A key scene in school reunion that people seem to conveniently overlook is Rose telling the doctor that seeing Sarah Jane is like seeing her future, a future where she is left behind. The implication is that Rose isn't just a jealous girlfriend. Her attitude towards Sarah Jane stems from the fact that she represents all of her fears. She instinctively knows that the doctor and Sarah Jane used to be as close then as she is with him now and also sees how that level of closeness didn't protect her from being dropped off on earth, seemingly to be forgotten. Like in most cases, the root cause of her "jealous" behaviour isn't actual jealously but insecurity.
