when Stiles finds the correct keyword.

When he finds, not if. I'm pretty sure there's not a lot Stiles can't do.

I look down at my notebook. I went ahead and copied the other two hitlists, names and money amounts. (To call those by "prizes" is revolting also it sounds close to "prices" which isn't any better. Even if it's exactly what it is. And Hey! Life is supposed to be priceless damn it!) I used red on names of those who we know are dead. 

I noted that on both lists there were twelve names. So the probability that the last one has twelve names too is pretty damn high. 

I write down five names: Malia, Liam, Myself, Satomi Ito and Meredith. 

Ugh. My head slams down on my notebook. 

"Stiiilessss...?" My whine of frustration only gets a hum in response.

"Did I ever tell you this is really really difficult and basically useless?" 

 "Eh..." he pauses, "I think thia might've been the 49th time, can you complain once more to round it up?" 

I lift my head to look at him with incredulity. "Seriously?" Stiles shrugs his shoulders but the stupid grin betrays him. I chuck my pen at him. "But I'm serious, what's the point? Wouldn't it be better to just warn everyone that not only are they hunted for sport but now you have a price on your head as well. Yayy..?" I dazzle my hands, "Way to spice things up, right?" I drop my hands and sit up, then with furrowed eyebrows continue, "And anyway, isn't everyone aware of it by now? So why are we trying to know the last piece of the deadpool?" I'm unable to stop a groan from escaping. This whole thing makes my head throb. 

Stiles being the little shit he is responds with, "Maybe I'm curious how much you're worth? Maybe I'd finally get rid of your stupid ass, bonus if it'd pay those Eichen House bills." 

I let out a gasp. Not having my pen anymore I throw my notebook at his head instead. "You're such an ass." But I feel a smile creeping up on my face anyway.

Suddenly I scream.

It could've been seconds but it felt like hours when I was standing there in the alley. Witnessing the horror of that girls death. She was attacked by a group of psychopathic jerks. Holding her down, shoving wolfsbane in her mouth and her wounds all the while delighting in her suffering. She's struggling to get free and soon I'm doing the same to try and help her. But the force is holding me still and I can't move, she's going to die. And I can't help her. Please God, she's dying, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I can't help you. 

Tears run down my cheeks, hopeless. I see the guy raise a gun. No no no. Please no. 

Heartbroken "NO!" tears out of my throat just as two successive gunshots ring out. 

My heart was already fast but now it's as if someone was squeezing it harder and harder to explode it, crush it just like hers. I pull my hair when I cover my ears, but the ringing won't stop. 

Make it stop. I can't focus. 

I can't breathe. Why can't I just breathe? 

My chest hurts. 

Was I the shot one? 

Am I dying? Is that what it feels like? 

I want to breathe. 

I don't like this. 

Stop

Stop it. 

—re okay... 

What? 

—re fine

I try to focus on the voice. 

Stiles. 

Stiles! 

"Breathe wi— me-"

Slowly I catch my breath, it's still hard, it catches in my throat. I grip tightly on fabric. Not letting go. No. But the same tightness is returned to me, around me. 

"God. Pain, so much-"

Stiles' voice clears and fully reaches my ears. 

"Sti—"

"Shh. Don't speak. Just focus on breathing."

I become aware Stiles' fingers are running through my hair while keeping my head pressed against his neck.

"I'm not going anywhere." 

I keep my eyes closed. 

"Keep breathing."

My heartbeat gets calmer. 

"We're safe." 

We're softly rocking. 

"Not going anywhere anytime soon."

When did we get to the floor? 

"That's it."

I loosen up my hand, finally able to breathe normally. 

"Are we back in the land of living now?"

I nod and agree softly. "Stiles?" he hums, "I hate it when it happens." my voice shaky and quiet. 

"Don't think about it. You'll waste all my effort calming you." 

I snort. I push myself away to press on my eyes. 

"I'm fine. Alive and hateful but it's fine." I mutter quietly then wipe my tears. My eyes land on his shirt, ruined with wrinkles and my snot and tears. "Sorry for the shirt."

Stiles moves his head to look into my eyes and takes hold of my hand. When he does, my breath catches in my throat. Compassion and concern bleeds through his whiskey eyes. I could drown myself in them and eternity wouldn't be enough to satisfy me. 

His voice is soft, "Don't worry about it okay? I have more in the closet." Pats my hand twice, perks up and then his expression shifted into lighthearted amusement. "Look at the bright side! It's not the first time my shirt get ruined. And! Not the worst thing that could've happened to it." 

Grin on his face widened with mischief, "Though I must admit I'd have preferred a different way of you getting my clothes dirty." He even suggestively fluttered his eyebrows!

I couldn't help but snort at his ridiculous face. 

If his goal was to cheer me up, he succeeded, I have a stupid smile on face. 

Now I feel lighter when I think about it. It's like a fog cleared from my mind that I didn't know was still there. If he noticed that then I'm so undeserving of him. 

Before I forget completely. I look around myself for my notebook. But I don't see it. Even if it didn't fall on the floor with me. 

"What is it?"

"My notebook? I swore it was here."

At that Stiles reaches behind himself, "It's exactly where you left it, thrown in my direction." then passes the notebook with the pen to me. 

"Right. Forgot about that. Sorry." I open it on the deadpool page. I press the pen on the paper. Then with my eyes closed and the werewolf in my mind I move my hand. When I open my eyes I'm greeted with a name. 

Kaitlyn Schaar

I put down my pen. A momentary feeling of loss fills my heart. Somewhere along I lost my smile because I'm frowning. "Well. At least now I have half of the names. Being a banshee would've been helpful if not for the fact that it'll be already too late."

"Oh my god." Stiles shifts abruptly. 

I look up at him. "What?"

Eyes wide with astonishment, disbelief and delight. Suddenly he kisses my lips. It might've been brief but it was enough that if I weren't already on the floor I'd fall. I'm looking at him in shock. "You're a genius. How did we not-" Stiles stands up and rushes to the laptop.

"Stiles?" my voice comes out weirdly high-pitched, "How did I help?" 

Stiles looks my way. "You're a banshee. Just like Lydia and Meredith." Noticing my blank stare he elaborates. "Okay we know one thing. Both keys - Allison and Adrien, they're names of the dead. Right?"

"Obviously...?" I say not following. "We'd tried or rather you, all the dead ones we know of. None worked."

"I noticed. But, bear with me, banshees predict death, so what if the third key is someone who isn't dead, but will be?"

I sure hope not. Born werewolves are a must have in my opinion. It's all about the experience. Though our ones are overly secretive and unwilling to share their knowledge. Assholes.

"And hey! You're worth sixteen milion! Only behind Lydia by four."

I blow a raspberry his way. I find myself automaticly teasing him. "No killing me. Not when you finally expressed the profound love you feel for me."

"What?" Stiles whips his head so fast I'm surprised it didn't snap his neck.

"That kiss spoke volumes. Don't tell me you forgot already?" I exaggerate my pout, "Just now you were so elated with my genius you kissed me." I see his eyes widen so slightly, face redden an enticing shade.

I was fully prepared for him to laugh it off. Excuse it for something he did in heat of the moment, not holding any more value or meaning than a reflex or impulse. We often make jokes like that. About being in love or in a relationship and we're not above being suggestive. Our friends always complained about us. 'Stop flirting', 'confess already', 'did you kiss yet', 'get a room', 'leave if you can't stop being annoying', 'it stinks of sexual tension, please do us a favor and fuck it off'.

We're best friends. That's all.

And we needed them to back off. So we decided to play it off as jokes.

I know Stiles doesn't feel the same. Since the beginning he was infatuated with Lydia, and now that she finally notices him, talks with him? I don't see him leaning away from her affection, especially since she's free for the taking.

Stiles' voice rips me from my thoughts.

"Right. Sorry, excitment got the better of me. I'll just send the photo of the list to everyone then I'll go ahead and show my profound devotion to you."

Then he's immediately on his phone camera and taking said photo so he doesn't notice how my own face blushes.

But just as quickly Stiles' eyes are back on me. This time with intensity I wasn't expecting but find absolutely breathtaking. There's a spark of determination and burning love that for a second takes my breath away. I never thought it'd be directed at me.

It doesn't help calm my heart. I'm lost in his eyes so I didn't notice how close he's gotten. He rubs my cheek and kisses me. My eyes close automatically but I'm pretty sure I see fireworks exploding.

Our lips are only pressing. It's not light nor hard pressure, it simply is. Then softly, slowly he starts to move his lips and I respond in kind. My lips hesitant since I don't know what I'm doing but somehow I can feel his certainty and love.

Soon we're pulling apart, but still leaning on each other. Our heavy breaths are the only noise filling the room. At this point his hand is the only thing grounding me to reality.

"Wow."

"Yeah."

...

"We're definitely doing this again."

We both burst out laughing.

A/N: Sorry for the long wait. I get a feeling like I got sidetracked there...I hope you liked it. Ending might've been rushed, I didn't know how to leave it. And it seems that I'm unfit to write anything if this took me nearly a year even.

I finally got motivated to write again, but I was informed being systematic is more important than motivation. While willing to agree I don't think I'm capable of that. Especially with final exams looming over me. If anything I shouldknow my comfort zone too, right?

There was a boy sitting on the bleachers.

To be honest, Derek wouldn’t have given him the time of day normally, but there were a few things that struck him as odd. Firstly, there was still a good thirty minutes before school let out. Secondly, the boy was silently staring out towards the preserve with a pensive expression. Thirdly, he had no scent, and his heartbeat was non-existent.

Okay, maybe he should have led with that, but the point was, there was a boy sitting on the bleachers, and Derek seemed to be the only one who could see him.

The Hale family

In the show there's almost nothing regarding the Hale family, but from the little they said in it and from some headcanons I have in mind, I think they were a very powerful and respected family.

Talia Hale

Talia was and still remains a very respected and powerful Evolved Alpha in the Teen Wolf Universe not simply because she was evolved, but she was also a significant figure in the werewolf society (pass me the term if you'd be so kind). In fact many went to her for guidance and many Alphas did the same too, like Deucalion.

She had a close bond with Deaton, who promised her he would take her of her children if anything happened which he says to Derek when he asks Deaton why he's helping them.

Not only she was a pillar among werewolves but for Beacon Hills' Community too, in fact the Hale family helped building the communty back and making sure it would be somehow a quiet and calm place.

Peter Hale

Talia's brother who survived the fire, he's surely a character with a lot of personality, searching for power left and right he ends up having to deal with family ties he isn't even so fond of, but somehow tries to be a father to Malia (whom he had with Corinne, a werecoyote).

Peter went to get revenge for his family and killed Kate (who will come back as a werejaguar) and is very much driven by a strong desire of power. Somehow he also decides to stick to Derek's side for a while despite they don't seem in the best of terms most of the time.

Cora and Laura Hale

Derek's sisters and Talia's daughters, Laura died because of Peter and Cora stayed by Derek's side for quite some time, during with he saved her life.

Derek and Eli Hale

Derek is one of the few who remained the longer (we won't be counting the movie, thank you) and is a significant member of the family, becoming almost like Talia: an evolved (true) alpha and a important help for the community (such as being the sheriff's cunsoltant for some supernatural cases).

Which is also said by Satomi. (despite the fact she sayd this before Derek turn into a tue alpha in the film, but maybe she saw something in him that made Satomi thinks he could become a good alpha too)

Sorry I just noticed how much you remind me of Talia

And his son, Eli, which is seen only in the movie and nobody knows who's his mother.

Yet the Hale family surely had to be well known even before Talia despite nothing is said about the time before her. Maybe they were the 'guardians' of Beacon Hills, and I base this upon something Talia said.

We're predators, but we don't have to be killers.

Which could mean that despite their nature they don't have to hunt people and predators are naturally driven to protect the ecosystem that 'feeds them', which means they care about Beacon Hills because maybe it was their safe harbor and their home, despite they living in the forest and protected it from the outside.

Maybe even after Talia died and the fire occured, their family remained well known all around, earning them a quite famous status around town. Maybe also due to their 'rivality' with the Argents and how persistent they both were.

In the end, their family deserve more time and details since they have the potential to be a very intriguing storyline on their own.
