The story of Swami Sivananda's Guru, Swami Vishwananda Saraswati:
In short, when Swami Sivananda renounced the world, he was a doctor serving in hospitals of the rubber plantations in Malaysia. He first returned to India and came for a time to Varanasi, then made his way to Rishikesh, by holy Mother Ganga. He prayed to Lord Shiva, this was ideal place for his sadhana and grateful for Shiva's blessing to be in such holy atmosphere. Next morning after sleeping on the veranda of a local temple he awoke to meditate. When he opened his eyes he found another Yogi sitting by him in deep meditation. He immediately recognized him as his Guru, and gave full prostrations. This was holy ParamGuru Swami Vishwananda Saraswati, who then gave Swami Sivananda initiation as a Swami in holy monastic Dasnami Order of Adi Sankaracharya. Swami Vishwananda said he was from holy Varanasi and if Swami Sivananda wanted he could accompany him to return. Swami Sivananda chose to stay in holy Rishikesh. Later many of Swami Sivananda's monastic disciples, including Swami Paramananda, Swami Venkatesananda, and others searched throughout the Rishikesh and all of Varanasi areas, but found no Swami by that name anywhere. It was concluded that this was Lord Vishwanath Himself, Lord Shiva. This was in 1924.

"Okay, to be fair, if your powers were exacerbated when the cutest girl you've ever seen, somehow, sends you to the hospital with hypothermia after a heady make-out session, you would keep the backstory of how you discovered said powers a secret too. Plus, the death of Goliath, my arrest by S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as the Superhuman Registration Act kind of kept me from going after her, you know? Well, that, and the brief team up with Captain America. And keeping in touch with Clyde Dobronski and Olga. And making sure my mom's all right. That's the most important thing." YUSEF ABBAS used to be an ordinary kid who always admired the superheroes he saw on tv. He's not really all that ordinary anymore now. In fact, he may have gotten what he wished for: the ability to help out. His meeting with Khione was a chance one. Her mom, Saraswati, was in Toledo, Ohio to shoot a few episodes of the first season of The Fabulous Lives of Superhero Wives in which The Wives TM helped out at the Owens Public Housing Project. Khione and Yusef were never officially together. If given time, they could have been. But everything came crashing down when she kissed him for the first (and the last) time and took his body heat. She can still recall the way his skin turned blue. Yusef wasn't kissed by fire but by ice and that is what exacerbated the abilities he's shown since childhood. Yusef has minor elemental powers, letting him manipulate his environment in small ways such as freezing a puddle or creating fog to obscure his movements. Afterwards, he got accepted to Sky U on a full ride. He moved to Maxville with his mom where she opened Abbas Groceries. Both of them still live there to this day and Yusef works a few shifts whenever his mom needs him to. In between putting out fires and getting lead out of water as The Helper, he's taken up ice skating at the Maxville Ice Arena. At first, it was exposure therapy of some sorts but he genuinely came to enjoy it. Everyone around him is pushing him to switch from solo skating to pair skating but he's unsure if that's something he wants. He has long since forgiven Khione for the role she played in the exacerbation of his abilities. But seeing as she's actively avoiding him at school, he'll just tell her about it on the ice.

Visit Kumbh With Rajasthan Travel Plan
The ongoing Mahakumbh festival in Prayagraj has become a remarkable celebration of faith, culture, and meticulous planning, drawing over 10 crore devotees and visitors as of January 23.
On Makar Sankranti (January 14), an astounding 3.5 crore devotees gathered to take a sacred dip at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers meet.
The festival is expected to attract a total of 45 crore devotees by its conclusion, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.
Adding to the grandeur, a 21-member delegation from 10 countries—including Fiji, Finland, Guyana, Malaysia, Mauritius, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago, and the UAE—participated in the festivities on January 16, experiencing the profound spiritual and cultural heritage of the Maha Kumbh. The delegation was hosted at the luxurious Tent City in Arail, where state-of-the-art accommodations highlighted India’s hospitality.
This year’s Maha Kumbh stands out as a harmonious blend of ancient rituals and modern advancements. With a focus on sustainability and global cultural exchange, the festival has elevated its appeal while preserving its spiritual essence. The event features highlights such as the majestic 85-foot-tall “Tejas Pandal,” inspired by the HAL Tejas fighter jet, symbolizing India’s technological progress.
The Akharas, renowned for their spiritual and martial traditions, continue to be central to the Kumbh’s vibrancy. Complementing these traditions are exhibitions like “One District, One Product,” showcasing local craftsmanship, and Kalagram, a living museum of Indian arts, crafts, and cuisines.
Visitors have been mesmerized by drone shows depicting the legendary tales of “Prayag Mahatmyam” and “Samudra Manthan.” The festival also boasts cultural performances by iconic artists such as Shankar Mahadevan, Mohit Chauhan, and Kailash Kher, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere that will extend until February 24, 2025.
The Shahi Snans, the heart of Maha Kumbh, hold immense spiritual significance. Upcoming bathing dates include:
– January 29 (Mauni Amavasya): The second Shahi Snan marks a propitious day for spiritual purification, commemorating the sage Rishabh Dev’s vow of silence.
– February 3 (Basant Panchami): Celebrating the arrival of Goddess Saraswati and the onset of spring.
– February 12 (Maghi Purnima): Honoring Guru Brahaspati and divine descents.
– February 26 (Maha Shivratri): Marking the final holy bath and a day of reverence for Lord Shiva.
Unparalleled Infrastructure and Arrangements: The Uttar Pradesh government has undertaken massive preparations to ensure a seamless experience for devotees:
Security: Over 50,000 police personnel, 14,000 home guards, and 2,750 AI-enabled CCTV cameras ensure safety, supported by advanced disaster-response vehicles.
Transportation: Infrastructure upgrades include 14 new flyovers, 9 permanent ghats, and 12 kilometers of temporary ghats. A fleet of 120 electric buses, including double-deckers, has been introduced, and Indian Railways has launched special services, including a toll-free helpline and the Maha Kumbh Mela app.
Accommodation: Thousands of tents and shelters, from basic to super deluxe, have transformed Maha Kumbh Nagar into a temporary city.
Navigation: Around 800 multilingual signages and a dedicated app provide real-time updates on crowd density, directions, and facilities.
Health and Hygiene: Healthcare facilities include 6,000 beds, 43 hospitals, and thousands of sanitation workers maintaining cleanliness. Mobile food labs ensure safe meals across 25 sectors, while free meals serve over 20,000 people daily. Special arrangements, such as refilling 5,000 gas cylinders daily, cater to the needs of Akharas and Kalpvasis.
The Maha Kumbh 2025 has set a new benchmark for managing large-scale events, combining tradition with technology to welcome a global audience. With its record-breaking participation, enhanced infrastructure, and spiritual significance, the Maha Kumbh stands as a beacon of India’s cultural and organizational prowess, inspiring millions with its message of faith and unitya

On some days, I miss my grandmother a little more. I miss her wrinkled, warm hands. I miss her smile, teeth reddened because of the paan. I miss how she used to braid my hair, much to my nagging. I miss how she used to shield me, when my mother came to hit me. I miss how we used to hold pinkies, I miss how I used to tell her, "you are my jigri dost." I miss coming home to her warm, comforting presence. I miss the constant chattering of her TV. I miss helping her with her eyedrops.
I regret going to my friend's house the day before she died. I miss not waking up earlier, on the day she died, so that, I could spend a little more time with her, before they took her to the hospital. I regret talking to her crossly, urging her to go to bed, the day before she died. I regret forgetting to download the song she always wanted to listen to in her phone. I regret smiling at her when she said she wanted to use a smartphone. I regret not watching that one film with her. I regret refusing to eat that khichdi she always wanted me to eat. When it comes to her, I have a lot of regrets.
2 years and 6 days have passed, since she died. I'm forgetting her voice. But, I can never forget how cold her hands felt when they took her to the hospital. I will never forget how empty my heart felt when I saw her corpse. I will never forget how my throat went dry when they carried her to the samshan ghat. I will never forget the promise she made to me. I will never forget how my father cried at her feet. I will never forget how I begged to God to bring her back, for her to hug me and tell me she's there.
It hurts. It hurts to think that all that she wanted me to become, I did become, after she got to see it. She always wanted to see me secure a rank, which I did, exactly 3 months after she left me. It hurts to know that I got so many accolades, so many prizes, after she died. It hurts to know that I did make all her dreams come true, after she died. It hurts to know that I couldn't fulfill her dream of taking her to Puri.
She loved it when I sing. And the only reason I still sing is because of her. But, I don't practice at home, because the last time I did, the last time I played sa with my index on the harmonium, my voice cracked, and I started bawling. I never picked up the harmonium since then at home.
I want her to come back. I want her to come back home and say she had just gone on a long trip. I want her to braid my hair again, I gre it out for her. I want her to know this year, I'm wearing her saree for Saraswati puja, just like she always wanted me to. I want her to know I miss her everyday. I want her to know that I want to hug her. I want her to know I lover her, more than anything. I want her to know that I would do anything, beg to anyone, if it meant that she would come back. I would do anything to catch a glimpse of her again. God knows I will go to the ends of the world, to the underworld, to anywhere, if it meant that I would get to spend time with her again.

India kicks off largest religious festival
Millions of Hindu worshippers from across India gathered in the northern city of Prayagraj to start the Maha Kumbh festival, AP News reported.
Over the next six weeks, Hindu pilgrims will gather at the Ganges, the Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati. There they will take part in elaborate rituals, hoping to achieve a release from the cycle of rebirths.
Believers think that immersion in waters will cleanse them of past sins and complete the process of reincarnation. The most auspicious of these days occur in cycles of 12 years during a festival called the Maha Kumbh Mela, or pitcher festival.
Ablutions take place every day, but the naked, ash-covered monks rush to the sacred rivers at dawn on the most auspicious days. Many pilgrims stay for the entire festival, observing austerities, giving alms and performing ablutions at sunrise each day.
A smaller version of the festival, Ardh (Half) Kumbh, was organised in 2019, with 240 million visitors registered. Of these, around 50 million performed the ritual ablution on the busiest day.
World’s largest gathering
At least 400 million people are expected at Prayagraj over the next 45 days. That’s about 200 times more than the 2 million pilgrims who travelled to the holy Muslim cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage last year.
The festival site is equipped with more than 3,000 kitchens and 150,000 toilets. Divided into 25 sections and stretching over 40 square kilometres (15 square miles), the tent city also has housing, roads, electricity and water, communication towers and 11 hospitals.
Indian Railways has also launched over 90 special trains that will make around 3,300 journeys during the festival to transport the worshippers. Around 50,000 security personnel have also been deployed in the city to maintain law and order and contain the crowds.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support is also expected to strengthen the festival. The Uttar Pradesh state headed by Yogi Adityanath, a popular Hindu monk and politician in Modi’s party, has allocated over $765 million for this year’s event.
The event will reinforce the past record of the ruling Hindu Bharatiya Janata Party in promoting Hindu cultural symbols.

How MRI Helps in Trauma & Emergency Care: A Lifesaver in Critical Situations
When accidents or emergencies happen, the first thing doctors need is accurate information about the internal injuries. This is where MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) plays a crucial role.
What is an MRI?
MRI is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that utilizes powerful magnets and radio waves to capture detailed images of the body’s organs and tissues. This technology helps doctors visualize internal injuries or conditions without the need for surgery or radiation. Unlike X-rays, MRI doesn't involve harmful radiation, making it a safe choice for diagnosing medical conditions.
Why is MRI Important in Trauma & Emergency Care?
Quick Diagnosis: In emergencies, time is of the essence. MRI helps doctors quickly identify injuries such as fractures, brain bleeding, and soft tissue damage. This rapid response can be critical, ensuring that patients receive the necessary treatment without delay.
Accurate Imaging: MRI provides highly detailed images of soft tissues like muscles, ligaments, and the brain, which are crucial in trauma cases. It helps doctors understand the extent of the injury and make the right decisions for treatment.
Non-Invasive: Since MRI doesn't require surgery or injections, it is ideal for critically ill patients who might be too weak for more invasive procedures. It provides valuable information without causing additional stress.
Helps in Spinal & Brain Injuries: MRI is especially useful in detecting spinal cord injuries or brain trauma, such as concussions or brain swelling. This is critical for patients who may have experienced a head or back injury during an accident.

[ad_1] GG News Bureau Prayagraj, 2nd Jan. As the world anticipates the grand spiritual gathering of 2025, Maha Kumbh at Prayagraj is poised to be a transformative pilgrimage for millions. The festival, hailed as the pinnacle of Sanatan Dharma, brings together devotion, culture, and mythology, culminating in a spiritual journey like no other. The sacred city of Prayagraj, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers converge, offers the perfect backdrop for the largest gathering of pilgrims in the world. As the epicenter of this divine event, it stands as an enduring symbol of India’s rich spiritual heritage, where faith meets tradition, and history becomes legend. In a unique symbolic gesture, the Central Hospital in Maha Kumbh Nagar witnessed the birth of a baby girl, named ‘Ganga,’ just before the beginning of the festival. Alongside her, a boy named ‘Kumbh’ was born, marking a sacred beginning. These births mirror the timeless cycle of life, echoing the essence of the holy rivers and the Maha Kumbh festival itself. The newly operational hospital, equipped with modern healthcare facilities, is a symbol of Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to blending tradition with progress, ensuring human welfare during the Mela. Spiritual Heritage of Prayagraj At the heart of Prayagraj lies the revered Baba Loknath Mahadev temple, an iconic spiritual site that draws pilgrims from across the globe. Known as a ‘pratiroop’ (reflection) of Kashi’s Baba Vishwanath, this temple’s ancient history is mentioned in the Skanda Purana and Mahabharata. Pilgrims believe that the blessings of Baba Loknath can alleviate worldly struggles. The temple has also witnessed celebrations with significant cultural legacy, including the Shiv Barat procession during Shivratri and Holi festivities. These vibrant events only add to the rich spiritual fabric of Prayagraj, which will host thousands during Maha Kumbh. The Naga Ascetics and Compassion in Sanatan Dharma A unique aspect of the Maha Kumbh is the presence of Naga ascetics and saints, who, despite their austere lives, embody the compassion central to Sanatan Dharma. The stories of Mahant Shravan Giri and Mahant Tara Giri, who share an unbreakable bond with their pets Lali and Soma, showcase the philosophy of ahimsa (non-violence) and the value of all living beings. These compassionate stories highlight the inclusivity of the Maha Kumbh, where spirituality extends to every living entity. Maharishi Durvasa Ashram: A Beacon of Hope Adding another layer to Prayagraj’s spiritual allure is the Maharishi Durvasa Ashram in the tranquil Jhunsi region. This ancient site, associated with the legendary sage Maharishi Durvasa, is revered for its connection with Lord Shiva and the power of penance. The ashram, known for its stories of divine intervention, has been undergoing restoration to welcome devotees during the Maha Kumbh. The ashram symbolizes the eternal connection between mythology, spirituality, and the divine. Maha Kumbh: A Four-Dimensional Celebration The Maha Kumbh transcends mere religious gathering; it is a four-dimensional phenomenon – a spiritual journey, a logistical marvel, an economic boost, and a testament to global unity. The concept of Kalpvas, where individuals disconnect from the digital world to reconnect with eternal truths, encapsulates the transformative power of this sacred event. For the devotees, the Maha Kumbh is more than just a festival; it is a way of life. The event embraces the values of Sanatan Vedic Hinduism, where dharma is intertwined with commerce, creating a sacred space for introspection and divine connection. Invitation to Reconnect with Divine Roots As the sacred sands of Sangam await millions of devotees in 2025, the Maha Kumbh promises to be an unparalleled spiritual odyssey. From the divine blessings of Baba Loknath to the mythological legacies of Maharishi Durvasa, from the deep connection of ascetics with nature to the miracles of life itself, the Maha Kumbh offers an opportunity
to reconnect with one’s roots and partake in a divine celebration that transcends the mundane. The Maha Kumbh 2025 will be a unique tapestry of faith, devotion, and transcendence, inviting millions to experience the eternal wisdom of Sanatan Dharma. A Spiritual and Scenic Himalayan Journey : Adi Kailash trek
The Adi Kailash Trek is a spectacular journey that takes trekkers into the remote and serene landscapes of Uttarakhand, offering both spiritual significance and breathtaking views. Located in the Kumaon region, this trek takes you to the sacred Adi Kailash mountain, which is often referred to as the "Chhota Kailash" due to its resemblance to the mighty Mount Kailash in Tibet. This trek is a perfect blend of natural beauty, adventure, and spirituality, making it a must-visit for trekkers and pilgrims alike.
Tumblr media
Spiritual Significance of Adi Kailash
Adi Kailash is not just a geographical marvel, but also a highly revered spiritual site for Hindus. It is believed to be the original abode of Lord Shiva, and many pilgrims come here to seek blessings. The region is also associated with Mata Parvati and Lord Ganesha, and its mystical charm draws both religious devotees and adventure seekers. Along the trek, you will also pass by several temples, including the Panchachuli Temple and Gauri Kund, which are important pilgrimage sites.
Trek Duration and Difficulty
The Adi Kailash Trek is not an easy trek, and it requires good physical fitness and some previous trekking experience due to its high-altitude nature and remote location. The trek usually lasts between 12 to 14 days, and it involves a lot of uphill climbs, river crossings, and walks through rugged terrains. The highest point of the trek reaches 16,000 feet, and trekkers need to be well-prepared for the altitude. Proper acclimatization is necessary to avoid altitude sickness. However, the trek is rewarding, with views that make every step worthwhile.
Best Time to Visit Adi Kailash
The ideal time to undertake the Adi Kailash Trek is during the summer months from May to June and September to October. During these months, the weather is relatively stable, with clear skies and pleasant temperatures. The monsoon season (July-August) should be avoided due to heavy rainfall, which can make the trail slippery and dangerous. Winters (November to February) can be harsh with heavy snowfall, making the trek more challenging, though it also offers the opportunity to see the region covered in pristine snow.
Highlights of the Adi Kailash Trek
Scenic Beauty: The trek takes you through some of the most untouched landscapes in the Himalayas, including thick forests of deodar and pine, alpine meadows, and clear glacial lakes.
Cultural Experience: The journey offers an opportunity to immerse in the culture of the local Kumaoni people, known for their hospitality and traditional lifestyle.
Spirituality: The trek is steeped in religious significance, with temples and pilgrimage spots dotted along the way.
Majestic Views: From the towering Adi Kailash peak to the snow-capped mountain ranges of Nanda Devi and Trishul, the panoramic views are breathtaking and incredibly rewarding for trekkers.
The Trekking Experience
The Adi Kailash trek takes you through charming villages such as Om Parvat, Jolingkong, and Gunji, where you can experience the local way of life. Along the way, you will cross beautiful rivers like the Kali Ganga and Saraswati River. The trail is dotted with serene landscapes, and the air is filled with the refreshing aroma of pine and rhododendron forests. As you gain altitude, the views become even more stunning, with the mighty Himalayas dominating the skyline.
Preparation for the Adi Kailash Trek
Due to the challenging nature of the trek, it is important to be physically fit before embarking on the journey. Regular exercise, cardio workouts, and strength training can help prepare your body for the trek. Make sure to carry warm clothing, proper trekking boots, a sleeping bag, and trekking poles for stability on uneven paths. A good-quality first aid kit, water purification tablets, and energy snacks are essential items to carry.
The Adi Kailash Trek is not just a physical journey; it is a journey of the soul. Whether you are a spiritual seeker, an adventure enthusiast, or someone who wants to explore the untouched beauty of the Indian Himalayas, the Adi Kailash trek promises a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Its challenging paths, spiritual significance, and stunning landscapes make it one of the most coveted treks in Uttarakhand. Make sure you plan your trek well and prepare thoroughly, as the memories of this sacred and scenic adventure will stay with you forever.
