“James!” Sirius crowed as he walked into their flat. He heard a loud bang and James came hurrying out of his bedroom, slamming the door behind him. His hair was an absolute mess, and he was hurriedly yanking a t-shirt over his head. “You’re not just getting out of bed are you?” Sirius asked, his brow furrowed. James was usually up with the sun and it was nearing midday. 

“What? Erm, no. Just dropped something down the side of my bed and had to crawl underneath,” James laughed nervously, trying in vain to flatten his hair. James’s eyes flicked to a spot beside the door and Sirius turned to see what he was looking at. 

Beside the door sat a very familiar pair of perfectly polished boots. Sirius looked from the boots and back to James a few times before he put two and two together. 

“Shit, Regulus, run, he figured it out!” James yelled before he took off around the sofa, out of Sirius’s reach. Regulus opened the bedroom door and took one look at James darting about the place and Sirius’s reddening face as he held up a boot and threw it at James. 

“Nope,” He said, before disappearing back into the bedroom, leaving James to tell Sirius what the hell was going on.
