An Investment for Once and for All on Leather Jackets
Let winter be a style season and spring its descendent. Make a change in regular attire with the most unrivaled dressing statement while warding off the harsh winter coldness. Men’s and women’s leather jackets are easy luxury adornments that make a difficult winter easy.  Though they might seem to appear a thin shield for being a weather protector, yet, real leather always does the work of cushioning one by maintaining a higher insulation index.
When it comes to purchasing leather jackets, leather’s authenticity pulls out from achieving the gain due to its immense pricing tag. On the other hand, faux leather, a lookalike of the category reflecting a similar appearance, having structured fitting, casting smooth and polished texture, etc., snap up the deal since it is tagged with a lesser price. Its value is something diminished to almost half the price of premium leather. Nonetheless, it is worth mentioning that, besides better pricing, investing in synthetic leather leaves certain chronic consequences surrounding the wearer’s health and investment.
As such, a recommendation for real leather jackets always counsels buyers even if it is a matter of heavy investment. And so, one should rather put some money onto premium leather and stay assured of its one-time asset badge. Below are a few illustrations describing the perks of making a strong investment in men’s and womens jackets or also cited as leather jackets.
Lambskin leather is available in various grades with full-grain and semi-grain being the most esteemed of all. They pinnacle the durability index with the rating being appreciably high. However, full-grained lamb leather is way tougher and accounts for enduring outerwear. Lifespan ranges from a few years to generations. Leather is resilient to wear and tear unless jeopardized by critical exposure. With minimal yet easy upkeep, one can enjoy its everlasting companion on every frigid winter. Being durable also means furnishing leather coats a gateway for resale when it is no longer a requisite. Since its flourishing appeal remains good as new, it can be set up for auction. On contrary to this, inferior faux leather, on completion of a finite period starts to wither and shows unsightly cracks and peeling of synthetics.
In context to functionality, the effectiveness of real leather is notable. It copes well single-handedly or makes a quality integration when paired up with any underlying warm layer. Most leather jackets are tailored with an internal satin lining. Superior satin esteems its silky smoothness and renders luxury. Irrespective of quilted or uniform design, Satin always leaves a posh impression. Additionally, it also aids in warmth preservation and insulation maintenance. However, customizing leather coats with animal fur significantly adds to the opulence. In case of extreme chilly weather, dense natural fox fur or voluminous raccoon fur majorly contributes to the heat trap. Hence, collars and hoods of jackets and long coats are detailed with fur trim to keep the most sensitive body part cold-resistant.  Sometimes, even the pocket border and the internal are layered with fur trim for promoting snugness.
Rest, leather from tanned raw hides of lambskin is a natural resource and so is degradable. Most eco-friendly outerwear causes no distress to human skin or discomfort by any other means. Thus, women’s and mens leather fur coats are a wise winter choice.
Often, leather, during the tanning process is treated waterproof and so the conditioned piece upholds its charming appeal even on being wet. Hence, there arises no cause for worry in the context of exposed leather outerwear to rain. So, leather jackets are waterproof and keep the wearer warm and safe.
In regards to fashion statements, the widely recognized variances of designs such as leather parkas, trench coats, leather vests, and crop jackets, all earn enticing grandeur. Wearing a trendy leather jacket is considered to give off the posh, iconic style right away. In many ways, they also represent masculinity. While leather is itself strong and long-lasting, the wearer embodies these attributes. Partial or full aniline finishing accounts for a regal touch to the outerwear.  Lustrous sheen is guaranteed timeless attributable to the supreme quality finish.
Aside from the benefits already mentioned, the most pleasing aspect of leather jackets is that they go with virtually any type of clothes proving their versatility. The jacket can be used to layer different ensembles in any season because it isn't limited to a few basic items. Stormy summers can be well accompanied by vests or moto jackets. For regions with a mild summer temperature, a thin leather bomber jacket will be suitable for layering regular t-shirts and jeans. Otherwise, the spring, fall, and winter seasons are when most people wear biker or fur-lined jackets or even double breast long coats. Parkas, however, is a staple for freezing weather.
Putting it all up, women’s and mens fur leather coats form a standardized attire for casual settings, semi-formal occasions, and official convocations owing to their decent designing aspect. Furthermore, the wearer can benefit from the ultra glamour and splendor of the long coats and leather trenches worn at royal parties. Their practical effectiveness is highlighted by biker jackets and pilot bombers. The leather product line becomes a worthwhile investment as the utilization per outfit increases.

Alright here’s the Diarmuid Merc Uniform notes fuck it. I apologize for the lack of ref photos I couldn’t find all the ones I wanted :’) Such is life I guess
First Layer: cropped/vest binder (clasps, not buttons) and tight fitted shorts (boxer briefs? boxer shorts?) both black. Binder is technically optional if you don’t HC him as trans like I do or if you prefer he has no titty but I like boobs so. There ya go
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also an iron naval piercing with a dangling crescent moon (shown before but here it is again)
Tumblr media
Second Layer: thigh high boots with block heel (further up the thigh than the pic ref, can be any material but I go with leather) and leather chest piece. Black and dark green respectively
Tumblr media
Third Layer: crop blouse/shirt (optional), sleeves cinched at lower forearm and wrist. bell bottom trousers buttoned up the sides. Both dark green, shirt is either satin or silk
Tumblr media
Fourth Layer: velvet gloves, leather vambraces
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Multiple belts at waist (has a leather pouch hanging from them and various other trinkets), sword always sheathed at left hip. Gloves are black but everything else is brown, tan and orange. Belts are of various materials; some plain leather, some woven and others hanging chains
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fifth Layer: blue linen sash weaved through the belts, usually around the right hip. Has the Fianna crest (the one on Fionn’s cape) sewn in white and gold thread. Sash can also be satin but linen is preferred, they’re most famous for being The Pirate Sash
Sixth Layer: various kinds of coats and jackets across the seasons but typically wears long coats either buttoned from waist to collar (like his third Lancer art) or with folded lapels. Velvet, fur and/or wool are preferred. Tend to be dark greens or blues. Chains hanging from hips and shoulders, always has pockets. His chains are quite thick and heavy because kids like to play with them
Seventh Layer: in winter will always be seen in a wolf fur cloak/mantle with metal soles and toe caps on his boots. Unclear if metal is attached or removable. Metal is silver, cloak/mantle is black. Inspired more by Trevor Belmont’s cloak in Castlevania but I liked this photo
Tumblr media
All his clothes have fine gold or blue detailing bc Draíochta (magic) has been infused/sewn into them, giving a nice shimmer effect in certain lighting. Everyone within the Fianna wore vambraces, thigh boots, belts and cloaks. There were varying levels of leather armours but higher ranking officers (like Diarmuid) have the fanciest looking uniforms to discern their rank more easily
I wanted to give a nice blend of all the Dia designs: Lancer’s greens and browns, Sabers armours and stomach exposure, Avenger’s air of nobility/importance and accessories and finally Assassin’s cloak. I probably didn’t need to include the undergarments but I have so it’s there now, hopefully I succeeded in what I wanted to do 😅

Designer Todd Oldham & Fashion Nirvana
Blog entry by Julia Garrett, Texas Fashion Collection Intern
Stone-faced supermodels typically anchor proper runway shows. But for designer Todd Oldham (born 1961), things were just a little different. With the models beaming and twirling down the runway and the digital prints and crochet textiles they wore so well, Oldham’s kitsch-embracing styles sent hearts swooning from Los Angeles to New York City during his fashion house’s heyday. Todd Oldham Studios produced colorful, vibrant, innovative collections from 1989 to 1998.
Tumblr media
Spring 1991
Before this, Oldham started his career a little closer to home, here in Texas. Setting out on his own after high school, Oldham moved from Corpus Christi to Dallas with a borrowed $50-worth of white cotton, which he dyed and sewed into a small line that he sold to Neiman Marcus. Then moving to fashion capital New York City, Oldham gained national recognition, winning the Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent from the Council of Fashion Designers in 1991. The Spring collection that earned him this award was full of bejeweled mosaics on itty-bitty mini dresses and glistening bralettes. His fashion statements fused a love of craft and the vernacular of the everyday with a tradition of bold, avant-garde, luxury design.
Tumblr media
Fall 1992 | Fall 1991
Speaking of statement pieces...
Speaking of statement pieces, one of the Oldham brand’s signatures was the use of digitally-printed fabrics. Even in his early career, the designer pioneered this method that came to be increasingly popular in the 90s. Oldham often showcased his digital prints alongside textures with very different visual effects in a single design—like the pearlescent, metal-linked vests over crepe-de-chine slips or gradient velvets found in his Fall 1991 collection.
Tumblr media
Spring 1993 | Fall 1993
Knit crochets and polyesters made from digitally-printed polaroid shots were keynotes of his covetable eye for design. By 1992, some of the most desired supermodels of the decade graced Todd Oldham runways, from a fresh-faced 18-year-old Tyra Banks, to others including Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Christy Turlington.
Tumblr media
Spring 1994
Todd Oldham’s Spring 1994 collection bounces between print-clad signatures and more thoughtful, sleek pieces that focused on flattering the human figure. Showing this attention to detailed tailoring, whether it was darted side slits for a vest or the fit of a stringy LBD (“little black dress”), Oldham committed to growth and innovation in his designs over time. This collection’s garments showed a new, concurrent interest in minimalism and nodded to 90s trends found in other designers. For example, Oldham created a body-conscious twist on Calvin Klein’s classic slip dress, as well as baby-doll dresses featuring halter necks and stringy, form-revealing silhouettes.

.
Oldham’s career in fashion from then on featured bright, colorful, “more-is-more” designs alternating with minimalist, body-conscious touches. From barely-there two-piece sets to straw mini skirts and cape combos, Oldham’s style matured throughout the decade. The designer became a master of tasteful maximalism in his pairings of full-body prints with black, satin, cropped blazers and embroidered straps on slip dresses. Evidence of Oldham’s colorful, eclectic design aesthetic and use of digitally-printed textiles can be seen in the McNay’s Fashion Nirvana: Runway to Everyday exhibition. All loaned from the Texas Fashion Collection (TFC), a coat printed with a picture of paper shreds joins the “Less Is More & More Is More” section, while a colorful shirtwaist dress and landscape-photography-clad t-shirt dress can be found in the “Culture & Subculture” section.

After Oldham closed his fashion house in 1999, he went on to work in interior design, author several books, and other creative ventures. Oldham has a history of showcasing his multidisciplinary artistic talents. Many may remember Oldham’s “Todd Time” segments on MTV’s House of Style program, in which the designer shared DIY projects, helpful life hacks, and creative yet affordable fashion advice. Although Todd Oldham has moved on to other horizons, there are plenty of opportunities to dream about what could’ve joined your vintage closet on view at the McNay Art Museum.

Spring 1996 |  Spring 1994
Upon closing his fashion business in 1999, Oldham donated 118 garments from his archive to the Texas Fashion Collection, also known as the TFC, at the University of North Texas (Denton, TX). Thanks to a partnership with the TFC, numerous signature examples of what made Oldham so distinctly successful will be on view at the McNay for the coming months. A silk ribbon gown, a satin coat, a pinstripe dress, and more grace this exhibition’s slice of fashion history from the 1990s, calling to the minimal-maximalist in all of us.
____________
WRITTEN BY JULIA GARRETT, Texas Fashion Collection Intern in her freshman year at the University of North Texas studying art history.
The TFC, located in Denton, TX, houses over 20,000 historic and designer garments and accessories and is directed by Annette Becker. Fashion Nirvana: Runway to Everyday is an exhibition organized by the McNay Art Museum in partnership with the TFC. Fashion Nirvana is the first fashion and video art exhibition in the Museum’s history, and focuses on the style and culture of the 1990s. Marion McNay Koogler founded the McNay Art Museum as the first modern art museum in Texas in 1954, and the public collection now holds over 22,000 objects.

6 Shacket Outfit Ideas to Try This Spring
Tumblr media
Hands up if you bought into the shacket trend last year. (That'll be all of you, then.) You could definitely argue that the humble shacket was 2019's ultimate hero buy—one which even we didn't see coming. Now though, we can't even bear to think about getting dressed without it. This is why we're so pleased, even though we find ourselves on the cusp of a new season, that the shacket is still very much part of 2020's style agenda. Both high-street and designer brands have pledged their allegiance to the shacket, with more styles cropping up in this week's new-in sections than any other garment. From Topshop's cream offering to Vince's buttery-soft leather take, the shacket looks set to continue dominating our wardrobes right through till spring. Thrown on with your favourite jeans and boots or styled with miniskirts and heels, the shacket will elevate all of your looks to cool new heights in a flash. But don't take our word for it. Here are six fresh shacket outfit ideas to try over the coming weeks. PICK A PASTEL HUE Photo: @styleidealist Style Notes: Nothing says spring quite like a pastel hue, which is handy seeing as the latest shacket edit seems to be predominantly candy colours. Karina expertly stops her ensemble from becoming too twee by adding a strong burgundy bag into the equation. p Pale Pink Shacket (£59) p Cropped Jeans (£25) p Hortensia Medium Leather Shoulder Bag (£650) p Spirit Boot (£540) WEAR WITH LEATHER Photo: @monikh Style Notes: While it's a no-brainer to wear your shacket with trusty denim, the more you wear it, the more the novelty will wear off. Ensure you keep the spark alive by switching out your jeans in favour of a pair of leather trews (be they vegan or leather) from time to time. p Padded Overshirt (£60) p The Sling Leather Bag (£2475) p Cuffed Leather Trousers (£295) p Vegan Black Chunky Lace Up Boots (£42) THINK BEYOND WOOL TEXTURES Photo: @ada_oguntodu Style Notes: Not all shackets are made equal—nor are they all woollen, either. Make like Ada and hunt down leather iterations of the shacket for a glossy take on the relaxed trend. Then, for maximum retro appeal, pair with wide-leg jeans. p Leather Shirt (£660) p Tall White Premium Racer Vest (£9) p Kicker High Rise Jeans (£240) p Sophia Boots ( £190) £110 CHECK IT OUT Photo: @wethepeoplestyle Style Notes: Typically, shackets were checked. It's only now that they come in solid block colours. We love how Jessie has honed the classic look of the checked shacket but given it a very modern overhaul with an animal-print miniskirt, thick-sole boots, and an elegant top-handle bag. p Check Overshirt (£50) p Snake-Effect Leather Mini Skirt ( £1240) £372 p Loaf Leather Tote (£490) p Leon Chelsea Boots (£700) TAKE THE TONAL APPROACH Photo: @alexisforeman Style Notes: We've said it before, and we'll say it again: The easiest way to look effortlessly chic is to wear one colour top to toe. Alexis applies this logic to her cream shacket, which she's paired with matching ecru jeans. p Cream Button Shacket (£79) p Straight Jeans (£265) p Burwood Leather Brogues (£490) LAYER OVER SHORT HEMLINES Photo: @pernilleteisbaek Style Notes: Striking the perfect high-low outfit balance is an art form—one that Pernille has mastered. Her oversize shacket offsets her short hemline, while her glitzy shoes are neutralised with the addition of woollen socks. p Oversized Wool Blend Workwear Shirt (£120) p Cashmere Jumper (£80) p Wool Shorts (£685) p Speckled Socks (£10) p Satin Shoes (£925) This post was originally published at an earlier time and has since been updated. PEB Clothing Spring/Summer 2016 MFW
Massimiliano Poggiolini, Tago da Cruz and Vincenzo Buzzese are the designers behind PEB Clothing, an Italian contemporary menswear label that aims to defy trends with high quality avant-garde street wear. Their SS16 collection, “Concrete Jungle,” is practical and functional, but it carries rebellious subtleties that transform staple pieces, like the all-classic white tee, into original works of art. The small hint of details that are added in this collection, such as the angular cuts, bold architectural shapes and the refined layering of fabrics, is an example of how PEB Clothing manages to transcend today’s top trends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Poggiolini, da Cruz and Buzzese’s collection evokes a great deal of curiosity and fascination because of their eye-catching minimalist designs, which is what they've been known for since they stepped onto the fashion scene in 2012. Drawing inspiration from the atmosphere that the city evokes and that of wildlife, the designers used a neutral and earth-toned color scheme, which emphasizes the vibrancy and understated qualities that exists within the cityscape. As the designers stated, “the city is not only a concrete jungle but also a human zoo,” and the intricate designs, shapes and transformative elements that are seen in this collection reflect that. From their camouflage prints to the bold zipper appliques, PEB Clothing has evolved season after season, turning high-performance fabrics, cool wool and premium cotton into pieces that are creative, innovative, fresh and enthralling enough to stand out on its own. No wonder PEB Clothing remains as the fil rouge of sportswear. (PEB SS16 Milan Fashion Week Review)
Pamplemousse Resort 2016 Collection
In New York City, where everyone is bustling to get from one place to another, it isn’t uncommon for people to overlook the simple elements that exist there. But, Danica Zheng proved that it’s possible to find beauty and inspiration “from unexpected places.” After spending two years as a design and public relations intern, the Parsons graduate launched her own fashion label, Pamplemousse, this past May 2015. Since she was 12-years-old, Zheng has been interested in art and art history, which “served as an important influence” in her work as a fashion designer.
Zheng’s background in both art as well as architecture might explain why her Resort 2016 collection is all about detailing. From the geometric shapes, cut outs and bold asymmetrical designs to the pastel colored embroideries, daring slits and cross-stitches, each garment in this assemblage evokes a strong sense of sex appeal, sophistication and edginess, which helps balance out the whimsical touches that are incorporated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although she’s a newcomer in this industry, Zheng proved that she isn’t afraid to combine “her own vision when designing.” Who else would design a sleeveless crop top with long sleeves tied at the back of it? Or the off-the-shoulder dress accented with layers of ruffles? These instances may tickle your inquisition, but one must admit that Zheng’s level of creativity is off the charts.
In fact, through her engineering of certain fabrics, she translates the beauty of architecture starting with how she mixes hard knits and soft satins into her collection of aqua blues, blush tones and stark whites, as seen in the light teal pants with white, gauze-esque pockets. The triangular folds in the front mimic a façade of a building and the pleats of the white, V-back dress evoke the same imagery, too, which leaves us wondering what else she’ll come up with next.(Pamplemousse Resort 2016 Collection)
Cadet SS16 New York Men's Day
Designers Raul Arevalo and Brad Schmidt of menswear label Cadet continue to modernize their post-war militaristic aesthetic in their Spring/Summer 2016 collection, “The Filthy 13,” drawing on classic American regiment uniforms outfitted for their model brigade.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Focused on integrating strong separates, Arevalo and Schmidt deeply explored outerwear, creating silk-cotton blend fitted blazers, waist-length drawstring vests and striped trench coats, all accented with a variety of leather-perforated and backpack-inspired strap belts, fanny packs and horn shaped necklaces. A stippling effect of white, soft greys and white were used to design the slim ankle length trousers, fitted shorts and Top Gun-esque jumpsuits, which added a playful element to the camo-strict ensemble. Chapter SS16 New York Men’s Day
The prelude of Chapter’s story provides an in-depth account of how it evolved as a brand, which was explored in their Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Consisting of blurred geometrical shapes, three-dimensional patterns and boxy silhouettes, this visual presentation entitled, DISPLACEMENT, used mirror dividers to represent their past design aesthetic and that of their unforeseen future.Their assemblage was a fusion of linen, rayon, cotton and synthetic blended knits, which were used in creating its inverted, well-tailored bottoms in a variety of rich plums, lavender, navy and olive-dyed hues, giving each garment a touch of opulence. Carlos Campos SS16 New York Mens Day
Growing up in Honduras, menswear designer Carlos Campos was captivated by the forastero, a stranger in a foreign land, due to their uniformity in dress and unexuberant, unnoticeable nature. For his Spring/Summer 2016 collection, Campos “emulated the solitary romanticism of the traveler” by translating their aesthetic into an array of colored belted suits and sleeveless tuxedos, playing with cotton-wool blends, jacquard and bold prints. From the graphic t-shirts to the soft-tailored lounge shorts, Campos’ collection is the epitome of the “classic American style…with a Latin twist”—an aesthetic that remains true to his label.         The International Woolmark Prize is a prestigious award that’s given to emerging fashion labels that not only show tremendous promise, but also create an innovative look using solely Australian Merino wool. The regional competitions are held all around the world with designers from Asia, Australia, British Isles, Europe, Dubai and USA competing, and include a judges’ panel of high profile industry fashion leaders. Im and Taylor will compete alongside twelve designers for the grand prize of $80,632, which will go toward fabric sourcing and the marketing of their collections. The winner of the menswear division will be announced in Florence, Italy, in January coinciding with Pitti Uomo, and the womenswear division will be announced in New York City in February during NYFW.
Im is a German-born designer that aims to reinvent traditional menswear tailoring. The Oxford University graduate fuses his study of architecture with his background in modern tailoring, often playing with volume, structure, tailoring and symmetry in his collections. When Im moved to New York City in 2001, he worked as the Senior Designer for Helmut Lang and Karl Lagerfeld, who won the International Woolmark Prize in 1954.
After graduating with a degree in finance at McGill University, Taylor decided to attend a summer fashion course at Central Saint Martins, which continued into the AAS Fashion Studies program at The Parsons New School of Design. The Canadian-born womenswear designer who launched her first collection in 2012, integrates youthfulness, color and prints into simple feminine designs, all of which exhibits a great appreciation for the female form.

We are pretty much half way through the year, and so many trends have been and gone in such a short time, but if one in particular is going to stand its ground and make it through the rest of the year, it’s the maxi skirt. When you think about it, it’s a keeper – it can take you from those hot summer days, in the city streets or on vacay, or it can keep you snug in winter, when you still want to keep warm yet remain feminine.
Maxi skirts have blown up in the last few years, and now there are so many types of them – high waist, low waist – and even many styles to represent your mood. If you want to feel like a Bohemian queen, or if you want to feel like a glamorous vixen, there’s one for everyone.
Here are just a few of our favorite looks with the piece of the YEAR – the maxi skirt! Watch and learn, ladies!
The Slip Skirt
If you’re looking for a skirt that adds a glamorous vibe to your outfit, but can still be thrown into an edgy combo with your favorite sweater, then the slip skirt is the one. They are often in a satin-like fabric, giving not only vibrancy but shine to your look. The advantage of the slip skirt is its versatility, come rain or shine, you’ll be wearing it all year long! This season, we love more natural tones like beige, camel and tan to show off your glow and go for a subtle effect, although with the satin fabric, they still appear rich and intense. If you can’t get your hands on a slip skirt, then throw your knitwear over a strappy cami slip dress in a similar fabric – it will mesmerize everyone!
The Pleated Skirt
The pleated skirt is ultra-flattering as the origami-style pleats have a graceful movement and give you a certain je ne sais quoi. Usually in a high waist style, they will show off your figure before billowing into a girly maxi skirt. My favorite way of wearing this style of skirt is by roughening it up with a biker or denim jacket, the whole look is just so sassy, fierce and sexy. Another way you can play with the pleated skirt is by wearing it for a occasion, be it a wedding or a party, with a silky camisole or a lace crop top. The crop top will cut off at the right point for you to let your skirt do all the talking.
The High Split Maxi Skirt
If you feel somewhat restricted by the maxi skirt, and just want to flash that extra bit of flesh, you will love a maxi with a thigh-high split. It shows the most flattering part of the leg, and takes inches off you. It’s sexy without being too revealing, so it’s perfect for family occasions, yet you still feel you! Just look at how our fashion faves, Margot Robbie and Miranda Kerr, have worn theirs – a simple vest top does just the trick, but if you want to wrap up warm yet have an on-trend outfit, a slogan sweater will save the day.
The Jersey Maxi Skirt
The jersey maxi skirt adds a more sports-luxe feel to your outfit, yet is a more feminine alternative to joggers or cigarette pants. This style is perfect for wearing in the most casual way, with your trusty sneakers and a slogan tee. It’s a staple – you’ll always find a time and a place for it, and you’ll never grow bored of it.
The Ruffled Maxi Skirt
Life is a catwalk, so you gotta own it! If you really want to dip your toe into the maxi skirt pool, then going full-on with a ruffled maxi skirt is the way to do it. Yes, it stands out, but trust me – it will still go with everything. Be inspired by the catwalk and wear one with a hoodie, or just with a band tee. What I personally love about this style of skirt is that it’s ultra-dramatic and makes an impact as soon as you walk through the door – it’s a conversation piece, and it still makes you look and feel gorgeous.
Now you have seen our top 5 favorite types of maxi skirts, it’s your turn – we dare you to try all five styles and get back to us with your favorite. Be sure to tag us on social media so we can see all your looks!

Top Fashion Trends To Complete Your Look
Gone are the times when only the celebrities and models were smitten by the changing fashio n trends. Digital media has made our world even smaller and the confident women of today desire to emulate the designs by the famous designers. So before you step out for a dinner date or a beautiful summery afternoon, don’t forget to check the top fashion trends.
Pink dominated the spring fashion and continued to be the designer’s favourite. The bubblegum shade is all set to rule the year as well and did a great job by making its presence known in both the sweet or saturated and bold outfits. A number of brands have punctuated the alleys with rose-hued ensembles.
Latest Trends Ruling the Alleys and Runways
Stripes:  These are pretty much in these days and have become a staple. In the past, stripes were associated with formal wear however today stripe dresses, bottom-wear have become quite popular and will continue in the future. Contemporary updates can be seen in knits, sheer fabrics and asymmetrical cuts.
Sneakers:  Those funky, tiny, chunky or flat sneakers with glitter or satin patterns are a must-have for your wardrobe. You can team them up effortlessly with a dress or jeans. The wide variety gives you enough reasons to grab multiple pairs to add to your collection.
Long vests:  Almost everyone seems to be bitten by the long vests bug and their beauty lies in the fact that they can be worn during anytime of the year; at least as long as they continue to be in trend. They render a slimming effect on the body so this is a shout-out to all the conscious ladies worried about the extra layer of fat. It’s time to ditch your old jackets and blazers and welcome long vests.
Statement earrings:  The obsession for earrings continues this year and mismatched earrings are what we are rooting for. These beautiful and craftily mismatched pieces are certainly there to catch a lot of attention and awe from the people. Most of these bold baubles even extend well past the shoulders thus making you stand out.
Tee shirts with messages:  Let your tee shirts reflect your personality and do all the taking with the amazing messages they showcase. Graphic tees dominated the runways this season and the designers focused on empowering messages to represent the confident young women. So keep calm and let your graphic tee speak for you.
Comeback of the 80s:  Metallics and one-shoulder dresses made an amazing comeback on the runways. So it is time to get bolder and trade your night-attire for something sexier. So don’t shy away from full sleeves, high shine and body conscious fits. Brands such as Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Kenzo were quick to adapt to the 80s party style attire on the runways.
Shirt dresses:  Long shirts became a rage when they hit the stands sometime back but this season takes these classic shirts a notch higher with shirt-dress. Drop waists and other types of waistlines, double high slits and interesting hemlines have added to the oomph factor. There is pretty much in store to experiment with depending on the style you pick up.
Trench coats: This season offers you something absolutely different from the run off the mill trench coats. You have slouchy fabrics, broad belts and kimono-style coats to choose from and investing in this makeover of trench coats is certainly worth it.
Volume and more volume:  Ruffles and sleeves with more volume add more drama to your ordinary every day dresses. Asymmetrical dresses or voluminous skirts have garnered a lot of popularity and give you a hint of the Victorian era.
Bra tops: Still banking on the crop top trend? It’s time to flaunt and show your confidence by skipping the top all together. Overexposure is the new norm this spring with bra tops and bandeaus paired with evening skirts, cropped jeans and others that put your midriffs on full display. You can cover up slightly if you wish to opt for modesty by sporting sheer tops over the normal tops or completing the look with a jacket. So buckle up, hit the gym and start with your abs routine.
So now it’s time to embrace the new fashion trends and revamp your closet. These catwalk trends will certainly influence your wardrobe with a minimal influence on your bank balance if you decide to shop smartly.
