Magia Record - Witch encyclopedia translations (Arc 2)

Here’s the witches (and related creatures) newly appearing in Arc 2, now split off from the original post for length.

New Witches appearing in Arc 2 (or event stories released during Arc 2):

ALBERTINE

The witch of scribbles. Her nature is ignorance. She loves playing hide-and-seek. But her minions aren't very smart, so nobody ever searches for her.

ETTEILLA

The witch of fortune tellers. Her nature is disclosure. A witch who single-mindedly attempts to uncover the truth within the various destinies that are consolidated in her Labyrinth. Able to gaze across past, present and future, she feels joy at the fact that all destinies are hers alone to know, and ceaselessly turns over the tarot cards atop her table. If a visitor were to arrive, she would believe them to be someone who'd recognize her power, and would gladly unveil the truths enclosed within them. But the truths that become visible aren't always happy-- and on top of that, accepting them as truth will prompt the witch to turn you into her apprentice, rendering escape impossible. If you were to oppose her, it's said that she would show you every suffering imaginable.

*The witch form of Mel Anna, who appears in the newly-added segment of Mel and Kanae’s event story.

ISABEAU

La Reine's Twilight. Her nature is dominion. An avaricious witch who desires endless power and influence. This witch's main body is actually separate from her larva-shaped legs, and the real body protected by a hard outer shell only rarely reveals its true form. Her Labyrinth is immense enough to cover an entire country, and the populace trapped within it remain none the wiser. The witch feeds on the grief, terror and other negative emotions of the populace swallowed by her Labyrinth's darkness, and expands her power and territory to become an ever-mightier witch within an ever-larger Labyrinth.

*The witch form of Isabeau of Bavaria, who appears in the third Darc Magica event story.

OSHITI

The witch of gokumon. Her nature is to weep sleevefuls of tears. A witch convicted of sin, who has been reduced to only a head and suspended upside-down. Upon finding a human who has wandered into her Labyrinth, she insistently attempts to appeal to them about something, but her voice is emitted as rays of heat that burn her surroundings to ash. She is apparently waiting for someone while suspended, but even if that someone were to enter the Labyrinth, they would surely meet the fate of being turned to ash by the witch's voice. The graveyards crowding the witch's Labyrinth are piled high with gravestones: one stone for each sin the witch has committed, and for each lingering regret of an innocent.

SUZUGAMORI

Minions of the witch of gokumon. Their role is to strangle. Minions that exist to punish their sinful witch. Though they all worked together to string the witch up, they're apparently dissatisfied with the fact that she's just a head, and are searching for her torso. They and the witch display excellent teamwork, as the minions capture intruders and the witch incinerates them with her screams, but they're not doing it intentionally. The minions are frequently caught in the witch's appeals and incinerated as well. Sometimes, they venture outside the Labyrinth to select people, objects or animals that could serve as the witch's torso, but they're apparently not the type to particularly care about whether the size matches. It's the vibe that's important.

SARAH MIRABILIS W

The witch of mirrors. Her nature is seclusion. A cowardly witch who grew from a familiar, and who is constantly engaged in building her manifold Labyrinth. She spends her days glancing back and forth, constantly on guard against her surroundings, while pondering how she can most efficiently expand her tiny mansion. Over the course of doing so, she obtained eyes that can survey everything there is to see, as well as a twisting spiral shell. Upon sensing the presence of her parent witch, she actively attempts to grow larger by connecting to the parent's gigantic mansion, and is constantly on the lookout for an opportunity to do so. She summons familiars to protect herself when threatened, but she's terribly discomforted by the gunshots they make when they attack, so she'd honestly prefer it if they stopped using them.

H.N. ELLY (KIRSTEN)

The witch of boxes. Her nature is admiration. A dyed-in-the-wool shut-in witch. Everything that she admires, she locks away within glass. She can easily read the minds of those who are locked away, but if you just hit her without thinking about it first, then there's no issue.

DANIYYEL + JENNIFER

Minions of the witch of boxes. Their role is to transport objects. (*No encyclopedia entry, despite appearing as enemies in-game.)

RASPBERRY

The witch of critics. Her nature is authority. A witch who passionately endeavors to sort out that which has value from that which does not. She apparently stabs stakes into the valueless things, and hands flowers to the valuable things, but it's extraordinarily rare for anything besides the witch herself to receive a flower. Her standards of arbitration are unclear. Her Labyrinth is filled with light in the colors of the things and people that have been crushed by her stakes.

RAZZIE

Minions of the witch of critics. Their role is to jump on bandwagons. When something is deemed valueless by the witch, these jumping, flea-like minions will descend upon it en masse. These minions only do so because they desperately want to gnaw at their target with their large, pincer-shaped mouths, and have zero interest in any of the "value" nonsense that their witch talks about.

BOXWOOD

The witch of stone-dwelling fish. Her nature is sequestration. A witch who collects particular kinds of garbage within her Labyrinth, and builds a nest with them. She loves the time she spends cooped up in her tube-shaped nest more than anything else. She typically just swims around the interior of her nest, but should any pesky-looking intruders show up, she'll unfold her neck frills and attack them with body slams. Apparently, the sky inside her Labyrinth is filled with pasta as an imitation of the pasta-shaped god she once saw.

MADE IN 168

Witch No.168. A being that plays the role of a witch within the space created by Iroha's Doppel. Its creation was underlied by its creator's mental image of witches, as well as minions that left a particular impression on her, so its face seems somehow familiar. When it sees any foreign intruders, it tries to use its massive body to stamp them flat, but this witch itself doesn't have any will of its own. The Grief Seeds that fly out of it upon defeat are symbols created from crystallized impurity.

NEO DOROTHY

(*Doesn’t seem to have an in-game encyclopedia entry yet, though the image files that’d be used for the entry are present. Tragically, her name is just “Neo Dorothy”.)

SLAVE OF ANIMA

The witch of meat grillers. Her nature is to labor. A dog-shaped witch who lives purely for the sake of her job. She continually grills meat by turning a wheel as a power source. She's long since forgotten why she was working this job in the first place. When the witch eventually dies of overwork, a suitable candidate is selected from the minions in her Labyrinth, and made to spin the wheel as the next witch.

Their main jobs are to serve the meat grilled by the witch and to wash the plates, but there aren't actually any customers, so they secretly throw the meat out. It's a harsh job environment, but in their opinion, it's at least better than becoming the next witch of meat grillers. )

МАРУСЯ (*pronounced ‘Marousya’)

The witch of flower paths. Her nature is to return alive. A witch that drifted in from a foreign region. By absorbing human corpses into herself, she can reincarnate them as her minions. This gentle-hearted witch sets out to find and absorb corpses not to expand her sphere of influence, but simply as a means of resurrecting them. However, she's not great at discerning whether her targets are alive or already dead. There are countless minions jostling for space beneath the runway in her Labyrinth; in this witch's former place of residence, she was never short on material to reincarnate.

They're constantly muttering some sort of protest to those nearby, but since their brains are simply replaying their memories from immediately before and after death on loop, they're not saying anything very important anyway, and you're honestly better off not knowing.)

New Rumors appearing in Arc 2:

“WIND EVANGELIST” RUMOR

The final Rumor that Nemu attempted to create during her fight with Alina at the end of Arc 1, meant to spread the story of Puella Magi to the world at large in the event of Nemu’s death. Despite starting out being weak and bodiless, she survived by fusing with Kagome Satori, who can now sense the presence of nearby Puella Magi and telepathically overhear their conversations. Kagome calls her “Ri-chan”. In Arc 2 Chapter 5, she gets upgraded with a physical body (pictured above).

“MAY BELLS OF HAPPINESS” RUMOR “My, have you heard? Who'd you hear it from? The May Bells of Happiness, and the rumor thereof! Once Miss Ripper's all done ripping, and finds that which she lost, a beautiful string of bells will burst into full bloom! And they'll share their happy scent with poor, poor, lonely you. Just relax and sink into the scent, and it'll pull in this girl and that girl to build your very own ideal world! For any other girl who gets in the way, it's bye-bye: back to that crummy reality! And for you, in all your happiness, it's bye-bye: away from that crummy reality! They say that once you get hooked, there's no going back. It's a rumor that EVERYONE snoozing on the rooftops is talking about. Oh, what a nice smell~!”

　A Rumor encountered during the third Suzune Magica event story. In response to Kagari Hinata's desire to bring back Tsubaki Mikoto and have a happy family life, it pulls the minds of her, Suzune, Matsuri, Aimi, Kokoro, Masara, and Tsubaki (from the time period prior to her death) into an imaginary world where they fight witches on friendly terms with one another. The longer a person stays inside, the harder it becomes for outside observers to perceive said person, until they eventually become completely invisible.

　Though nobody remembers anything at first due to a combination of Kagari's magic and the Rumor's scent, finding and touching the May bells within the dream world gradually eliminates said scent, leading the group to remember what happened in reality. Despite the Rumor's last-ditch attempt to keep them inside by taking Tsubaki’s form, Tsubaki herself puts an end to it, while telling Suzune and the Hinata sisters that she'll always care deeply for all of them.

　(Judging by Suzune's relatively friendly behavior towards the other Puella Magi assembled on the scene afterwards, the aftereffects of the Rumor may have weakened Kagari's memory-manipulation magic... though perhaps not for long, as a heartbroken Kagari still has her mind set on her revenge plan.)

".............” RUMOR “My, have you heard? Who'd you hear it from? ............, and the rumor thereof! She tried to steal some magic to meet that girl she wants to meet, but happened to be greeted by a totally different world outside! So she can't make heads or tails of who she wanted to meet at all! When she senses a desire to meet someone, she’ll peek out from her digital world, but since she can't tell who "that girl" is, she'll kidnap any random soul she sees! They’ll get sent back eventually, but the whole time until then, she broadcasts her lonely anxiety to them in a scaaaary dream! How tough! How tragic! How totally out of hand! "The girl she wants to meet again" doesn't actually exist, and "her feelings of wanting to meet her again" can't be fulfilled... so the whole thing's just going nowhere fast! It's a rumor that EVERYONE in Kamihama is talking about. What a buzzy broadcast!”

　A new Rumor that appears in Sana's Valentine's Day 2021 event story. During an experiment by Touka and Nemu meant to test whether Rumors can be migrated from Nemu's book to a more permanent server, Ai briefly attempts to borrow Nemu's energy and manifest a new body for herself. Contact between Sana and Nemu at the same time results in a half-formed offshoot Rumor made from aspects of both Ai and Sana, which then escapes out into the world.

　Since the Rumor possesses both Sana and Ai’s respective desires to meet each other again, she’s confused about both her own identity and the person she’s looking for. The issue is ultimately resolved by having Sana and Ai fuse together: this allows the Rumor to meet them both in the form of a single entity, followed by them safely defeating her.

　The nightmare world she pulls people into also features the following minion Rumors:

MR. PURRS-A-LOT THE KITTEN RUMOR

“My, have you heard? Who'd you hear it from? Mr. Purrs-a-lot the Kitten, and the rumor thereof! He's a been popular little idol since way back in the day, showing up on TV, in books, and even as a stuffed toy! Today, much like every day, he's playing in town with friends like Curlymagne, Wonderfur, and Darkrow too. But you'd better watch out just a teensy bit... when he's with Piggles or Moortimer, he'll blurt out things that can jab people right in the heart. It's a rumor that EVERYONE in Kamihama is talking about. Purr, purr, meoooow!”

PIGGLES THE PIG RUMOR

“My, have you heard? Who'd you hear it from? Piggles the Pig, and the rumor thereof! He's Mr. Purrs-a-lot's big-stomached friend, who lives in harmony with everyone in Animal Village! No matter what meal it is, as long as it's got pickles, he'll forget all about his full belly and gobble it right up! He's also spacey, cheerful, and the life of everyone's party, but when he's with Moortimer, he'll start nagging people about everything they're no good at. It's a rumor that EVERYONE in Kamihama is talking about. Oink, grunt, boooo!!”

MOORTIMER THE COW RUMOR

“My, have you heard? Who'd you hear it from? Moortimer the Cow, and the rumor thereof! He's Mr. Purrs-a-lot's strong yet gentle frield, who lives in harmony with everyone in Animal Village! He's warm and kind when he plays with everyone, and really popular with little kids! But he's actually just a teensy bit weak-hearted and stressed-- so when Piggles chews someone out, he'll join in and bully them too! It's a rumor that EVERYONE in Kamihama is talking about. Moo, moo, moooo-rgh!! ”

“TANGLED-UP RUINS” RUMOR “My, have you heard? Who'd you hear it from? The Tangled-Up Ruins, and the rumor thereof! Full of doors tangled every which way, full of guests brought by matching ribbons-- and every last one of them's got a tangled-up issue! They wait for the doors to swing open. If you put a pair of scissors under your bed and pass right out for a good night's sleep, then to the Tangled-Up Ruins you'll arrive! If you chop-chop through the small doors, and even snip-snap through the big door, you'll get something nice as a reward! It's a rumor that EVERYONE who loves crafts is talking about. Help a friend out~!”

　 A Rumor encountered by Ashley Taylor and friends during her debut event story on the JP server. Girls who are experiencing similar issues will find themselves purchasing a ribbon with a strangely calming presence. If someone sleeps with scissors under their bed as per the rumor, they’ll dream of being transported to a labyrinthine abandoned house, where they’ll meet the girls with ribbons behind various doors. With a little coaching from the Rumor, its chosen “protagonist” will hopefully be able to help each “guest” talk through their issue, at which point the scissors will appear to cut through their ribbon. (The protagonist can also have a ribbon of their own, as is the case for Ashley.) If they succeed in helping everyone out, the Rumor congratulates them on a job well done... and gives them a bunch of “Good Job!” stickers upon waking up. Yay!

　This Rumor was created by Nemu as a Magius-era experiment, meant to collect energy from emotional upswings rather than downswings. (Unfortunately, it didn’t meet a high enough energy quota, so she went back to making threatening Rumors afterward. Oh well.)

“CEMETERY BANQUET” RUMOR “My, have you heard? Who'd you hear it from? The Cemetery Banquet, and the rumor thereof! Fated rivals, arguing friends-- if you want everyone to get along, then this Rumor is for you! Anyone who reads its invitation will be guided to the pre-banquet proving grounds. If-- and only if-- you can make the banquet lively, then you pass! And you'll be invited up to Paradise, complete with kindly parting words. But if you plan to participate, you'd better take great care! If you fall short of proving yourself, you'll literally fall into the underworld, to boot. It's a rumor that ALL of the temple's supporters are talking about. C'mon now, let's liven things up!”

　 A Rumor encountered by the Kamihama Magia Union, Tokime Clan, Promised Blood, and the OG series cast members in the 4th anniversary event story. Manifests due to an Uwasa-san from Arc 1 wandering through a Mirrors portal and accidentally hopping forward in time. (As per usual for time-traveling Mirrors portals, the resulting events are undone once the portal is destroyed.)

　 After receiving old-fashioned letters inviting them to a banquet at Suitoku Temple, each group is unconsciously drawn to participate, with the Rumor's influence initially preventing anyone from suspecting that something is wrong. Even after finding several of their members trapped in the Rumor's Labyrinth, it proves extremely difficult for anyone to properly fight back.

　 The Rumor greets its “attendees” in a kind, heavenly voice, casually “forgives” (brushes off) their attempts to break its rules, and gives gentle encouragement (plus painfully-gentle critique) as they resort to performing various party tricks to satisfy it. Once they satisfy the Rumor by setting aside both their pride and their mutual animosities, it escorts them to the top of its pagoda in a giant, golden hand... where they literally pass on to the afterlife.

　 Madoka's team comes to the rescue shortly thereafter, with Madoka managing to call Iroha back from the dead thanks to an emergency revision by Nemu. Being revived frees Iroha from the Rumor's influence, allowing her and Madoka to successfully break its rules and defeat it to save everyone else. Before it goes, it congratulates them on a job well done, and shares the “parting words” they would've received in the afterlife-- which, in their case, are words of encouragement from the Law of Cycles herself. (Perhaps because of its implied awareness of the Law of Cycles, the Rumor also seems to mistake this universe's Madoka for an extension of the Law.)

“DREAMING MIRROR” RUMOR “My, have you heard? Who'd you hear it from? The Dreaming Mirror, and the rumor thereof! Oh, if only I could go back in time to that day... Oh, if only I could do it all over again...! Well, if you're the lucky winner of our lottery this week, then you're officially invited to a dream of that 'what-if' world! The entry fee? Priceless! Just pass a test of your heart, and you'll get a special chance to make your own 'what-if' come true! But non, non, non! Just one word of advice: if you flunk out, you'll never, ever wake up again! It's a rumor that ALL the fine young ladies in Hokuyou Ward are talking about. Mirror, mirror, on the wall...!”

　 A Rumor encountered by Kushu Irina, Yukika Nanase and Ikumi Makino in Kushu's debut event story. Shortly after receiving a mysterious compact mirror as that week's "lottery winner", Kushu finds herself pulled into a dream world that adapts itself to her own memories and experiences. In her case, the dream world and its "trial of the heart" are largely drawn from Kushu's recollection of a book series that she and her late Puella Magi mentor, Aneka, enjoyed.

　 With Yukika and Ikumi likewise pulled into the dream to act as her traveling companions, Kushu follows the book's plot to gather memories belonging to both her and Aneka, in the hopes of getting a chance to properly say goodbye to her. Despite seemingly failing the "test" once, Kushu comes to a personal realization about which "Aneka" she wants to say goodbye to, succeeds in escaping the dream, and is rewarded with a brief 'what-if' version of the pair's first encounter. (A side conversation between Touka and Nemu implies that the Rumor uses energy from the "priceless" entry fee-- a large amount of Grief Seeds, in Kushu's case-- as fuel to manifest the 'what-if' in reality.)

“GREEN-EYED COWARD” RUMOR “My, have you heard? Who'd you hear it from? The Green-Eyed Coward, and the rumor thereof! Sure, they have dreams and ideals of their own, but they can't do anything when *left* on their own. Just a no-spine coward running along other people's rails! Some day, they want to be the very thing they admire, but they've already given up and told themself it can't happen. An ambivalent outcast-- but wuh-oh! Their one strong point is how jealous they can get! Once envy sets in, it's curtains for you. You'll get cursed and knocked unconscious! What a pest! It's a rumor that ALL of Kamihama's elites are talking about. Noooo backbiting!”

　 A Rumor encountered by Kuroe and the Mikazuki Villa team during Kuroe's debut event story. Possesses Kuroe (who Nemu selected as a suitable match for it) and manifests as a clone of her to attack people she feels jealous of. After some conversations with Iroha, Kuroe briefly thinks about her future goals without immediately comparing herself to others; this prompts the Rumor to attack her, after which it's defeated by the group.

Feelings (キモチ / kimochi) are powerful Witch-like creatures that begin appearing throughout Kamihama in Arc 2. Nemu identifies them as crystallized masses of emotional energy that broke off when Eve was pacified, as the emotionless Little Kyuubey was incapable of containing them. Each is initially hidden in a Labyrinth that must be “unlocked” by a powerful display of its corresponding emotion, and once defeated, retreats into a jeweled bracelet that appears on its chosen “victor’s” wrist. The various groups of out-of-town Puella Magi seek to capture the Feelings, because according to Kyuubey and Touka, they could be used to access, claim and enhance the now-bodiless auto-purification system. (...Key word being “could.”)

Each Feeling can communicate with its chosen host and with Ui, typically expressing a desire to reunite with their siblings. They can only be voluntarily given to someone who their host can trust with their life, though it’s also possible to simply steal them by force. After all eight have been awakened and claimed, they state that they’ll appoint whichever “victor” can claim them all in battle as their ultimate host.

Chapters 5 and 6 reveal that the Feelings want to recombine into Eve in her original state as a powerful, destructive Witch, and are pitting their hosts against each other in the hopes of eliminating Puella Magi who would pose a threat to Eve. While they can share their energy supply with their hosts in times of need, this is mainly a pretense they use to take over their hosts' bodies. Moments of emotional crisis are particularly dangerous, though a host with enough emotional strength and/or support can put the Feeling under her own control. Chapter 7 clarifies that the Feelings are trying to eliminate threats to them out of fear, and can be pacified by someone sincerely trying to reach out to them.

The Feelings are evidently based on the Bagua trigrams, as each Feeling’s location, name and design are (for the most part) respectively linked to its associated direction, disposition, and body part/animal/element in the Later Heaven arrangement. All but one summon copies of a specific Rumor as their minions. The game’s “Emotion Fragment” items also match the gemstones associated with each, and are arranged in the same directions on the in-game skill tree.

In addition to the "master" Feelings that appear in the main storyline, one raid event's story segment describes how weaker copies of a given Feeling can crop up even after their corresponding jewel is claimed. While the "master copies" were vital components of Eve's body, the raid events' recurring duplicates are only made of impurity and emotion that were left over in the vicinity, and have a magic signature closer to that of a regular witch.

☱ / “REJOICING - SAPPHIRE LIPS”

Archive description from Magia Day 2019: "A being that's neither Witch nor Rumor, recently observed within Kamihama City. Out of a desire to return to the being they're meant to dwell within, Feelings disturb and take control of intruders’ emotions, and attempt to take over people’s bodies. Several Feelings appear to be scattered throughout town."

The first Feeling encountered by Iroha’s group. Embodies ecstasy. Summons the Breakup Rule Rumors as its minions. Defeated and received by Iroha. It’s communicated with Iroha via its bracelet on several occasions, and shared its energy with her to escape a near-death situation and to help defeat the Garnet Pinky.

☷ / “OBEDIENT - RUBY NAVEL”

The second Feeling, encountered by Iroha’s teammates and the Tokime Clan team. Embodies expectation. Summons the Memory Museum Rumors as its minions. Defeated and received by Shizuka Tokime. (Apparently swapped with Ao’s Pearl between Chapters 9 and 10?)

☳ / “VIBRATING - AQUAMARINE HEELS”

Encountered by members of Promised Blood and Neo Magius. Embodies rage. Summons the Chelation Land Rumors as its minions. Defeated and received by Juri Ooba, shortly before being passed to Yuna Kureha. Used by (and nearly kills) Yuna in combination with several other Feelings in Chapter 7. Given to Hikaru Kirari for safekeeping after the dissolution of Promised Blood, then briefly passed to Iroha in Chapter 8, then back to Yuna.

☵ / “SUCCUMBING - TURQUOISE EARS”

Encountered by members of Iroha’s group and Tokime Clan, narrowly beating out Promised Blood. Embodies loathing. Summons the Hotel Fendt Hope Rumors as its minions. Defeated with significant help from Shizuka, but ultimately received by Felicia. Attempts to amplify Felicia’s self-loathing and take over her body in Chapter 6, but is subdued and accepted by Felicia with help from her family and friends. Passed to Iroha in Chapter 8, shortly before being stolen by Mitama Yakumo.

☲ / "BEAUTEOUS - PEARL EYE"

Ultimately defeated and received by Ao Kasane; temporarily stolen by Kanagi in Chapter 6, but soon given back. Starts to take over Ao’s body with increasing frequency from Chapter 5 onward. Used by (and nearly kills) Yuna in combination with several other Feelings in Chapter 7; given back to Ao for safekeeping after the dissolution of Promised Blood. (Apparently swapped with Shizuka’s Ruby between Chapters 9 and 10?)

☰ / "ROBUST - OPAL NECK"

Encountered out of the blue by Promised Blood and Tokime Clan. Embodies respect. Summons the Flower Speaker Rumor as its minion. Ultimately defeated and received by Juri Ooba. Used by (and nearly kills) Yuna in combination with several other Feelings in Chapter 7; given back to Juri for safekeeping after the dissolution of Promised Blood. Given in turn to Sunao Toki in Chapter 9, who uses it to mentally reach out to Shizuka.

☴ / “WAVERING - DIAMOND HAIR”

Encountered by Promised Blood and Tokime Clan. Embodies terror. Summons the Anonymous A.I. Rumors as its minons. Defeated and received by Chiharu, then temporarily stolen by Himena Aika of the Neo-Magius before being rejected by Himena and returned. Briefly passed to Iroha and back in Chapter 8, then given to Juri Ooba in Chapter 10, who uses it to mentally reach out to Ao.

☶ / “UNMOVING - GARNET PINKY”

Encountered by the Kamihama Magia Union and Promised Blood after Ryou Midori’s death in Chapter 4. Embodies grief. Refused to move from its hiding spot out of grief at being separated from its siblings; ultimately allows itself to be defeated and received by Ikumi Makino. Lends its power to Ikumi in Chapter 6, which she uses to destroy Promised Blood’s main entry route into Kamihama at the cost of her own life; thereafter taken by Yuna Kureha. Used by (and nearly kills) Yuna in combination with several other Feelings in Chapter 7; relinquished and given to Kanagi Izumi for safekeeping after the dissolution of Promised Blood. Nearly takes over Kanagi and Mitama's bodies in Chapter 10, forcing Mitama to make a drastic modification to the pair's Soul Gems to fend it off.

Once Mitama and Kanagi are brought back from the dark side in Chapter 11, all eight gems are shared by the five united groups. Though a sudden downturn in their situation leads Lavi Himuro to fuse with the Feelings in the hopes of ridding the world of Puella Magi, the group successfully manages to talk her back down from it. Iroha similarly fuses with the Feelings once they transfer back to her and Ui, and-- after a close shave with a bad-end timeline-- they successfully spread the Auto-Purification System worldwide.

Also, Touka and Nemu turn themselves (and, temporarily, every incapacitated Puella Magi) into Rumors during the final chapter, to avoid the effects of any outside forces that may target Puella Magi. Ta-da.

WINCHESTER

The witch of mirrors. Her nature is seclusion. Because of this nature, her Labyrinth is built from countless layers that stack and overlap each other. As she is a cowardly witch that only wants to hide away quietly, she does not gather magic by killing humans or Puella Magi. She instead absorbs faint traces of magic from the Puella Magi that enter her Labyrinth, which she then uses to construct more layers to defend herself with.
