Sardar reached out to carefully stroke his son’s downy head. “He looks just like you.”

The corners of her mouth quirked into a small, wry grin as she watched her husband’s blatant adoration of their newborn child. “Of course he does, he is my son after all.” Pausing, she tilted her head around to face Sardar. “But I will concede that he has your nose and ears.”

A chuckle escaped him and he kissed her brow. “And my wit and love for humor, no doubt.” 

Morrigan snorted, returning her gaze back to her slumbering son. She wouldn’t be at all shocked that years from now, Kieran would suddenly be well versed in puns and awful japes, influenced by Sardar’s aggravating but rather impressive witticism. Not that she’ll admit that to her husband and watch him gloat. He’d just tease her with even more jests.

“Do you want to hold him?” she suddenly asked, her arms shifting a little from Kieran’s weight. He nodded wordlessly, unable to tear his eyes off of her and their son while she re-positioned her hands to allow Sardar to take and cradle Kieran in his waiting arms. After so much waiting and time apart, her son could finally be held by his own father. That sight alone warmed Morrigan’s heart. Their family was whole once more.

Would you tell us 10 facts about Sardar Mahariel, please? :)

Oh but of course! :D

1. He relishes in telling puns, both good and bad. His prime joy is the look of disgust and pained groans he receives whenever he tells them.

2. Branching on from the fact above, Sardar can be quite a smartass.

3. He’s more of a warrior who fights with a two handed sword or a sword and shield. He doesn’t care much for bows.

4. He has a scar on his thigh from a wild board attack and another on his left shoulder from an old fight.

5. Sardar doesn’t need much sleep, he can function surprisingly well with little to no sleep. His normal sleep schedule is about 5 hours, give or take. 

6. He has a fondness for dry wines and ale with some bitter or spicy taste to it. 

7. If he could, Sardar would eat nothing but fruit all day long.

8. He loves the feel of silk and mink and sable fur. 

9. Loves to climb trees and then hang upside down on one of the sturdier branches.

10. He both despises and fears spiders. Burn them all, he’ll yell while brandishing his sword wildly.

I've seen your and that perfectlydrawnlines's ocs around a bit now and I have to say I wanna know about them!! Like from your point of view. You have any headcanons?

Daaaamn I can’t believe how long I let this wonderful ask in my dash. I’m sorry, nonnie! I’m certain you forgot you sent this to me ages ago (I have a lot of asks I need to complete or answer) but I’m still going to reply to this. Thank you so much for being interested in my OCs! 

So much as betided since @jessicamarianadraws‘s OCs and my OCs first started out together so I will try to think of any recent or lasting headcanons I have had for a bit. 

For Una, she still maintains knowledge of blood magic but only uses it for emergencies. Especially when she eventually become a mother, she knows there are risks of having children with noble blood, especially when their father is the King of Ferelden. And when she learned she was carrying Felix’s child, she wanted to learn more about the family she was taken away from when she was four years old by Templars. She recalls having a father but barely remembers if her mother was around or not. With help from Felix, Una tracks down her old village and learns from her old neighbor that her father, a woodcarver, was killed by the darkspawn, so he never had the chance to know how far his daughter had come. However, she was told her mother was a wandering apostate mage that use to travel with a Dalish clan before she settled down with Una’s father. However, after she gave birth to Una, she contracted childbed fever and begged her husband not to go find a Chantry sister or a Circle mage to help because she was afraid to be taken and locked away once her identity as a mage came into light. Despite using natural means to stave off the fever and listen to his wife’s wishes, Una’s father watched Una’s mother died few weeks after their baby daughter was born. 

Devastated that she lost the chance to reconnect with her parents, Una decided with a heavy heart to try to find her mother’s Dalish clan in hopes she would have some remaining family members left. Felix helped her investigate all possible leads but their search had to put on hold when Una needed to rest and get ready for the birth of their child. It was a year later after this is when Una uncovered Lavellan Clan and met her cousin, Sigrún Lavellan. Apparently, magic is strong in their lineage, which both thrills and worries Una because if her baby, a bastard of the King of Ferelden, turns out to be a mage, she would lose most opportunities to raise, love, and teach her child and probably see them oh so rarely. Thus, Sigrún offered to take Una’s baby in if that should happen so Una’s baby can grow up as a free mage, if possible. 

Felix shares her fears and concerns about losing their child to the Circle of Magic because thanks to his royal duties, he probably cannot spend as much time as he wants to playing with his little one and doesn’t want to lose even more time with them. Una lives close to the royal palace so they can spend time together with their baby while also keeping up the pretense that Una isn’t his mistress and didn’t just give birth to a royal bastard. She wishes she could be Felix’s wife in name as well and erase her child’s bastard stigma but Una can’t imagine her life without Felix or their newborn so those sacrifices don’t bother her as much as it once did in the past.  

For Brynhild and Thanatos, I headcanoned that as soon as Brynhild first encountered him, she had the “oh no he’s hot” musing flashing in her brain. She remained professional but that didn’t stop her from flirting or winking impishly at him that Varric knew what was on her mind and ended up causing some mischief of his own to see if something would betide between Brynhild and Inquisitor Thanatos. Let’s just say there was a whole lot of passion, some intellectual conversations later followed by ardent kissing and groping, and the rest is history. 

“Didn’t know you had a thing for older men, Hawke,” remarked Varric once, a grin dancing on his chiseled visage. 

Sardar and Kasaanda are a relative new OC pairings but I love these two and watching their love blossom. Sardar thinks he’s incredible lucky to be with “the most beautiful woman in all of Thedas” and he will fight you on that if you say he’s wrong and his girlfriend is a savage beast. He’s amazed every day how wondrous, striking, skilled, and astute Kasaanda is and how amazing she looks no matter what he wears. He admits he is dense about fashion so Kasaanda (and Vivienne) have to help teach him how to find styles and colors that best suite him. And to actually make him wear shoes or boots because one cannot stroll into Orlais without proper footwear. 

Another fun, cute headcanon: he knows how to braid hair so when they’re together and alone, Sardar will braid Kasaanda’s hair once he’s finished with his.

What if Kasaanda hinted Sardar to ask her out? How would he handle it?

Oooh, he would love that! He’d probably arch one amused brow at her, lips twisting in a cheeky grin and then proceed to woo her in various ways, methods he knows she’d like. He’ll treat her like a goddess and make her feel very special and happy to be just herself. ;)

When I should be writing but I realized Sardar, along with many other OCs of mine, need close-ups of their charming little faces. Mainly so I can show off his cool hairdo and tattoos. Pretend he’s smiling, Sardar would never look so serious or dour like that. Unless he’s thinking or reminded of Tamlen.

Day 1: A Date In Orlais

Whoo-hoo! Here is the first day of ockiss18! Starting with a new ship @jessicamarianadraws and I formed: Sardar x Kasaanda. I wanted to have the chance to write a little bit about these two lovebirds and learn more about their dynamic. Hope you like this ficlet, Jess! :)

Orlais was vastly different compared to Ferelden or all his time within the forests of Thedas but surprisingly, Sardar didn’t mind all the fanfare, the elaborate decor, or how strange everyone was dressed or behaved. There was plenty to do in Val Royeaux and what was more, Kasaanda enjoyed her time here immensely. And he liked seeing her happy. 

“Oh, Sardar, come over here! You simply must try these pastries out!” cajoled the said qunari, motioning him over with an elegant, firm wave. “They are lighter than air.”

“Then how I will be able to taste them? If I can’t taste air, how can I eat those delicacies?” the Dalish elf teased, offering her a winsome smile to placate her for his terrible jape. Luckily for him, she had a sense humor for his jests and witty puns so she simply shook her head in amusement and offered him a small but well crafted pastry in the shape of a small ball, covered in thin, wispy strands of caramel. He sniffed it hesitantly. “What is it?”

“They call it a ‘croquembouche’. I’ve seen these piled up into a huge cone shape for enormous balls and celebrations all over Orlais.” Kasaanda explained as he popped the sweet treat into his mouth. He could hardly say no to her or anything with caramel in it, really. 

Almost immediately, he reveled in the taste of the caramel, sticky and honeyed, complemented by the smooth doughy pastry underneath and even before he could finishing chewing the croquembouche, he hungrily gazed at their display, not realizing how much he could love such a simple, small pastry. His lover laughed merrily at his reaction and signaled to the baker to order a dozen of them. If he wasn’t so mesmerized by the sweets, Sardar probably would have kissed her right then and there, on-lookers be damned. 

“You didn’t have to buy so many. I could have dealt with just one more.” The elf peered into the bag, licking his lips. “But I’m not complaining.”

“I couldn’t resist spoiling you a little, Sardar. After all, you told me you never had time to have such delicacies growing up so I thought now would be the time to change all of that.” She took a small bite into the pastry, careful so the caramel didn’t drip on her sleeves or the voluminous skirt of her beautiful blue, black, and gold gown. And her lovely, soft white hair was cascading down her back, a small, delicately plaited braid dangling gently in the center. To Sardar, she was an absolute vision to behold. After all, Kasaanda always knew how to dress splendidly and become a princess from one of those fairy tales. He was quite relieved Madame De Fer had time to assist him picking the best casual outfit for him to wear for his date with Kasaanda. He had no wish to look like a fool in front of her, while she looked like a goddess.

Of course not! And this will be nice and long so I’ll do my best to answer them all. Thank you for the ask!

Una

1. Where were they born? Do they identify with their homeland?

She was born in a small village near West Hill and the North Road in Ferelden but barely recalls the hamlet because she was around four or five when her magic manifest and was taken by the templars. 

2.What weapon/type of magic do they prefer to use and is there a story behind it?

Since Una is a battlemage, for magic she will use a combination of spiritual cold/frost types as well blood magic and spirit aura abilities from Arcane Warrior. With her weapon, Una carries Branka’s shield and Spellweaver. 

3. Does your character have many family members? Who are they?

Una doesn’t know much about her family but she remembers having a mother and father. Later, Sardar Mahariel discovers Una has a cousin among the Dalish, from the Lavellan clan. Her name is Sigrún.

4. When did they first encounter magic? What happened?

When she first showed signs of being a mage. Her mother and Una were a near pond when Una froze it so she could ice skating because she never had the chance before. Her mother was quite proud and happy, for she was an apostate mage who managed to hide her magical abilities and had hoped to teach her daughter in secret. Unfortunately, one of their neighbors witnessed Una’s display of magic and alerted their small, but local Chantry. 

5. Are they scared of magic?

Nope, she’s a mage and loves her gift. 

6. Do they follow a religion or school of philosophy?

Una believes in the Maker but doesn’t follow most of what the Chantry preaches because some of the texts and teachings just feel so wrong and contradictory. 

7. What about political factions? Do they support a certain sovereign or movement?

She’s a proud Ferelden and since her lover, Felix, is the new King, she supports him too. 

8. Do they feel better in cities or out in the country?

Honestly, Una doesn’t mind big or small cities but she loves being near grasslands or open fields that have streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, or large bodies of water. She can see the stars and moon better when there aren’t too many buildings or towers to obscure the view. 

9. Does your character have an ideal?

As a mage, she wants freedom and equality for any who has magic running through their veins, regardless of race. She wants the Circle to be changed and would be the first in line to support of a more college or school based version of the Circle.  

10. Do they have a major goal or an agenda in their life?

After the Blight was over, Una balances her time helping the Wardens find a cure or recruits, trying to find new ways to expand mages’s rights without risking more demonic possessions, spend more time in Orzammar, and hopefully, if possible, have a child or two. 

11. What languages do they speak? How did they learn them?

She knows the common tongue and during her time in the Circle, took the time to learn both Orlesian and Antivan. After going to Orzammar, she wants to learn more about old the dwarven runes and their language. 

12. Are they a member of an order or organization (for example Grey Wardens, Chantry, Magisterium etc.)? 

She is a part of the Grey Wardens but spend much of her time at Ferelden court when needed.

13. Does your character have an opinion on blood magic?

A last resort, a necessary in case all else should fail or she needs to protect those she loves (like Felix, for instance). After learning about how Felix become a Warden and his desire to kill Howe, she offered to use blood magic on the odious man so he could suffer in more for what he did to Felix’s family. She’s not proud of the idea but she really wanted Howe, who hurt the man she loves so dearly, to pay for his crimes.

14. Which form would the fear demon take to scare your character?

Probably of a mirror version of herself becoming a Broodmother. 

15. Who is your character’s most trusted friend?

Excluding my other Warden OCs; Alistair, her dog, and Morrigan. 

Brynhild 

1. Where were they born? Do they identify with their homeland?

Brynhild was born in the Bannorn area in Ferelden. She doesn’t really have any strong ties to any country but she does have a soft spot for Fereldan because that’s where most of her memories with her family lie. 

2.What weapon/type of magic do they prefer to use and is there a story behind it?

She does a combo of Entropy and Blood magic because she loved either slamming her opponents to the ground, crushing them, sending them flying, or using their own blood against them. The story behind how she got involved with blood magic revolves around her little romance/fling with Gascard DuPuis.

3. Does your character have many family members? Who are they?

Their was her father, mother, and twin younger siblings, Bethany and Carver. I really don’t have any OC siblings or cousins or other family relatives in line for her right now. 

4. When did they first encounter magic? What happened?

Her first encounter with magic was when she was very young and her father entertaining her by creating small orbs of fire that floated in mid-air or water shapes to dance around in the water. 

5. Are they scared of magic?

Not in the slightest. She’s a mage and has been surrounded by magic all her life. 

6. Do they follow a religion or school of philosophy?

Brynhild is Andrastian but is like Varric when it comes to practicing the religion. 

7. What about political factions? Do they support a certain sovereign or movement?

After Kirkwall, Brynhild has stopped giving a flying fig about politics and pretty much supports herself and fellow friends. 

8. Do they feel better in cities or out in the country?

She feels right at home in both places. She doesn’t really have a preference for those sort of things. 

9. Does your character have an ideal?

She wants the lot of mages to be improved upon but didn’t want to be leading a crusade or whatever Anders had in mind. Also, is very tired of all this drama between nations and races and simply wants everyone to sort the shit out. 

10. Do they have a major goal or an agenda in their life?

At some point, she wants to settle down/find a new home or at least, begin a family. Brynhild also desires to reunite with her siblings and some of her friends from Kirkwall, like Varric, and have them stay awhile. 

11. What languages do they speak? How did they learn them?

Besides common tongue, her mother wanted to give her a noble education so she was taught Orlesian in-between her magic lessons. Tevene came later, when her parents were seriously considering running to Tevinter before they nicked that idea. So her Tevene is functionally fluent at best. Right now, she is learning smidgens of Neverran. 

12. Are they a member of an order or organization (for example Grey Wardens, Chantry, Magisterium etc.)?

Brynhild helps out with the Inquisition but mainly is on her own in terms of being in an orgization. 

13. Does your character have an opinion on blood magic?

Use it when necessary but treat with it care. She doesn’t want to get addicted to using it. 

14. Which form would the fear demon take to scare your character?

A Tranquil version of her, losing herself and freedom. 

15. Who is your character’s most trusted friend?

Varric and Thanatos.
